Yandere Guardian Angel x Reader
You never believed in the supernatural. You’ve heard all the stories of devils and angels, ghosts and the fae. But you never bought into any of it, they were all just stories after all. Right?
Well that all changed the night you had to walk home from your closing shift alone. It was strangely quiet in the city tonight. Usually you’d hear the sounds of men at the bar, or teenagers walking from store to store with their friends. But tonight you could hear only the sounds of your own footsteps. However, you still felt the uncanny energy of you being watched.
Every time you turned out there was nothing. But you could’ve sworn there was something in your peripheral. Maybe it was a cat though. Or a bird?
Oh how you wish it was.
You were so paranoid about your surroundings that you spent too much time looking everywhere but the direction you were supposed to be going. Now nothing seemed familiar and you had no idea where you had to go to get home.
Just as you were about to get out your phone to check the map- “it’s not safe here”. The voice behind you was so quiet that under any other circumstance you wouldn’t have heard it. But in the moment it felt like someone was screaming at you.
You flinched, dropped your phone and spun around to see who said that. More like what said that.
When you stopped you saw a figure towering over you. With the street lights you were barely able to make out their features. But what you did see was beautiful. Perfect even. Their eyes captivating you the most. Warm and intense, locked onto you as if you were the first thing they’ve ever seen.
“Who.. who are you?” You ask them, never losing eye contact.
They give you a soft smile. “I’m your guardian,” they simply state.
A shiver ran up your spine. But at the same time you felt comforted in some weird way. Their voice felt like a melody you could get lost in.
You still tried to step backwards, away from the towering figure, but your legs didn’t work. Your entire body paralyzed.
“I know you’re scared. But you have nothing to worry about while I’m here,” they raise a hand to cup your cheek. “You don’t need to even think about anything else but me. I won’t let anything happen to you. Not anymore.”
You wanted to feel comfort from their words, but there was still an underlying feeling a dread. Something was off about them. About their smile and the way they spoke. It felt like they were hiding something.
~~
Ever since your “guardian”, as they called themself, brought you home that night, they never left you alone. Everywhere you went you could feel their presence in the distance. See them even, if you looked for them.
It was comforting at first. Whenever someone would try being a creep to you at work they would suddenly have somewhere to be. Or if your daily responsibilities were getting the best of your emotions, they would offer words of encouragement and reassurance.
It started out nice enough. But as the weeks passed you started to feel suffocated by their presence.
They were everywhere. But somehow you were the only one that could see them. Those around you began to grow worried about your mental state when you started staring off into space to look at them. Or when you got distracted by their voice that would somehow always be in your head. But you shrugged off the worries saying you just didn’t get enough sleep and you’ll work on it.
Every night when you tried to sleep, you’d hear them loud and clear. “You don’t need anyone else,” their voice wrapping around you like a warm blanket. “I’m here for you. I always have, and I always will be.”
They even showed up physically in your room to watch over you. Usually they would keep their distance. But more recently they seem to be getting closer and closer.
It was unsettling. The once warm look in their eyes turned hungry. Their soft smile unmoving.
Eventually they began to get more physical with you. They hadn’t touched you since the night you first met. But know they walk with you everywhere you go, gently guiding you away from anything that might be a little dangerous.
Suddenly the tiniest inconvenience like a paper cut, or tripping on the sidewalk is the end of the world.
You now had to hold their hand every time you went out so you didn’t risk falling. Or you had to let them make your food and beverages because gods forbid you cut yourself on accident.
It all became overbearing and you finally lost it on them.
“Why are you doing all of this? I can handle myself!” You didn’t mean to raise your voice like you did. All the emotion just came out at once.
For the first time, their smile fell.
They grabbed you by the shoulders and stared deeply into your eyes. Almost as if they were trying to hypnotize you with their own.
“Because I love you. I always have. And I will not have anything or anyone take you away from me,” they pulled you into a hug. Their arms as strong as iron. You couldn’t escape no matter how hard you tried.
“Please.. I don’t want this.. let me go,” you start to cry, on the verge of panic.
“You’ll learn to accept this. You’ll learn to accept me. And I will be here when you do. I will always be within arms reach to protect you.. Forever.”
The following days all began to blur. All you could hear and think about was them. No matter what you tried, you couldn’t escape them and their influence on you.
You finally started to break. Maybe they were right? You’ve never been safer as you have been since they showed themself. They were the only one who knew what to say to lift your spirit.
One night you faced them. Not sure how you got there or how long you’ve been standing, staring at them as they stared at you. They opened their arms for a hug. And for the first time you walked into them willingly, resting your head on their chest, hugging them back.
Kissing your forehead, they whisper “you’re mine, and I will never let you go.” Their touch possessive yet soothing. You begin to relax. “I love you, never forget that.”
Deep down, you knew all of this. You were theirs, forever.
“I love you too.”

lol us thirsting over the angel is probably just another stress factor for him since angels are supposed to be pure and free of desires and sin
loving the guardian angel recognition... if it can freak it will be freaked by me
cw. religious sacrilege
it's terribly dirty and sinful ! he knows he shouldn't let you touch him... hands slipping over and under his perfectly white robe.
he hasn’t been a graceful soul for some time now, especially as he loses his composure with each stressful attempt to keep the wanderer alive. his duties overwhelm him, and maybe it's something about a soft touch that gives him a blissful feeling of pleasure. just for a bit.
but then it's starts a new dilemma, of course. he can never truly catch a break.
he sweats that a higher being might strike him down the moment he lets it go further. that an all knowing eye will appear and chastise him for his wrongdoings. or maybe a shadowy hand will burst from the ground and drag him into the depths of hell the moment he sputters and cums all over your face.
it doesn’t happen, though — not yet. so, he'll choose to wipe his brow and hope that prayer can cleanse him of his sins. it may never fully quiet the fear gnawing at his mind, but perhaps, in his heart, he can ration to himself that he’s earned a sliver of heaven after all his stress

You’ve always felt like you’re unluckier than others. It always rains when you forget your umbrella, you always lose your pencils on the day of an exam, the bus is always late when you need to take it…
Honestly, you’ve always felt like you’ve had rotten luck.
Lately, though, you feel like your luck has… actually gotten better. You can’t really say for sure, but just yesterday, you had thought you forgot your umbrella and bemoaned the rain, only to find that you actually did have a small umbrella tucked into your bag. And when you thought you lost your pencil, you found another one on the floor. The bus has also been on time more often lately, too.
You’re not sure why your luck’s gotten better, but you’re not complaining.
Or, you thought you wouldn’t be. However, as you feel someone follow you home, you can’t help but feel like your sudden good luck is all because something much, much worse than minor inconveniences is going to happen to you.
When you take a few steps forward, you hear someone else also take a few steps.
When you stop, you hear someone else also stop.
When you run, someone else runs, their footsteps loud on the concrete pavement, echoing through the empty streets.
You run and run and run but you feel like you’re stuck in place. Fear is the only thing that makes you move.
Snap! Crash!
Your breath hitches as your footsteps stop. You turn around, eyes wide. Behind you, a man is buried under heavy steel bars, blood oozing out beneath him. You didn’t realize you were passing by a construction site, but as you hurry away, you can’t help but be grateful.
Maybe your luck is getting better.
What you don’t realize is that your sudden turn of good luck is due to your newly assigned guardian angel. Lately, he's always been by your side, keeping a careful watch on you to ensure your happiness. And, with how much he adores you, he'll always be with you forever and ever and ever.
There's no escaping him. Even if he tries to make you his.
So, really, maybe your luck isn't getting better, but rotting just like a fallen apple.

yandere! guardian angel x reader
guardian angel is supposed to protect and guide you. he puts time and effort into maintaining your peace and safety so imagine his horror when you choose to blindly trust and follow such depraved people.
at first guardian angel solely said it was for your own spiritual salvation, keeping those soul sucking recruiters away from your pure and genuine soul. he was more so concerned with your own spiritual healing then you converting.
but as time went on, he started looking at your horrible dating history, the men you choose to let into your life were horribly deprived fiends. he had half a mind to deal with them on the spot, although that wouldn’t be quite angel like now would it. but as time went on, your dating habits turned from bad to worse. dating emotionally unavailable, constipated man-child, narcissists foul mouth filth that were lower then gum stick on the sole of a shoe. because that’s what they were, because a real decent man much less decent person would continue to deceive such a kind hearted person like you.
at first you started to think there was something wrong with yourself, why weren’t you getting dates, no good men would treat you like that right? but the only ones you were able to attract were not so kind and honest. you prayed to your guardian angel to make you change. to save your soul and heart, give a chance to you. give you a gift of a beautiful relationship with a loving and respectful partner.
at first he started seeking happiness for you, pleading to his superiors to give you the saving grace to lead a healthy, and happier life. but then the thought no mortal men could compare to your ethereal splendor sent him down a rabbit hole known as obsession. at first, it started with him obsessively looking out for your health, heart and safely. then it progressed into him obviously wanting, obsessing over your love life. he couldn’t comprehend how such a beautiful soul such as you could only attract bad men. because to guardian angel all men were unworthy of your love, much less your existence.
guardian angel started sabotaging your dates, he would show up to the potential date’s house and started leaving warnings and letters detailing how they weren’t a match, and how you deserved way better then them. at first it was advice, he detailed his opinions on how it wouldn’t last and divulging into unhinged rants. the date would usually brush it off, at first but then they started receiving threats and unsatisfactory responses to they’re continued behavior and communication to you. guardian angel even started causing problems with the other guardian angels, causing distress and disruptions in paperwork and other-worldly relationships so the other angel wouldn’t be present to attend to that man, but be busy with work.
he started off with petty stuff, like tripping them and throwing strong winds into their path, rain and thunderstorms. but unfortunately this man was a little too persistent. rain or shine, he would always make his way to the date. unfortunately every attempt to distract him, even inconvenience him was futile because he was too persistent, so guardian angel became petty and started sabotaging the dates. the waiter that spilled a entire tray of plates of food on your date, was his doing. the dog chasing after him and bit off the fabric of one of his pants legs, as he climbed up a tree was devious but satisfying. still that wasn’t enough to scare the man off, so guardian angel decided he would shamelessly make his life hell on earth.
guardian angel started sabotaging his professional development and career. the promotion was delayed, ended with another person receiving such promotions. the stress of work got to the man, unable to make further progress, resulting in a demotion. work was horribly stressful and home life wasn’t much better. from having a great relationship with his family, it dwindled into nonexistent. work was consuming, familial relationships was on the rocks. the tipping point was when you recommended a change of hairstyle to liven his mood. but you accidentally bleached his hair, too much resulting in him having it all fall off. he fell off the cliff, blew up calling you every name in the book. pressure and unrealistic expectations were constantly adding pressure to him, and he exploded at you.
guardian angel made it so, the pressure was consuming and the things he said were rooted in your worst insecurities and even traumas. guardian angel wasn’t even phased when you broke up with that undeserving man on the spot. he cried and pleaded with you, but guardian angel didn’t relent. one misfortune after another had that man crumbling, he even had a little trouble with the law. ex boyfriend started stalking and threatening you, soon afterwords.
but don’t worry, you’re guardian angel took care of it. unconditional (obession) love was his drive, so he made sure you’re life would go back to normal, before you were intertwined with such individuals. guardian angel’s love reached a point of no return, and now he wouldn’t care to share you with anyone else.
guardian angel only had one goal, in mind. keeping you safe and healthy. but his only motivation was corrupted along the way. he only desired you, being his. only his forever and always. he plagued your dating life, with misfortune with the sole purpose of being your saving grace. he made sure, he would be your one and last hope for your happy ever after.

oh my ***
Tumblr media
Pairing: ateez (ot8) x reader
Summary: Everyone supposedly has a guardian angel, one that’s tasked to always keep their human out of trouble and on the right path of life. But you don’t just have one, you have...eight?!
w.c. 10.2k
Warnings: fluff, angst, near death experiences, threatening someone wooyoung with a bat, cursing, comfort, reincarnation, i think that’s it?
You wouldn’t necessarily consider yourself a lucky person.
You also wouldn’t really consider yourself an unlucky person either.
You just kind of exist, with the occasional good and not-so-good things happening to you.
Like when you somehow managed to score you and your friends front row seats to see your favorite group in concert. Or the time that you somehow managed to break your ankle and your phone all in the same day.
So, yeah, you wouldn’t say you’re the luckiest person in the world, but you’re also not the unluckiest person, so you’re pretty fine with continuing your life as is.
Today, however, has been going oddly perfect.
You woke up for the first time in forever feeling incredibly well-rested, which has not happened since before you hit puberty. The weather was perfect, maybe a little too perfect, but you didn’t care. You could finally open your windows completely to let in the cool breeze from outside, listening as the birds sang outside of your apartment.
Checking your phone, you also noticed that your paycheck came in a whole day early. Opening your bank account, you stared wide-eyed at the number that was deposited. It was certainly a much larger amount than your last paycheck.
Feeling absolutely ecstatic over how well the morning was going, you decided to make a trip to your favorite coffee shop and treat yourself to some breakfast.
Connecting your phone to your speaker, you selected your favorite playlist and allowed the music to flow through the apartment. Picking out some cute clothes, you began to get ready. As you finished washing your face, you also noticed that your skin seemed to be really nice today, with hardly any redness seeping through and the dark circles under you eyes had seemed to disappear over night.
Smiling brightly at yourself in the mirror, you finished applying your skincare before moving to get dressed and apply some light makeup. Once you finished, you couldn’t help but check yourself out in the mirror.
I look so cute today.
Giving yourself a wink, you let out a small laugh at your own antics before grabbing your purse from where it hung on the wall and stepping outside. Making sure the door was locked, you began the short walk to your favorite cafe.
You couldn’t help but admire how nice the sun felt on your skin. For the past few weeks, the weather had been anything but nice, and it almost felt like the weather had been reflecting your mood. With the project you had been assigned at work, you had been feeling so overwhelmed and stressed out that you often contemplated just quitting in order to get rid of the stress.
But thankfully, the project was finally done, you had received great feedback from your boss, and it finally seemed as though your little slump was beginning to improve.
