JANUARY: morkday + holding hands [x]

the most popular and tbh my personal favorite was this morkday edit i made based on a quote that is from the damn city of bones (2007) by cassandra clare. i didn't know that back when this quote punched me in the face and made me think about it for a couple of days but i honestly laughed when i finally googled it... worked out very well tho! i love hand symbolism, especially in last twilight, and the golden colors are lovely for them ♥ i also ended up loving the last image in this set even if i first struggled with the composition.

(also gotta add that it still feels insane that last twilight was still going on in 2024... it feels like it was ages ago. i barely remember most of it anymore, probably bc of the heartbreak and trauma. i'm a changed person in january 2025)

FEBRUARY: valentine's day vice versa rewatch [x]

my best decision for last year was to rewatch both my school president and vice versa during the time before valentine's day. it healed me, held me gently, filled me with love and warmth. am happy that the set i made after that to show love, once again, for the romance show and soulmates couple of all time was both my most popular and personal fave ♥ i love how the set turned out and how the colors work in this. i will forever be thankful to vice versa for its colors and overall brilliance.

MARCH: 23.5 episode 3 [x]

it's a close call between several of my 23.5 episode edits but this happens to be the most popular one during this month. i never finished 23.5 which somehow saddens me, but towards the end, i just lost interest, and so this edit series was also left unfinished. i liked the concept tho and loved playing with the colors each week!

tribute to mork methas [x]

personal favorite cannot be any other edit than this bc i put all my heart into creating it. i am still so angry about what last twilight did to mork as a character; how all his trauma and pain was pushed aside, how the story never gave him the space and time he needed, how on top of all else they managed to butcher this amazing man. i don't even want to look at him in episode 12 bc i cannot recognize mork there. he is no that person, at least not to me. mork my beloved, i wish the writers didn't hate you so much </3

(btw i have this whole explanation/essay written under this post in my drafts. it's mostly me sharing in detail the thought process behind me making this edit and going through the several elements in it. if anyone is curious, i can post it, just holler haha)

APRIL: us / thamepo pilot crossover [x] [x]

the most popular edit for this month deserves to be the edit i made for the us pilot that was revealed during gmmtv 2024 part 2. i am still very excited to see the show itself and follow their filming journey occasionally on twt. i am just soooo ready to break my heart over the tragic lesbians woven together with strings of comfort, self-discovery, and heart ache.

this was my number 2 post on my tumblr top ten.

i picked the thamepo sister set as my personal fave bc i cannot separate these two. it was fun to connect them together and switch around the dialogues we hear in these pilots bc they just worked. they had very similar vibes and both talked about somewhat forbidden love. no wonder am currently so into thamepo (i hope it stays that way, am done with all the disappointment i've experienced with shows lately).

MAY: 23.5 episode 9 [x]

the most popular set of the month. not much else to comment. i love the shot of ciize in this one, she's so cute :(

puentalay k-i-s-s-i-n-g [x]

my favorite for this month! a very impulsive edit that happened solely bc this ear worm of a song (that puen would def listen to) wouldn't leave me alone. it's silly, it's fun, it's cute, it's sexy, it's passionate. it's everything i could ask for! i honestly had a ton of fun with this edit despite having to edit a bazillion (26) separate images for this. the fact that those images are mostly of puentalay kisses makes it worth it.

JUNE: we are episode 12 [x] / 11 [x]

during summer, i was deep in my we are era. i honestly loved each set i made for the series bc for the longest time, i've wanted to make sets like this. i had my struggles with some of them but they all worked out in the end! episode 12 was the most popular one and episode 11 is just my personal favorite bc i love the purple + hints of yellow/golden -combo.

JULY: we are final episode [x]

to honor this show and all its relationships, from romantic to platonic, i decided on a rainbow set. it worked super well and i am happy it was so popular ^^ i miss this whole bunch and the amazing summer we had together. (sorry about the quality of this screenshot, the set is too long to fit it on my screen hhh)

morkday + pvris songs [x]

probably my favorite set i've made this year overall. my whole year was defined by pvris's music (my spotify top artist) and it felt appropriate to link it together with morkday (and puentalay). i love the layout of this set, the colors, the noise. getting into the lyrics and choosing fitting parts for each image was the best part. my favorite image in the set is the last one that i started from while creating this set. i love the background image for that so much. another one i like is the green one for anywhere but here, bc of the image itself but also bc of the song and its message.

AUGUST: we are couples [x]

due to traveling around a lot in august and being exhausted from that, i didn't create much. but i am extremely happy with this set that is both the most popular and my personal favorite! everything about this one just worked out. i feel like it really summarizes all of these couples and shows their different sides.

as a fun fact, i have to say that i never put too much thought into choosing the animals for each couple, other than picking the bird for chainpun (for obvious reasons). cat for phumpeem came through peem more than phum who is very dog coded to me. instead, dog (or wolf?) ended up with tanfang bc of tan's puppy-like nature. qtoey getting the bunny feels like a stroke of genius given to me during the making of this set bc looking at it now, it's perfect. they have that sweetness and energy in them i connect with rabbits.

SEPTEMBER: sanvee + moon phases [x]

ok i might have lied in the july part bc this might be my overall favorite edit i made in 2024. creating it was a battle tho, and i felt like screaming for the best part of the process bc nothing felt like it was working out and i had a ton of problems while figuring out the aesthetic and the typo and the texts. but it all came together better than i ever expected and i just love this set now. i was happy to see ppl liked this too, so this is the most popular edit of this month.

(oab)plawan + hurt by sleeping at last [x]

it's hard to pick a favorite for this month – despite the sanvee edit already being my obvious FavoriteTM – bc i also love my set for miss mhon (day's mother) [x] that let me went my frustration towards her and my puen x phum parallels set [x] that makes me feel wrong in the head. but i loved this love doesn't have long beans a crazy amount compared to how short and silly that show was. there's just something about oab and plawan - about sailub and pon. they dragged me deep into places with this show and this edit is my ode to that. it was fun to make in its simplicity, i love the colors in it, and pon as plawan is just too pretty (especially when he cries).

OCTOBER: pluto episode 1 [x]

considering how popular pluto has been and how desperate we all are for gls, am not surprised this set is the most popular one for this month. tbh all my pluto edits have been doing quite well in my standards. i love making these so am just happy you guys like looking at them ♥

pit babe pairs + cartomancy [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

never thought 2024 had a sudden pit babe obsession in its sleeve for me but i decided to embrace it. they've talked that the second season would start airing in april, after boys' journey s2 has ended most likely, and i am so very normal about all thi. i've fallen in love with all these boys, both the characters (more than i already was) and the actors, and this edit series only made everything worse. i haven't spent this much time researching things for an edit in a while and i just loved all the analysis i got to do. the process had its ups and downs but overall, i have to say i had a blast.

