âHey Daniels ââ Ellie smiled when she saw the brunette up the road, quickly catching up with her and falling into step with her. She hadnât seen her since Christmas when she helped her through her dadâs scavenger hunt thing. âHowâre you doing? Havenât seen you in a while...â She wondered if she had been at the event at the lake on Valentineâs Day, but she couldnât recall seeing her there, which she hoped meant her home hadnât been hit during all the break-ins.

âWhat the hell is going on up there?â Ellie frowned, looking ahead towards a crowd of people, a couple of police officers in between. âDo you think itâs got something to do with all the burglaries?â She asked, recognising the blonde from the Valentineâs event at the lake, though she couldnât remember what her name was.

âI know it sucks but at least your dog was okay,â Allie said as she took a sip of the sweet beverage. She was definitely going to have a sugar high from this drink. But in the grand scheme of things, Ellie was lucky that they didnât do something worse to her dog. âI mean, at least they arenât ruthless robbers, you know? Is your dog okay now or do you need to still watch him? I know that my dog would be miserable and not want to leave my side if the same thing happened to my home.â
âYeah, I keep focusing on that part, even if Iâm still so pissed,â Ellie said. It didnât take much to anger her these days unfortunately, and that was probably why she couldnât get over the burglaries, even if she found it easy enough to part with the few things that had been taken. âThatâs true. I mean, you hear about people killing off the dogs, so this is... this is obviously good yeah, I just feel bad for him. Heâs okay, doing better at least, but heâs on guard all the time now. Iâm glad your home wasnât hit though...â

âYeah,â He replied, his tone full of abashed acknowledgment, âIâm a little big,â The male added, this time tagged with a laugh, âPlanes give me trouble, and I gotta be careful about the kind of jeans I buy,â Mason looked over at her then, pausing for a beat, a boyish smile on his lips, â⊠Or I might be walkinâ around in high waters,â He jested, a slight laugh, heavy in exhale leaving his parted lips, pulled back to expose a line of ivories, âBut yâknow, I think the chicks dig âThe Green Giantâ look, so, I meanââ itâs worth the caution,â The boy jested once more, one hand in his pocket, the other out, motioning as he spoke. With the hint towards what happened the night of the fourteenth, he shrugged, âNo. Thankfully I wasnât,â He replied, "Iâve felt a little bit out of the loop in regards to it all, honestly. They didnât hit my neighborhood, and I wasnât even in town when everything went down.Â
âYeah, thatâs an understatement,â she said with a light chuckle. Compared to her, Mason was basically a giant â but it wasnât something she wasnât used to. âDonât worry, I think youâre okay no matter what kind of jeans you buy, especially since I feel like... showing some ankle is in, or whatever.â She didnât care about trends, but it was hard to miss some of them when suddenly everyone in New York ran around in ankle jeans with colourful socks to show off. âYeah, definitely worth it,â she jested along with him and laughed lightly, rearranging the strap of her bag a little, mostly for something to do with her hands. âAh, yeah, I heard that. Theyâre being absolute fucking morons though, naming people of interest in the news? I donât know what that shitâs about, but you must be on edge, right?â

Jason Cash had sported a lot of monikers over the years, but Sugar Baby had never been one of themâ until now. Who knew luxury could come from a pretty face and the dick of a champion, using both tools to screw an older woman so hot, so rich, so libidinous. They had started their âappointmentsâ a month proceeding his arrival, and he now made his trip to Kingsgate once or twice a week for classic romancing ever since. It was the perfect set up; she got the company of a handsome young man that made her feel wanted, and he got luxury in its purest form. And, not to mention, she had a daughter who absolutely loathed him. It was always more fun when you could antagonize another, too.Â
The woman went out to run some errands and left Jason to his own devices inside her sheer mansion, and the man made sure to take her words to heart and make himself at home. Swathed in a dark silk robe, surely left behind by her husband before him, he lounged around in her savoir bed and made use of the bottle of Veuve they had opened last night in the form of a mimosa. He was flipping through her extensive HBO catalogue when he heard footsteps that did not sound like the heels she had left in, when a face, not quite her motherâs but equally, if not more beautiful, popped into the room and shot daggers of ire in his direction. He smirked. âââ Mimosa?â I hope your blood boils.Â
The fucking nerve on this guy â this flippant, smug attitude that made it seem like maybe he actually did belong here, it drove Ellie mad. Not only was it disgusting how obvious this whole thing was, him and her mom. Her and older, wealthy woman with a glorious modelling career behind her, and him... some bum with charm for days and enough ambition to easily convince a lonely Kingsgate divorcee just hungering for some much needed attention in the light of her ex-husbands affair with a much younger woman, that he needed a warm body at night and that she was it. Probably provided he could dip his toe in this lifestyle. A sugar baby if anything, and Ellie was properly disgusted.
âWhat the fuck are you doing here? Whereâs my mom?â She asked, visibly trying to contain some of the anger that no doubt came alive under her skin. âWhyâre you here â and whyâre you wearing my dadâs robe? What the fuck is wrong with you? Seriously, donât you have something better to do than fuck an old woman? Donât you have a bit more dignity than whore yourself out like youâre a 21 year old valley girl trying to make her way through college with the right accessories?â

