i know i’ve rambled about this before but I think about it a lot with the various like “can reptiles/fish/non cat/dog pets ACTUALLY love you back” posts and articles about how to tell when your cat loves you and I just sometimes think it’s a little silly to act like love is both this grand ineffable mystery in regards to pets (or people) and something to be measured and assessed
like does Baloo let me hold her paw for a long time (a Measure of Trust according to many articles)? No, she doesn’t really like having her paws touched. But when she gets her head stuck in the back of a chair or her scarf’s caught on something, she stills the moment I touch her head and lets me—a big, strange creature (who frankly often runs into furniture and doorframes)—manipulate the most fragile and vital part of her body in order to help her.
love is an action imo. your dog doesn’t need to be able to comprehend the words ‘I love you’ to feel loved, and your snake doesn’t need to purr to show that it trusts you and likes being around you. love is going to look a little different in every setting and trying to both box it in and demand it meet certain criteria is just...kind of dumb

I have now seen Wicked part 1 I must see Wicked part 2 immediately bring it to me I demand to see it
#slight spoilers in these tags be warned#this might be the best stage-to-screen adaptation of a musical i’ve seen#splitting it into 2 parts means no cutting stuff to save time so there’s nothing to miss#and instead there’s so much room to expand on it in multiple ways#the little changes here and there really work too like improving Nessa’s character#and i loved Something Bad being done as a meeting between Animals that Elphaba overhears#i was basically about to cry through the entire thing#i’m really hoping we’ll actually see Boq and Fiyero transform onscreen in part 2#i don’t keep up with Ariana Grande’s music it’s not my thing but she’s such a great performer#you can tell it’s a dream role she knows Glinda so well#i don’t think i’ve ever seen Cynthia Erivo in anything before but i love her as Elphaba#her voice and expressions she’s so good#give me her No Good Deed i need it#wicked#shut up Ly

#favorite maze is a toss up between bloodmoon for the set design and monsters for best scares for our walkthrough#like Ilona and I were at the front and alone in the room with the hunchback where he comes down at you from his vantage point#it was so gooooood#I got a few good scares at last of us with the clickers and oddfellows was just a grand time smiling the whole way through#all the mazes were good this year and shoutout to dueling dragons for being so nostalgic 😭😭😭#and the darkest deal we had a great time at the back of the group#we got to slow down in the last room and ilona and I just got to watch the whole last scene before th e exit#amazing superb and now my feet hurt and I’m exhausted 😴#I also got so many compliments on my dress 🥹#happy halloweeeeeeen 👻👻👻

#tag talk#an hour into space odyssey and it finally gets good cause they introduce Hal#ten minutes after the person I was watching with gave up and went to bed.#Kubrick please this first hour was fucking boring as hell#I heard so much about how the cut between the apes to modern times is so good but genuinely I paused it and rewound five times while laughin#like... this? this is the scene transition I've heard people fan over?#anyway. I muted the movie audio and put Nyan cat and ancient aliens and stayin alive over different scenes and it was great#gonna hang on to the rest of the movie because Hal just murdered someone so maybe it's good enough to watch with someone#ngl this is why I sometimes prefer watching movies alone. I can watch a bad movie with no fear of what my companion thinks#I don't have to hold room for “oh no what if they're not enjoying it? what if they wish we were watching something else”#it always comes down to that damn social anxiety doesn't it#like. I'm not interested in watching cats 2019 really. though I've gotten part way through it with various people#but I genuinely think I could watch the whole thing if I were alone. I don't care enough to. but I think I could#because watching the cats movie with someone sparks that secondhand embarrassment and cringe#anyway go watch that contrapoints video on cringe and shame and social behavior policing it's pretty good#all this to say. 2001 a space odyssey is very very boring#like. it's slow but not in the way Jaws is slow. that one actually succeeds with the anticipation and suspense. space odyssey doesn't#maybe it's partly because I've read the book? (Arthur C Clarke sci-fi is mid that's my hot take) but I don't feel like that's it#there's just no suspense where there obviously is supposed to be. the grand symphonic music in the background feels paper thin veneer#it's a grandiose front to a hollow scene.#also the flight stewardesses supposed to be walking in zero g with velcro shoes are doing such a bad job of it.#literally the first scene we see the shoes they zoom in and we explicitly see her rebalance catch her weight#CATCH HER WEIGHT - IN ZERO GRAVITY?????#anyway. I'm mad about that

Never before have I turned in negative peer reviews. The time has finally come.
#come ON guys#group project right. statistics. two questions.#I’m the only one who didn’t get docked points for formatting so I’m like oh I’ll get started on that while yall figure out what test it is#I spend. 45 minutes. on formatting. writing the summary. and verifying all assumptions and conditions.#they. in the same time. have identified it’s a chi-squared test for independence.#AND THATS FUCKING IT#so apparently no one can figure out how to run the test in statcrunch#we get kicked out of the room we were in right as I’m opening the data to see if I can figure it out#once we find a second room. it takes me a grand total of three minutes to figure it out. THREE MINUTES.#WHAT THE FUCK WERE YALL DOING IT WASNT EVEN DIFFICULT#IT WAS LITERALLY JUST stat-goodness of fit- chi square test#admittedly. I have no idea if I’m doing it RIGHT (or if we’re running the right test) but everyone agreed that resulting table was right#so I throw it in the doc and start writing the report to finish up the question#no one else does. anything. until I finish writing it.#and then. AND ONLY THEN. are they like hmmm what’s question two about#at which point we get kicked out of that room and one person has to leave to go work on another group project#so we stopped for the day.#I leave saying I’ll get the summary and formatting done for part two tonight.#all is well it ain’t difficult I identify what tests we need to run it’s fucking easy right#yesterday. we’re supposed to meet at six. no one can meet at six anymore. great.#one other member writes down the hypotheses we’re testing.#those hypotheses are currently the only thing on the document not written by me.#I have shit I need to do so I need to get this assignment Done Today#so now. I have also verified all assumptions and conditions for the unpaired And paired t tests for question two#and ran both tests through statcrunch. I have all the data. The Legend of Zelda - Hero's Diaries masterpost
(Don't expect this to be continued, this is just for my own organisation lol)
If you've seen posts like my Project Sky, Earth Heart, or Bleach Maths, you know I like my overly grand dedications and oversized projects. Outside of a few personal ones, this is probably my longest and most researched one yet - my Hero's Diaries.
Zelda, to me, is one of those franchises I just sort of slipped into, my parents bought the games because we had the appropriate consoles and they were consistently good, you know? I loved them individually, but didn't piece them together as parts of a larger world until I was a little older, and then sought them out on my own.
Possibly one of the best parts of tloz is its silent protagonist, Mx-link-between-the-player-and-the-game. As a child, and even really as an adult, I could get so engrossed in the games, choosing my every action wisely, playing little games I made up myself in the world, taking in the scenery, frothing when I died to some smug looking boss, standing in front of animals to pretend I was petting them (mostly Epona) XD.
So between that, my love of documenting and researching, and my writing hobby, it was only natural that I keep little records of my own playthroughs. Funny little details and accidents, dramatically or comedically timed moments, bosses I defeated first try, npcs I did or didn't like.
It turned out, when I sat and thought about it, I'd actually played a lot of Zelda games, throughout the years.
