id be very interested in any post of yours on the vale/jorge dynamic!!! and as a marc fan first human second i think this would also shed more light on how exactly 2015 became what it did… vale is, as we know, very bad at forgetting and extremely bad at forgiving
(this post is now posted) I do still have a few more open-ended asks in my inbox about this rivalry that I'll get to at some point, but I just wanted to quickly have a crack at this one specifically. you can kindaaaa read between the lines of the post I linked to if you want to know where I stand on this issue, but I don't say it explicitly and I might as well actually do that lol. and my stance on 2015 is that the valentino/jorge rivalry... really does not feature all that heavily. absurdly little, given they are the ones having an actual title fight. they retroactively remember to get mad at each other once all the drama has actually happened - and then suddenly you do get their history worm its way through the cracks. like, actually 2016 is way more interesting for their interpersonal relationship than 2015 is!! but 2015 is... well, it's just not that relevant. by valentino standards, you don't even really get the sense he's motivating himself through the power of spite or anything. he literally just wants his tenth - jorge being his title rival is only relevant insofar as that's his teammate
I don't actually think the maxim of valentino being bad at forgetting and forgiving really holds in this specific relationship. I've banged on about this distinction a few times by now, but to me there really is a substantial and noticeable difference between how valentino approaches the marc/sete rivalries and the way biaggi + casey/jorge get treated. the former camp involves rivals valentino was friends with, blokes he was genuinely fond of on an interpersonal level before they really butted heads competitively - and as a result there's a relationship to burn down. as a result, valentino is hurt by what happens. that's the basic precondition valentino needs not to forgive and forget: he needs to feel like a friendship has been betrayed. with jorge, there's none of that! they never had anything remotely like a close relationship with each other; if anything it's a fair bit colder than the casey dynamic is pre-2007. which means there's really nothing to forgive and forget! valentino gets over the entire 2008-10 dramatics comically quickly... like there's still a bit of needle in 2011 but once he realises there's no real competitive justification, he just kinda goes *shrug* eh, whatever. he's still bickering with casey in 2012, but those two did seemingly get a weird kick out of their squabbling and valentino also dropped that completely around mid-2013 (casey ofc did Not). like these people said some nasty shit about each other... but with both jorge and casey, valentino is extremely willing to drop it when he doesn't really think there's a point any more. as a result, valentino and jorge get on better in valentino's ducati years! it'd really only been a brief period where they're properly at war - but that period is so memorable it's how that teammate relationship gets remembered these days
basically what I said in the jorge/valentino post:
and this maybe deserves a more in-depth post... but of course it's worth pointing out that in their second teammate stint, they once again take their sweet time getting to the actual drama. 2013 they're being perfectly cooperative and honda's cute little internal war is hogging all the headlines, 2014 is basically fine with a bit of corporate espionage for flavour - hell, even 2015 is okay until, like, the very end. they're asked about their relationship every single week that year, to the point where valentino starts making gags about how him and jorge have been keeping relationship diaries and will release them at the end of the year. (drop the diaries, kings.) there's also a very sweet 'ooh you've learned so much from valentino' jorge moment that very much thematically follows on from the 2008-10 post:
Lorenzo explained an incident where, ahead of the season-finale race in Valencia, he approached a journalist to request a specific question was asked to irritate Rossi. "At the airport I told her that at the press conference she had to ask me if Valentino deserved the title,” Lorenzo said. “For me it would not have been deserved. I wanted to put pressure on him to feel inferior. “I also created that rivalry through the press."