Making your way inside the cafe, you walked up to the counter and ordered your usual drink as well as a small pastry.
A little treat for myself.
Sitting down at a table that had the best view of the street, you made yourself comfortable with your drink as you waited for your pastry. Though, you were pleasantly surprised when the man who took your order came out with two pastries instead of one.
“Um, I think you might’ve given me the wrong pastry,” you frowned slightly. “I only ordered this one,” you pointed at the pastry that you know for sure you had ordered.
“Oh!” the man smiled brightly. “No, don’t worry, it’s on the house!”
Before you could even respond, the man gently placed both pastries on your table, sending you a small wink and making his way back behind the counter.
You could feel your cheeks warm slightly at the man’s actions.
Damn, today really is a great day you thought, bringing the pastry up to your mouth and taking a bite out of it.
Holy shit this is so good too you hummed appreciatively.
After thoroughly enjoying your breakfast, you bid goodbye to the barista before making your way out of the store.
Hmmmm, what should I do now?
Glancing around, you remembered that one of your favorite bookstores was about a block away, and quickly made up your mind to go there.
Walking to the nearest stoplight, you pushed the button on the pole and waited patiently for the light to turn green. Fishing out your phone from your bag, you scrolled aimlessly through social media and responding to some texts your friends had sent. Glancing up, you noticed the light was now green.
Placing your phone in your pocket, you began to cross the street.
You were almost at the other side of the crosswalk when a loud screeching noise caused you to whip your head to the side. There was a car moving down the street in your direction incredibly fast, and you watched as people on the sidewalks jumped out of the way as the car swerved from side to side and hit things on the street.
Your heart raced you watched the car come barreling towards you. It felt like your feet were stuck to the ground and you couldn’t find it in yourself to move.
Right as the car came feet away from hitting you, you shut your eyes, bracing for the impact of the car hitting your body.
You barely registered the feeling of someone grabbing your hand and yanking you forward.
Landing roughly on your hands and knees on the sidewalk, you stared at the cement in front of you as the sound of the car slowly disappeared in the distance. There were people running up to you from both sides of the street, some yelling while others gently crouched next to you and asked if you were okay.
The strangers helped turn you around and you sat on the sidewalk unable to calm your racing heart.
“Th-thank you,” you breathed out, looking at the woman who was closest to you.
Her eyebrows furrowed and she looked at you concerned.
“For what?”
You swallowed.
“For grabbing me and pulling me forward. I couldn’t move and I though for sure the car was going to hit me,” you explained.
It was your turn to look confused when she opened her mouth.
“Honey, there was no one around you. I certainly wasn’t going to reach you on time and neither was anyone else.”
-
After the lady explained to you that the other pedestrians on the street had just barely reached you after you were already on the sidewalk, you couldn’t shake the feeling of someone’s eyes on you.
The strangers who had come up to check on you were incredibly nice, and after convincing them to not call an ambulance and that you could stand on your own, the crowd slowly dispersed.
The woman who had helped you insisted on calling a cab for you, even though you reassured her that you didn’t live far and you could make it home safely. She was adamant, saying that she wouldn’t let you walk home alone after what just happened and said it would weigh heavy on her conscious if she did.
Eventually, you relented, and waited with her patiently as she called a taxi.
When the cab eventually pulled up, she gave you a hug and said that she was happy you were okay and to get home safely.
Waving goodbye through the window, you watched as her figure slowly grew smaller.
Leaning back against the leather seats, you finally allowed yourself to process what had just happened.
Your day had been going so well and that car had quite literally come out of nowhere. Even though the lady who helped you said there was no one near you, you were 100% positive you had felt someone grab your hands and pull you forward onto the sidewalk.
Your mind wandered to your parents and the stories they had told you when you were younger of guardian angels.
“Guardian angels? What’s that?” seven-year-old you has asked your mom.
She smiled, softly running her hand through your hair from where she sat on the edge of your bed.
“They’re people who are assigned to watch over you and always protect you. They help you when you’re in trouble and make sure you always make good decisions.”
Younger you wrinkled her nose.
“They’re always watching me? That sounds creepy.”
Your mom laughed, tossing her head back.
After what you had experienced today, maybe the stories your mom used to tell you weren’t that crazy.
As the cab you were in slowly came to a stop in front of your building, you thanked the driver and rummaged through your bag looking for some cash to tip him.
He waved his hand at you, telling you the lady who had flagged him down already paid and there was no need to tip.
“I’m just glad I could get you home safely.”
“Oh,” you blinked, kind of surprised he was saying no to being tipped. “Well, thank you, sir.” You said honestly. “I hope you have a great rest of your day,” you said, stepping out of the car.
The driver bid you farewell and drove away from your building as soon as you walked through the front gates.
Sighing heavily, you made your way to the elevator in the building and walked into the old machine, watching as the doors closed and the numbers for the floors slowly climbed up.
Honestly, you couldn’t wait to into your bed and knock out. Way too much has happened today that was out of your comfort zone, to say the least.
Eventually, you reached your front door and reached into your bag to fish out your keys.
Searching inside your bag with your hand, your eyebrows furrowed when you didn’t feel the familiar metal of your keys.
I know I brought them with me, so where are they?
Taking your bag off your shoulder, you opened it up and began pulling out everything you had in there. You could feel the pit in your stomach get heavier with every item that was removed and no keys were found.
You eventually emptied out your entire bag and still, you were unable to find your keys. Leaning your back against your door, you slowly allowed yourself to sink to the ground.
They must’ve fallen out when I fell, you though bitterly. You could feel the familiar sting of tears in your eyes and you felt a lump in your throat.
This was the last thing you needed today.
You’re unsure how long you sat outside your apartment door, wallowing in your own misery.
The sound of footsteps brought you of your thoughts.
Glancing up, you noticed a tall man with short pink hair come to a stop in front of you.
“Is everything okay miss?”
Holy shit he has a deep voice
You sighed loudly.
“Not really,” you admit. “I lost my keys at some point when I was out today and my friend who has my spare is out of town for the week.”
You’re not really sure what compelled you to tell all this to the strange man who you’ve never even seen in your apartment, but something about him gives off a very peaceful aura.
You feel like you could tell him anything.
The man furrows his eyebrows and a soft pout forms on his face.
“Aw, I’m really sorry,” he sympathized.
You shrugged, there wasn’t really anything he could do to help.
He glanced around nervously. Why? You’re not quite sure.
“I’m, uh, actually one of the maintenance people and we’re here doing some routine check-ups,” he started.
Check-ups? The building manager didn’t notify me of anything going on this week.
“If you want,” the man continues. “I can go back down to the leasing office and grab the master key to unlock your door for you?”
You hesitate.
On one hand, this man is literally offering to go out of his way to help you out and unlock your door for you.
On the other hand, you have absolutely no way of proving he’s actually who he says he is. He could be a serial killer for all you know and you’ve basically just given him access to unlock your apartment and kill you in your sleep.
Giving him a once over, you notice the bluish jumpsuit he’s wearing and the work boots he has on. Quite frankly, he does look like he’s been doing some manual labor, so maybe he’s telling the truth.
“Okay,” you finally reply, albeit hesitantly.
Honestly, if he does turn out to be a serial killer and comes back to murder you in your sleep, you’ll make sure to haunt him for the rest of his life.
“Great!” he smiles widely, his eyes turning into the cutest crescent moons you’ve ever seen.
At least he’ll be a cute serial killer, you think.
“Oh!” he says, as though he just remembered something. “Also, my name’s Mingi! It’s really nice to meet you!” the man, Mingi, reaches his hand out.
Pushing yourself off the floor, you quickly dust yourself off before reaching out as well to shake his hand.
“I’m (Y/n),” you introduce yourself.
Mingi hums.
“That’s a really pretty name.”
You can feel your cheeks get warm.
“O-oh, thank you.”
It’s quiet for a few moments before Mingi speaks again.
“Okay, well I’m gonna go downstairs to get the masterkey really quick. Don’t get into any trouble while I’m gone!” he jokes, beginning to walk back down the hallway.
“I’ll try,” you laugh nervously, thinking about the day you’ve had.
If anything else goes wrong today, you don’t think you’ll have the willpower to keep living.
You’re only waiting for a few minutes before you can spot Mingi coming back down the hall.
Damn he’s quick.
“Got it!” Mingi says cheerfully, waving a small key in the air.
You smile back, feeling relieved that you can finally get inside your apartment.
He stops in front of your door, pushing the key inside the lock and wriggling it around a few times before you can hear the familiar click of the lock. Letting out a small “aha”, Mingi twists the doorknob and sure enough, the door to your apartment opens.
You might actually cry tears of happiness.
“Ma’am,” Mingi says in a fake posh accent, gesturing with his hand for you to go inside.
You let out a small laugh and walk inside. Mingi remains outside of your door.
“Well, thank you so much Mingi,” you say earnestly. “I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t showed up at the right time. My knight in shining armor,” you joke.
Mingi blushes furiously, bringing up a hand to rub the back of his head and looking off to the side.
“It’s nothing,” he says. “I’m just glad everything worked out.”
You nod, unsure of what to say next.
Mingi’s head suddenly snaps to the side, looking at something down the hallway, almost as if he heard something. You frown. You didn’t hear anything.
“Well, it looks like I have to get going,” he begins.
You nod.
“Better get back before the big boss gets mad at you for slacking off, huh?”
You say it as a joke, but Mingi only lets out a nervous laugh.
“Yeah, something like that.”
“Um,” you’re not quite sure what to say. “Okay, well thanks again Mingi, I really do appreciate it.” You slowly begin to shut the door.
“Anytime,” he sends you a small wave and bright smile, turning to walk down the hallway as you finally shut the door.
You don’t spend too much time thinking about Mingi’s strange behavior at the end, chalking it up to him having a really strict boss. Plus, you honestly can’t wait to change into your pajamas and knock out.
Dropping your purse on your couch, you make your way to your room and quickly change into your pj’s before flinging yourself onto your bed.
You hug the stuffed bear on your bed closely, feeling the tension and stress from your body slowly begin to fade away as your body succumbs to sleep.
-
You’re not sure what time it is when you wake up.
The lack of light coming in from outside lets you know that it’s dark, leaving you to assume it’s either really late or really early.
You roll back over, fully intending on returning to dreamland when the sound of hushed arguing catches your attention.
You groan, assuming it’s your neighbors who are always going at it. Seriously, if they argue this much, they should just break up. Arguing that much can’t be healthy for anyone.
You’ve just grabbed onto your pillow, intending on using it to block out the voices, when you suddenly realize that it’s only male voices you can hear. Sitting up, you strain your ears to try and catch more of what they’re saying.
You feel yourself freeze when you realize that the voices are coming from your living room.
You sit frozen on your bed for a few minutes, unsure of what to do.
Did these people break into your apartment? What are they doing here? What are they going to do to you?
Reaching out blindly, you attempt to locate your phone, hoping you can at least call the police before the robbers can reach you. Pressing the power button, your heart drops when it doesn’t turn on. In your excitement to knock out, you never put it to charge and now it’s dead.
Taking a deep breath, you try to think of a course of action.
Slowly getting out of bed, you reach under the bed to grab the metal bat that you keep in case of emergencies. Maybe, if the robbers don’t have any weapons, you can either scare them off or hurt them enough to grab the home phone sitting on your kitchen counter and call the police.
You cautiously make your way to the door of your bedroom, letting out a shaky breath before slowly twisting the doorknob. You gently push the door open, thanking whatever gods are out there that it doesn’t make any noise.
Now that the door is open, you can hear the voices more clearly.
“Why would you show yourself to her?”
“What did you want me to do? She was having the worst day, I wasn’t gonna sit back and watch her suffer.” The voice sounds oddly familiar.
Someone else hums.
“Don’t even say anything,” the original voice whispers angrily. “You should have never interfered earlier.”
“She was about to get hit by a car, hyung! What did you want me to do, let it happen? Then we would be back to square one all over again.”
It’s a different voice this time, slightly higher in pitch.
They’re talking about what happened to you earlier.
Who the fuck are these people?
You arrive at the corner of the hallway, gripping your bat impossibly tight and peeking around the corner.
From what you can see, there’s a few men standing in your living room. One with dark blue hair sits on your couch facing the kitchen, another stands with his back to the hallway where you stand, and there seems to be someone standing in front of him.
You can’t help but let out a small gasp when you realize the man standing with his back facing you has short pink hair.
Mingi.
All three men whip their heads around.
They stare at you wide-eyed, including Mingi.
You come out from behind the corner and point your bat at the men.
“Who the fuck are you?” you demand. “And why the fuck are you in my apartment?”
Your eyes dart around, trying to keep an eye on every person in the room. Your heart pounds in your chest and your hands are sweaty, but you’ll be damned if you go out without a fight.
Mingi takes a step forward, his hands raised slightly.
“(Y/n),” he starts.
He stops when you take a step backward.
“Mingi, if that’s even your goddam name,” you spit. You miss the way all three men flinch slightly. “What the fuck are you doing in my apartment?”
“Was helping me earlier just a plot to figure out where I live? Are you gonna kill me?” you question.
A crestfallen look falls on Mingi’s face. A small part of you almost wants to feel bad. Almost.
“No, not at all,” he defends. “Look, it’s kind of complicated, but I can explain. I just need you to put the bat down.” His eyes dart to the metal bat you have a death grip on.
You let out a harsh laugh.
“No fucking way. I don’t care who the hell you are, I need you and your friends to get out right now before I call the cops.” You demand.
“The cops aren’t going to help you sweetheart,” a voice comes from behind you.
You let out a scream, turning around and blindly swinging your bat. It hits something hard.
“OW!”
A man with long hair that’s black and silver hunches over in front of you, clutching his stomach. You stare wide-eyed.
There’s more of them.
And where the fuck are they coming from?
“(Y/n),” someone else says your name. You whip back around, moving backward towards the wall and making sure the men don’t leave your sight. You keep the bat pointed at them.
The man with dark blue hair siting on the couch is standing now, and he looks at you with wide eyes as well.
“Please, just put the bat down and we can explain everything to you.”
You shake your head vehemently.
