the easy grip on the knife. the leg over the seat. the hand over the other seat. the sassy "come get it" move. you know the bitch is smiling behind that mask even as he said the line.

something. about. the horror of being sent on an impossible (death) quest and obligations and hospitality politics. the trauma of not having a home, and then the trauma of being in a house that becomes actively hostile to you, one that would swallow you whole and spit out your bones if you step out of line. all of this is conditional, your existence continues to be something men want gone.
it's about going back as far as I can with the perseus narrative because there's always a version of a myth that exists behind the one that survives. the missing pieces are clearly defined, but the oldest recorded version of it isn't there! and there's probably something older before that!! but it's doomed to forever be an unfilled space, clearly defined by an outline of something that was there and continues to be there in it's absence.
and love. it's also about love. even when you had nothing, you had love.
on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is Not About Ovid Or Roman-Renaissance Reception, Depictions And Discourses On The Perseus Narrative.
edit: to add to the above, while it's not about Ovid, because I'm specifically trying to peel things back to the oldest version of this story, Ovid is fine. alterations on the Perseus myth that give more attention Medusa predate Ovid by several centuries. this comic is also not about those, either! there are many versions of this story from the ancient world. there is not one singular True or Better version, they're all saying something.

Give me widower Mav who has come to terms with his husband’s death and now gets to make jokes and comments about it which makes people uncomfortable while he finds it hilarious pls
As someone who lost their father a long time ago I have reached that point where I can make jokes and comments and like to my close friends it’s funny but to someone I don’t know it’s… strange cause they don’t know how to react and it’s truly a small moment of absolute joy cause they make it weirder than it needs to be
Here is what I mean:
Fanboy: Hi Mav! I like your hoodie!
Mav: thanks, it belonged to my dead husband
Fanboy:
Mav: he’s not gonna use it so
Hangman, pointing at the ring on Mav’s dog tags: you’re married?
Mav: I was, but sadly he died on a terrible accident
Hangman: oh I’m sorry—
Mav: I’m kidding, he didn’t die on an accident
Hangman: oh thank god I thought I—
Mav: he died of cancer
Mav: my husband used to hate this movie
Phoenix: what made him change his mind?
Mav: oh he didn’t, he just died
Mav: I miss my husband
Coyote: why, where is he?
Mav: I want to say heaven but he was a weird man so honestly I don’t know
Cyclone: Maverick where is the paperwork I asked for
Mav: oh I’m sorry? I was mourning the death of my husband, in case you hadn’t noticed, the audacity, I cannot believe you would come for a widower like this—

Mikes's family being super religious, so when he's having thoughts of others boys, he starts panicking and getting really anxious because "oh no, god will hate me". But then when he kisses Will for the first time, he knows that he isn't a mistake because god wouldn't have made two boys kissing feel so good, and feel so right, if it was wrong

I would argue that Megumi leaving Gojo out of his loved ones when thinking about his idealist life with Tsumiki and Yuji highlights the continued tragedy that is Satoru Gojo's lack of communication and connection skills. Alsoooo (and this might be an asspull) it feeds into my perception that both Megumi and Gojo wanted the relationship to be deeper but both couldn't ever come to truly understand one another and connect on that level. And I have alot more comments on that but that will wait till another day if I feel like it lol

my Jewish grandma at dinner:
“Ok so we have wonton soup and sushi and scallion pancakes… and your aunt made a salad. Here’s a fork to serve the sushi…”
“Are you sure just that’s going to be enough for you?”
“the salad’s really good. It’s like peanuts and vegetables. Your aunt made it. We have wonton soup too do you want that?”
“Do you want something to drink? Seltzer? Water? do you want cold water or hot water?”
“Do you want some fruit with your dinner? Chana? Do you want any fruit? We have blueberries, raspberries, strawberries…”
“We got pizza the other night, we have leftovers, do you want some of that?”
“Do you want a yogurt? Do you still eat yogurt?”
“Do you want a bialy? Your aunt brought them over. I could toast you one with some muenster. Or cheddar.”
“Oh and your aunt and cousin made a… what was it? Brownies? Chocolate cake? Do you want some of that?”
“I think we have Ben & Jerry’s in the fridge. Do you want any ice cream?”
“Would you like an apple? Or some grapes?”
“Are you sure you’re full? We have more food if you’re not full.”

Photos of your childhood that really make you go "Oh, Hmm."
Tumblr media
This may come off as trauma dumping, but its funny to me so im going to post it anyway Very recently I've been tidying up a little and going through photos of my childhood, boring shit like class photos basically and Holy Shit child me was so fucked up, lmfao like, in all my class photos, the Horrors were so directly written on my face that the contrast between me and my classmates were Deranged Like I cannot explain in words alone how fucking clearly written it was all over my face how fucked up I was I had to draw a picture of it I will caveat I'm in my 30's now and it's been a long time and im good now, but holy shit young me, IM looking at you thinking "There's something fucked up with this child" anyway enjoy my hastily draw recreation of what i think is my 6th grade class photo anyway if you Share that feeling just comment "Big Oof" on the post If you have similar childhood photos to mine comment "Yo! Same Childhood!!"