âI donât even⊠âI donât even like thinking about it, to be honest,â Ben answered. âForget all the thievery, you donât treat animals that way. You just donât.â He nodded when she agreed with what he was saying, knowing there was no point to it, that he was becoming tired of going over it again and again with different people. If anything he wanted to forget about the whole thing as soon as he possibly could. âThe lake? Yeah yeah, I think you could say I had fun,â he answered with a light chuckle. âIt was a goof night for the most part. Did you?â
âNo. Itâs fucked up â I donât know what kind of people can get themselves to do that, but itâs fucking horrendous.â She shook her head in disgust, clearly agreeing with everything Ben was saying. It was nice to kind of vent and get it off her chest this way. If there was anything good to be said about the whole thing though, it was that people at least seemed to have had fun at the lake. âThatâs good. I had a pretty good time too honestly, which just seems bittersweet now of course, but you know.â

âAre you good with just walking?â After all, Sloane would always pick whatever option that kept her out of her own house longer. Lisa and Frank have been frantic, re-ordering all things that were taken, making them even more neurotic and unbearable to be around. Besides, the walk wouldnât be too badâ the weather had calmed down a bit, and it was a trail that the brunette was most familiar with. âYeah, it was,â She replied, shrugging. âNothing important of mine got taken, though, it was mainly the living room.â Sheâd gotten a stupid rose, and she knew that it was sketchy from the start, hence why she never had any intentions of actually going. âIâve been okay, itâs school and work,â Sloane smiled at the blonde, âDays go by pretty quick when you have a full schedule. What about you?â
âYeah, of course, thatâs fine...â She smiled and nodded her head. She didnât mind walking at all â it was pretty much all she did these days anyway. Since reporters had lost interest in her parentsâ ongoing divorce, it became easier to navigate around town without someone popping up to take her picture and ask her annoying questions, which she now took full advantage of. âThatâs always something. Itâs the same with me honestly, just a lot of crap was taken that I can replace, I guess, nothing too valuable.â She shrugged it off and kept walking, listening as Sloane spoke. âAnd howâs that going? I donât... remember what youâre studying, sorry â my memory is shit,â she admitted. âEh, you have a good point, time definitely moves faster when you have stuff to do, which is probably why I feel like Iâm permanently bored.â

Elijah: Offer still stands.
Elijah: We're fine. I mean, targets on everyone's backs in North End right now, but we're fine.
Ellie: Yeah, saw your name in the news. It's fucked up! Idk what the hell the police are thinking will come out of this? Other than a riot or some shit.
Ellie: Hope you're ok.

He hadnât expected to hear his name. Maybe. Everyone did seem to run in a tight circle; visit and dwell in the same places in the relatively small town. Brows lifted in reaction, head turning to give way to a proper examination of the woman heâd teetered into, a smile looming upon his expression, âYeah,â He responded, the faintly induced bashfulness of her pinpointing making way into his low voice, âââ Thatâs me,â He nodded, smile parting, making way for a faint laugh, âEllie with the pup, right?â The male returned, glancing around before his eyes made way, down to her features, âYou doinâ well?â
âYeah... I thought that was you. Youâre hard to miss,â she said and motioned towards his height with a sway of and outreached pointer finger. âYes, Ellie with the pup â thatâs what they call me,â she jested, her lips curling into a wide grin. âIâm doing just fine yeah. What about you? Hopefully you werenât hit during the whole Valentineâs Day.... thing.â She sighed just thinking about it. She didnât really care that much about the things she had stolen, but she was still angry that someone had gone into her home and trashed it while her dog was there, scaring the shit out of the poor thing.

