LIVEBLOG: Wakfu Season 4, Episode 4 [PART 1]
[puts my fingers to my temples to try and explode him with my mind]
One thing I really like about the intro to this episode is that because the animators who did it weren't good at lore, there's just a shitton of continuity errors. Like sacrier being here despite not existing yet, or the really weird or old looking council of 12 babies. Genuinely loving the energy of this. Fuck it we ball.
[puts my fingers to my temples to try and explode him with my mind again]
Of course your eyes would glow red. You're evil and shit.
[guy who has mommy issues voice] for reasons unrelated to this Wakfu episode, I need to fucking sit down and take a deep breath and trying not to think about Nora Wakfu.
Anyway, I gotta finish watching a letsplay of IoW one of these days... I <3 silent protagonists going through the horrors.
I will be honest: after having watched the entire season 4 I kind of think Nora and Efrim are wonderful and good and based and yippie.
I know some people think she was underutilized, and I think so too... but there is something very compelling here nonetheless, even if I wish it was elaborated on. S4 is a collection of many good ideas, but I feel as though there are so many of them, that they couldn't pay good attention to any of them.
[guy who has mommy issues voice] once again, for reasons unrelated to this Wakfu episode, I need to sit down and take a deep breath and trying not to think about th
This season made me retroactively like Armand a lot, which can probably be seen in my earlier posts. I just... man... Liking familial themes in media and becoming a fan of Krosmoz goes together like coca cola and mentos.

Some Long Live Evil Appreciation
Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan has a tragically small fandom. I guess I’ll pop out from the abyss like a screaming and starving ghoul bent on taking someone down with me because I JUST FINISHED IT HALF AN HOUR AGO AND I AM DESPERATE FOR CONTENT!!!
This will be spoiler free. I just need to ramble.
Anyway, it’s about Rae who’s dying from cancer when she’s given a chance to stop her death by going into her favourite fantasy novel. The only catch is that she lands in the body of the villainess and now has to avoid that horrible ending. Oh and she has to somehow scheme her way to a magical flower that only blooms once a year and can only save her that one night.
As someone who loves villainess isekai anime, I can confidently say this feels like a love letter to it. We’ve got our girl accidentally befriending and making characters fall for her in her attempts to avoid her doom! On top of that, we have her driving the plot more and more off track as she tries to fix it! We even have antics so cartoonish that they could be cringe, but they circle back to ridiculously iconic!
It’s riddled with pop culture references that will age it but I Do not care for it is wonderfully cheesy and our protagonists definitely need a break from all the blood and gore.
I also really love the side characters. They don’t just mindlessly follow Rae, and most take a while to warm up to her actually. But the back stories and alternating POVs we get in contrast to Rae’s reader knowledge? CHEF’S KISS! PlUS THERES QUEER REP!!
And the love story? Seems like there might be a love triangle at first but it’s made very obvious very quickly that there isn’t one. That medieval alpha male mf never stood a chance!
The love interest is unhinged in the best way possible. In the doesn’t save the world, but would burn it to save you kind of way! In a kill every last one of them kind of way that reminds me of my one and only Dimitri from Fire Emblem. Seriously, if you’re like me and seeing him feral post time skip unlocked something in you, this book has the dude for you!
Anyway, I gotta say that I really relate to Rae. I haven’t experienced illness like her.”, but when I suddenly became disabled as a teenager, I felt similarly angry when people asked me to show some grace and understanding to those who treated me like a charity case or something to be discarded when it became too hard for them to watch. When she talked about trying to hold back emotion to keep from pushing more people away, I was silent taking it in. Rae’s fury at being called a bitch for her anger healed a part of me. And her using that to fuel herself? I CANNOT EMPHASIZE HOW CATHARTIC IT WAS ENOUGH!
If any of this caught your interest, you should go read it. I NEED PEOPLE TO SHARe THIS OBSESSION With!!!
I’m off to brainstorm fanfic while I wait for the second book.

so i've been falling down the danmei productions (chinese censored productions of BL novels) rabbit hole and i've figured out the basic BL starter pack:
1. BANTER. the two protagonists need to make a ton of thinly veiled jokes at each other about being in love. because censors! so in order to get any of it aired it's all gotta be nudge nudge wink wink. let me insert an episode where everyone suddenly acts out of character due to magic! or let me make the shameless one dress as a woman for an episode! they will find any and every way to let the two leads f l i r t and make us all wonder: why don't these two just get married already?
2. YEARNING. because if one half of our main couple has not waited at least 10 years for the other to either show up in their life or resurrect from the dead, are they really in love?
3. OPPOSITES ATTRACT. we need the flirty one! endlessly grinning and touching and teasing the silent one! and the cold quiet one is only soft for the sunshine one! how else can we know that their love is true!
4. SUFFERING. and i mean SUFFERING. dead parents. entire families annihilated. torture. tragic backstories abound. these men have never known happiness until they've met their other half. and then all they want to do is watch the world burn together. (and can we really blame them for that?)
5. ACTS OF ("brotherly") LOVE. they were brothers, historians would say, but they're almost always nearly dying for each other, and longing after each other, and siding with each other against the entire world.
5.1 OH BUT THEY WERE IN LOVE IN LOVE. there's gotta be at least one scene somewhere when our two main protagonists speculate about their possible future together. especially if it's just before some incredibly terrifyingly intense climax of the story (where one of our leads may *gasps* die) they talk about running a noodle shop together, or roaming the world together, or travelling from town to town fighting crime together.
