Just like last year I want to kick January off with a flat popularity contest, showdown 2k25.

Automatically competing - everyone from last year (list), with the following exceptions

I'm going to reassess a few from last year, specifically the real people

when i was growing up my mom let our cats outside. that was just how it was. and our first cat, grayla, had a bad leg from birth. when we got her we lived in an apartment so she didn’t go out, but then we moved out to the country later on... and like, she got really badly injured. something took a bite out of her, basically, she lost a slice of her hindquarter. it looked really rough. and my mom still kept letting her outside for some reason? and then she disappeared. it was two weeks before we were going to move out of town and she vanished and never came home. and i waited and waited and waited because mom didn’t explain she was almost definitely dead. and she never came back and we had to leave without her. it upset me so much.

and our next cat, chibi, when we brought her home... i didn’t want to let her out! not after what happened to grayla! but my mom started letting her outside while i wasn’t there to say i didn’t think it was a good idea (i was also 12, so i didn’t really have much say in things.) chibi DESTROYED animals in our neighborhood. birds, rabbits, moles, etc. she killed her way through what must have been an entire nest of rabbits. and then a rabbit got back at her-- it bit her hind leg, punctured all the way through. she was lucky it didn’t slice her tendon. but it got badly infected, and she was lucky to make it through that because she got VERY sick.
