Comparing Apps.

Immediately, the first name that came to mind on reviewing this brief is AirBnB. AirBnB is essentially a large booking platform linking hosts with guests. It covers an array of locations, accommodations as well as events and experiences. Being that it relies heavily on reviews from both the guest and host AirBnB has become a trusted service. It varies in its featured from what the Hum app will provide but its incredibly effecting in accomplishing its tasks. So I looked towards to app for a bit of inspiration on how the design and interface assists in doing so.

The app is sleek and somewhat minimal focusing on the locations and images. It ensures that the users focus is on the content rather than the app. The app adheres to a concise colour scheme that grabs the users attentions and is recognizable but not confusing or disturbing the user. I hope to be able to demonstrate some of these in the Hum App.

In this case I think its also important to explore other apps perhaps that have already been created for a similar purpose.

This is the GoTrinBago App. It has many of the features the Hum App should have. It is a good means of seeing what is already done and then finding ways to improve it. From my perspective the app lacks visual appeal and does not grab the attention of the user. It does not seem cohesive and as though much thought was put into the user experience. However the information accessible is extensive but I can't say how relevant and functional that information may be.

I also downloaded the Hawaii Revealed app. The app focuses greatly on the imagery and makes the natural attractions of Hawaii the real star. The users of this app would most likely be more interested in the history, geology and natural wonders on Hawaii as opposed to events. The app is very informative and also transports user on a virtual tour.

From this app I notice the importance the difference high quality images make. They draw the user in also like a tourist attraction itself. Perhaps a good idea would be for me to go out and capture my own images for the Hum app.
