I finished Noah's Arc
My descent into villainy begins.
@lostsomewhereinthegarden wanted to be tagged in this one 💕
Voice acting:
I have no clue what any new characters sound like in the sub, so this 4kids performance only.
Noah: round of applause he sounds fantastic.
Gozuburo: he needs to sound more like he smokes
The Deep Sea Warrior guy: I forgot what he sounded like
Crump: he sounds weird
Johnson: Why is his voice so deep? Why is it so deep? He sounds like a big scary monster.
The robot: I wasn't paying attention to him
Lector: nice. I like his voice.
Dark Magician Girl: it's really annoying for some reason.
Flame Swordsman: hot voice
Serenity's deck master: I don't like it.
Characters:
Yugi: that sure is Yugi. He gets more screentime than usual and that's a nice change. I love his interactions with Téa after her duel, he's so sweet it makes my dumb shipper brain go crazy.
Yami: he sure does duel. He insults Noah a few times, and is mean to Kuriboh in his first duel.
Téa: QUEEN. If Kaiba didn't exist this would have been her season.
Joey: That sure is Joey. It killed me every time he thought of Mai. Bro wants her back so badly.
Tristan: he was robbed. He deserved to duel again.
Duke: this man is so fucking rude like what the hell? I love him tho he's funny and silly.
Serenity: this poor girl blames herself so much. It was not her fault that Tristan died. It was 100% Duke's.
Seto Kaiba: why is he like this? He's so cool.
Mokuba: precious baby wanted to forgive Noah so badly. He said they were family. He said Kaibacorp would help build him a robot body and they could be twins. I'm crying.
Noah: Why was his backstory handled better than the Ishtar's? Why? This is a filler character and I felt worse for him than Marik. Maybe it's because he's a better duelist idk.
The big five: they exist
Gozuburo: his love for Noah was so conditional, I hate this man. I'm glad he's dead.
Important note
Deck Masters are a thing. I like the idea of them.
Duels
Duel 1 - Yugi vs Gansly
Yugi chooses Kuriboh as his deck master and is upset about it because it was an accident.
Gansly is his own deck master.
Most of the duel is Gansly explaining the rules to Yugi and using cards that either don't exist, or are really bad.
Yuugi wins using Kuriboh, Rainbow Bridge, and Gaia the Fierce Knight to attack Gansly directly.
Duel 2 - Téa vs Crump
There was so much Téa fan service in this duel and before this and after this duel. It would have been distracting if this duel wasn't hype.
Téa picks Dark Magician Girl as her deck master, and Crump uses himself/Nightmare Penguin as a deck master.
Crump uses Penguin cards and cards like Cold Wave (Rest in Peace King) to gradually turn Téa into an ice sculpture.
Téa uses cards like Maha Vailo, some equip spells, and Mirror force to help herself, but due to still being a beginner mirror force gets destroyed.
Téa is getting guidance from Dark Magician Girl on how to duel, and ends up using Sage's Stone to special summon Dark Magician.
Téa wins the duel.
Also, Crump wanted to build a penguin themed amusement park, but that's not important.
Duel 3 - Joey vs Johnson
Joey stumbled into a court room after thinking he found his way back to the blimp. He was tricked by Johnson who was pretending to be Mai.
Joey's deck master is Flame Swordsman and Johnson's is Judge Man.
During this duel, Joey is using his deck master's special ability to raise his monsters attack points, but then they all get destroyed.
Now Joey is putting his faith in his gambling cards, but Johnson is cheating and making it so Joey can't use them
Noah catches this and calls out Johnson, but Joey says it's fine as long as he doesn't cheat anymore.
Joey ends up winning.
Duel 4 - Tristan, Duke, and Serenity vs Nezbit
I wasn't paying attention to this duel until Tristan died.
I still wasn't paying attention after he died.
Duke and Serenity win, but Nezbit got to take control of Tristan's body and now Tristan is Robot Monkey Tristan.
Duel 5: Kaiba vs Lector
This duel was too short.
Lector's deck master is Jinzo and Kaiba's is Lord of D.
During this duel, Lector is using cards like Jinzo and Imperial Order to make sure Kaiba can't use spells or traps. He also uses Injection Fairy Lily. I miss her. I miss my Lily.
Kaiba catches on to Lector's plan and makes him lose too many life points to keep Lily and Imperial Order on the field, then he summons Blue Eyes White Dragon and destroys a Satellite. I'm pretty sure 4kids censored this scene, because there was a weird jump cut from Blue Eyes attacking, to the debris falling.
Duel 6 - Joey and Yugi vs The Big Five
The big five are using Tristan's body to duel, and they're doing alright with early Umi Control. Then Johnson ruins it.
Yugi and Joey fuse their deck masters The Big Five fuse their deck masters.
Uhhhhhh
Yugi and Joey win and we never see the Big Five again.
Important stuff that happened
Mokuba got kidnapped and brainwashed.
Kaiba and the gang found out that Noah was Kaiba's step brother.
Noah is being really creepy to Mokuba.
Duel 7 - Yugi and Kaiba vs Noah
This duel is so long
Kaiba is really trying his best and is kind of winning, but Noah is reciting the Bible and using Mokuba as a shield so Kaiba loses because he is a hardcore reddit atheist and loves Mokuba.
Yugi calls Noah a hypocrite and combines his and Kaiba's deck.
Kaiba and Mokuba are turned to stone at this point.
Yuugi keeps talking shit and then Duke gets turned to stone. Nothing of value was lost.
Noah has to activate his deck master's second ability because Yugi destroyed the first one, and now Yugi has to fave Shinatu or whatever his name was.
Noah keeps raising his life points and he's using Spirit Monsters
My honest reaction to spirit monsters.
At least we saw Yatagurasu.
Noah is turning Yugi's friends to stone every turn, but Téa gets to stay alive for one more turn because she's just cool like that.
Yami summons all three Dark Magicians that he has ,but Noah destroyed all of them.
Then Yami summons Blue eyes and wipes out Noah's life points.
Yugi won and Kaiba wasn't happy that Yugi used his deck.
Duel 8 - Kaiba vs Gozuburo
This duel was also too short.
Gozuburo has Exodia and it gave Kaiba PTSD.
Kaiba has to send all 5 pieces of Exodia to the graveyard so that Gozuburo can summon Exodia Necros.
Necros is invincible and Kaiba's all like "You still take damage dumbass"
Gozuburo raises the attack of Necros, and Kaiba banishes (or puts them back in the deck I forgot) the Exodia pieces that were in the graveyard.
Kaiba wins and Gozuburo tries to take over his body anyway, but Yugi saves him.
Important stuff that happened
The squad was looking for an exit with Noah
Noah was told he was disappoinment so many times.
Mokuba accepted Noah as part of his family
Noah went to the real world to help the gang get their bodies back.
The island is about to explode.
Téa, Tristan and Serenity get their bodies back first
Then Duke and Joey
Then the rest of them.
Noah traps Gozuburo in Cyber space.
The island exploded

The guardians of the Pharaoh
The rise of a new darkness
I don't own Yugioh or it's characters
This chapter has mention of child abuse and implied assault. So a warning is in place.
