Explaining to my friends shaking and crying swearing my oc is goth but in the "she's a teenager who listens to darkwave/etherealwave and is a part of the culture but goes to a school with a strict appearance policy so her sense of identity and ability to express herself is muted" way and that's why I rarely draw her in typical goth attire and not because i confuse genres-

Me "Im goth/emo"
n/a "lol no your not, your dressed normally" *NEXT DAY- dresses more goth/emo* Me "Is that better"
n/a "your such a poser"
Goth/Emo and many other aesthetics are music based sub cultures, and when people call us posers or that we arent cuz we dont dress like it 24/7 it starts getting annoying with how many times we get asked this. Or its jst me idk lol

I think about death a lot, yet not quite in the way common in my culture. Gothic rhetoric pontificates on the beauty of decay and rebirth, yet ah! I become so fixated on the science of it. A living being and a dead being are identical, yet one continues functioning but the other cannot. Why cannot blood reoxegenate, fatal wounds heal, and poisons cycle out? Why must an interruption of fuctions spell doom, an unmolested corpse not wake up from its slumber? Some creatures bend these rules by following a different biology, and we call them ghost-types. The dead becoming such pokémon is unconfirmed, or very rare, so what are they?

Damn imagine being surprised the character described as “distinctly goth looking” is being drawn as a goth. Revolutionary.

“Emberlynn is NOT a goth!! We don’t claim her!! She’s an egirl!!”
First of all, what’s wrong with egirls?
Second, you do realize there’s a sub style of goth called Pastel Goth, right? There are so many substyles of gothic fashion. Gothic fashion doesn’t only include all black stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the person who designed Emberlynn confirmed that she is indeed supposed to be Pastel Goth.
Tumblr media
Plus goth is for the most part a music based subculture it’s not all about the fashion. If you personally don’t consider her goth cuz she likes anime, kawaii stuff, and smut then that also makes no sense.
I have never come across a goth or alternative person in general online that isn’t into anime, fanfiction, or smut. I’ve seen mostly positive things about Emberlynn but I’m also not liking this other new hate wave towards her.
“But she’s cringe”
THATS THE POINT. She supposed to represent all of those “cringy” fangirls who are obsessed with anime, fanfiction, smut, and their fictional crushes who also got bullied and made fun of for their interests. Even then it’s just a lighthearted jab at the fandom it’s not like Emberlynn was created out of malice.
A lot of thought and care went into her design and she was created BY people who are exactly like her which is why a lot of us see ourselves within Emberlynn and why a lot of ppl in the fandom love her. Because a lot of us are kinda like her in a way. And Viv and the ppl who work on the hellaverse team know this, because a lot of ppl on the hellaverse team, Viv included are also most likely like Emberlynn. SHE IS FOR US.
She’s for all the fangirls and or fans in general who’ve been bullied and made fun of and told that what we do and or love is cringey and wrong. She’s not for the ppl who for some reason haven’t grown out of cringe culture yet. She’s not for you.
No one is saying you HAVE TO like her or anything, but I frankly find it pretty weird at the amount of ppl I’ve seen who are genuinely upset about her existence along with saying incredibly mean and vile things towards her.
You guys will post saying that we need more quirky female characters who’re unashamed to be cringe and free and then you turn around post about how you much you hate Emberlynn’s personality or her character as a whole along with boasting about how wanna throw a brick at her face..
What is it with “cringey” fangirl characters and or quirky female characters in general that makes you guys get so angry and violent?? Yall clearly can’t handle characters like her at all despite claiming how much you want to see more characters like that in media. Grow up..
Anyways, Emberlynn Pinkle is such an amazing character. I love how relatable she is to a lot of us. Her human and sinner designs are so cute!! The color palettes for them are the definition of eye candy. We love a pastel goth queen.🩷🩵🖤

Hello!I am Chinese, so these words are all translated by translators.I beg your pardon.TUT .I'd like to ask, will Jak be interested in some niche culture lovers?Like Gothic, Dark punk...I'd like to know what Jak thinks of such people. It's important to me.(♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ༶ )Thank you for creating such a charming character.I like Jak too much!Thank you!!!
Tumblr media
Dress him up people!!! Jak's whole thing is loving the main character.
He chooses you in LT because the niche sub-cultures you follow, how you dress, act, who you are. It's what he enjoys about you. If someone dressed goth, or even preppy and wanted to see him follow suit- he would.
Jak dresses plainly for efficiency over style. If mc actively offered him fashion advice or suggested clothing that they'd prefer, jak would jump on that with vigor. He wants to make mc happy.

