yall goyim need to understand that antisemitism isnt just people being mean online and Ms. JK transphobia rowling having antisemitic tropes in her books. This is shit that happens online of course, just like any other form of bigotry, but it also happens to us in real life. antisemitic incidents can include, but arent limited to:
Defacing jewish symbols
Grafitti of antisemitic symbols
Insults appearances
Using antisemitic slurs
Stalking
Workplace discrimination
Housing discrimination
Education discrimination
Discrimination in mental health spaces
Discrimination in physical health spaces
General attacks on synagogues, chabad centers, and other jewish gatherings
Increased attacks on jewish gatherings during the high holidays
Bomb threats
Shooting threats (this may be a USA specific one if it is please let me know)
Sexual harassment
Sexual assault
Rape
Stabbings
Beatings
Bullying (physical, emotional, sexual)
Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
Being called pedophiles, rapists, baby killers, nazis, etc. (simply for being jewish not because we have shown any signs we are those things)
Insults based on various antisemitic tropes (blood libel, dual loyalty, Jews controlling the world, etc.)
doxxing
threatening family members and friends
property damage
a lot of other physical violence I didn't mention
targeting of jewish community leaders (esp rabbis)
isolation from the goyische world
chased out of our homes
forcing jews to assimilate
murder
desecrating jewish graves
mocking jews who have died
refusing to believe jewish victims of sexual assault
kidnapping
and probably more that i forgot! if you have anything to add and you're jewish pls do so
these are not rare occurences at all. I have had well over half of these happen to me personally or to a jew that i am very very close to, and I at least distantly know another jew who has experienced one of the others. This is a fucking terrifying thing to deal with and yall don't need to get it but you need to try to understand how bad it can get for us

Just a reminder: calling Jews "pigs" is "an allusion to the fundamentalist antisemitic slur that Jews are descendants of apes or pigs."
Prefacing it with "zionist," as in, "Fuck you, zionist pig," does not give you plausible deniability.
Real-life examples of its usage, from the Telegram account for Hamas & its associated groups:
October 6, 2023, 1¼ hours before Hamas officially began its Al-Aqsa Flood massacre: (warning, that link shares extremely graphic details)

I'm gonna be honest here: one of the more exhausting parts of the online discourse is how much of a tightrope I am always on, that those of us who care about human rights for all human beings are always on, because any statement made in favor of the "other" side is ripe for tokenism.
I, as a Jew, care about the safety and human rights of Palestinians and Arab Israelis. You will never convince me that there is an ethical way to kill civilians, especially children. You will never convince me that police brutality against citizens marching for their civil rights is necessary. You just can't. And yet I have to be so careful when/where I say that and how I say that, because too often this simple acknowledgement that all people are created in the image of Hashem and should be treated accordingly is ripped out of context and placed between a deluge of other posts denying my people that very same acknowledgement. The number of times I have said these things, only to go into the reblogs and see my words surrounded on all sides with violent antisemitism? I've lost count.
And guess what? It's made me less effective as an advocate, it has actively silenced me from speaking up sometimes, because I refuse to be your "good Jew," your token, somebody whose words can be misconstrued to kasher your vile hatred of my people. And to be very clear: Jewish Israelis are my people just as much as fellow diaspora yidden are, and they deserve better from both goyim and diaspora Jews alike.
And I've seen this go the other way, too: I've seen Palestinian activists and journalists who are trying very hard to balance the values of respecting other people (including Israelis and/or Jews writ large) as fellow human beings with the pain that their people are currently suffering. And I've seen their words ripped out of context and used to excuse more violence against them and their people.
And then there are lots of other people - genuinely well-intentioned people who are trying to learn from me - who keep treating me like I'm some paragon of nuance. I'm trying, truly, but I'm Just Some Guy. You know what I do? It's extremely simple and I promise you can do it too, any of you, if you slow down long enough to think before putting anything out there: "Would I say this about my brother? My mom? My daughter? My people? Would I be happy if the person I loved most on this earth was living under these circumstances and being talked about in whatever way I'm about to speak? Would it feel victim-blaming? Would it feel disrespectful of their struggle or dishonest? Does it ignore their history or trauma? Is it actually helping?" These are the types of questions I try very hard to ask myself every time I post about the conflict, about both sides. I try to talk about this as if the people on both sides were my family. Because truthfully? They are. Am Yisrael is a family, before anything else. Palestinians are our closest cousins. This war is a bloodbath and a tragedy, and everyone is suffering. For those of us who are not living there, please remember this and have some respect.