Chapter 11
The sun had set over Domino city…the helicopter landed at the hanger where the zeppelin for the Battle City finals was kept. Lillian had passed out during the flight, the pain and exhaustion had been too much and in a way Seto was glad she was out. Rather that than having to sit in agony the entire flight. He had wrapped his coat around her to cover her wounds, not caring if her blood ruined the fabric, he had another one anyways.
He got out of the copter, a few members of his staff waiting with a stretcher and anything else they would need to help the wounded girl. He had informed Roland about had happened and instructed him to put the medical staff on standby.
The tall teen laid her down on the stretcher, laying Lillian on her side so that her wounds weren’t pressed against anything, knowing the pressure would cause her pain. He stroked her cheek and moved a few strands of her hair out of her face before stepping back so that his staff could get to work, watching as the doctor checks her vitals before they move her onto the aircraft.
Seto wanted to follow and stay by her side but there were other things to attend to. The obvious plan of action would be to cancel the tournament before anyone else got hurt…but that would probably send Marik back into hiding. And he wanted nothing more than to enact his vengeances on the bastard, to make him suffer like no one’s suffered before. To make him beg for mercy as the brunet breaks every bone in his bone one by one…
But he can’t right now. He needed to ensure that the tournament continued…he could let word get out that one contestant had tried to kill two other competitors, a civilian and not to mention torture and mutilate another. The media would have a field day and his sure reputation of his company would plummet. He could lose everything he worked so hard for…and if he were honest he and Mokuba would be well off (after all he had more money than what he knew what to do with) but the people that worked for him did not and would suffer if Kaiba Corp went down.
So for now he would let things continue. The Battle City Finals would continue and when the time came he would make Marik pay for what he did. Yugi and his friends might hate him for this but he didn’t have a choice. There was a lot at stake and he needed to consider the risks. Besides he could always let Marik fall to his death from the zeppelin once they were away from the main land…
His turned back to the helicopter and saw that Mokuba hadn’t moved since they landed; in fact he hadn’t said a word for the entire flight. Seto was sure the kid was trying to deal with what happened…he was still a child and yet he had been kidnapped twice and had watched his friends nearly die and listened as another was tortured. The brunet had tried his best to ensure the Mokuba never went through what he went through while they were growing up. Seto thanks the stars every day that their step father had never laid a hand on his little brother. Mokuba didn’t deserve to get hurt…he may seem like an indifferent a spoiled rich boy to the rest of the world but he truly did care for the people closest to him. He wanted the best for his little brother and for Mokuba to have a great life and bright future…it’s why he endured years of pain and humiliation from Gozuburo. It was all for him.
Mokuba was always the cheerier of the two Kaiba brothers; he wore a smile on his face and had a positive attitude. Seeming him so downcast and bleak was a sin. Seto walked over and stood by the door of the helicopter, “We need to get going. The finalists will be arriving soon.” He spoke in his usual monotone voice. Mokuba didn’t respond and kept staring at the floor; Seto sighed as he got into the copter and closed the door as the pilot was making preparations to take off again.
The older Kaiba turned to the younger, “Look…I know what happened was…hard. But I need you to get over it and move on. I need my commissioner to help run the finals…”
He watched as his little brother’s hands slowly close, tears forming in his eyes as he finally spoke, “How can you be so cold after what happened?”
“Because someone needs to stay focused. Listen Mokuba…there will be time to cry over what happened later but we can’t risk anyone else getting hurt. We need to concentrate one making sure everything else runs smoothly and that we don’t have any other surprises.”
“But—“
“No buts.” Seto’s expression turned stern, “I know that what happened was hard to experience…I know that Yugi, Téa and Joey are your friends, although I don’t get how you can stand to be around Wheeler.” He says as he rolls his eyes as he folds his arms, “And that nearly losing them was traumatic for you…I’m not even gonna talk about what happened to Lil but you can’t let it drag you down…not when we need to ensure that everything else goes smoothly and that we ensure that the person responsible for all this gets what’s coming to him...” he looked out the window, watching as people were running about, preparing the zeppelin for take-off.
The helicopter lifted off the ground as Seto turned back to his brother who was still trying to fight back tears. Mokuba had taken his brothers word to heart and in a way he was right like usual. He just didn’t want to admit it. The whole ordeal had truly terrified him; his friends had nearly died right in front of his eyes. He had appreciated who his big brother had tried to shield him from everything, going so far as to deafen the sounds of his friends pained screams. He knew Seto was only trying to protect him and even know his big brother was trying to keep him safe in his own cold hearted way.
He couldn’t distract himself with feeling grief over what happened. It would only distract him from doing what needed to be done to ensure the safety of everyone else. He knew his brother was probably thinking of the future and other things that Mokuba couldn’t see right not. He was always considering things that others wouldn’t even think about. He just wished that Seto wouldn’t be so cold all the time but he should’ve expected this reaction from him…well it was either this or loosing himself in a fit of rage. He was rather surprised at how calm Seto had been about what happened…he was hiding his rage rather well considering his expression had remained blank since pulling Lillian out of the water…
Mokuba sniffled softly as he rubbed his eyes, trying to stop the tears. He froze for a moment when he felt his big brother’s arm wrapping around his shoulders and pulling him into a tight hug, “We can deal with this later once the tournament is over. But we have sometime before we arrive at the stadium to greet the finalist, even if it isn’t much time.” Seto spoke softly, glancing down at Mokuba, “So let out whatever you need to get out. Cry if you need to, scream if you want to…but once we land I need my little brother to be at his best, to stand at my side as my commissioner and my second in command…because there’s no one else I trust to handle this more than you Mokuba…”
The kid started tearing up as he looked up at his big brother, “…Honestly I don’t think I would’ve made it this far in life without you little brother…everything I’ve ever done was for you. After our parent’s passed and our relatives stole our inheritance and abandoned us at that hell hole, I wanted nothing more than to ensure our future and that we would never suffer financially again…I wanted you to have a life you deserved. Even if I had to endure the brunt of our step father’s aggression, I do not regret challenging the man that day…because it meant that you could have a good future.” He ruffled the boy’s hair as tears were running down the younger Kaiba’s cheeks, “You are one of the most important people in my life, and possibly the most important…the other person can’t be here right now. You are the reason I strive to be the best and to do what I do and Lillian gives me the strength I need to be best.” He turns his gaze to the window, looking at the city lights.
“But she can’t be here right now…she got hurt because I hosted this stupid tournament…and you could’ve gotten hurt too…” for the first time since he pulled Lillian from the depths his emotionless mask started to crack as a tear forms in his eye and threatens to run down his cheek, ”I don’t know what I would’ve done if anything happened to you again…I couldn’t even keep you safe from Pegasus, I had to rely on Yugi and Lillian to save us both…if Marik turned you against me like how he turned Joey and Téa against Yugi…or if he had hurt you like he…” Seto could feel his hands tremble, slowly losing more of his composure. He took a deep breath in and released it slowly, “…I would’ve snapped and burned the world to the ground till everyone involved in your suffering knew the pain we both felt…
Mokuba it’s hard to express what I’m feeling right now…it feels like weakness even though you and Lillian have told me many times it’s not. I need to be strong, to be the best, to protect my heart…and that means that I have to protect you both because you two are my heart. And right now I need to ask you a difficult task…to be my strength while the other half of my heart is healing. So use this time to grieve and let out your sorrow…because the storm is yet to come and I will need my little brother at my side.”
