Decided to see if these extra cuttings would root / do well in the ground and LO, they’re getting nice and fat! even with all the rain and humidity they seem to be doing fine. 👏🏽

Hoo boy. This guy. This guy grows like a rocket. It is constantly firing off new shoots from any part of it, including practically any leaf that falls onto the soil around it. They multiply like woah. They will eventually waterfall over the edge of the pot. I couldn’t find a common name for it, maybe because everyone was too busy outrunning it to stop and name it.

Graptopetalum mendozae
The genus Graptopetalum is part of the large Stonecrop Family (Crassulaceae), and these plants come mainly from Mexico, though 2 species extend northward into Arizona. One of the smaller species in the genus is Graptopetalum mendozae, from the state of Veracruz in eastern Mexico. While its relatives typically have red lines or splotches on the petals of their flowers, G. mendozae lacks these. 5 is the normal petal number in the genus, but the lowest flower in the photo above has only 4.
