Brazilian Jasmine
Mandevilla sanderi, the Brazilian jasmine, is a vine belonging to the genus Mandevilla. Grown as an ornamental plant, the species is endemic to the State of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It is a rapidly growing, creeping, perennial plant, pruning shoots about 60 cm per year. Brazilian Jasmine contains white latex, which is toxic and can be irritating to the skin and eyes. I want to grow dates (Verse)
Fruits (dry)
The dates tree
seed
I've been putting dates in my yogurt lately.
Desert fruit: dates.
As I was eating, something hard hit my teeth
--it's a seed!
I immediately soaked the seeds in water.
I checked it with AI and it seems it can be grown well.
It takes time to germinate,
and it is dioecious,
so even if the seedlings grow,
they won't bear fruit.
But you can grow them as ornamental plants.
I'm looking forward to it.

🌿discovering that nandina is an invasive plant in my area was soooo devastating 🌿
° 、 ✧ ‘ 🌻 ✰ , °
nandina (heavenly bamboo) is my favorite shrub!! it is sooo pretty and changes colors throughout the year 🍁 but i can't justify or recommend planting it ornamentally anymore!!
from what ive learned, it hails from asia— in china and japan, and was imported into the US as an ornamental shrub, used as yard dividers in the 70s. and eventually it spread so fast that it ended up in the woods and wilded areas.
the way it grows can be devastating to smaller plants on the wooded floor, as it will grow overtop of everything, shading plants under it and taking all of the sunlight for itself, which in turn doesnt allow the native plants in the area to thrive.

Cape Honeysuckle is an Interesting Plant with Beautiful Flowers
Blushing Trumpet When I was out at Watermelon Pond, I found more than one pretty, trumpet shaped flower that was blooming even though it was late in the year. This one was growing along the fence at my friend Mary’s house. Instead of yellow, like the Carolina jessamine, that I wrote about in my last post, this one was a bright reddish orange. The color first drew me in to look at the flowers,…