which... good on you, jorge, but. what. and also... why
point is, even in their actual title fight in 2015, a bunch of different factors conspire to ensure that valentino is focused more on marc than he is on jorge. one big, big reason is that valentino + jorge basically never actually cross paths on track that whole year for more than like, a minute, which is one of the things that made that season so funky. it's maybe a little unsatisfying to go 'that long post I wrote isn't actually super relevant as backstory' and it doesn't not matter, but in a way the really interesting bit is... you'd kinda think it'd matter MORE. their history should be more relevant than it is to this story!! it's weird that it played such a small role! and, again, it does come back into the picture in 2016... they were proper mad with each other then! I reckon they did get to the point where they even managed to hurt each other, where that was something reciprocal! which is fun and compelling, but even there they do manage to mostly Get Over It at some point that very same year. in the end... despite all this history, despite this intense three year stint as teammates the first time round - somehow we ended up with another title fight between the pair of them with a super controversial finish but that interpersonal relationship is very nearly irrelevant. quirky innit
#y'know there really is a remarkable lack of faffing about from valentino and jorge until they're literally like 95% of the way there#big big contrast to 2009. truly on their best behaviour#valentino spent so much of that season going I Will Not Do Drama I Just Want My Tenth and then went. well hm anyways#//#brr brr#batsplat responds#the POST QUALIFYInG PRESSER in valencia... jorge buddy i think valentino had other stuff on his mind saturday evening#he's so sweet like it's very much the bull in a china shop of psychological warfare#zero subtlety. don't you think it's a little late in the day to attempt to make him feel inferior. he's starting at the back of the grid#that year it's kinda revealing how valentino pulls back from marc and starts talking *more* to jorge#super easy tell where his emotional investment is there. like huh interesting where the defence mechanisms are kicking in#that odd disconnect between The Literal Title Fight and the title fight *by vibes* was there the whole year. that's the set up for sepang#idol tag#wall tag

okay, this might sound a little weird, but you know the disney short with the paper airplanes and one of them has a lipstick stain on it? your aesthetic is the woman in that short movie. she’s a smart dresser, she wears her hair loose but nicely brushed, and she wears really standout bright lipstick. also, I wanted to say that I love your travel photos! do you have a favorite type of photo to take? like landscape, food, people, streets, etc?
i know the exact short you mean and i loooove her aesthetic so this is super flattering anon 🥰
also—thank you so much!! i'm so happy to hear you like my travel photos. i'm not big on buying souvenirs or knick knacks or whatever, so usually my go to memento is photos. honestly, i love taking photos? and i have since i was a kid but i never really got the opportunity to do much with that interest other than a random semester in high school were i was in yearbook class. i was talking with my brother about this during our trip and he said he'd be willing to let me borrow his canon for a week so i could play around with it and decide if i want to invest in my own camera. i'm honestly super excited for the chance!
in terms of favorite thing to photograph, i think i tend to be most into photographing architecture/streets and nature/landscape. part of that is probably just bc i'm such a novice and those are easy things to keep still and frame out without being worried about losing the shot lol.
✨tell me my aesthetic on anon✨
#ask#anonymous#in terms of social media that i am weirdly invested in i do post a lot on my IG stories when traveling#i cross post all the official photos that i post on my grid#but if anyone's interested in following me on IG and seeing my stories when i'm traveling seriously feel free#my IG is katbain#my IG is mostly just travel photos now#though i won't be doing any serious travel this summer after this last trip#other than going to SC to visit my parents#but this fall it sounds like i'll be back in india in sept#and it sounds like i'm going to be doing some travel in asia in october and novembe?#nothing official yet but it sounds like i might get to go back to kathmandu for the first time since high school#and also bangladesh + taiwan + south korea + indonesia#those last 3 are v much still up in the air 'maybes' atm#(fyi my IG is a private account but unless you seem obviously spam i'll accept)

ed zitron, a tech beat reporter, wrote an article about a recent paper that came out from goldman-sachs calling AI, in nicer terms, a grift. it is a really interesting article; hearing criticism from people who are not ignorant of the tech and have no reason to mince words is refreshing. it also brings up points and asks the right questions:
if AI is going to be a trillion dollar investment, what trillion dollar problem is it solving?
what does it mean when people say that AI will "get better"? what does that look like and how would it even be achieved? the article makes a point to debunk talking points about how all tech is misunderstood at first by pointing out that the tech it gets compared to the most, the internet and smartphones, were both created over the course of decades with roadmaps and clear goals. AI does not have this.
the american power grid straight up cannot handle the load required to run AI because it has not been meaningfully developed in decades. how are they going to overcome this hurdle (they aren't)?
people who are losing their jobs to this tech aren't being "replaced". they're just getting a taste of how little their managers care about their craft and how little they think of their consumer base. ai is not capable of replacing humans and there's no indication they ever will because...
all of these models use the same training data so now they're all giving the same wrong answers in the same voice. without massive and i mean EXPONENTIALLY MASSIVE troves of data to work with, they are pretty much as a standstill for any innovation they're imagining in their heads

Pescadero, Mexico Real Estate: A Growing Investment Opportunity in a Coastal Paradise
Credit: Image by dimitrisvetsikas1969 | Pixabay
Pescadero, Mexico Real Estate: A Rich Agricultural History
Pescadero is a small and unknown mass-travel town on the Pacific Ocean of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur and an agricultural hub. Initially created by Jesuit missionaries in 1724, this little-known place has gradually grown into a rather promising area for real estate development for those who desire silence, fresh air, and scenery.
