The other day, I was watching the Pokémon anime and thought tera types are a bit dull.
Instead of crystal hats, the crystals could be integrated into their bodies. For example, if it were a flying type, it could have blue crystal wings.✨💎

So uhh… two of my Pokémon have been breeding. I can already tell who the mother is - Ribbon Fox shares the Field Egg Group with Spriggie and Rilla but Char doesn’t share an egg group with the others meaning it must be Ribbon Fox but given Ribbon Fox shares an egg group with both Spriggie and Rilla, I don’t know who the father is! The annoying thing is, the mother passes down the species so I can’t tell from the species who the father is because I know I’ll be getting a Fennekin, not a Grookey or Sprigatito. I can’t remember which parent passes down the Pokéball (I think it’s the father) so if the baby Fennekin ends up in a regular Poké Ball the father must be Spriggie (or they removed the passing down Poké Ball feature) but if it ends up in a Fast Ball, the father must be Rilla. If it ends up in a Friend Ball then it’s the mother who passes down the Poké Ball. Egg moves might also tell me something but I don’t think any of Spriggie’s moves can be used as egg moves for a Fennekin
#I guarantee someone’s gonna reblog this to tell me how to work out who the father is#wait how does Tera type factor in?#would the baby Fennekin have the Grass/Normal Tera type from Spriggie/Rilla or the Fairy Tera type from Ribbon Fox#or would it have a Fire Tera type because it starts off as a pure Fire-type (I guarantee it’s this one)#delphox#meowscarada#rillaboom#pokémon violet#picnic

Did a quick thing because me, @xxtc-96xx and @thatt-bored-artist were fighting Annhilape’s for… awhile. A 6star Grass type tera and NOTHING we threw at it was helping it was insanely difficult.
The answer?
We gave up lmao. The first Tera to truly make us rage quit!
We tried to get Arceus to kill him after we quit.

If it were me I would’ve made it so your Pokemon terastalizes to the type of the first move you pick when you use the gimmick (so, for example, if I terastalized my Meowscarada and had it use Bite, it would become a dark type, but if I had it use Magical Leaf instead it would stay a grass type). That way you have options and can use terastal in more ways. Maybe that would’ve been too complicated to actually implement in the game though. But that’s how I’d do it.
Terastalization as a gimmick would’ve been more fun if the tera type was ALWAYS different from the main type. Or at least most of the time.
#inspired by me wishing my meowscarada was a tera dark type instead of grass when I battled ryme :(#fake gamer girl rachel#pokemon#pokemon scvi

//For the next designs, I'll pick the 1st and 2nd most voted type, choose an species that matches that, and do variations like I did back with the Venipedes. Maybe crossbreeeds, maybe Tera variations, whatever inspires me!
And next adopts will be in late November next! So we can all take a break from Adoption Sundays :)

Planning my team for my next Scarlet playthrough. Was considering putting Venusaur and Meganium on the team of flower girlies (gender neutral), but I figured Vileplume and Bellossom would be more fun to use because they're weaker and also I've never used them before. Also considering whether I should play by gym leader rules and use grass Florges as my only Tera type, or whether I will allow Fairy Florges/Flying Jumpluff/Poison Vileplume.
#I feel team runs are much more fun in scarvi because of the exp share/let's go mechanics making team grinding easier#Solo challenges are far less cumbersome in earlier games

About your recent drawing, with the Nobel Three (that's what I'm calling them)
Do they get new types added onto them and can they terastilize?
Yes, they get new types, and yes they can Terastilize. (Except Dokukieran ofc. He has some Tera Crystals around him but that's really it.)
New types:
Okidogi- Rock/Fighting
Munkidori- Water/Psychic
Fezandipiti- Fire/Fairy
Dokutaro- Poison/Grass
Although when Terastilizing I like to think they Terastilize into Poison types, as a sign that they're still loyal to Dokutaro
Also when Terastilizing I imagine the Loyal 3 have the little strands like Ogerpon has in her Terastilized forms