Mokuba slowly let the walls break and he buried his face in Seto’s shirt, letting the tears flow freely as he silently cried. This was the brother he knew from long ago, the brother he thought he lost when they were adopted, the brother who wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable, and the brother he knew lay buried beneath the person their step father had created. He was always there, hidden behind this egotistical and arrogant man. This was the side of Seto that would only show itself when he was with Mokuba and Lillian because they only ever wanted him to be himself and didn’t push any unrealistic expectations onto him the way Gozuburo had over the years.
Seto held his little brother as he cried, a single tear running down the brunet’s cheek, letting out a small ounce of the turmoil he was feeling deep within his mind and soul. He’s brother had been taken from him again but he returned to him faster than last time…but the woman he loved had suffered immensely. He knew the pain she had felt with the whip had licked her flesh with each strike, the scars on his back were a reflection of that same pain…only difference was that her wounds were inflicted to make Yugi suffer while his wounds were created to teach him to submit to his step fathers will.
The pain and screams were still the same…he heard it echoing in his mind even now while they flew over the city. She felt so fragile and small when he held her in his arms after the ordeal, so far from the girl who had snuck into his room every night since they found each other again after being adopted and had given him the strength to keep going, the girl who had consoled him every time he nearly broke from his step father’s abuse…even the night he did break…the one night the monster came into his room and held him down, doing unspeakable things to him while he struggled under the man…
He promised himself he would never speak of that night…he locked that memory so far back in his mind…and yet here he was thinking about it. He had never felt so violated and humiliated in his life. He had truly felt afraid that night…because if his step father could do something like that to him, then it meant he could do it to Mokuba. But he never touched his brother…and strangely enough he never touched him that way again after that night…and Lillian was to thank for that.
She had told him a few months after that night that she had seen what had happened to him. She arrived at the manor same time she did every night to patch him up, only she found someone else in Seto’s room with the boy that night. She had told him that she froze up as she watched, she felt ashamed that she didn’t do anything to make it stop but Seto was relieved she didn’t in a way…because if she had tried to stop his step father, the man would’ve hurt her, possibly killed her.
Lillian had explained that after he left Seto’s room she wanted to kill him…to end the abusers life…she had gone to the kitchen to grab a knife and ended up outside Gozuburo’s room, stopping when she heard the man enjoying a drink while boasting about what he did to his man servant Hobson. The man asked his employer what would happen if Seto exposed the man for the abuse…to which he responded that he had plans in place if anything were to happen to him, that Seto would be sent away to a mental institute and Mokuba would either end up back in the orphanage or be disposed of. She went back to Seto’s room, finding him curled up under the sheers…crying…a pillow over his head…muffling his screams of agony. She had never heard anything like it and she never wanted to hear it again.
If she had killed the man, Seto would lose everything, including his little brother. And she wouldn’t let that happen…so she came up with a plan. She stole some of her mother’s sleeping pills and mixed it into Gozuburo’s favourite bottle of bourbon, he would have a glass every night at dinner and would be dizzy and tired half an hour later. He would go to bed and sleep through the night, meaning he left Seto alone.
The beatings weren’t as frequent but they continued…however that night never happened again…
Seto was angry and grateful at the same time…she had prevented the worst night of his life having a repeat performance.
They never spoke about it after that, they promised never to speak about it again and he buried that night deep down, his personality shifted after that, becoming the cold indifferent person people saw him as today…it was after that night that he started plotting to take everything from his step father and make him feel as humiliated as he had made Seto feel…
Lillian respected his wishes and gave him the support and strength he needed to continue. She never pitied him for what happened and stood by his side every night, staying longer to help him deal with his nightmares. And she still loved him despite the change in personality and his behaviour, she still stood by him…even after he hit her she love him…he felt like he didn’t deserve her but he was selfish and would keep her by his side till his last day…
The helicopter landed in the stadium and the brothers disembarked, Mokuba hugging Seto one last time as he whispered, “I love you big brother.” The brunet returned the embrace and ruffled his hair, “Love you too Mokuba.”
They separated as the copter left and they waited for the finalists to arrive.

In Battle City my man literally had a tech team of Only Women and that doesn't happen unless it's Generally A Good Place To Work
Plus let's be honest every man Kaiba's ever had to work with (all the way from Gozuburo to the Big Five to the little side character security dudes) would stab him in the back no questions asked so who would Kaiba Actually Distrust More
Whenever someone is like “Kaiba would be sexist/homophobic/etc!” I’m just kinda like… did we watch the same show?? Or even read the same manga?? Even if you just watch DOD you can clearly see that Kaiba wants EVERYONE to feel accepted. I hate people that think he’s bigoted just because he’s an asshole. He’s an asshole because he’s autistic and doesn’t mask. They hated him because he was a baddie 😔

Okay I can’t stop thinking about this idea I have for a Pokémon AU for YGO.
It’ll probably be based on the Johto games (probably with an Alola-based sequel that plot-wise takes some cues from the Virtual World arc). Gozuburo is the leader of a now-disbanded evil team (either Team Rocket or a team made up for the fic), and Kaiba is trying to take down the remnants of the evil team his father led. Gozuburo steals Kaiba’s entire Pokémon team when he learns that his son is planning on betraying him, and since Kaiba is too prideful to ask for help he steals a starter Pokémon from Professor Sugoroku Mutou’s lab in order to build a new team powerful enough to take down Gozuburo’s. Noticing that one of them is missing (that being the starter Yugi chose), he takes the starter that would have the type advantage against the missing one, in case he runs into the person who took that starter Pokémon.
The rest of the fic is from Yugi’s point of view. Over the course of his journey, he keeps running into Kaiba, and when he learns that the evil team that once terrorized Kanto is trying to rise to power once again, he tries to take them down, too. After Yugi beats Kaiba in numerous Pokémon battles, and Kaiba realizes they have the same goal, he starts to gain a begrudging respect for Yugi, but keeps trying to get him to stay away from the evil team, citing that it’s “none of [Yugi’s] business,” but of course Yugi isn’t having any of that and makes his way to the Goldenrod Radio Tower when Gozuburo’s team tries to take it over, around the same time Kaiba does. This ends up leading to the two of them teaming up, seeing as how Kaiba can’t get Yugi to stay out of what he deems to be his business and his business alone (to which Yugi counters that if Gozuburo’s team is trying to rise to power and they succeed, it’s not just Kaiba’s problem, but also that of the entirety of Johto).

I have this prompt idea that anyone can take.