(picture chosen purely bc i vibed with this kim picture today, tho the kentakim edit might also be my favorite in the set bc the yellow is so good)

NOVEMBER: pluto episode 4 [x]

absolutely deserves to be the most popular set of this month! it's also my personal favorite out of all the edits i've made for pluto. the colors for this one just worked super well and the scenes are perfect, too. let's see how the series ends in two days, i hope i manage to find some fitting colors for the last episode, too :'D

the most popular set and also my favorite of this month, all bc i've gone down the rabbit hole with fangs of fortune. i spent an embarrassing amount of time making this set with all its details; starting from screenshotting the whole damn show and then picking the pictures for this edit from the over 400 images i got, to drawing the golden lines by myself on my drawing tablet so i got them just like i wanted. i shall be making so many more edits for this show, be warned.

it was fun to look back into my year in edits like this and see how i've gone through so many phases in 12 months. i cannot even recognize the person i was in around, let's say, last february. or during summer. it's insane how the night changes or however that thing goes.

Abe no Seimei [Starbright Spell] ~

his name was the easiest part of doing all of this, I liked how it rolled off my tongue the second I thought of it.

Seimei’s cutie mark is obviously his star aka his powers! What better way to express that ‘this is him’ than this? I would have done some swirls around it but they felt too distracting.

for his deign I obviously (again) had to make it as similar to the other two as I could, which meant I had to match them. I probably would have been more colorful. Originally I was gonna make him a unicorn in his regular clothes but I didn’t really know how to put his clothes on a pony/than Ame would be all alone in the naked department, so only hat…also

Abe Amaaki [Rainright Guard] ~

For the record, all the names are pending ok? They can’t all be winners! Anyway I wanted his name to match with Haru’s (in both have ‘g’ starting second names).

As for his cutie mark, I wanted so show how much he loves Haru. Yes this butt tattoo is for how much of a brocon he is! Since a cutie mark has been shown to not include your job necessarily but instead be more of a ‘this is your personality, likes, & something special/unique to you’ I thought this would make more sense. I probably should have turned his symbol black to show how he doesn’t have powers (as far as we’ve been shown if my memory serves me right) but it ok like this since this is just a silly AU. Concept wise it’s above seimei but design it could have been better I like to think he got his early, like after he vowed to love and protect Haru with all his life, only to be forever tattooed with a reminder of that vow on his flank (which he wears proudly)

honestly though, his character design is my second favorite, but I wish I did more (maybe add his blazer jacket or shades?). If he didn’t have to be an identical twin with Haru, I would probably have given his a different color palette but this still fits him in my opinion.

Abe Haruaki [Sunbright Quill] ~

His name took me so long and I still feel iffy on it, but I think it really works for him. Tho I could have gone for what his name means (clear weather) but that sounded more like a pegasus who works for the sky factory than a teacher, so I made this one.

his cutie mark is for his ‘sunny’ personality with his students while also being mistaken for Seimei’s. I like this one the best, shows his personality but not too overly detailed. Also it could be mistaken for Seimei’s if you forgot or don’t know seimei. If it didn’t have to be similar to seimei’s (gotta keep that reincarnation/look alike thing going in all AUs) it probably would have been more teacher-y, like chalk turning into a star/sun. Though I know for a fact he would be a blank flank until he started teaching at school (probably chapter 3/episode 1). Ame would cover up his mark to make Haru feel better for being wrongfully bullied for his blank status for sure!

this is my favorite design overall, it’s the reason both the others aren’t the best cause they’re based off of this one. I love the colors & his outfit details. I just love this one the best!

Okay ramble that will probably not get anywhere but I will put it here anyway because I saw yet another post about people struggling to get any writing done. And someone in the comments made a good point. You write/draw so much more as a kid because you're less practiced and ergo less worried about the imperfections that may arise from just gunning it.

And this is true! And this is why I want to tell you if you are struggling to write much, learn to write like a kid again.

You know how with a lot of art you see processes and it always starts with really shitty thumbnails that have silly faces or just blobs of color? Then you have an actual sketch (during which the artist likely moves a lot of shit around on a digital canvas) and then possibly the inking phase or just painting which is more blobs that slowly get sharper and sharper the more the images is rendered.

Yeah uh, do that with writing. Going under the cut because long

Writing as a process is something that is unique to an individual, just like there's 800 ways to slap paint on a canvas. If you look at guide books for writing and none of it is sticking it's not cause you're a failure that technique is just not gelling for you.

And as such I can only speak from MY experience with it but like, here's how I generally stay on top of projects

A) Sketch phase! It's outline time baby! "Ughh but outlines suck" listen I know school made the outline phase of an essay the worst fucking thing ever but hear me out on this. Sure some people CAN write by the seat of their pants but in terms of long projects this does not work out for me. I'm inevitably gonna hit a point where idk where to go from there and it's so hard to map all that out in long form

Listen, outlines are not there to be formal. They're not even there to be fancy. This is time to get down the bare bones and if you have to make it only a paragraph long and then extend that paragraph into multiple then DO it.

Like hell, NONE of my outlines are formatted the same! Some are a paragraph per chapter. Others are just endless bullet points that I split up later. I'm sure in one book due to all the plotlines I'm just going to have a storyline for each character laid out in columns so I can draw lines between them. Whatever works.

And again, do not have to be formal, like here is a legit line in one of my outlines

As for the ruined building… Hypno will cover the damages……….. Right? : )

Go crazy.

B) Now that you have your baselines start working on the actual story. Do you like writing shit out of order? Do it, because with an outline you still have your baselines to reference for any important details you don't wanna forget "Remember [character] is supposed to get a scar in chapter five!" Or write shit in order, and every time you hit a lull consult those baselines to say "oh yeah that's where this chapter was going"

And hey, keep writing it like a kid if that's what it takes to get this crap down. Hit a fight scene you don't wanna write? Slap down some brackets. [Insert a fight scene here where [character] gets his head smashed in so he ends up with this concussion later like a dumbass]. Boom, done, worry about it later.

Worried the dialogue isn't flowing well? Slap open another document or grab some paper and write it out in a play format to keep it moving. Add in all the beats, expressions, and details after.

Not sure if this detail you're putting in is historically accurate? Leave an easy to search symbol in the doc so you can go back to it to research later.

Write the sappy shit. Write with poor grammar (but still like, comprehensible you know what I mean). Slip in adverbs to swap out with strong verbs later. Use a run on sentence.

"But it's gonna sound bad" Who cares who tf cares that's what editing is for ! You go back and refine that shit and clean up sentences and add in all the extra research and pull out the repetitive words.

You gotta quit treating writing like you're supposed to just swing your brush on the canvas and suddenly you have some beautiful scenery. There's layers. There's blobs that turn into refined shapes. There's blending and shading. There's fine lines and thick lines. And sometimes there's mistakes that you have to wait until it dries to go back over it again.

