So who is Hybrid?

DISCLAIMER again! These are just my thoughts and theories, please do comment with your own ideas, it would be so helpful in figuring out the story Christian is telling.

From what I saw on Christian's Insta live and the music video for LIMBO, it looks like Hybrid is most likely the in-between of Mito and Insanity. The transition from one character to the next. Christian did outright say this in his live, but it is interesting the way he depicts the change in LIMBO's music video.

In the first scene of the mv we see a shirtless character, and from what I know and in my opinion I believe this is Hybrid. It switches scenes rapidly but in them I believe we see a shot of Mito as well. The character that seems to be Hybrid wears a striped suit with a red or purple tie, which I think would tie Mito and Insanity together. You can also see faint makeup that resembles Insanity's. The scenes constantly switch between color and monotone, which would also resemble both characters. I haven't yet noticed Mito's signature grey eye, but there is a scene in which we see the character's eyes change between orange and blue. I'm still pondering over what that could mean, but right now it also seems to tie into the transition between the characters.

I also found it interesting when the outfit slowly switches from plain black, to a black suit with purple or red. We know that Mito is mostly dark colors and Insanity is the complete opposite of that - him having many bright colors to his outfit and makeup, but the most noticeable color is the purple suit.

Christian made an important point in one of his lives, saying that the wolf is very symbolic to Insanity. I found it interesting that a verse of the lyrics is "throw me to the wolves, it's where I belong". Also, at 2:03 in the music video we can hear a wolf's howl. This sets off a scene of chaos in the room, papers are thrown and the character seems to be struggling or fighting something. I think that this point is the beginning of the transition to Insanity. It would make sense for it to look painful and for Mito/Hybrid to put up a fight as they go more insane.

The end of the music video is what caught my eye the most. There is a change from Hybrid to Insanity, as he sits on the bed looking at his hands. This is the exact scene from the Don't Go Insane music video, which leads me to believe that this song/album (since we don't know how many songs will be released or how many of them will pertain to Hybrid) is a prequel to Dear Insanity.

The end scene for LIMBO is the beginning (after the initial credits) of Don't Go Insane. The music video for Don't Go Insane even shows a character to the likes of Hybrid in the same position on the bed at the end of LIMBO! One of the beginning verses in Don't Go Insane mentions wolves as well: "Oh bless my heart, when the wolves take me away".

This seems to make it more likely what I said before, that LIMBO is the prequel to Dear Insanity, but like I've said, these are just my theories.

Here we can see what looks to be Hybrid, as he has the same outfit as in LIMBO and is in the same struggle. The second picture is the very next scene in Don't Go Insane. He is in the exact same position that LIMBO ended in.

I hope this all makes sense, I'm planning on trying to go through Dear Insanity and write about what I think the story is through that album, but it may be a bit :).

I was a bit late discovering Junmyeon’s Self-Portrait and Grey Suit albums since I got into this fandom. Only had the chance to listen to it when I heard 1 to 3 in full— I started to appreciate his style of music.

Sorry guys, I am late to the party. I promised myself to discover the members’ discography one by one, slowly, to fully appreciate their style. I haven’t finished EXO’s discography too so it’s taking me awhile.

Anyway. I still cry whenever I watch the music video of Zero Gravity. I cried the first time I saw it. It felt personal. I want to give Junmyeon a hug.

Wishlist for PJM1

I don't know about about you, but my feeling listening to VIBE is that Jimin, and we as a people, can only go up from here. So I decided to list everything I'd love to happen in PJM1 - from the music, to the potential features/collaborators, to the styling.

The Styling

For PJM1, I've always hoped Jimin would channel Victor Nikiforov. For my readers who don't watch anime, please bear with me here. I'll explain.