“You guys broke into my fucking apartment and you want me to calm down?” You laugh incredulously. “Are you guys fucking insane?”
You miss the way the shorter male standing next to Mingi has disappeared.
Mingi frowns, looking genuinely saddened.
“I’m really sorry we have to do this.”
You furrow your eyebrows, now genuinely concerned he’s going to murder you.
“What are you-”
You don’t get to finish your sentence when you feel fingers touch your temple and you black out.
-
“What did you do?”
“What we had to! She already managed to hit Wooyoung and she was obviously freaking out so we had to calm her down!”
Someone snickers.
“Shut up Yeosang.”
“C’mon, you’re telling me it’s a bat that took you out?”
“She has a good swing! You should try getting a metal bat swung directly at your stomach and see how you feel.”
You let out a soft groan at the voices that surround you. They’re too loud.
You’re laying on something soft and it feels familiar as well.
Am I dead?
“You’re not dead.”
Your eyes shoot open.
Sitting up, you groan at the light that shines harshly into your room and shut your eyes. Opening them softly, you glance around. You’re definitely in your room, which is a relief.
But the eight bodies that surround you bring anything but relief.
You tense up, your hands gripping at the sheets.
You can feel tears beginning to blur your vision and you can hear your heartbeat in your ears.
“Please don’t hurt me,” you whimper.
Someone lets out a sad noise.
“We’re not going to hurt you,” a deep voice comes from your right side.
You look over to see who said that. Familiar brown eyes stare deeply into your own, and the soft pink hair instantly allows you to recognize who just spoke.
“How can I trust you Mingi?”
A heartbroken expression falls over his face and he looks unsure of what to say.
“He’s right sweetheart,” another voice speaks up. “We’re not going to hurt you.” This time it’s another tall man who speaks. He has peach colored hair. His eyes bore into yours, and you feel slightly unnerved at the raw honesty that comes across.
You don’t say anything, opting to take a glance at all the men who are spread across your room.
A shorter man who stands closest to your bed sighs and takes a step forward.
“This isn’t how we wanted to meet, so please accept our deepest apologies for scaring you,” the man begins.
“We’re your guardian angels.”
-
The man, Hongjoong, had explained to you that they were in fact your guardian angels.
Typically, humans only had one guardian angel, he had explained, but you were assigned eight.
Guardian angels were also never, under any circumstances, to reveal themselves to their humans, but some people, Hongjoong glared at the man sitting at your desk with dark blue hair as well as Mingi, had broken these rules.
Which is why you were currently able to see all of them.
“How do I even know you’re telling me the truth?” You questioned. This entire situation was absolutely insane and you could barely wrap your head around any of the information that was just given to you.
“Well, we’ve been watching over you your whole life,” the blue haired male spoke up. “Ask us anything that no one else knows and we can answer it.”
You stayed quiet for a moment, thinking about different things throughout your life that no one knew about you.
“When I was in middle school and I asked out that boy a year ahead of me, what did he say?”
There’s no way they could know the answer to this. This is literally something I’ve never told anyone and I intend on taking it with me to my grave.
“He said no because you reminded him of his mom and that grossed him out.”
You stare wide-eyed at the man with medium length blonde hair that sat in the middle of your floor.
What the fuck?
“Don’t worry, you honestly dodged a bullet with that one,” another male with cherry red hair shook his head. “You know that guy ended up marrying his first cousin?” The man snorted.
You had no words.
You had never told anyone that secret because it embarrassed you so much, but clearly, the men in front of you knew it.
Maybe they’re telling the truth.
“Of course we’re telling the truth, we’re angels.”
The man with two-toned hair speaks up.
You narrow your eyes at him.
“Did you just read my thoughts?”
He shrugs.
“They’re very loud.”
You stare at him.
“Do you want me to hit you with my bat again?”
The man shudders.
“Please, don’t.”
Another voice speaks up.
“You’re taking this surprisingly well,” the man with peach hair pipes in.
You shrug.
“I don’t really have any reason to doubt you, I guess.” You hesitate before saying your next words. “Plus, I don’t know what it is, but you guys have this vibe,” you gesture your hand vaguely.
“It feels...safe?” You shrug, looking down at the spare thread you’ve been messing with since you woke up. “I felt it when I met Mingi earlier, but I didn’t know what to think about it.”
You miss the way Mingi’s ears turn red.
An awkward silence falls across the room.
“Well,” another man, the one who stands next to Hongjoong, begins to speak. “Now that that’s done, we should introduce ourselves. I’m Seonghwa,” he sends you a beautiful smile.
“I’m Hongjoong, as you already know,” Hongjoong says and you nod.
“My name’s Yunho,” the man with peach hair speaks up.
“I’m San,” the man with dark blue hair pipes up, sending you a bright, dimpled smile. You can’t help but send him a small smile back.
“I’m Yeosang,” the blonde one on your floor gives you a small nod of acknowledgement.
“I’m Wooyoung!” Two-toned hair chirps loudly. You can’t help but side-eye him slightly. “What?” he cries.
“Please don’t sneak up on me if you don’t want me to hit you again,” you warn.
A few snickers sound throughout the room.
“I’m Jongho,” the one with cherry hair tells you.
Your eyes land on the last man who sits closest to you.
“I’m Mingi,” he says. “But, you already know that.”
You nod. He still seems a little bit sad.
You hesitate, but reach out to softly grab his hand that rests on your bed.
“Thank you for your help earlier,” you start. “And I’m sorry I didn’t believe you at first.”
You glance around the room.
“But, you guys have to understand that this whole situation is kind of crazy.”
Seonghwa nods.
“We understand, and we’re sorry for scaring you so much.” He nods his head toward Mingi and San. “But those two broke one of the most important rules that guardian angels must follow.”
You nod, understanding what Seonghwa’s saying.
“Wait,” your eyebrows furrow. “I know Mingi broke the rule when he helped me get back inside my apartment, but what did San do?”
You look at him as he crosses his arms and pouts, reminding you of a scolded child.
“He’s the one that pulled you out of the street yesterday before the car could hit you,” Wooyoung explains.
Your eyes widen and you sit up even further.
“So I was right!” you exclaim.
Mingi raises a brow.
“I knew I felt someone grab my hands and pull me forward, but the lady who helped me said there was no one there!” You pout slightly. “I thought I was going crazy for a second.”
You look over at San.
“Thank you for saving my life,” you tell him sincerely.
San throws his hands up in the air.
“See? At least she’s grateful for what I did!”
Yeosang rolls his eyes.
“Of course she is, you idiot, she would’ve been dead if you hadn’t.”
This time, you don’t miss the way they all seem to wince at Yeosang’s words.
You frown.
“Yeah, actually,” you begin. “If you guys are my guardian angels, how come I almost died yesterday?” You look at them expectantly. “Isn’t the whole point of you guys being here to like, keep me alive?”
They avoid your eyes.
“We were a little...preoccupied,” Hongjoong admits.
You click your tongue.
“Well, at least San was there for me.”
You send a grateful smile to him, which he returns with slightly red cheeks.
“Hey!” Mingi whines. “I helped you too!”
You roll your eyes.
“Yes you did, you big baby, but San literally saved my life,” you emphasize.
“And I didn’t?” Mingi asks, offended. “What if I never showed up? You would’ve had to sleep on the streets and who knows what would’ve happened then?”
“Oh my god,” you groan, throwing yourself back on your bed.
“I didn’t know angels were this dramatic!”
Jongho lets out a laugh.
“The most,” he admits.
The sound of your stomach rumbling has a warm flush spreading across your cheeks.
“You haven’t eaten?” Yunho furrows his eyebrows.
“Mmmm, not since breakfast yesterday, I think,” you admit.
Wooyoung jumps out of his chair.
“Don’t worry sweetheart, I’ll make you the best meal you’ve ever had,” he sends you a small wink before heading out of your room towards the kitchen.
“He’s not going to burn my apartment down right?” You ask worriedly.
Hongjoong shakes his head.
“No, Wooyoung’s actually a really good cook,” he reassures you.
“Plus,” San says. “You have seven angels here to protect you if anything!”
You’re not sure if that makes you feel any better.
As it turns out, Hongjoong was right, and Wooyoung is an excellent cook. In a span of 20 minutes, he’s managed to make you an omelet that looks like it came straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie, along with some oatmeal, fresh fruit, and what looks like freshly squeezed orange juice.
“Wow,” you gape at the food.
Wooyoung motions for you to sit at the table.
“It was meant for you to eat, not just stare at.”
You happily oblige, sitting down at the table and bringing up the fork to your mouth, only to pause when you realize no one else has food.
“We don’t have to eat,” Seonghwa explains, reading your mind. “We can if we want to, but it’s not necessary for us to survive.”
You nod, feeling a little less guilty about eating in front of them.
Letting out a satisfied hum at the taste of the food, you send Wooyoung a thumbs-up. He smiles brightly.
“So,” you start, swallowing your food and taking a quick sip of your juice. “Now that I’ve met you guys and I know you exist, are you going to go back to being invisible to me?”
Hongjoong and Seonghwa share a look.
“Not exactly,” Hongjoong says.
You raise an eyebrow, motioning for him to continue.
“Now that you know we exist, we can’t exactly just disappear,” he elaborates. “It’s one of the reasons guardian angels aren’t meant to reveal themselves to their humans.”
You nod slowly.
“So, humans just never find out they have a guardian angel? Like, ever?”
Jongho mutters something under his breath. Yunho kicks his leg under the table.
“Sorry, what was that?” You ask, looking at him.
He avoids your gaze.
A tense silence falls over the table.
You notice how Mingi shakes his leg anxiously. San taps his fingers on the table and Yunho avoids your gaze.
You narrow your eyes at them.
“There’s something you guys aren’t telling me.” It’s not a question.
“I don’t think now is the best time to talk about this-” Hongjoong starts.
“Humans only find out about their guardian angels when their time is near,” Wooyoung says calmly.
Hongjoong glares at him. Wooyoung only shrugs.
“What? She was bound to find out eventually.”
“Their time?” You look around at the men that sit at your table. “Like, when they’re about to die?”
Yeosang nods.
You let out a small “oh”, looking down at the unfinished food that stares at you.
It’s silent as you think about the information they’ve just given you.
“The car,” you swallow. “The car that almost hit me yesterday. Was it,” you almost can’t get the words out. “Was it supposed to hit me?”
Your question comes out in a whisper.
No one responds, but when you look up, they all fix you with a sad look.
You nod.
“Okay.”
You push your plate away from you.
You don’t have an appetite anymore.
“I’m sorry,” Mingi whispers from your left side.
His large hand gently encompasses yours. You nod, refusing to look him in the eyes.
“But we’re not going to let you die.”
You look up at San’s determined voice, barely able to see him through your misty eyes.
“What?”
“We’re not letting you die,” he says firmly. “It’s not your time.”
You shake your head.
“I’m pretty sure if the universe decides it’s my time, then it’s my time,” you reply. You’re not sure if you’re saying it to convince them, or yourself.
“I can’t just avoid fate.”
Hongjoong sighs.
“San’s right.”
You send him a questioning look.
“We’re your guardian angels. We’re not going to let you die.”
“Screw what the universe says,” Yeosang chimes in.
You stare at them incredulously.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Look,” Yunho starts. “We’ve been thinking about it, and we’re pretty sure the universe is wrong about it being your time. We’ve been around for centuries, usually we have a good sense of when it’s going to be someone’s time and when it’s not.”
“And we don’t get that feeling with you,” Jongho continues for him. “We never have.”
“So, we’re going to do our best to make sure you stay out of harms way,” Yeosang finishes.
Your throat feels constricted and you can barely see through all the tears that have welled up in your eyes.
“You guys would do all that for me?” You choke out.
Mingi squeezes your hand.
“Of course. We’re not your guardian angels for nothing.”
You sniffle, looking down at your lap and bringing up your other hand to wipe at your eyes.
“Thank you guys,” you tell them sincerely.
“Anything for you,” Seonghwa smiles softly.
-
After the conversation at breakfast, the nine of you come up with a vague plan Wooyoung affectionally dubbed “Keeping Our Human Alive”. Despite the look you had given him, you had to admit, it made you laugh.
You all agreed it would be best for at least one of them to accompany you every day, more if any of them felt like tagging along.
“That way,” Hongjoong explained, “if anything unexpected happens, at least one of us will be able to protect you.”
You agreed.
“What about when I go to work and stuff?” You had questioned. “Won’t it be weird if there’s a different guy following me around every day?”
Yunho shook his head.
“Just because you can see us doesn’t mean everyone else can see us too. We can make ourselves visible to other people besides our assigned human if we want,” he explained.
“Oh, okay. Well, that certainly makes this easier then.”
“What would you prefer for us to do?” Questioned San. “Do you want us to remain invisible all the time or only at work?”
You think it over for a minute before shrugging.
“Honestly, whatever’s most comfortable for all of you. I would prefer if at work you guys are invisible, but while we’re in public and stuff, whatever you guys feel comfortable with is fine by me.”
At your answer, they all give you fond looks which makes your face feel slightly warm. Clearing your throat, you continue.
“Also, I was thinking about it and if you guys are going to be with me 24/7 now, we need some ground rules.”
Jongho chuckled.
“Technically, we’ve always been here, you’ve just barely found out.”
You realize he’s right, and the memories of every single embarrassing thing that you’ve ever done in the privacy of your own home comes rushing back to you.
“Well, yeah, now that I know you guys are here,” you stumble over your words slightly. “Privacy is really big for me. I don’t have many rules, but I just ask that you guys don’t show up unannounced or else that might really freak me out, and please, if you’re going to come into my room, just knock.”
Everyone nods their heads in agreement.
“And,” you continue, “no more reading my thoughts please.”
Only a few of them nod, which makes you grow slightly concerned.
“Is that a problem?” You ask, a slight edge to your voice.
“Not at all,” Seonghwa reassures.
“It’s just that we do get a little concerned for when you’re alone. Being aware of your thoughts helps us decide if you need our help at that moment or not,” Hongjoong explains.
You nod.
“I get that, but if at least one of you is going to be by my side every single day from now on, I really don’t think there’s any need for you to read my thoughts.”
You continue.