âPR stunt, most likely,â Kevin shrugged, âbut hey, Iâm the one whoâs winning with two free cupcakes when theyâre usually too expensive for life in general,â he added, dancing on his seat with joy as he finally bit into the cupcake. âAre you sure? Iâm trying to watch my figure for the summer. Wouldnât mind sharing, really.â
âYeah, itâs definitely one of the good PR stunts if anything.â She smiled a little, her shoulders heaving in a shrug. âItâs honestly kind of crazy how expensive cupcakes are today. I know they can do all kinds of insane flavour combos now, and decorate them like theyâre for The Louvre, but still... theyâre not cheap.â It was a fact she hadnât learned until she was forced to quit the ballet. Before that, eating a cupcake was pretty much the same as one of the seven deathly sins. At least now she could eat whatever she wanted. âWell, when you offer twice... I might have to say yes. Though I should point out your figure is great, and you have nothing to worry about.â

casey-mitchell:
He was far too deep in thought, eyes trained on the way his feet moved in concert to a left-right-left-right rhythm as he pondered over a decision that kept him awake all of last night, only earning him about an hour or two of sleep in the morning. With his attention anywhere but in his surroundings, he was naturally surprised to have his attention called by the blonde and gradually allowed his feet to arrive at a full stop, stepping a bit to the side. âMiss Ellie,â he greeted, concern etched into the tight press of his lips that was probably meant to be passed off as a smile but failed partway. He almost asked if there was something wrong, and given recent events, he wouldnât have been surprised if something was the matter, but it turned out sheâd only meant for a cordial chat. Expression softening into that of relief, glad that she wasnât in trouble, he allowed the muscles in his body to follow suit as it relaxed into a more comfortable stance. She continued to speak, and he was surprised that she came bearing a gift when they were celebrating neither Christmas nor his birthday.
He reached forward to accept the small bag, reluctantly bringing his hand back towards him so he could examine its contents. Now laid out on his palm, he wasnât sure what to make of the toys until Ellie had further explained herself. Wordlessly still, he brought his other hand up to take one of the keychains between his fingers and gave them a little squeeze. Slowly, the corners of his mouth upturned into a delicate smile as he found amusement in the soft rubbery feel of the item as well as the cartoon soybeans it came with. âThis is really funny,â he said, finally. âThank you, Miss Ellie. I donât get stuff like this often.â He nodded. He continued to squeeze the small toy, thoroughly entertained by the way the small bean protruding from its pod. âWhere were you going?â
Ellie sensed the tension and worry almost immediately, but didnât realise it was because he thought something was the matter until she propelled into a bit of an explanation, making it clear she had seen him and decided to say hi on a whim. She doubted there would ever come a day where she saw him somewhere on the street and then didnât stop to say hi to him â from her side of things it was obvious that she liked him and enjoyed talking to him. She couldnât exactly explain it, but ever since that day where she had let out her frustrations during her Christmas scavenger hunt thing, and he had described the feeling so well, she truly felt like he could relate to all the crazy things going on inside her from time to time. At least some of them, and that was more than enough, because half the time she didnât know what it was herself.Â
She watched him as he accepted the small pack into his hand, emptying it into his palm so the three beans kind of just... laid there. She could tell her was skeptical, and she honestly couldnât blame him, but once he understood what they were and picked one up to give it a try, she found herself really hoping he would like it. She held her breath and didnât let it out again until a smile tugged at his lips, her face lighting up and her lips curving. âRight? I thought so too. And I love the little faces...â She smiled when he thanked her, her head shaking a little. âDonât worry about it. You got me that Tangle Toy, after all â this is the least I could do.â When he asked where she was going, she pointed in the direction he had been headed too. âI was on my way home. What about you?â

