I sometimes think abt Ed’s submarine…bc he absolutely could’ve built it to be piloted by one person. He 100% could’ve. He built the thing. From the sonar system to the rest of it. It was all his work. He could’ve built it to be piloted by just one person and handle only one person, but he didn’t.

The fact that’s he didn’t will forever be my Roman Empire for Nygmobblepot (besides the library scene) bc he 100% planned to leave with Oswald. He wanted to take Oswald with him.

AND!! He came back to the GCPD to fight for Gotham for Oswald. Bc truly, he didn’t care for the city. He didn’t care abt the people in it. He didn’t care abt the GCPD anymore. The underground. The Narrows. He didn’t care and was willing to throw everything away, but he wasn’t going to leave Oswald behind.

He never planned on it.

When Oswald said that his blood was in the concrete this city was built? When he said that he saw Gotham as himself? When Ed came through saying “I like this city the way it is”?

Ed loves Oswald the way he is and Oswald loves Ed for who he is. It’s everything to me…

The reason Bruce lives so close to the surface is because of his sons; none of them (except Jason) can live in deep waters, so Bruce is forced to live near the surface. This is not good for his health, but he ain't telling and no one is asking.

He was raised by Alfred, a navy soldier who dedicated his life to operating submarines on solo missions. Alfred would always visit Bruce when he was little, but once he grew old enough and Alfred retired, Bruce would be the one doing the visiting. After retaiment fron the navy, Alfred became some kind of mermaid biologist, but really lives from his retaiment money and doesn't publish his works.

Near the shore, where Alfred lives, during one of Bruce visits, is when the Graysons are killed, and Bruce adopts Dick.

When Dick begins his migratory travels (his species being migratory, and there's no fight with Bruce about it), Bruce meets Jason, who was orphaned because his mother died from a chemical spill near Gotham, and his father was killed by the coast guard for sinking ships for human mafias. Tim joins after Jason is (incorrectly) assumed dead by poachers. His mother died during labor, and his father is never present in his life, only visiting occasionally to bring food. Tim is both scared and admires Bruce, who is called "The Bat" by humans because, since Jason's death, he has been sinking all kinds of ships that get close to Gotham's shore. Damian joins after being kicked out of the al Ghul family because he didn't inherit any of Bruce's genes and wasn't of the same species. Instead, he ends up as a barracuda like the rest of his family, just a darker color.

Bruce is somewhat of a local legend/hero in the city of Gotham because he would save boats from poachers and pirates, as well as sinking contraband ships. But during his time sinking ships after the "death" of Jason is when Superman and the Justice League hear about him and think there is a monster in Gotham waters... but in the end, he falls in love.

The only one who can actually talk with the family is Aquaman, so they have a good friendship.

But he didn’t have to worry about these inconveniences, all thanks to Edward ;) Didn’t want to drive? No problem, Edward was a much safer driver anyway. Hungry? Edward knew all the nutritious recipes. Forgot his coat? Edward would lend him his it’s not like Edward got cold easily. Ankle hurting? Edward would carry him. Needs a submarine to escape Gotham? Edward’s on it! Anything for the people’s princess—wait, what? He meant for the King of Gotham. Of course.....

Y'know the fanon idea that Damian completely worships Batman (the mantle) and almost always respects Bruce to his own detriment has never made sense to me. Same with the popular notion that Damian's only goal, in his early years in Gotham, is to replace Bruce as Batman. From the beginning of his comic introduction, I thought it was clear that Damian had little respect for Bruce and Batman (not just Robin/Tim). Literally his first words to Bruce are "Father, I imagined you taller" with a sword to his throat. It was Damian's need for fatherly recognition and the explanatory environment of the League that made him act on killing the Spook - setting off the chain of events with Tim and eventually the story arc ending with the submarine explosion.

Like, yes, later on when Damian officially becomes Robin and more writers get their hands on him, he does start to believe in Batman and actually build a relationship with Bruce. (and then later on we get the company mandated "make Damian evil" comics that started to turn him the other way). Idk just thoughts being shared here. Obviously, the woobification of Tim has a hand in these ideas being so widespread, because some parts of fanon act like Damian spawned into existence purely with the goal of replacing Tim or Bruce. Like he barged into the cave and immediately said "I, a 10 year old, am going to dedicate all hours of my life into bullying a teenager! My goal in life is to physically and psychologically torment this one guy!" (And realistically, guys, I don't think Damian cares that much about Tim, and vice versa).