5.2 AND THEY WERE SOULMATES. the word soulmates comes up somewhere. it technically translates to confidant (or person who knows me) but. if the translators decide to subtitle it as soulmate who am i to tell them otherwise.
6. FOUND FAMILY. they also have to adopt a kid who's gonna follow them through their adventures. sometimes it's two kids, sometimes it's a whole baseball team of children (of all ages and genders, they are incredibly inclusive on this point in this way). these kids are going to represent every single viewer, watching the main leads flirt while wondering, why don't i have two dads? why must one always go away and leave me behind? why is it always the rich dad that's gotta go? please come back and feed me and my poor papa we are starving rich dad.
i could keep going but these are the main requirements in our basic chinese BL novel adaptation starter packs. oh also most of the budget goes into hiring the two most attractive main leads possible and you get to watch as the cgi gets worse episode after episode as the show loses funding through its run. but it doesn't matter because these two men are clearly in love and i'm still 100% here for it.
#chinese BL novel adaptations#the untamed#guardian#word of honor#the sleuth of ming dynasty#a league of nobleman#technically that last one was not a BL but#they broke up at some point and each fed their shared custody kittens#so i'm counting it

I'm really curious how can you make Rookie from Halo work... So can I ask for a romantic concept for him?
I will be focusing strictly on Rookie from Halo 3: ODST for this. Gotta love obsessive silent protagonist :)
Yandere! Rookie/Jonathan Doherty Concept
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Violence implied, Death mentioned, Injury, Blood, Guns (Halo is an FPS so-), One-sided relationship, Thoughts of forced affection, Dubious relationship.
Can you really blame The Rookie for becoming so obsessive?
He wakes up in New Mombasa, the rain pouring hard upon his helmet.
His team is scattered, perhaps even dead.
He is left to find out what happened to them in the wet streets of New Mombasa.
Plus, the city is overrun by Covenant troops.
The Rookie may have found you hiding away in New Mombasa.
You're a civilian left behind in this concept, only armed with a pistol.
The Rookie can see the wounds and blood on your clothes/skin when he finds you.
You trust him when you see him, you can tell by his armor he's human.
He's no Spartan, but an ODST is still able to quickly adapt for survival.
He no doubt finds a first aid station nearby and gets to work on patching up your wounds.
Rookie's concern is primarily looking for an extraction point and where the rest of his team could be.
But as he looks at you shivering from the rain and slowly recovering from your wounds, part of him feels like he should keep an eye on you.
This makes the Rookie take you along with him, arming you with a gun you can use.
Despite you being armed he knows you're vulnerable.
He's armored, you aren't.
You both don't have shields, but one well placed shot would do more damage to you than him.
The Rookie encourages you both to travel in shadows.
The city itself is dark and the rain makes it hard to see.
This is used to your advantage.
Over time Rookie notices you open up to him.
He doesn't say much but listens to you when you talk.
Rookie is hard to read what he's thinking... due to the lack of speech and helmet.
I have a feeling ODST Yanderes are more comforting than Spartans as they feel more human.
Although Rookie is a poor example of this since he feels almost... emotionless at times.
However he does show he cares for you still, he isn't too cold.
He takes most of the hits, he listens to you, he acts empathetic.
You can't explain why it feels like he's staring though... might just be the helmet?
In reality... Rookie is staring because he feels attracted.
Another thing that sets Spartan yanderes such as John apart from ODSTs? Romantic attraction.
Rookie has no enhancements that dampen such feelings.
Which means he's still able to feel romantic attraction, like Buck.
Rookie finds himself falling for you, a civilian in his care.
He's determined to help you out of this mess, no matter what it takes.
Rookie is mostly focused on the task at hand.
But occasionally his thoughts wander back to you, thinking of what life with you could entail.
He really shouldn't since the war is still going.
You're a civilian, you should be evacuated like all the rest.
But as you get closer to the extraction point, his grip tightens on you.
He can't bring himself to see you go.
Even when he meets with Buck and Veronica, he is intent on not leaving without you.
Buck definitely teases Rookie, claiming he has a new partner.
Rookie doesn't mind, in fact he thinks of what it would be like to show you affection.
His feelings for you never dissipate.
In fact, even as you fly off with him in a Pelican, he still fantasized about being with you.
Maybe he should've pinned you to a wall in New Mombasa... kissed you... showed how much he adores you...
Rookie wants to find a way to express such feelings... but he isn't sure how.
He has desires but he has to wait for the right time.
He feels eventually you two will end up together.
He doesn't want anyone else to be beside you, after all he saved you.
Who else was supposed to protect you?
Even if he has to pull some strings... spill some blood... or break a few UNSC vows and rules...
Rookie plans to remain your savior, protector, and possible lover... even if you are a civilian.
Overall Yandere Type: Overprotective, Obsessive, Devoted, Deceptive, Delusional, Slightly possessive.

Find the word tag!