It also belongs to the category of popular tourist attractions. From beachfront homes and investments to elegant villas, Pescadero, Mexico, Real Estate has emerged as a potential holiday destination and a residential area.
Most towns are still pervasively agricultural; agriculture is the foundation of Pescadero's transformation to modernity.
At the start of the 18th century, the Jesuit padres offered religious, social, and administrative organizations that observed the rich soil and massive water channels from the mountains, making the region an ideal place for developing as a significant agricultural production center.
The Jesuits took advantage of the aquifer, which supplied water underground. This water was used to nurture crops and cultivate farmland, making the region a food basket for neighboring establishments.
Farming has continuously been an essential part of Pescadero even to date. Today, you can witness great plains of chili and basil, which play a crucial role in making this region one of the most productive in the country.
Due to its moderate climate, relatively low temperatures, and the effect of ocean proximity, these crops can indeed grow. Hence, you get the bang of cultivated agricultural fields against arid, exposed coastal regions.
But it isn't just an agricultural hub—over recent years, people have flocked to the region because of its beautiful landscape and laid-back attitude.
A Coastal Retreat with Proximity to Tourist Hotspots
With several other land features and tourist attractions in Baja California Sur nearby, Pescadero remains one of the attraction's favorites.
Only an hour's drive north of Cabo San Lucas or ten minutes from the artistic town of Todos Santos, Pescadero offers serenity without isolation.
Cabo San Lucas is one of Baja's most popular destinations, featuring a thriving nightlife, new hotel chains, fishing and marine activities, the new marina, and many more. At the same time, Todos Santos has an artsy village, galleries, restaurants, art festivals, and the like.
This central position makes Pescadero particularly desirable for those who want to escape a larger city's small and crowded atmosphere but still be near such places. This is not surprising given the importance placed on Quality of life, and anything that comes with it is much sought after.
Pescadero remained a secret for a while, but nowadays, many families are interested in the real estate properties being offered in this town.
Whether the client wants to live in the countryside with beautiful farmlands around it or wants a new stylish villa that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, Pescadero has every listing.
Ocean-View Properties
A distinctive aspect of the community is the large number of houses with an ocean view of Pescadero.
Prospects can see areas with magnificent sea views of the Pacific Ocean on the Coast and Sites, and potential buyers can purchase spacious territories for the same prices as the coastal plots. Most are situated on pretty steep hillsides, and each homesite offers panoramic ocean views and the spectacular landscape of the Baja Peninsula.
These oceanfront lots are desirable because many homebuyers want to build new homes or develop second homes, such as beach cottages or small hotels that benefit from the island's expanding tourism sector.
Since Pescadero is surrounded by beautiful scenery and experiences fairly good weather every day and night, people have been pushed to own holiday homes or use them for short-term rentals, which has been a good business for those who invest in that.
Luxurious Villas and Private Residences
More recently, new villas and private houses with clear elements of modern Mexican architecture have been built. Many of these homes boast intricate designs like Mexican tiles, finely crafted furniture, and sundial murals that depict the culture of the Mexican community.
Almost all properties are created with an emphasis on that all-important outside space, with large terraces, astonishing infinity pools, and impressive gardens, all enjoying the excellent Mediterranean climate all year round.
For those who seek solitude and anonymity, big houses boast solitude and seclusion and can be nestled right in the greens of Pescadero, often surrounded by rolling farms. These private residences are perfect for those who want to escape the noise of the city while being surrounded by the stunning nature and attractions of Baja California Sur.
Agricultural Properties
Pescadero also offers the chance to purchase farmland for people who want to invest in farming or buyers who love to be associated with sustainable living.
Due to its being primarily an agricultural state, there is still ample space to cultivate everything from vegetables to herbs and flowers.
Many investors are looking into visiting farmer activities where farming and hospitality are interwoven to give visitors an experience of how agriculture is conducted.
The Allure of Pescadero's Lifestyle
In addition to its real estate portfolio, Pescadero may be most unique as a place to live. She said it is a community where people live relaxed, amid nature, and with their fellow citizens.