Also, I guess just super misguided/misinformed attempts to giving Talia and/or Ras reasons for training Damian that way they do (in fanon) and narratively giving a reason for why Damian is so aggressive when he first appears. Everyone forgets the true goals Ras has in running the League, and tbh, I don't think his dynamic with Bruce has ever been portrayed correctly in fanon. Like I've read some fics that portray the "Damian must be Batman" concept as something Ras ingrained into him - and while I don't think Ras wouldn't praise Bruce around Damian, they are still ideologically opposed. Same goes for the fanon monstrosity that is Talia - she would have a positive view on Bruce, even more so, but if people were being accurate to her character, she wouldn't be forcing Damian into the role of Batman when she knows what the mantle means and how it can warp a person. But they aren't accurate to her character, so its usually a "you must replace your father...because its what the right kind of son does" kind of justification.

Either way, I've always been more interested in Damian's arc as someone who thinks Batman/"crime-fighting" is stupid and then gradually and slowly starts to understand why Bruce does what he does even if he never fully agrees/can articulate exactly why killing is wrong (yet)....versus someone who has always wanted to be Batman and just gradually learns how to do that the "right" way (ie no killing, no in-fighting).

Percy lay on the deck of the ship, eyes closed and at complete and utter peace. The boat was heading towards their destination at a comfortable four knots, sails catching the south-east wind through the end of the sirens bay. Around him the ropes did what they needed. Tighter on the starboard side, undid at the bough, pulled back towards the stem. How the hell did he know these things?!

Was this just innate knowledge for children of Poseidon? Just naturally good sailors with perfect bearings? Like, the general concept of him just knowing things adults took years to train and learn. Sailors in the navy spending their whole lives on those giant war boats and submarines, figuring out how to count knots and guide by constellation in case power goes out, but Percy can just flick his wrist and the main sails falls and catches the wind. Fucking nuts.

He wondered if Jason could do this, too. If what ever powers he inherited from Poseidon also included being a sailor, or was that a Percy exclusive?

“You look cozy.” Percy opened his eyes. Annabeth sat herself next to him on the deck, one of the old sheets in the Captain’s quarters wrapped around her shoulders to keep the cold ocean air away. He didn’t mind it though. It was nice, but that could be because he was in his father’s domain.

“I think I could take the best nights’ sleep right here,” He answered, “What about you? How you holding up after the siren thing?”

“Better.” She traced the lines of the wood. “You know, when you tried to pull me out, I saw some of your family in the vision.” Percy sat up, intrigued now, because he didn’t. He couldn’t see anything besides Annabeth’s family and the perfect New York she built. “Your brothers, your dad, your butler.” She laughed but Percy couldn’t deny it.

“Why don’t you talk about your family? Or, at least, tell me about your family?” She asked. “I mean, I tell you about my dad and stepmom all the time, but I hardly know yours. And that’s even because they’re famous.”

He thought about it for a moment. He knows he can trust Annabeth, he wouldn’t be on this boat with her in he didn’t, but telling people about his family felt private. It was exposing a part of him that he tried to keep separate.

Percy Jackson was one kid. He was the son of Poseidon, first in over a century, forbidden child of the prophecy, youngest master swordsman in camp. When he wore that neon orange shirt, he wasn’t afraid to curse or fight back, he dug into that street rat life he once had and wasn’t scared of the consequences for throwing the first punch. He was the kid who broke camp rules for leaving without permission, he talked back to Mr D and Chiron.

Percy Jackson was a demigod, through and through, and that’s who Annabeth knew. That’s whose on this quest with her.

She doesn’t know Percy Todd anymore than what he’s told her because Percy Todd wasn’t a demigod. He watched Gray Ghost in the screening room with a bucket of popcorn with peanut M&Ms mixed in. He stayed up analyzing DNA samples and blood tests for serial killer cases and could recite the chemical compound for Ivy’s cuddle pollen by heart. He knew how to reset bones and how to stitch, suture, and extract bullets from an open wound. Percy Todd-Wayne was the son of the Bat, brother of Robin and Nightwing, young prince of Gotham.

