Now that I'm out of tunnel vision of reading vol 3 of Guardian, I wanted to share pics of the goodies that came along with the special edition of the novel!

Along with this gorgeous book, the special edition included a sticker sheet, 2 posters, 6 postcards, and a bookmark w/ art on both sides! Click below the break to see all this gorgeous art.

First off the sticker sheet! This art was done by Niroku

They're all so cute! It took me a second to figure out Lin Jing jsksj bc he's bald monk in my mind, but his bun is also very cute. Also we got Ghost face! Aka Mianmian according to @meluci-fer jsksj So pretty and grumpy, get this man (or all of these men jsksjsjs) into therapy

The bookmark is absolutely gorgeous and nicely sturdy with a gloss finish. This art was done by Ruthie/kkcoocool

Next we have the posters! The art for both was done by Butchinelle

These are decent sized posters (10x15 in or about 25.5x38cm) and ah so many gorgeous details. We have Shen San and Wei! And also a fun little swan boat date with Yunlan and Shen Wei (god that hair and those ripped jeans! Yunlan is so hot). I can't wait to hang these both on my walls

Last but not least, postcards! There is the front art of the cards and chibi style art on the back. The front art is the cover art for the 3 volumes and the 3 pieces of color art that have been at the front of each volume. I'll share the front art first and then the chibi art (I didn't notice any in connection between the art on the front and the chibi art on the back but I can post which are on what cards if anyone is curious)

Thanks to Bai Yu, I always imagine Yunlan with facial hair jsksjs and because of @sagittariusdarkarrow 's amazing editing work he's done of adding little beards, my brain gets confused when first looking at the art like "hmmm, something is missing" 😂

For days, Zhao Yunlan would return to where that specific landscape was and spend some time observing it. Shen Wei wondered what was wrong with that painting, but did not voice his questions. Eventually, his husband would say something about it. It wasn't as if Zhao Yunlan knew how to remain silent for long. But as he paused once more in front of the painting, there was a certain nostalgia tinged with resignation in his gaze. "The last time we passed this waterfall, I already knew that I would not see my little beauty become a great beauty..."

One day I will return to my old hometown Dressed in old clothes but with bright eyes

When he was a kid, Zhao Yunlan believed that saving the world was this definitive, life-altering thing that changed everything - after the hero saved the day there was no more war, no more pollution. The weather was always beautiful and people were nice to each other because with no threat to their lives they had no more reasons to be nasty.

Zhao Yunlan aged twenty-nine sees the matter very differently. 

Saving the world didn't make the bureaucracy go away for example - it only made the officials come up with more exciting forms to fill out: for the Dixingren stuck above, for Haixingren bereft of their possessions, for Haixingren wanting to marry Dixingren, for Dixingren to register their powers, the sheer amount of papers the Xingdu Ministry can now be mean about increased drastically, and they aren't even Zhao Yunlan's everyday problem.

The rain however very much is.

Getting wet is not what concerns Zhao Yunlan at the moment - in his infinite wisdom he decided to go shopping with his better half who was born ready for everything, and had taken an umbrella to the excursion, so they are now being protected from the elements with the power of white plastic with a Da Qing-presenting cat proudly displayed above Shen Wei's head.

They are safe, but their freshly painted rails on the balcony are not, and Zhao Yunlan feels very tired just thinking about painting them again.

Such minor inconveniences never happened to heroes of his childhood. Their lives grew more peaceful, while Zhao Yunlan's got... Well, not worse, that's for sure, but certainly more colourful. He never even dreamed he would come to the moment in life when he would have a house to worry about.

A house he was returning to with Shen Wei, who finally gave in and started wearing more normal clothes to get the shopping done. While Shen Wei trying his best to move freely in a suit was certainly a vision, Zhao Yunlan cannot help but be a little charmed by the t-shirt (his) and the cardigan the revered professor Shen is wearing now. It feels like a good change. 

Or at least it doesn't make the onlookers fear that Zhao Yunlan is some ruffian who kidnapped himself a respectable hostage and is now blackmailing him into shared domesticity.

Mundane looks good on Shen Wei, Zhao Yunlan thinks, and gets distracted by a rumble of thunder above them. Fucking great, they've just planted the flowers too. 

Annoyed at the world, Zhao Yunlan stops to stare at the skies in accusation, the lollipop he’s been abusing for the last half an hour turning unexpectedly sour in his mouth. 

Next to him, Shen Wei stops too, yet his attention is on something else entirely.

"Look. Lis changed the curtains again," Shen Wei says, in his best impression of polite judgment, "Hideous."

Zhao Yunlan doesn't have to look - even if the Li family bought the best looking, the most tasteful curtains in the world, even if those were the very curtains of Shen Wei's dreams, he would still hate them on principle. Mostly because Shen Wei doesn't approve of anything the Lis do, by default.

Still engrossed in his battle of wills with the dark clouds coming their way, Zhao Yunlan allows himself to retrace the long history of Shen Wei on Li Hua and Li Cheng violence. Did it start with Li Hua sharing her loud opinions about Dixingren? With Li Cheng's loud music playing? Or with their shared belief that Zhao Yunlan is the 'hoolingan that makes their neighbourhood feel less sophisticated'? The investigation is still ongoing, but the fact remains that in this post-world saving reality, the great Heipaoshi still has his battles to fight.

There is something deeply pleasing about the thought, and Zhao Yunlan is on his way to voice that particular mushy thought of his when his personal enemy, the Nature, sends another roll of thunder as a warning not to get too cocky.

"We need to at least save the flowers," Zhao Yunlan says, adjusting his grip on the umbrella with determination. Shen Wei's hand, still resting on his arm tenses slightly at the word 'save', but he relaxes right away. He casts one last, fully judgemental look in the direction of house Li and off they go, trying to outrun the weather.

"Maybe at least her begonias get it," Shen Wei mutters with dark hope in his voice.

The pleasant feeling inside Zhao Yunlan returns with force, warm despite the rain.
