......kinda wild peeking at the reddit and seeing folks go nuts over dipper ships lmao
#(even more wild to see folks genuinely into wen/dip at all let alone in 2025 ksahdksadha)#(tbh i get a bit annoyed at d/ipcifica cos once again folks treating romance as the most important thing everrrrrr#and constantly ignoring his friendships and his bond with mabel)#(plus seeing folks ignore paz's own interests and character just to make her 'dip's love interest woooooo mystery hunting future wife!!!')#(also i've got the controversial take of him still having feelings for wendy despite knowing full well she's not into him and trying to#get over it for weeks and by controversial its technically canon considering w2 lmaoooo#urgh i really want to see him being a better friend to her and getting to support her through her problems for once)#anyway i could see him and paz trying out dating but it strikes me as something that doesn't last that long#but them ending as good friends in the end anyway#growth and experience for the both of these super young teens or whatever#(yes i get kinda bitter whenever folks see every romance as 'they have to get together in the end 4ever!!!'#sometime even nice relationships dont work out and thats ok.)#anyway i would trade nw mystery or whatever the eps called for a peanut#it having the cardinal sin of having mabel's story be about fighting over another boy#they could've focused on her realising she doesn't need a summer romance more#(sock opera kinda baiting us with 'hey hey look we're no longer giving her boys of the week!!!' but nope :///)

Sanders Sides D&D 2
Ooh fresh take: Jan is virgeļæ½ļæ½ļæ½s patron and thatās why thereās beef
Also: Jan is some sort of fae related being
Jan: i need you to do something for me Virgil: no Janus: that's not how this works!! Virgil: watch me :P
Okay so I was thinking of Patton as a cleric cuz ooh healer however, Patton as a Druid makes me so happy
I want logan to have Rage
(Also that could tie nicely in an arc about Logan learning to accept feelings)
but barbarian logan is going to be a scholar again and is gonna be smort
bc hes logan. he cant be not smart
Oh I figured heād be the bbeg that eventually joins the party (hurt/comfort baybee!)(Remus)
he was the bbeg but then joined the party as a bardbarian or just a bard
plus, actual bard who accidentally casts vicious mockery instead of bardic inspiration
Side note: please include a scene where Remus attempts to seduce the dragon
also with this second au, i can start them at like level 5 so people can multiclass
Pat as cleric/druid
gasp logan as artificer/barbarian
janus sorcerer/rogue
because basically everything but alchemist would work well with barbarian, but alchemist feels very Logan
bc mad scientist being actually mad
alchemist logan making an experimental potion and going "here im not sure what this does but im sure its fine! someone drink it"
Remus does it voluntarily, but Logan usually tries to get Roman to drink it
Virgil will occasionally drink it when he's on his last legs and is just like.....100% done with the party
remus as a wild magic path barbarian and just fucking teleporting or doing something equally ridiculous whenever he rages
Oh my god Remus with rage would be a force to be reckoned with
You gotta describe the first time he goes into a rage really dramatically
obviously virgil is trying to "escape" his patron, Janus (really just do whatever he says to not do out of spite)
Eldritch knight roman
Feywild warlock virgil
hey so in the second d&d au, should roman and remus be actual full siblings but like remus went darkside and like romans just trying to get back at him for putting a dark stain on the family name
hey hey hey what about warforged Logan? (essentially a robot)(so like "i dont feel anything" becoming real)
okay hear me out. elf roman and elf base simic hybrid remus. so like maybe the reason remus went darkside was experimentation? so like. hes elf but special
FALLEN AASIMAR VIRGIL
virgil just transforming in the middle of a combat scenario and like his eyes turn into black pits and flightless skeletal wings appear on his back and like everyone near him has to make a charisma check and like he deals extra necrotic damage
Pat is the one human stuck in a band of misfits
so with it, roman would be a full elf, and remus would be an elf that has tentacles bc octopus
So robot logan
i meant literally he doesnt feel anything
like he has all the emotions, but he doesnt physically feel the need to like eat or sleep or stuff like that
he just.....he pretend he don't have the feelings.....but he do.....he feel so much and he hides it all in his littol mechanical heart <3
plus......if he warforged, then like.....AC huge
he stands in front of friends.....he protecc...."no, i don't have feelings, i am physically incapable of affection" but he do!! he do! he take hits for them because he do!! he care so much
Bro he spouts all this and then he uses a reaction to dive in front of someone and everyoneās just like oh
LIKE ROMAN STILL BEING MEAN TO LO BC HE THINKS HE DOESNT HAVE FEELINGS BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE A HEART BUT HE DOES
hey hey everyone needs to grow
and logan standing up for himself and other people stepping in and saying no stop thats not right
plus if canon wont give me roman facing the consequences of his actions towards Logan......
but also Roman learning how to properly handle his own emotions and how he interacts with others
logan who doesn't view himself as anything more than a machine to be useful to others
the party giving logan love and affection until he slowly learns his own worth as a person
Roman and Logan not getting along (maybe Roman has a Lore reason to distrust Warforged, maybe not) and slowly learning to trust each other
when Logan is feeling real down or having some issue, Roman actually comes through to help him, showing how far both characters have come
Okay yes but also can we please give Roman more confidence than canon? Like Iām sooooo sick of low self esteem being played for laughs or just being really really sad
this boy is going on a mission and will slap his brother upside the head and tell him to shut tf up remus youre not a monster just come back home and he will do it alone if need be
OKAY SO WHAT IF HE ORIGINALLY WENT ON THE QUEST JUST TO STOP REMUS ONCE AND FOR ALL BC ROMAN THOUGHT HE WAS A MONSTER, BUT ALONG THE WAY, AND AFTER LOGAN, HE CAME TO REALIZE THAT NO, JUST BECAUSE REMUS (AND LOGAN) ARE DIFFERENT, THEY ARENT MONSTERS, JUST DIFFERENT
AND LIKE IN THE FINAL PUSH TO MAKE REMUS JOIN BACK WITH HIS BROTHER, ROMAN IS PROJECTING HIS OWN FEELINGS ONTO REMUS AND EVERYONE IS LIKE WOW BRO YOU GOOD THERE, BUT ITS A BIG MOMENT FOR LOGAN, ROMAN, AND REMUS
im unsure as to how, but it happened when he was an older teen/young adult. a simic scientist either picked him (read: kidnapped), or remus volunteered (potentially to escape court life, unaware what exactly the experiment was going to do to him physically
bc also, remus and roman are royalty
so like. how best to get at the nobes/royalty/rich famous people than by turning their kid into a monster
wait, wait, wait, because i'm lowkey a sucker for this trope, but i'm not sure if it fits Remus: the experiments left him with some fairly significant physical pain/uncontrolled magical reactions. through some combo of trying to deal with that and trying find a cure for his pain, he keeps like....absolutely wrecking random towns on accident but also deliberately wrecking certain places looking for either a) vengeance on the guy(s) responsible or b) someone who can make the pain stop
SO LIKE. WILD MAGIC BARBARIAN DOING WEIRD SHIT TO HIM WHENEVER HE RAGES
AND LOGAN COULD MAYBE HELP WITH THE PAIN AND SHIT
BC ALCHEMY
Yknow, for simplification purposes, we could say the True Bbeg just gave Remus lycanthropy and Remus hasnāt managed to control it yet
lycanthropy but simic shit?
Mr. I-Don't-Have-Feelings sees the poor dude in pain and also Roman in emotional pain from seeing his brother in pain and is absolutely like "i must resolve this like right now, immediately" because he definitely doesn't hate seeing his friend suffering, or his friend's brother whom he's just met
he definitely doesn't relate at all to the idea of someone else shaping your body and absolutely does not sympathize with Remus's plight
i was thinking the grappling thing and either manta glide or the ability to breathe underwater for the simic stuff, but like he doesnt have control over the tentacles yet?
Manta glide seems like we could have fun battle scenes
he just jumps off a cliff to avoid mushy talk/dealing with his actions/roman
Roman: Remus just because you're a monster and though i wish i was an only child-- Remus, jumping off a cliff: byyeeeeee Patton: Roman, look what you did! Virgil: dammit jan what did you do? Janus: why do you think i had anything to do with that? im a fae, not a genie Logan, thinking: what an asshole. i wish i could do that
oh my god Logan always being tired mentally bc he cant sleep
Oh my gosh I love that. So Remus got kidnapped super young, (from royal family) they never found him, as a result Roman had to grow up super fast (side effect: lowkey inconsiderate and forgets to ask for others input). Meanwhile, Remus was experimented on by True Bbeg and came out with some trauma and super cool additives
yep! chronic pain and ptsd and all sorts of other shit!
so like, simic hybrids are usually created when they're adults. but what if the true bbeg decided to go younger to see what would happen, and thats why remus has chronic pain and stuff
he was still growing when his genes were spliced, so hes dealing with growth plates shifting and his body maturing and puberty and body changes and stuff
Pat is going to have a lighthearted story. Im saying that now. Hes the one without all the baggage
Sure, but his parents have to lowkey be the really kind people who are surprisingly always down for violence
everyone: multiple crises Pat: y'all need help Pat: love and affection in spades for his little band of misfits
Patton (which I think would be pretty simple, honestly he might just see danger and jump in and suddenly everyone in the party has Feelings)
Logan
Mhm. So how did he grow up? Was he just poof created? Wait
What if he was created by the king?
To make up for remuss disappearance
wait, wait....angst......he was created to fight (hence the barbarian stuff) but alchemy is his real passion
wait so like. a second son???
hes there to replace remus?
Yea! (But like in a sympathetic grief way) But that causes a bit of a complex in Roman and ergo Roman and Logan have a bit of a beef
okay so like. hes there to be a companion for roman, and like take remus' place, even though hes not actually in line for the throne?
LOGAN AS A KNIGHT
and just......the conflict of being created for a specific purpose (plus being, you know, robot and technically incapable of deviated from said purpose) vs the fact that he actually does have independent consciousness and like....wants to live life for himself
the parents made Logan a barbarian in hopes that him and Roman would be safe
okay. so logan was created by the king with the sole purpose to take remus' place as romans brother/companion, and to be his like guard? protector? and fight, but logan wants to be an alchemist and study shit
wait, wait, wait.....thinks about Asimov's Laws
he.....his first operative is protect (specifically protect Roman)
oh man. so hes literally just a shield
his second level operative is just like.....care for Roman's emotional well-being, but he doesn't really know emotions because he was kinda just spawned and nobody told him how
and he just....kind of....lets Roman treat him like garbage and take all his grief out on him because he's staunchly in denial of both having feelings or knowing how they work
Anyway Yea so Logan created by royal family in place of Remus which created angst between the two ābrothersā and identity issues in Logan. Their arcs are learning how to healthily process emotions plus Roman apology and Logan commits to alchemy
So big question: why did virge make a deal?
