I know this is the Anti Small Talk Website but small talk is one of the most effective social glues out there for getting to know people and forming friendships with them.
When I was just starting out at a job right after college I had a coworker who I thought was the nicest person alive and after a few weeks I realized this was just because she consistently asked other people things like, "How ya doing? Whatcha having for lunch? Got any weekend plans? Seen any good movies lately?" instead of politely ignoring everyone around her.

the rise of AI art isn't surprising to us. for our entire lives, the attitude towards our skills has always been - that's not a real thing. it has been consistently, repeatedly devalued.
people treat art - all forms of it - as if it could exist by accident, by rote. they don't understand how much art is in the world. someone designed your home. someone designed the sign inside of your local grocery store. when you quote a character or line from something in media, that's a line a real person wrote.
"i could do that." sure, but you didn't. there's this joke where a plumber comes over to a house and twists a single knob. charges the guy 10k. the guy, furious, asks how the hell the bill is so high. the plumber says - "turning the knob was a dollar. the knowledge is the rest of the money."
the trouble is that nobody believes artists have knowledge. that we actively study. that we work hard, beyond doing our scales and occasionally writing a poem. the trouble is that unless you are already framed in a museum or have a book on a shelf or some kind of product, you aren't really an artist. hell, because of where i post my work, i'll never be considered a poet.
the thing that makes you an artist is choice. the thing that makes all art is choice. AI art is the fetid belief that art is instead an equation. that it must answer a specific question. Even with machine learning, AI cannot make a choice the way we can - because the choices we make have always been personal, complicated. our skills cannot be confined to "prompt and execution." what we are "solving" isn't just a system of numbers - it is how we process our entire existence. it isn't just "2 and 2 is 4", it's staring hard at the numbers and making the four into an alligator. it's rearranging the letters to say ow and it is the ugly drawing we make in the margin.
at some point, you will be able to write something by feeding my work into a machine. it will be perfectly legible and even might sound like me. but a machine doesn't understand why i do these things. it can be taught preferences, habits, statistical probability. it doesn't know why certain vowels sound good to me. it doesn't know the private rules i keep. it doesn't know how to keep evolving.
"but i want something to exist that doesn't exist yet." great. i'm glad you feel creative. go ahead and pay a fucking artist for it.
this is all saying something we all already knew. the sad fucking truth: we have to die to remind you. only when we're gone do we suddenly finally fucking mean something to you. artists are not replicable. we each genuinely have a skill, talent, and process that makes us unique. and there's actual quiet power in everything we do.

Something I like about Leo is that he’s honestly really chill? It’s easy to remember the moments where he’s being obnoxious or excitable but I feel like most of the time he’s incredibly “go with the flow” and has an overall affable demeanor.

Like two days ago I had a few vodka cocktails and I got super emotional about a guy who's just words on a page and my own imagination and i filled out an entire sketch book page with just Artemis Entreri

So I had to help back up a large trailer so, naturally I realized how Bruce would not do this with his kids under any circumstances. And for Bruce, a rich city kid none the less with probably no idea how to back up a trailer, would need a few spotters.
To clarify, I mean Bruce asking any of his kids to help him would end a little like this.
Jason: You are too close. You are going to hit something.
Bruce stopping the car and getting out to check: I have two feet of clearance.
Jason: I know. that is too close. you are going to hit Alfred's roses. Do you want to deal with the consequences of that?
Damian: Todd you are wrong. This is enough distance to clear it passably. You just want to insult Father, you heathen.
Tim: Actually you are both wrong. If you looked on the other side you would know that you have about two more inched until you run over a tree.
Bruce: And why did you not say this earlier?
Tim: eh closer calls have come out fine.
Bruce: ... Dick can you help?
Dick: Personally I just think we should call Clark. I said this when we started.
.....they called Clark Kent, Superman, and urgently called him from work to ...help back up a trailer. (I mean it could have ended worse due to the nature of the bat family but Clark was certainly amused)

Some life advice nobody told me that I’ve slowly gathered through navigating the adult world;
If you go out to eat, tip in cash. 100% of that money goes to the server if it’s a worthwhile establishment, whereas a portion of a card tip goes to the business owners.
You don’t owe your bosses anything that’s not in your contract. They will try to get more out of you than you’re paid for—don’t give it to them. Even if they try to guilt you over it.
If you can’t muster up the energy to take care of yourself, whether through work fatigue or depression, at least brush your teeth. That is the most expensive part of hygiene to fix/replace. Everything else can wait if you can’t manage it at the moment.
That said, a shower is Temporary Depression Eraser. It’s kind of incredible how well it works to help you feel better, even if it’s a lot of spoons.
Go out in the sun. It’s so dumb and small but human minds become a very not okay place to be if you don’t get your daily sunlight. Seasonally Affected Disorder is very real and stupid but it’s easily treatable. If you live in a climate without a lot of sun, they make lamps that emit the same rays to compensate.
Don’t feel bad for eating bread. Carbs are important and actually encouraged as long as it’s not the only thing you eat.
Vote in your local elections. Your voice will matter way more in those than anywhere else. They don’t tell you this because it’s true.
Don’t put stock in any bad thoughts you have after 8-9 pm. Again, so stupid but it’s a very real thing.
Kindness goes a long, long way. Even little things like ‘I like your shirt”. I promise you it makes a difference.
Eat at least one vegetable a day to keep your levels stable. The human body is a temperamental little bitch that makes everything Horrible Forever unless you eat a vegetable.
Hold landlords accountable. If you’re paying them an arm and a leg to live somewhere, they can fix your fucking boiler. It’s part of their contract as a homeowner if they’re renting to someone.

Can we talk about how ACCURATE Rita Repulsa's aim is? She is javelin throwing a staff from the surface of the moon to wherever on Earth the Ranger battle is happening and, without fail, would hit close enough for the staff's magic to make the monster of the week go kaiju-sized? She would've probably killed it in the interstellar track & field competitions! 🤣

I know it was meant to be a joke, but it kind of breaks my heart that S2 Jamie thinks the best way to make friends is to buy all his teammates PS5s. The way his logoc
Like he really thinks his likeability is tied to his talent, money and looks. The way he says what better thing to spend money on than love just screams to me low self value.
I really think he struggled to make friends his whole life and most of the people who came in his life like him for his talent, star potential and what he could do for them.
Which means when Zava comes along in season 3 he probably legit thought he was going to lose all his friends. Now, they didn't need him on the pitch. So now I just want to give him a great big hug.
His S3 storyline really helps him learn what true friendship is.