Most places in the region are fluently developed and adaptable; therefore, they are ideal for retirement, working from home, or even as a place for a comfortable family environment.
Beaches near the area, including the Playa Los Cerritos, are ideal for surfing, swimming, or sunbathing near the beach.
Anyone interested in adventure can hike to some of the several trails in the region, practice surfing, or visit any of the wildlife reserves. Further, Pescadero lies astride the Tropic of Cancer, so the regional climate is temperate, with ocean air helping to economize on temperatures during the summer season.
Why Invest in Pescadero Real Estate?
Pescadero is at the right age to enjoy real estate growth since it is surrounded by scenic beauty, agricultural land, and nearby famous tourist attraction centers from the Mexican side and international countries. Right now, the islands are still significantly cheaper than, for instance, Cabo San Lucas, so it is still possible to buy property before the prices rise even higher.
Furthermore, the demand for vacation lets and environmentally conscious products brought the possibility of long-term sustainable development to the progressive community of Pescadero.

Hi! I'm kind of curious about your thoughts on which team will pick up Acosta if KTM pull out MotoGP or if any team will.
as I understand it, still quite a likely option they're in the sport for 2025 and even 2026 albeit with paused development of the bike, but they might be fucked to develop the bike for the next regs. if that's the case, I think acosta will want to be jumping ship for 2026 - which is also obviously ahead of schedule but gives him time to scout out his options. if they DO withdraw tomorrow... idk man, could be rough! wonder how tight miller's pramac contract is
if acosta still has some time, well. it kind of depends on a bunch of things we don't yet know. in some ways, the most obvious choice is honda: the only ones with a factory seat theoretically available in 2026 and the manufacturer that's currently lacking an obvious 'superstar'. the problem is that they're honda. for that to look like a remotely attractive option, honda needs to make a serious step over the off-season and... well, idk, nothing I've seen over the past few months inspires all that much confidence. maybe they can show acosta some banger 850cc engine plans. the second most obvious choice feels is yamaha, where even without any breaking contracts you do have a pramac seat on offer for 2026 that would presumably get full factory support. yamaha's trajectory has been vaguely promising and, while they clearly have full faith in fabio, pedro's kinda too good to not want him if he's literally right there to be taken. in some ways, fabio is the superstar you're least likely to displace - he's younger than the other non-pedro riders of that calibre (martin, bagnaia, marquez) and he's basically the only thing yamaha have had going with them since 2021. that kind of thing creates a special bond... fabio is essential to yamaha. would be interesting to see how that particular intra-manufacturer/team dynamic would develop lol
aprilia feels the least likely option. they don't exactly have much money to be throwing around, especially since there'd have to be some contract breaking to get rid of one of their current riders to get rid of him. also not personally who I'd bet on to develop a stunning 2027 bike, cf the money point. and then... well, there's ducati. theoretically there is a vr46 seat becoming available in 2026, which... hm, obviously a bit of a complicated situation. idk, this one also heavily depends on certain ducati riders' performances next year! theoretically ducati are kind of sorted for the next few years with this line-up - and theoretically dall'igna has reiterated his faith in aldeguer's ultimate potential, who is still seemingly their longer-term bet. but also, ducati said before this year they had no particular interest in marc - and, well, they didn't need him, but clearly they did want him. and they didn't want their rivals to have him. if acosta continues to look like the next big thing - and given that ducati knows they surely won't be this dominant forever - it would make a lot of sense to poach him while they have the chance. at the very least they can offer him a bike he can win races on tomorrow. acosta I think would prefer to have a manufacturer oriented around him, and would be wary of the lack of an obvious path to the factory team... but well, if that path could open up for anyone, it's him. marc's old and god knows what state his body will be in two years from now, pecco will be pushing thirty, and one of them might take at least a bit of a hit to their stonks in the next couple of years. if you can trust in anything when it comes to ducati, it's that you can't trust them. even by manufacturer standards they're a ruthless bunch - and depending on what everyone's results are looking like in the first half of 2025, I wouldn't put it past them to offer pedro a satellite seat for one year with the guarantee he'd get a factory seat in the following one
my personal vibes-based pick right now for where he ends up is yamaha, but that might be because I've sniffed insane amounts of hopium and have decided yamaha's situation doesn't look All That Bad right now. this is a complete vibes thing and I'm aware pedro will be guided by competitive logic first and foremost, but I just feel pedro would prefer not to go for ducati if there's a plausible alternative. again, honda would make a lot of sense, but they NEED to at least start getting their shit together. aprilia just doesn't really work. so, yamaha. (also, I reckon manufacturers really wouldn't want to give him a one year option while he waits to see how the chips might fall for 2027 - if they have to fuck about with their line-up, they kinda want to lock this guy down.) but also obviously all of this is extremely extremely pointless speculation!! it's just a lil thought experiment, idk any more than you do, god knows how any of this will pan out
#i just. cannot imagine he'd be allowed to fall off the grid. not that guy#yamaha at least showed with the fabio signing they do have some money to burn. if it comes to it#also surely dorna must be extremely invested in ensuring he sticks around#//#brr brr#current tag#batsplat responds#did a quick search on my blog and first mention of ktm financial trouble was mid august#which i think *was* the time of the first public murmurings about it. obviously well after acosta's signing... wonder when he first heard

Biden Administration Allocates $1.5 Billion for Electric Power Projects
The Biden administration has announced a significant investment of $1.5 billion aimed at enhancing electric power infrastructure across several states, including a crucial interconnection for Texas's isolated power grid. This initiative, unveiled on Thursday, is designed to improve grid reliability and expand energy access.