Platinum grey or silver, waist-long hair. Solid neutral colours on form-fitting pants or anything that highlights Jimin's beautiful dance lines. Victor is a character from the anime Yuri on Ice (highly recommended). He's a world class figure skater, a good-natured and kind person who mentors the main character. And this man is all lean muscle, executing calculated and refined movements while he glides over ice, even when he performs intense and sometimes aggressive routines. He's beautiful and I can't not see Jimin in him.

With this sort of styling on Jimin, I can easily see him switching between elfin elegance and an almost cruel and quiet intensity, or even having both energies co-exist mid-performance. Like an assassin.

I know Jimin is blonde right now, likely already filming for PJM1, but what I would give to see Jimin in this styling. His hair being almost waist-long is a firm requirement in my wishlist.

The Music

Who should I kill, fuck, or marry to have Jimin on a rock song? What will it take? Because I need the universe to gift us with the one track that will reset all life as we know it - Jimin utilizing his low and upper registers on a rock song. No other genre has the range and versatility to embody anger, joy, sensuality, pain, grief, humour, like rock music. Another wild card I've dreamed of for Jimin, is for him to include a song in the Afrobeats genre (and to collaborate with an actual African artist, not just lift their sound verbatim *cough* B.I.).

Jimin on a song like Vibration by Fireboy DML will solve the birth rate crisis in several countries. It would be club banger of the century.

(Add in a reverse modulation for Jimin to come in with his lower register, a bridge, and an Adonis or two *%#@*! in the MV and it's a wrap)

Looking at the roster of producers Jimin is working with, PJM1 will likely lean more pop and R&B, but at least one song with symphonic metal, folk rock, alternative or psychedelic rock, would suit him perfectly and elevate his album over the current milieu of k-pop.

And this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I love rapper Jimin.

He'll need to work on his breath control, but he's got everything else. If Jimin has even just one song where he simply speaks over a beat, anyway he does it, I might lose it.

The Features / Collaborators

Anyone who has followed me for more than a few months has likely seen me gush about:

Taka from ONE OK ROCK,

Tyler from Twenty One Pilots,

Mitch from Pentatonix, and

Asa - a queen and in very loose sense, the French-Nigerian analog to Erykah Badu.

I don't know how to explain it, all I can say is I can hear their voices together in my head and it sounds like paradise. If Jimin has any of those four on PJM1, I'll ask for nothing else.

Fireboy DML whose song I linked above isn't my favourite collaborator to work with Jimin in terms of vocal contrasts, but I do like the music he makes and think Jimin would body any of his songs.

The next best thing, is of course either Yoongi or Jungkook collaborating with him on a track. As this is his first solo album, I wonder if he'll go the route of the rapline so far, in seeking out only voices outside BTS, or if he'll include any of the members on his first album. If he does, Yoonkook has to be the obvious choice because if Who was incredible and Tony Montana made me look twice at Jimin, having either or both members on a song with him is sure to create magic.

Anyway, back to streaming Vibe. That song isn't half bad after several listens and two fingers of Laphroaig.

Reviewing Every UKISS Release: By Unpopular Demand ~ Tick Tack + Forever (For KISS Me) + Forbidden Love

So releases from this point onward until around ~2014/15ish are constant and hectic, so I've had to deviate from my original plan a bit. I think grouping the JP singles + KR digital singles in 3s helps keep things a little less...unwieldy, and less constrained by image limits on posts.

This was the PV that got accidentally leaked, right? Like they posted the full version of this instead of the short version, and that's why it was so easy to watch it on YouTube or whatever, and it was super easy to get the full audio because of it lol. I think it only took me a day or two to find a 320kbps download of it. Anyway, another pivotal moment of my tween years.

Honestly super impressed at how much this song is a team effort

Obviously Soohyun, Kevin, and Hoon have the most lines since they do the chorus, but Dongho gets a good amount with his little extra rap, and while AJ, Eli, and Kiseop get a couple lines each

And yeah sure it's a couple of lines, but they are attention-grabbing

Always appreciate a good bookend with the clock returning

Love the dramatic music, love the dramatic lyrics, it's such a good follow-up to NEVERLAND, and an insane first JP release

So lyrically, is this a reluctant breakup song? Like is this a toxic relationship that they're ending even though they're still in love?