Helpful lists of questions for goyim when it comes to engaging with the Israel-Hamas war 🙂
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF WHEN A POST ABOUT THE ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR CROSSES YOUR DASH AND YOU WANT TO REBLOG IT:
Does this post link to a source?
If the post does link to a source, is it a credible one?
If the post does not link to a source, is there one screenshotted in the post that you can find? If so, please search out that source and read the entire thing in context. And make sure the source is credible. Ideally, if you decide to reblog it, add a link to the source.
Is the post just screenshots of tweets? If so, you probably should not reblog this. Posts that are just screenshots of tweets are a massive red flag. Do not believe something because it's a twitter screenshot. Frankly this rule is for everyone about everything all the time.
What is the tone of the post? Does it make you angry? If yes, this is a red flag. Exercise caution reblogging.
Does the post frame Israel as a uniquely evil country in need of destruction? Does the post treat Israel with different standards than those that are applied to every other country that has done horrible, horrible things, such as Russia, the UK, or United States? This is a red flag. If the government of Israel falls without some sort of transition plan, there will be Jewish genocide. Anyone advocating for a one-state solution either way is advocating for one group to get genocided. A two-state solution is the only possible peaceful end to this conflict (technically my opinion but I feel comfy stating it as fact).
Does the post treat Hamas as anything other than a terrorist organization? Do not reblog.
Is the post promoting Jewish Voice for Peace/JVP? Do not reblog. That organization is not Jewish and is antisemitic.
What is the focus of the content of the post? Is the post discussing reasonable paths to a ceasefire/peace? Is the post criticizing Israel's actions without using antisemitic stereotypes? Netanyahu is a disgusting fascist who I hate, but even though he is a terrible person you are not allowed to portray him as an antisemitic caricature. Similar to how you don't get to misgender shitty trans people, you don't get to be antisemitic towards shitty Jewish people (even if he's really, really shitty).
How does the post use the word "zionist?" Does the word have any coherent meaning in the post besides "person (often Jew) that I hate?" Does it treat zionists as a group of people who are disgusting and deserve to be murdered and/or raped? Does the use of the word "zionist" completely dehumanize the person/people the label is applied to into nothing more than evil that the Earth must be rid of? This is antisemitic. Do not reblog.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE AT A PRO-PALESTINE PROTEST:
Are people chanting antisemitic slogans such as "globalize the intifada" and/or "from the river to the sea" (these are both antisemitic you cannot remove the antisemitic meaning from them, they are both advocating for the murder of Jewish people, sorry, stop using them.)?
Are people comparing themselves to Palestinians in Gaza? (this is not a joke, I saw a video of a Columbia student who compared Columbia sending out fliers to leave or be suspended to the IDF dropping flyers in Gaza saying "the army is coming in 24 hours.") If so, they care more about fetishizing Palestinian pain and making themselves feel like noble victims than the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Are people harassing Jews? This includes: preventing them from getting to class, yelling things at them like "go back to Poland," and/or physically assaulting them.
Are people defacing Jewish property/monuments? Are people defacing synagogues? Businesses with known Jewish owners? Statues and/or memorials of/for Jews?
What is the purpose of this protest? Would you feel comfortable sharing opinions that differ from the majority? Would you feel comfortable engaging in a conversation about this issue with fellow protesters? Are any of you actually educated on the complicated and lengthy history of the Israel-Palestine conflict? Is the protest about a peaceful solution, or is it just making you angrier and/or more upset? Does the protest/your fellow protestors care more about freeing Palestine so that Palestinians and Israelis can live in peace, or about hating Israel and treating it like a uniquely evil country?
If people are chanting antisemitic slogans, harassing Jews, and/or defacing Jewish things, then this is an antisemitic protest. Do you want to be associated with these people and this protest? If your answer is yes, you are an antisemite-sympathizer, which is basically an antisemite.
MORAL OF THE STORY: antisemitism is all over this issue and it's easy to get more antisemitic and spread antisemitism because bad actors use this issue to indoctrinate people who start off just genuinely caring about the issue but are not educated at all about it or what antisemitism actually looks like. BE CAREFUL. All Jews want, all we've ever wanted, is to be left alone to do our thing. Random Jews are not at fault for the horrific actions taken by the Israeli government since the terrorist attack on October 7th. We support the existence of Israel, but we do not support all of the current government's actions. We are just trying to live. We want there to be a ceasefire now. If you actually read this whole thing, thank you. It means a lot to be listened to.
For those of you that made it to the end, I'll offer one last reminder and one last gentle suggestion.
My last reminder is: "it is not your job to finish the work by neither are you free to ignore it" is a Jewish passage I really like. I think in times like these, it is important to focus on the first half. It is not your job to finish the work. The fate of Palestine does not rest on your shoulders. It's ok. Take time to decompress and log off.
My last suggestion is: one of the biggest Jewish values is "tikkun olam," which means "repairing the world." I think all action when it comes to this conflict (and life in general) should be done with tikkun olam in mind. It doesn't hurt to ask yourself "is this action repairing the world, or further tearing it apart?" no matter what you're doing. Thank you for reading.