Mokuba sets up Kaiba and Joey on a blind date. Kaiba goes because Mokuba is making him. Joey has his own reasons. The date goes well, no fighting and they actually find each other tolerable. Kaiba does not ask for a second one, and neither does Joey. Joey tells Mokuba this later when asked, and Mokuba will get angry saying that they are good for each other. Joey will tell Mokuba something like “It’s fine, Kaiba has no experience.” Where Mokuba will get even angrier because Kaiba DOES have experience, just not in a good way. Kaiba’s had a previous boyfriend who was deceitful, acting wonderful and innocent at first but then essentially turns into a Gozuburo and forces Kaiba to second-guess himself. It is why he has major trust issues. The rest of the story follows Joey changing tactics in how he courts Kaiba, now knowing that he is a victim of relationship abuse. They grow and learn how to love one another by picking up each other’s pieces.

I’ve had a Neon Genesis Evangelion AU hanging out in my head every once in a while, so here I go!
The plot kinda follows NGE, but it has YGO details as well. There’s more than three pilots, for one, and the angels are based on the Millennium Items’ abilities. For lack of mothers in YGO, other characters’ souls are in the Evas.
Yugi, Kaiba, Jounouchi, Anzu, and Bakura are all Eva pilots.
Atem, Kisara, Shizuka, and Thief King Bakura’s souls are in the Evas. No clue whose soul would be in Anzu’s.
Yugi’s Eva (Unit 01) is purple and pink with some green, like the Dark Magician. His plug suit is black and blue. Everyone else’s plug suits match their Evas unless otherwise specified.
Kaiba’s Eva is white and blue, like BEWD.
Jounouchi’s Eva is black and red, like REBD.
Anzu’s Eva is blue and yellow, like Dark Magician Girl. Her plug suit is yellow and pink.
Bakura’s Eva is dark blue and pale blue.
At some point, Bakura’s Eva goes berserk and someone has to stop it. This results in Bakura feeling extremely guilty about the whole thing.
The elevator scene happens with Kaiba acting as Asuka did and Yugi acting as Rei did (albeit Kaiba accuses Yugi of being a wimp who avoids confrontation when he thinks he has the high ground and Yugi denying this, and Kaiba’s rant being about not needing help, not hating everyone).
Speaking of Kaiba, he turns out to be a modified clone of Noah. He gets a scene where he declares that he is not anything like Noah.
When Jounouchi finds out his sister’s soul is being used so his Eva can move, he is pissed and rants at Gozuburo.
Speaking of Gozuburo, the scene where he kills himself happens during rather than before the story, which is why Kaiba is in a worse mental state (hence the elevator scene).
The equivalent situation to the episode “Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win” features Yugi and Kaiba as the pilots who must synchronize their movements, and Anzu proving better suited to defeating the Angel with Yugi spurs Kaiba to do better.
Anzu tries to mediate the fighting between everyone (read: mainly Jounouchi and Kaiba but also occasionally Yugi and Kaiba). Key word: tries. This being an Evangelion-based AU, this does not end well, especially when it’s Kaiba and Jounouchi fighting. Her arc shows what happens when one person tries to resolve lots of fights on their own: it takes a mental toll on them, and while any rifts between her and Jounouchi are more easily resolved because they’re friends, it isolates Kaiba from pretty much everyone, because now he’s put the others off trying to talk to him, too. Anzu and Kaiba end up resenting each other.
Yugi ends up being the closest thing Kaiba has to a friend, but even then Kaiba is frustrated by how Yugi can act so passively normally, yet act almost completely differently in the Eva, not realizing that Atem (the spirit in the Eva, who Yugi may or may not be a younger long-lost clone of) has a measure of control of the Eva. A bit like a more platonic version of Asuka and Shinji.
Yugi and Anzu have feelings for each other, but both are too shy to admit it. This results in insecurity on both their parts, as both think their love is unrequited.
Bakura’s arc focuses on his own isolation and loneliness.
This is far from complete, as you can tell.
Okay new game!
Yu-Gi-Oh! AU but it’s like, just the farthest reach you can make
Here’s my entry: wishshipping Ball of Fire (1941). Yugi gets Gary Cooper’s role (Professor Bertram Potts) and the encyclopedia they’re compiling is, of course, focused on Duel Monsters (Yugi’s got the section on magicians). Jounouchi (although really he should be Joey for this because the Brooklyn accent is crucial) is Barbara Stanwyck (Katherine “Sugarpuss” O'Shea) laying low because of mob boss Joe Lilac Hirutani. The other researchers in the house are played by the other duelists like Mai, Bakura, Insector Haga and Dinosaur Ryuzaki (yeah they’re here too). And Ryota Kajiki, why not. Anzu is the housekeeper Miss Bragg but she’s more fun and better paid in my version because I say so. Pegasus is their financial backer Miss Totten but like, fun GX-era Pegasus, not original series actually-he’s-dead-now Pegasus (alternatively, it could be Kaiba). Jounouchi winds up getting to contribute to the encyclopedia, too, on the sections about gambling decks and criminal activity related to Duel Monsters (Marik’s TCG mafia gets a cameo).
If you’ve got a super unnecessary or implausible AU, please add!! Or an actually plausible AU with significant narrative parallels, I would love those too!

An aspect of my interpretation of Death-T is Seto was also trying to sabotage Kaiba Corporation itself---he was sabotaging everything.
Kaiba Corporation was like the phantom of his dead step-father and a kind of prison. The company was a chain to Gozaburo in Seto’s heart. And while this is a later reveal, it’s absolutely relevant: at Duelist Kingdom we discover five grown men surrounding Seto at this company were eager to wrest control from him and we also discover that Pegasus, his company’s new business partner and Seto’s flicker of hope to enter the gaming world, had already been using intimidation tactics on Seto. Seto is afraid here and Pegasus wanted him afraid:
This doesn’t excuse Death-T. But my reading is Seto was grieving for Gozuburo and at the same time he was repulsed by these feelings. Death-T was the bizarre manifestation of this storm of emotions: he was enacting Gozaburo’s teachings to an unhinged draconian extreme while simultaneously sabotaging the corporation Gozaburo shaped, the corporation Seto’s soul was sold for (Seto’s own words), and the corporation Seto (feels he) murdered Gozaburo for.
People joke about Kaiba Corporation’s investors being baffled by Death-T. For my interpretation, that was literally the point.

Slimebodies!
This post is for a bunch of fun history and anatomy stuff! In the Goo AU, I haven’t decided yet if there were natural slime people originally, but the googioh characters are actually using slime bodes as avatars of a sort. They’re created via various slimes, oozes, and gelatinous cubes, and various secret magic-science known only to the Kaiba Company.
Gozuburo Kaiba, a human merchant who had no problems dabbling in necromancy for his own gain, started out initially trying to make a new (or at least temporary) body for his dying son, Noa, but quickly veered off into using the research for soldiers/weapons that could live indefinitely and heal from almost any common battle wound - to be created en masse for the highest bidders. Noa’s mind and soul were uploaded with technomancy to an isolated machine in the back of a warehouse and forgotten until Gozuburo’s death, and his adopted son Seto Kaiba inherited all of his possessions and assets. Even though Seto is ridiculously competitive and appreciates a good fight, he detests anything resembling actual warfare and wants to use the technology and magicks to create rather than destroy.
Seto is a human technomancer Warlock, who’s magical sugardaddy is the lightning dragon goddess, Kisara. Mokuba is still in training. Their parents were killed in an avalanche, later discovered to be caused by one of Gozuburo’s weapons. The man adopted them after Seto showed off his intricate knowledge of electrical runes.
