the deen higurashi animes are not that bad people just watched them when they were 11, heard people say they were bad, then read the vns much later and went "well its not exactly 1:1 so it really is bad"
you really have to appreciate the work chiaki kon did to make the original higurashi anime coherent in 26 episodes. sure its not perfect, but compared to most vn adaptations, are you kidding? deen higurashi is perfectly watchable. it's no clannad but i consider it a successful vn anime adaptation that stands in a field of failed vn anime adaptations. it is great as long as you stop after finishing kai and do not touch anything that came after it
also this is only tangentially related but since i see people sometimes lying that ryukishi may not approve of this, or especially of the umineko anime. not true! the umineko anime is a different matter because the production of that anime was a mess, the story was releasing AS THE ANIME WAS AIRING, and ep4 was horribly adapted by virtue of it literally COMING OUT LITERALLY AS THE ANIME WAS AIRING. ngl though, as much of a mess it was, it was one of the first anime i genuinely followed from the first episode to the last as it was airing. and what an anime it was. absolute trainwreck, everyone was happy that EP3 was actually adapted pretty well after how goofy EP1 was and okay but derpy EP2 got sometimes, then came EP4 and uh. haha.
but i digress... my point with this^ is that a lot of people have delusions of grandeur of original authors hating an anime adaptation just to justify their own hatred of it. i see it all the time, especially with old adaptations of shounen manga superseded by either remakes or sequels (rare, but i'm thinking of bleach here). people have this long standing urban myth that togashi HATES hunter x hunter 99, but the only recorded opinion we've ever gotten of it is that his assistants would watch it while he worked away on the manga itself, so he didn't have an opinion on it. a lack of an opinion does not signify an opinion. if anything, there are more clues pointing to togashi being involved in the anime in at least some capacity— namely the bonus stage arc, which has foreshadowing for things that hadn't even happened in the manga yet at the time, and was allegedly based on scrapped drafts that togashi had.
really, lately "mangaka is involved with every step of the adaptation" has become synonymous with quality, but manga artists are manga artists. not all of them know what decision is right for the animated medium. i have yet to see an anime turn out especially good because the studio kept the mangaka in the room making whatever level of decision they can claim happened. (to be honest, i kind of doubt it anyway, but i don't care.) it's dumb, but i miss the era when adaptations were actually about adapting to a new medium and having *shudders* oh noooo spooooky filler to help the story flow better, or hell just diving deeper into certain scenes and expanding on them, rather than having a big jack off contest about who can draw the closest to the manga without any deviation so a bunch of salivating geeks on twitter would tweet at any public figure involved in the anime with either praise or insults both 100% lacking in any critical merit
at least.... can we stop animating at 300 gigasharts per second to appeal to twitter shounen meatheads so we can get anime longer than 13 episodes again. im fucking sick

Inukag Week, day 3: Bickering
My ideal papayasha is, apparently, sort of a combo of Bandit Heeler from Bluey, and Beleth and Asmodeus from Hell's Belles. Especially in modern au’s where he'd have access to real therapy.

What Makes Us Tick
Inuyasha sighed softly as he approached the school, bracing himself for whatever awaited him beyond the front desk. Frankly, he was just relieved that he didn't have any meetings that day - just a stack of paperwork he could easily afford to put off for a few hours while he figured out what was going on with his kid.
He hadn't been too thrilled to hear that Moroha had gotten into a fight with a friend. It wasn't the first time she had argued with a classmate, but physical violence was new. At the very least, he could be glad that he had gotten the call instead of Kagome. For as wonderful and understanding as his wife could be, she struggled to comprehend how disagreements could come to this point the way he did; he'd been there.
When he spotted her sitting in the office through the window, he was puzzled to see her looking so upset. Red-faced and teary-eyed, looking more the victim than the assailant. He didn't see Miki, the girl Moroha had fought with, but he had been told the other girl had received a bloody nose as recompense for whatever she said that set Moroha off, so odds were good she was in the nurse's office.
Pushing the glass door open, he made eye contact with the secretary. She smiled, but he could see the exhaustion in her eyes.
“Thanks for coming, Mr Higurashi,” she sighed in lieu of a standard greeting. He saw Moroha twitch when he was addressed, fresh tears welling in her eyes.
“No problem. Any clue what happened?”
“Well, the girls had some sort of disagreement before class, and things boiled over during recess, but neither one would say what the fight was about,” she hummed standing to open the door for him so he could join them in the office. “Moroha has been inconsolable all day..”
Before he even had time to ask about a meeting with the teacher or principal, one of the chairs clattered, and he found his six-year-old suddenly latched around his legs, blubbering into his thigh.
“Papa, please don't break up with mama!”
The wail caught both Inuyasha and the secretary off guard. Chuckling awkwardly, he shook his head, carefully unwinding her arms from him and taking a knee in front of her.
“Momo, what on earth are you talking about?” he asked softly, wiping her tears with gentle fingers. She threw herself into him again, burying her face in his neck and continuing to plead with him but not explaining further.
With a soft sigh, he wrapped her into a tight hug, scooping her up and turning to the secretary.