âI can relate to that. My dog was there, too, when it happened â the really kind folks who did it, thought locking him in a cupboard was the way forward, which was nice of them,â Ben responded with a shake of his head. âAt least it was only that, I guess. Must have been making too much noise.â Since leaving Brooklyn, Ben didnât have much he cared about at all, to be honest. âIâm trying not to let it bother me, itâs not worth it. You let it bother you and they win, right?â
âYeah, they did that to Buddy too. He was so scared when I got back... which I donât blame him for. Itâs just so fucked up, I still canât believe it.â She sighed, telling herself not to get too worked up over it again. There was no use after all â she couldnât change anything. She couldnât undo going to the thing, nor was she very confident she couldâve done anything to avoid getting shoved in a closet herself if sheâd been there. âI heard a lot of other peopleâs dogs got out though, and like... ran into traffic, or ran away. Thatâs worse. I think.â She wasnât sure. Maybe if Buddy had run away, he wouldâve been having the time of his life in the park or something, not trying to break out a cupboard, all stressed out. âYeah, good point. Itâs not like we can turn back time and prevent it. Unfortunately... did you at least have fun at the lake though?â

rafedelgado:
+ Itâs been longer than a year, but the ache in his heart is still as raw as it was when he first received the news. Talking about his mother still proves to be something that doesnât quite come as naturally to him as it should. The way she can only exist through the past tense; how her absence feels a little less when hearing about how sheâs touched the lives of many. Ellieâs one of them. Heâs known this from the moment she started speaking highly of the youngest Featherstone girl, and heâs glad their relationship continued despite his own with Ellie coming to a painful end. Though his mother had always urged him to make amends with her, he failed to do so in her lifetime, which may explain his current efforts Normally heâd escape at this kind of turn of conversion, but he stays in his seat, they both do, as if his motherâs warm hands are on their shoulders, reassuring them. Thereâs a pause that follows after her words. His mouth opens to speak, but all that needs to be said has already been spoken as their eyes met once again. Itâs fine, Iâm glad you came, she wouldâve wanted you there â all with a kind of softness in his eyes that can only stem from unresolved sorrow. He offers a slow and small nod of sorts, a tight-lipped smile and hopes that they could be done with that.Â
âI, uhâ I heard âbout your knee⊠your parents, tooââ He breaks into a small, breathy chuckle. âThis is a bit weird, isnât it? Just⊠sayinâ sorry to each other âbout all the shit weâve gone through?â
Despite being strangers now more than the opposite, there will always be a part of Ellie that knows Rafe, and can never un-know him. All the signs that heâs not comfortable talking about this were almost too easy for her to pick up on, and though she hasnât known this version of him â the motherless one â she has never questioned his love for his mother, and she canât imagine this being easy in any scenario whatsoever. Whether it was because sheâs terrible at these kinds of conversations too, or if itâs just his discomfort migrating to her, the guilt was palpable on her tongue every time she as much as thought about saying more about his mom. What was there to say though? Ellie could almost hear Carmen answer that question for her, probably urging her to speak â to tell Rafe everything that was on her mind right now, but imagining it wasnât the same as having her here, and instead she looked at her son and caught what he couldnât say, her own lips mirroring the tight-lipped smile on his lips before she nodded and leaned back a little, marking an end to a conversation he probably couldnât bear, and that she couldnât bear forcing on him.
âAh, yeah... my knee.â She spoke it like it was some sort of heinous creature, which sometimes it felt like to her now â a dream killer more than anything. âIt is what it is...â Sadly enough, Rafe could probably relate to that all too easily. How cruel it was when your own body fought against you like this. The sound of his chuckle made her smile for a second, like hearing an old song you once loved so much for the first time in years â it was surprisingly painless. âItâs very weird. Maybe, um... we can just skip that part and agree that... it all sucks?â She laughed a little, unsure what else to do at this point.

aliyah--j:
âYeah that happened,â Aliyah nodded as she thought back on the fucked up documentary that sheâd watched awhile back. âHe had like these cages sat up in his back yard and would often go to play with the tigers and lions and then of course he would get bit. The dude was a middle aged man in crisis - his wife was like twenty years younger than him it was so cliche. But poor animals though⊠I fully expect to see that story back on the news when he dies from getting mauled.â
âWhat the fuck, thatâs so fucked up? Who the fuck does that? And how? Like... why hasnât someone stopped him? I mean, okay, he got away with buying one tiger â thatâs one thing, but twenty? Thatâs fucking insane. God, I hate people...â She shook her head and rolled her eyes. The majority of the human race really was so incredibly stupid. It worried her for all future generations. âYeah, if heâs not dead already, itâs probably bound to happen soon.â