The four projects collectively aim to add 7,100 megawatts of new electric power capacity in states such as Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas—enough energy to power over 710 million LED light bulbs.
A standout project will establish a connection between the isolated Texas grid and the power markets in the Southeastern United States. This interconnection gained prominence following the devastating Winter Storm Uri in 2021, which led to extensive power outages and resulted in numerous fatalities. Research has indicated that linking Texas to the national grid could have mitigated some of these blackouts.
The Biden administration has emphasized the importance of transmission lines as a solution to the climate crisis, noting that many renewable energy projects face challenges in connecting to the grid. White House adviser John Podesta stated, "When President Biden and Vice President Harris took office, they set out a vision to tackle the climate crisis and power the economy with clean electricity. In order to get there, we need to more than double our current transmission capacity."
Funding for these projects is sourced from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and follows three other initiatives previously announced under the same transmission program.
Among the other projects included in this investment is the construction of a new power substation in Haynesville, Maine, along with a 111-mile power line that will connect it to the wider New England grid. Additionally, a project will facilitate the integration of wind and solar energy in eastern Oklahoma, while another will span New Mexico, supporting the area's semiconductor, battery manufacturing industries, and data centers.

The economic indicators speak of nothing less than an economic catastrophe. Over 46,000 businesses have gone bankrupt, tourism has stopped, Israel’s credit rating was lowered, Israeli bonds are sold at the prices of almost “junk bonds” levels, and the foreign investments that have already dropped by 60% in the first quarter of 2023 (as a result of the policies of Israel’s far-right government before October 7) show no prospects of recovery. The majority of the money invested in Israeli investment funds was diverted to investments abroad because Israelis do not want their own pension funds and insurance funds or their own savings to be tied to the fate of the State of Israel. This has caused a surprising stability in the Israeli stock market because funds invested in foreign stocks and bonds generated profit in foreign currency, which was multiplied by the rise in the exchange rate between foreign currencies and the Israeli Shekel. But then Intel scuttled a $25 billion investment plan in Israel, the biggest BDS victory ever. These are all financial indicators. But the crisis strikes deeper at the means of production of the Israeli economy. Israel’s power grid, which has largely switched to natural gas, still depends on coal to supply demand. The biggest supplier of coal to Israel is Colombia, which announced that it would suspend coal shipments to Israel as long as the genocide was ongoing. After Colombia, the next two biggest suppliers are South Africa and Russia. Without reliable and continuous electricity, Israel will no longer be able to pretend to be a developed economy. Server farms do not work without 24-hour power, and no one knows how many blackouts the Israeli high-tech sector could potentially survive. International tech companies have already started closing their branches in Israel. Israel’s reputation as a “startup nation” depends on its tech sector, which in turn depends on highly educated employees. Israeli academics report that joint research with universities abroad has declined sharply thanks to the efforts of student encampments. Israeli newspapers are full of articles about the exodus of educated Israelis. Prof. Dan Ben David, a famous economist, argued that the Israeli economy is held together by 300,000 people (the senior staff in universities, tech companies, and hospitals). Once a significant portion of these people leaves, he says, “We won’t become a third world country, we just won’t be anymore.”