Tricked
he gave janus his name
and instead of janus like killing him or whatever the fae do to people who break the rules of dealing with the fae, jan was like. hey. i'll give you magic, but do what i say
Janus is lawful neutral, but leans towards being selfish
hes self serving, but he has a strong set of morals and rules he follows
Tho I want to Virgil to also not be pushover so letās say loophole happened and Jan has to stay with virge (hence why Jan is a part of the party)
okay so a couple of the rules are dont give a fae your true name and don't try to figure out their true name
So
what if virgil accidentally gave up part of his true name, and got stuck in the deal, but then figured out janus' true name
so in the same vein that janus had control over virgil, virgil now has more control over janus
he still gets his magic from janus, so he cant break free completely, but virgil has more freedom and can occasionally tell janus what to do or when to shove it
there should a running gag where virge can explain how he learned Janās true name but Jan can make something loudly censor him every time
(he learned his name bc once he heard janus practicing his evil genius voice and talking to himself in the mirror and janus said his true name)
so maybe janus sent virgil on the quest to protect a town or stop something related to remus, but virgil dragged him along
he might just be trying to protect a town thats close to a ley line, or something fae-related, and they just happen upon the whole thing
janus is selfish. but lawful vs chaotic is where he comes through, in morals vs doing whatever. janus has a strong set of loyalties to the fae, and to himself
so like....Remus is just too close to Jan's stuff and he wants to take him down
Virgil is just like....exhausted and said "fine, but if i gotta do this, you're coming, too"
or at least figure out a way to protect his place, even if it doesnt mean fully taking out remus. just moving him would work for jan
Janus: virgilllllllllll hes going to mess up my magic storage locker Virgil: Jan, its empty Janus: but its mine
Yea. Remus attacks a city away from the fae: Jan: Yknow Iām gonna sit this one out Virge: oh no you donāt, get up
Or
Janus vs Janice
so his real name is Janus, but Virgil calls him Janice
Virgil: This is Janice Janice: with a āU-Sā Virgil: mhm, sure Jan
I'm a big fan of just like any of the old theory name being various aliases for Jan
Damien, Dante, Ethan, Declan, etc, etc

Get to know My OC-Suzie Q
Get to know my character
Doing this for My OC Suzanna, of The Walking Dead.Ā
01. What does your characterās name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded? I picked Suzanna (spelled with a z because I thought it looked cool) because I liked that Negan would call her Suzie Q.Ā
02. What is one of your characterās biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness? Sex lbr,Sue isnāt above being seduced,or doing the seducing either. But only around Merle,Negan or The Governor, who can easily get her to do what they want and they know this.Ā
03. Something they like about themselves? Her Strength and resilience.Ā
04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)Ā Ā Ā Iāll start with her first boyfriend Merle Dixon, who she had been with since before the turn.Ā
Mentally: Would have to be Merleās humor (crude or not),how he flirts (with her anyway),his cockiness,How protective he is and how unpredictable.Ā
Physically: I mean Merle may not be everyoneās cup of tea (or bottle of whisky) but with those baby blue eyes, that mischievousĀ grin, those arms and that swagger,he sure is Sueās. Oh did I forget to mention she has an older man kink? ;)Ā
Next would be Suzannaās other lover, who she met in Woodbury,of course I mean Philip Blake aka The Governor.
Ā Mentally: Suzanna was attracted to his intelligence, his quiet confidence, leadership qualitiesĀ and that mysterious aura he seemed to have around him.Ā
Physically: That smile, those eyes, his body isnāt half bad either, but itās his charm and darkness that really attracts her.Ā
Now onto her current lover Negan, leader of The Saviors. How she met him is a tad more complicated...
Mentally: Suzie loves his confidence, humor, and leadership skills,as well as his growth as a person. To her Negan is almost like Merle and Philip rolled into one.
Physically: I mean Negan is hot, anyone can see that! Especially when he first showed up,those Daddy good looks coupled with that swagger and dangerous smirk. Yeah Suzie definitelyĀ fell for him, even when she tried not too.Ā Ā
05. Are they sexually confident or more of the shy type? Definitely Confident. Though she didnāt have much experience until she met Merle.
06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying? lol itās the zombie apocalypse, what hobbies? Sueās men are pretty open to whatever she likes, especially Negan since she met him after the turn where pretty much anything goes.Ā
07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)? No though she tends to steal some of Neganās phrases likeĀ āEasy PeasyāĀ
08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?Ā Um the fact that she has no self control lol maybe because of the fact that she grew up in a religious household. Her weakness for the bad boys,or worse.Ā
09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday? NOT Summer or Winter since theyāve almost died during both. Maybe Autumn or Spring. Holiday, whatās that? They donāt even know what YEAR it is now let alone day.Ā
10. Is your character more feminine or masculine? A mixture of both.
11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage? Well her bloodlust kinda kicked in after being with Negan, besides that probably being pushed by one of Neganās Wives and having her loyalty questioned.Ā
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up? Her Survival instincts & fighting skills, give those up and she might as well be Walker food.
13. What are your characterās sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker? Sheās a light sleeper anymore and has a hard time sleeping on her own.Ā
14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommates? Suzie was adopted by Hershal as a young Teen, after the zombie apocalypse happened she got separated from her family and traveled with The Dixonās where they found a camp, she got separated after reuniting with her family, where she met Michonne, they traveled together until Woodbury where she found Merle again. After that whole thing with The Governor and Rickās group,Sue went into hiding, until she found out she was pregnant and went to find Rick,Daryl and the rest. They traveled together and finally settled in Alexandria, until The Saviors came and after much bloodshed and fighting,Sue joined them, becoming Neganās wife.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this personās name makes them tremble with anger or fear.Ā Not really, though her and Philip did not end on good terms and she really cannot stand Simon.Ā
16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like? lol Definitely more of The Athletic type now.Ā She was super girly when Merle first met her.Ā
17. Does your character have dreams of getting married and/or having children? Technically she is married to Negan and she has two children.Ā
18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode? She really doesnāt care as long as her family is with her.
19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily? She tended to avoid them as a Teen, letting her BFF take the lead, but now yeah she can be pretty hot headed and the only time she caves in is when itās one of her men.Ā
20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures? Dogs all the way.
21. What is one of your characterās biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear? Losing her children, like she lost her family and Merle.
22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?Ā Other then her hair changing from Blonde to Brown constantly,no.
23. What is your character like when it comes to school? What subjects are they good/bad at? Do they get in trouble a lot or are well behaved? Sue didnāt really like school but her parents were strict so she had to maintain straight Aās.
24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like? Personality wise? Since sheās currently with Negan,Iāll just describe him. Iād say to the outside world heās Smart,A leader,Dangerous, unpredictable, cocky and self assured. To Suzie (and later on when he loses everything) he still is all those things, especially when they first meet, but heās more open with her, serious and has his morals,he won't hurt or kill children or those that he feels donāt deserve it and he doesnāt rape either,Negan also has deep rooted pain from losing his wife Lucille.Ā
25. Is there something traumatic from your characterās past that greatly affects them even to this day?Ā I would say losing Merle,Her Father and a sister in Beth still effects her a bit, Also almost dying at the hands of her former lover (Who also killed her Father and Merle)Ā
26. What is their lover like sexually? How do they feel about their loverās quirks, needs, etc? I made A-Z NSFW Headcanons for The Governor and Merle already,I might make one for Negan as well, but their are already really good ones of him out there!Ā
27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it? Well there really isnāt any law anymore but before the turn it would probably be for doing something stupid with Merle like underage drinking.
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for? lol idk maybe acting.
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one? Almost sacrificed her life.
30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like? Not much in the way of tv now,but before she liked watching Zombie and B Horror movies, also going out to parties, and listening to her sister Beth sing, watching Wrestling with Daryl and his GF,her BFF,Carol Lynn, dressing up to go out with Merle, she still likes Decorating,Neganās pretty much let her decorate there room however she likes.
31. Would your character be the kind capable of killing? Would they enjoy killing or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what? Yes she has, mainly Zombies but she has killed people before out of necessityĀ and protection.Ā
32. If your characterās lover offered to take them out on a dream date, what would they want to do?Ā As long as sheās with them she doesnāt really care. Her first date with Merle was at a restaurant/Bar,then they went dancing at a club and then back to his place...With The Governor it was sharing drinks out in the garden, though if he had a choice Philip would have taken her out to a nice restaurant. Suzie didnāt really have a conventional first date with Negan but they have their quiet nights alone, candle lit dinners, kinky sex ;) Negan also spoils her with presents every time they go out.
33. If your character wanted to be alone, where would they go? Her Room...lol seriously though, what alone time? Though sometimes her and the other wives hang out in Eugeneās room, playing video games and drinking if they need an escape.
34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc) Breakfast Foods mainly.
35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go? Not much anymore, though she is afraid of leaving her kids behind.
36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life? No
37. What are some of your characterās pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them? Being hit on,especially when sheās taken. Her men flirting with someone else.
38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc? As long as itās not an extreme weather, she really doesnāt care.
39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct? Well as Negan said when they first metĀ āYou are such a badass!ā and heās not wrong. Others may think sheās easily manipulated and maybe she is,at first.
40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldnāt want known by others? Not really, she did try and hide her kinkier side with The Governor but Negan pretty much has done away with being ashamed of anything and told her they donāt need to hide that in The Sanctuary.Ā
41. Does your characterās family affect your character in any way? They used to.
42. Is there anything in your characterās past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?Ā Sometimes she regrets meeting The Governor or siding with Negan over Alexandria but Suzie wouldnāt really change it.
43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self? I think different people see differentĀ aspects of her personality and vice versa.
44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character? Her Children or Negan dying.
45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve? A bit of both.
46. What is some random affectionate thing that your character always does to their lover? With Merle,Sue always sat on his lap if he was sitting on a chair or recliner. She does that with Negan too, with The Governor she always kissed his bad eye,if he was having a bad day, just to show him that she still loved him no matter what he looked like..
47. Is your character outgoing? Would they be the leader of the friend group, or the quiet one that gets dragged along? Sue used to be shyer but now sheās definitely more outgoing and a leader.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your characterās jealousy? Or does your character not get envious? Again her men flirting with someone else, especially Merle. Negan favoriting another wife over her.Ā
49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your characterās mood?Ā She used to have nightmares about finding Merle as a Zombie or of The Governor killing her but they have since dissipated.Ā
50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say? With Merle it was after their first time and Merle said it first,he was super nervous about it and Sue had to reassure him that she loved him too.
With Philip it was to reassure him that she wasnāt going anywhere, after he lost his eye and turned dark.Ā
With Negan it was during a particularly rare moment of confindment after he told her about Lucille,he didnāt say it back until a few months later when he was absolutely sure, and when he knew she wouldnāt leave him.