Thank you so much for the tag, @paeliae-occasionally! ❤️
The words: OPEN, DISCOVER, LEAVE, STAY
OPEN
You are days in the flat, open country Shay Ferrick grew up in. They blend imperceptibly together; they are silent, but the nights are deafening. Thunder rattles the window panes in Shay’s childhood bedroom. Hail patters on the shingles. When it’s quiet and still, your head fills in the silence: how can you keep him? How can you keep him? · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · · #coyotebackstabby
DISCOVER
While he’d swear the robber in him was dead, the opportunist was not. He may not have been able to find food, but he did discover a map laid atop a kitchen table in the first house he entered. The previous tenants had marked routes and crossed out others. Many times they marked trails as impassable in winter. · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · · this one's from a random RP post 🥴
LEAVE
“You don’t really gotta leave tomorra,” he said. “Yeah — I’m gonna. I need to.” · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · · Ruck's younger brother tries to help him get on his feet once he's out on parole, but them two jest cain't get along. #that90sincarceration
STAY
Honestly, all I could think about was how embarrassing the service was. The organ player must’ve been ninety, and she kept mashing two keys at the same time. I thought too about how you didn’t even warn me. Didn’t give me a chance to do anything about it. Your impulsivity is something I always loved about you, but this really sucks, Deanna. I would have driven to you. I would have stayed up on the phone with you all night. · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · · This is from a story I wanted to write about a young woman whose best friend ended her own life. The protagonist feels bitter and personally wronged by her friend's death.

MEET YOUR CONTESTANTS!
Undertale spoilers under the cut!
Name: Frisk.
Age: “a kid. unspecified. like 8 maybe or something”
Gender + Pronouns: Non-binary, they/them
Video Game: Undertale
Backstory: “fell into big hole”
• “Fell down hole in mountain”
• “falled down a hole :(“
• “Backstory is unclear, we only know they climb a mountain, knowing it has legends of being dangerous, and falls into a hole (with it being implied there is possible sh implications). Throughout the game they are presented as a silent protagonist, as the player's surrogate. However when you examine dialog options, descriptions, and how characters' interact with Frisk, a personality forms. They're charismatic, a jokester, they love to perform and act, whether thats singing, dancing, joke dancing etc (i know i should be putting more here but its been a while since i played the game. Specifically while you choose dialog options, they generally have a coherent vibe that alludes to Frisk's personality outside of the player. hell an important part at the true ending of the game is learning Frisk's name. Its a sudden twist of "hey, this kid has a identity outside of how you molded their choices" i think its so neat)”
• “child who ran away from their home and fell into mount Ebot”
• “Fell into the Underground and either killed or befriend the population, depending on what you do and if you suck”
• “fell down a hole and became the avatar for the player (willingly or not). tbh i think everyone knows undertale by now”
• “They fell in a hole and now all the monsters in the hole wanna take their soul so they gotta make their way through the underground and then use a monster soul to get through the magic barrier to get out”
• “Just some kid that climbed a mountain for unknown reasons and fell down a hole.”
• “Vessel for the player”
• “Was bullied and ran to a big mountain to hide away only to fall in a big hole and meet a bunch of monsters trapped under there”
Why should they win the tournament?: “they're objectively the best videogame kid”
• “The child protag of all time, I love them”
• “frisk undertale”
• “I just think theyre neat. I feel like too often they're sidelined as just a silent player surrogate character, but when you actually dig into their character there's some wild stuff. Frisk is just so fun, actual madlad of a child.”
• “they are so cools <3”
• “Frisk has the best expression throughout the entire game: -_- . They wear a striped shirt. They are iconic. There is a lamp, conveniently shaped just like them
• “iconic video game child”
• “The most Child a kid could possibly be”
• “Undertale is probably one of the most iconic indie games out there, thus Frisk is one of the most iconic video game kids out there.”
• “I just want to see them lose cause pacifist ending or something idk”
• “Determination…”

sol badguy as always. smile
favorite thing about them: he's such a great protagonist for guilty gear like right from the outset the way he's like. got these hidden depths. his gg1 ending is so good i always think of it the like. remorse he has over justice even before he knew who she was...
least favorite thing about them: SOL I KNOW IT WAS KIND OF A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE SITUATION BUT YOU GOTTA BE A LITTLE NICER TO SIN like i can't really blame him for not being a great dad, he had it rough too, but he was like. all sin had and he kinda beefed it
favorite line: EITHER the fireworks moment in rev OR the bit where he pulls jack-o out of i-no and says "when have i ever called you aria?" LIKE IT'S SO. the culmination of it all. he's not living in the past he's looking to the future and he wants to bring the people he loves with him...
brOTP: I'm kind of using this slot as a "think about this potential friendship nobody ever talks about" so. i really desperately NEED for arcsys to call in that favour they got after sending baiken to samsho. and i need them to put k' in guilty gear as a guest character. k' is kind of disaffected teen sol badguy. i think they'd have a great time chilling in a room together completely silently watching tv or something. they're on the same wavelength
OTP: soljack but they need like 5 years and some fucking casual hangouts first WHY WAS STRIVE 3 WEEKS. world's most meaningful despite all odds relationship shot in the foot by insufficient timeskip between games!!!