It is a process! Let yourself have FUN with the process.

do you happen to have thoughts on/preferred designs for alice :0

AKBSKNSKDNDJ DO I EVER. i have noodled around a LOT with alice designs, so i've put a pretty fair amount of thought into this!!!

when i start thinking about character designs, my main considerations are profession and personality - luckily, we actually know a fair bit about both of those things for alice! personality-wise, alice is rambunctious, mischievous, but ultimately a very caring person as we know she really tries to look out for both albedo and klee but also diluc, etc. the impression i've gotten from her is a little dramatic, over-the-top, fiery but sweet. as for her profession, she's obviously a witch and a very powerful one at that to be an elder of hexenzirkel, but it doesn't seem to be her primary profession - she's an adventurer and an inventor!

what this means design-wise is that i like to think she has a sort of swashbuckler, intrepid explorer type-vibe (almost treasure planet inspired, if that makes sense). naturally she's gotta have the big hat, but i like to stray away from genshin's usual witchy aesthetic and more towards what i'd expect from an expert adventurer and explorer like her, as well as a little steampunky given her inventions.

the only design i've ended up posting for her has a big, fun red coat and it was a bit of an impulse choice on my part but i really like the coat! i feel like it just really captures her Vibe. i also like the boots in that design - i would maybe add in more detailing, but i think the boots-pants-vest combo suits her a lot as well. i can't really imagine her with a skirt - knowing hoyo, she'll probably have one, but i just don't think it fits what we know about her. there's a lot of stuff i'd change about that design now tho, maybe i'll take another crack at it when i've got free time again...

as somebody who's potentially a foreigner to teyvat (i'm a little rusty on her lore - was this confirmed? somebody lmk), loves tea parties, and is named "alice", this also brings in a potential alice in wonderland theme! this is one thing i'd change about my design - i'd like to bring in more card suit theming and aesthetics, maybe instead of the clover symbols like klee i used in my posted design. i think it would really "suit" (pun intended) her, as somebody who's a bit of a trickster.

i also always love making connections between characters who are close with designs, so i like to use a palette that's similar to klee for her! more oranges/pinks if i were to redo my design for her, but i like the red/beige/brown palette a lot for her, and i really like making her eye/hair color the same as klee. i saw a really cool design of her ages ago that drew inspiration from elysia from hi3, and i liked that idea so i stole some ideas from elysia's hair for my alice hairstyle LOL

i'm sure i have more thoughts on this that haven't occurred to me in this moment, but that should be most of it!

Lately, I've realized how much I consider fashion design when I'm doing character designs. It only struck me when I was doodling those Pokemon redesigns, how I care about the outfits characters wear and how it coordinates and the details and what it SAYS about the character wearing it!

Hideyoshi's fit is about him being sloppy, careless, but still a legitimate professor (somehow). He's got the labcoat but it's slipping off his shoulder, slacks but a tropical shirt (collar unbuttoned, half untucked). His hair is pulled back but not properly; he's got a bit of stubble! His slacks are baggy on him... A size too big? Or an old-fashioned style? His shoes are worn converse--not an athletic shoe, but he gets up and moves, he's a bit active! Despite it all, there's still touches to point towards legitimacy, though. A clean coat, pen in the shirt pocket, a proper belt... He's making an attempt, just not succeeding! I think when it's time to draw the actual professor, I'll mirror a lot of it... Make it clear what he's aiming for.

Mayumi, on the other hand, is aiming for "office worker who doesn't want to stay at her desk." Her look is fundamentally a nice pantsuit... Well tailored and coordinated in business appropriate colors, with some fashionable touches that wouldn't be out of place in the office. She's not wearing a blazer but her vest and shirt are both classy and tailored, and she's coordinated her tie with the rest of her outfit (I drew small but I imagine the pin on her tie to be a symbol of the Pokemon League). And for all that, she's still active! Wide legged pants highlight movement, a chunky heeled boot is easier to move in than high heels, and she's rolled up her sleeves! I wanted to convey a woman who looks ready to throw down but still clearly fits an office setting.

I worked out Kaori's outfit yesterday, trying to keep elements from her original look (kimono styled neckline and sleeves, bandana and hair pin) while adding some feminine touches... I'm going with a skort-like pair of overalls, long socks and Mary Janes for a very girly look that I want to evoke Pokemon protagonist outfits. I'm giving her some kind of pokegear and a Pokemon Protagonist bag, too. I want to keep her vibes, but I also want her to feel like a proper trainer...

Wakana and Defiant are next on my list, and here I find myself stumped a bit. I could draw THEM, but I'm trying to figure out what they WEAR.

Wakana's tricky in two ways: first, her initial design is maybe one of the best I've ever designed and second, she's got a certain detachment from her clothing! She cares for textures and how some clothing fits, and she wants to have elements of traditional Japanese clothing, but otherwise I conceive of her as someone who typically wears what other people buy for her. There's a reason her DA3 outfit is primarily her uniform and her initial FFD look was supposed to be "just clothing she owns". It's harder thinking about what she would want to wear in this setting... And I think I also have to decide where she is in her life and how she relates to her family. I've got some ideas, but nothing solid yet.

Defiant is also a bit hard bc... She's a game character. Most of her outfits are based directly off clothing in game, so I'm picking from limited options rather than choosing my own. And when I do draw her in other clothes, I've done a lot of VERY cutesie or sexy looks, neither of which feels right for what I'm hoping to do. It's such a different setting from FFXIV, too, so there's a lot to revise and reimagine.

I know most of this is... Like. It's only me who is thinking this deeply! But it means a LOT to me to put the thought in, and I want to have it just right. My little hill to die on.

And heres a newer sketch of her that I drew just to compare her height to all my other oc's (she's the tallest one) I forgot the markings around her eyes in this one but WE CAN JUST IGNORE THAT

First, simple info :

Species : Silver fox

Age : 18

Ability : Gravity Manipulation (with the usage of her gem. Because if Sega will keep not using the variety of magical gems they have besides the Chaos Emeralds I WILL, AND ILL MAKE MORE TOO)

So in terms of alliance, she's on the villains side. In the past, she was a normal Mobian with a love for exploration. At some point she fell into a cave and lost all her memories but her name, the first thing she found down there as an amnesiac being that gem she has on her hand (gotta keep up with the “evil characters that can use magical gems” squad) She has no idea what it’s called, (Totally not bc I had no ideas yet.) All she knows is that it has the strange power to manipulate gravity around her (Think kind of the void wispon from Sonic Forces.)

Shortly after that, she ran into Eggman, who took an interest in her apparent lack of understanding who she is or how she got here, and the gem she has. He could always use another lackey. Due to now thinking she was part of the Eggman Empire before losing her memories, she "rejoins." There, she also meets and rivals with a very annoying platypus fanboy. Despite how similar they are to everyone else, they HATE ONE ANOTHER.