musicians that get constant stream on myĀ Spotify
doing this causeĀ I'm actually so bored. this is going to be a long post
5 Seconds of Summer (Australian)
Iāve loved these guys since their first album dropped and seeing them grow into these beautiful young men they are now fills my heart with so much love and pride.Ā
Year I started listening - 2014
First song I listened to - She Looks So Perfect
First 2 albums have pop-punk vibes. 2nd album gets quite personal and has helped me through some shit. 3rd album is different but cool. Very vibey alt-pop stuff. EPs are very underrated.Ā
All Time Low (American)
Whipped from the start. Probably the most unproblematic artist out there. Just a couple of boys who want to play their music and see their fans. Pureā¢ļø. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Dear Maria, Count Me In
All albums up to Donāt Panic are very pop-punk. Future Hearts is pop-punk but there was this idk growth thing and it was just somewhat different to its predecessors. Kind of the record where they grew out of theĀ āwhiny pop-punk sk8er boisā and into more alt-rock. Last Young Renegade was very different. Some pop-punk tracks some alt-rock some completely different. Loved it nonetheless. New songs scream Dirty Work and Iām living for it. Dirty Work is also extremely underrated and everyone should listen to it.Ā
Boy Hero (American)
A bit like the love child of Sleeping With Sirens and Panic! At The Disco. Idk how to describe it but itās hell good.Ā
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - How FarĀ I'll Go (Cover). Rebel Flesh (Original song)
These guys have a whole bunch of covers. Self titled is pretty good. Also they like anime and they do twitch streams. Lead singer lowkey sounds like Brendon Urie. Got a powerful voice.Ā
Bring Me The Horizon (UK)
Big British metal core band
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Can You Feel My Heart
First album was deathcore then went to metalcore and got less heavy over time. Lots of peopleĀ didnāt like the last album but I liked it. It was different but good different. Liked how they decided to play with new sounds. Also makes it easier to cover their songs.Ā
Counterfeit (UK)
British rock band. Also surprise remember the guy who played Jace in the Mortal Instruments movie yeah well heās the lead singer.Ā
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Lost Everything
Got a some EPs and the album is great. Should not be slept on.Ā
Ed Sheeran (UK)
Ok everyone should know him or youāve been living under a rock.Ā
Year I started listening - 2011
First song I listened to - Give Me Love
First album was straight up acoustic singer-songwriter stuff. Cute and stuff. Next 2 albums experimented with sound and it was great. Thereās at least 1 song on each album that will make you cry. Actually went to his concert for the divide tour and it was great. Very chill.Ā
The Faim (Australian)
Alt-rock with some pop-punk influences in there. Fairly new band and went under the name of Small Town Heroes before the name change. Sounds a bit like Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low. Ā
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Midland Line
The EP Summer Is A Curse is out now and boy it is good. Just waiting for the album to be released. They wrote some tracks with Ashton Irwin, Mark Hoppus, Pete Wentz, Josh Dun and John Feldmann and Zack Cervini produced it. I have very high hopes for the album. Entire band has this amazing stage energy which is absolutely mesmerising to watch.Ā
Fall Out Boy (American)
Once again if you haveāt heard of them youāve been living under a rock.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Immortals (bless Big Hero 6)
Extremely pop-punk before the hiatus. Went into some cool different stuff after hiatus. Mania was very different than their previous albums and I actually didnāt like it too much at first but I gave it a few more listens and I loved it.Ā
Gang of Youths (Australian)
An Australian indie band. Different to what I usually listen to. Very chill.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows
Latest albums is amazing. All the albums have a mix of bops and sad songs so you never know what youāre going to be hit with. Great lyrics throughout. Talks about real life issues in a number of the songs, some personal to the bandās life.
Green Day (American)
You have been living under a rock if you havenāt heard of these guys.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Wake Me Up When September Ends
Before American Idiot was like underground punk rock songs. After American Idiot got some pop influenced melodies which got them into more mainstream rock. Bops, anger, sadness and overall feelings throughout. Broadway Musical version is extremely slept on and I saw the production and it is a masterpiece. Left me kind of breathless at the end.
Harry Styles (UK)
Living under a rock if you donāt know who this wonderful man is
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Sign Of The Times
Super different from his 1D career. Has some old classic rock influences. Bops and sad songs throughout. Powerful voice and has an amazing stage presence. Media portrays him so badly when heās actually such a wonderful human being.
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME (American)
Ex Panic! member and ex Falling In Reverse member come together to make some cool different music. 2 beans chilling in a band together.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Choke
Music is kind of weird but cool. Bops throughout and should really release more music. Label company really needs to hurry up with whatever theyāre doing cause the albumās finished but they havenāt released it.
Mayday Parade (American)
This band literally writes the saddest music known to humankind. Also unproblematic and everyone loves them. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Miserable At Best
First 3 albums are very pop-punk. Next 2 go into more alt-rock and pop-rock. Last album are a mix of both. It sounds pop-punk but still maintains that level of growth the band has gone through since the start of their career. Be prepared with tissues cause this band will make you cry.Ā
Mike Shinoda (American)
The rapper dude from Linkin Park. Literally the only rap artist I listen to.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Crossing A Line
Latest album is super personal but a masterpiece. Raps are amazing and vocals are on point.Ā
My Chemical Romance (American)
Should this even be on my list cause theyāre not a band, theyāre an idea
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Welcome To The Black Parade
1st album was post-hardcore and somewhat depressing. Albums got less heavier over the years. Each album also has a different theme so thereās days where I feel like I need to listen to Danger Days and other days where I need to listen to The Black Parade. Also my music teacher likes them which really surprised me since heās an old guy that likes to listen to jazz.
One Direction (UK)
Was a 1D fangirl and still is a 1D fangirl
Year I started listening - 2011
First song I listened to - What Makes You Beautiful
All of the albums are absolutely amazing. Got less pop over time. Lots of bops with some sadness thrown in which makes my heart hurt. Not afraid to bop to them in public.
Palaye Royale (Canadian)
Actually found them when CrankThatFrank did a video with them. Still waiting for the kazoo kid to perform with Satanās Favourite Boy Band. Just 3 brothers who want to play some music. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Mr. Doctor Man
Boom Boom Room Side A is a quality album and Iām so hyped for Boom Boom Room Side B. Rock band that likes fashion and makeup. EPs have solid songs in them.Ā
Panic! At The Disco (American)

Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Each album has a different vibe to it so it depends on what you feel like that day on what you listen to. Didn't really like Pray For The Wicked but gave it a few more listens and I love it.Ā
Pierce The Veil (Mexican-American)
Post-hardcore band of Sexicans based in America.Ā
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - King For A Day ft. Kellin Quinn
Got less heavy over each album. Collide With The Sky is probably my favourite album. Currently writing album 5 which I am extremely excited for. Vic Fuentesā voice is quite high and but you get used to it. Screams are excellent.Ā
PVMNTS (American)
Pronounced as pavements but they decided to not have vowels. Also remember Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf well yeah heās the lead singer in the band. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Jumping Stairsets
Has a lot of early 2000s pop-punk influences. Sounds like Blink-182. Very excited for some more music from them. These guys did a UK tour with The Faim. Released an EP recently.
Shawn Mendes (Canadian)
Living under a rock if you havenāt heard of this sweet boy.Ā
Year I started listening - 2015
First song I listened to - Stitches
Newest album is very real and super chill. Got some new different sounds in it. First 2 albums are heavy on the singer songwriter genre. Amazing writing and his voice has a somewhat raspy tinge and extremely powerful at the same time.
Sleeping With Sirens (American)
Yes this is the band where the lead singer sounds like a girl.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - If You Canāt Hang
Newest album is quite different to their past stuff but I really like it. Explored some issues in the songs which they havenāt previously done. Overall either angry or soft.Ā
Story Untold (Canadian)Ā
Pop-punk band. Lead singer (Janick Thibault) used to post a lot of covers on YouTube. Went under the name of Amasic before. Lead singer low-key sounds like Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. Also kind of looks like Alex Gaskarth and Awsten Knight. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - History
2 albums out currently. 1st album was extremely pop-punk. 2nd album explored some different sounds but still pop-punk. Also signed to Hopeless Records.Ā
A Summer High (American)
Found them through CrankThatFrank when he did a reaction vid to songs Iāve never heard before. On the last Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Pretty Little Liar
Think fetus 5SOS and thatās basically their sound. Basically the kids who never left their pop-punk sk8er boi phase. Has quite a few covers and needs to tour with 5SOS. All 3 of them can sing and they sing like angels.Ā
SWMRS (American)
Yes this is the band that has Billie Joe Armstrongās kid in it. Also itās pronounced Swimmers. Just they didnāt like vowels. Originally named Emilyās Army but they changed the name. Found these guys through a reaction to songs Iāve never heard before from CrankThatFrankĀ

Living under a rock if you havenāt heard of them. Canāt even begin to describe the genre cause theyāre just that different.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Ride
Bops mixed with deep lyrics and sadness. Raps are amazing. Poetic writing. 2 talented beans who deserve so much. New music is heavier and it will go so hard live I cannot wait.Ā
The Vamps (UK)
I had a phase with this band and their first 2 albums get heavy repeat.Ā
Year I started listening - 2014
First song I listened to - Somebody To You
First 2 albums are absolute bops. Mixed feelings from their 3rd album. Vocals are great.
Waterparks (American)
Metaphors. Metaphors everywhere. Godās Favourite Boy Band. On the final Warped Tour.Ā
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Iām A Natural Blue
The EPs are great also angry and a lil bit of screaming. This band are a blessing sent from heaven and are pure boys. Follow Awsten on Twitter for the best quality content. Don't expect anything from Otto on social media he never uses it. Double Dare is cute but also slightly angry. Entertainment is full of anger and angst and sadness and itās beautiful. Excellent songwriting.Ā
With Confidence (Australian)
Pop-punk. Very pop-punk. Jayden Seeley has a beautiful voice. On the last Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Voldemort
First album is a poetic masterpiece. Some bops and some sadness (looking at you Long Night). Excellent songwriting throughout. Love and Loathing is probably one of the best albums of 2018.
Lol thatās it. Will probably update everytime I get into another band.

CanvasWatches: Stranger Things
I am super late to the Stranger Thingsā¦ thing, and it took the premier of the second season and an unexpected stretch of free time to finally sit down and watch it. Even then, it took me a couple extra weeks.
Iāve been a critic of Netflixās binge-focused release format. Not because I donāt enjoy a good binge watch from time to time, but because I like the freedom to choose when I take a break. When bingeing a show formatted for segmented release, each episode tends to be written in such a way as to let the audience comfortably wait a week, either because the narrative is one and done, or by carefully pacing the series to allow it to hold up with a time gap between episodes.
Also, everyone was raving about Stranger Things, which induced some hype poisoning, and I was born after the 80s died, so I donāt really have any nostalgia for the era. Besides Back to the Future and Ghostbusters, I never really watched much 80s media.
Plus everyone was so excited by how the show featured D&D. There are very few D&D-centered episodes that I like, as such depictions always fall short of my expectations.[1]
Besides one groan worthy aspect in season 2[2], I was actually pleasantly surprised by how the show handled the subject: by making it a casual part of the kidsā lives. Season One opens with a game, and closes with a game, and itās sometimes used to color dialogue, but itās never in focus, which is good. Hobbies should color characters, not define them.
The actual plot of season 1 was well written, and uses the only plausible excuse for characters not telling each other vital information: by segmenting the plot between three groups that have no reason to interact until the plot threads run together.
Sure, Chief Hopper maybe shouldāve been keeping Joyce appraised a little more often, but he was also busy, so I can give that a pass.
Oddly, beside Eleven, I didnāt actually care about the Kidsā plotline. Theyāre well cast, donāt get me wrong, but the argument over what to do once El enters their lives just runs in circles until the other two plotlines convene, and I just wasnāt particularly invested in them.
And the teens are likewise dull until Nancy and Jon start proactively hunting the eldritch horror. And even then, itās plagued by gross High School Romance drama. I donāt care who Nancy starts dating, I want to know whatās up with the supernatural weirdness and the effects that has on people.