nOTP: we gotta stop letting solky fly it's just weird no matter where and how you slice it
random headcanon: i think even after getting the flame of corruption taken out of him he probably still runs really hot. sol badguy beach holiday unfortunately not an option because he just gets really sweaty and uncomfortable and needs to go to the shade and lie down
unpopular opinion: this SHOULD be popular though anyway his overture backyard outfit is his best outfit they gotta put him in that top again
song i associate with them: literally couldn't be anything other than sheer heart attack like he carried that shit around for 200 years for a reason. also this is less him on his own and more a time and place for him but i always think of him and aria pre-canon when i listen to 5 years time by noah and the whale. something about what ifs
favourite picture of them: literally any picture of him where his eyes are hidden by his headband it's like moe to me he's cute

10 characters/10 fandoms/10 tags
Tagged by @shroudkeeper & @ubejamjar - thank you both! ♥ It's SO hard to narrow down my favorites but I'll try! Tagging (if you wanna! feel free to ignore!) @renjinguji | @sealrock | @tsunael
@paintedscales | @aethergazing
@sasslett | @chadhunkler | @snotsloth | @abalathia | @lavampira
1. Kainé - NieR Replicant. In trying to limit my answers to 10 separate fandoms, I had to narrow it down to one character for NieR including Drakengard, Automata, and Replicant. It's GOTTA be Kainé, though. I still get so emotional thinking about her.
2. Qifrey - Witch Hat Atelier. Witch Hat Atelier is an ongoing fantasy manga series and probably one of the best I've read. Qifrey is fascinating, flawed, and so much fun to watch (read?). Honestly, there are so many amazing and brilliantly written characters in WHA, it's hard to pick just one.
3. Solas - Dragon Age: Inquisition. I'll get some funny looks for this one, but Solas is THE Dragon Age character for me. I will not be explaining myself or taking any questions at this time. (Varric and Morrigan are strong runners-up though.)
4. Commander Shepard but specifically fem!Shep - Mass Effect. THE PROTAGONIST OF ALL TIME.
5. Kim Kitsuragi - Disco Elysium. Disco Elysium is a phenomenal game, and so much of that experience (for me) is due to Kim's presence. He's a professional, he's a dork, he's calm and collected to balance out Harry's, well, everything else.
6. Dale Cooper - Twin Peaks. I don't know if I have the words to accurately describe my love for Special Agent Dale Cooper.
7. Heather Mason - Silent Hill 3. My baby girl. My strong, god-killing daughter. I love Heather.
8. Cid Highwind - Final Fantasy VII. There are WAY too many Final Fantasy characters to choose from, but Cid goes here because he's the one who kickstarted my love for dragoons. (Other meaningful characters are Garnet, Kuja, Ignis, Rinoa, Freya, Ardyn, Ysayle, Fordola — honestly, I could fill out a separate list JUST for Final Fantasy characters.)
9 & 10. 2B & 9S - NieR Automata. Okay I broke down. I'm including them too.
#dear tumblr please fix your broken user tagging#please and thank youuuu#i could yap for hours about any of these characters if i'm being tbh#tagged tag

HI OOMF… 11, 18, 26, 29 for the ask game :D
HELLO OOMF THAT I ALWAYS WANT TO TALK MORE TO BUT FORGET. I hope you have been having fun with the vgm polls blog like I have oh my god...
11. Do you prefer ‘blank slate’ main characters you make yourself or otherwise project onto, or characters with a set personality and backstory?
Both can be good if done right, and there can even be a mixture of the two. It's about execution!
I'm going to slightly misinterpret this question here, I think, but I really want to make this point: my fav game protagonists range from a literal self-insert (Pyre, Fire Emblem Awakening) to 99-100% silent (Chrono Trigger, Drakengard) to... not very talkative (going to avoid the obvious example and say FF7 here lol) to 'the game literally relies on this character's banter and charm to carry the story' (Kid Icarus Uprising, Hades). It truly is about taking advantage of the approach you pick!!!
18. A game location you really like
[VA-11 Hall-A] well... it's in the game's name lol. This (and the next entry) are cases of 'this one location IS basically the spirit of the game', so you know they want you to get hella attached. And I did! I love this dinky bar and its shitty ads! I love the jukebox taking slightly too long to preview the music you pick! I love Dana running everyone ragged like the powerhouse she is! etc
[Control] The Oldest House. Which is not a house. Which is everything, really. This game managed to make me feel awe at mold 10/10
[Katana ZERO] Murdower Hotel :D I know it's simple set dressing, but the level is fun to blast through on both normal and hard, it looks insanely pretty and manages to evoke a lot visually, Sneaky Driver bops, the dialogue skip is fun to do, and dying to lasers on the way back even though you've done this level like 100 times is a classic. Also I love puns. Did you know that.
[K0 again] Don't want to lose my mind trying to rant about half the locations, so like. I'll just say here that THERE'S A LOT MORE I LIKE AND AM NORMAL ABOUT OK? I always laugh at myself when people talk about favorite\homey video game locations, because mine is one of the worst apartments in the world. yay
[Chrono Trigger] Guardia forest! It's purely a nostalgia pick: entering this location was the moment this game enchanted me forever <3 though obviously, throughout the story you really get attached to 1000AD as a sort of home outside your home.
[Trails in the Sky] Rolent, the quintessential example of 'starting RPG hometown' to me by now. Enough said honestly
[Trails from Zero\to Azure] ...and Crossbell is the quintessential example of a hub town! The most 'lived-in' video game location I know, and that's gotta be high praise, right?
[Shin Megami Tensei] Just... Tokyo. Even at the conceptual level, I LOVE the idea of taking the real world and making it a supernatural playground. In IV specifically, I loved the underground network being set up as a last resort. Running around the subway trying to find the black market and sighing in relief when you hear the music... LOL
[Xenoblade 1] Satorl Marsh \ Valak Mountain \ Bionis' interior. Don't have much to say, because my appreciation for them is mostly on a visual \ aesthetic level
[Xenoblade 2] THEOSOIR. The songs are mind-blowing, the people's plight is relatable, and it nails that fucking. Look and feel of being desperately trapped in the cold but still finding ways to go on. I'm bad at explaining how much I love this place, but I DO.
