As some of you know, we are currently in the process of revamping and restructuring GPN. During this restructure, we’ve been in the process of discussing new changes, including addressing the conduct of our members. During this time, a situation with one of our members has made us speed up this process. 

The admins of GPN are people of color that align ourselves with the community, and we do not tolerate the perpetuation of negative racist stereotypes. We have tried to elevate resources that we feel are necessary in this community, and have taken steps to also keep certain FCs out of rotation. We saw some opposition to our growth when we started banning racist, homophobic, transphobic, abusive, and other FCs that for lack of a better term were “problematic”. We knew that moves like this would upset people, but we have felt the need to use GPN as a platform not just for resources but for resources that would be positive for this community.We are once again making progress that will upset some, but that we feel will be best for the community.

Some of you may be aware of what has come to the attention of the RPC in regards to Emma. We did not have time to make a statement when her resources were under scrutiny for whitewashing, due to the revamp and a lack of time in our personal lives. Since seeing the response from her and others, and the racist attacks on Drew particularly, we have been discussing how to address this situation and remove her as this has unfolded.

With the addition of the information last night regarding racist portrayals of latinos, and the clear message we have seen from our members, we have made the choice to remove Emma from GPN. Her resources will be removed from the group, and we will not be adding them to the revamped and restructured network. If you do not agree with this move, please let us know, and we can remove you from the network as well, and will move forward with the restructure accordingly.

We do not take racism in this community lightly, and we both have attempted to bring more to this community as individuals, and feel that GPN must also be a way for us to take a specific stance in this community. We hope to continue to elevate your content and resources in a way that will positively impact the community, and we encourage you all to continue making diverse resources for your community. We hope to continue to improve GPN going forward. We ask you to reflect and to grow with us, and to take a look at the resources and characters you are putting forth in the community.

We will be putting out a separate statement for our members regarding personal conduct. Thank you for your time, and thanks to those of you that are looking forward to and supporting the restructure going forward.

and about the gpn thing, idt she is pretending to be part of it. a lot of people use the tag without being actual members because they see other people use it and think the GPN is another gif collecting blog so ya, just also as a general PSA please don't use the 'gifpacknetwork' tag unless you're an actual member since it makes it harder for the admins to keep track of our packs.

so, i’m working with the gpn members right now to figure out what they want to do as the next steps since our tag is completely empty right now and since I wasn’t able to keep the blog up to date as of yet, that was our main way of keeping our packs live. this might mean a new blog and a new tag, this will DEFINITELY mean changes to our system. this really sucks but i can’t say im surprised. also, thanks for 4.1k, you guys will be getting a new gif pack page soon, but who knows if tumblr will let me do that!

but! i want to take a moment to give a huge thanks to our gpn members, y’all have really kept the tag alive and at the risk of being cheesy, y’all have really created a great network that you refused to let die when the admins had to take a step back. thank you for your hard work!

I do not know an exact date, unfortunately! GPN is going through an update right now, so it probably won’t be until all the dust has settled with the move. Moving forward, I’d say keep your eyes peeled on the GPN site for updates, and direct any questions about the network over to Elly @fakehelper as she’s an admin and will be much more equipped to answering your questions than me!

Who are your favorite gif pack makers?

omg okay so i have a good few bc my friends make good ones and ppl on gpn do too??? but okay i’ll do a list cause i was getting disorganized w this answer lmao: 

my sister elly ( @fakehelper ) makes really good packs that are hq and colored well and her packs usually have tons of gifs in them so she’s def one of my favs (pack tag)

i also really love and use a lot of cass’ gifs ( @casshelps ), always hq and sometimes like a ton of packs back to back w really good coloring??? amazing !! (pack tag)

also raven ( @ikilledtherpc ) makes great gifs, same thing, v good coloring and hq and like elly and cass, always great fcs! i’m always happy when they make a pack! (pack tag)

i love min’s gifs too, and if you’re looking for underused east asian and southeast asian fcs (hq that are not whitewashed), you’ll find so many with them! (pack tag)

i’ve also seen great gifs from brooke ( @omibutt ), again great fcs, good quality, and doesn’t whitewash (ps i use their diane gifs!) (pack tag)

i also really like what i see from sarah ( @kbunburyhelps ), again they fit all the check boxes and introduce me to some great fcs! (pack tag)

also some great gifs from ev ( @merrittrps ) (tons of aja naomi king and some lamorne morris and yah yah dacosta packs) (pack tag)

another great person for east asian and southeast asian fcs is blue, they also make tons of hq gifs and don’t whitewash!! (pack tag)

there’s also probably some people i forgot, i don’t really hang out in the gif pack tag and usually find people through gpn. i’d check out @diversegifhq , where i reblog a lot of packs that are good quality (there’s hunts there too but if you search “pack” most packs should show up.) 

i’d also recommend checking out gpn ( @gifpacknetwork ) every week if you want to, every admin picks a favorite gif pack of the week and you can find my favorite for each week on the right hand side under “charlie’s pick of the week”!

also side note when i say good fcs, i mean that they’re usually not cishet white fcs. these gif makers make a lot of high quality resources for fcs that really need them in this community, and they don’t whitewash these fcs! they take the time to preserve peoples’ skin tone and highlight some fcs that never get attention or are underused. and they usually aren’t cishet white underused fcs that were in one thing like once, which is something i always look for in gif makers.

CALLING ALL CURRENT GPN MEMBERS!

We will soon be undergoing our revamp. Many members already in the discord know of the revamp and what that entails and are preparing to make the transition a smooth one. If you wish to remain in the network, you must reapply. This goes for absolutely everyone, including myself and the other admins. Current members will only be removed if they refuse to apply. We need you to do so in order to rebuild our gif pack directory. If you are unsure of whether or not you want to reapply/rejoin, join the discord. As mentioned before, you do not have to engage in the discord at all (besides an introduction post in the intro channel) you may mute all channels EXCEPT the admin updates channel. We’ve been discussing the revamp there for a while now and there are more details on how we’re moving forward if you’re unsure. Please message me and I will send you a link to the discord. If you do not want to reapply or join the new discord or the new version of gpn, that’s okay. We will not remove your old packs unless asked. This blog will, however, be archived in the future.

As for everyone else, I’m so sorry for the delay, but we’re almost ready to get back to you and provide you with high quality gif packs. Applications WILL reopen after all of our current members have reapplied and given a chance to get used to our new system. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I’m going to go with gif pack makers because I don’t really keep up with gif set makers? @janeyrps​ @casshelps​ @kbunburyhelps​ they’re all amazing and I didn’t choose janey and cass bc they’re admins of GPN, I chose them bc they usually put out like A LOT of gifs and they’re usually hq as hell. also sarah could kill me any time of day with her gifs js

The whole desaturated thing?? There’s no way to do with with poc without whitewashing them lol. I mean I know that some people “try” but most of the time it’s just whitewashing lol call it what it is

Coloring?? I mean it’s great when there’s actual light in the scene, but when I get to like DARK scenes that look like they were filmed in a cave with only moonlight for “lighting” it gets a bit frustrating to make a gif that doesn’t look like garbage lol.

Ask advise at WordPress.org/support

If you are going to use free trusted plugins or themes, check the version number compatibility listing and verify that the plugin or theme is still being supported and updated. Many themes or plugins are slow to receive updates or are simply abandoned.

If you do not use it, lose it. If you are not using a theme or plugin, delete it.

Use paid supported themes and plugins (not free).

Experience shows that nearly all WordPress attacks could have been protected against and protected by simply using safe, up to date and trusted plugins and themes.