hey, anyone heard of Jews for Jesus (i.e. Christians pretending to be Jewish for evangelical purposes) going door to door asking for info about the local Jewish community?
There's apparently a couple dudes in kippot doing just that in upper lower Michigan -- where I'm originally from -- and I'm trying to figure out how concerned I should be for my old community.
J4Js suck but can be dealt with. But if these are assholes gearing up for some hate crimes I've got folks I'd like to warn.
(Please reblog, add comments if you have insight!)
(for the goyim: there is absolutely zero chance that they were actual Jews. We don't go door to door for a lot of reasons, including that it generally is not safe for us to be publicly Jewish in my country)

Shalom!! Welcome to @jewish-culture-is, a blog dedicated to celebrating, talking about, and occasionally complaining about jewish culture! This blog receives submissions in the form of both asks and submissions, and operates on a queue system. Currently, the queue is set to post four times a day.
about me: I am a pro endogenic system, so by nature this blog is pro endogenic systems. if that makes you uncomfortable, you can just leave. he/him or they/them are fine for us collectively. we consider ourselves trans and sapphic. we're also alterhuman and love our fellow alterhumans.
ALL kinds of jews are welcome here, regardless of how you feel you identify with the term -- secular, non secular, orthodox, reform, converted/in the process of converting, and any other jew is welcome here! If you aren't jewish and just want to learn about jewish culture, you're welcome here too!
please if you are not jewish/do not identify with judaism, do not submit a post here. I obviously won't be stalking your page to figure out if you are or are not jewish, I just trust you're going to be normal about it. goyim are welcome to reblog posts, as long as you're being respectful.
things I will not be posting include but are not limited to any antisemitic asks, which will get deleted. please also refrain from discussing the israeli-palestinian war. nsfw submissions are allowed, and will be tagged as such so they can be avoided by people who do not wish to see them, but that is not the primary purpose of this blog.
all submissions should start with "jewish culture is" and then a statement. this can be lighthearted or entirely serious! discussions are welcome and encouraged under any posts. I reserve the right to delete/not post any ask or submission that I receive for any reason.
if anything that isn't a jewish culture post is submitted and I feel it should be posted anyway, or if I make a post on this blog that isn't a jewish culture thing, it'll be tagged with #not jewish culture. important blog related things will also be tagged with #important
check out @jewish-vents for more jewish content; I would prefer if you sent your vents to jewish-vents, and will probably stop posting them here because of the existence of that blog. thank you! for any jews in fandoms, especially artists or writers, check out @jewsinfandoms (they have their own rules, please be mindful of that)!
feel free to send me cat (or any other pet) pictures! all pet pictures even if they aren't cats will be tagged with #cats, and then their respective animal if they aren't actually cats (:
thank you for being here, and reading this far! shalom!!