The fluffy hair looks really good on him, much better than the sleek look he wore for NEVERLAND

I think it's cute they all get whole verses to themselves, really gives them all enough time to shine during encores lol

So after the Dongho and Eli raps come my favourite part of the whole song - the sex kitten vocal trio building up to Soohyun

Kiseop > Hoon > Kevin > Soohyun is sooooo good and I love building from Kiseop's soft voice to Soohyun the Powerhouse

Also once again, validates my belief that what Kevin is to Soohyun vocally, is what Kiseop is to Hoon, and is why the four of them can be matched off with each other in any way and still sound good

Honestly, the song is mostly the vocal line, sans AJ. The rap line is just there to act as hype men

Music is cute, super upbeat and poppy, and the lyrics are equally mushy

7.75/10 not something I'd listen to on my own volition, but it's always fun watching lives of this, and I love how much the vocal line is allowed to shine (read: I love how many lines Kiseop gets)

I remember obsessively watching the short MV on YouTube because now when I listen to the song, I can still pick out exactly where it ended lol. I also remember really wanting the shirts they wore for the single cover because it was so ~*~cool~*~ and lowkey edgy, which is perfect for a wangsty tween.

Plenty of gratuitous English, a very important staple for them from this point on

Love how Hoon drags out the "...datta kedo~" part right into Soohyun's line, and the slowdown in Soohyun's line to transition to Kiseop, and AJ's rap picks up the pace again into the chorus, super fun to listen to

Even though I know the start of the chorus is "I, my, me, mine", I always forget the "mine" because it's off-beat

And okay, the first chorus always kills me because of Soohyun

The "subete kakete Egaku ai no sign", is so funny to me because I just think about him doing the ahegao face while singing it during the MC break in their anniversary tour

Like his eyes were completely rolled back and the camera, bless their heart, did a great close up

And he did it like 3 times I love him so much

Back to the song, I really like how the second verse starts with Kiseop, and how Eli bridges the gap between him to Soohyun, and they do the same thing as verse 1, this time going from Soohyun > Hoon > Kiseop

HoonVin second chorus, once again, has me begging for more duets with them, they sound insanely sweet

SooHoon back-to-back high notes? They were feeding us so good

The song is basically exactly what the title says - a forbidden relationship that's doomed to end, but they're like "no baby I love youuuu"

There's also an implication of class difference? First verse has what google tells me translates to "this relationship began with me overreaching myself/but I finally feel like I'm equal to you"

Could just be that girl is way out of their league, idk

10/10 I go back and forth between whether I prefer Tick Tack over this, but they're both like pure dopamine being injected in to my brain

Yes I did watch the full version but I mostly watched the official short one because I couldn't afford to materially support them

There's a lot happening in this first scene

First, Kiseop, take your damn shoes off that's dirty, but I'm happy you're like kind of the protagonist for the non-dance non-solo shot parts of this

Second, why is there a life preserver on the bed? Is it supposed to symbolize that this forbidden love is a life saver?

Why are the chairs tipped over? Why is there an Arizona 51 sign? Are the sirens like directly outside the window or what? What exactly is that next to the bed?

Dongho still has his bowlcut, and while I don't hate Kevin's hair, I wish it had more texture to it?

I don't know if it's all the synth sounds and the heavy beat, or if it's the lengthier raps to a slower beat but it feels both oddly long and short at once, even though it's basically the same length as Forbidden Love

Maybe it's the shorter verses compared to the raps and choruses?

Or how the bridge comes out of the second rap chunk without really changing tempo as it goes to the last verse?

The desperate man didn't hear the scoff of the young man opposite to him at the meeting table. How could he, especially over that erratic heartbeat?