“Plus, it’s really just about privacy for me. I don’t really feel comfortable with you guys having access to every single thought in my head, no matter how big or small.”
Hongjoong and Seonghwa both nod.
“We understand. And we’ll do our best to respect your boundaries.”
“Thank you guys,” you send them a small smile.
“Plus, if I need any help or anything, I’ll just yell out ‘bat’ really loud,” you joke, referring to the bruise you might’ve left on Wooyoung’s stomach.
Everyone laughs except for him.
“Not funny,” he pouts.
You let out a small giggle, patting him lightly on the arm.
“You did kind of deserve it, my friend.”
Clapping your hands together, you let out a deep exhale.
“Now that that’s all settled, I need to go grocery shopping. All of you are more than welcome to come.”
A few of them look very excited, which both excites you and makes you slightly nervous.
“Thank you for the invitation,” Hongjoong starts. “But Seonghwa and I will have to pass this time.”
You pout slightly.
“Aw man.”
“Trust me,” Seonghwa starts. “We would love to go on our first official errand run with you, little one, but we have some business to deal with upstairs.”
He uses his index finger to point up and you look up as well.
Upstairs?
“Ohhhh, you mean, like, heaven and all that,” you laugh nervously at your lack of understanding.
The two men nod.
“But don’t worry, we should be back by the end of the day,” Hongjoong reassures you.
“Don’t worry guys,” Mingi slings an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into his side. “We’ve got this.”
Hongjoong and Seonghwa stare at the male by your side, slightly unamused.
“That’s what we’re scared of.”
-
It’s officially been about a week since your near death experience and finding out about your guardian angels.
While having all of them around had certainly been awkward at first, you’ve all slowly begun to fall into a routine. Sometimes, you feel as though you’ve known them your whole life.
Which, to a certain extent, you kind of have.
Something about having them around just makes you feel incredibly safe and warm inside. Not to mention the slight butterflies you’ve been experiencing around them, but you’re quick to try and cage them as soon as they appear.
Wooyoung and Seonghwa have taken it upon themselves to cook most of the meals for the nine of you. Every day when you come home from work, you can always count on a warm, freshly cooked meal to be waiting on the table for you.
“You’re kind of like my house husbands,” you joked to them one time.
Seonghwa blushed, while Wooyoung had blown you a kiss.
“Anything for you sweetheart.”
Yunho and Mingi are the two that typically accompany you to work, although sometimes Jongho will tag along if he doesn’t have anything else to do. Despite the tall men’s playful personalities, they were both incredibly smart and helped you with your work whenever you felt particularly stressed out.
San was certainly one of the more playful angels, you had noticed.
Although all of them were fun to be around, San was always the first to notice when your mood wasn’t the best, and he was the best at comforting you after a long day. A bad day at work usually ended with San waiting for you with open arms as soon as you walked through the door for some cuddles and quiet time.
When Wooyoung and Mingi had found out about this little routine, they both immediately demanded to be allowed into the “cuddle time” as they called it.
Jongho and Yeosang were the two individuals who you enjoyed spending some quiet time with. The three of you would usually wind down together with some tea and some books or a show. Although they were a little more reserved than the others, you still genuinely enjoyed your time with both of them.
But they certainly had their moments where they could be just as chaotic as the others.
Exhibit A was the day you walked into your apartment to see Yeosang and Yunho standing in your kitchen covered in flour.
“What happened?” you had asked, absolutely astounded by the amount of flour that somehow managed to cover every inch of your kitchen. You didn’t even think you had that much flour to begin with.
The two of them sheepishly admitted that they were trying to bake some cookies, but things had gotten out of hand.
Clicking your tongue, you walked over to the roll of paper towels to begin cleaning up.
“What am I going to do with you guys-”
You had just turned around when the feeling of something soft and powdery hit your face. You sputtered, staring wide-eyed at the two angels. Yunho looked at you and then turned to Yeosang, who avoided your eyes.
What followed next was a flour fight that resulted in a very long clean-up shift.
There was also the time you found out Jongho literally had the voice of an angel.
The two of you were headed to your local plant store to look for some new plants to decorate your apartment with when one of your favorite songs came on the radio.
Turning the volume up, you began singing along softly as did Jongho. As the song continued, his voice grew louder, and when the two of you reached a red light, you were unable to do anything except stare at him slack-jawed at the voice that was coming out of him. Only the sound of the car behind you honking was able to shake you out of your stupor.
Now, you guys have little karaoke parties in your car when the two of you are alone.
The only angel you had yet to spend a lot of time with, however, was Hongjoong.
The man always seemed to be busy, as he was hardly ever in your actual apartment. Most mornings when you woke up, he was gone and he wouldn’t show up until the evenings.
You would be lying if you said the hushed arguments he would have with some of the others didn’t concern you. They always occurred at night, when they assumed you were fast asleep. And they always revolved around the same thing.
“She’s not the exact same, and that’s okay, but you guys can’t keep expecting her to be the same as our (Y/n).” You heard Hongjoong say one night.
You had been unable to fall back asleep after that.
Today, though, you really needed to go to the post office, and Hongjoong was the only angel available to accompany you.
You stood awkwardly at the end of your table where Hongjoong sat using your laptop to do something.
“Uh,” you clear your throat. “Hongjoong?”
He looks up a little startled.
“(Y/n),” he acknowledges. “Is everything okay?” He looks at you concerned.
“Yeah everything’s fine!” You reassure him.
“I just need to run a quick errand and the others are all busy so I was wondering if you could go with me,” you trail off.
God this is awkward.
To your surprise, although you really shouldn’t be, he nods his head quickly.
“Yeah of course. We can go now, if you’re ready?”
“Cool, let me just grab my bag and we can get going!” You rush to your room to grab your bag before walking back to the front door where Hongjoong already waits for you.
The two of you agree to make the short walk to the post office, commenting on how the nice weather is today.
Exiting through the front gates of your apartment, you two begin walking down the sidewalk shoulder to shoulder in silence.
“So is-”
“I wanted-”
The two of you start talking at the same time.
You both let out a laugh and you can feel your shoulders relax a bit.
“Go ahead,” you allow Hongjoong to speak first.
He takes a deep breath.
“I just wanted to apologize for the way I’ve been acting lately,” he says as he stares into your eyes.
You have to admit, that’s not what you were expecting him to say.
“Huh?”
“I’ve been really distant and pre-occupied lately,” Hongjoong continues. “And I know you’ve noticed, so I want to sincerely apologize. There’s been a lot of stuff I’ve been dealing with and I don’t want you to think I don’t like this,” he gestures between the two of you, “thing we have going on.”
You shake your head.
“No, please don’t feel like you have to apologize Hongjoong. To be completely honest, I have no clue what it is you guys have to deal with in the first place, but I’m really grateful you’ve all gone out of your way to help me.”
You let out a small, sad laugh.
“If I’m being honest, I don’t really get why you guys are helping me in the first place. I’m sure you’ve all had hundreds of different assigned humans throughout your existence, so I’m nothing special.”
Hongjoong stops abruptly and turns to face you.
“That’s not true,” he says firmly. The serious expression on his face has you taken aback.
“What?”
“You said you’re nothing special. That’s not true.”
Hongjoong sighs and grabs both of your hands.
“Look, it’s complicated to explain, and I will tell you, but we agreed we all wanted to tell you together. So, if you’re okay with waiting, I can tell you everything that’s been going on as soon as we get back to your apartment.”
You would be lying if you said his words don’t scare you a little bit.
“It’s okay Hongjoong, you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to,” you reassure him, softly running your fingers over his knuckles.
He shakes his head.
“I- We all want to tell you, and you deserve to know the truth.”
You nod your head.
“Okay. Back at my apartment it is then,” you send him a small smile, which he returns.
“Before we head to the post office,” you start. “Do you want to visit my favorite cafe with me?”
Hongjoong smiles softly at you.
“I would love to.”
You guys continue walking down the few blocks and after a few minutes, you both stand at the stoplight that sits across from the cafe. You and Hongjoong laugh at the stories you tell him about the antics Yunho and Mingi get up to when you’re at work. The light turns green, and you begin to cross the street.
“I’m telling you, I just told them about this lady in my office who’s always getting on my nerves and they made it their mission to inconvenience her in every way possible!” You exclaim.
Hongjoong lets out a hearty laugh and you smile widely at how relaxed he looks.
Just as your about to continue your story, you notice the wind blowing your letter out of your purse.
Cursing, you tell Hongjoong to wait on the sidewalk while you run quickly after the paper. The letter lands in the middle of crosswalk and you’ve just barely managed to pick it up when the sound of someone yelling your name makes you whip around.
Coming towards you at a terrifying speed is a car.
You stand frozen in the middle of street, unable to move your feet.
You barely manage to catch a glimpse of Hongjoong’s terrified face when you feel your body get thrown back, and everything turns black.
-
You stand in a green field.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and you can feel the warm sun and cool breeze on your skin.
Looking around, you notice a large, crystal blue lake in the distance. Your legs begin to take you in that direction on their own accord.
You reach the lake and crouch down, slightly dipping your hand in the cool water. Soft ripples make their way across the surface of the water and you can’t help but feel completely at ease in this place.
Whatever this place is.
As you continue staring down into the water, you notice your reflection seems to look different.
The you staring back has much longer hair than you currently have, and the clothes your reflection wears is older, looking like they come from an early Victorian age.
You tilt your head to the side and notice that your reflection’s head doesn’t move.
A voice sounds out through your mind.
“You need to go back.”
“Go back?” You whisper aloud.
Your reflection nods.
“They need you.”
Other you doesn’t specify who you two are talking about, but deep down, you think you already know the answer.
Your reflection sends you a gentle smile before disappearing. You watch as the water returns to its calm state before gently pushing yourself back up to your feet.
You take one last look around the field you’re in, before closing your eyes.
-
The first thing you notice is how dark it is.
You can hear the sounds of people talking and crying around you, and you can feel hands softly grabbing your body, but you’re unable to open your eyes or move.
“Please,” someone whispers over your body.
“Please don’t leave us again.”
You lose consciousness once again.
-
The next time you wake up, your entire body hurts.
You let out a soft groan, slowly opening your eyes and allowing them to adjust to the soft light of your lamp.
Something heavy rests near your right hand, and turning your head slightly, you can see a head of familiar pink hear laying down next to you.
Using what little strength you have in your body, you raise your hand and gently rest it on Mingi’s head. Softly, you run your fingers through the short strands on his head.
He makes an inaudible noise and turns his head over so that you can now see his face. As you continue stroking his head, his eyes flutter open. He looks a little bit confused for a few seconds before his body is shooting up and he stares at you shocked.
“(Y/n),” he whispers softly.
“Hi Mingi,” you reply.
You watch as tears well up in his eyes and he throws himself on top of you, mindful to not rest his entire body weight on you. You can hear footsteps rushing towards your room before your bedroom door is being slammed open.
You can barely see over Mingi’s broad back that covers your frame, but you already know who it is.
As Mingi releases you, you attempt to sit up, only to stop and hiss in pain when jolts of pain shoot up your back.
“Be careful, little one,” Seonghwa says, moving forward to help adjust some pillows behind you.
You thank him and take a moment to look around at each of the men that surrounds your bed. You notice the dark circles under their eyes and the way their skin seems to lack it’s normal glow.
“You guys look worse than I feel,” you joke, trying to lighten the mood.
Yeosang frowns.
“You’ve been out for 4 days, sunflower.”
You blink harshly.
“Four days?”
Jongho nods.
“The worst four days of our entire existence,” he says.
You look down at the blanket that rests on your lap.
“I’m sorry.”
You’re not quite sure what you’re apologizing for.
“No I’m sorry.”
It’s Hongjoong who speaks.
He comes to your side, falling onto his knees beside your bed and taking your hand into his. He leans down to rest his forehead against your hand.
“I’m so sorry, my love,” he cries.
“I should’ve known. I should’ve seen the car coming, I should’ve moved faster, I should’ve gotten you out of the way-” he sobs.
“No, Hongjoong,” you shake your head. “There’s nothing you could’ve done, the car came out of nowhere and it was too fast.”
“I don’t think you understand,” Yunho whispers.
“We swore to never let you pass before your time again.”
You can’t help the confused look you give them, but then, you remember the reflection you saw in the lake.
How the person looked just like you, but from a different era.
The arguments you heard Hongjoong have with the others.
Softly resting your palm on Hongjoong’s tear stained face, you speak.
“I need you guys to explain everything to me.”
-
All nine of you sit in your living room.
The boys helped you get settled on the couch, where you sit with San and Wooyoung flanking both of your sides. Hongjoong and Seonghwa sit across from you three while Mingi sits on the floor next to your legs. Yunho sits to the right of San and Yeosang and Jongho remain standing, but still close.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve met you,” Hongjoong begins.
“We’ve been very lucky to have met you almost every single time you’ve been reborn.”
Yeosang continues.
“The first time we met you was an accident. You happened to stumble upon me when I was helping a wounded human at the time. Soon after, I introduced you to the others.”
“But I thought the only time humans could see a guardian angel was when they were close to death?” You questioned.
Jongho nods sadly.
“You passed away shortly after meeting the rest of us.”
“In almost every single life where you’ve been reborn,” Wooyoung explains.
“We’ve managed to find you, but we’ve never been granted the luxury of time.”
You softly run your fingers through his hair, hearing the tremble of his voice as he speaks.
“The last two times that you’ve been born, we’ve been fortunate enough to be your guardian angels,” Seonghwa smiles.
“But in your last life, you passed away prematurely,” San says.
You turn your head towards him.
“A freak accident that we weren’t able to save you from.”
Mingi turns around to look up at you from where he rests by your legs.
“We failed you,” he whispers sadly.
You shake your head.
“You guys didn’t fail me. Not then, and not now. Just because you guys are angels doesn’t mean you can control everything that happens.”
“Sometimes,” you take a deep breath. “Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can’t always protect the ones you love.”
“But we have to,” Hongjoong says, looking you in the eye. “Not only is that our job, but for selfish reasons too.”
He looks down at his hands.
“We couldn’t take watching you die another time.”
It’s silent for a moment.
“How am I still here then?”