hello! I hope this question isn’t overstepping, but feel free to delete this if so! I just wanted to know if there’s anything I can really do to help Jewish people at this time? The way I phrased that sounds really weird and bad lol sorry, but idk how else to say it. I’m gonna be honest with you, I actually know almost next to nothing about Jewish people (culture, religion and stuff) outside of what I was taught when I was an evangelical Christian (grew up religious, I’m not anymore) and you… probably don’t wanna hear what evangelical Christians teach people about Jewish people and culture, so I’ll just say that it’s very… unsavoury and weird and sort of fetish-ey. But you probably knew that already. Anyway, what I mean is that since October 7th, there’s been a huge rise of antisemitism globally, mostly by the youth, people around my age (I’m 18) being indoctrinated by media and directing their hatred and anger towards those who do not deserve it and refusing to fight or vote for the rights that we Americans might lose if trump is elected again. I wanna help stop or curb the antisemitism spread, but I’m kind of unsure how I can help. Obviously I’m aware that as a goyim, I definitely cannot, should not (and will not) speak for Jewish people as I don’t know the Jewish experience. I’m also aware that while the Israeli government is kind of wilding out right now, the government is not the representative of all the citizens of Israel and that when criticising Israel (the state) we must not generalise a whole population of people. Thank you!
this is a great question to ask! I don’t feel like it’s overstepping at all.
I’m not sure what more can be done to stop the spread of antisemitism beyond calling it out when you see it either from friends, family, or figures and orgs, and not participating in it yourself. you can, however, help jewish people while this is happening. you can reach out to local synagogues and see if they need any volunteers to help walk jews to and from their cars for security (if you’re able/willing), contact local jewish organizations and see if they need any volunteers or donations, and just see what kind of community action you can do in your area. if you can do so monetarily, you can support gofundme’s and orgs combating antisemitism on a larger scale like Stop Jewish Hate, or you can support them just by sharing their posts on your socials. museums are being targeted right now for having any jewish related exhibits, such as the Holocaust Museum and members of the Brooklyn Museum were just attacked, both establishments could use donations and advocacy.
jewitches.com has resources to learn about antisemitism if you’d like to be further educated on the topic so you know what you’re seeing when you see it, as well as help you call it out when you come across it online or in real life.
if anyone else has more resources for learning or combating antisemitism, please add and I’ll reblog!

Hiya, same gentile Anon who sent the ask about Kippot (Kippot is the plural form of kippah right?) and Trump. I've got a bit of a tough question.
It's easy to call out other gentiles / goyim who are being Antisemitic, using Zionist as a dog whistle, spreading disinformation, etc etc. But how does someone who isn't Jewish go about calling out and correcting the same kind of stuff when it's coming from other Jewish people*?
Such as “Please reblog these posts about Antisemitism, OP isn't a Zionist so it's okay to reblog” and “Don't support this Jewish creator because they're a Zionist, the rest of us [Jewish people] have our humanity intact” and other dehumanizing (or iffy) rhetoric directed towards other Jewish people (whether they actually identify as a Zionist or not, regardless of what specific branch of Zionism they believe in, etc).
My typical go-to is to put people on blast, say they're using dog whistles, call them out for dehumanizing others. But what's the guidelines when the person saying dehumanizing things to a Jewish person is also a Jew?
*I know some people will call out some so-called Jewish tumblrs as racefakers/racefaking, but I'm not exactly qualified to go around lobbing serious accusations like that. And even if I was pretty confident that someone was lying? I still wouldn't say that because 1) It's really not my place and 2) feels very icky to go around saying someone doesn't belong to X, Y, Z group because I think they have wrong opinions (or bigoted opinions).
(oh and thank you for your earlier reply, the reason I say trying to be an ally instead of an ally is for a few reasons. Firstly because it felt a bit presumptuous as if I was saying "Look at me, I'm an ally, I can do no wrong and can never be Antisemitic ever again". Secondly because being an ally is always a work-in-progress imo, you always have to double-check yourself, listen and uplift voices, and so on. Also I'm asking all this on Anon, so hiding my identity, so debatable whether that still makes me an ally y'know.
- Same Gentile Anon who's trying to be an ally
Dear Gentile ally anon,
it's really not your place to make callouts of Jews OR fakeclaim them leave that to me
Now if this is an argument or a reblog and you want to call some token grifter on their shit go right ahead with "that's a dogwhistle" or "that's misinformation" but never condescend or goysplain to a Jew about antisemitism.
Usually the reaction will be "Yeah goy we know, stay our of this". Unlike gentiles like yourself Jews know they're being antisemitic and do so on purpose all while claiming that antisemitism doesn't count or that antisemitism is a punishment to keep bad jews in lie. Using another community I am a part this the way LGBT people misgender and harrass the "bad queers" to "protect the community"
Gentiles listen to gentiles so you calling other gentiles on their shit is productive, conversly Jews listen to other Jews so unless those Jews are part of the same community as you or are attacking your friend
you STAY THE HELL OUT OF THIS lest you make it worse
Let Jews callout Jews, you see something that's odd you send it as a receipt (although I DO NOT cover "zionists dni" because they're not worth my time and are too prevalent)
and hey Jewish values put safety over grand gestures of heroism. You're using your anonimity for good that's all that counts. Many of my regulars operate off sideblogs and I have no idea what their main is. consider getting a throwaway sideblog or hijacking a previous one for this
please write again,
Cecil

