Bio

Josué Leonardo Samol Navichoc, nací el 12 de enero de 1987 en San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala,  mi infancia ha sido de mucho esfuerzo y dedicación, desde pequeño me ha gustado dibujar y hacer bocetos en acuarela, cuando termine mi estudio de básicos, quería estudiar en la Escuela de Arte en la ciudad de Guatemala, pero por la poca economía de mi familia y no contábamos con trabajo fijo, no podíamos pagar y ya no pude seguir estudiando el arte. Hoy en día estoy trabajando como ayudante en una carpintería y poder servir a mi gente ayudar a mi familia con lo poco que se y gano, la verdad son tantas las situaciones que hemos pasado con mi familia, aun vivo con ellos y ellos me apoyan de la mejor manera. Cuando terminé los básicos compré una cámara y con eso empecé con mis primeras fotografías.

Tuve la oportunidad de concursar en la alianza francesa de Paris en Guatemala y obtuve un segundo lugar a nivel nacional. La poca experiencia de fotografiar me ha llevado a conocer personas importantes para mi que me ha hecho crecer en esto, conocí a Rene De Carufel un gran amigo, y que a través de él y de sus amigos, quiero dar a conocer mis fotografías en Canadá y quizás en muchos países, para eso necesita mucho esfuerzo y dedicación. Quiero exponer estas fotografías en Canadá y mi objetivo es que descubran lo hermoso que es Guatemala y su gente alegre, que sientan las expresiones y el esfuerzo que día con día la gente hace para poder vivir y ser felices, gente que trabaja diario para sostener a una familia, quiero que con este trabajo demuestre lo que somos y como vivimos, quiero que vivan un momento de felicidad, ternura o nostalgia al descubrir estas imágenes, en un futuro quisiera conocer a mucha gente, muchos países con mi trabajo, en Guatemala es difícil que un Artista sobresalga, pero gracias al apoyo de amigos hago posible esta exposición y agradecerles a ustedes por abrirme las puertas.

    Josué Leonardo Samol Navichoc, I was born on January 12, 1987 in San Pedro La Laguna, Solola, Guatemala. My childhood was much effort and dedication, since childhood I liked drawing and to do sketches in watercolor. When I finished high school, I wanted to study at the art school in Guatemala City, but by the little economy of my family couldn't pay for it and I could not continue studying art. Today I'm working as an Assistant in a woodworking shop to be able to help my family with what little I make. I live with them and they support me in the best way they can. When I finished the high school, I  bought a camera and started taking my first pictures.

  I had the opportunity to compete in a photo contest organized by the French Alliance in Guatemala, and I was awarded second place at the national level. The little experience in photography has led me to know people who have become important to me, they have helped me grow. I met René de Carufel, a great friend, and through him and his friends, I wish to convey my pictures in Canada and perhaps in other countries. I would like to exhibit these photos in Canada and my target is that they discover how beautiful Guatemala is and how happy people are. I would like my work to show what we are and how we live; I want you to experience a moment of joy, tenderness and nostalgia when you discover these images. In Guatemala, it is difficult for an Artist to stand out, but thanks to friends' support which may make this exhibition possible, I would be grateful to you if you could help open doors for me.