Which, of course, leaves Hopper and Joyce to be the ones to pull me through. Also Elevenās flashbacks. You know, the parts showcasing and developing the things that are strange.
The first season is, mercifully, a rare example of a well-executed secrets plot. The mysteryās set off by Willās disappearance, a strong inciting incident that gets three different casts going down three different plotlines until convening at the end.
Because of the nature of who the characters are and the methods they use to accomplish their goals, theyāre kept separate not because of tedious secrets kept to āprotectā others, but because they just donāt have any reason to interact.
Hopper and Joyceās efforts to find Will lead to the Government Conspiracy, and they are unaware of Elevenās existence for most of it. Eleven is (rightfully) afraid of the Energy Research place, and doesnāt trust adults because of it, making it reasonable the kids wouldnāt know. The teens (once they get past the dumb romance drama) are trying to find Barb, who no one else cares is missing.
The moment the three groups learn theyāve been pursuing different sides of the same puzzle, they work together and share information without fuss. Then they split again when their goals lead in different directions. Hopper and Joyce donāt want to put the kids in danger when they go to confront the big bad; the kids continue to protect Eleven; the teens seek revenge on the demogorgon.
And all three contribute to the resolution.
Then the second season opens, and Hopper, who I loved for being a reasonable protagonist, betrays my trust. Elevenās hurting being separated from her friends and her friends are hurting not knowing her fate.
A problem easily solved if Hopper just told Mike āHey, Elevenās with me, sheās safe, but Iām keeping her out of the public eye. Iāll try to arrange some visits, but they canāt be frequent. Hereās a morse code info card, and a frequency. Donāt keep each other up too late, and donāt tell anyone who hasnāt already met her.ā
There, Elevenās got some social stimulation, no oneās pining, and everyone knows where things stand.
They all worked together for season oneās finale. Hopperās actions are inexcusable.
Hopper went from my favorite character to one of the most annoying.
As a whole, the first season felt much more tightly written than the second. The first balanced the eldritch horror and psychic powers sufficiently well.
The second advanced and built upon the Upside Down in exciting ways, including a giant central intelligence to the whole place. Confirmation that, instead of just a decaying world to mirror our own, the entire place is a single malevolent entity, represented by an enormous, alien being. I love what is being done with the Upside Down.
Then thereās āThe Lost Sisterā. Which isā¦ the episode literally doesnāt fit. Eleven leaves, seeking her mother. Okay, good development. This leads to some new exposition of what Elevenās young life was like. Thatās good! Slowly exploring that works for the show! Introducing another test subject in the form of ā8ā. Logical, since Eleven is, well, number Eleven.
Elle/Jane goes looking for this mystery girl. Thatās where the show goes off the rails. Not that Eleven searching for others like her isnāt a fair plotline, but it literally takes the show away from Hawkins and all the endearing characters weāve met.
Itās a filler episode, and it turns Eleven from āOddity with connection to the Eldritchā to āBlossoming superheroā whichā¦ Stranger Things wasnāt a superhero show. Itās a mystery and thriller. Itās an episode so divorced from the other eight episodes, you can literally skip it and lose nothing.
Kaliās gang has no redeeming features. Theyāre criminals and murderers, plain and simple. Elle finds them, establishes a connection with Kali, and then itās just a āGood Character is lead down a dark path before leavingā plot. It adds nothing.
And Kali has a different power set from Eleven, deepening the Superhero aspect where each mutant has a different power. If, instead, Kali had the same (but weaker) Psionic powers I might take her inclusion better.
But, worse still, none of it has anything to do with the rest of the plot, even when it wouldāve been easy to integrate, though that probably would require more time.
Kaliās gang, as mentioned, are bad people. Send them rocking into Hawkins in search of a place to lie low while the heat dies off, maybe induct Billy Hargroveā¦ maybe they could find a space.
Actually, no, nevermind. Theyād still be a distraction. Itās a series that works on the strength of itās dynamic characters. Suddenly hamfisting in Kali and company would strain that.
In fact, Iām not sure searching out numbers 1 through 10 (maybe 12) will ever work, because that would imply a road trip season, which would suck because weād see less Hawkins in favor of Scooby-Dooāing up the series.
So keep the fates of the previous ten test subjects a mystery. They were experiments that failed. And considering how much hullabaloo Elevenās escape caused in the first season, Eight getting away without any remark until now is ridiculous.
Itā¦ just doesnāt work. Itās too Kyle XY.
So, letās take some metaphorical scissors, snip after episode 206, and before 208, remove the middle episode, and drop it out a window. Itās gone, hopefully never to return to hurt us.
Keeping Eleven separated from the rest of the cast for most of the season is the greatest sin of the second season.
Having strong characterization can only go so far if you limit who characters interact with. Segmenting the cast by age groups in the first season was fine as we were meeting the characters, so we need to learn about them in their preferred environment and when normality is interrupted. They come together at the end and cooperate to save the day, an experience shared by all. Mike and Nancy even have a heart-to-heart about how they wonāt keep secrets from another. Real touching stuff.
For the second season, besides needing to flesh out the now present Will, we know the cast. So the fun should come from now intermingling the cast. Have Nancy consult Mike about getting hashtag Justice for Barb; Jonathan and Steve becoming romantic mentors to Lucas and Dustin;[3] Hopper becoming an unwilling paternal figure to the party; and show Eleven adjusting to the Real World.
Instead, Eleven only interacts with Hopper all season, and, yes, Daddy Hopper is adorable, though he should maybe try and remember heās caring for a socially stunted psychic before he starts yelling. Maybe have him start yelling, Eleven gets mad, one bookshelf falls over, both stop to look at this reaction, then Hopper runs both of them through the deep breathing exercise from the end of Season One before talking it through.
Eleven and Hopperās arc shouldāve been about learning to trust in a scary world, instead ofā¦ whatever they were going for. And giving her limited interaction with her friends wouldāve allowed for this growth, as the party would first have to coax her out of the cottage, and then sheād have firmer ground to question Hopper keeping her cooped up.
And I so love fish out of water stories. Learning what money is and asking Hopper for an allowance? Stumbling about and learning not to assault people who offend her?[4] Being the first kid to form a bond with Bob? All wouldāve been nice to watch happen.
Also, Bob wasā¦ okay. He didnāt leave much of an impression on me for a generically nice man. They shouldāve worked the āBob founded the AV Clubā thing in way sooner, so it wasnāt an awkward line shoved in after his death to retcon in stakes for The Party. It was awkward.
Also, no one else wearing costumes is the least realistic thing. After my 13 years of public school, I know that would never happen.
Itās not all bad, letās be clear. Upping the threat of the Upside Down and giving it a central intelligence was good, as was expanding on the Demogorgon lifecycle to bring in a nice Alien touch. The tunnels made the threat feel more immediate, and explained the pockets of Upside Down that broke out in season 1. Max isā¦ promising. Hopefully sheāll get more of a concrete arc going forward, but sheās got a good start.
So, in summation, I liked Season 1, and 2 was as enjoyable with a few missteps that hopefully wonāt be forced back in. My one fear is that theyāre going to put the Mind Flayer on the back burner and spend the next season on the less interesting āOther Test Subjectsā plotline. Weāre heading towards the end of the Superhero Media boom, while I canāt think of many properties that focus on themes of eldritch and inhuman intelligences that the Mind Flayer and Upside Down presents.
Still, when Stranger Things 3 arrives, Iāll watch as eagerly as anyone else.
If you enjoyed this review, may I suggest to trawl through my archive to see if you enjoy my other works? (The CanvasReviews tag should give you a good start). Also, feel free to send me messages and question. I also have a Patreon, if thatās your sort of thing.
Kataal kataal.
[1] Yes, even Communityās much beloved take. There was no passion in it and it was weighed down by the āOne Character for all gamesā and āDice results dictate everythingā concepts that makes zero sense. [2] How can you forget about Rogues, you idiots? Itās literally the best class! [3] I will go on record: if you sit me through a tired love triangle, but follow it up by having two corners advise on a new love triangle, I will be on board for that absurdity. [4] For context, my ideal ending of the the show is the town just transitions into casually accepting that, sometimes, eldritch horrors pop up, and just deal with them casually.

Back to Hogwarts - Part the Seventh
Welcome back readers! Itās been a long road, but weāve finally reached the last book. At least now the division of my coverage of these books matches that of the movies (sort of). The first half of book 7 could easily be a one big set up piece, a āget to the fireworks factoryā slog. Much as I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the journey to the final battle does tend to go on (and on and on). Instead, here we get a well-built story containing some excellent character moments and a really thoughtful progression of events (as weāve come to expect from the author by now. Letās take a look at what makes this ābeginning of the endā so special.
Seven books in, Rowling is still finding creative ways to provide exposition. In a story as wide-ranging as this, thereās no avoiding it, as there are so many relevant events that take place outside of the main charactersā experiences. Since the Penseive was becoming such a tiresome device, it was refreshing to get intel on the past by way of Harryās disguised conversations with Doge and Auntie Muriel at the wedding. Likewise, the use of Extendable Ears to eavesdrop on the refugee wizards and goblins' conversation in the woods was a fitting way for our heroes to learn whatās going on in the outside world, since they are, by necessity, otherwise cut off from it. Both of these scenes might be considered too convenient, except that they serve multiple functions. In the case of the wedding, it provides some much needed lightness in a very dark story and reminds Harry of the simple pleasures in life that make his sacrifices worth making. And the refugee scene just makes sense; it would be totally natural that otherwise unlikely companions would find themselves lumped together under fear of persecution. Theyād be seeking shelter in the same types of places Harry and company would be, so theyād be bound to run into one of these groups eventually. And these folks would logically be interested in discussing exactly the matters that the protagonists need to know about. Both scenes are textbook examples of excellent exposition that make logical sense and fit seamlessly into the narrative.
There are a lot of hard to read moments in this book that really confirm that the series has matured along with its audience and characters. Of course the deaths of Hedwig and Mad-Eye are upsetting, even moreso than the deaths weāve read before in the series because theyāre so dear to our hearts (and to Harryās). But beyond that, this book offers moments darker than ever seen before. Detestable as Kreacher is, the combination of Hermioneās sympathy, in spite of his strong distaste for her, and our knowledge of Harry and Dumbledoreās experience with the potion from the basin in the cave makes his story so difficult to get through (and almost makes all that SPEW business worth it). And, in my opinion, the discomfort of that scene is relatively small compared with the excruciating flashback Harry experiences in Godricās Hollow, detailing his parentsā final moments. It may be my perspective as a parent, it may be that Iād completely forgotten about this moment so it read as new. Whatever it was, reading as Harry relived his parentsā deaths was almost too much to bear and was more heartbreaking to me than anything else in the first half of this book.
