my mom might be visiting our family in germany in the fall for my great-grandmother's 90th birthday (my dad and I can't) and i feel bad for her because while my entire family is jewish, half are zionists and the other half are antizionists and have been arguing about it forever, but especially with the media coverage of the genocide of palestinians.

my mom and i are definitely free palestine, but my aunt is very much a strong zionist and thinks every palestinian is a terrorist trying to take down the jews. my mom isn't even fluent in german, so she can't understand everything everyone is saying beyond a basic comprehension, and may the gods help her if she tries to speak. now mix all of that with everyone celebrating a birthday of a 90 year old holocaust survivor????