Twelve were seated at the dark wood table, the opposite end of the table filled by the thirteenth, the speaker. The room was sealed and monitored with backup systems upon backup systems, along with many other protocols Yang Jeongin didn't care to know the details of. They were, of course, created by his most trusted bodyguards. One of them stood just behind Jeongin's seat, his arms crossed in front of him to conceal the handgun he kept on him. The other was patrolling the floors in case this man decided to try anything like a fool would.

Jeongin pegged this one, out of everyone in the room, to be such a fool. He appeared an outsider, too, glancing around for a sense of comfort that this place would never give him. His lack of respect for the young businessman led him to wonder if he was used to being the top man in his neck of the woods.

It was time someone put him in his place.

Jeongin crooked his head, still scowling intensely at the man. While he was able to hide his shaking body in that navy suit, he was a menace at hiding the waver in his voice. Was he even trying?

The man, as expected, couldn't hold his eyes with Jeongin's, instead flicked them around to the other suited men in the room. He's worse than the receptionist.

Not many could stand his sharp eyes for long. Granted, he had a resting face to compliment the piercing eyes, but he nonetheless found it to become a little game. It was one of the few things he found amusement in anymore.

The ones that held his gaze longer? Those were who he tended to take interest in. Like his guards—CB and Spear, as their codes called them. They both kept their full names a secret from everyone but Jeongin himself. Even those coded names were secret to anyone on the right side of the law, being mere ghostly rumors to officers. Like the woman on the third floor.

No, he scowled deeper, not realizing the man flinched with fear of saying a wrong word he didn't recall. This is not about her, nor will it ever be.

"A-and this alliance, Yang, would ensure a-a rise in our respective shares..."

Oh, he was still rambling? Jeongin had a hard time not rolling his eyes.

This was the fifth time the man had referred to him by that family name. Yes, he was young for such a position as the head of his family's company. Age was no excuse for the biting manner he spoke that name, loathing to have to plead for this alliance. But the way she spoke it...

Knock it off.

"You seem on edge, sir," a new voice rose in the tense room, where thirteen pairs of eyes shift their gazes to. Was this the advisor? Jeongin could've laughed—even the advisor was fed up with the sickly, whining rant of the shaky man.

He stood and, placing a hand on his pectoral and extending the other to his chair, cued Navy Suit to sit. But Jeongin's eyes narrowed.

For a brief moment, the equally rare and infamous hook tattoo was visible just above his wrist. The dark ink didn't stand out as much against his leathery skin, but Jeongin would recognize it anywhere.

It begged the question, did his grey suit truly betray him, or did the man want him to see?

He'd have to speak with CB about it, then fill Spear in later. Jeongin held no doubt that he recognized the marking, too. Very few details like that went past his radar, even mentioning the smallest changes he saw in Jeongin when something was wrong—the man had eyes like a hawk.

Both guards were formidable allies in a world such as this.

"If I may, sir," the advisor continued, stepping from behind the other to the other end of the table, taking the spot far more comfortably than the other had. "I believe Mr. Wilfred wished to appease you amidst his ramblings." Navy Suit's ears flushed beet red, others chuckled. "He spoke so long and so quick because, as we all know, I imagine, your reputation precedes you, sir..."

The gentleman trailed off, spinning his own flourish on the exact words Navy Suit—right, Wilfred—just said. But, Jeongin had to admit, his voice was much smoother to the ears.

His honeyed voice likely was how he worked his way up to the strings around Wilfred, as even Jeongin, who admittedly wasn't paying much attention to either, could pick up on the similarities to each set of words. Not a puppet nor its master were welcome anywhere near his secrets—but they didn't need to learn that.

The advisor's mouth moved, but Jeongin still didn't listen. CB could fill him in on anything important, if there was any.

He forced himself to focus again when the unmistakable, glowering growl of his guard rumbles in his ear. That rumble was always a warning: the next move he'd make would be for his gun or knife, each to kill.