Rowling has been incredibly active on Twitter lately, combatting trolls on current events. With the frightening parallels to past historical tragedy and the threat of history repeating itself these days, itās not hard to see why. In the wizarding world, a small, hateful group has taken power over both the government and the press while the rest of the community bands together to #resist. The face of the government is a puppet, controlled by a behind-the-scenes hatemonger. The activities surrounding the Muggle-Born Registry smacks of recent government activity aimed at keeping ābad outsidersā out of our country. The Snatchers feel equivalent to the ICE raids happening daily. The Quibbler, a formerly frivolous media outlet, has become the trusted source for truth, the Teen Vogue of the Potterverse. Ron is constantly putting himself in harmās way to protect Hermione because of her blood status, reminiscent of the way Germans hid Jews from the Nazis in the 1940s. Ron also offers the logic that the existence of Squibs proves Muggle-borns couldnāt steal magic if they wanted to. RON WEASLEY HAS A POINT, YāALL, but nobody is listening. All of this feels horrifyingly familiar. It was frightening on first reading, but not nearly as scary as it is to read now because these sorts of things are actually happening in real life and I. HAVE. CHILLS.
Speaking of Ron, letās look at how he evolves over the course of the first half of this story. In the beginning, Ron is typical Ron; an ass focused on āHow to Charm Witches,ā rather than the important matters. His failure to take their situation as seriously as the others leads to his explosion and separation from his friends. Ron is a complete fucking moron for leaving, of course, but his immediate regret reveals that heās not mad at them, heās mad at himself for not realizing before now how bad things are and how hard the struggle truly is going to be. And who can blame him? Ronās seen tough times throughout the series and heās always contributed to their victories, but in the end Harryās always triumphed and heās always been along for the ride. Now, triumph seems far beyond their grasp and his frustration with the situation is taken out on his friends. Thankfully Rowling allows Ron to redeem himself and show growth, both through magical intervention (by hearing his friends through the Deluminator) and via his thrilling heroics. His relationship with Hermione remains complicated, but their story is not over at this point. As much as I want them to JUST KISS, her beating the crap out of him on his return feels more right.
And speaking of Hermione, her resourcefulness continues to impress. When she revealed that she used a Summoning charm to obtain the books about Horcruxes from Dumbledoreās office, I was legitimately surprised it had taken her this long to resort to that kind of tactic, but pleased with the logic that it couldnāt have been done prior, as Dumbledoreās protective charms on the objects in his office died with him. Itās one of many examples of Rowling being very careful to set up obstacles in such a way that our heroes canāt just magic their way out of anything. Itās the same thing that makes superhero stories interesting; itās enjoyable to read about characters who have abilities that we donāt, but if they can just do anything they want, whatās the point? (Rules really do make the game more fun, you guys.) I really adore the way Hermione and Ron are falling in love in a totally unconscious way; they bicker and fight like an old married couple already, but they also always reach for each other to protect each other in moments of fear and danger. Itās quite endearing and makes for a great payoff later in the book. Hermione also gets some great, smaller moments of Being Right, including scolding Harryās doubt of Dumbledore in the face of false reports from biased sources and her understanding of wizard-house elf relations being the key to getting the first Horcrux of the book. My only gripe with her in this section is her insistence that Harry use Occlumency to fight Voldemort. Itās within character, of course, but a bit grating, since she doesnāt seem to get that itās one of those talents you canāt master at will and have to know how it feels to be able to do it (not to mention what a handy literary device it is).
Dumbledore may be dead, but he is still such a presence in both Harryās life and this book. As we learned from Lin-Manuel Miranda āyou have no control/who lives, who dies, who tells your story,ā and that all comes across heavily here. Harryās regret in not having asked Dumbledore more questions, about the mission and about himself, before his death is so relatable. Harryās commitment to confirming the truth about Dumbledore mimics Dumbledoreās own commitment to confirming the truth about Riddle in the previous book, though Harry isnāt consciously aware of the lesson heās learned from the mentor who would be proud of Harry for investigating his background. Throughout the series, I believe that the journey of Harry and the reader is meant to be parallel, but here we find out that those journeys are also parallel to that of one Albus Dumbledore. Harry shows the same naivete in believing Skeeterās book as Albus showed in believing in Grindelwald as a young man, as the reader shows if they believe what Harry believes, which a younger reader might, but an older, more critical reader is better equipped to see the authorās misdirection. Itās all terribly clever of Rowling and a bit easier to see on a reread when the reader is not so caught up in the tension and excitement of the plot. And while we also know there are plenty of similarities between Harry and Voldemort, this part of this book serves to crystallize the difference between them. Harry is as driven and arguably reckless in pursuit of his goals as Voldemort is, as we see in the mission to retrieve the locket from the Ministry. And he could have gotten away with it much more cleanly had he only stunned Yaxley and Umbridge and slipped away under the Invisibility cloak. But Harry is our hero and he cannot leave the innocent Muggle-born prisoners in the hands of a corrupted Ministry. So as we prepare for final faceoff between these two, itās nice to have their differences confirmed as much as their similarities.
Iām leaving off here, after the destruction of the first Horcrux, with so much more to come. Normally I finish writing before I move on to read the next section, but I confess this time to being too invested to stop reading this time, so Iām already super pumped to bring you the exciting conclusion. See you all next month!

ANIME?? OwO ;;
Anime. When you read that, most of you think of a specific art style; large sparkly eyes, crazy hairstyles, disproportionate bodies, and over exaggerated expressions. If you're a parent, you most likely recognize Poke'mon, Dragonball Z, or Sailor Moon as anime. If you're like me, and grew up in the glory days of Toonami, you have a much wider understanding of the variety of Japanese animations. You may also think of the many, many genres within said animations, some of which are not family friendly at all. You may have thought of the term "weeabo" or "otaku" to describe the fans of it. Though used excitedly by (typically) young fans to identify themselves, these terms are most often used as derogatory labels by older generations and those who do not watch anime. It's possible you've thought of the meme of Hayao Miyazaki, a renowned Japanese animator, screenwriter, and director, misquoted as saying, "Anime was a mistake." I bring up anime, mistake or not, in today's blog because of its influence over the art styles of many artists who were raised in the 90s and early 2000s. This is not going to be a history lesson, or a deep dive into anime culture in America. There are plenty of those around that I'm sure are easily found. This is just a look at my own experience being an artist and, dare I say it, a weeabo. As a kid, I didn't really have a concept of what was "good" art or "acceptable" art. I only knew what I liked and didn't like. I liked shows such as Digmon, DBZ, Tenchi Muyo, and Inuyasha, so I wanted to mimic the art styles in my drawings. I wanted my art to fit into the world that was presented before me on the TV screen. From there, I went on to buy manga (comic books written and illustrated by Japanese artists), play video games brought over from Japan, and dive deeper and deeper into this subculture. I made friends with other people who watched and read the same things I did; most, if not all, of them also were artists. You could tell who we were in Junior High because we always had our sketchbooks with us, drawing comic strips, original characters, or fanart of our favorite shows. Looking back, I can see how people would consider this "cringey." We often went beyond copying art styles, and adopted the over the top reactions characters had in the shows we loved. The groups that formed Ā were usually comprised of kids that felt socially awkward, and flourished in a group where being weird was apart of the requirement. It was okay to be loud and goofy in these groups. We bonded over characters and would gift each each other with art. My room as a young teen was covered in mine and my friends' art. It was an art gallery of our own design, regardless of how good or bad it was. But, the older I got, the more I noticed how anime was viewed both online and in the general culture. Outside of my specific groups, the art style was often criticized, and generally not considered "true art." My art teacher in high school discouraged my anime style tendencies, pushing for realism. This became even more true when I went to college for Studio Art. Anything resembling the shows I loved as kid was disregarded as not serious, or outright mocked. I learned quickly to strive for realism in all my assignments, though in my personal sketchbooks, I was less strict. Even now, at 27, it's easy to see how anime has influenced my art. I don't think that's bad. I don't think it's good. I think it's just a fact. There are many American artists i know who have moved away from their anime roots to develop either more realistic styles, or different styles entirely. Others, I see leaning into the style of anime, becoming better and better at it, developing their own styles within that genre. There's no wrong way to grow from that starting place. So long as you grow. Whether that's to a new style, or to a deeper understanding of the current style, it's still growth. In closing, let artists do art in whatever style they want. There's enough people in this world that if you don't like a style, you can find someone else to follow. And go easy on yourself too. So what if your style looks like Sailor Moon? That show's awesome, super popular, and about women empowerment. Enjoy yourself! Draw what you like, how you like! In name of the moon, I will encourage you!!!

ha, friendsgiving. it was fun. it was just like, everything you could ask for, really. friends. food. pictionary on a huge mirror. charades. which was funny asl. like, you know, wear a cross necklace and almost had your topic asĀ ābibleā and youāre like ironic huh, iām wearing a cross, i went to CCD, yet unless youāre telling me to part the sea on some Moses shit, I prob wonāt know really, well, I know a little bit. Maybe not exactly who wiped Jesusā face when he fell under the weight of the cross. I mean, I could Google it now but eh. My topic wasĀ āHarry Potterā FAILED LMAO. yeah, someone always ends up choosing that, eyeglasses hair blah blah. Idgaf. cuz if you know me irl, what he considers magic, isnāt my magic. plus, i didnāt need to learn magic and shit, iām just magical lol. my friends are just like, older mentality. Married. got other plans. three of us went to the bar that plays 80s music. One of them LOVES that place. SUPER TURNT. omg. I liked that he was having such a great time. because tbh, i still feel kind of sober lol. The crowd is great. I love that. I could deal with crowds. Maybe not too crowded like tonight, but I donāt feel like Iām trapped, I just feel like itās just better if you had someone you actually loved and youāre dancing the night away. Hanging out with your friends and grooving is cool too, but itās just not the same. If we went on a weekday, less crowded, or earlier, ideal. I went to Long Beach to Downey, which is only 20 minutes away. I drove. I picked up my friend who lives in a city nearby from me. we all brought food, had to get moms to hook me up with some Filipino dish. Yeah well if I couldāve found something to do easily and guaranteed, I still wouldāve been out and about. But I am tired, I am a little tipsy, Iām still going to drink more, probably.
My profile photo on insta changed, and itās actually a photo I made my friend take of me when he was super turnt. that mightāve sobered me up cuz Iām like damn, well, I drove another friend and to be that turnt and having to drive someone else... nope, not a good sign. I hope he got home okay cuz he drove by himself. Itās crazy, right? You want to try to do the right thing, but itās like, he left before us and he consciously made that decision so even if heās reallyĀ āon oneā I believe heāll get home. Thatās really like the suburbs style. Weāre so used to just like, getting messed up and still driving home, cuz mostly, we prob just live like within a 10 minute radius. Anyway, Iām just here to have a good time.
I canāt complain. I donāt care. I always have relationship convos with my friend I picked up and heās telling me how he doesnāt like how the girls heās been with have to have affirmations and you know, he doesnāt want to have to tell her where he is going or where is going to be. itās like, well, that makes it harder to be in a relationship cuz most girls I know NEED to know where you are. they donāt like the uncertainty that youāre not doing something that isnāt with them. but I was telling him like, yo, seriously, there are girls out there who seriously are so busy they canāt even think about what you are doing all the time. maybe yāall will set up a date to talk on certain days, but thatās it. itās like, it could be long distance, it could be free. you just gotta look, you gotta put yourself out there, maybe go visit other places. even on the internet, you think peeps you are attracted to arenāt lonely? peeps with internet clout? Nah, they are but they just are too focus on their craft or their loneliness shows in their craft or no time to think, really.
