For Mal, the sunny afternoon of March 29 would bring pure magic in contrast with the previous evening’s lackluster proceedings. The McCartney clan showed up [at the Santa Monica beach house] out of the blue, this time with daughters Heather, Mary, and Stella in tow, and Mal was thrilled at the prospect of seeing John and Paul together again—twice in the span of two days, no less. And he was by no means disappointed, observing the two old friends reclining on the patio together and, later, walking along the beach, with May, Linda, and the McCartney brood trailing along behind them. “Nice to see him and John together,” Mal scribbled in his diary later that month.

At one point that afternoon, Evans reached for his camera and snapped a photo of the two old friends lounging at the beach house — flanked by their partners, Linda and May Pang, and Harry Nilsson. May would also take some Polaroids of the meeting at some point this day, but there's a very real possibility that Evans' picture is the last photo ever taken of the 20th Century's greatest songwriting duo. (It will be included in the upcoming collection of Evans' diaries and archives, slated for publication in 2024.)

Let me tell you a story. A friend of mine told me that one of her college classmates participated in a hip-hop dance competition (SDC). Although she didn’t get a particularly impressive ranking, she was one of the top 100. Then she saw Xiao Zhan, and everyone knew that they were in a relationship, so they didn’t hesitate to visit him on set. What I said is just a rough estimate. I don’t have a membership so I can’t send pictures. I can swear that what I said is true, not a single word is fake, unless my friend lied to me, but I believe in my friend’s character

I'd also like to contribute a relatively old story, although many people should know it hahaha, that is, the two of them share resources. Someone around my friend is a staff member, and has read the confidentiality agreement of Zan Studio, which seems to say that there can be no conflict of interest with Bo, and to satisfy Bo to the greatest extent. Because Zan has a studio, resources are more free, and if there is something suitable for Bo, he will contact him directly. ( this was in 2020 )

Then I will also share my own experience. I participated in a New Year's Eve party. The lady sitting next to me is from the industry. She is not familiar with Bo Xiao, but the artist she knows has a good relationship with Xiao Xiao. The artist told her that Xiao had a boyfriend in the CQL crew. The artist told Xiao not to date him. Xiao Zhan said firmly, "I will not break up with my boyfriend."

I'll tell you one, my friend's sister is Jixiangkong's assistant, her sister doesn't like xx, um, she's a wyb fan, my friend knows I'm a fan and told me that her sister took a photo with wyb, I asked her indirectly to find out, she said her sister refused to tell, it was around 2019, she suddenly told me that her sister was a little bit abnormal, one day she said for no reason that wyb has turned gay.

My friend is a director of a certain Spring Festival Gala, and his family also works in this field. He has some connections. He used to think I was a fan of him and told me not to be a fan because he likes men. (To prevent screenshots, I can't say whether he is older or younger)

I'll also contribute one. My friend's dance teacher has been with the CQL crew, and after knowing that my friend likes Xiao Xiao, she told my friend that they were dating in CQL. My friend was almost broken. (She wf) ( wf means weifen = solo fan )

Deaths Are Up Post-Covid, and So Are Funeral Stocks: Prognosis - Published Aug 19, 2024

The Business of Death Aussies, Americans, and Brits — and no doubt people in many other nations — are dying faster than before the pandemic.

Even though Covid waves are becoming less deadly, thanks mostly to increased immune protection from vaccinations and prior infections, the coronavirus remains a significant killer. And stubbornly high all-cause mortality rates indicate that its direct and indirect effects are helping drive a sustained increase in death and disease around the globe.

It’s depressing news, I know.

With death comes bereavement, and there’s been a lot of that since SARS-CoV-2 began spreading widely in late 2019. The number of officially reported Covid fatalities (7.1 million worldwide) doesn’t fully explain the trend in excess deaths. (Neither do Covid vaccines, since body bags were piling up months before the shots were released, and multiple studies show the immunizations protect against severe illness and death).

There’s no silver lining to the tragic loss of life. But if one group sees an upside, it’s those providing funerals, cremations, and burials. Publicly traded companies handling funerals and related services have handed investors an average 79% return since Jan. 1, 2020 — outpacing the 60% gain in the MSCI All Country World Index, one of the broadest measures of the global equity market.

