Issues with watching GH

If you want to watch the episodes of someone who hasn't been in there in Seasons, all you have to rely on are videos on YouTube. And I have seen every video they have on there for the Rivera twins (it's a bit limited and I know they left out a lot). Searched up Griffin Munro because I need a photo for something and this popped up.

Hello this is a great chance to talk about a story I love to tell: The Dunnes Stores Strikers.

I’m the 80’s Irish unions ( The IDATU ) voted to protest the apartheid regime in South Africa. Stores across the whole country were made aware that union workers wouldn’t be handling/selling any South African goods or produce. Most stores/management were okay with this and allowed its workers to implement the ban.

Except Dunnes store on Henry street Dublin.

Mary Manning, a young girl working at the till, followed her unions directive and refused to sell a South African Grapefruit. She was told by management to leave. Her floor supervisor, a woman named Karen Gearon, ordered a full walk out on the spot in solidarity.

The two of them aswell as other workers;

Liz Deasy, Michelle Gavin, Vonnie Munroe, Alma Russll, Sandra Griffin, Theresa Mooney, Cathryn O’Reilly and Tommy Davis. With Union representative Brendan Barron.

spent just over 2 years on strike, working against Dunnes and it’s selling of South African produce. They protested along side a refugee from the apartheid named Nimrod Sejake and for 2 years they spent every morning outside of Dunnes store, holding up the picket and encouraging people to boycott the store until they stopped selling the produce.

They were invited to go to South Africa by Desmond Tutu to see the situation with their own eyes, however the government treated them with extreme hostility and were forced to leave the country after being held within the airport with guns for hours.

They were so dedicated that Vonnie Monroe even chose to loose her house rather then break the picket like a judge had suggested.

Their strike lead to a nation wide ban and the creation of new laws. It contributed to the end of the regime, they were even recognised by Nelson Mandela who said “ordinary people far away from the crucible of apartheid cared for our freedom”.

There is even now a street in Johannasburg named after Mary manning and a Plaque on Henry Street seared by President Thabo Mbeki.

The Irish stand against apartheid and always will.

The masked stranger she met the night months ago had found her, mask, cape and all, keeping herself at a distance to save someone from being mugged. 

And that they say is all she wrote.

Balancing the life of a barista and vigilante is like balancing the life of a wizard and thief, it takes one to learn, two to help.

Her closest friend is the lovely Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Ororo Munroe (Storm) and Scott Summers (Cyclops) being the ones Fauna would ask advice from. Her powers manifested into something more when she was at home, watching her youngest niece when upon seeing a picture of a unicorn she sprouted a horn on her head.

Her sister managed to calm her before she underwent a full transformation in front of her daughter but this sparked a whole new set of rules for Fauna’s Powers. Under the name Mythic she trained herself to control this new aspect of her powers in regards to mythical creatures(that certainly do exist) and with this new manifestation, she gained one final attribute.

Healing. The soothing salve to cure wounds, to bring one almost back from death.

Welp, time to finally face this post and submit it. I'm kind of embarrassed because I am so bad at reading anymore. No explanation, no excuses. I used to read twice this many books as a matter of course, and now I ... like, don't. My TBR barely budged ... I’d read the first ten or so issues of this before, out of interest because I watched the animated series on MTV. This is the first time all the way through and I didn’t realize it was so dark and triggering.

I read this one when mine was a toddler, and remembered it being pretty patriarchal and victorian. Thought maybe it would hit different now that she’s actually teenaged, and ... like, it did! it’s even worse! Absolutely zero of this shit fits a kid who is not 100% straight and searching. I got through four essays and took it back to the library.

I got up through the Bs and then I LOST MY COPY.

The more I read of this, the more I realized I maybe only read the first couple chapters. Still keeping the italics (making up for claiming I never previously read The Maxx).

I subbed a middle school reading class where this was the text. Ended up reading the whole thing across the day.

This could be the last new book I ever read to my own children. We generally don't read to sleep during holiday breaks, instead allowing them to fall asleep in front of a TV. But when school restarted, my youngest (officially a teenager) didn't want me to read to him at bedtime anymore. The end of an era. I may have cried a little bit. I expect the Dave Barry on Christmas Eve tradition to continue at least another year (my oldest likes it and specifically requested it again), but maybe no more new ones.

I absolutely refuse to believe that Carlos is dead. Why? Because if he can fake being shot five times by Anna Devane, what is to stop him from faking his death again?
