Just thinking about s4 but when Alpha!Eddie grabs Steve to shove the bottle against his neck, he doesn't realize Steve is an omega and accidentally scruffs him. And Steve is just boneless, kinda goes down. And Eddie isn't expecting deadweight and almost falls ontop of Steve but realizes what's happening (let's just say he's fought off a few bullies who scruffed members of his pack). He immediately drops the bottle and holds onto Steve, who tries to scent Eddie. Just shoves his face into Eddie's neck and nuzzles it, lets out a purr unintentionally.

need everyone to lock in and watch farscape s3 bc i do think it rhymes w severance in an insane way. farscape s3 is the season of death, but it's also the season of love. the point is that you cannot love w/o the possibility of that love being taken from you. to love is to grieve. which also rhymes w the brontës of course, but villette especially. the peacekeepers in farscape are "perfect soldiers" bc they are not allowed to feel emotions. all death, no love. it's the same lie as severing yourself. the same lie as lucy snowe's lies. so for aeryn, a former peacekeeper, to make herself vulnerable to love, she also needs to make herself vulnerable to the possibility of losing it. which s3 confronts her with. john and aeryn can only truly be together once they've gone through the wormhole of losing each other. and losing themselves too. aeryn is afraid of love bc she can lose it, and both of them are afraid of love bc it represents a foundational change in who they are, and that is a kind of death too. to love is to change. to live is to change. if you can't love, that's one kind of death: stasis. and if you do love that's another kind of death: change. you cannot love and be alive w/o holding both in your head. w/o confronting the internal conflict. it makes me feel crazy bc the whole point is feeling crazy. you can't ever resolve it but u also can't have any of the things you want unless you accept you can't resolve it.

and meanwhile gem is just roleplaying. like, she was a being from another world who just came there because she wanted to play at being a human princess for a while. and then when she's called away she's just like. anyway i was never actually a princess or a mortal being from this dimension and we're never gonna see each other again, sorry for the existential crisis, bye!

and anyway i think she has a similar deal in the life series. like, everyone else is there because they're trapped in the Torment Nexus, gem is there because she wants to be.