[Xenoblade 2... 2] Indol. Probably the most awed and immersed I felt in an RPG location ever.
26. Realism or stylized?
This is a point of growth for me, because usually I immediately say FUCK REALISM IT DOESN'T AGE WELL AND IS HARDER TO PARSE, but I'm beginning to recognize both have their place. Stylized is more reliable, but realism is what pushes the limits of what we can do in games, and both can lead to their own innovations. That's the short of it, I think.

I am asking about your OCs, what is the story for them 👀
JOHOHOHOHOHO
So I'm working on this one story, I think I told you a bit about if the name Laika sounds familiar to you? And the whole gods take too much magic from this world to make other more Interesting worlds fucking over everyone on this planet. But imma tell you more about the other characters in this. Also it has a tentative name? Very subject to change. When Gods Go Silent. Don't know for sure yet. Something with Gods in it.
• Valentinas name is getting changed. Not sure what it'll be yet. Maybe Judith, or Jasmin, or Rosemary, or smth. I don't know yet.
• There's a healer lady names Crystal. She's, OK because this is a magical universe she's deerlike? She's not like...A Deer, or a hybrid or anything. She just has hooves and fur someplaces and antlers n shit. Gotta learn how to draw so.i can do her justice. Her identity issues have identity issues. She is incredibly religious. Where she comes from healing and religion are heavily intertwined. She has never been a person, only a Vessel for their gods beliefs and an entertainer for her community. She is very deep in denial. She's charming, she's very deep in her many persona's, and she's aware that they are persona's but at the same time she very much believes they're all there is to her. Im torn between her thinking "This IS the real me. I am many different things. Maybe they are all lies, yes, but they're as good of a self as I have. I did genuinely care, I did genuinely apply myself to this role, so it is Me. Just a cut up vwrsion of me. I cannot help my nature." And "Of course this isn't the real me. There isn't any. I do not have a personality, or an identity. I cannot help my nature." Idk idk.
Lola is very suspicious of her for joining her and...God whatever she ends up being named, because why would SHE joined? She believes in the Gods being good. Why would she thinks they need to do what she thinks the gods will get to when the time is right? And she very much doesn't think that Lola and Protagonist are right, but, well...she's curious. She's curious what will happen. She's never met non believers before. Not like this. She's never actually seen much of life outside her home. She's intrigued. She's known exactly what would happen her entire life. She has a strict destiny set up for her. (More on that...eventually )She might as well fill in the gaps between what will happen to her with something Interesting. Honestly so much of it is motivated less by what she justifies it as (I must bring them to the light) and more so she is so bored and these people are fascinating and she wants to figure them out. Weird psychoanalysis girl.
Her and Lola have a very interesting dynamic, with Crystal being very psychoanalyzing and weird studying/jabbing at her, and Lola snarking back and surprising her out of her persona, and there being Weird Chemistry underneath all of it. They eventually fall in love btw. I will tell you more about this when I figure it out.
• Crystal's whole thing in the overarching metaphor for capitalism is you can be Good and Perfect and throw yourself into the system and destroy any other parts of yourself and it will never ever be enough. You will still be next on the chopping block. You can be literally nothing but a shell for your Role in it all and it will never reward you. You will be bled dry and have nothing to show for it.
• I love crystal
• I want Laika to be the last to join the group but there's probably going to be More People in it. Idk who yet. I gotta develop itttt. Aaaaa. Save me ideas. Save me

Blistering Love
Timeline 20151 - Protagonist : V Temarii
[ First | Previous | Next ]
V allowed Johnny to do whatever he wanted with Rogue. It was their body, after all. But, by the time he was in control again, the merc realized he was still fully clothed, and that the movie wasn't over just yet. "Shit, that was… quick?" he commented
"I am many things, V, but a one minute man I am not. Nothing happened. Was gonna be a nice night at the drive-in. Now, she’s mad and won’t tell me what about." "What did you do this time?" "Uh, no. It’s definitely not me. ‘member Grayson? How they spoke? How weird it was?”"
"Yeah, it was odd. But, maybe there’s no connection. Maybe she’s just… still in shock. You, back, trying for once. Give her some time. She'll see you're trying to-" V tried to rest a hand on Johnny's knee for sympathy, but the engram seemingly ran from his touch. He felt Johnny closing from him again, hiding his feelings and thoughts under static. V tried not feeling hurt at feeling pushed away. "Eh, gotta mull it over. For now: take me to North Oak.”
"That where Rogue went?" "Nah: Kerry. Tell you once we’re there.”
The road to North Oak was silent. V could feel an uncomfortable tension form, emanating from the rockerboy. Johnny was in a bad mood, and couldn't keep all his turmoil for himself. Emotions filtered through their bond. "Johnny? You alright?" V dared to ask after a while. "Preem." "You sure? Cause I feel this… knot… in-" “I'm the one in your head - not the other way 'round," he sharply replied, "Now, keep your eyes on the road."