Jeongin realized that he'd been following the gentleman with unfocused eyes. He stood at the border of too close—couldn't he see the annoyance laced in his eyes? Everyone else could, apparent by the way they sucked in and held their breaths.

"So?" The advisor looked down at Jeongin, standing with his hands clasped in front of him, poised with a disgusting confidence that made the younger raise a brow. "Can we shake a deal, sign the date this alliance was formed?"

Jeongin was always good at controlling the puppet masters.

With a fake half-smile, he lied through his teeth. "Allow me a copy of all of your papers, let me speak it over with a few others privately, and we'll talk."

The puppet master smiled, proud of the shape of his lies, unaware that the lies he's been fed have only just begun.

Jeongin dismissed the group, accepting the bow the puppet master and his puppet gave him with a forward tilt of his head. Hopefully, one or both of them would do something that would warrant a strike by a faceless gang leader that was in power long before Jeongin took the business over. I.N., the leader called himself, and that was a name whispered in most every meeting. What if this turns I.N.'s gaze to us next? Would he target us?

How amusing those comments were, as the very leader they feared was in the same room as they were. Hiding in plain sight.

"Be honest," CB said after the door closed behind the last man, using that voice that Jeongin knew all-too-well. "How much of that did you listen to?"

"Minimal, my friend."

He rolled his eyes. "They're gone. You know you can—"

"Ah, ah! Someone might be listening."

"Still paranoid, I see," he replied in that gruff voice people seemed to swoon over. He was endlessly ogled at by men and women alike, sometimes he'd flirt back, but it never interfered with his job. Jeongin respected that more than he thought he would.

"I'm still alive, am I not?" He challenged the other by raising a brow. He's delightfully met by the silence of his guard, who began the sweep of the room for any sort of foreign devices.

Moments after the search was proven empty, a knock rapped against the door. Three, Jeongin imagined CB would note, sharp and quick.

CB opened the door, his dark clothing moving around him and heavy boots being surprisingly quiet. He peered through before opening it wider. Spear walked through, tugging a young woman behind him that looked rather lean next to his built form.

She was tall, maybe a few centimeters shorter than CB if she stood next to him, but that didn't stop her from wearing heeled boots with her neat attire. Jeongin knew who she was the moment she shifted her gaze from the muscular guard to him.

The woman from floor three.

"I think you'll want to hear her out," Spear said, though it sounded more throaty with the faint irritancy that rolled off of him. She seemed to pick up on that, too. Did something happen in their encounter?

Jeongin wondered if she was anything like that receptionist in the rare times that one's been with all three in a room. It didn't seem that way when she had to deliver things to his office, but still. Would this woman fantasize a pleasurable night with the three? Or would she shake like a leaf the minute she was in their limelight?

She saw Spear's phrase as her cue to step out from behind the guard, stealing her wrist from his hard grasp. Seems neither aroused nor fearful. Nice change. She held up her phone with a poorly lit photo that made Jeongin frown.

"Why would I want to see a bad photo of a desk?"

"Not the desk," she said, sighing deeply with it. "What's against the leg and the underside."

Jeongin scowled at her tone, but looked anyway. If Spear said it was worth it, it was. He trusted him.

Just as she said, between the angle where the underside of the writing desk met the straight board acting as a leg was a thin black cube.

"Where is this?"

"The spare desk by the stairs, sir. The one company guests use. I was asked to tidy up after one of the last guests when I noticed it."

Jeongin tilted his head. "And is it with you?"

"I didn't remove it, no. Seems someone thought that was an ideal spot to monitor, and you can't track a destroyed device." She covered her phone with her hands, clasped gracefully in front of her. Her shoulders were rolled back comfortably, and she held Jeongin's sharpening gaze as it was. "As it's your company, I hoped to tell you in person, sir, so it would be dealt with as you saw fit."

"You spoke to no one else of this before you found him?" Jeongin's eyes flicked to Spear, alluding to who he referred to without saying the forbidden name.