Another avenue I want to explore in an Amity Park is Weird scenario is all the niche sub-cultures going on.
There is absolutely NO WAY there isn't a thriving goth community in Amity Park. They're holding picnics every full moon. They're holding crafting sessions in their friends' basements. They're adopting ghost animals left and right: eight-legged dogs and blob-cats, skeletal fish and neon bearded dragons.
There's a young man called Raphael who performs live music every week at a dance club with his band: he's got a myriad of shiny piercings, and a phone camera roll full of his rabbits, Morningstar and Salem. Perhaps those ghosts are bad business like the Fentons say, but the club's never felt more alive.
The scene and emo kids are multiplying at a rapid rate. The punks and grunge folks are doing shit with textiles that makes every quilting grandmother in a five mile radius swoop in to pass on their skills. Josie and Betty, old friends who periodically upload photos online of their handmade lace, suddenly gain an influx of young folks who want to learn how to make their own ghoulish patterns.
There's a new group peeling off from the goths that dress like the embodiment of Halloween– all bones, pumpkin orange and lengths of costume jewelry.
The historical costuming community is alive and well in these times, and they fall upon the few ghosts from times past willing to share knowledge like starving wolves. Their minds are full of patterning-math and fabric prices, and their excitement is, quite literally, infectious.
A revolution starts up in food service: a great many restaurants closed or moved to follow the many people who left Amity after the ghosts first came. A pair of brothers open a restaurant that has the best Polish food around: people politely don't comment on how the owners are dressed in clothes a century out of date or how their eyes gleam. Two cat cafes open, one space themed and another with loose definitions of what counts as a "cat." Assorted coffee and tea shops dot the landscape: some serve donuts, some have cupcakes, and others have breakfast wraps, sandwiches or savory hand pies.
People that can't afford to open a restaurant sell food out of their homes, advertised by cardboard signs with phrases like CAKES FOR $10, and BARBEQUE RIBS FOR SALE painted on them in gigantic bright letters. High school students bring in bags of cookies they made the night before and completely sell out of stock before the day is done. One woman's house has no signage and yet is known by word of mouth to be a herbalist, selling tins of homemade tea blends, flowers, assorted plant clippings, and cough drops.
Someone down the street of Casper High sells small batches of eco-friendly soap at a nearby corner store.
During summer time, lemonade stands are everywhere. Some of the lemonade is made with the strange fruits from one of the parks: no one dies, so it's fine.
The Farmer's Market has gotten... intense.

Breaking my hiatus to put together a goth inspired lookbook because the official Sims kit - WOOF. The goth culture has so many varied and cool sub-cultures, so I chose some of my favourites to showcase today.
Cybergoth is the probably the most unique aesthetic when it comes to goth sub-cultures; marrying goth, raver and cyberpunk fashion into a wholly unique style. It's typified by the pairing of stark black with highly contrasting neons and brights. Both hairstyles and make up are highly intricate.
Hair | Hair Colour Overlay | Brows (TSR) | Eye Makeup | Earrings | Mask (TSR) | Choker (TSR) | Top (Fitness Stuff) | Arm Warmers | Nails (Base Game) | Pants | Boots
Gothic Pinup or Gothabilly style combines the curve hugging fashion of the 1950s with the dark aesthetic of goth culture. It subverts the typical cheesecake pinup by adding cool tattoos, creepy motifs and moody makeup.
Hair | Brows (TSR) | Sunglasses | Lipstick | Choker | Dress | Nails (Spa Day) | Stockings (TSR) | Shoes (TSR)
Nu Goth is one of the most accessible forms of goth fashion. It is a lot more sleek and modern, with less decorative elements and more understated details. It incorporates everyday clothing pieces, albeit in a darker colour palette than "normal" fashion.
Hair | Brows | Lashes (TSR) | Eyeshadow (TSR) | Earrings | Septum & Lip Piercings | Lipstick | Top | Jacket Mesh | Jacket Recolour | Nails | Rings (TSR) | Skirt | Ripped Tights | Striped Tights (TSR) | Boots
Romantic Goth is a lot more fantastical than other goth sub-cultures. It draws inspiration from the Victorian era - with corsets, bustled skirts and laced boots predominately featured. Both clothing pieces and hairstyles are long and flowing.
Hair | Brows | Lashes | Eyeshadow (TSR) | Nose Piercings | Lipstick | Choker | Dress | Nails (TSR) | Boots
Pastel Goth is very similar in its divergence as Cybergoth, however this sub-culture swaps out the neon brights for girly pastels. Besides its unique colour palette, it is characterised by heavy decoration and cute-but-creepy details.
Hair | Eyeliner | Eyeshadow (TSR) | Lipstick | Top | Bodysuit | Nails | Rings | Hand Tattoos (TSR) | Skirt | Belt | Body Tattoos | Stockings | Boots
Trad Goth (AKA Traditional Goth) is the genesis of goth fashion, originating in the 1980s alongside the beginnings of goth music. It is a lot less prescriptive in its style, although it does feature a lot of leather, studs, graphic makeup and big hair.
Hair | Sideburns | Eyeshadow (TSR) | Blush (TSR) | Lipstick | Earrings (Get Famous) | Necklace | Dress | Belt | Nails | Ring One (TSR) | Ring Two (TSR) | Ring Three (TSR) | Boots (Get Together)