Nowadays, she's left the Empire as well, and hangs around and allies with Doleon and, MUCH TO HER DISAPOINTMENT, STARLINE. AGAIN. She calls the three of them "Team Gem" (mostly because it gets them angry, what a stupid name.) She's like the annoying little sister of the group 😅

As for her personality, I used the symbolism of the fox itself. She’s cunning, intelligent, a quick thinker and a bit of a trickster/mischief maker. She also has a bit of an anger issue, getting frustrated easily when nobody is listening to her or doing things as she planned them. She considers herself the leader of everything she does, and has high expectations for herself. She's also a BIG sass talker. Some extra things about her :

Sometimes she gets the slightest idea that maybe she WASN'T part of the Eggman Empire before her amnesia. Some things don't add up, but that doesn't mean its ALL wrong...right?

I imagine she drinks A LOT of coffee.

She can be both thoughtful and reckless with her powers. Depends on the situation.

She has a whole routine for her hair so don't you DARE mess it up

Langa & Reki, please, for the ask game...

I'm just gonna answer these two characters together! 🌈❄

My first impression: Thought those two were the cutest. Saw Reki's skate against Shadow and thought "Oh, he has heart. I'm gonna like that one." Shadow did him so dirty though!! With Langa, I just thought he looked like he would be a quiet one.

My impression now: I definitely adore them both. Reki is my favorite character and Langa follows after.

Favorite thing about that character: Besides their personalities, I like their aesthetics. Reki's style is really colorful and I'm a sucker for colors. His hoodies are too cute and I love that his headband's expressions will match his. Langa's ice theme, I like that! Especially since it leans more on the blues and there's some black thrown in there. It matches how they are. I love that while Reki is a bit on the fiery side, his character isn't heavy with the fire/sun symbolism. Instead, it's the rainbow and hibiscus. With Langa, he's ice themed, but he isn't a cold person. He's "cool" to others, he's calm.

Least favorite thing: They made me so frustrated during their whole falling out. I hate that Reki can be so self-deprecating sometimes and I wanted to shake Langa for wanting to still skate against Adam.

Favorite line/scene: Hard to choose when it comes to these two. They have so many great scenes together. To choose I have to go with when they finally make back up and decide to add the Infinity symbol to their handshake. That was too cute! But I also like their scene where Reki pretends to be in distress and Langa is like "Don't worry, bae. I'll protect you."

Favorite interaction that character has with another: Other than with each other, I adore how they interact with the rest of the SK8 squad. Especially with Miya. To choose an interaction, I gotta go with the scene after Reki's rematch with Adam and they just pile on him to make sure he's okay and he's smiling and laughing. Love that.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Ooh, so many options here actually. To pick... okay, I would like to see more of Reki and Langa's time working with Oda. Like, how does Oda deal with those two when they're working at the skate shop. I'm sure they get into a lot of shenanigans. 😆

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: I actually made a post about this for Reki! He and Yuji from Jujutsu Kaisen are like the same person, but in different genres. Hoodie wearing redheads, bright smiles, and have recognized skill that makes amazes others when they do show off those skills, yet often underestimated. Langa reminds me of Shoto Todoroki, especially after the Sports Festival. Ice people who aren't actually cold, love their mamas, talented pretty boys, and have a signature food they like.

A headcanon about that character: Okay, I ended up writing a whole series about this one! I headcanon that Reki likes to let Koyomi paint his nails from time to time. He likes colors and he doesn't mind Koyomi using him for practice. It's also nice to spend quality time with his sister and see her do something she likes. Sometimes, he'll even ask her to paint his nails blue to match Langa, who likes the idea of Reki wearing his color.

A song that reminds of that character: Shawn Wasabi's Animal Crossing. It's such a cute song! And of course, Infinity by Yuuri will always be their song. I can't think of a Langa song, but for Reki, Alessia Cara's My Kind comes to mind.

An unpopular opinion about that character: I actually didn't feel "queerbaited" at the end of the first season. Some people threw out "queerbait" because we didn't see LanReki kiss. Kiss? I was gonna ship them regardless of the ending. We at least were left to interpretation if their relationship is platonic or romantic. I don't think a ship should always be confirmed through a kiss because kissing isn't the only thing romantic couples do. They hold hands, call each other nicknames, hug, tells the other person that they make them happy, etc. Kissing isn't the only gesture used to say "I love you".

☆Tuesday, April 8th, 1986☆

Eddie takes his normal seat at the lunch table, swinging his legs into his chair. Like ducklings, the kids file in around him. 

“Whatcha got there, Baby Byers?” Eddie asks, as Will sets something carefully on the other end of the table. Eddie can’t really see what it is. 

“Finished your DM screen.” Will explains. “Just gotta wait for it to dry now.”

“Shit, really? Lemme see!” Eddie hops up and circles the table. The thin wooden screen looks much different than he’s used to, but it still looks magical. Instead of glossy black, Will’s decorated it with painted symbols in different colors, glowing like they’re about to come to life. 

Eddie lets his hand hover above the paint, not daring to touch the wet paint and ruin it. “Looks incredible, Will.” he says. “You’re a great artist.” 

“Thanks.” Will says, and Eddie crosses back to his seat. 

“When are we gonna play the campaign?” Dustin asks. “I have an idea for my character already!” 

“Oh, really?” Eddie waves at Robin as he sees her enter the cafeteria with some of her band friends, and about half the kids follow his example. The girl she’s walking next to gives her a weird look, probably wondering why Known Ex-Wanted Man Eddie Munson and the entire nerdy freshman population are waving at her. 

She waves back. 

Eddie refocuses on the table. “You can tell me about your characters now, if you’ve got ideas.” He shuffles papers around in his disaster area of a backpack. “I think I’ve got extra character sheets in here.” 

He passes out the sheets to the kids, watching them all get to work. Dustin starts immediately scribbling. Wow, he wasn’t kidding when he said he had ideas for his character. Will and El bow their heads together over their papers, and Will looks like he’s explaining some stuff to El. Mike and Lucas talk together excitedly. 

Eddie, for his part, starts scribbling notes to himself on his hand. Make NPCs, he scribbles. No, that’s too vague. He crosses it out. Make tavern NPCs, he adds. Better. 

The familiar clicking noises of rolling dice make him jerk his head back up. Dustin’s got out his d20, rolling for various stats. Kid after my own heart, Eddie thinks to himself. Always keep a dice set on you. 

Mike snatches Dustin’s d20, rolls for something on his own sheet, then tosses it back, scribbling whatever number he got down. 

The harsh jangle of the bell jerks them all out of their D&D-induced trances, and Eddie says, “Keep those sheets and finish them up before you give them to me!” Dustin tosses his dice back into their plastic container and books it out of the lunch room, grinning and waving back at Eddie and the group as they all disperse, much more slowly. 

Eddie can’t keep his mind off the campaign for the rest of the day. He pulls out a journal, sketching the different monsters he wants to try to incorporate. His chickenscratch penmanship is crammed around each doodle, a brief description to help him when he’s actually narrating the campaign. As each class passes, his hand turns more and more blue with inked words, reminders for later.