Johnny made them stop near a pool of water under the North Oak sign. If the engram still seemed troubled, he seemed to relax ever so slightly as he looked up at the luxurious residences above them." “This oughta work.” “What are we doing here? “Heard Kerry got himself a buck a mansion here. Done well.” “Kerry Eurodyne? Yeah, he’s a pretty big deal, compared to what I saw in your memories. My sister had a huge Eurodyne phase. Went from town to town klepping anything that had his face on. Albums, magazines,...” “And you? Gonna behave yourself if you meet him up close?” Johnny seemingly couldn't help but barked.
“Was her thing, so I had to hate it, y’know how it goes. Music's preem, and Eurodyne always seemed pretty wild. Half his stories were more like controversies, and I did enjoy reading those. You two seemed to fight a lot, but I get why you got along." "Nah," he retorked harshly, "It probably was just an act. Only posed as a rebel to fit in. Was actually desperate not to step on any toes, Arasaka’s especially.” "Maybe he's changed. Like… Rogue has?" V suggested, though Alt's name came first in his mind. He was glad he avoided her name, Rogue's seemed to anger the rockerboy enough as it was. That spark of calmness suddenly died. "People can change V, but they can't suddenly grow balls. No. Read the screamsheets about him recently? Know what they write about him? He’s depressed, attempted suicide.” "Shit!" V let out, though the information didn't surprise him. Many fans knew about Eurodyne's unpredictable mental state, "You really afraid he’s gonna hurt himself?” “Who knows? Either way, could give him some pointers.” Those words made V realize Johnny had closed off his heart and mind to his host once more, protecting himself through tough words and a thougher attitude. Johnny wasn't alright, and V was certain it had to do with his recent rejection. "Johnny…" he called, grabbing his arm.
"Johnny, listen. I know something's not right, can feel it. Rogue rejected you, and that fucking sucks. But, lemme-" But once again, Johnny evaded his touch. "I said it before. I’ll say it again: not about Rogue. Now, get us inside that mansion, yeah?"
As Johnny walked back to the car, V couldn't help but listen to that cruel voice in the back of his head telling him that he was being ignored, left out. He hoped letting Johnny in control again would elevate the engram's mood, and maybe he would be thankful enough to remember V's presence.

BRO I JUST NOTICED I HAVEN'T POSTED THE WHOLE YEAR so here's a WIP I have for some Animal Crossing Silent Hill protagonist bc I wanted to make my take on that. Henry is a mouse bc I LOVE MOUSES AND I LOVE HENRY and bc yk how they live in holes in the walls and all that, the other ones where selected by vibes. Gotta be honest this one is a redraw from a previous one I did but I tried to make it more AC style and it came out pretty stiff and ugly so I redrew them months later in a more stylized and fluid way.

Cyborg 009 BGOOParts Delete (2020) - Volume 2
A full year has past since I read volume 1, so it’s time for me to get up to speed. Luckily, since this is a story that has been rehashed time and time again, it’s going to be easier to recall what’s going on. I can’t believe 3 more volumes have already come out, what a quick turnaround time! (Probably not a good sign tbh).
Ch. 8
-It kind of bugs me how the cyborgs names are stylized with their numbers and then their actual names in furigana. Are they calling each other by their names or their numbers? Confusing...
-The art style continues to be gorgeous. Love the dedication to keeping older aesthetics alive (I follow some artists on Insta that do 90s anime art).
-A lot of the vocabulary went over my head this chapter, but it’s not too hard to grasp the generic “mwahaha we’ll become powerful Gods and take over the world” narrative.
-I feel like some of the Mythos cyborgs translate well to modern day and some are too cheesy to take seriously -cough- hippo man -cough cough-
Ch. 9
-Whelp, that chapter was kind of difficult to understand. This manga is very monologue/dialogue heavy. I could basically tell that they were going on and on about destiny and the meaning of their existence (both the numbers cyborgs and the mythos cyborgs)
-Kind of annoying how 003 gets relegated to “(wo)man in the chair” instead of getting in on the main action, but oh well. I guess it makes sense since her ability isn’t really useful in battle.
Ch. 10
-So Hera took over Rico’s body preventing the numbers cyborgs from attacking her. Once again, I struggled to follow this one. Even though it’s a modern Cyborg 009, they still talk in an old timey way that’s hard to follow.
-These chapters are really short. This one was basically entirely villain monologue and very boring.
Ch. 11
-Okay, I lied, that chapter was kind of long. We’re really moving at a snail’s pace here. Like a multiple chapter build up to a single battle...is that really necessary? What is this, Dragon Ball?
-Helena (or one of her sister’s) and Pan show up. Helena says something about this being a battle that was fought before previously. Tell me about it lol...
Ch. 12
-A pretty dull fighting chapter where the Mythos cyborgs mock the numbers cyborgs. They all seem to be paired up with cyborgs similar to them and mostly evenly matched.
-The horse cyborg’s neck guns are pretty cursed looking, yuck
-So apparently other numbers cyborgs can use acceleration mode because of the Dolphin somehow? That just feels like cheating...
Ch. 13
-In this chapter Apollon just goes on an on about his “real sister” Helena who is also Artemis I guess? I dunno lol. He said that she has the power to amplify her teammates powers which...I’m so sick of these female characters getting the lame supporting role bleh. Also 003 shows up for like two seconds and does nothing (except call for Ivan).
-Joe has literally been standing around saying nothing for several chapters now. What a boring hero. He might as well be a silent video game protagonist.