i don't know why i am bothering to say this at this point but can people PLEASE just try. try not to reblog posts by actual fucking nazis just because they say something you agree with about israel. like the guy is posting rabidly about bloodthirsty evil jews stealing money and plotting to make goyim suffer, i don't think he's coming at this from the point of view of care for palestinian lives.

i just got a message from someone who was very vague, but implied that i was a zionist and "advocating killings [of palestinian civilians]", and i can't message them back as they blocked me, but to anyone else who wants to send me hate: i have been vocally critical of israels apartheid of palestinians and afaik have not reblogged anything to the contrary. please inform me of any posts i have made or reblogged to the contrary and i will delete them.
also, (afaik) i have never claimed to be a zionist, and my official stance is that i don't feel comfortable self-identifying as Either a zionist or an antizionist for two main reasons:
there is a large amount of variety in what "zionism" entails as a belief system even among self-identified zionists and, even if i chose to align myself with any of the many ideologies that can be described as zionist, i would choose to use a much more specific term
the vast majority of gentiles have little if any understanding of what zionism as an ideology entails, and overwhelmingly use the term "zionist" pejoratively against any and all Jews regardless of their beliefs, including paradoxically when said Jews self identify as antizionists and clearly actually hold antizionist beliefs
this is what i meant when i put "goyim stop using the word zionist challenge" in my bio, and i stand by that statement for the aforementioned reasons.
i am willing to have discussions about zionism with gentiles who have shown that they truly understand it as well as the history of israel/palestine, but i personally have only ever found that those that Do understand are people i have known in person for a long time, already know my character, and are willing to challenge their notions. i likely will never gain such ethos here on tumblr, given that it generally does not allow extended interactions that allow for the development of a rapport with me that predicate such nuanced discourse.

this poll is open for anyone to answer but it's geared towards goyim! the goal of this is to see who would actually be willing to change if a zionist jewish person, such as myself, pointed out that they did something antisemitic. im looking for accuracy here, so im including all options i can think of, not just ones i agree with. please be as truthful as possible bc i cannot see your answer (and expand in the reblogs if you want)!
if you're not sure what to answer then reflect on times where you have been called out for antisemitism (if there are any) and answer based off that or imagine yourself in that situation.
if you are antisemitic to anyone in the replies i will block you immediately. and pls reblog so this can escape jumblr containment and be shown to the goyim!

Today one of my social work classmates came to me and was like “I have a Jewish question” and I was like “ok yes go for it” and he was like “why are all my Jewish neighbors constructing little huts in their yard?”