But, he knows Annabeth. He knows her better than anyone in the camp. Maybe, maybe he can be Percy Todd with her, too. Let her know more than just what Vicki writes in the Gazette or what the tabloids print. He’d be able to IM her from his room without worry that she tell people what she saw. He’d be able to invite her over during the school years to hang out, Percy knows that her and Tim would be great friends. Gods. The debates they would have, it’d be intense, but so entertaining to watch.

young justice he hates this. why is chest out? he's buttoning this shirt up first. these sideburns need to be styled first, because they're so PLAIN. admittedly, it is nice to be able to see without glasses. maybe he looks a little bit less... beat-up-able without them? although who is he kidding, there wasn't just one thing that made him such a target, he was just a walking dartboard. the one thing he will say though is that he's had a bit of a boost in the confidence of his manhood because he's definitely... bigger in his own body. capullo omg what the actual fuck is this guy doing with his sideburns? some people can't be trusted with something as precious as immaculate facial hair. he could get used to the glasses though. they might make him look a bit less threatening. or they might help him pick up hot nerds at the library. undercover. one of them. maybe put this slightly more ample tool he's got between his legs to start off with. although he suspects he might have to do his preying during the day because that gang of roving teenagers over there look like they've locked on to him...

Arkham ↔️ Gotham

arkham it's irritating to be this lanky. he thought it might help, to be nimble and spry, but it's more of an irritation than he had imagined. no worry, it just makes him appreciate the muscle he's managed to develop. he won't get used to this tidy hair though. but, contrary to what he always thought, it isn't too bad working with someone. and this tiny little madman with the leg brace is far better than the oswald he knows and hates. he could really get used to having this little psycho around. gotham oh good GOD this is a horrendous outfit. who can walk around like this? the peace and quiet is nice though. and this workshop is far more suitable for the likes of... oh... say... building a getaway submarine! the echo is noticeable though. what he wouldn't give for a... friend. nothing else though! just someone to tell his riddlers to and prepare a lecture for or to... celebrate important achievements with. anyway! whoever owns this place is going to come back to find everything tidy and reorganised!

twojar ok this might cramp his style a bit, but he's ready for the challenge. besides, it's all in the personality. anyone can charm and have people swooning over them if they have the right attitude. it's not all about a rock solid chest and a chiseled chin. a week might not be long enough for him to learn how to work it. and in terms of working, this place... there's no joker. or at least if there is, the fucker is locked up. he'd enjoy staying here for a while actually in that case. the king of gotham finally. by... default... dano this body is entirely distracting from his real goal. instead of being able to go about in an unassuming manner and sneak around to get the job done, he's noticed everywhere. and while on the outside he might look like he gets that kind of attention regularly, on the inside he's still terrified. he'll have to put all of his hands on hold for a week now because even under the mask, this jawline is going to be noticeable. and the amount of people who now recognise him by his stature is ridiculous!

telltale so this body might not have the swift maneuverability and deftness he's used to BUT it is much younger than his own, so he can get around much easier. he doesn't need the cane anymore, so he can put his mind to different weapons. this body, for example, seems to have great difficulty maintaining a balance, very clumsy. what a wonderful opportunity to flex his brilliant mind and design some new and psychotically dangerous weapons for the fool to keep once they've swapped back. unburied ok so... old. very old. but that's actually something he's found useful. if you're a dick but you're young then people seem to hate you. if you're a dick and you're old, then people think you're a cute, grumpy, old man. and that has now come in handy a lot already. not to mention, where he was failing before due to how irritating he is, potential partners seem to be willing to overlook it for the "daddy" effect he has on them. if he wasn't so bothered by the fact that he feels the need to go to bed at 8pm, he'd stay like this.

This is a gift for @arcanemoody as part of the Nygmobblepot Haven Discord server's Secret Friends Holiday Gift Exchange. Here was the prompt I received: "I'm a sucker for Ed and Oswald as friends awkwardly on the cusp of romance, particularly if it's post-season 5, where the emotional stakes are higher because of everything they went through before. Alternatively, I'm also a sucker for them being Morticia and Gomez Addams and basically making out everywhere in public, regardless of who has to share space with them."

I sort of combined those two elements, though it's set during rather than after season 5. (And I haven't watched any Addams Family, though I'm familiar enough that I get the idea...)

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles

Koonak 

A youngster who lived in the frozen tundra of the Arctic, Koonak was orphaned in an unspecified tragedy before being taken in by Mister Freeze.  Freeze had fled to the Arctic with the body of his wife Nora still kept in frozen stasis.  There he met Koonak and took him in.  

The two lived a peaceful life together for a short time until the breaching of a submarine caused the cryogenic chamber maintaining Nora’s stasis to rupture.  Desperate to save Nora, Mr. Freeze and Koonak traveled to Gotham City so to recruit Dr. Gregory Belson.  Belson believed he could cure Nora, but only through transplant surgery.  Nora possessed a rare blood type and finding a suitable organ donor would be difficult.  As it turned out, Barbra Gordon possessed this same blood type and Freeze abducted her for the operation regardless of the fact that it would kill Barbara.  