So whatās your problem then? you canāt seem to find any reason to be busy at all. you donāt wanna work out. you donāt wanna do extensive anything. maybe music, but thatās a given. idk, i also was telling him like, dude i know i aināt young, but if you put it in perspective with technology and shit, we are really all just 5 years younger than we really are. thatās why I could be 31 but since Iām single and I donāt have my own pad or a girlfriend who might even be the reason why I have a pad, Iām just really living like Iām in my middle 20s. yeah that means if like youāre 22, youāre just a teen teen lol. He didnāt really agree with that because you know, heās like already trying to put offers to houses, heās worked so much, heās experienced, but yet the reason why he wonāt settle is because he doesnāt want a girl who bloody tracks his every move lmao. Look, itās funny because, shit, at least he has a girl thatās interested in him right now, but theyāre going to break up. heās stuck in that, shit, Iām kind of past being in the shallow end, now Iām heading toward the 6 to 8 feet. and sheās acting all nice still, but at some point, sheās going to want to go into fullĀ āball and chainā (iām kidding but i mean thatās what beingĀ ātied downā really is) and heās really just going to be like, nah, it aināt gon to work out. because heās too focused on himself which is actually the most LA thing he couldāve expressed. being career driven andĀ āstabilityā driven is a good thing but to the point of showing very little interest over something that might be considered trivial in a relationship will baffle a lot of peeps..... but I still get it.
I seriously like know exactly how thatās like. Because Iām the type of person who isnāt really clingy. sure, i have moments but theyāre fleeting. when i was a baby, i would cry but it would never last long, and thatās always how itās been. i havenāt quite met a girl whoās just like, yeah, relationships are cool and Iām in one but I kind of just want you to be loyal and away from me. Go have some fun. whatās a relationship these days anyway? Do you base it off, how much youāre given, how much youāre allowed to have, or how much you can tolerate each other? Is it a mixture of everything and anything, and just the fact yāall click better than most? itās weird cuz you know, I have another friend whoās seriously had one girlfriend, never had his heart broke and heās literally going to marry this girl any time now, maybe in the next couple of years. i call that lucky. itās like they both care and not care simultaneously. they know where they stand, they know they trust each other, plus it helps that itās all proximity and their families like each other, their friends as well. all mutual shit.
so where does that leave you and me and her and he? just another familiar yet unfamiliar face in the crowd. thereās always those people who interact with you and they think youāre hilarious. the girl who has a boyfriend might smile at you just cuz she seen you having a good time, and thatās why even that is going out worthy. but you still come home, and it feels a little empty. you either just keep sinking in your personal pit, or you just keep your hope up of the potential waiting. idk bout you, most people here are just somewhat balancing between losing their mind completely and just putting on a facade for everyone they love cuz you canāt fold, even though you listen to shit that essentially hates the system. some people can tolerate that and still live normal lives. others will pretty much avoid anything rebellious, especially consumption of media, because theyāre going to rebel even more to the point of either landing them in prison or whatever. some people are just susceptible to shit like that.
they know better though. you know better though. still, youāre going to express anything and everything because thatās your therapy.
iām just a boy in LA, doing LA things, getting by, really. i love living in LA. i havenāt traveled much but there isnāt anything like it. the problem is, as you grow older, you just become an island. some of you, unfortunately, already know how that is and yāall aināt even 25 yet. thatās like yeah, pretty shitty. but you got too much time still ahead of you. Iām 31 thatās like young but old enough to beĀ āover withā aka, if I was a woman Iād only have like 4-5 years until it becomes extra difficult to get pregnant, prob even impossible. and thatās another thing, i feel like i might not ever have kids. mostly cuz itās bloody expensive to raise one and i canāt even super take care of myself like that, honest truth lol. i feel like even some of my cousins might not even have relationships, and that there, isnāt something i want to happen.
sometimes one relationship can really eff things up for someone. sometimes, unfortunately, you canāt fall because youāre attracted to people that donāt like you back, and so, you also donāt want to settle for less, so you donāt settle at all. there are people who seriously will use whatever damn dating app and having more or lessĀ āexperienceā but wonāt have any end game whatsoever. i think most of us are just trying to look for something they consider good enough for them. too bad we donāt even feel good enough to be ourselves.
itās a growth thing. youāll know more as you age. if you donāt, well, thatās really on you. donāt stop believing, like the journey song. because itās really all about the journey, not the destination. the destination is just a cherry on top.

Itās true that I am a former teacher and life-long nerd , but my studentsā success stories SHOW that you can do it too! Being a nerd is cool, but optional. ļ Dang, I Want To Do This Too! GUESS WHAT? Good Newsā¦ RIGHT NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME Look, todayās world changes at a break-neck pace and Amazon is no exception.
Itās always changing.
Your competition is still spinning their wheels handing out business cards, paying for banner ads, and wishing for more publicity.
But now that youāve found that there is a way to ethically get to the top of Amazon, even if you are a first-time author without a huge email list or marketing budgetā¦
ā¦Now is the time to strike!
ā¦To pounce!
Pounce like a tiger on your chance to tell your story, share your experience, and stand head and shoulders above the crowd. OKAY, BUT I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BENEFITS FROM DOING THIS. Yes!
Letās talk about how becoming a best-selling author can really help you and your business (beyond just book sales ā because thatās not even the best part for someone with a growing business and brand!)
My goal is to take you from frustrated and disappointed to feeling happy and abundant!
Letās dive in below!
ļ I Want To Be A Best-Selling Author! WHY YOU NEED TO BE A BEST-SELLING AUTHOR I taught high school Math and Psychology for about 5 years before taking the full leap into entrepreneurism.
That was in 2011.
Flash forward to the Fall of 2016ā¦ Iād now been grinding and working hard for 5 years as a business owner.
But I felt stuckā¦
I felt burned out and invisibleā¦
I felt frustrated and embarrassed that my podcast production business (and podcast about copywriting) wasnāt growing as fast as I felt like it should beā¦
So, in October of that year, I decided that I had enough of āplaying smallā and said Iād do whatever it took to never feel like this again! I wanted clients to come TO ME instead of feeling like I was always chasing.
I decided to dive into conferences, meet-ups, and events to improve my network.
But what I found was that people would look around the room for ābiggerā names to jump over to while pretending to talk to me.
That hurt.
Business cards seemed to be a complete waste of time. At these big events I was going to, people had already Googled you to see what popped up.
And if you were anyone āof note,ā they sought you out to take a selfie, invite you on their podcast, or do business with you. If not, you were seen as āa needy newbieā and generally overlooked or dismissed.
I started to noticed that most all of the āinfluencersā in these events had a book. Many even brought them along and did book signings that made people flock and fawn all over them.
These authors looked like celebrities because of it!
It made me realize that books were the new calling card. Business cards were quickly tossed in the trash. But people treated a book with reverence. And the author was instantly seen as an expert. Someone important.
And those who could claim āBest-Sellerā? Woah, even more so!
But the effects didnāt stop āin-person.ā
If someone Googles you and sees that you wrote a book and earned a best-seller title, the positive effects continue online as well!
Since earning the ranks of āauthorā and ābest-sellerā myself (after taking massive action the very next month), I have seen first-hand that other peoplesā eyes widen with shock and admiration when you tell them that you are a best-selling author.
By the way, most people have it wrong. Itās actually not that hard. I found the (ethical) short cut.
Being an author helps you stand out in your niche as the authority. Claiming the title of ābest-sellerā gives even more credibility and bragging rights.
It separates you from your competition, gets YOU on more shows, gets YOU invited on more podcasts, and gets YOU more businessā¦
Thatās what we want, right?
Yes! Yes!
Getting more business bragging rights isnāt just about ego. Itās about leverage to stand out from your competition and win more sales and clients.
Itās just Psychology.
Because if itās between you and your competition, but YOU wrote āthe bookā on the subject. Who will they pick?
You.
Sharing your knowledge in book form and hitting #1 best-seller has a direct effect on the growth of your brand and business.
Iāll show you the way without the headache. Itās easy once you know the right recipe. Exclusive Deal Only Available Here 30% off regular price
ļŗ Yes! I Want To Become A Best-Selling Author
Ben had it rightā¦
If you want to stand out from your competition, you need to do something note-worthy. So, letās hit best seller on Amazon with your book!
For me, in late 2016, I felt stuck in the growth of my podcast production business. I felt like I always had to chase leads and haggle prices to get *any* client instead of hand-select only dream clients who wouldnāt question price because of the value they knew I could bring.
But I couldnāt figure out how to go from where I was to where I wanted to beā¦
It seemed that others in the space got tons of media coverage and first pick of clients while I got what was left over.
No bueno!
I tried to imagine what it would look like if I were the go-to person in the podcasting and copywriting worlds!ā¦
Right up in the ranks of John Lee Dumas, Pat Flynn, Amy Porterfield, and Cliff Ravenscraft for podcasting and Frank Kern, Joanna Wiebe, and Jay Abraham for copywriting.
I tried to envision what it would look like if people: ā¢ reached out to me to interview me on their podcasts (instead of the other way around) ā¢ sought me out at networking events ā¢ wanted to hire me for my services simply because of my reputation and brand recognition as being the best.
Then it struck me! ā
If you want to be seen as amazing, you need to do something amazing.
So, I decided to stop *wishing* things were different and took MASSIVE action.
I decided to write, publish, and hit #1 Amazon best-seller for my book. It was my first book ever. In just 30 days!
I decided to make the competition irrelevant and write a best-selling book.
āļø You can too. ļ I Want To Be A Best-Selling Author Hereās What Happened to Me ā
Featured in an article in Thrive Global ā
Invited onto tons of podcast shows ā
Taught a seminars on podcasting all over the world ā
Invited to join a new business venture with a mega-influencer ā
Attended T.V. premieres and walked the red carpet with idols of mine ā
Spoke on stage for the Podcast Cruise (by founders of Podcast Movement!)
For me, having a teaching background, Iām not someone who naturally wants to be the super star celebrity. Instead, I love connecting with people, helping, and learning.
Thatās what fuels me!
I realized through frustration at not being seen as a leader in my field, that a best selling book would help me get booked on more podcasts, invited to speak on more stages, and be featured in more articles.
And it has!
Now, I want to teach you how too.
The snowball effect of this makes me feel proud, extremely confident, and more in control of my own business now being seen as a leader and not a follower!
People NOW reach out to me instead of my reaching out to them!
It all started with the book.
ā¦which led to making more sales, booking more high-profile clients, and leveling up the āole network. GOOD FOR YOU, WHAT ABOUT ME? LETāS BRING IT BACK TO THE IMPORTANT POINTā¦ The reason I shared this above is not to brag or preach. Rather, I wanted to show you that if you are feeling any of theseā¦
ā¢ frustrated at not enough (traffic, leads, sales, clients, media attention, credibility) ā¢ jealous of others getting all the āloveā online and at networking events ā¢ embarrassed at not being as far or as successful in your business as you want to be at this point ā¢ annoyed at the wheel spinning and āwork hard for little or no resultsā feeling ā¢ discouraged at how long youāve been hustling without enough to show for it ā¢ fearful that you wonāt make enough to hire the help you need, buy the product or service that will make a difference, or get you in front of the right audiences for growth
ā¦then you are just where I used to be.
And getting a book out there with the ābest-sellingā bragging rights helped turn things around.
