my mom might be visiting our family in germany in the fall for my great-grandmother's 90th birthday (my dad and I can't) and i feel bad for her because while my entire family is jewish, half are zionists and the other half are antizionists and have been arguing about it forever, but especially with the media coverage of the genocide of palestinians.

my mom and i are definitely free palestine, but my aunt is very much a strong zionist and thinks every palestinian is a terrorist trying to take down the jews. my mom isn't even fluent in german, so she can't understand everything everyone is saying beyond a basic comprehension, and may the gods help her if she tries to speak. now mix all of that with everyone celebrating a birthday of a 90 year old holocaust survivor????

This is my own Granny! I’ve been thinking about her so much ever since I became a Granny. She was the best. Loved us all unconditionally… My cousin Susie and I were just talking and agreed that she honestly had no favorites and there were a lot of us. She treated all of us in exactly the same way. She really raised two sons who were real gentlemen and treated their wives so well. They were devoted to her too, but she never got in the way of their wives so pretty much everyone loved her and she was beautifully cared for all of her life. She was the best granny.❤️ My granny Esther was so much fun, and she had better legs than any of us til the day she passed and she always showed them off😂 she couldn’t cook at all, but boy could she serve ice cream😂 Also? She’s the one who taught my brother to golf. He credits her for his amazing game AND she was a seriously good poker player. Always won when they went to Vegas😂 She’s the reason why I rarely get off the phone with anyone dear to me without saying “ I love you”. When I asked her about it her response was…” Sweetie, none of us no if we’re going to wake up the next morning, so I want you to know how I feel about you.❤️” Truthfully? That was the best thing she ever taught me. I loved her dearly❤️So lucky that she was mine. And she was such an amazing great granny to my son. She passed when he was very young but he’s never forgotten her. She had the very best laugh.