Seto goes back into the original slimebody research and tries to give Noa the body he was always meant to have. To do this he had to start the spells and potions over almost from scratch, trying to steer it away from necromancy and into artificery, and while doing so discovered that adding fruit extract made the bodies more stable and less.... unsettling, more sentient rather than living weapons or mindless beasts like they were under Gozuburo’s direction. The type of fruit didn’t seem to matter beyond what colour (and bizarrely, flavour) the resulting body had.
After this success (and with a new whiny, but clever, slimy, green-apple-and-mint brother in tow), Seto decided to do more test trials for others in need of a new (or spare) body. Along with everything else he was making in terms of technomagical supplies and creations, the Kaiba Company was rebranded into a force for good. The slimebodies could be used when traveling or doing work underwater or hazardous conditions, or for people who are in magically induced comas to promote healing or are unable to move, in order to keep their daily lives going and their minds healthy and active while their bodies rest. They’re especially handy for disembodied souls like Noa, though ghosts specifically seem to have a harder time possessing them than flesh-and-blood bodies.
Now we finally get to use the infographic up above! Here it is again:
Humans, elves, dwarves - Any of the races can use slimebodies, even non-humanoid ones, though the transition will be more difficult the farther away in similarity the body plans are. All you need is sentience and the ability to give consent (that last one isn’t technically necessary but Seto won’t do it without it unless it’s an absolute (medical) emergency and the affected party physically isn’t capable.) The comparisons here will all be to humans for simplicity’s sake.
1. Auricles - In place of both ears and noses, the auricles are little triangular protrusions on the side of the head, that sense vibrations (and thus sound), chemicals (smell), and also electricity. This makes them highly empathetic. All three of these senses are stronger than those humans have, but sensitivity to bad smells is much lower, and sensitivity to bad sounds is much higher.
Piercings aren’t permanent and will close up immediately upon removal of piercing jewellery, but they are easy and nearly harmless to redo. Jewellery and jewels can be simply stuck into or onto the bodies as well, and is a unique form of accessorizing available to the slimes (though I suppose one could glue jewels to the body, this is much more secure, and there’s no threat of sweat loosening the gems).
2. “Hair” - Nobody knows why, but the slime on top of the head seems to mimic hair growth, down to the specific hairstyle the embodied prefers. Mobuka’s answer is “It’s magic, dummy.” It can be changed as well, and sometimes even grows out the way actual hair would, but other times it doesn’t. Mokuba’s answer still holds. Long natural (A), cut/blunt end (B), short and spiky (C), and pulled back (D) styles can be seen here. For some reason - *coughmagiccough* - any “extra” flavours like mint or honey end up in the hair, as can be seen in Noa’s pale, minty bangs, and Yugi’s golden bangs.
3. Eyes - Slimes have vision nearly identical to humans, though they have no trouble seeing underwater without goggles, and with no limit to their pupil size, have a wider range of light they can see in. The main differences are in purple (or approaching purple) eyes, which can see in ultraviolet as well, and in red (or approaching red, like orange) eyes which can see in infrared. They don’t need to blink, and can see through their eyelids even though their irises are obscured from outside view. Blinking is just a residual habit or an emotional response.
4. Mouth - Slimes don’t have teeth. Not permanent, solid teeth, anyways. Hard ridges form in the mouth while eating or in response to emotion. While slimes technically can be able to taste (and eat) with their entire bodies, reminiscent of their oozy progenitors, it is something that they must actively concentrate to do. The mouth area and the tongue do these passively, and it’s more habitual for one to eat with their mouths and no, say, shove food directly into their digestive center. It’s also pretty rude to taste your friend when giving them a hug - you wouldn’t go up to your bestie and lick them, would you? Or would you...?
5. Organs - Or rather, lacktherof. Slimes breathe through their skin, much like frogs do, and can breathe in the air and underwater. Fresh water is preferred, but they are able to stay in salt water for quite a time as long as fresh drinking water is available. They also need to absorb a lot of light - slimes are capable of photosynthesis through the presence of chlorophyll (green-blue) and rhodopsin (red-purple). Due to this, slimes try to wear as little clothing as possible without feeling or appearing naked or inappropriately dressed. They do, and must, however, eat actual food. Anything from hamburgers to non-toxic minerals can be digested in the cores of slimebodies. Need to hide a corpse?
6. GenitaIs - Slimes only form temporary organs between their legs during certain times, which can be uncomfortable at first for those inhabiting the slimebodies. Others use this as the perfect excuse to forgo underwear.
7. Nails - While the ends of fingers and toes are firmer in order to function properly, there are no nails. Slimes that find this uncomfortable or just want to decorate themselves use stick-on nails (no glue required. While the sticking-to isn’t permanent, it’s more like semi-permanent, like a perfect vacuum seal.)
8. “Skin” - As you can see, slimebodies are overall semi-transparent and heavily tinted. Depending on the lighting, the position, and the slime, objects might show through the bodies clearly or be barely visible. While the outside has a shiny, slick appearance, to the touch the “skin” of a slimebody feels no different to an amphibian (or perhaps a damp, sweaty person). While slime droplets occasionally drip down or even off the body, not much is lost throughout the day, no more than a flesh-and-blood body loses from sweat, dead skin cells, and other passive loss. Slimes wear clothes and shoes not for concealment (though hiding the digestion process is considered polite), but to keep themselves clean, like any other being, though slimes tend to pick up much more lint than anyone else due to the constant slight moisture at the surface.
Mostly made of water, even more so than FnB bodies, slimebodies are immune to water attacks, strong to fire attacks, weak to ice attacks, and are immune to electric attacks as long as they have contact with the ground. Slashing attacks can cause damage, but unless it’s magical or elemental, the cuts will heal quickly and completely. Crushing attacks cause more damage and are hard to reform from, but it is possible.
In times of high, unstable emotion or high damage, the shape of the bodies way denature temporarily and turn partially or entirely into a slimy puddle. This is reversible, and not harmful in and of itself, but it will certainly feel very, very strange. Should a body be cut in half, the two halves can either be cleaved back together, or the bigger half will reform into a new body with rest and food. The bodies can stretch and melt through conscious effort as well, and many slimes can even be seen “melting into each other” during particularly snuggly hugs. Any foreign residue will eventually be converted or replaced by the original slime, so any colour or flavour changes are not permanent.
The way young Yugi came to inhabit a slimebody is quite an adventure. The short-ish version is this:
Sugoroku Mutou in his youth was a human adventurer, a budding merchant-slash-warrior that would go on quests for rare, expensive items, either for a wealthy client or to expand his own collection. Whilst in Fantasy Egypt looking for an ancient cursed game board (the very one he would later use against Mr. Otogi, an eladrin bard), he stumbled into a lost tomb. From what he could tell, it was the tomb of an Aasimar prince, 3000 years gone, and yet the only thing in the burial chamber was a box on a pedestal, and you know the story from there...