Hongjoong looks back up at you.
“We made a deal.”
You send him a questioning look.
“A deal?”
All the men surrounding you nod.
“What kind of deal?” You prod, noticing how they seem to hesitate to give you more details.
“Our life in exchange for yours.”
You inhale sharply, the sudden movement causing pain to shoot up your back. Wooyoung and San attempt to soothe your pain, but your mind is only focused on the information they just gave you.
“What?”
“We made a deal with God,” Yunho starts. “Our status in heaven as guardian angels, in exchange for the guarantee that you would live a full life.”
“What?” you say breathlessly. “Why, why would you guys do that?”
“Because we’re selfish,” Jongho says, looking at you with such tenderness you’re unsure of what to do with yourself.
“And we don’t care about being angels or having those powers and helping others if it means we have to live in a world without you in it,” Mingi finishes.
Tears begin to well up and spill out of your eyes before you can stop them. San and Wooyoung cuddle impossibly closer to you, hugging you tightly while the others watch on with misty eyes.
“Thank you,” you sob into your hands. “Thank you.”
They all smile.
-
It’s been about a month since you almost (should’ve) died.
In that month, the ex-angels did their best to help you recover from your injuries, although they certainly complained about no longer having healing powers to help stop you from being pain.
“Welcome to the life of being a human,” you rolled your eyes.
“This is lame, maybe we should’ve stayed as angels,” Wooyoung muttered.
You smacked him on the chest, ignoring his yelp and complaints.
“Don’t make me bring out the bat again,” you warned.
After you were fully recovered, you focused on helping the boys adjust to their new lives as humans.
“Why do we have to walk everywhere?” Mingi groaned, dragging his feet behind you.
You rolled your eyes.
He’s just like a little kid.
“Because my car can only fit four of you, but all eight of you decided to accompany me to the store,” you remind him.
He says nothing, but you could still hear his grumbling.
As they’ve slowly adjusted to human life, the nine of you have fallen into a smooth routine that’s oddly domestic.
Wooyoung and Seonghwa continue to cook the meals for you guys, and you all make an effort to eat at least one meal together a day.
Seeing as most of them aren’t morning people, you typically opt to eat dinner together instead.
You’ve also decided to introduce them to your favorite bookstore.
“How ironic,” you muse, walking hand in hand with San and Yunho as you all approach the quaint shop.
“What is, sunflower?” Yeosang questions.
“This bookstore is the whole reason I met you guys in the first place,” you give San’s hand a small squeeze.
He squeezes it back three times.
Later that night, when you’ve all returned home, you guys decide to have a small movie night.
After arguing over what movie to watch, Jongho insisted on watching a horror movie, which Mingi complained about loudly.
Not that it mattered, most everyone ended up falling asleep by the time the film was halfway over, including yourself.
You could hear the sound of someone moving around quietly in the living room and turned your head to the side, burying your face deeper into Mingi’s chest. The feeling of a blanket being laid over the two of you was welcomed.
You felt someone leave a soft kiss on the side of your head.
“Goodnight my love,” Hongjoong whispered softly. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
You hummed in reply, falling back asleep perfectly content and safe in the presence of your lovers.
                                        ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

In God he trusted, once. Hands lifted to the heavens, his voice a whisper. Lost in the boundless quiet, craving a taste of freedom. But the sky answered him in silence.
There lingered always the ghost of a chill, crawling down his spine, An endless watchfulness that scraped against his mind. It was not something he could name, for words failed, Could never capture the sickness festering deep within, A mind tormented and torn.
Through countless torments, memories twisted, He walked a path simple and pure, a single destination: Death, the dark and welcoming road. But cursed he was, unable to escape— For that nameless gaze refused him peace.
The entities would not wound him fatally, no scar became the last. Every exit sealed, every choice returned him to this bleak place. Sebastian Solace was bound here, tethered Neither in life nor in death, forsaken and trapped.
In the midnight silence, he could hear it: your weeping. He sought sleep, craved its mercy, for anything was kinder Than the echo of your cries in the stillness. Your eyes unseen, but he felt them always upon him.
An angel, he thought, watching over his suffering— Yet you were more than that, weren’t you? When he drowned, you cast him ashore, when he bled, you healed him, But only to wound him anew. Your touch was balm and blade. You—the kind, bitter chain that bound him here, in the dark of the Blacksite.
He cursed you, the forsaken guardian angel that you were, One that shielded him from all hands but his own. Each night he prayed, as your tears fell, That God would strike you down, would sever your wings and shatter your halo. For what he hoped would be solace, remained a dream, a dream that wasn't meant to be his, but yours alone.

A/N: i don't know what i'm doing. I'm sad. i don't even know how I'm gonna continue this story. i have nothing prepared for it. again, I'm just sad. i love you tho.
~
Guardian angels, beings as old as time. They exist and protect without getting bored or fed up. They are there even if people have created too many wars until they have stopped believing in them and in gods altogether.
She was the same, and although she wouldn’t know, she was a piece of art. Lilac hair and eyes, skin softer than silk and a voice so sweet it could melt mountains.
She had no name or age. She had a number. Angel number 11 was who she was. She had no family or friends.
But she had a human.
He was assigned to her and she was made for him. Her only purpose as a creature of the light was to look out for him and keep him safe.
What she wasn’t supposed to do though, was fall in love with him.
Unlike her, he had a name. He was James Buchanan Barnes. This handsome, brave, young man who got enlisted and was about to go fight for his country. He was so kind, so charming and so so far away.
She was very worried, her angelic heart only ever knowing these feelings for him, yet confident in her powers. She would never let anything bad happen to James, or Bucky as he liked to be called.
War or not, she had his back. He could walk through fire and she would get him out of there unharmed.
A
Sadly, all of her planning was burnt to ashes when her ‘superiors’ found out about her latent feelings for the human she was assigned to guard since birth.
It has never happened before. Or at least that was what they had said.
It was all the same with each and every one of them. They get assigned to a baby human, be it male or female, they look after the human all their life until they no longer have one and then they move on to another human.
No angel has ever broken the rules, let alone to this extent.
Why did she think she was going to get away with this? Why did she think she was any different? Who did she think she was trying to carelessly cross the clear boundaries?
The night they were sure she had those forbidden feelings for a lesser being, she was chained and temporarily deprived of her powers, and Bucky was captured by the enemy.
They left her alone to wallow in the dark and cry in worry about her beloved, wishing she was strong enough to get out of her shackles and go be with him in this time of war; in his time of need.
When they kept her there for days to give her a chance to have a ‘change of heart’, Bucky was experimented on and tortured by Hydra.
And when she begged, swearing on all things holy that she was past her silly feelings for him and was ready to go back to serving her part and her part alone, Steve had found Bucky and brought him back with him.
She saw the bruises on his face, the dried blood down his ears and she cried and cried until her eyes were out of diamonds.
She blamed herself for being sloppy with her feelings. She had to be careful if she wanted to stay by Bucky’s side. She had to step on her heart and suppress her emotions if she wanted to keep protecting the man she was in love with.
The way she was unknowingly being monitored, however, ruined everything for her and ended her life as she once knew it forever.
Bucky was being the good friend that he was, going with Steve to fight again, looking more courageous and more handsome than any human ever has.
She was so proud of him and her smile wasn’t missable.
They noticed the focus on her face as she made sure the rope Bucky used to descend on the back of the train held up. They noticed her angel heart and how its beats accelerated with every bullet she dodged for him.
They noticed and they had to stop it.
“You lied,” they said, coming prepared with stronger chains to lock her in.
“He needs me. Please let me be with him,” she begged instead of  finding a way to defend herself.
They didn’t care, hands already on her wings and others on her neck.
“It’s over. He’s on his own from now on and it’s your fault.”
They were punishing Bucky for her mistake. He was going to get hurt and it was all because of her stupidity.
“Please, no!”
They didn’t hear her pleas or her cries, or pity her heart-wrenching screams as they snapped both of her wings off her back at once.
The second she fell to her knees, bloodied and broken, Bucky fell off the train, her last sight of him being him trying to reach for Steve’s hand and failing.
“You’re gonna be in there for at least 80 years, better try to forget because when you’re out, he might be gone.” They advised with little sympathy as they threw her inside the dark cave-like cell.
If this was heaven, what was hell supposed to be like? She can’t be feeling her heart get crushed over and over like that in the one place that was supposed to be void of such bitter feelings, could she?
She cried and cried, day and night. The bright lilac of her pupils turning dim and dull.
Has she just caused Bucky’s death? Did she just kill the one man she was created to protect? The one man that had gotten her heart to beat?
Screaming until she couldn’t breathe, she mourned the man she has known and loved all her life.
Nothing mattered anymore. Not her wings or her imprisonment. Nothing made sense without Bucky. Her life didn’t make sense without Bucky’s.
They let him die. They let her watch him die. Her heart ached with the memory for nights on end even though she could still feel their bond as if Bucky was still there. It was weaker, but it was present.
She became quieter as the years passed, no longer singing or screaming or even talking. The heavens didn’t miss her though, but James sure did. They had too many of her kind, but James only had her. Such thoughts would attack her every night year after year until she would cry herself to exhaustion every night, eventually losing sense of time.
20 years later, she started having nightmares. Terrible, horrendous dreams of her long-missed beloved hurting others.
Her once gentlemanly, well-mannered, kind man was now ending lives in cold blood in her nightmares.
James looked different. His hair was longer, his face grimmer, his eyes darker and his left arm shinier. His warm gaze was replaced by a dead one she never knew.
Had she not known him with her heart before her eyes, she might have not recognized him.
She knew it was her James. She could feel him. She could never forget him even if she wanted to.
Their bond felt strained, weighed down and suffocated. She had no idea what that meant. She thought she was turning crazy, her mind conjuring up an evil version of James to make her fear him or hatr him or leave her memories of him behind for good.
But she would never. Let her turn crazy, she was still going to be in love with James until her last breath no matter what.
Another 50 years and her nightmares have been recurring visions that she was used to, and even waited for.
Any glimpse of James was welcome even if he was acting nothing like the James she had known and loved.
The hardest visions where the ones where she saw him get hurt, his pained screams pulling her heart out and shattering it.
It all felt so real and that made her hate it all more.
It took her a while but she eventually figured out that James was still alive. She didn’t understand how he didn’t age until the cryo-chamber visions came on. Her heart ached for him, bled and sobbed inside her chest for the man who was suffering because she couldn’t be there to protect him; because she let both herself and him fall.

You stood in the back of the banquet hall, eyes surveying the room like they did any other, as you tried to appear as nonchalant waitstaff for the function. That was your specialty: blending in to the background, and you were damn good at it. Tonight’s job was to do so as your were protecting the most important individuals entrusted to you: the First Lady and her son.
You moved with ease throughout the evening, keeping mobile with your head on a swivel, eyes never leaving your two clients for more than a couple seconds. After a cocktail hour, everyone had sat down for dinner and a round of awards and speeches, leaving you here for a relatively easy period.
You didn’t work alone, no. You were here as part of a group. Part of a company, actually, and it belonged to your father. He ran a security conglomerate which focused heavily on government contracting, ranging from secret service duties, to vehicle brigades, to protection and procurement of goods, virtual and physical, and you knew every single part of it. You loved your job, and you loved working with your dad. For as long as you could remember, you would spend all of your free time in his office with him as he went through schedules, and escape plans, and all sorts of strategies to keep his patrons and their assets safe. You were always flitting around, learning new things, earning you the nickname ‘tweety bird’ from him, which correlated to your codename Redwing.
You’d picked it all up so easily, you were a natural, which earned you your first presidential-adjacent gig much younger than anyone else around. Sure, it started as you going to school and posing as another student to protect the president’s son, even thought you were a few years out already, which wasn’t necessarily glamorous, since you were meant to fly under the radar, but it was an independent job. One that was coming to a close, though, as this was your eighth year of doing the same. Soon, the president would be out of office, and the security detail on his family would be greatly reduced, likely no longer requiring your services.
Even as you let your mind wander, blocking out the droning speeches and rich people backstories, you remained on high alert. If anything bad was going to happen, you had a feeling it would be at an event like this one. An event where everyone had their guard down because it was for a universally agreeable good cause. But for some reason, heading into it tonight, something was churning in your gut.
After not being able to ignore the way your stomach twisted and turned, you had gone to speak to your father about tonight, requesting backup in addition to your other two friends, Natasha and Daisy, who often accompanied you to guard shifts associated with larger crowds.
Usually he was on the same page as you, but lately, your requests had been met with more protest, likely due to your little brother’s input buzzing in your father’s ear.
Your brother, Dylan, had just freshly turned eighteen, and with it came more responsibility in the agency. For being so much younger than you, your father was giving him mountains of control, including this event of your two most important clients. With your request of a team came the the caveat that your brother would be leading it.
Dylan was, to put it nicely, an oaf? Incapable of performing a task without crashing and burning, which made your blood boil. Probably from the fires he created and you subsequently had to put out. You had no room to complain, though, as your father dismissed you from his office.
So Dylan ‘led’ your team this evening, packed with his twerp friends who were more capable, but just as reckless as him. They’d listen to some of your orders, but not without the confirmation of your brother, who knew better enough sometimes to listen to your input.
You let him think he was in the lead tonight, executing a plan you had essentially spoon fed to him in your meetings leading up to the event. There were several backup plans and exit strategies that had their own code names, made by you, of course. All Dylan, or ‘The Chief,’ as he liked to go as over coms, had to do was keep an eye out on the cameras for any suspicious activity around the venue, and be prepared to drive away if he called for extraction due to suspicious activity. That was it. You and your two trusty companions would take control of everything inside the banquet, while two of Dylan’s friends surveilled the outside. Should be easy, right?
Dylan had been instructed to give an update through your earpiece every three minutes, on any action seen in the camera footage. Every time he did, though, it was accompanied by music blasting in the car, and the increments kept getting further and further apart. Almost like he was forgetting about his responsibilities and the importance of this event on your shoulders, should something go wrong. You rolled your eyes and kept a watch of the room. If you had such little backup, it was on you now to do this job, without the team you had specifically requested.