"No one, sir."

Perhaps she could become his set of eyes and ears. She wouldn't be nearly as intimidating as his guards. She'd be able to creep around where the three of them would not be able to so as easily.

"Good."

Jeongin paused, flicking his eyes to Spear first. His arms were crossed over, showing off the muscular arms he used to slightly envy. The familiar scowl was prominent on his face, even if it was partially shrouded partially by a mask. It was the slightest shift of his chin down that let him know he was likely thinking similarly.

He looked at CB next. He was much easier to read than Spear but held an equally intimidating scowl that few could read beyond. He grit his jaw, more apprehensive in the young man's idea that he no doubt caught on to. But CB knew the other side of the law better than any of the three—he was, of course, raised far outside it—and he knew the importance of subtle, trusted intel.

He turned back to the young woman. She stood just as strong as she did before, but her gaze darted between the three men more often than before. She caught on to the presence of a silent conversation, but seemed wary of what it could be about.

Mind set, Jeongin tipped his head down to stare at her face. He was surprised how quickly she met it, and how firmly she stayed matched it. He let one side of his lip lift softly before speaking in a low tone.

"How are you with secrets?"

His MV description: His MV takes place in a house, and the art style resembles that of crayon drawings. The camera cuts again to someone opening a door. A faceless man walks in and loosens his tie. He then breaks into a grin and opens his arms wide. The woman from before walks over and accepts his hug. Ichiro watches from the nearby hallway with a frown, stuffed koala tucked tightly to his chest.

The last minute of the MV shows Ichiro sitting in the dark hallway outside of the dining room where the woman and the man are eating, laughing happily. Duller colours and big shadows are now present.

The man leans closer to the woman, and she kisses him. Ichiro stands up and slinks quietly into his room, starting on a new drawing. The last shot we see in the MV is a drawing of him with crosses over his eyes, angry swirls of red, purple, and orange around him. The audio becomes distorted, to the point where we can't make out the last few words of the song. The MV ends.

bec ilysm 🫶 okay so styling is so so fun in some eras so imma... not cheat, but ! break it up into two sections, hope you don't mind ! (one of these might just be purely bc of a hair colour but technically hair is a part of the stylings 👀 (i could do a whole top for hairstyles but that's not what we're here for) + these are gonna be a mix of mv stylings, stage stylings, etc.)

SECTION ONE: BY MEMBER

1. yongseung - series ‘o’ [round 3 : whole]. i swear it’s not JUST his hair that puts him here but like . THIS HAIR COLOUR !!!!! wine red / burgundy yongs so dear to my heart, but other than that, the outfit choices made for him were such good ones. we always love a suit look, and there's smth about the copper(?) silk shirt that sits lovely against him, with a pop of a different pattern thanks to the collar, and then the silk shirts in general were just good choices, sarah stickered and seal of approval-ed, the whole works dskjgh, and then ig i just have a thing for yongs being in the orange / brown colour-wheel (especially with this hair) bc it just Suits Him, idk what else to say

2. hwanwoong - pygmalion. a mutual of mine got a real-time view into me, who was a singular leedo bias with a fondness for hwanwoong, who had also already seen the solo concept pics, completely disregard leedo in the group concept pics and zoomed right into hwanwoong with a caption of "HELLOOOO SAILOR 🤩🥰" so he was welcomed into the bias line officially... i think that speaks for itself SKDJGH and if it doesn't, look at the photos. they speak for themselves 🤭 (we also got yongseung & hwanwoong interactions again this era so many pluses in my book ! debut besties (oneus + vrvr debuted same day !) near and dear to me<3)