He’s not paying attention in class until he hears the dreaded words: “partner assignment”. 

The room is basically empty nowadays, just like the rest of the school. Grant, Gareth, and Jeff weren’t the only ones who left. The school’s population has dropped by the dozens, maybe even hundreds by this point. 

Eddie hunches over, hoping if he’s a small enough target, no one will want to be his partner and he’ll end up alone. Normally he’d be more confrontational, but he’s not looking to start anything and be forced to repeat the year for the fourth time. 

Someone sits in the empty desk next to him. Eddie can’t see who they are, his hair’s in the way.

“You just gonna ignore me, or…?” comes a familiar voice, and Eddie almost cries with relief, tucking his hair out of the way. 

“Birdie, thank god.” he says. “I was gonna do this assignment by myself. You’re my hero. I didn’t even realize you were in this class!”

Robin glares at him. “Okay, seriously? What is with people and not knowing I’m in their class? First Steve, now you?” 

“I’m going to level with you, Buckley, I don’t even know what class this is.” Eddie informs her. “I knew you were in a class of mine, so that should give me a leg up on Harrington, right?” 

Robin looks unamused. “Are you high?” she deadpans. 

“One: how dare you, just because I don’t know where I am does not mean I am under the influence.” Eddie says in a dramatic whisper. “Two: no, I just wasn’t paying attention. Can’t even get weed anymore.” 

Robin sits back. “Okay, are we gonna actually do this project? I think I brutally murdered the rest of my school friendships by coming over here.” She looks across the room, and sure enough, there’s two girls Eddie doesn’t recognize glaring at her.

“Of course we are!” Eddie says. “...what’s the project?”

“I’m gonna hit you with a car,” she informs him, and Eddie barks out a laugh. 

Erica waves off Eddie’s offer of a blank campaign sheet for her character when they pick her up from the elementary school later that day. “I had my own because I was prepared.” she tells him, passing a piece of paper to him. “My character’s done.”

Eddie’s a bit taken aback. “Well then,” he says. “Good for you.” He takes it from her. “Can’t wait to play with you-” he consults the sheet. “Captain Saral Niserie.” 

She scoffs, but Eddie thinks he sees a private, excited smile as she looks back out the window.

☆Thursday, April 10th, 1986☆

“We open in a tavern, settled in the middle of the forest.” Eddie says. He thinks he hears Dustin mumble something about cliches, and levels the little butthead with a glare before continuing. “There are no buildings around as far as you can see, and you are with your party. Starting with…” He places a little figurine on the table, watching Hawkin’s face (they’re an unfamiliar girl, maybe around his age, with short red hair right now) light up. “Hannah Rockebrook, a level eight human warlock.” Eddie walks her across the table and puts her on the board. “Hannah opens the door and ushers the group inside, smiling at the bartenders, a pair of half-elf twins.”

He nods to Dustin, who’s on his left, and Dustin begins to talk. “Zoi, my satyr sorcerer, orders a round at the bar and brings it to the table.” He looks at Eddie. “Can I roll for perception?” Eddie nods. “Seven, with a plus one, so that’s eight.” 

“Zoi sees a poster on the wall and points it out to the group.” Eddie says. “Also, you lose ten gold for paying for the drinks.” 

Erica, who’s next, says, “Saral Nisarie, my cleric selkie, reads it aloud.” She looks at Eddie, because, right, they don’t actually know what it says. 

“Monster hunting!” Eddie announces. “Rewards handsomely for each monster your group kills!” 

The group begins to chatter, and Eddie keeps hearing Dustin and Mike talk about how boring the campaign is already. They haven’t even played for longer than a few minutes! 

Will bangs the table (Lucas’s miniature falls over, and El fixes it with a sharp jerk of her head). “‘I think we should do it!’ my dragonborn Lytlutyl announces.” 

“Wait, wait, wait.” Eddie says. “Say that name again.”

Will sounds it out slowly. “Lee-tuh-loo-till.” 

“Yeah, I’m not saying that every time.” Eddie deadpans. “Can you give her a nickname?” 

Will rolls his eyes. “Fine. What about Lita?” 

“Acceptable.” Eddie waves a hand. “Continue.” 

The group goes around, introducing themselves. El’s chosen to play a ranger, a Drow named Atierith (Ah-tee-er-ith, nicknamed Rith at Eddie’s request) of House Tema. Mike’s a tiefling bard named Celan the Degenerate. Lucas is a wererat artificer, named Iros Wainwright. 

They delay a little bit when Lucas insists on talking with the bartenders (named Ronan and Stella) about the monsters around and learning effectively nothing, but they do manage to make it out of the tavern before the first session’s close, which is more than Eddie had been expecting, to be honest. 

Saral lights off Hand of Radiance, and her hand begins to glow so the party can see in the woods. They walk for in-game hours, unable to find the monsters Stella and Ronan insisted were everywhere. 

“Wind blows through the trees.” Eddie says. “Uh, Will, make a perception check.”

Will grabs and rolls the d20. “Nat 20!” he cheers. 

Well, Eddie wasn’t expecting that, but he supposes he can give it to them a little early. “Some of the trees aren't reacting to the wind. None of their branches are bending when the wind blows, unlike all the other trees.” 

“Can I throw something at one?” Mike asks.

“Roll dexterity?”

Mike does. “Eleven, with a minus one, so that’s ten.” El makes a little aborted motion, as if reacting to the number, which Eddie doesn’t really get. 

“That hits.” 

“I pick up a rock and throw it at a tree.” Mike says. 

Eddie mentally runs through who’s where. “Lucas, roll athletics?” 

He does. “Fourteen.”

“The tree makes a swipe, narrowly missing you.” 

“Mimic!” Dustin shouts, panicked, and Eddie grins evilly.

“As you all watch, eight trees begin to twist and crack, bending at their halfway points and planting their canopies on the ground like legs. The ground underneath you shudders and shakes.” He traces around their minifigures, splitting the group in half. “Saral, Celan, Rith, and Zoi, you get lifted into the air on the back of the monster. Hannah, Lita, and Iros, you’re stuck on the ground.” 

“Can I cast Inflict Wounds?” Erica asks viciously. 

Eddie looks down at his sheet. The monster’s got a defense of thirteen. “Roll for it?”

She does. “Nine?”

“Sorry, kid.” Eddie says. “The monster feels your attempt to hurt it and growls. The motion shakes its entire body, and you slip off.” 

“Can I catch her?” Hawkins says urgently, appearing right between him and Dustin. 

“Hannah moves to catch her.” Eddie says before Lucas can jump in, because he can see he’s about to. He picks up the d20 Dustin had picked out for him, black with red inked numbers, and rolls for athleticism. 

“She got a seventeen!” Eddie says. “Hannah takes one point of damage from the catch, but Saral, you’re fine, and you land neatly in Hannah’s arms.”