I miscounted, Hisuian Decidueye can use 8 moves: Shadow Claw, Triple Arrows (50% chance of dropping your defense), Brave Bird, Leaf Blade, Leaf Storm (it actually will only use this one once from what I can tell?) Grassy Terrain, Bulk Up, and Swords Dance
I love it when games decide to make things challenging by. Just letting the computer cheat. (<-this is sarcastic)
See the thing about Tera Raid Battles is that they're infinitely more doable if you have friends who you can coordinate with
Like even online you're fighting the game lagging/glitching just as much as you're fighting the Pokémon to the point that like instead of being a mode that connects you with players from across the globe and serves for greater communication
Just kinda actively incentivizes you to do it solo because then you don't loose time due to lag or mis strategize because the game just. Won't fucking tell you one of your party memebers died
So like take your pick: either it's a mode that's so poorly designed it disincentivizes the thing they want you to do, or it's a mode designed for a shrinking portion of your player base (people who have four friends with the game they can coordinate with) for... like reasons.
Idk why I still do this other than a determined sense of masochism, hope that like one of these days they'll reasonably optimize this shit for like. Actually the average player, or it's activated that primal urge to figure out the puzzle and get the correct answer even though I can never find the right build and end up looking at what other people do because I'm a hack and a fraud.
Like sure require max EVs, require level 100's and smart Tera types, but I've seen Decidueye use seven moves and even being nicer relatively speaking it still like is mainly doable only with a couple of very specific mons
#alto tries Tera raids#I think I'm done for now though will probably be back to bitching when we get to Hisuian Samurott#...oh that one IS gonna suck if it's Tera Water I have no good electric types and it'll probably have actual grass coverage#yeah it'd have x-scissor#*sighs*

I’ll be honest if I had the DLC it would be kinda cool to keep the starter you get in the egg in Kitakami unfortunately a it’s a Sinnoh starter, my least favourite starter trio, and b I have a general dislike of the idea of having two shots at choosing a starter and going for the same one both times (I was planning a post yesterday where I say what my first and second choices of starter would be for each starter trio (except Hisui bc I’m assuming I only get the one chance there) with the intention of having at least one starter trio (probably Sinnoh) where I choose the same starter both times because I just dislike the other starters too much. It backfired and I was actually able to choose two in each region. Actually the hardest parts were choosing which starter to not have in Kanto (I decided Charmander was probably the one I’d be least sad to not choose), Hoenn (I guess the Treecko and Torchic lines just have an advantage over the Mudkip line), Alola (sorry Incineroar, I just prefer Decidueye and Primarina. You’re cool too though) and Galar (again, sorry Rillaboom I really love you but I just prefer Cinderace and Inteleon) as well as choosing which would be my first choice and which would be my second choice in Johto and Sinnoh because both starter trios have one I wouldn’t choose if possible (Totodile and Chimchar), one where I like the middle stage more than the final stage and honestly despite my need for counterparts would probably keep in that stage even though the other one would be stuck in any stage but the middle (Cyndaquil (outside Hisui) and Grotle) and one where I think I’d just fully evolve it just as long as it doesn’t have to be in its middle stage for too long (Chikorita and Piplup. Nothing against Bayleef and Prinplup I just prefer the rest of their evolution lines)). My point here is I’d strangely (given my notable hatred of the Sinnoh starters, especially to the extent they’re the one starter trio I would willingly box the moment I catch something more interesting (Unova only gets spared because I like how they were promoted)) willingly keep them in my party once they hatched but only if one of the following two things happens: either I get Turtwig in Scarlet and Piplup in Violet or I get Piplup in Scarlet and Turtwig in Violet (I just know either I’d get Chimchar in one version, I’d get the same Sinnoh starter in both versions or I’d get Chimchar in both versions)
#as an added bonus option one means I finally have a cure for my lack of Grass-types in Scarlet and lack of Water-types in Violet#you’d be surprised how much of an impact that makes when looking at Tera Raid battles#and I could use 7-star raid bosses to help me out here but in Scarlet none of them have a starter type as a Tera type except Pikachu#and I’m not bringing an unevolved Pikachu to a 5-star Tera raid battle#and in Violet I’m mainly waiting to see if they do reruns of the Hisui raids so my Hisui starters can have Scarlet counterparts#meanwhile option two means Quax and Spriggie (+ Blueberry and Cherry) get to match their Sinnoh (starter) counterparts#starter pokémon#turtwig#piplup#pokémon#anyway I plan on imagining what it would be like if my aces met the unevolved Sinnoh starters over breakfast#as in while I have my breakfast irl