The US highlights the morbid picture. In the two decades before the pandemic, the number of deaths had been climbing at an average clip of almost 1% a year — reflecting population growth and aging, and the devastating opioid epidemic — for a crude rate in 2019 of 869.7 deaths for every 100,000 Americans.

Covid catapulted the rate well beyond 1,000 in 2020 and 2021 before the rate dropped back to just over 984 in 2022. Last year, there were 927.4 deaths per 100,000 people in the US — almost 12% above the 20-year average — for nearly 3.1 million deaths all up.

The coronavirus directly and indirectly contributed to many of them. For instance, a jump in drug overdoses and alcohol use–related diseases during the pandemic likely added to fatalities from unintentional injuries and chronic liver disease in 2023, according to a study this month. Covid also led to more cardiometabolic disease, and age-adjusted mortality rates for diabetes, heart disease, and stroke were above pre-pandemic levels.

Last month, researchers reported similar findings in Australia, where emergency departments have taken longer to hospitalize patients arriving in ambulances — a sign of health-system stress associated with a greater risk of patients dying up to 30 days after their initial medical encounter.

Mortality rates in England have also stayed persistently high since Covid hit, likely reflecting the direct effects of the illness, pressures on the National Health Service, and disruptions to chronic disease detection and management, researchers said in a study in January.

“The greatest numbers of excess deaths in the acute phase of the pandemic were in older adults,” Jonny Pearson-Stuttard and colleagues wrote. “The pattern now is one of persisting excess deaths, which are most prominent in relative terms in middle-aged and younger adults.”

Almost five years into the pandemic, dodging SARS-CoV-2 still remains one of the best ways to avoid adding to the toll — and the frequency of funerals. —Jason Gale

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga proves the wasteland has plenty more stories to offer. Is it on the same level as Mad Max: Fury Road? No, but keep in mind that Fury Road is one of the greatest action movies ever made. Even The Road Warrior doesn’t reach its ferocity or pulse-pounding excitement. What this prequel spinoff has are outstanding action scenes, gorgeous cinematography, a rich world you love to explore and loads of memorable characters.

In a post-apocalyptic Australia, Furiosa (played by Alyla Browne as a child and teenager) is taken from her home by the Biker Horde, led by Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). Given to Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme) in a trade, Furiosa (played by Anya Taylor-Joy as an adult) remains determined to make her way home. To do this, she must make herself useful enough to be trusted with the resources she’ll need to survive the wasteland.

The standout in Furiosa is absolutely Chris Hemsworth as Dementus. We’ve seen evil people in this franchise, but he’s the cruelest and most bug-nuts so far. The thing is, Hemsworth is so charismatic and Dementus is so adept at navigating this world you find yourself admiring the character. Through the story’s five chapters, he’s constantly finding ways to increase his army, resources and influence. The more power he accumulates, the more dangerous he becomes. It’s like he knows he wants to be in charge, but not why, or what to do once he is, which leads to more chaos and destruction. You're never sure if he’s as mad as he seems, or if he’s putting on a show to mock this new world. Maybe it’s that he’s fully embraced the wasteland and wants it to remain as lawless and savage as it is now, so he’s determined to keep tearing it down. Maybe he was always like this but civilization kept him in check. What makes him so dangerous is that beneath the madness, there’s logic and cunning that reminds you of Heath Ledger’s Joker. You're not sure if even Dementus is prepared to deal with Dementus.

We got a pretty good look at this world in Fury Road but the film was constantly putting more distance between the protagonists and the Citadel. Furiosa, by contrast, allows us to sit and see the inner workings. The closeups we get help us understand but they don’t bring any comfort. This is a dreadful world dominated by violence. On the upside, that carnage sure is cinematic. What’s amazing is that we’ve seen vehicular destruction four times from George Miller and he still manages to bring some new ideas to the table. As I was watching our heroine fend off The Octoboss (Goran D. Kleut, playing a character whose name is as ridiculous as it is awesome) and his Mortiflyers, admiring the way it’s shot and the constant back-and-forth as the casualties rise, I suddenly realized how long this battle has been going on. There are few movies doing action on this franchise's level.