Dylan’s friends seemed to go quiet, too, which you were hoping wasn’t due to capture or something worse, but when you heard conversation about a fantasy football draft in your ear, you knew they were at least alive, although not helpful at all.
You were sick of running blind, though, so you casually made it look like your were scratching your ear and turned away from the crowd.
“Chief, status report.” Nothing. You waited thirty seconds. Silence.
You turned back to the room, the gnawing feeling in your stomach growing as you looked out at the crowd. Natasha, code name Widow, was making her way around with a tray of champagne flutes. Daisy, codename Blossom, sat in a vent somewhere, watching from above and monitoring everyone’s trackers. The three of you sighed and continued on, hoping this night wouldn’t be every eventful, but that’s never how life goes, is it?
“Blossom, report on coms. Is everything working?”
You waited a second for the response.
“All is good, Redwing. It’s a human, not technology error.”
You rolled your eyes for the thousandth time that night, but were pulled out of your annoyance by a searing sound. In the next moment, just as you were about to ask for any other possible news from Daisy, a crackling took over your ear.
You fought the urge to wince and draw attention to yourself. It was probably Dylan finally getting back to you, but the voice that came through was one you’d never heard before. It was low and urgent.
“Get them out of there.”
You couldn’t help the way your eyes went wide and you whisper yelled, turning into the fake plant you found yourself nearby.
“Who is this? This is a secure line! What’s going on?”
You were surprised by the warning firmness of the speaker, it was menacing, who did this person think they were? Was that a threat?
“This is Bootleg. Your clients are in danger. What’s about to happen isn’t meant for them. Find a way to get them to leave.”
You sighed and nodded, although the disembodied voice named ‘Bootleg’ wasn’t reassuring. You knew to never turn down a tip, though. You weren’t going to risk it with clients like this. So you let out a sigh and made eye contact with Nat across the room.
“Execute plan beta sixteen alpha.”
She gave you a curt nod and increased her pace in a way only someone with your type of training could pick up. She was circling to make her movements seem undetectable, but she was ultimately going towards the First Lady and her son. Nat tripped, spilling the tray of champagne on their laps, causing them to gasp and look down. You could tell they were ready to yell, but they looked to your face and you nodded, signaling them to get up, brushing away anyone with apologies or offers for help, saying they were just going to clean up. The rest of the rich party goers didn’t pay it a second thought besides whispers of clumsy waitstaff. It’s not like they would bother to remember the face of one of them, though, and were too busy watching a fumbling Nat to see your approach to take your clients out of the venue. You did your best to move slowly to the same exit as them, and as soon as your bodies were behind the closed ballroom door, you were rushing them towards the back service door to get in Dylan’s getaway vehicle.
You ducked their heads under your arms as you rushed them out, and shoved them into the back of the town car, only giving a quick, breathless word to your clients and your brother.
“Take them home, Dyl. Fast. Don’t let yourself get tracked. I’ll take the decoy car. Go, now!”
He nodded like a bobble head, shifting the car in gear and peeling out of the lot as you jogged over to the other vehicle where Daisy and Nat were already waiting in the front seat for you. They moved fast.
You hopped in, Daisy expertly backing out until she hit the street. Just as she put it in drive, you flinched at a sudden noise and looked out the back window to where an explosion happened in front of the venue and soldiers dressed in all black rushed in through the cloud of smoke. This would definitely hit the news tomorrow, but you were sure your father would commend you for the safe delivery of two of his most important packages.
Tumblr media
Daisy and Nat had been by your side for as long a you could remember. When you were in elementary school, you remembered a brooding girl sitting at the end of the lunch table, arms crossed and eyebrows furrowed, with the angriest pout you’d ever seen. You walked over and plopped down with your tray.
“Hi.”
She looked up from her meal and to your smile and simply gave a blink of acknowledgment, face unchanging.
“Are you okay? Something wrong with your lunch?”
She shook her head and took a deep breath, sitting up to eat a tater tot.
“No. Something’s wrong with my shirt.”
You tilted your head to the side. “What about it? I think it’s beautiful. I love Daisies.”
She shrugged and continued to pick through her food. “Yeah, I guess they’re alright. But my mom forced me to wear this. I had a plain black shirt picked out and she gave me this. I don’t wanna wear daisies.”
You giggled and looked down at the plain black shirt on your body. “Trade?”
For the first time, you watched the corner of her lip reach a smile, your new friend who would soon earn the shirt flower as a nickname. That little grin was huge compared to the tight line her lip previously held. That was the start of a bunch of mini smirks and teamwork.
Tumblr media
Nat had been around since you were in diapers. Her parents had worked for your father’s organization their entire lives, so when they passed as she was in her teens, your family took her in.
She was always incredibly smart, her wit challenging you and Daisy, but the two of you would hit her right back. The timeline of her moving in with you, too, was a few years before the presidential gig started, but she rose through the ranks with you, through every single job, the two of you bringing Daisy on board who caught on quickly. Your grouping was nearly unrivaled. Nearly.
Tumblr media
Daisy and Nat physically stood by your sides as the three of you looked on to your father talking on a podium. Your best suits were pressed and tailored perfectly for the special occasion. It was his retirement party in your family’s backyard garden where he was noting the successes of the company under him, including the recent incident from which the two important clients had been saved.
The three of you lightly nudged each other’s arms in commendation for the quick act despite your lack of backup, a small smile on your face, a smirk on Nat’s, with Daisy looking as composed and stoic as ever. You father continued in his speech, noting the valiant effort that needs to be maintained in a generational business like this, one that should be rewarded and carried on for the generations to come. You stood straight, chin up with pride at your hard work and dedication finally paying off.
“I was a young pup, only in my early twenties when I took this business over from my father. He deemed me most fit for the job, so it is my pleasure to do the same, keeping this line of work led by my family. I’d like to name my replacement, someone who valiantly saved the president’s son and wife. Someone who the son has raved about for returning them home to the White House safely. My wonderful child…”
You were ready for the culmination of years being under his wing. He gestured his arm out to the side and you braced yourself for the good news, except the arm wasn’t outstretched towards you. It was directed towards the other side of the stage and everyone’s eyes followed. “Dylan.”
Dylan was jerkily shoved forward by one of his friends, having been zoned out for the entirety of your father’s speech, but at the sound of cheering and clapping, a smile grew on his face. He waved at the crowd, walking over to the podium to shake your father’s hand and give a word of his own.
Meanwhile, your face fell. It was dragged downward in defeat. You quickly pulled yourself together, though, at a squeeze to your arm. You couldn’t even tell which side it came from. Your body was going numb. Shifting to plant your feet and fighting the burn in your eyes, you looked straight forward, no longer at the podium, although you had no way to shut off your ears.
“Wow, wow. Thank you. This is such an honor. At eighteen years old, I will be the youngest to ever run this organization.”
It seemed like he’s was at least doing well and presenting a strong face. That was rare.
“Haha, I beat ya, gramps! Okay, let’s party!”
You outwardly cringed, but your legs were paralyzed as his friends let out a whooping cheer and the party erupted in confetti. It was getting caught in your hair as Nat and Daisy dragged you away and inside, up the stairs to your childhood bedroom, jostling you like a rag doll. You felt almost catatonic.
As soon as you flopped down on your bed, though, you turned over and screamed into your pillow before sitting up, realizing this act of melodrama was going to wrinkle your suit.
You sat up and sniffled, rubbing your eyes and taking a deep breath to give yourself just a moment to think. You looked between your best friends and started pointing.
“Daise, can you pack up anything you think I might need from here? Whatever I can’t live without.”
You then looked to the redhead who was peeking out the window, watching your father enter the outdoor entrance of his home office.
“Nat, can you gather some home essentials? Food, first aid, some of the hidden and spare weapons. Only the ones they won’t sense are missing, okay?”
She nodded. “Yeah. We better do it quick. Your pops just came in.”
You bit your lip and your nostrils flared in anger and thought, rubbing your hands over your face. “Okay. That’s fine, I need to talk to him anyway. That should give you enough time to grab everything. Then we’re heading back to the apartment to get some essentials.”
The three of you were roommates in the city, renting out a place Daisy’s distant uncle owned, which allowed you some freedoms, as well as independence from the possible tracing of your location on government records. Even under a security conglomerate, you could sense things were going downhill, so it was a good choice to move out and detach yourself. At this point, you were barely traceable. Only one thing tethered you here on a paper trail: the company.
You stormed out of your room and down the stairs to the hall that held your father’s office. You were furious. You had no patience left for formality or kindness, this was all rage. You kicked in the strong oak door, splintering the wooden frame, and were met with the view of your father and brother clinking whiskey glasses, an old celebratory reserve poured in them.
You stomped over to the filing cabinets where your file, thick as a novel, was stored. Next to it, you pulled out two more, no less impressive. Your dad, even though he possessed several methods for tech security, still kept employee information on paper in case he accidentally hired a mole. Everything was under lock and key and 24 hour surveillance.
You dug around in the left side drawer of his desk until you found the cigar lighter, hitting the edge of the folders until they caught and throwing them into his metal trash can. It was only then that he and your brother let words come out of their dropped jaws and awestruck faces.
“Tweety Bird, what’s the issue, kiddo? Didn’t wanna celebrate with your old man and little brother?”
You scoffed as you put your hands on your hips.
“Celebrate!? Celebrate what!? Being snubbed? Overlooked for something I’ve dedicated my life towards!?”
Your father’s bushy brows furrowed in confusion, your brother’s face mirroring it in a mini version. “What do you mean? You haven’t been snubbed. Dylan and I agree you’re meant to run teams and operations. You wouldn’t want to be in charge. Plus, it’s tradition that the first son takes over.”
You threw your hands up in exasperation. Smoke was filling the room, but partially getting swept out the cracked windows that pointed toward the back yard. “You didn’t think to ask me, the one keeping your business afloat, to run it!? No one knows it better than me, but it’s so ridiculous. Just because I’m an older sister like Aunt Kay, doesn’t mean I don’t wanna be in charge! She wanted to leave this life, but I don’t!”
You heard a chuckle rise behind you. “What, Dylan?”
He shrugged with a smug smile on his face. “Aunt Kay didn’t want to leave this life. She wanted the company, too. But Gramps gave it to dad. That’s why she fucked off to who knows where and started that bank vault company.”
You gasped in shock and looked to your father but he seemed unaffected. You turned to him now, disgusted with the sight of your little brother. “What!? Do you hear yourself right now!? Just because we aren’t men!? That’s insane!! I’m the one who saved the president’s family. Not Dylan, me! He was too busy sitting on his ass and picking his nose to be of any help. Maybe we would’ve seen the team coming to attack the venue sooner if he would’ve done his job!”
Your chest was heaving and your face was warm from the yelling. Your father still calmly continued. “Dylan returned the family safe and sound. You were nowhere to be seen. He deserves this step of responsibility, but I have no doubt you can guide him like an invisible hand.”
You shook your head, moving back towards the door between the leather couches of the sitting area, pacing on the Persian rug. “No, no. Absolutely not. I refuse to keep performing thankless service. You’ve made a mistake. I no longer want to work for you and I no longer want to be a part of this family. This whole thing is fucked. I’m out.”
Your father sighed, about to speak up. “Bird, we-“
He was cut off by the arm of your brother, though. “No, dad. If she wants to leave, I think she should. I don’t want anyone here questioning my leadership. The president’s son will back me on that. He’s upset the extraction ruined a designer suit and thinks that I’m the best fit, too. I can run this without her.”
Your dad gave a hmph of affirmation, which sent you over the edge. After all those years of service, both your father and the president’s son still didn’t credit your work. You couldn’t stand this anymore, especially not when Dylan was fabricating lies in his own head about the greatness you performed.
“You know what, Dyl? Yeah, let’s have it your way. You guys will never need to see me again. Good luck not running this thing into the ground.”
You turned on your heel and marched out the door. When you turned the corner, you saw both Nat and Daisy waiting for you, double fisting duffel bags. You motioned for both of them to head to Nat’s car, walking quickly, but they were more than capable of keeping up. You heard Daisy speak from over your left shoulder.
“Bird, where are we going?”
As you barged through the glass front door and put on your sunglasses, you took a breath in of the air that marked your new life, outside the stuffy patriarchy of what you thought would be your legacy.
“Somewhere far. And don’t ever call me that again.”

Bonus A/N: Bruh, could you imagine being betrayed by your own father like that? Also, we’ll be seeing more of Daisy as the reader for Jake’s storyline in the future.

AN ANGEL WEEPS
guardian angel!simon x reader word count: 5k tw: NSFW, MDNI, death, bits of gore, religious themes, violence, heavy angst summary: simon would destroy the heavens and earth in order to be with you. heavily requested oneshot from this drabble!
Tumblr media
Simon wasn’t partial to humans. You’d think with him being a guardian angel to many over the centuries, he would grow to like them. Really, it wasn’t that he disliked them, but more so couldn’t empathize with them like other angels could. Some were weak, some were selfish, some were burdening. All of them, though, were on borrowed time, and that was exactly where he came in.
There wasn’t ever a human life that Simon did not keep protected. All of his subordinates, as he called them, lived long enough to see their hair turn gray and their skin mold into wrinkles and age lines. Not once had a human died young under his watch, and he planned to keep it that way.
It seemed the gods held his professionalism to their advantage. Now that his previous subject had passed of old age, he was tasked with a new one. A more challenging one.
You, a high risk. Normally, people of your kind that had a doomed fate from birth were paired with angels who specialized in that. While Simon was practically one and the same with the others, he typically requested humans that wouldn’t be a pain in his ass.
You were different, though. Something about you compelled Simon to take on the task of being your guardian angel, and he was curious to find out what it was. You didn’t seem like you’d give him trouble at all. You were simply unfortunate in the hand of life, and he was determined to turn it in your favor.
On his first day of being your protector, he watched. Observed. He took the time to jot mental notes down of your routine. You weren’t a busy gal, that much he realized, but you were simple. He liked simple. It meant he wouldn’t have to chase you around like a loose pig escaping its pen.