3. seonghwa - fever: epilogue. look at the material, need i say more? DKDKS no but fr, the pink hair is def a top reason this era of styling lives on in my head. we also got pink-haired vampire!seonghwa so… that’s worth all the hype 😌 also probs has smth to do with pink being my fave colour when i was younger, but either way, it's the colouring of everything together that really makes this era a fave. like, okay, hwa's got pink hair, but they didn't make it a hot pink that ran many possibilities of clashing with everything, and it's not a washed-out distant breath of the colour pink but a nice middle ground, and like i said before, look at the material. the brightness of the pink works with the dark blue and grey jacket, the pink goes up against the blue / green (teal?) of the overcoat and only serves to (imo) heighten the pop the coat brings - the clothes under the coat and the background are all monotone and yet, despite the pink, your eyes are instantly drawn to the coat. the third photo . well. that hwa might just live rent free in my head so i'm incredibly biased on it, and imma sound like a broken record but his pink hair is tied in with the pops of pink on the jacket, and there's spots of different patterns that draw your eye, but none that overwhelm you. and as for the fourth pic... pink (cat) hwa is so beloved to me and that's all i gotta say

1. verivery - tag tag tag. look, you know me, you know what my favourite colour is (red) lol BUT EVEN THEN there’s smth about the styling for this era that just hits so well. idk, it’s a mix of casual, of flowy, of literally “just some dudes” kinda looks that just work so well. i looooove the mix of fabrics and patterns and how cohesive they are while all being strong outfits all in their own. this set of stage outfits (pictured below) are, imo, great, like . giving dongheon (1) and yeonho (5) “red heavy” fits, giving hoyoung (2) and yongseung (6) black jackets to break up the monotonous of the singular colour, having gyehyeon (4) in a complete red look BUT using a deeper red and blue / black plaid overshirt to make him stand out AND THEN putting minchan (3) and kangmin (7) in black and white fits with a red accent belt? (even tho you can't really see the belt on minchan lol) SO GOOD 🤩 and even after all that, they've all got bits of silver jewelry that ties them all together too

2. p1harmony - killin' it. okay, so we aren't even in this era YET!! but like . the stuff i've seen... yeah, she deserves it. keeho (1) looks so good i'm 😭, theo (2) looks dark and edgy, jiung (3) looks - in the best way - like he's about to start a fight (and win) idk how to explain it but its so good, intak (4) i want his shirt rn plsnthx it looks like someone grabbed the stars and made it into a shirt 🤩, soul (5) is a son and batshit insane (affectionate) and i'm like so ?!?!? about his hair this era !! i don't think i could do it but it's so sick and suits him so well and jongseob (6) i lowkey expected a nosebleed in the styling? SDJKGH I KNOW THAT SOUNDS STUPID but i feel like it'd fit for his styling alone? not in the overall styling but if it was just him? piwon generally always has solid stylings !

The latest CK ad in the parking garage…so I realize that idols are meant to be blank canvases, but these photos (with the hitch kick to boot (and in boots, btw) are a choice. The androgyny and non-binary vibes are a choice. The crop top and hair are a choice. Idols are designed to provoke us, but whose choice is his styling now that we’re in the solo era?

I’ve always been somewhat confused by JK’s presentation. For a period, he kind of came across as the cocky jock. Then moved into a softer/sexier boy thing. During the pandemic - when he had the blonde hair - I was very confused. Permission to Dance MV JK is screaming Village People.

What best represents the real JK? Personally, I’ve always gotten a huge non-binary feel from him. He always looks like he’s in drag when he’s wearing a suit.

I think there are 4 phases when it comes to JK's fashion:

Try it because I think it looks cool. (Pre-Debut to 2016) - It's clear JK doesn't know how to style himself and so sometimes makes amazing fashion choices and other times... not so much.

JK clearly has a stylist era (2017-2018) - I think BH stepped and helped JK hone a style, that he still today occasionally wears.

Dark Days (2019-Mid 2020) He'd basically wear, black, brown dark greys, usually with bomber jacket, cargo pants, thick boots etc, it's also a fashion trend called streetwear, that also has tones of gender neutrality.