Erica smiles smugly. 

Will jumps in. “Can we try to cut down the tree legs from here?”

Eddie nods. “Go ahead.” 

“Uh, Lita’s got an axe,” Will says, consulting his character sheet. “So she attacks the leg closest to her.” 

“Roll strength?” 

“Eight, saving throw adds two.” 

“She gets about halfway through the trunk before the monster roars and flings her away. Take five hit points.” Eddie says, and Will marks it down. 

The battle’s fun. More chaotic than Eddie’s used to, due to the sheer number of players at his table, but they manage to get through the fight with no deaths. El delivers the final blow, and the table goes wild as Eddie describes the monster curling up and shriveling away.

“There’s something red in the husk of what used to be the monster.” Eddie says, and everyone’s interest is immediately piqued. 

“Iros goes to check.” Lucas says.

“Roll perception.” 

Lucas winces. “Four.” 

“It’s a person with curly hair in a red tunic.” Eddie says. Bare minimum. “They’re lying on their side, asleep.” 

Dustin tilts his head, leaning forward. “Were they possessed? Were they turned into the monster?” 

Eddie smiles evilly at him. 

“Can you heal them, Erica?” Lucas asks. 

Erica sneers at him, but rolls for it anyway. “Sixteen.” 

“They sit up and groan. ‘What happened?’” Eddie says. 

“‘You were a monster,’ Celan tells them.” Mike says. “‘We defeated you and you turned back into this. Can you tell us who did this to you?’”

“‘I don’t remember.’ they say. ‘I was sick, in my bed, and then I woke up here.’” Eddie claps his hands. “I think we gotta end it here for the night, guys.” 

The kids all boo, but El sticks around at the end to thank him for the campaign. “It was fun.” she says. 

“No problem, kid.” Eddie says. “Happy you like it.”

ok so like hear me out i swear-

ok but really tho, i did a pic for todoizuocha week that had my magical girl au in it and i actually had the unfinished draft for this prior to said week but i broke down and finished it lol here's the "main" magical girl group for my au

i have like way too much magic system world-building for this au ngl. the main concept is that every magical "girl" gets a crystal called a "heart charm" it chooses a color and an animal based on the person the color is reflected in their charm color and usually their weapons will glow/be that color too (ex; deku's staff having the same green as his charm) it's vaguely implied it's like their heart color or symbolic and colors can change etc. (note animals cannot change only the color can). heart charms also give people certain powers and buffs like for example transforming gives them a physical buff and stamina buff so if they're normally very weak and frail when they transform it buffs them and makes them strong and energized, they also get personalized powers and weapons from their charms which are kinda used as a replacement for quirks lol (ex; bakugou has his gauntlets that let him make huge explosions but he doesn't have his normal small explosions anymore and cant explode stuff when not transformed) the magic weapons they're given are assigned when they first transform and can't be changed they just gotta get creative with em

there's also like this whole thing i have written out for how the outfits work and the squishes, outfits are manifested light and not real cloth so they act as bulletproof armor and can be changed by feeding a squishy a new design (in the au bakugou designed basically all the hero team outfits) also the squishies are like those little magical girl mascot character things and theres only 2 of them in the au but its ofa and afo as these tiny lil squishes and i have designs for both of them too lol (i don't have the pics of them on my pc rn or id add them here)

anyways i have a half-written plot for this au if anyone is like actually interested in this nonsense, but as of right now it's mostly string and sticky notes so its kinda jank lol

For the cafe collabs for nademono I always imagined a 5 piece but after thinking I realize a 4 piece with a sauce would also make sense

You see if you get 4 different fried things and a sauce it adds differentiations to the concept of them being written and drawn as dipping in sauce is like dipping a pen in ink + you can even write a nadeko signature at the bottom as a concept.

However the reverse could also work, one type of fried dish with 4 sauces on the side as a representation of nadeko putting on different forms of nadeko to become a different facet of self.

There’s a lot of ways to go about it tbh, I could also see them doing yakisoba bc that’s just Nadeko’s actual favorite food. They haven’t been doing noodles for Nadeko collab dishes just for the hair bit.

Granted they could always go for the 5 dessert plan or a thing with 4 distinct toppings/things on a greater object that is nadeko.

I don’t see society as ready for the 5 layer nadeko dish/drink. I think tart flavors better represent nadeko for sweet things bc of the clash of sweet and not and the tartness of a dish can be raised relative to arc, I think a nadeko drink should be a “pick me up” but not super refreshing. Refreshingness in my mind is a sliding scale relative to character vibes or coping mechanisms or openings. But that’s not the same as how caffeinated or how sweet a drink is. And the type of refreshing also depends on the vibes. Does one think of sodachi as more affogato or dalgona? Or is she more of a fruit based drink with egg foam or cheese foam (that may or may not be caffeinated)? That’s up to personal interpretation. I think Nadeko for desserts leans for fruitier tastes bc of fruit and flower symbolism but I wouldn’t say that Nadeko has a tea vibe or a chocolate vibe, Nadeko is more in line with fruit like flavors I wouldn’t say red bean or taro quite suits her but I’d new willing to see arguments. (I think Nadeko would be the type to like red bean as a flavor but be irritated by the bean skins so the experience becomes net neutral) For things like nutty flavors I could see it working mildly but I feel like it sort of runs back around to fruity flavors though the sweet soy sauce flavor you can have on some dango could work it’s an acquired taste and doesn’t fit the type of old fashioned I think Nadeko goes by for (even if she might like it). Nadeko has historically had generally peach to strawberry flavoring in Nadeko drinks, which make sense as peach is pink to orange, and can range from sweet and floral to acidic. And the non humble strawberry plays a big symbolic role in the adaptation of nadeko Medusa. Though that’s a false strawberry but strawberries are fakes in a sense anyway bc the “seeds” are the fruit and the red part is a swollen fruit ovary. Plus false strawberries don’t taste like a lot and when someone sees the word strawberry they lock in and expect that flavor. Character color also often factors into it but I’m getting nadeko out of pink character hell you will become purple. Nadeko blueberry shake with lines of chocolate white chocolate strawberry and raspberry sauce in it would make sense tho for a drink representing the arc of nademono. Nadeko changes so much that you gotta keep inventing new drinks which is why developing a flavor system is very important to consider if you want flavor continuity between these things. I think arc by arc drinks summarizes monogatari characters better because it accounts for change. Granted, coming up with individual flavors is fine too.

The moral of the story is I should probably post my monogatari flavor in theory drink chart based on ops but with side content beliefs. And then refine it with the people of this site’s beliefs in what is ideal as a flavor profile for a character even if they dislike the flavor (I consider flavors I don’t like too and not everyone is gonna be a flavor you want.)

Cis Rambles #5--Hoshi*ga*Hoshii

Welcome to another devlog! Today is a special day!!! The first collection of tunes is released!!!