Iām not claiming that you will make a crap-ton of money from the book sales, because you donāt actually need to sell that many books to get this coveted title (at least right now), if you know the recipe for Amazon Best-Selling success (which Iāll gladly teach you!).
But what can come as a result of the title is more than worth it!
Look at Sabah Ali! Sheās still in college and hit #1 Best-Seller on Amazon in two categories that lead to her being featured on the COVER of the Iowa State Daily newspaper and landing a big, paid internship in the summer.
Look at Connor Gillivan! He hit #1 in all three of his categories (and one in Canada too!) and is getting barraged with podcast interview invites to talk about the book and his company FreeeUp.
The ROI is clearly there.
Even without tons of book sales, leveraging a best-selling book to grow your brand and current business is a smart strategy. OKAY, SWEETā¦WHATāS THE RECIPE THEN? Glad you asked! Letās get you it too!
If youāve got a book idea, an outline, a rough draft, or a finished book and want to take it to the Best-Seller list, then keep readingā¦
For 1-on-1 personal coaching, I still help a *small* number of people each month because I love it and want more case studies to show off!
But still running businesses, I cannot help everyone 1-on-1, so I work with only 1 or 2 people a month privately. The current rate is $2,500 for three 45-minute consulting calls spread out over 30 days (designed to lay on top of the course).
[Email [email protected] if you want more info. after buying the course].
But if you are ready to jump in, terrific. The timing couldnāt be better.
For you, I broke out everything step-by-step in an easy-to-follow sequence of video tutorials and powerful resources inside theā¦ ļŗ I Want to Be a Best Selling Author Amazon Best-Seller Course for Entrepreneurs, Consultants, Coaches, Creators, Thought Leaders, Podcasters, Speakers, & more!) What is this?
Well, I recorded ALL the steps to take to hit Amazon Best-Seller in a short time frame, even with no email list and no marketing budget.
When I did mine, I didnāt email a single person (though I did leverage other things that you can too) and didnāt spend any money on paid advertising.
Yep $0.
So if you want to send emails or run some ads, your goal is even easier to attain, once you know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. Youāve got it in the bag if you follow my important steps.
Spoiler alertā¦hitting #1 Amazon Best-Seller boils down to THREE simple steps (aside from having a book worth reading, of course).
1. Category Selection 2. Timing of Release + Pricing Strategy 3. Marketing
Inside the course, I show you nitty-gritty details on each of these three important steps and more.
ā¢ Not sure what to write for your bookās description? I cover that.
ā¢ Not sure which accounts to set up and when? I cover that.
ā¢ Not sure how to get cover art done? I cover that.
But what makes this course different than other stuff out there online is two-foldā¦
1. I AM ACTUALLY A TEACHER. (I donāt just play one on the internet). I have a Masterās in Education and extensive experience teaching and tutoring Psychology, Math, Writing, SAT Prep, and more.
So, I know how to explain things in great detail so you never miss a step and are never left confused or lostā¦. But without the time-wasting fluff.
I donāt pontificate to hear myself talk. I focus on what will move you from where you are now to your goals, as quickly and painlessly as possible.
And I LOVE answering questions to fill in gaps and make things even better, so Iāll always be adding updates and replying to questions.
Itās my thang.
Here is a snippet of a few reviews I got from teaching Psychology 101 with Rio Salado Community College.
2. IāVE INCLUDED REAL, LIVE COACHING VIDEOS In addition to clean, clear lessons that break down each step, Iāve also included actual coaching sessions from some of my private coaching clientsā¦
Nicole, Stephen, Sabah, and Connor? Yep! Yep! Yep!
Why try to reinvent the wheel when you can just learn from what they did and apply it to yourself?
Watch this quick video for a fun inside look at some of those private sessions youāll be learning fromā¦ Best-Seller Coaching Calls
Playback isnāt supported on this device.
0:00 / 1:33 You get to come behind the scenes and listen like a fly on the wall to the actual questions they asked when they were in your position and the actual answer we gave them.
And any new 1-on-1 client (email for more info after you purchase the course) who agrees to have their sessions shared will be added inside to keep adding value to you.
At no extra charge to you! 3. GET SUPPORT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER LAUNCH Included with this course is a private Facebook group for only those who are in good standing with this program.
Inside you can ask questions, get valuable feedback, bounce ideas, and swap resources with others on their journey to best-seller status. And me!
And the best part is that we will ALL be there to support you when you go live.
Imagine what it can do to have fellow book-writing comrades ready to share your book when itās live, buy a copy during your marketing blitz, and leave you a review if they like it (but why wouldnāt they!?) to help your rankingsā¦
Give value, get value.
Just donāt go it alone. Letās take a closer lookā¦ In the course youāll get access to:
ā
Every video tutorial lesson that breaks down precisely what you need to do to get your book up on Amazon and hit the best-seller list (no experience necessary!).
ā
Case study examples of others just like you that you can learn directly from.
ā
Private Facebook community to get ideas, advice, more resources, and support before, during, and after your launch date.
So, if this sounds awesome, Iām super excited to help youā¦on one conditionā¦
My condition: You have to publish a good book, not just crap or plagiarized material. Iām not willing to help anyone who wants to cut corners and use this information to get rewards that arenāt deserved.
Deal? Deal! This video will let you peek inside the course!ā¦
Playback isnāt supported on this device.
0:00 / 5:13 If youāre still reading, then youāre committed to earning more credibility, authority, media attention, traffic, leads, and sales from a best-selling book in your niche.
You has stylz.
But nowā¦ you need abs. The Amazon Best-Seller Course, (or āABSāā¦Iāll help you get abs! ;)) contains step-by-step training videos, checklists, case studies, and supportā¦
What would it be worth if your best-seller statusā¦ ā¢ Booked you 1 extra client a month? Or 5 extra clients? ā¢ Generated more traffic and passive sales of your products? ā¢ Got you invited to speak on the stage of top events in your industry? ā¢ Put you at the āpeerā level with other industry top-dogs and lifted you out of the masses of āattendeesā or āfansā?
We would say that was worth thousands of dollars. Maybe more, depending on the pricing of what you sell.
But, like I said, Iām a teacher at heart and by training. My goal with this course is to help MORE people and do to that, we didnāt want to make it so expensive that it scared people away.
And considering that I now charge thousands for private coaching (remember supply and demand ā this can be you too, if it isnāt already!)ā¦ you are getting access to hours and hours of my carefully crafted training tutorials, checklists to make implementation faster and easier, and recorded case studies to learn from even more in-depth.

#2 - August 2, 2017
X,
First of all, notice that Iāve changed our url. And thatās because Iām a big fucking klutz and I accidentally liked a post on ZGās new girlfriendās blog while on this account. Just hand me a gold medal for being the worldās shittiest Tumblr stalker. ZG texted me and her girlfriend changed her url. Yikes.
Iām literally writing this at work right now. Getting paid by the hour. *money barf emoji*
About the self-sabotage/crushing on straight guys thing: It could be that youāre subconsciously going for people you know are unattainable, which is scary, but I think thatās actually a pretty normal tendency and I wouldnāt be too worried (if that helps at all?). Crushing on celebrities/older people/people in relationships can be a safe testing ground for us to figure out what we like and what kinds of people weāre into without the pressure of trying to make something happen. The problem is, in your case, you have to live with this guy AND a relationship is something that you actually want right now. Ā
Also, the feeling that everyone else is getting all of the experiences in dating/sex/romance and youāre not is LITERALLY THE WORST THING EVER. Like, it has so much power to bring up the āyo is there something wrong with me thoā feelings.
SO. A few things (gonna bullet point because paragraphs are whatever):
To be honest, a lot of things about dating really suck. The honeymoon period goes away eventually, and a lot of times youāre kind of left with this dynamic that feels more like when you and I would sit in the N*ckCave in high school and put in a pizza and talk about what to watch on TV/YouTube for 30mins before just sitting on the couch and doing whatever than it does ~romance~. Iām not saying thereās not value in that dynamic (there really, really is ā having someone you can love and feel comfortable doing next to nothing around is important and wonderful), but Iām just trying to demystify the whole ~~relationship~~ thing that often feels like surrounded by its own magical fairy dust from observers. Falling in love is exciting but, from my experience at least, itās one of those things that exists in the extremes of micro and macro. You notice it in tiny tiny things and you acknowledge its larger arc over time. The in between bits haze over and get lost in the everyday.
The point of that point (eyyy) was that relationships arenāt inherently meaningful. My tendency is to think of a romantic relationship as some fated match of kindred souls coming together, but thatās LOL NOT HOW IT WORKS S*PH**. More realistically itās just two people who were like āsup dude youāre cool Iām cool lets make something togetherā and then they do and it grows or it doesnāt. And the beautiful part is that thing you make and take care of. Not just the fact that youāre two people who are attracted to each other. And maybe itās fate but if it is we canāt think of it that way.
And youāre over there in California like āHI HELLO WORLD I AM *READY* TO BUILD THAT MOTHERFUCKING FIREā and youāre just getting echoes with a side of straight frat boys hollering āpu$$y pu$$y pu$$y marijuanaā and itās frustrating for me that I can't help you more with the literal finding-of-a-person-to-love situation. I canāt manifest a perfect partner for you (would if I could, boo), but Iām trying my best to use this space to complicate some of the assumptions about what the value of a relationship is, and why sometimes we feel such a lack (of love, of security, of power, of time left in our lives to *find* love/security/power) in our lives without one.
The TP/RS thing (wishing youād had the chance to have an experience like theirs early on ā or at all) is actually something thatās come up in my own anxious relationship thoughts. Part of me wants to say to you, āNo, those early, stepping-stone relationships are bullshit, timing doesnāt matter, thereās no such thing as ālearningā how be in a relationship because itās different every time with every person, TP and RS probably arenāt any better people or partners for it, etc.ā and part of me wants to say, āYo ok but letās not try to downplay the significant social capital and external validation they gained from being a public couple at R**s*v*lt and into later high school years. Dating has STRONG inertia, and itās as easy to slide from relationship to relationship when youāre in one/just got out of one (lol hi hello itās me) as it is difficult to break out of feeling static when you're single. Though likely not all too deep within the relationship itself, the fact that it got the ball rolling for both of them both in their sense of confidence in dating *and* in othersā perceptions of their respective ~datability~ is legitimate.ā
So what I think Iāll land on with the TP/RS thing (you know that Iām just using them as an example to talk about the concept of having dated while still under your parentsā roof, basically) is this: Yeah, not having done it does stunt your growth a little. And I think this phenomenon is particularly common and particularly evident for queer/gay people who were either not out in high school or didnāt date for other reasons. Iāve read more than one ~thinkpiece~ (donāt laugh at me) about the consequences for queer people in particular of barriers to dating during teen years. Maybe this is why the culture of hookups seems to exist for gay men and the culture of āU-haulingā exists for gay women? Like two extremes of dating, either no commitment or a TON all at once due to fear of not having the right āskillsā to build a steady partnership?
(I have a huge fucking bone to pick with the lack of safe, non-alcoholic queer spaces for young people. But thatās a topic for another post.)