A powerful, but gentle presence urged Sugoroku to take the box, filled with what appeared to be a magical, solid-gold three-dimensional puzzle out of the tomb and back home. Having had many, many, MANY experiences with cursed objects, Sugoroku could tell this thing was deeply and powerfully cursed, but not in potentia, the trap had already been sprung long ago. There was no danger, here, just a lot of loneliness.
He returned home and kept the box shut, having given up on solving the puzzle himself after a few decades, got married, had a kid, his son got married to a spritely elf, and they, too, had a son, all before the puzzle was even thought of again.
Yugi, a half-elf with the makings of a great hero, solves the puzzle one year after finding it at age 7, and he suddenly has a second shadow. The shadow is always there, though sometimes it hides in his real shadow, and it does its best to protect Yugi throughout the years. Slowly, ever so slowly, the shadow gains sentience, and sometimes Yugi sees the shape of smiling eyes, and Yugi always smiles back.
On Yugi’s sixteenth birthday, several years into his magical training, he can suddenly hear his shadow friend’s voice, and his friend can possess his body, and everyone realises that this poor ghost has been trapped sealed in this piece of metal for millennia. He doesn’t even remember his own name.
Yugi decides to set off on a quest to discover his friend’s past and try to find something to help him, but Mr. Otogi shows up to exact his revenge before he even gets the chance to ask his friends along on the quest. Yugi’s body is burnt to ashes, but his shadow clings to his soul and hides it in the puzzle alongside his own.
Seto hears about what happened, and Jounouchi is the one to suggest that Yugi might be in the puzzle with his shadow friend, and Seto makes them both slimebodies and hopes for the best. It’s a huge adjustment for everyone, especially poor Atem, suddenly in a body, remembering scraps of his past thanks to Yugi’s brief presence in the puzzle. Unlike the other slimes, Atem can’t stay in his body unless the puzzle is encased in the goop - why is he so different?
The slimebodies were always intended to be temporary, and now with three different people in need of new, actual flesh-and-blood bodies, their adventures are only beginning. What - there are other ways to create slimebodies? Somebody is trying to compete with Kaiba Co? There are groups calling this blasphemy? Must they foray into necromancy in order to return Yugi, Atem, and Noa to their actual bodies? Who cursed Atem in the first place? What caused the lost prince to become lost? There are other cursed golden items with souls hidden inside? Why does Seto choose everyone’s fruit so carefully? It’s because he’s gay

The girl a d the dragon
I don't own Yugioh or it's characters or Beauty and the beast
Chapter 8
Kaiba was up in his tower, sitting on the sill of the open window, his gaze fixed on the setting sun. A cold breeze blew through the air, flowing over his skin and scales. It was nearing the end of Autumn and the chill of Winter was starting to set in which meant that the dragonoid’s birthday would soon be upon them…less than a month to be specific…which meant the return of the witch who had cursed them years ago…promising to seal not only his fate but everyone else in the castle.
Kaiba glanced at the magical rose out of the corner of his eye, another petal falling from the bud. If he were being honest with himself the curse had never really been a thing that occupied his mind…he had let his rage and greed consume his mind for the last 5 years, doing nothing but brood day after day…blaming the world and everyone in it for what had happened to him…
He felt like he had been lost in a fog, feeling threatened by anyone that dared to step foot near the castle, the voice of greed and anger screaming at him that he need to protect what was his…Gozuburo’s teachings and words a firm reminder that the world would only take what belonged to him if he didn’t defend it...and so he slaughtered anyone that dared to steal from him…
But now…now it felt like the fog was starting to slowly lift as the only thing that filled his head were those bright blue eyes that faced him not so long ago. In all the people that had dared to make their way into the palace he had seen nothing but fear and greed, terror and disgust. He relished in it, fed of it as it made him feel powerful and yet hated at the same time, reminding himself that he was nothing more than a monster now…that it was all he would ever be.
But the woman…Serena…she didn’t look at him that way…she held no fear in her eyes for him…no disgust or hatred…no what he saw in those beautiful blue eyes was determination and maybe even amazement, fear not for him but for her loved ones, her family. Even when she was begging for her grandfather’s life she hadn’t been afraid of him…
It made his mind and heart feel…strange…and for the first time since his parents passed so long did he feel a hint of remorse for his actions…which he didn’t like one bit. It made him feel weak and pathetic for feeling this way. Nothing good would come from caring about someone else. He would only end up being betrayed and hurt, his belongs stolen from him and he would be made a fool of. And he was not going to risk it.
His hands slowly curled into fists the more intrusive thoughts entered his mind, the anger and hatred fog building up in his mind again, telling him he should march straight back to the woman’s room and slice open her throat, standing over her and laughing as she bleeds out. Then he should take her corpse and deliver it to her family, letting them see the horror before slaughtering them too…the blood on his claws and teeth as he tore them apart…the satisfaction of their suffering…
He winced as when a felt a sharp sting in the palms of his hands, one of the place that had remained as human skin. He uncurled his fists and saw a few shallow wounds caused by his claws that had pierced his skin, his eyes following the beads of blood that had started to seep from the holes…like someone had taken a needle and pricked his hand a few times. The pain was brief as the wounds weren’t that deep…
The cuts he made on Serena’s arm weren’t…they had been deep and bleed profusely when he sliced her skin. He felt an uncomfortable lump form in his throat as her pained screams ring in his ears as he marked her as his…why did he do it? He killed people…he didn’t…he wouldn’t torture them. Rip them apart sure but never…this.
Was it the heat of the moment? Did he want to get back at her for fighting him and defying him? Or did he do it so that she would look at him with fear like all the others had? He let out a sigh as he looked back at his destroyed room or rather the room he had chosen to live in since the curse…his original bedroom was in the west wing of the castle…he hadn’t set foot in it for 5 years…the only person who was allowed there besides himself was his little brother…
Speaking of which…
The sound of small wings fluttering fills his ears and Kaiba rubs his forehead as he sighs again, “What do you want Mokuba?” he pinks a discarded piece of cloth to wipe the blood from his palms.
The younger Kaiba brother stood in the door, his eyes on his brother. Just like Seto he had been transformed into a dragon like creature, looking almost identical except he was must smaller. He was between 12 and 13 now but still looked like he was 8 or 9…a side effect of the curse.
Unlike Seto, Mokuba didn’t isolate himself from the others in the castle, spending his days trying to make friends and help anyone he could. At first the others were hesitant and tried to avoid him considering who his brother was but after some time they saw that he was more reasonable and kind. He wore a smile on his face and tried to remain positive despite their predicament. Everyone seemed to like him, especially Mana. The two of them were close in age and spent a lot of time together, trying to avoid the aura of loneliness that had fallen over the castle.
Mokuba was the only person that Seto didn’t snap at, though he ignored the young boy from time to time when he wanted to be left alone. Still determined to get his brother back after the years they had been separated by their uncle, the youngest Kaiba tried everything to get his brother to open up or at least talk to him but Seto avoided those topics of conversation and would lock himself away in his tower. But his little brother still had hope, holding on to it, the love he had for his big brother keeping it alive as he believed Seto could still have a happy life…he could still smile.