(Technically it is the 4th, but this is the 1st with all of the goodies attached)

To broaden the world of CisLunar, I wanted to create different musicians within the solar system that are played on Cosmic Canary, Lunar and BonBon's radio station.

While there are other videos posted on the youtube, Hoshi*ga*Hoshii was the first collection of tunes where I really found my footing in creating a specific sound for a character. So let's delve into how she was made!

First things first let's start with her name.

I am off and on teaching myself Japanese as a hobby. I quite like the language and I've always wanted to learn it. You've probably noticed that I've named some characters after different Japanese words. In Hoshi's case, her full stage name is a sentence: I want stars/Hoshi ga Hoshii. I liked how it rolled off the tongue and it felt like the space-hop vibes I was going for.

Let's talk music next!

The main inspiration for her sound actually comes from the anime Carole & Tuesday! I admittedly didn't a lot of it despite it being right up my alley. From what I remember, two girls are trying to make it musically and there's like a competition where musicians from other planets compete. I remember watching videos of the different performers and one stood out to me--GGK

With this as the main inspiration, I wanted to make music that had this same chill, spacey vibe. As you can tell, if you listened to the album that is, I got a bit experimental with some of the songs in terms of some of the songs going a bit darker in tone. All in all I think I matched the vibe I was going for! One thing I liked doing was adding in jazzier elements such as pianos and saxophones and pairing them with strings. I think it turned into a very unique listening experience!

With the music done, next was settling her design. Here are some of her inspiration pics from pinterest:

The main idea I wanted for her was to weave as many infinity-esque symbols as I could.

This was her first pass. I wanted to get the hair correct as I was especially fond of the reference I found. Another key thing I wanted was to make her plus sized. I don't do it often due to my own lack of skill, and I wanted to get better at drawing different sized people. Plus in my mind I never pictured her as a thin person. Either way, I know this is something I gotta keep working on!

Here I wanted to see which eye shape best fit as well. Just like with body shapes, I tend to do the same eyes. I wanted to push myself more on creating diverse characters so I took out some time to really think about my choices. (I worry it still looks like my usual though lol)

Then came the sketch of Hoshi's full design! It took a while to get to this point. I thought of several different dress shapes to go with the top portion of the dress. I wanted her in a gown this time as I wanted to go for a very elegant feel. One of the most elegant characters I can think of is Morticia Addams. There's something about how she slithers around the house in her dress to me. So I decided to emulate that for the skirt portion of the gown.

I really like the top. Like it really makes me happy. I find it very elegant!

For the album cover, I did end up with a bust photo. It always happens to me--I choose the pose before I think of the outfit and the cooler part is always cut off lol

It was actually at this point that I decided to give Hoshi galaxy gradient arms. When I was planning colors, I wanted to add a sparkly element, and I thought to myself: wouldn't be cool her name implies what she already has? She wants stars, so she's getting them.

And this is the final picture!! I am EXTREMELY happy with how this turned out! I haven't really done dramatic lighting before and I was scared to bits, but it really turned out!!! T^T I'm just really happy. I have no words.

And to give my own criticism, she can be chubbier. With more practice I'll be able to draw her to what I truly see in my minds eye. For now though, this is a very good start! Below is a quick timelapse! (I forgot to do it when I was sketching and doing lineart, but we got the coloring!)

Wow where to even start? Chaos meets grace is probably the jist of them isn’t it? We all know opposites attract and it’s always a hook point in many shows but it’s done so well in Class. There’s tropes all over the place but it’s all the ones we love and the chemistry just flows seamlessly. I love loved LOVED Guzman and Nadia in Elite so I was not expecting to love Veer and Saba so much but I did ! Granted they’re not as fleshed out as the Spanish counterpart but just the show is so desi, the local music vibes and characters who are so relatable and real and who we as kids have seen around us, kind of makes Class much closer to my heart than Elite will ever be. It’s darker and more nuanced. The color palette, the cinematography, it’s just so unique and it just adds layers to the show and couples as a whole. While Guzman and Nadia date on fairytale streets of Spain, Veer and saba have dates in the junkyard surrounded by mud, demolition, reconstruction, public eyes and scrutiny and if that’s not symbolic of their uncertain future I don’t know what is.

Lol I guess saba sees in Veer what we all see in him. The subversion of expectations from someone like him. He’s an asshole with everyone else but with her he’s soft, gentle, caring. He’s an entitled brat but he’s also apparently a gentleman? Who won’t take advantage of a situation. That touches her. His genuine concern for the well being of his trouble maker sister. Saba, as we know, can relate lol. Faruq is a handful too. The way Veer fucks up massively but then has the courage to publicly apologize. He’s confronted her dad twice , once to apologize and once to fight her case to stay in school. A girls gotta melt at that. Him not resting until he has her apology. Despite failing many times lol. His self insight that comes slow but does come eventually lol. His determination to do better despite his self destructive tendencies. He’s a work in progress for sure, but there’s a lot of lovable things about him. His loyalty and protectiveness another one. The list goes on… which is probably why he has that ugly temper. Coz otherwise Veer is basically a privileged arrogant teddy bear tbh lol.

Nadia and Guzman had so many great moments in season 2 ugh. The first time she dresses up at the club and he can’t keep his eyes off of her. Their first kiss. Their first time ahem ahem… that locker room scene? Lol if that happens in Class I would just die ❤️👌 But one of my favorite moments is also which comes later when Guzman tries to help out Nadia and gets employed with his dad to pitch in the workload so Nadia can study lol. Imagine Veer working for Saba’s dad so saba gets more time to study lol. Wouldn’t that be a treat to watch ! Haha. Also jealous Guzman was *chef’s kiss* so I bet Veer can do it even better if given the chance. That would be so so fun to watch.

i am so so so longing to dive into the sequel to what you make! there are a lot of follow-up fics before we get there, and i am really excited to write them! obvs i have now alluded to ellie multiple times, and the reason she is really really important + why i didn't want the calendiles family to stop with art is because, in this timeline especially, them having another baby is going to be a really complicated event and bring up a lot of feelings for both of them. and i wanna spend some more time with jenny, and introduce everyone to danica and felix in the same way that we were introduced to alice and thomas in what you make! there's a lot of stuff going on with jenny's mom -- it would be a story about mothers and daughters and mothers of daughters specifically.

also of course i wanna finish north star. that will happen.

