It's-a-me... a-Maro! And not just one Amaro, but two Amaros... you know, like brothers? 👨🏻🥃👨🏻 This one started out using the Boulevardier template, swapping out the Campari for a split-Amaro base. It was a little too sweet, so I dialed back the vermouth. The bourbon I used is 100 proof, but if you use an 80 proof just up the amount to 1-½ oz. Super Amaro Bros. • 1 oz Evan Williams (100 proof) Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon (30ml) • ½ oz Amaro Averna (15ml) • ½ oz Amaro Nonino (15ml) • ½ oz Cocchi Vermouth di Torino (15ml) • 2 dashes Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters • Orange peel Instructions: ① Add everything except orange peel to a mixing glass. ② Add ice and stir for 20 seconds. ③ Strain into a chilled double rocks glass over a large ice cube. ④ Squeeze the orange peel over the drink to express the oils. APRICOT MANHATTAN FEATURING UNCLE NEAREST. In putting together a cocktail that featured Uncle Nearest, I wanted to focus on the flavors and richness of the whiskey – pulling out some of the fruit and savory notes that run through this delicious whiskey. I designed this with the Nearest Distillery’s 1856 expression in mind – bold at 100 proof, it’s delicious as a sipping whiskey in its own right. But in a cocktail, it sings. . I pulled out the apricot notes at the first sniff and then, underneath it, a bit of pepper and spice, that savory note that rides the finish. And then, just a hint of the herbaceous – the smell of new grass. Nothing to overwhelm the palate, just the idea of that subtle green flavor. . I think of the Nearest Legacy, forgotten to the history books, remembered by family. ● Moscato daisy ● Food waste is such a terrible thing. It's easy to do without thinking about it, but the impact is often bigger than one might think. Funny thing though is that most liquor types actually originated as a way to prevent food waste. One of my favorites is grappa! . Where rum was a way to turn the side product of sugar cane processing into something amazing. Cognac did it differently, where the smaller grapes unfit for wine production where turned into liquor. Grappa goes even a step further. The waste product of wine making are the stems and skin of the fruit. This is used as the base of grappa which makes it such an interesting product. It's very flavorful with a nice woody character. . In this cocktail we complement this woody character with some lovely chartreuse. Citrus juice is used to highlight the bright flavors in the grappa even more. The choice of grappa for this cocktail is of the muscat variety which has hints of rose and vanilla. This turns the whole into a lovely floral concoction. Cheers! . 1.5 oz grappa moscato (Nonino) 1/2 oz yellow Chartreuse 3/4 oz lemon juice 1/4 oz simple syrup 2 ds Spanish bitters (@doctor__adams ) or other orange bitters grape (as garnish) . Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into coupe glass.
