Repost from @wellwateredwomen • Yesterday I collapsed on my bed and picked up my phone to scroll. Deep down, I knew I was trying to escape my weariness, weakness, and worn-out reality. But as I opened the Instagram app, this reminder reoriented my heart:⁠ ⁠ True rest is not found in scrolling social media; it’s found in surrendering in the embrace of my Savior (Matt. 11:28).⁠ ⁠ I needed true rest, something my phone can't provide. The kind of rest that only comes from finding my identity in Christ, not fixating on the identity of others online. Scrolling is an escape, but surrender is an entrance into restorative, gospel rest.⁠ ⁠ Though it may feel uncomfortable to lay aside my phone to draw near to Jesus through prayer when I want to zone out, I never regret coming to Christ in surrender. As Elisabeth Elliot once said, “One does not surrender a life in an instant. That which is lifelong can only be surrendered in a lifetime.”⁠ ⁠ Scrolling can't save us from exhaustion or restore us from weariness, but drawing near to our God, who sits enthroned and has all strength and grace for every moment of the day, can (Heb. 4:16). ⁠ ⁠ Rest in him, friend. Excuse the look on my face. In a little pain. Broke two ribs the other day. Diantre! 🥴A little pain. ⛷️ But I wanted to say that when people have wrong motives in pursuit of a goal it can be quite detrimental for them and everyone around them. But, honestly, especially for them. Nothing pains me more than seeing folks or introducing them to a platform they weren’t ready for. This is why First Century Writer Paul wrote, “Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.” (1Tim 5:22). This is addressed to the person with the control of that other person’s welfare and upbringing. In other words, if it’s in your power to promote someone make sure they are thoroughly equipped and ready for that very thing they want to do. Sometimes we get overanxious and desperate in what we want to accomplish that we’ll use anyone for the objective. But remember that everything gained in haste will NOT PROSPER in the end, but whoever gathers little by little will increase.” (Prov. 13:11). The right developmental process is more important for the long run. Giving someone power prematurely is like giving a dangerous toy to a kid. Remember to give people time to grow. Think about them more than your own agenda. This is one way of walking in love. An important one too. We should always DREAM BIG, but build small. Paul also reminds us not to put a novice in service to others because they can easily be puffed up with pride and fall into the condemnation of the devil. (1Tim 3:6). A novice is a person who is new or a beginner in his or her field. Someone inexperienced. Care enough for people to let them grow. Provide the adequate environment for them to do so. We grow brave when hearts get mingled in celebrating each other. Love is that tangible expression in words and deeds. I marvel how dropping some red food coloring into a pancake batter bowl can make kids wide-eyed with glee! Or how a simple piece of water color paper with a few hearts dabbled on a page with the words written multiplied grace and peace be yours can settle in so deep. . It doesn’t take money, it is simply a willingness to express yourself to someone you know needs to hear those words. . Reposted from @wellwateredwomen I blame my deepening forehead wrinkles on my wild eyebrows.⁠ ⁠ I blame my softening chin on those extra pounds from the surgery I had last year.⁠ ⁠ I blame the dark circles under each eye on not taking five minutes to apply even an ounce of makeup this morning.⁠ ⁠ I blame my forgetful brain on the number of tasks I have at work.⁠ ⁠ I blame my eagerness to avoid all mention of my upcoming birthday on my spiritual maturity—I don't need anything this year, don't even mention it.⁠ ⁠ But my blame game is covering up the ache of my heart. Another year older, another year closer to the day when someone will look at me and say, "You can tell she was beautiful when she was young."⁠ ⁠ And while I am so much more than the sum of my physical appearance and abilities, I know too that I am an embodied soul. These wrinkles and sags and drying skin and forgotten memories are all some part of my identity. We win - whatever it takes

Given the Avengers End Game was so beautiful and I was able to watch it two times for free, I'm so thankful.

This new journey I am dealing with, I'm fearful yet excited at the same time. I've lived in fear for a while now and I know I have to face them.

Whatever it takes I know that I win because it was all done in the cross. It is done. All efforts, plans, and experiences I am to take journey on, I know I am not alone.