The smaller dragonoid fiddled with his fingers as he rocked on his feet, looking at his big brother, “Um…I guess I came to check up on you…” Kaiba raised a brow as he glanced back at Mokuba, not believing it for a second, “Is that so?” he turned his attention back to cleaning his hands, inspecting his claws. Mokuba was quiet for a long moment before eventually speaking up, “Mana and Jou mentioned that we had a special guest…staying with us…”
Kaiba rolled his eyes as he tossed the cloth aside and walked over to the window again, “What of it?” he sits on the windowsill as he looks up at the darkening sky that was slowly filling the stars. Mokuba slowly walked over to him, standing beside him as he leaned against the windowsill, following his brother’s gaze, “Why?” Kaiba closed his eyes as he rolled his head back to rest against the wall, “She was trespassing and now she’s my prisoner…” Mokuba’s frowned, “So why does she have a room? Normally you…You know…” Kaiba opened his eyes slightly to look at his brother, “I what?” the little brother swallowed the lump in his throat. He was well aware of Kaiba’s violent nature towards intruders…it was one of the things that terrified the young boy.
“You normally get rid of them…you don’t give them a bed to sleep in or treat their injuries or give them food…” he twirled his fingers. He had been shocked when Mana had told him all this, his friend explaining what she knew about what was going on, how the woman had arrived with her brother to search for their grandfather and that Kaiba and sent them home while the woman stayed behind. Honestly he was relieved at this and fuelled his hope as his brother had shown a different part of himself…he had shown that he could still care…
Kaiba closes his eyes again, “I didn’t feed her or treat her...I gave that duty to someone else.”
“But why? Why did you do it? Why didn’t you just…you know…like you always do?”
That was the same question Kaiba had been asking himself since Serena had made the deal with him. A question that was starting to get on his nerves, “Does it matter?”
“It kinda does…you never do this…why the change of heart?” there was a slight cheerfulness on his voice. Kaiba didn’t answer him this time as he didn’t know how to respond, his annoyance starting to rise to the surface. Maybe if he ignored Mokuba long enough the boy would leave him alone and he could figure out the questions but then his little brother asked something he didn’t expect, “Do you think she can help break the curse?”
Kaiba’s eyes opened as he let out a growl. He hated it whenever someone brought up the curse especially his little brother…looking at him and seeing his wings and scales reminded him of his failure to protect him and end up in this predicament…that because of his actions he had turned Mokuba into a monster and forced him to remain isolated in this damn castle for years…stealing away his freedom and childhood just as his own was stolen from him.
“She is a prisoner and that is it!” he snarls as he leaves the window, deciding to leave the room since Mokuba didn’t want to. But the boy followed him, his persistence starting to get on his nerves, “But that’s not it! I know it’s not! If it was you would’ve left her to die.” They headed into the hallway, Kaiba walking faster as he was trying his best to keep in the anger inside him as despite everything he refused to lash out at his brother, “Can you just drop the matter?”
Mokuba let out a groan of frustration and flapped his wings, flying into the air and heading towards his brother, floating in front of him, forcing him to stop, “No I can’t because I want to know what’s going on with you. It’s been years since you’ve shown any emotion besides rage…and being an ass towards everyone around you.” Sadness filled his eyes, “The brother I thought was gone…the one I’ve been trying to get back for years…I believe he’s still inside you somewhere…I believe that uncle didn’t destroy all of him. And seeing you care about someone else proves that!” tears formed in his eyes which made Kaiba’s heart ache something fierce…
Mokuba slowly sank to the floor, landing softly, “I know it’s been hard for you since mom and dad died…and it was even worse when uncle came to live with us…I know what he did to you…and it hurt to see it and hurt even more when I couldn’t help you…I thought I had lost you but--” he was cut off when Seto kneeled down in front of him and did something unexpected…he wrapped his arms around his little brother and hugged him tightly. Mokuba’s eyes went wide for a moment as a single tear ran down his cheek before hugging his big brother back, clinging to him tightly.
He had missed this, Seto hadn’t held him like this since the day they buried their parents. A feeling of safety and warmth filled him as more tears ran down his cheeks. Seto didn’t say a word, his mind filled with so many thoughts as the rage and annoyance he had been feeling slowly faded, replaced with regret and concern…but also fear…these emotions were weakness…they were a curse...and he should blame that woman for this…her arrival had messed him up and yet he couldn’t help but be grateful for it although he didn’t know why…
Maybe there was a chance that the curse could be broken but he had already given up hope for that a long time ago…
Serena was sitting in her room alone again, her fingers running over the patterns on her blanket trying to distract her mind from everything that was going on. Ryou had been there earlier to check on her and had removed the bandages from her head, stating that the wound was closing up nicely and didn’t need to be covered anymore while the cuts on her wrists would still need to be wrapped up for a while as they were rather deep. He had said that he would prepare a bath for her so she could wash up properly.
He had been nice to her, Mana and her gang of puff balls had also visited her, wanting to see how Serena was doing. As annoying as the girl was (she wouldn’t not shut up with her questions), it was nice to have the company, and it made the raven haired woman feel a little less lonely. The magician girl kept mentioning a brother that Serena had yet to meet, Mana stating that he tended to disappear from time to time (going to the village most likely but Mana kept that to herself).
The beast had yet to make an appearance and Serena didn’t know if she felt happy or worried about that fact. She didn’t know what he was going to do with her or what he wanted. He had been frightening when she first encountered him but she was more afraid for her grandfather’s safety than the beast itself…in all honesty she had been more mystified by him than anything else…beautiful even with his white scales and piercing blue eyes…he was ferocious when she fought against him, his movements were fast and yet elegant despite his monstrous nature.
A part of her was curious about what was going on here, all the mystical people she had met and what happened to this castle. She tried to ask Ryou about it but the white haired man didn’t answer her, simply saying that it wasn’t his place to say…Mana was even worse as she tried to change the subject.
She wanted answers and she suspected she would only get it from the beast that had imprisoned her…but she doubted he would be happy with her asking him such questions…and considering what he had done to her she didn’t want to anger him…
She was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the fluttering of feathers outside her door…thinking it was Ryou coming to fetch her for her bath but instead someone else stood in the doorway when it opened.
A woman with long blond hair tied back in an intricate style, her purple eyes were adorned with make-up, dressed in a strange purple dress that extenuated her breasts and hips as it was rather tight fitting, a slit running from the top of her thigh, exposing her legs which were…that of a bird…her arms had were covered with long feathers that formed wings and her hands were claws. She had a grin on her face as she looked Serena up and down, “My my, so you’re the little lady that has the castle buzzing with gossip.”
She strolled over to Serena, swaying her hips as the other woman tensed up, “Who…who are you?” the harpy like lady chuckled softly, “My name is Mai Valentine, renowned actress and fashion designer in England…or at least I was before being trapped her.” she let out a humph as she flipped a few strands of her hair out of face that had come undone. Serena wanted to ask what she meant but the lady had reached her side and helped her out of bed, “But you are going to help us all with that predicament. Now let’s get you cleaned up and dressed for dinner. Master Kaiba’s orders.”
