My effort to meditate this morning was failing famously, so I settled on watching the snow fall instead. So pretty :) 

Then I had a bit of an ‘A-Ha!’ moment - we are all raindrops trying to be pretty snowflakes. Sometimes we end up a dangerous knob of hail, or remain a pure drop of rainwater. How come?

Rain is always formed the same way, yet it is flexible and transforms. Sleet, hail, and snow are each a physical result of the rain’s changing environment.

Dig this:

Snow is frozen rain - simple enough? Well... “ A snowflake begins to form when an extremely cold water droplet freezes onto a pollen or dust particle in the sky. This creates an ice crystal. As the ice crystal falls to the ground, water vapor freezes onto the primary crystal, building new crystals – the six arms of the snowflake.”*

Holy shit, what a trip - right? A snowflake’s creation remains constant throughout its decent.

What about the mucky sloppy stuff, like sleet? “Sleet is formed when snow falls into a warmer layer of air with temperatures above freezing. This causes the snowflakes to melt into rain. The rain droplets then fall into another deep cold layer with temperatures below freezing. This causes the rain droplets to freeze into small ice pellets known as sleet.“

What a journey!

The environment that rain sustains throughout it’s journey to the Earth changes the outcome of what will actually touch the Earth. (Hail? Sleet? Rain?)

This is well representing of how we all change and grow into who we are:

Our outcomes are as a direct result of how we respond to our changing environments.

Sometimes we sparkle like snowflakes. Other times we are a messy grey slurry of sleet. Our outcomes are results of the pressures we sustain throughout our journey.

Sometimes we hear stories of how the most downtrodden folks rise from the ashes and become snowflakes. Other times we hear about how people were born of crystal droplets and end up dangerous balls of hail.

One constant factor is whether or not these folks had a key supporter in their corner to help relieve the pressures. Pressures we sustain throughout our lives, and the sources of light we encounter (or lack thereof), greatly contribute to the outcome we will experience.

Whatever path you choose, it is most important to connect with someone who you can always call to your corner.