Koonak tended to Barbara prior to the surgery.  The youth was unaware that Belson and Freeze were planning on murdering her.  When this frightening realization finally dawned on Koonak, he tried to save Barbara and succeeded in distracting Freeze long enough for Barbara to facilitate her own escape.    

After the villains were defeated by Batman and Robin, Koonak was brought back to safety were Bruce Wayne arranged for the lad to be cared for.  Believing Freeze to have perished, Koonak expressed great sadness over the loss of his surrogate father yet remained certain that he had done the right thing in trying to save Barbara.

Actor Rahi Azizi provided the voice for Koonak, with the intrepid youngster appearing in the animated feature, Batman and Mister Freeze: Sub Zero.

How exactly was Jon Kent’s introduction handled? Did Clark essentially just bring him out like “hey guys, here’s my 10 year old son I haven’t told you about” ?

If you mean canonically in the comics….like with many, MANY things. It’s complicated but I’ll give it my best

See in 2015, during the height of the New 52 era, was the event comic Convergence. In this one, Brainiac, who basically is revealed as techno organic eldritch abomination in a dimension known as the Vanishing Point, has kept various versions of Gotham and Metropolis from all through the DC multiverse’s histories in bottles right before the Flashpoint reboot altered everything.

One of these cities was the Pre-Flashpoint/Post-Crisis Metropolis containing their Clark and a pregnant Lois Lane. In their tie in issue, after an encounter with the flashpoint Superman and Batman aka Thomas Wayne, Lois successfully gives birth to Jon.

At the end of the event itself, Pre Flashpoint Clark, Pre Flashpoint Barry Allen, Parallax!Hal Jordan and Pre Crisis Kara meet up with the main leads of the event (The survivors of Post Flashpoint Earth 2) to encounter Brainiac who as gratitude for rescuing him from the villains of said event, decides to return every city back to their proper place. However, the Original Crisis was a point even he found too strong to overwrite so those four heroes plus Lois and baby Jon are sent across time and space to take down the Anti Monitor prematurely and shortly afterwards, incorporated into the New 52 DCU

In particular, for Lois, Clark and Jon, they landed on the day the New 52 Justice League, with their own Superman in tow, was first formed. They got themselves temporary new identities as the Whites and for the in universe ten years lived a low profile yet relatively quiet life

It wasn’t until Jon was about 9 1/2 after a run in with Intergang that not only did he discover his own superpowers but also that indeed Clark was a second yet strangely older Superman. These were two things that surprisingly neither Lois and Clark were anticipating to kick in so quickly

A few months later, the New 52 Superman seemingly perished during a final battle against a rouge government experiment in trying to replicate his powers though not before him and the rest of the Trinity meet with Pre Flashpoint Clark and Lois. It’s after this and Lex Luthor making a claim as the next Superman that Clark decides to switch out his secret black and silver suit, shave his beard and don the red and blue once more. After a team to between the two to take down a resurgent Doomsday, Clark gets to work earning the people of New 52 Earth trust as a new Superman

Things come a head though when Jon starts developing heat vision as the Kents move to a small town community not too far from Metropolis called Hamilton County. It’s here Clark makes a choice to train Jon with those powers, by first a small mission to rescue a trapped submarine being attacked by a mind controlled giant squid monster. As Clark finds the device used to control said monster, he has Jon fire his red eye beams to destroy it but Jon is very reluctant to do so, afraid to hurt his Dad. But Clark is reassuring all the way through and Jon fires, first a big Kamehameha style beam before a Clark is able to instruct him to shrink it down to a small laser which surely does the trick

It’s here where Jon reveals he had purchased his trademark S logo sweatshirt.

After this and a massive battle between the two and a resurgent Eradicator which not only had them cause damage to Batman’s Moon Cave but also was shown to most of the world the presence of a younger Kryptonian, finally Clark decides to properly introduce Jon S. Kent to his Justice League allies as a brand new Superboy

For a final note, the Kents then have a run in with long time reality warping antagonist Mr Mxyzptlk which sees a brief return of the New 52 versions of Lois and Clark, revealing that indeed, the entity responsible for the New 52 in the first place actually had split Lois and Clark’s souls of sorts into two halves, the Pre Flashpoint side having the experience and love for each other yet not their history on the mainline DCU as their Post Flashpoint versions of themselves. Thanks to Jon’s presence, the two halves of the Kents merged with each other, becoming whole once more and now they no longer have to take on new identities as the Whites, they are the Kents. Plain and simple