I'm mad again. and honestly this post is me being an asshole and deeply upset about it because I'm not a good little jew
another mutual gone just proving my theory all of you goyim have a ticking clock in you until you can't handle this little jew ruining your perfect story of the heroic wonderful amazing revolutionary group called hamas who are going to free palestine from the evil nazi demons called the jews zionists who deserved to be raped and dunked in a volcano. I hope you feel guilty when you block me. I hope a part of you knows that you did it because you can't actually listen to minorities when it's the teeniest bit challenging to your worldview. I hope part of you knows you're being an antisemite. and I hope that guilt eats at you and eats at you until you die peacefully at the age of 100.
it was river himbohargreeves btw I don't even fuckin care anymore to vagueblog about who's doing it. funny enough our last two convos were 1) them reaching out to me to ask for advice on avoiding antisemitic tropes in their book about aliens secretly taking over the world, and 2) me reaching out to them after they reblogged a post that was like "the ofmd renewal campaign is stupid donate to hamas instead" where I was like "hey man you can think the renewal campaign is stupid but please don't reblog posts about how you should support hamas from a person who is a 100% dead serious hamas supporter because that's super antisemitic." and they apologized and agreed that was fucked up of them. guess they were lying the whole time! I hope river and hamas are very happy together. I wish I was seeing you thirstblog about diego and his stupid dad look rn but the occasional i/p post from your friend of three years was too much for you to take!
I don't want to lose any of you.
I have blocked TWO former friends, one who immediately said disgusting antisemitic shit on one of my posts a day or two after oct 7, and one who reblogged super antisemitic shit a few weeks later (after unfollowing me already so we were no longer mutuals). everyone else has been them deciding to end our friendship. everyone else has been them deciding the opinions of a jew are something that is too difficult for them to hear. everyone else has been them saying "I can't take this fuckin' kike anymore," never me saying "I can't handle this person's opinions on i/p anymore" because my bar is straight up on the floor. it's below the floor. my bar has descended below the ground straight through to china and is continuing to plummet through space to this day.
all you goyim have no idea what it this has been like, slowly watching every single person leave you because of, ultimately, who you are. because they can't handle the average jew's opinion. because mine is the average jew's opinion, at least the average tumblrina jew. I feel 100% comfortable saying that. I'm actually less "pro israel" or whatever the fuck than some people, and I've seen a lot of posts I'd reblog if it weren't for a sentence or two I really disagreed with.
none of you understand how this has foundationally impacted my ability to trust goyim. irl I'm "in the closet" as a jew for the first time. I meet new people now I keep fucking shtum and any stories that involve my judaism in some way are bent and edited to erase it. I went to jewish camp. I took a jewish choir trip. I'm actually jewish eastern european.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm not a good jew. I'm sorry I'm not parroting the party line. I'm sorry I'm not reblogging 15 "free palestine" posts per day. I'm sorry I haven't denounced my people or our right to self-determination. I'm sorry I keep talking about it even though I shouldn't. I'm sorry I think hamas is evil. I'm sorry I think israel should get to exist. I'm sorry I don't say bibi is evil enough. I'm sorry I said you don't get to be antisemitic towards jews you don't like no matter how evil they are. I'm sorry I don't condemn the IDF's actions enough. I'm sorry I didn't share the AI "All Eyes On Rafah" image. I'm sorry I keep reminding you "from the river to the sea" is antisemitic. I'm sorry I'm not a good jew. I'm sorry I'm not a good jew. I'm sorry I'm not a good jew. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!!!!
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
how can I grovel enough for you? can I be a good little jew? one who doesn't upset the goyim? one who has friends? how many of you haven't blocked me yet because even though you want to it'd be a bit awkward? maybe we're in a discord server. or just talk enough that suddenly getting blocked would make things weird. just make friend groups a bit tense and uncomfortable.
I wish I could be a good jew for you and earn your goyische love but I can't. I'm a rat bastard kike who thinks israel should continue to exist. shove me in an oven about it.

There’s an urge to be Woke and Compassionate about literally everything and because we want to be good and nice people, I often see people reblog stuff and I know the intent is good.  But like...I want to screech STAY IN YOUR LANE so fucking bad.  Like oh my god sometimes you can just not engage in an issue.  It doesn’t make you bad or ignorant or unfeeling.  But for the love of god, you do not have to add yourself to platitudes and random posts that have nothing to do with you.  Just be chill.  Oh my god.

Alright, fine, you know what? I do want to make a post to remind everyone of the antisemitic origins of “Halloween” style witches, actually. Here are two wonderful sources for you all to read. There is discussion of antisemitism and death so be cautious, but I would encourage you to learn where antisemitic biases come from. Quite honestly, it’s exhausting to constantly have to fight people over this shit. Here. I am handing these resources to you. Take it and learn. Please. The Antisemitic History of Witches
Witch Perspectives: Burning down the Old Standards
More reading on antisemitism in relation to witchcraft and the occult that I think are important: Aleister Crowley’s Antisemitism and Bigotry (Fair warning, his comments are absolutely disgusting and incredibly racist and antisemitic. Proceed with caution).  Source 1 Source 2 Source 3
Appropriation Of Jewish Mysticism
Blood Libel (there is mass death described in this. be careful)
I may add to this later. Feel free to send asks with additional sources. GOYIM CAN REBLOG BUT DO NOT CLOWN ON MY POST.