BUT the area in which not having had relationships stunts your development is one that 1) has been overblown and glamorized in its significance and 2) probably has influence over your sense of relationship confidence more because of external social dynamics that validate couples over single people than because it gives you real life skills that make you a better partner. Did that make any sense? What Iām trying to say is that TP/RS relationships help you develop and thatās REAL but not in the way that you think, and the way that they help you develop doesnāt lend itself that well to the *stuff* that makes relationships juicy and loving and good. More social capital than internal growth. Same with JC/ZH.
On to the stuff that I think makes relationships juicy and loving and good: Vulnerability ā the blind trust in someone to take pieces of your literal warm guts and soul out of the part of your stomach that hurts when youāre embarrassed and put them on the table and feel the discomfort and, like, roll in it. Bloody fucking gross but bloody fucking good. The cool misty calm of the patience, space, curiosity that it takes to stay in tact as an individual human and united-yet-not-swallowed alongside another person (you canāt have all of your guts on the table or youād die, ya know?). Thereās a different kind of vulnerability (this is the one that Iām less good at, lmao) in trusting silence and allowing privacy and distance and unknown and allowing for a slower meshing, I guess. Also, willingness to embrace and respect mundane ā having enough faith in your mutual connection to know that itās there even when itās not right in front of you. Obviously thereās a lot more than those three, but I feel like anything else I could list would kind of fit into one of those categories.
I donāt think any of those skills (can you call them that?) are exclusive to romantic relationships. You can explore those concepts within yourself and notice your own ability to give/receive vulnerable words and actions, your own tendency to desire an all-consuming or all-giving bond with someone regardless of reciprocation (gas refilling?), and what feels scary and what feels safe and why. What are the parts of you that youāre excited/ready to share with another person? What are the parts of you that you want to share with another person but (possibly) feel scared to give? And what are the parts of you that feel so precious that you want to keep all to yourself? What do you want or not want to receive Ā If there are any ~stepping stones~ toward a meaningful partnership, I think itās asking yourself these questions.
I hope Iām not getting too theoretical or too preachy here. This is for you but itās also for me. Putting these words on a page feels nice because shit if I know how love works.
I canāt take away the pain and the SHITTYNESS that comes with watching everyone around you navigate hookups and dating and love while also having unrequited feelings for someone. Thatās like a double fucking punch in the stomach. And I also felt like sharing ~practical dating tips~ would be kind of dumb because our environments are so different and I canāt really promise that anything I would have suggested would actually help you get what you want. But I hope these thoughts can at least give you something to chew on? I hope they can complicate some widespread assumptions about what relationships are and why we think (/are told) theyāre somehow higher than other forms of love.
Currently, Iām feeling a little too winded by the nauseating Uber pool ride that is my internal life right now to write it all down and flesh it out. Today, things feel calm and relatively stable (by āthingsā I mean: my mental health and its inevitable connection to how secure Iām feeling in my relationship with PL, my lingering not-relationship-not-friendship-but-not-not-something with ZG, and my attraction to GL ā text me if you need explanations of initials, but I think you got it). Last night, PL gave me a packet and reading of five poems from the last few months that all have to do with me/our relationship. I think Iāve told you this, but sheās a published and super talented legit poet, so these arenāt just sappy love poems Iām dealing with here. I cried and I didnāt know how to respond to her poem-words with my mouth-words and I told her that I love her.
The I-love-you thing has been something weāve opened conversation about before. When I explained to her my complications with feeling like I got into this relationship too fast after ZG and that Iām still dealing with leftover feelings and love for ZG (Itās been an intense couple of weeks for PL and me. Did I tell you about this conversation we had? I also told her about GL ā not by name because I think that would make things really tricky, but I told her that I have feelings for one of my close friends), one of the things that hurt her the most was that I was so freely saying how much I still āloved and cared aboutā ZG when āI love youā still isnāt a thing that PL and I regularly say in our relationship. I told PL that it wasnāt that I didnāt feel that way towards her, but I just didnāt feel ready for whatever reason to say it, even though it gets expressed in different ways.
But I think the real reason why Iāve been hesitant to say it is that in a lot of ways it feels like the last thing I can hold onto about my relationship with ZG. As if only having said āI love youā to one romantic partner ever kept ZGās and my relationship alive in some way, and that sharing those words with someone else (even if I felt it) would start the real fading-away process of that past relationship.
Last night I felt it, and I said it, and PL said it back, and likeā¦ nothing exploded. Love is not finite! You LITERALLY cannot run out. Itās cool. I just have to keep reminding myself that loving a new person doesnāt diminish or disrespect previous loves. Then we had sex on her parentsā couch.
I love you and I miss you and write back when you can.
Sincerely,
Just Wants Lots Of Friends Who Invite Me To Their Parties (aka Y)

Itās true that I am a former teacher and life-long nerd š¤, but my studentsā success stories SHOW that you can do it too!

Grays- Powers & Personalities
Powers
Abe:Ā Abe can manipulate spatial dimensions. For his ābasicā power level, that means he can functionally teleport by moving space around him until he is where he wishes to be. He needs to know where his destination is in relation to his current location, and he is much more accurate if he can visualize the space of his destination. As he gains better control over his abilities, he can do more things- Teleport another person or object within his sight without touching them (Even older, he can teleport them without also teleporting himself, though thatās Abe in his forties or older). Intermediate level Abe can also distort the space around himself to some degree- If he was falling and a foot from hitting the ground, he could make that distance suddenly much larger. If someone else was falling, he could shorten the distance between them and his arms. Stuff like that. He can also teleport to Sadie even w/out knowing where she is by visualizing her as accurately as possible- He can sort of do this even at his ābeginningā level, but moderate Abe is much better at it. Advanced Abe can do all of those things, but to greater degrees and for longer periods of time- Functionally, of my characters in this universe, Abe is one of the powerful. (Tied w/Sybil, as she is also only really limited by her imagination and practice.) Hence, I prefer to play him when he is younger and less adept!
Dinah: Dinah cannot be affected by the Gifts/powers of others. She is immune to offensive powers and cancels out defensive ones. If someone were invisible, she would see them. If someone tried to turn her to stone, she would have no idea. (This can be pretty flexible depending on the powers of the other characters and what is most interesting for the RP!) Generally, Dinahās touch or biology has the same affect as she does- If she was holding hands with someone, they would also see the invisible person or be immune to being turned to stone. Intermediate level Dinah learns to āthrowā her immunity/cancellation to include others that she is not touching. Advanced Dinah can do so over a greater range, and can also remove her shielding effect from herself for a short time so that she is also susceptible to the powers of others- Like if Abe needed to teleport her somewhere, or Mags needed to heal her. Dinah is usually missing both an arm and a leg, and may have prosthetics or even advanced robotics in their place depending on the story. Usually these are not super strong or anything beyond your basic bullet-proof metal arm, but they are usually packed with explosives. Dinah is determined that no one will try to make a ācureā from her- in her life or her death- and is willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure that.
Sadie: Sadie is impervious to physical changes and cannot be harmed. I havenāt exactly decided how this affected her growth- Obviously she was a kid at one point, and now sheās not, so she can change if the factors are internal? But basically, she canāt be cut or shot or whatever- If you punched her, you wouldnāt necessarily break your fist, unless you had punched her with the force appropriate for that. Her hair, nails and eyelashes, can be cut or burned, but they cannot be pulled out. Early Sadie has minimal fighting skills- Why would she bother developing a technique? Intermediate Sadie does learn to actually fight, and advanced Sadie has something akin to āsuperstrengthā. Iām not a fan of super strength as a rule, but since Sadieās muscles can take considerably more strain than the average person, she can also develop considerable more muscle mass. I donāt imagine Sadie could just lift a car on a whim, but if one were lowered onto her outstretched hands and she had a solid stance, she could probably hold it there for awhile, even in her earlier days. Sadie can become unhealthy- Experiments were done on her to test her limits for sleep deprivation, starvation, etc, and basically what was found was that it could be done, but she didnāt really seem to have a limit, and that she recovered quickly. She was drowned, the air sucked out of her room, other experiments to test if she was really impervious to harm- Those things definitely affected her while they happened, but once the water was cleared from her lungs, she was functionally fine.
Personality:
Abe: Abe has by far the most āreal worldā experience of the triplets. His power set meant that he frequently went on missions, even as a small child. He has met many more people, inside and outside of the organization that owned them, and had many more chances to observe humanity. This is valuable experience for himself and his siblings, but it has given him a rather bleak outlook, since all of that experience was through the lens of criminal activity. He believes that people are inherently cruel, and is incredibly risk-averse. As he grew older, Abeās obedience earned him a longer leash, that he rarely took advantage of. He would do anything to protect Sadie and Dinah, and he was never very good at hiding that, and his captors exploited that time and time again. Despite his abilities, the only āescape attemptā Abe ever made was maybe around seven years old after he had gotten ice cream for the first time and later realized that neither Sadie nor Dinah had ever had it. After this, the three of them were no longer allowed to all meet together, and for years, the only interaction Sadie or Dinah had with the other was through Abe, as he was allowed to visit both of them as a ārewardā for his good behaviors.
Dinah: Dinah spent the majority of her childhood strapped down in a medical lab, having her blood drawn daily. She has internalized her trauma remarkably well, but from an emotional standpoint she is the most fragile of the siblings until at least their thirties. Her human interaction was minimal- As it became clear she could not really control her power and use it to shield others, the chance that she would ever be useful on a mission went down, and efforts to socialize and educate her also dwindled. The āreal worldā is overwhelming to her, but the alternative is so much worse and she has forced herself to adapt. Part of the reason she eventually starts the Gray Foundation is to provide a haven for herself, not just for others. Despite her rocky start and precarious adjustment, I believe Dinah ends up being the most emotionally mature of the siblings as they age. She accepts what happened to her and is able to move on in a way neither Abe nor Sadie really achieve. (Though again, this is mostly only relevant for my own purposes and the Funeral RP)
Sadie: Like her body, Sadieās high-energy attitude seems to be undamagable. She is constantly furious about the injustices of the world, and constantly willing to fight against them. Sheās also always ready to enjoy herself- After their escape, it is Sadie who embodies ālive life to the fullestā and tries anything and everything she can get her hands on. She considers herself āthe oldestā, and even in her worst moments believes that confidence and determination will see her through. Sadie was the most prone to escape attempts, constantly fighting any restraint she was given. At times she was locked down so tightly she could not move at all, so she would be unable to create any momentum. As she got older, the threats to Dinah became more serious and Sadie became more obedient, and even went on missions, though she was rarely allowed to go out with Abe. As a young kid she had enjoyed these experiences because she hadnāt really understood them, and as a teen she appreciated the ability to learn more about the world and to tell Dinah about it. Sadie would be angry to hear she is not as protective of Dinah as Abe, but it cannot be denied that Sadie was far more willing to gamble with Dinahās safety, as well as Abeās and her own to see what limits could be tested. Even as SAFEGuard superhero, Sadie tends to be reckless, though she does learn to limit potential consequences to herself only. Sadie takes on theĀ ābig sisterā role to pretty much anyone who needs it- or doesnāt- and is often assigned to guard new recruits or potentially recruitable prisoners because of this attitude, and of course, her ability to survive anything short of a nuclear bomb. (Sheās pretty sure she could, though, if needed. Abe wonāt let her test that though.)