You’d think that by being a prequel, much of Furiosa would be predictable but the screenplay by Miller and Nico Lathouris repeatedly uses your expectations to surprise you. You know that Furiosa is, at some point, going to lose her left arm. You know because she wears a mechanical arm in Fury Road and because she’s got a map to her home tattooed on it. Dementus wants that map. We know Furiosa will do anything to keep it out of his hands. Does that mean she will eventually sacrifice her arm to keep it away from him? Is Dementus going to forcibly take it, giving our heroine another reason to seek revenge from him? Will she simply lose it during a violent attack? You don’t know and frequently, you think “This is it!”, only for the picture to prove you wrong.

The always-reliable Anya Taylor-Joy does so much with her character’s limited dialogue and handles the action scenes exceptionally well but if we spend time on her, we won’t have time to talk about the side characters, my favorite of which is Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke). Can he get a spinoff movie too? He's so effortlessly cool. How about the multitude of loonies accompanying Dementus, like that guy with the one eye, or the lady whose face is all messed up? What I love about this film is that it even makes characters out of vehicles. Like, you’ll see this cobbled-together monstrosity and realize you've seen it before. Now, it's got new pieces welded onto it, or a new driver and you can tell that inanimate object has its own story it could tell.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is packed with so much story, worldbuilding, action and memorable scenes you don’t even feel the 148-minute pass by. In fact, when it reached the Chapter Three mark, I thought to myself “Already? We can’t be close to halfway done… not yet!” I can't wait to see it again. (Theatrical version on the big screen, June 4, 2024)

Drake pushed Meek Mill down with his diss track "Back to Back" after the latter artist called his "Charged Up" diss track "baby lotion soft."

Meek Mill also fired back by releasing his track "Wanna Know."

In April, Drake fired at Kendrick Lamar while also targeting artists like Rick Ross, The Weeknd, J.Cole and Metro Boomin. The 37-year-old Canadian rapper responded to Lamar and mocked his features and size.

Eminem's 'Killshot'

Eminem dropped scathing bars and targeted Machine Gun Kelly in his 2018 diss track "Killshot" by highlighting his "irrelevance."

"But I'm 45 and I'm still outselling you / By 29 I had three albums that had blew / Now let's talk about somethin' I don't really do / Go in someone's daughter's mouth stealin' food," Eminem rapped.

Gwen Stefani's 'Hollaback Girl'

Gwen Stefani did not hold back when she dropped her single "Hollaback Girl" after receiving unfriendly comments from Courtney Love.

"I was being bullied by someone and was being called a cheerleader, which was a bad thing!" she told Billboard. "Growing up, that was not cool. I thought I was the opposite of that. I told Pharrell we should write a song about that."

The No Doubt co-founder did not mention Love's name directly, but the Hole lead vocalist called Stefani a cheerleader in her 2004 interview with Seventeen.

Ice Cube's 'No Vaseline'

Called the "best diss ever" by Ice Cube, the 1991 track "No Vaseline" directly lambasted his former N.W.A. members. He said the song "knocked 'em down like bowling pins."

How as he supposed to have control over his younger brother from here. Hell if his father had treated the young kid better none of this would have happened. “I can’t control him if you treat him like a nuisance! Last I heard he was heading to meet some MAFIA members in the UK.” Banzai had gained a little bit of composure.  “So you take your responsibilities lightly, is that it boy!” His father snapped. “How do you expect to amount to anything beyond college boy if you let things like this slip through your fucking fingers!” Blatant disrespect. Why couldn’t his father cut him some slack? “I can’t be in two places at once! You expected me to babysit. He is 19! What happened? He just not answer a phone call! He knew his father would get over this initial blow of the scandal. Luckily it wasn’t being broadcast all over the news but he knew MAFIA probably had that covered. Whatever had happened was being hidden…except it was his brother being used as collateral damage. Banzai knew there was no need to spiral about this. Europe was already in the picture. They were heading there anyways. Plus if Ed was contained somewhere he was at least safe….he could spin that in his own head to be okay with it for the time being. What wasn’t sitting right with him was the lack of contact from any of his MAFIA constituents already. They just jumped the Bungu chain of command and went straight to his father!  Were they not taking him serious? Had they not told Shenzi?! Tell her at least before you tell father! The paranoia was kicking in. Only for the moment. Banzai was the greatest. That was proven on paper and in person. Nobody was able to reach him at least from where he was standing. Good luck to anyone who tried. Yet here he was getting calls from his father at 3am instead of those he has been working with so far. That would have to change. It was time to alert the masses at least. Scouring the corner where he threw his phone he finally found it. Okay a crew cracks on the screen. Big deal. Yeah right. Sending out a few texts to push their schedule forward he planned to head to England first; nobody seemed to have any qualms.