Antisemetism In Art, and How To Avoid It: A masterpost for HLVRAI content creators
Posted by a Jewish adult, with help from other jewish HLVRAI fans
Notes before we get into this:
A portion of this will be graphs/images, with image IDs underneath each section.
Bubby and Benrey are the focus of this post, if you have questions regarding other characters then please don't hesitate to ask if the general idea is not covered here.
This is a collaborative effort between fans of HLVRAI who are Jewish, but that does not mean we are representing every jewish fan's view. If other jewish fans disagree, that does not mean either of us are less jewish than the other. Thank you.
If you have any questions about this post, literally any, please don't hesitate to ask!
And yes, this can be reblogged by goyim! It helps spread the word.
Lets Begin!
Text versions will be below the read-more.

Source Credits:
- Most of the images came from an in-depth google doc about antisemitism HERE
- The rest of the copy-pasted reference images came from the Wikipedia page on Antisemitism, and the final illustrations were drawn by me.
- The Wikipedia page also has more information on antisemitism in general if you want to read up more outside of fandom issues!
Closing Notes:
Thank you so much for reading - I know this took far too long to post and I am very sorry for how long it took. With moving multiple times, starting a new job, and losing motivation to work on this, I am very happy to finally have this done. I hope this helps, and my inbox is always open for discussion, questions, or just to talk (same for DMs!)
*EDIT (5/17/2021): While "Bubby's model is based on a jewish person" is a common claim made in the HLVRAI community, I can't actually find any information supporting that. However, the character model (Isaac Kleiner) is still Jewish/Jewish coded (due to his name), so the chart still applies. Thank you for understanding, and I am sorry for the confusion!

TEXT VERSIONS:
Trait Charts for Bubby & Benrey
Bubby's in-game model is based on a Jewish person, while Benrey has no ties to judaism. Because of this, the guidelines for their character designs are not the same.
BUBBY No: - Hooked Nose - Different from pointed nose - Inhuman Skin - specifically from the yellow, green, and blue hues. - Horns/Horn Hair - Animal features - Tail, animal eyes, and animal limbs. Think stereotypical demons? Catboys not included, the intent behind those is less so dehumanizing and moreso just furry-lite. Only 1 At A Time*: - Sharp Teeth - Not very common, but it has still been used to demonize jewish people - Claws - Pointed Ears * When I say "Only 1 at a time", honestly 1-2 can be combined. It entirely depends on the artist's intent/how exaggerated those aspects are. Sadly, nuance is hard to define in a small chart. Just be cautious and respectful! OK!: - Being evil - Being a villain/temporarily evil does not equal automatically bad. Woobifying jewish people is Not the solution. Unless he is portrayed as greedy or the "mastermind" behind everything (very bad), being generally evil is OK. - Pointer/Big Nose - Styleized pointed noses, or realistically larger noses, are not the same as a hooked nose. Speaking as someone who has a larger nose, it is ok to draw those. - "Flame" Hair
BENREY NO: - Hooked Nose - Different from pointed nose - Inhuman Skin - SPECIFICALLY greens and yellows, greys and blues are okay -Horns/Horn Hair - This one is situational - they are okay for AUs (such as demon AUs or Winter Holiday imps) but not for just basic Benrey. Fluffy/messy/spiky hair is fine tho Mostly Okay, Depends On Intent*: - Sharp Teeth - Claws - Pointed ears - While bad on jewish characters, pointy ears are a very common trait in other non-antisemetic media (Such as elves, vampires, aliens, etc.) - Being Evil - Pointy/Big Nose -Animal Features - While bad for bubby, having demonic characters it not antisemetic in itself! Only when it's used to represent jews. * When it comes to non-jewish characters, it's harder to make a set list of "yes"s and "no"s due to a little thing called nuance. Sometimes artists can combine these traits in a respectful way that has no ties to antisemitism, and other artists utilize these traits to make anti-jewish media. This is unfortunately an overlap that can not be defines due to how much of this is a grey area, so do your best to research an artists views before making false claims - the same goes for giving antisemitic artists a free pass on accident. Do your research, don't be afraid to ask artists in private first before making public posts, and stay safe!