-Urgh...gotta find something positive to say...I guess I was kinda excited that Ivan was mentioned for the first time in awhile, but we didn’t actually get to see him. Boo.
-I know it was like this in the OG manga, but I wonder what the logic was behind making some of the Mythos cyborgs animal hybrids and some human like. Achilles is a panther dude for example.
Ch. 14
-Joe successfully defeats Achilles, Geronimo fights the minotaur and Francoise confronts Helena (who she recognizes from their past meeting). It was nice to see Geronimo fighting for a change.
Not sure if I’m finding this painful to read because of the tricky, kanji-heavy Japanese or because the writing sucks. Gonna say it’s a combo of the two...Oh well. Only a few volumes to go and I’ll be done. Just want the Mythos arc to end.

1 for the choose violance ask?
1: the character everyone gets wrong
AUGGHHHHHHH OHHH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! LUCAS 4 SURE. also maybe Gerard and Frank and other Band Dudes, but as for actual fictional characters, PROBABLY LUCAS!
Now, we don't have a clear idea of what Lucas is like post time-skip, if he's still the same gentle cry baby as he was before, in the prologue. But you gotta understand that going on a journey like that has got to change a person. He's def a lot more brave than the fandom, AND FUCKING SMASH BROS BRAWL !!! gives him credit for.
Old fanfics will usually give him t-th-he unre-re-alistic s-s-s-s-stuttering habit, which is sssssoooooooooo hard to read sometimes. I understand stuttering as something someone can have naturally, but in this context, it's something he does because he's nervous or scared or flustered. And he does it almost every time he talks until he finally warms up enough, or he's in a perpetual state of flustered. I'd understand if this was an actual speech thing he had that the author brings up, but no, you can tell that the intention is just to make him look more, ... Im not sure the right word, but more Shoujo shy girl like. Y'know?
Mischaracterization can't really be a thing with Mother protags and other silent protagonist. There can be opinions on characters I can either like or dislike, but that doesn't rule out the possibility that the character is "actually" like that. For Ness and Ninten, no one is really right or wrong... Characterizing them as assholes (COUGH mother 1 novel with Ninten/Ken) or as shy or, well, most of the time people just write Ness as a heroic extrovert and/or complete dumbass which personally is the correct way to me.
But in Mother 3, we get more character from Lucas than we do with any other mother protag, in that he's a gentle boy who likes flowers, and the village sees him as a crybaby, even before Hinawa died. (That one lady Flint talks to during the forest fire, before they knew Hinawa died, called Lucas a crybaby)
But fuck dude, even before the time-skip happened, Lucas came in clutch with the drago to save Salsa and Kuma from Fassad!!! You go, baby Lucas! wth!!!!
Anyway I am fucking SICK!!! I AM FYUCKIMG SICKKK!!!!!!!! Of baby-cant-do-nothin-right-pussy-boy Lucas, characterized in fanart or fanfics. I don't want him to just be a stoic asshole, but I also don't want the crybaby part to be laid on too thick, y'know? Characterize him with thought. He can still be a gentle crybaby, but don't make that his whole thing, who cries at any small thing that happens
As much as I love Brawl, it was the start of this trend. As much as I love subspace emissary, they absolutely did Lucas fucking DIRTY. What the fuck is he doing, getting scared over these fuckin doll guys and the poo-poo gas ??? I do understand that he doesn't have his friends and dog with him, so he's lost faith in his solo battling ability. I guess. Also is this after the game ended, where he's endured the worst fucking battle of his life?? Or pre time-skip, making smash, or at least subspace Lucas, a little baby man who hasnt gone thru character development yet? Most likely not. I don't know. Subspace's characterization with Lucas was fucking foul. It started the trend of writing Lucas like a little bitch because that's how most of the world was introduced to him. Most people haven't played his game, so they see him as this little BITCH BOY AUUHGHHHHH
Sorry, I'm rambling and not finishing any of my thoughts, but this is something I have to properly write an essay on or make a fuckin YouTube video about or something. Jesus
I do have to say I think Ness' character in Subspace was pretty cute. I wanna see more fanfics where Lucas gets upset with Ness because he protects him too much and Lucas proves himself as strong enough without Ness' help. And then they kiss maybe. Maybe even hold hands ..
Also I am RIDDLED with Nesscas brain I forgot that's literally what Lucas goes thru when he's with Red, I forgor. But most people just think about the Ness Died Because of Lucas Scene in subspace, not how he protects himself and Red later. Oughhhhhh
PENIS BLAST let's just start over, all the way back in 2008 everybody, cmon, let's go, into the phase distorter
#mother 3#lucas mother 3#ssb#super smash bros#roni says stuff#i really chose violence w this one#ask game#ask porkysadvisors

well, i did it! i finished the main story for granblue fantasy: relink :) junk thoughts below (with spoilers)!
first, the things i liked!
the gameplay. i love love love how dynamic and fast-paced it is! i'm boring and my main character throughout the entire playthrough was djeeta: i tried playing as katalina but idk lol i think i was just too used to djeeta to fully switch to her. plus i think her CPU does a much better job of playing as her. when i played as io during one of her sidequests was also pretty fun but i just had to stick with djeeta! leveling up her Artes and then going ham on enemies with them all leveled up never got old. also doing link attacks and skybound arts is soooo satisfying, especially when it would deal the final blow to a boss! i have to admit at first it took me a while to get the hang of it, especially dodging/blocking enemy attacks and i kept going into critical condition or whatever, but once i got better at it, doing quests and fighting bosses was something i would really look forward to.