The more he got to study you like a lab rat, the more he wondered what made you a high risk. You didn’t drink, nor did you do drugs. You didn’t spend the wee hours of the night partying. Hell, you didn’t even have a boyfriend to occupy your time. Even now, as he watched, you entered a bookstore, prancing around from shelf to shelf to read each book cover with keen interest, tucking your desired favorites under an arm.
Just from the first day alone, Simon came to think of you as soft and kind. You were the girl who helped the elderly cross the street, or the type that fed the stray cats in the alley, even if you used your last dollar to make it happen. You were a being with a heart of gold, and it was rare for Simon to see somebody so pure.
You were the type of person many took advantage of. He’d seen it plenty of times before – men and women of all kinds, using your big heart to get what they want, just to leave it shattered in pieces on the ground with no way of repairing it. Simon wouldn’t allow that to happen. He’d seen what he needed to see, and that was enough for him to become your permanent guard dog for the rest of your days, which he swore to himself would be bountiful.
There was one problem, though.
You could see him. He didn’t know how, he didn’t know why, but when his little journey of following you around the city became abundantly clear, you confronted him about it, no bark, no bite.
“Why are you following me?” you asked. Simon was fully expecting a tone of anger, a weak attempt at trying to be intimidating towards a brooding angel like him, but none of that came. In fact, despite your clear discomfort, you remained soft-spoken. Your voice was sweet as honey, smooth in the way it rolled off your tongue.
“Are you talkin’ to me?” Simon gruffed, eyes narrowing at you. You blinked at him dumbly, glancing around the bookstore before focusing back on him.
“Of course,” you confirmed in confusion.
He wasn’t sure what to do. This had never happened before, and it was wrong. Very, very wrong. Humans still partaking in the act of life weren’t able to see angels, let alone speak to them. It was against the very act of being angels. Silent protectors. Invisible.
Something was terribly off. Perhaps you were a fluke. Or perhaps you were far closer to death than he thought.
Simon was completely stumped. His very existence was the greatest kept secret in all of Earth’s lifespan. Not a single breathing soul knew of the actuality of angels. Sure, many believed in them – it wasn’t a secret in teachings, but that’s all it was. A belief. A strike of faith.
“Sir?” you called out. It successfully snapped him out of his spell-like hypnosis, realizing he was staring at you with a guise of puzzlement. He cleared his throat, standing a bit taller, eyes darting around the room.
“This isn’t how this is supposed to go,” he muttered to himself. You made a noise of perplexity.
“Pardon?” you questioned. Simon silently cursed (lord forgive him).
“This,” he repeated, gesturing between the two of you with a hand. “You’re not supposed to see me. Something must be truly wrong.”
Your expression morphed into lines of confusion and concern, eyes widening into fearful saucers. You looked scarcely similar to a lost puppy, one who had just been told bad dog. Simon felt a twinge of sympathy in your favor. How confusing it must be to have been followed around by a man who was sorrowfully unaware that you knew of his presence.
“Are you a ghost?” you asked, causing a crack of a smile to threaten on Simon’s lips.
“Somethin’ like that,” he mused. “Perhaps this might be easier if we talk somewhere privately.”
At first, you looked hesitant, and he didn’t blame you. He knew how weary humans were of strangers, after all, but Simon was no stranger – at least, he wouldn’t be in his eyes. He would know you the longer he silently protected you as your guardian, while you remained blissfully oblivious to his existence. It seemed that part wasn’t in the cards this time around.
Somehow, you agreed, following him out of the bookstore and on to the bustling streets, walking side by side with him. It was silent at first, Simon keeping his eyes trained forward, alert to any dangers nearby. It was in his blood to sniff out misfortunes from a mile away, and considering your state of high risk, you attracted them like flies.
“Suppose I’ll give it to you straight,” he began, garnering your attention almost immediately. Your eyes were pooled with dread, most likely expecting horrible news. Or wondering why you had followed a strange man with so much blinded trust. “Do you believe in angels?”
“Angels?” you gawked, the words unexpected. It was the last thing you imagined he’d say, and it took you for a complete whirlwind. “Why do you ask?”
“Do you?” he repeated. He turned his head to look at you, noting the gears turning in that brain of yours. It was subtle, but you were an easy read.
“Yes, I guess I do. There’s no proof of them not existing, so I can’t exactly say they’re not real, right?” you claimed, and the warmth in your tone made Simon smile.
He quite liked your character so far. Easygoing with incredible wit and enthrall. It was a breath of fresh air from some of the other people he’d been subjected to. There wasn’t a hint of malice in your aura, no storm clouds that hovered over you in the form of looming threat, no black smoke billowing around you in a polluted smother.
In fact, it was nothing short of bright. Hues of yellow emanating beaming rays. A burst of sunlight, down to the bone.
“Smart girl,” Simon hummed softly, returning his gaze forward as the two of you walked. “This is your first time talkin’ to one, I presume.”
For a moment, you were silent. He could feel your eyes studying the side of his face, desperately attempting to pry open his mind and see inside for yourself. He allowed you the complexity of wishful thinking.
“What do you mean by that?” you dared to ask, curiosity getting the better of yourself. You didn’t feel like the smart girl he claimed you to be at all. Matter of fact, you were perhaps a very stupid girl for following an unfamiliar man and listening to him speak of a higher power. You were even stupider for blossoming an interest.
It was a difficult conversation to have, one Simon wasn’t prepared for at all. He had to explain it in blunt terms, introducing himself as your guardian angel while you stared at him like a dead fish.
Yet somehow, despite receiving such complex information, you accepted it, giving him a smile and your name that he already had mapped in the back of his memory. You didn’t shy away from him. He didn’t understand. He knew humans were complicated, but he had never met one so trusting of his word.
Simon fully expected a breakdown, or a freak out. Perhaps even a fuck off with you going about your day. Earthlings didn’t know that angels existed, so to meet your very own, one so tall and brooding, intimidating and unapproachable with large, white wings that tucked into the comfort of his back, hidden, it was a damning thing. But you accepted, so easily, too.
It was strange. You were strange. Not in a cruel way like he had previously thought of humans, but in a warm way that left him confused. Perplexed. Such a sweet thing like you, so free of judgment and malice, only to end up with a terrible fate such as yours.. Now that was cruel.
Simon took a liking to you after your official meeting. He tried to deny it, reminding himself of his purpose, but it was hard not to form a friendship with you when you wouldn’t allow him otherwise. He stuck to you like glue, never letting you stray out of sight, waiting in the dark hours of the night for you to wake, watching silently while you’d read a book every night.
Where you went, he went. When you slept, he watched over you longingly. When you wept, he ached.
You became of utmost importance to him. You were his priority before, but now, it was set in stone that Simon would strive to give you the longest life, filled with nothing short of love and worship. When he formed this goal in mind, a second problem arose – saddened over the fact that it wouldn’t be him sharing it with you.
Tumblr media
“Simon?” you asked him one night. Book in your lap, long forgotten as you stared up at him with an innocent curiosity. You were a nosy one, something he found out rather quickly, but instead of being met with his own annoyance, he grew quite fond of your wonder. “Does everybody have a guardian angel?”
He never got tired of your questions. In fact, he encouraged them. Conversation with you came easy, whether it was in the bright rise of the morning, or the wee hours of midnight. Simon wasn’t much of a talker until you came around, but sharing endless moments when it was just the two of you conversing as people became his favorite routine.
Simon perked up to look at you, eyebrows furrowing at your question. “No. Not everybody,” he answered honestly. You tilted your head at him, curious.
“Then how come I have you?” you questioned.
Simon stared at you, mulling over your inquisition. A pang of guilt tightened his chest. He knew the truth, yet you didn’t. You were blissfully unaware of what was at stake, why the heavens decided to gift you with him as your protector. You didn’t know how weak your own lifeline was, how you risked slipping in the depths of death every ticking second of the day.
He knew what was waiting for you at the end of the line. When you’d reach it, though, was the question. And he wished he had the answer.
“You’re just a special case, dove,” he explained, trying his best to be comforting. The last thing he wanted was for you to worry, to find out the real reason why he was assigned to you. “Nothin’ to stress about. Some people just get them early.”
“Special case?” you repeated to yourself, finger pressing to your chin in thought, face pulling into confusion.
Simon remained silent, eyes shifting away from you to allow you the time to think. He knew you had a hyperactive mind, one that may have been the very thing to cause your future downfall, but he didn’t have the heart to stop it. Perhaps he was a selfish angel, for he loved hearing your voice, loved hearing the cluttered mess of your thoughts.
He was becoming dangerously devoted to you.
Angels and humans were not meant to form bonds. Simon was already being greedy by allowing it to happen rather than cutting it off from the root. He was your protector, your guardian, yet he excused the blossoming growth of your relationship as playing his role. The closer he got to you, the higher of a chance he had in saving you.
“Simon?” you called out once again, garnering his attention. He heard the hesitation in your own tone, as if you didn’t want to speak your mind. “I’m not going to die, am I?”
If Simon had a working heart, it would have shattered right there. If he had a living, human soul, it would’ve lost its glowing light, fading into aching darkness.
“No, dove,” he lied, flashing you an assuring smile. “M’just here to keep you safe, that’s all.”
You breathed a sigh of relief, and Simon felt that nauseating guilt crawl its way back under his skin. It pricked him with unease. He hated lying to you, providing empty promises that your life was under no threat.
He never worried about humans. He did as he was meant to do, and that was the extent of it. Yet with you, he worried that if he didn’t go above and beyond his normal procedures, your blood would be on his hands. He didn’t know if he could live with himself for the upcoming centuries if he failed to keep his promise.
A world where your laughter drifted away with the wind, rather than fill the air of his presence, was a world unworthy. A world without you would be unfair.
As Simon watched you return to your book, your curious mind put on temporary pause, he vowed to keep the Earth spinning with you on it, alive and well, safe and sound – just as he’s meant to do, without the baggage of complex emotions he shouldn’t be feeling in the first place.
Tumblr media
The longing for you never became easier. In fact, the progression of the harbored affection only grew tenfold. Iit was increasingly difficult to continue with his duty as your protector without coming to the admission.
Simon, an angel, was falling for a human he was meant to keep safe, keep alive. Two beings, divided by separate worlds, yet he resided in yours as if he belonged there. The more time he spent in your orbit, the more the desire blossomed.
He was a smart angel, one that had developed a keen sense for human emotion over the centuries spent silently observing them. Simon knew that his feelings weren’t unreciprocated, and it was what terrified him greatly. Fear and love, mixing in the absence of his own humanity, taking control of his motherboard and turning on autopilot.
He suppressed these feelings as much as he could. The hierarchs he reported to could have no hint of these befuddling emotions that were causing warmth to run through his bloodstream, as if he were slowly becoming human himself. He could not allow them, or himself, get in the way of his original mission.
That’s what he tried to do, at least.
It wasn’t until a normal night, pent up in your apartment with a warm mug of tea, a book nuzzled in your other hand and a blanket thrown across you to form a picture of pure sweetness, that his resolve began to crack.
You, innocent and curious you, always asking questions about him and never making the conversation selfishly about you, had requested to see his wings. The white, feathered beauties, tucked away in the dip of his shoulder blades, hidden and protected. You were considerate in the way you asked, giving him an opt out if he wasn’t comfortable. No human had ever seen his wings, let alone him, and he found denying you much more difficult than he thought it would be.
So he did as you asked – unfurled his wings, allowing the slow stretch to showcase them. The feathers ruffled with his movement, but they glowed radiantly with the picture-perfect white. Once they were untucked and on display, Simon realized how vulnerable all of this was. He was bearing himself to you with no obstacles standing in the way. He was showing the real part of himself, and you were watching in patient admiration, taking in every tuft of feather.
The wrongfulness of his action was smothered over with the look in your eyes. You gazed at him as if he were the most beautiful thing that God had created, setting aside your book and tea in order to step up to him fully. You were silent, taking him in, taking your time. When you carefully reached out a hand with an itch to feel the soft wings, he didn’t stop you. He should’ve, but he couldn’t.
“You’re wonderful,” you breathed, speaking of him so highly that it made the organ in his chest clench with an ache. Your touch was gentle, nimble fingers smoothing over the tuft feathers. The pads of your fingers were soft, and it caused him to relax, releasing a breath he was unaware of holding.
“Please do not say that to me,” he whispered, voice tight. He took a shaky breath in, shutting his eyes so he didn’t have to look into your own. “Please.”
Your eyes flickered across his face, taking in how reluctant he was. He was holding back, this you knew, and while you understood, a part of you wished he would open himself up. For months, you had walked a thin line, but it had quickly shifted into something more dangerous. Feelings, ones that matched his own.
“I’m sorry,” you apologized softly, beginning to take your hand off of his wing. Before you could remove it, his own hand caught yours, warm fingers wrapping around your smaller ones. He dared to open his eyes, nearly collapsing under the sparkling gaze you had so graciously reserved for him.
Slowly, he brought your hand up to his mouth, releasing a trembling breath before placing his lips to your soft skin. You watched silently, but made no move to pull away. “What are you doin’ to me, dove?” he asked, flustered. “This is… this is not right.”
His eyes bore into yours, sinking into your lovely irises, growing lost in them. There was an unfamiliar pounding in his chest, a foreign swarm of fluttering butterflies in his stomach, things only humans felt for one another. Angels were not meant to feel this way for a human, and humans were not supposed to know they existed.
Yet, he couldn’t deny the pure fondness he held towards you. How he sought you out in every given moment, how his body longed for you every morning and every night. His mind felt that this was right, that it was meant to be, while the voice in the back of his head told him this would end in misery.
With the way you were looking at him as if he had captured the sun and stars just for you, he found himself moving without thought. Lips pressing to yours, his hand gripping your own in a vice, as if scared you may crumble to ash if he let go. You reciprocated, and that was your mistake – there was no going back, and Simon wasn’t sure if he’d want to.
Humans performed things in the heat of the moment. It was something Simon had come to learn over his many years of study, yet him kissing you so suddenly had made him feel like one. It was terrifying, yet exhilarating all at once. To feel alive, to feel real.
He performed the ultimate act of sin with you. He was clumsy and awkward, inexperienced in the way he had you melting on his tongue, arching your back off of the sofa he took you on. Everything you offered would have him sent into an early grave if he were a living being. Ironic, considering it was you on that path, something he had forgotten about in between your shared intimacy.