She made bikers stop and have to get pictures taken with her; even at the expense of holding the whole gang up to do so. She walked labyrinths in San Francisco, CA. Dolphins emerged on the coastlines of Washington state. She hiked to the top of Harney Peak in South Dakota. She had standing reservations with restaurants in New Jersey. She captured people on the ferry in Texas. In general, she melted and opened hearts EVERYWHERE she was. Her personality was amazing; and she was always ready for the adventure, right to the very end. Even police officers broke the rules for her to remain at a spot that was closed at night in order to have a peaceful passing, when that time came.

A lifetime was lived in those 11 months.

However, her ending was just the beginning of The Code Journey. It was through pain and sorrow that this work emerged; and has since changed the life of people around the world, by providing Divine Wisdom to maneuver through all of life's experiences. This is the wisdom that encourages us to ALWAYS hold connection with God or Divine Source, through joys and sorrows. The road is not always easy; but it is truly blessed in every piece of it. We have to put in the work and realize the value of our experiences. Very importantly, we must never forget where we come from; and that we are here as a vessel for the light of God or Divine Source to flow through us in each and every experience and interaction that we have.

So, I consider this anniversary of this beautiful connection; to also be the where The Code Journey originated. It is a reminder that the smallest forces can have some of the biggest impacts by just existing, for even a short period of time. This love story continues to live on; and on August 17th, 2024 I will be publishing the 8th edition of this work. A true labor of love. It was birthed from love, created with love, and continues because of love. Love truly is one of the greatest things that we have; and it is important that we embrace it each and every day of our lives.

A brief history of the early photos of the Moon

The Moon is the brightest object in the night sky, so when photography was invented, photographers were determined to get the first image of it.

The very first person to take a photo of the moon was known as Louis Daguerre, the man who invented the daguerreotype process, one of the earliest forms of photography. It was so popular that renowned U.S president Abraham Lincoln and poet Emily Dickenson had their photos taken in daguerreotypes.

He took the photo in 1839- however- a fire broke out in his laboratory and burned all of his work to the ground. This meant that the first known photo of the moon, was burned up, and destroyed forever. However, not too long after, in 1840, John William Draper took a photo using the daguerreotype process from a observatory, this photo of the oldest surviving photo of the Moon is shown below.

When Draper had a son (Henry Draper), he inherited his father's passion for astrophotography. Even with it being not too long after photography was first invented (1822), he took some remarkable photos of the Moon, and is well-known for taking some of the clearest and best photos of the moon for the 19th century, the detail on these images were (and still very much are) incredible for the time!

As the years went on the quality of these photos got clearer and more consistent, since there were different ways to take photographs as the years went on. When a new century arrived, new photos were being taken of several planets in our solar system, such as Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, etc. An example of the new photos include the following image

(Soviet Spacecraft) 07 October 1959, Luna 3 captured the dark side of the moon on film, then developed it robotically and faxed photos to Earth.

Over one hundred years after the first photo of the moon was taken by Louis Daguerre in 1939, the United States landed on the moon. When they landed, they took this iconic photo, which was labelled as the "Greatest picture ever" in 1969. It was the first time a man had stepped on the moon, and it illustrates how monumental this image was to the American people.

Even in 2024, we are still taking incredible photos of the different planets in our solar system (and beyond), they are much higher quality than those taken over one-hundred years ago. But that doesn't mean that those photos should be forgotten about- because without them, we wouldn't be where we are today. We wouldn't be taking photos of the moon like this incredible, jaw-dropping photo of it taken in 2024 by Astro-photographers Andrew McCarthy and Connor Matherne.