the bosses. ok i gotta say, granblue fantasy:relink has some of the best boss fights in a video game i've ever played. i mentioned it in my previous posts but i swear almost each boss had a different interesting gimmick instead of it just being "keep attacking until it's dead". i think my favorites were excavillion, when you fight the machines using rolan, fighting as bahamut, and of course the final battle where you're trying to rescue Id. like the boss battles were just so insane and a lot of stuff would be happening at once especially when they'd go into overdrive, but running around jumping trying to evade their attacks, although intense, is part of the fun of these battles!! idk i'm just really impressed with how dynamic these boss battles were and just gotta say hats off to the team that designed them, just super fun and satisfying to play through.
main character selection. ok as someone completely new to the series and not having looked up anything about this game beforehand other than what i saw in the official trailer shown in one of the state of plays, i had no idea you could choose the gender of the main character, so this was a pleasant surprise! i mean, other than her atrocious first outfit before you get to chapter 4 or whatever it is when you get your real armor, it's cool that you can just decide what gender your character is cus i mean, it doesn't really affect the story in any way so at least i'm not stuck with the default silent male protagonist :P
the music. coming from having played the last few entries of the tales of games, it was definitely great to hear some music that actually makes me feel something and isn't just background noise. i'll have to give the full OST a proper listen without me being distracted with a fight, but yeah for sure looking forward to reliving the experience with the music! edit: ok now that i'm listening to the OST with headphones on i can honestly say this is one of the best video game soundtracks i've ever heard in a game. like, i knew it was good and i knew there were some bangers in there but my god i just wasn't paying enough attention to it because i was too focused on the battles. like yeah the folca theme and the first forest section you entered i remembered being so good but like. excavillion primal III. managarmr primal II. seedhollow castle battle. ruined city vallion battle. and i'm not even done yet. what the hell what the hell the OST alone is enough to make this into a fantastic game holy shit.
post-ending content?? ok i only did the first quest as Id but i thought it was cool that, although the main story only took me 19 hours to complete, it looks like there is a LOT left to do as part of picking up where rolan left off + new quests?? plus i still need to finish the side chapters for the characters i'm interested in, so yeah, even though i finished the main story, there's still much to do!
rolan. what a cool chill dude. i mentioned in my post that i thought it was really neat how he turned out to be one of the most powerful characters in the game (i thought he was going to betray us or something), and was so sad when he first "dissolves" when fighting angra. i thought it was Id who was going to be sacrificed at the end but, glad that Id joins the party even if that means that rolan is now...floating in between dimensions or whatever. but don't worry, we will save you, mr fix it dude!
the story. again, as someone completely new to the series, i think the game did a pretty good job at catching you up with what happened in the previous game and giving you the background story of each of the crew members that are already there. and even so, the main story that develops throughout the game was interesting enough to keep me hooked. i mean it's nothing out of this world like i'm used to with other JRPGs i've played: there wasn't really any character development other than Id and MAYBE Rolan (Zathba also?? idk), since the crew that you're traveling have already traveled together in the previous game so they all know each other and whatever development had to happen happened in the first game (from what I understand), so i mean, i guess that was also different but can't complain too much since it looks like this game was born from a mobile game.
ok just something i thought was cool was in the final battles where your former enemies (i forget their names...it's the sword lady and the huge dude) join you in the fight and THEN zathba + other people you helped along the way bring their ships and help you against angra...like...damn, that shit was cool! another instance of these boss battle keeping it interesting!!
and now....for the things i didn't particularly like + other misc. thoughts.
the character side chapters. ok i think the first two or so of each starting character are great for catching up us newcomers, but then after that....idk, i wasn't really interested in the story that they'd be trying to tell. like, i know i'm not done with all of the chapters for any of the characters, so my mind might still change, but so far, not really impressed lol. they aren't really engaging enough for me yet and can...actually be quite boring with the storytelling! but oh well, we'll see if my mind changes once i'm done with the starting characters quests!
the overworld. i can't say i really missed having an overworld that would connect all of the levels. thinking back, most of the overworlds of other JRPGs i've played are quite boring to traverse through and the only reason you go through them is for treasure or finding new armor, which here in granblue you get them through quests. so, while not having an overworld is not something i'm used to, i'd say for this game it was fine not to have it.
the town sidequests. i mean, they're your typical fetch sidequests/defeat X monsters which don't really involve any interesting engagement with the NPCs that are requesting your help, so i'm a bit disappointed that that's all these sidequests are instead of something a bit more appealing.
the characters talking during boss fights. A LOT. like, i decided to play it in japanese and man, sometimes it'd be hard to keep up with what they were saying + paying attention to what's going on in the battlefield. especially in the last battle lol rolan was going on and on about...idk SOMETHING and i'm out here trying to stop Versa from fucking destroying the world haha. i mean just a minor nitpick but yeah
ok this is getting longer than i thought it would lol but despite the few negatives there at the end, i gotta say, i'm now a fan! i DOUBT i'll play the first granblue since...it looks like it's a turn-based game and i am terrible at those, but i'm really looking forward to where the series goes from here! i'm glad i decided to pick this up and kinda regret not getting the deluxe edition lol but oh well! there's always next time! :) but heck yeah, just overall had a pretty damn good time and can't wait to do more quests!