Fenne: "Woa! Your markings changed when you used that water type move, did something happen when you did it?"
(From @askfenne !!)
( Context 1, 2)
(( Here's a bit of trivia about Charade's type changes!
For those who don't know, Meowscarada's flower when in bloom bears resemblance to a pomegranate, which you can read more about on Bulbapedia. The meaning behind the flower in the base design is what inspired me to have her flower change based on her type!
As a Water-type, her flower is based on a white water lily. The bulb is replaced by a lily pad. The idea to change her cape (for all forms, but especially this one) was inspired by these Meowscarada variants by mykocalico!
As a Fairy-type, her flower is based on a pink shrub rose. While I can't find an exact name for the species, these roses are called "The Fairy" by some gardeners (it's also a plant in Stardew Valley). I think the design for the bulb was based on a generic flower bulb, but I can't remember (I'll update this post if I figure it out)!
As a Dark-type, her flower is based on the genus datura, one of several plants commonly known as moonflowers. Not only does this beautiful flower bloom at night, but their poisonous properties have led them to be commonly associated with witchcraft! The bulb is based on the datura's seed pod.
If Charade becomes a pure Grass-type through her ability, her appearance is the same as her default. (Don't fix what ain't broke, right?)
I've always loved the idea of weird type changes, like with Delta species and Tera types, so I'm glad I get to play around with it in a milder form! Then there are, of course, the Hidden Types of this blog... Maybe some day I'll come up with more hypothetical Protean type changes for moves like Thunder Punch or Triple Axel. ))

Doing things you're not supposed to do in Pokémon Violet
So! I decided I wanted to do a Normal type playthrough of Pokémon Violet, and then decided this would be a perfect time to do things that I probably shouldn't!
First off is when you're about to catch your first Pokémon. This might not come as a surprise to you, although it did for me, but Nemona isn't set to say a certain Pokémon name in this sequence! Here as you can see, I have a Sentret in the first slot of my party, which Nemona acknowledges
I think the reason why this took me off guard is because I assumed Nemona used the code certain characters use in games when talking about your starter. For example, Professor Oak stating what Pokémon you started off with after you beat Blue in FRLG or if you want a more modern example, your mom in Black and White 2 when she looks at what Pokémon you chose. Instead of doing this, Nemona reads the first Pokémon in your party, a trick commonly seen in Pokémon. If you want a good example, Mela does this in the same game!
(fake news btw, i chose sprigatito)
I guess the Devs didn't really think players would transfer a Pokémon to their game this quickly, which is fair. Though I'm surprised Nemona knew to say Sentret, considering Sentret is purely a DLC Pokémon and doesn't exist in base game. Maybe it knew to say the name because I have the DLC but I digress. I kind of assumed it would do the same thing as my next point - Nemona reading your Tera Type.
As Nemona is teaching you about Terastalisation, she will try to read your Pokémon's Tera type. Basically, the game will look at the first Pokémon in your party's type and make Nemona repeat it. Sprigatito is Grass type, Pawmi is Electric type....you get the idea.
Note how I said 'try to'. Because if you're like me, and you set a Pokémon's Tera Type to Stellar on a save that has Indigo Disc completed, transfer it to a new save and put it at the start of your party, this will happen:
I mean, she's not entirely wrong.
Now I'm no games expert, but what I think happens is that because the DLC didn't exist when the game first released, the game has no data for Stellar, especially for early game cutscenes like this. To the game, this type doesn't exist. The game doesn't know what to say, so it says nothing. Notice how the space between "a" and "type" is longer than a usual space. That's the game trying to output the first Pokémon's Tera type, but it can't because, like I said, Stellar doesn't exist to it, so it just puts a blank character.
Though it makes sense in story, Nemona has no idea what Stellar is, lol.
Also here's something you don't see in a normal playthrough; a shiny Stellar Sentret about to decimate a level 9 Yungoos
Anyway thanks for coming to my TEDtalk