Simon never knew how wonderful it felt to be connected with a mortal in a physical sense. Inside of you, engulfed in your warmth that clenched around him so deliciously, writhing beneath him like a fever was coursing through your veins. You looked lovely, even with a scorching warmth to your skin and a sheen of sweat lining your forehead.
His wings cocooned around you both as he lost himself in you, swallowing your beautiful whines that resembled heaven’s choir. Your hand caressed the soft feathers of his wings while the other held on to his shoulder, nails digging into his skin, grounding yourself.
Everything about this act was pure sin. It was a test of the devil himself, and he had strayed off of the path of forgiveness and had ventured to a land of lustful desire. Yet, he continued on the path, moving on his own free will further and further the more your body took him in. Your pleasure was his newfound call, his new purpose.
As your body succumbed to its own heated climax, he watched in awe at the way your mouth fell open, eyes lidded halfway, clouding over with a lovely husk of satisfaction. You were more beautiful than any heaven he had seen, and if Simon could die, he’d seek you as his afterlife.
He should’ve regretted it. It was in his blood to find purity, to hold value in the sentiment of God. But as he laid there, your body spent and exhausted, soft breaths leaving your lips, he felt no such thing. He wrapped his wings around you, smothering you in a security blanket, using the purest part of him to keep you sound.
Tumblr media
Simon should’ve known that the moment he fell in love with you, things would never go the way he wanted. He should’ve reminded himself of why he was your guardian in the first place, yet he had been nothing but selfish. He involved himself in you far too much, ignoring the angel on his right shoulder in order to listen to the devil on his left.
When he had been told you were a high risk, he never would’ve imagined that he would be the reason.
Everything happened far too quickly for Simon to comprehend. He wasn’t paying attention, he wasn’t protecting you. It seemed almost instant that your body had been struck in the middle of the street, the night sky making everything much foggier to the eye. It started out as such a simple night, with Simon following along behind you while you made a stop at a crosswalk to pass the street.
Distracted by the flowers displayed in the window of a pretty flower shop, he was consumed by thoughts of wanting to surprise you with them. Though he was a mere angel and could get you flowers from mother Earth herself, he knew humans had different sentiments, flowers being one of them. While pondering which flower you might prefer, the entire world had stopped in the midst.
Dreadful sounds of tires screeching, a loud explosion of crashing noises that made his ears prick, and you – silent. Not a single peep. It made his blood run cold, because you weren’t silent. You were curious, talkative, always letting it slip what was on your mind.
Simon stared at your unmoving body on the road, battered and bloodied, tainted with impurity. It was the complete opposite of what you had been. It was something you should’ve never been in the first place.
His legs moved before he could tell them to, and he found himself crumbling to the ground, taking hold of your body in his arms. Blood seeped from your head, painting your skin an ugly crimson. It was thick and vile. It didn’t belong. Not on you.
He became frantic. He didn’t have to listen to know your heart was no longer beating, because he just knew. You were the tattered version of yourself. A corpse, no longer able to smile at him, or ask your silly questions, or tell him you loved him. You were dead, just as your prophecy had predicted, and Simon had failed.
Weeping over your body did nothing to change fate. For the first time in all of Simon’s life span, he cried, ugly tears and snot, babbling nonsense from his mouth as he begged for you to wake up. He shook you in desperation, before holding you close to his chest and securing his wings around the two of you, unable to bear the thought that he had lost you.
Tumblr media
The heavens were in havoc. One of their beloved angels, falling for a mortal? Completing acts of sin? It was true blasphemy, a desecration to their name. The world as they knew it was falling apart, and it was all because Simon was selfish and unholy.
Tossing him out was done without question. Sent to the burning pits of hell, white feathers falling from his wings only to be replaced with raven, black and nightmarish. He was one of hell’s fallen angels, while you remained at the top, separated and alone. Simon was one of God’s failed creations, and no amount of redemption or prayer would have him fluttering back up to his pearly gates. Home was no more, though he was sure that at some point, heaven was forgotten and you had replaced that title before he lost you.
Being apart from you was torturous. It felt as if he was missing half of his body, half of his soul. Apart of different worlds once again, not meant to be. Unfated. Simon couldn’t allow that to happen.
Even if it took him years to return to his beloved, he would do it. Even if it meant trudging through the depths of hell in order to crawl to the top, he’d complete the journey without pause.
Heaven may be strong, but his love for you was stronger.
War broke out between the heavens and hell. Colliding forces, shedding blood of the pure, and venom of the demented. It was a battlefield that Simon had been the cause for, vision red with rage. He saw nothing but the fueling desire to be reunited with you, and it wouldn’t simmer until that occurred.
Far too much time passed since he had seen you. Years, even, though he wasn’t sure – everything felt like a lifetime without you by his side. He had lost count of how many sins he had committed, how many angels he had slain in order to become one step closer to seeking your soul. The lovely angel Simon had once been was murdered and buried, filled with angry vengeance that poked through the eyes of a devil.
He wondered if you would forgive him, if you would still love him. After all, he was a blackened version of himself, no longer the image of purity. He was a beast unleashed.
All of those worries melted away into a yearning ache when all war had ceased. You had been expecting him, it seems, waiting for him. Your soul was still as radiant as ever, yet he was now a dark void in comparison.
“Simon,” you greeted, and oh, how he missed your sweet melody. Your voice alone, saying his name, had put out the raging fire in his bones.
“Dove,” he responded back, breathless. His heart was in his throat as he waited for your reaction, to see how you felt about him. His wings no longer white, his soul no longer sacred.
Time had taken a pause as the two of you stared at one another from your place in heaven. He was back in the place he originated from, yet it felt cold and desolate. It was a grueling task to make it this far, and he prayed it wasn’t in vain.
“Your wings,” you commented, eyes fluttering down to take in the raven feathers. He sucked in a breath, prepared to hear your disappointment, but it never came. “They’re wonderful.”
It was the exact words you had used to describe him as an angel. Your love for him hadn’t changed, even though he did.
Simon smiled at you, full of light and warmth. You smiled back, and he was a done-for man. That smile was the reason for the heavens falling apart, yet it was still the most beautiful thing he’d come across. He never thought he’d see it again.
“I’ve come all this way for you, dove,” he murmured softly, taking a step forward. He reached out for your hand, holding it so tenderly in his. He lifted it, placing a sweet kiss to your knuckles. “Please, come back with me. Come home.”
To hell. To madness.
None of that mattered. Simon wouldn’t make the same mistake that he did when you were alive. This time, you would not be met with a foul end, and he would not live a life of regret.
You glanced down at your intertwined hands before looking back up at him, meeting his eyes. Your own were just as fond as before, lit up with the undying love that had never left.
“Take me home, Simon,” you assured, and the church bells sang.

BE KIND TO YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL.. OR NOT.
Tumblr media
note: don't expect me to write a full fic. this is just a short scenario 👯
Tumblr media
For as long as she could remember, Cinnabar had been a guardian angel, watching over countless souls throughout the ages. She'd seen it all—children with innocent dreams, elders with lives full of wisdom, lovers with stories both happy and tragic. She had been there through moments of triumph and despair, guiding, protecting, offering the solace that only an unseen presence could provide. Each life was a fleeting glimpse of the human experience, and she'd borne witness to more endings than she could count.
But this time…
Cinnabar's wings twitched, feathers ruffling as a flush crept up her neck, spreading across her cheeks. Her lips were pressed into a thin line as she desperately tried to calm the warmth pooling beneath her skin, but it was no use. Nothing in her celestial existence had prepared her for this—for someone like you.
Never in all her years had she encountered a human who could actually see her, let alone touch her. The idea seemed laughably impossible; guardian angels were meant to be invisible, intangible, felt but never seen. Yet here you were, standing right in front of her, your eyes locked with hers as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
And to make matters worse, you were so bold—too daring. Your fingers grazing the edge of her wings, the soft downy feathers, made her tremble under your touch. A shiver ran down her spine, something she hadn't felt in centuries.
Her breath caught in her throat, her heart racing in a way that felt strange and yet oddly exciting. Angels were meant to remain calm, composed, above earthly desires and whims. But there was nothing calm about the way her pulse quickened, or how her wings fluttered against the sheets beneath her, helplessly pinned on the bed.
"W-What do you think you're doing?" she stammered, her voice trembling with confusion. Her wide eyes searched yours, looking for some sign of explanation. But all she felt was breathless, caught up in a moment she'd never expected.

Guardian Angel
Chapter 1 : A Helping Hand
Tumblr media
Guardian Angel Masterlist
Summary: It took time, patience, and an intense personal as well as public effort for Wanda to be welcomed back into the Avengers after the Westview events. However, deep down, she didn't believe that she deserved to be accepted back. Billy and Tommy, somehow, managed to survive the destruction of the Hex. Now, Wanda's primary focus is rebuilding her life with her beloved sons. One Monday morning, when she went out for a simple coffee date with Natasha, she met you. You were the unexpected surprise that she didn't see coming, but maybe it's a positive kind of surprise.
Warnings: Mentions of injury
Word Count: 928
“Blonde Vanilla Latte!”
As you approached the counter to grab your steaming hot coffee, you couldn't help but feel the mundanity of your Monday morning routine. You adjusted your navy blue coat and pulled your beanie down over your ears, bracing yourself for the chilly air outside. Just as you were about to take your first sip, two young boys came barrelling towards you, completely out of control. Before you could react, they collided with you, sending you stumbling backward. Your right ankle twisted painfully, and you lost your balance and hit floor of the café with a thud.
"Oh man, we're sorry! Are you okay?" they exclaimed.
A young, redheaded woman rushes up behind them. "Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. Tommy, Billy, what have I said about running in public places? Let me help you." she rambled
As you look up, you catch a glimpse of her, and you can’t help but be captivated by her beauty. Her radiance shines through her big, emerald green eyes, and you feel lost in their depth. You're momentarily stunned, unable to take your eyes off her, until you notice her extending her delicate hand towards you, offering to help you get back on your feet.
“Thank you,” you finally said as you grabbed her hand and slowly rose.
With a sudden jolt of pain, you blurt out, "Ouch!" while losing your balance and falling back on your butt.
“Oh! You’re hurt. Please, let me call an ambulance.”
Embarrassed, you said, "Oh no, it's okay. I live just a few doors down. I can make it."
“Please, allow me to assist you in getting home. I insist.”
Oh, um, okay," you said hesitantly. "What about your kids?
They will be okay with my friend," she said, pointing towards another redhead with a French braid who was sitting at a nearby table. The friend wore a gray pullover sweater, black jeans, and combat boots. She gave a finger-wiggly wave and a smile, watching the whole situation unfold like an interested spectator.
"I'm Wanda," said the beautiful woman as she gently helped you up again.
“I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you.”
"Hey, boys, you two stay with Auntie Nat. I'll be back before you know it." You leaned on Wanda for support as you exited the bustling cafe, wincing with each step.
Wanda asked, "Where do you live?" Her red hair came alive in the gentle autumn breeze.
As you pointed to the right, you began limping down the sidewalk with Wanda by your side. You didn't like being the center of attention, so you averted your eyes as pedestrians looked your way. You both looked like you were running a slow three-legged race. Nevertheless, Wanda seemed perfectly comfortable helping you. She supported your right side perfectly with each painful step.
You felt relieved when you finally limped into the lobby of your building. As you stepped into the elevator, you couldn't help but notice how nice she smelled: a mixture of vanilla and orange blossom, endlessly sweet and wonderfully comforting. However, you were abruptly returned to reality when the elevator dinged on your floor.
As you both made your way down the hallway, you felt an uncomfortable tension building up inside you. With each step, you grew more aware of Wanda's presence by your side, and a part of you wished you could disappear. Eventually, you reached your apartment door, marked with a faded number 19. You gently removed your arm from Wanda's shoulder, feeling a twinge of pain in your leg as you shifted your weight. You reached into your pocket for your keys, and your hand closed around the cold metal. As you struggled to find the right key, you could feel Wanda's eyes on you, watching your every move. Finally, you found the key and inserted it into the lock, careful not to make any mistakes. You turned the key and pushed open the door, feeling a sense of relief wash over you.
As Wanda helped you to the couch, you expressed gratitude, "Thank you for your help, Wanda. I appreciate it."
“Are you kidding? It's the least I can do. I'm so sorry that my boys injured you," she said, hiding her face in her hands. "I've warned them many times about the dangers of running in public places. Is there anyone I can call for you? I feel awful leaving you here alone.”
“No, it's fine. I probably just twisted it,” you said as you carefully removed your shoe and sock, revealing deep purple bruises that had already spread across your ankle. “Or maybe not.”
“Let me get you some ice for that,” she said, biting her lower lip in concern.
Wanda walked to your fridge like she had been in your home before, returning moments later with a bag of ice and a towel. Sitting down next to you, you take in her elegant profile. Wanda placed the ice carefully on your ankle and gently wrapped it with a towel. The adrenaline started to wear off, and you grimaced when the ice came in contact with your bare skin. You can’t help but stare as she worked.
After Wanda deftly wrapped your ankle, she placed her gentle palms on the ice pack to ensure it was snugly in place. Remarkably, an unexpected feeling of tranquility enveloped you, and you felt the sharp pain in your ankle gradually fading. Strange, you thought.
"Thank you," you said in a gentle tone.
Wanda stood up and replied, "You're welcome. You should see a doctor and stay off that ankle for a few days at least. Alternate between ice and heat if you can. " Guilt was swimming in her eyes.
As Wanda approached the door, she couldn't help but feel guilty for leaving you all alone. "I should get back to the boys. Again, I'm so sorry," she whispered apologetically. Just as her hand touched the cool metal of the doorknob, she turned back to face you and flashed a smile that could have quickly thawed the ice wrapped around your ankle. "It was great meeting you, even under these unfortunate circumstances," she said with genuine warmth.
"It was great meeting you, too. I'm glad your sons introduced themselves," you said with a smile.
“Bye, y/n…”
“Bye, Wanda.”
As you watched her leave, you were bewildered and unsure of what had happened.