Serena’s eyes widened as she pulled away stumbling back a little, “WH-what are you talking about?” Mai shook her head as she sighed, “Look darling, I know this is all strange to you and I am sorry that you are in this situation. Believe me, we’ve all be cursed to roam these halls under the rule of the big beasty. But maybe you would could help as all…so I would suggest you come along…Master Kaiba has instructed dinner to be prepared for the two of you…”
This all made Serena even more confused as she took another step back, “I-I don’t understand…why would he…I-I’m supposed to be his prisoner…why…” Mai’s expression softened, she could see the confusion on the others face and could understand how strange this must all be for her, she took a step closer and rested her hand on Serena’s shoulder, feeling her go tense, “I wish I could explain everything but it is not my place…but if there is one piece of advice I can give you, it would be to do as your told…unless you want to incur his wrath…” she took a step back, “I’m surprised he didn’t kill you to begin with. Now come along…”
Serena felt a shudder go through her at Mai’s words…she wanted to refuse but…maybe she could get some answers…and maybe if she was lucky she could find out if Kaiba kept up his end of the deal…
Kaiba was seated at the head of the large dining table, its surface covered in food that Melvin had spent the last while preparing. The dining hall had been cleaned and the furniture repaired (helps when the maid could wield magic). He was leaned back in the grand chair, tapping his claws impatiently on the wood, thinking that this was a stupid plan…
After his encounter with Mokuba he had decided that maybe trying to break the curse wasn’t a bad plan…he could free himself and his brother and they could leave this place…finding a home somewhere else away from all this bad memories that these walls held. They could forget about everything and start over…but how was he going to do this? The hag had said that he needed to get someone to love him and in return he needed to love them back which was honestly a rather stupid thing. He gave up on finding love a long time ago. It was a ridicules thing that guided humans to help them reproduce.
Sure his parents had found love but it was love that caused his mother to take her own life when his father perished. His sharp claws dug into wood of the table, he didn’t like thinking of his parents, it brought back nothing but bad memories and grief that he preferred to keep locked away deep inside him…
Love caused nothing but pain and suffering…and if he couldn’t meet the hags demands well then he could always kill her when she returned and maybe that would be enough to return himself and everyone to normal…
He was so deep in thought that he didn’t hear the doors of the dining room open. But when he finally look up his breath was caught in his throat…in the door way stood Serena, dressed in long deep blue dress that reached just above her ankles. The sleeves hung off her shoulders, her upper chest and collar bones exposed as well as her beautiful pale skin…a black corset was fastened around her waist with silver leaves sown into the material,…her ebony hair was tied in a lose braid that hung over her right shoulder…her eyes had a slight dusting of make-up that made her bright blue eyes stand out…her lips a deep shade of red…
The only word Seto could use to describe her was…breath-taking…
A strange feeling warmed its way into his heart and his mind had hit a blank…until his eyes landed on the bandage around her forearm and look of confusion and distain in her eyes…pulling the dragonoid free from whatever spell Serena had put on him…

headcanon masterpost 1 (Seto Kaiba)
under the cut bc im a big baby hgfjsk
it’s not like as if ANY ygo characters look REMOTELY fully japanese lmao, but I like to imagine the kaiba brothers to be maybe half greek/eurasian. The difference in looks in both siblings has always interested me. Greek features was just the first one that logically came to mind when i see their features + with the whole Egyptian reincarnations (although reincarnations don’t really mean ancestral). I don’t think theyd be too familiar with greek culture, but maybe they’d miss a nice food dish here and there.
Seto Kaiba wears Chanel Bleu.
I don’t think kaiba initially had any pride in Kaibacorp, even after re-branding it. He probably had pride in taking over it, but i think he may have used it as a tool just for his own personal agendas rather than aspiring to make it an amazing company. If there was any reason to make KC amazing it was so that it would make his own image look good. It probably took him some time to remind him that Gozuburo’s gone, and that he should like, be proud of his own efforts and make the company his own, and to make a better workplace with better values (aka values that isnt like, war)
“Secret Reading Glasses Because I Don’t Want the World to Know That I’m Not Perfect” Seto Kaiba
1 drink Kaiba can tolerate the presence of people.
2 drinks Kaiba brags a bit more than usual.
3 drinks Kaiba looks in the mirror for a tad too long because “god, i look amazing”
3.5 drinks Kaiba laughs VERY LOUDLY at his own jokes (which are mainly solid burns and insults)
4 drinks Kaiba dies down a little, craves sweet things and wants to touch Joeys hair.
5 drinks Kaiba begins rolling inebriated confessions, doubts and backhanded compliments. “Maybe if you actually groomed this ratty mop on your head that you call hair, wheeler, you might actually look like a model.” “Yugi, you are very small, but a very, very good duelist. You won’t knock your head on doors. I’m jealous. ”
5.5 drinks Kaiba is impulse buying and the rich smug on his face actually turns into a goofy smile. He is back home now. Where is his tiny brother. He is so proud of him he wants to tell him that and repeat it for 10 minutes and then cry about all the things he’s made Mokuba go through. He feels haunted by the traits of Gozaburo that he sees in himself he doesn’t know how to completely get rid of him and he knows he never will. He sits outside the courtyard.
6th drink finally hits Kaiba and he realizes that his body has only had 4 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours and knocks out.
#yugioh#text post#ygo#seto kaiba#hcs#headcanons#the britney hc is a crack hc but he probably secretly has at least 1 (one) playlist with work b**** on it

Fun fact! The characters in Anzu’s name, when read in Japanese, can be read as Kyoko! Which is why the Hong Kong subs will sometimes mention a “Kyoko” when there is no such character in the series!
Other characters whose names trip up bad translations are Yugi (whose name means “game,” so the Hong Kong subtitles will mistranslate sentences so they mention games even when the context is about Yugi but has nothing to do with games) and Kaiba (whose last name literally means “sea horse,” so the Hong Kong subtitles do call him “Sea Horse” sometimes, with the exception of Mokuba, and maybe or maybe not Gozuburo and Noah, if that version goes that far).
4Kids names in Google Translate, Part 4: Female Main Characters
Every Yu-Gi-Oh! series has got that one most important female character. And 4Kids has hit every single one with a name change. Let’s see what Google Translate makes of it.
First is Anzu. I would think that the OG main female character would definitely work, but…no? That’s the wrong reading… (Original: Anzu Masaki | 4Kids: Téa Gardner)
How about Asuka? She was an important character, so let’s see what Google Translate does. (Original: Asuka Tenjoin | 4Kids: Alexis Rhodes)
Aki is next. How will this go? (Original: Aki Izayoi | 4Kids: Akiza Izinski)
Kotori is…well, for someone who can’t duel at all except that one time when she got possessed, she is surprisingly important to the plot. But does Google Translate care? (Original: Kotori Mizuki | 4Kids: Tori Meadows)
I’m noticing a pattern here…ARC-V and VRAINS names don’t seem to work? Interesting. Yuzu is no exception to this. It doesn’t even flip. (Original: Yuzu Hiiragi | 4Kids: Zuzu Boyle)
Google Translate doesn’t seem to care about Aoi, either. (Original: Aoi Zaizen | 4Kids: Skye Zaizen)
Next is villains! I might split that into 2 parts.
Part 3 Part 5