Gender-fluidity (Mid 2020-present) - wears lots of gender neutral brands/clothes, as well as opposite gender items. JK plays around with gendered fashion in subtle ways. This is exemplified by the hoodie he designed and the fashion Brand his brother set up (and something I still feel JK is closely linked to.

So I think as JK has evolved he's become more assured when expressing himself through fashion, and yes that can feel non-bianry.

I remembered an ask you got talking about how exo got really successful so quickly they didn't really get a chance to branch out and develop artistically, so I wanted to ask you about your thoughts on the members as solo artists since they all have atleast a solo album out (you might as well include exo sc since they got to put their own ideas in everything) and all of them were allowed to have a say in things creatively from lyrics,concept and packaging if they wanted too, especially since all their music except for the ballad singers is so different from each other

also wanna know if you were completely surprised with a member like a performance or a concept was something you'd never imagine them doing

omg did i???? i don't even remember my own asks anymore at this point sldkfsdlkfjl. i don't even know if i agree with my own statements there in the first place since exo has done a pretty wide variety of concepts over their lifetime as a group. ....WAIT i think this is about the kai v taemin ask re: image, where i said that kai hasn't been a solo artist for as long so there hasn't been the same type of exploration of image the way taemin has done. i think that is a fair point to extrapolate across to the rest of the exos, since none of them (except for yixing, he's a bit closer to taemin) have been soloists for very long, comparatively, and they all started as adults. personally i think it's a lot more apparent with their solo endeavours that they're confident in their artistic personas and personal tastes, and that comes across in the ones who have multiple releases. yixing is the one with that's shown the most variation, because he's been a soloist the longest, but i do still think that his stuff has some pretty obvious artistic fingerprints and consistency on it. he's matured a lot and in a very specific direction now, but you can see the genesis of a lot of his style early on.

as far as my personal opinions of all of their work goes, i do like that sm chose to debut them solo later in life. i'm sure it was an annoyance to the members themselves, but i think there's a benefit to being older and having a clearer sense of artistic identity and a long time to sit on ideas. it's hard to churn out solo work at the speed to match kpop turnovers and sitting on something so it can be exactly how you want it is good, actually. i like that kai's debut was really delayed bc it meant that there was a LOT of work put into it, and it shows. and i like that he took a full year for the first cb too. it was really clear to me that suho sat with grey suit for probably the entire time he was in the military, bc he came out rip-roaring with an incredibly well put together cb. the exos that have put out more solo work pretty clearly want to and care about what they're putting out, which i think is exactly how it should be. i don't listen to all of them equally, but the ones that get the most plays for me right now are baekhyun, suho, and xiumin. and then sc, probably.

i think my most dramatic surprise was by hurdle, actually. in hindsight it makes a lot of sense with where he's arrived after coming out of the military, but i wasn't expecting something so stylized from him, since he was tending towards the sort of artsy ballad type. tbh suho's discog is very artistically consistent and i can trace the things he's interested in visually, which i didn't even realize until i went back and watched the let's love mv and the dinner station. his stuff tends towards a more melancholy tone so that's why hurdle surprised me so much, because it's much more upbeat, but i think it stylistically matches with grey suit in a weird way (it's probably the colour matching). maybe next would be peaches? but that was mostly because i didn't like ANY of the songs on the album, which i'm still kinda disappointed about bc i really liked almost everything off mmmh. i wasn't that surprised by any of the visuals. sc is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, chen's ballads are pretty typical also. i wasn't that surprised by kyungsoo's solo even though a lot of people were, because i was already kind of expecting him to do a ballad solo so rose wasn't that far off (and kind of preferable, personally). xiumin's was exactly what i wanted from him and i have zero complaints. uh who am i forgetting................oh baekhyun. nothing surprising about his discog, although i WAS surprised by how good bambi was. like he did not have to do that kind dance performance and nor was i expecting him to, but damn. honestly i'm still surprised every time i watch the mv.