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

OH WOW SO MUCH STUFF. um there are so many interconnected little links in what you make that i put so much work into crafting? nora/donovan and alice/thomas are both very complicated reflections of giles and jenny. donovan especially is set up as a foil to giles -- someone who is very emotionally open and very comfortable playing a caretaker role and providing support to his kids -- and the fact that he is so nurturing and honest means that nora, who is very prickly, has always felt so safe around him! and of course alice is a foil to jenny and the reason that alice and thomas eventually went in the direction that they did stems from all of the wordless emotional labor that alice did in her relationship, even as that led to her death. this idea that silently shouldering the burden and the blame is actually a huge fucking problem and you gotta learn where to draw the line.

also, of course, flowers are sooo important to what you make! things that grow! things that have history! things that are beautiful and lively and complicated! giles and jenny literally meet for the first time in eight years in a rose garden which i talk about all the time, but also donovan calls nora "sunflower" and alice's ghost talks to giles through flower language in the penultimate chapter. i have plans to weave flowers into follow-up fics as well! most of it is because i love flowers, tbh, so it's really special to sorta add this little blossom of color to a btvs fic that is about my personal attachment to color and joy and growth.

plus, alice and nora as reflections of jenny! nora as jenny at her most confident and unfiltered -- as someone who feels no obligation to be Nice and Soft while still being unquestionably loving and maternal! alice as jenny at her most anxious and ashamed -- as someone who feels like she is worth nothing, and as such is perhaps disproportionately grateful for the love she is given, to the point where she's willing to overlook her partner's flaws until they slap her in the face! what you make is really at its core a stealth love letter to jenny, which is particularly heart-melting, because it speaks to my thesis statement about giles: any story that dives deep into giles is going to be a stealth love letter to jenny. look at canon.

hiiii thanks for clicking read more :3 here is a 🥺(pien, since walenty's design does take light inspiration from jirai jei fashion) khiyophor

so!! unlike the au where walenty takes paris's place, they swap with delta this time. they're lowkey thriving compared to their own canon it's amazing... ANYWAYS one of the first things I did was discuss khiyophor (χ-04, the ∆ of beldam institute got replaced with a χ because I didn't wanna name walenty delta) and what powers they could have! I still think telekenisis would've been an okay-ish fit but I wanted to be original...

I didn't have a lot of good ideas, so at the end it came to choosing between aerokinesis (air manipulation) and portal making!! I really liked the vibe of aerokinesis and the possible visual of soldiers wearing gas masks because there won't be any oxygen on a planet, or a horrible tornado that completely destroys a civilization and leaves nature to retake its course. it's also reminiscent of delta basically nuking cities by squeezing them with telekenisis while still being its own thing :3

however I also liked the possibility of khiyophor stalking people through mini portals! lil peepholes... they're also weaker in terms of raw power so they'd need way more precision..... that's so walenty I love my control freak.......

also! whereas delta's powers have an electric aura and johanna's a floral one, khiyophor's are cold/icy :3 this also corresponds to the rest of their overuse symptoms!! but first I gotta explain other stuff LIKEEEEEE THEIR DESIGN! rah I love character design

look at their little outfit.... it's actually quite inaccurate to empire design conventions since alia's and mine aesthetics are so different but it's okay......

they're taller in this au than in their canon! not by a lot, but a little. also a bjd (ball jointed doll) like paris! originally this was for thematic reasons (already being porcelain doll-like, control symbolism, dehumanisation), but their visual similarity to paris (or more importantly, sabina) does actually play a role! I also changed them to be strawberry blonde rather than purple haired to really zero this in 😭 khiyophor is not related to paris, they're just the same species (actually I think paris is only like half doll while khiyophor is full) and both blondes (different blondes but still) and have black eyes

oh also small detail! I stole @/sir-fenris's hc of doll ppl constantly being tiptoed because of doll feet being built for heels. this is why khiyophor has platform heels instead of their usual platforms

look at it... also despite empire's jewelry typically being gold, khiyophor has silver because they're a walenty and walenty has silver jewelry. also it doesn't actually have a lock like the one in the back, it locks like delta's does, I just wanted to add something there 😔

okay I think that's it about design for now.... uh uh I was talking about psychic stuff. SOOO khiyophor has portals, but how are those used?

similarly to how delta can sense "touch" with his telekenisis, khiyophor's portals have their own senses! for sight and sound it's like watching something from a camera monitor but that monitor is its own eye, for touch smell and taste it's like doing it through a bag that dampens it sorta? so often during attacks they just have a portal at the sky as a vantage point and overview of the battle. alia compared it to the eye of sauron....

anyways how they're deployed issss actually among other soldiers! their portals close inwards and have sharp edges, so they stay at the ship, get coordinates called out to them, and snip off heads while the rest of battle is happening. yay? khiyophor can have multiple portals at once when uncollared!! so if they're not reaching their limit when the battle is over then they even teleport leftover body parts that fell to a storage bin

speaking of their limit!! the overuse symptoms have stages! gradual deterioration >:) I started a drawing with this but haven't gotten back to it bc I'm me

at first it's shivering because they're still feeling heavy winds and blood sprays and all the other sensory stuff! quickly goes into like. small twitching and muscle spasms, then the shaking is more violent (clack clack clack bc of doll joints!) and they start slouching at this point 😭 martino gives them a slap on the back of the head like you do with old computers to restart them... it works......

but yeah they are shaking twitching hardly even keeping their eyes open. also they do the thing where you tear up not as a crying thing because your body is trying to expel something dirty from your eyes or cleanse them or smt. they do that. also fall at the next stage, has to be caught so that they don't hit their head 😭😭😭 poor baby tbh

another thing!! you remember how I mentioned aura in reference to the air feeling electric around delta or floral around johanna?? khiyophor's is cold!!! the windows are frosting are frosting over. everyone is shivering. buttons and controls get locked in place. there is a guy who's entire job is to give everyone muttons. it's very cold 👍

in the worst cases there'd even be frost forming around khiyophor but if they've been pushed that far they're half delirious already so that's when the attack is called off!! khiyophor is bedridden for an average of 4-7 days. this is the estimate because it happens often and khiyophor has a weak immune system and some unspecified disability that would have killed them long ago if they haven't been heavily medicated since it surfaced at beldam (spikes and worsens from stress khiyophor just crushes occasionally)

also!! this is in direct contrast to canon!walenty's own insanely strong immune system. χ-04 is sickly frail victorian child core to balance that

🦀 you could pull Force from @askforceofnature perhaps for your redesign thingy? Unsure if he's got enough substance as is to work off of but if it helps, he is technically part Lucario

grave mistake telling me he has lucario genes. Me. Professional "I gotta add obvious traits because being subtle isnt in my nature" AnywaYS Obvious gave lucario mask, added some extra markings in the same color to not have it be awkward to have JUST the mask Added leafs behind head to mimic the "locks"? Are they locks?? What's the proper word... I don't know. THOSE EXTRA FLAPPY BITS BEHIND LUCARIOS EARS.

Also im sorry. If a character is sassy or flirty then uh. They either get a long fancy swoop of hair or something else. I enlarged the forehead leaf to symbolize that instead of doing legit hair Listen. I know leafeon has natural hair aside from the leaves, but i will never do that im about vegetation.

englarged the tail and gave it SOMEWHAT of lucarios tail kink. Made the wrist leaves into thorns to mimic lucario spikes changed the bandana to black because im allergic to using shades of brown on clothing i guess