“Seems like we need to have a conversation. You mind if I just take her home for the day? If the principal wants to have a meeting, we'll all come back after school hours, and we can start fresh tomorrow.”
“That sounds like a good plan. Thank you, mister Higurashi.”
“Anytime,” he assured with a nod, leaning his catch his daughter's eye. “Not anytime-anytime. Don't go getting any clever ideas on me.”
Moroha gave a hiccup of a giggle, then sniffled, tucking closer to hide beneath the curtain of his hair. He signed her out of the office without any further fuss, keeping her tucked close and rubbing her back as they left the school.
He walked in silence for a few blocks, giving Moroha a chance to gather herself. It broke his heart to see her so hurt, and terrified him that her state had to do with her perception of his relationship with Kagome.
“Alright, pup, you feelin’ a little calmer?” He asked, waiting until he got a tentative nod in response. “Glad to hear it. So, you wanna tell me what got you so upset with Miki?”
He felt her breath hitch at his words, but after another moment, she sat up a little, still not meeting his gaze.
“M-Miki saw you n’mama fightin’ this morning, a-and she- she said that, when mamas and papas fight, it means they're gonna break up, cuz they don't l-love each other anymore,” she sniffled, clearly trying so hard to stay calm and keep her voice even. “An’ I told her, that was stupid, cause you love mama so much, an-and mama loves you - then she said I was stupid, cuz people who love each other don't fight, and- I just got so mad…”
“So that's why you thought..” Inuyasha sighed, reminding himself that the person on the other end of this fight was his daughter's age and was not an appropriate target for the anger he felt at Moroha's devastation, and he could not call a child stupid while they weren't around to prove it, even if it would make his own kid feel better.
He tilted his head up towards the sky, humming understandingly. He thought back to the beginning of their relationship - remembered blow-up fights, unkind words said in anger that they didn't mean, even when they said them. Arguments that some might say should have been their undoing. Compared to the way they used to go at it, their disagreement this morning hadn't even been a fight. Just little snipes about some stupid thing or other; bickering banter.
Chuckling with a bit more humor, he maneuvered Moroha up so she could ride his shoulders the way she usually preferred, his hands keeping hold of her feet and ankles.
“Okay. Here's the deal, pup; Miki might've been right if she was talking about someone else. But if mama and I were gonna break up over a fight, it would have happened a long time ago.”
“Are you s-sure?” she asked, still sniffing occasionally but seeming truly calm now.
“Very sure,” he insisted, tilting his head back to look at her. “Momo, your mama and I have been fighting since the day we met. We've known each other for sixteen years, and we've been doing relationship together for almost fifteen of ‘em. I'll spare you the math problem, but simply put, we've had lots of time to have lots of fights.”
He looked back at the path ahead of them and felt her cross her arms on top of his head.
“For some people, yeah, Miki has a point. Sometimes couples say awful, cruel things to each other, hurt each other, and decide they can't be together anymore. Some couples fall out of love that way.”
Moroha whimpered overhead, and he squeezed her little ankles.
“The trick is,” he continued, “Mama and I have spent years gettin’ good at arguing, so we know how to fight without hurting each other.”
“How's that?” The child asked, clenching her fists in her father's hair and making him wince.
“Well… you like wrestling with me, yeah?”
“... Yeah,” she affirmed, and Inuyasha could hear the shy smile in her voice
“Right! I like it, too. Because you and me, we're tough. And we like to roughhouse and play-fight, cuz it's fun for us. But if when we wrestle, if I started doing things that actually hurt you, you probably wouldn't have as much fun, would you?”
“Well… no…”
“Yeah. And same goes for me, because it's fair and normal to not wanna be in situations that hurt you. It's like that; Same rules apply for your mama an’ me. When we fight, we're just… wrestling with our words instead of our bodies. And it took practice, y'know - we used to fight just for the sake of hurting each other when we first met. But that wasn't fun for either of us, especially when we became friends. We didn't wanna hurt each other anymore, so we had to talk about it and stop using those things against each other in arguments.”
When they reached the house, Inuyasha took her down off his shoulders so they could go through the door without receiving head trauma. Once inside, he set her on a barstool by the island counter. Her eyes looked significantly less red than they had when he'd first picked her up. Leaning on the counter beside her, he ruffled her hair, smiling into big brown eyes that reminded him so much of her mother.
“Me an’ Mama’re very opinionated people - it means we feel strongly about all kinds of stuff. So we fought over who was right a lot. We still do. But we're always respectful of each other when we disagree, and we don't keep track of who's right more.” He paused, considering his own words. “Well- unless there's something at stake, like who has to do a chore or run an errand. But then, we're really just trying to work together to find a solution that suits us both, and makes sure neither of us are getting stuck doing more chores more often without making it fair.”
He slipped her hair tie out as he spoke, running his fingers gently through her hair to straighten out the tangles and catch the flyaways before putting it back up. Moroha hummed, even smiling when his long nails gently scritched at her scalp the same way Kagome did when he did it to her.
“Stuff other people hear as arguing is just us play-fighting, like when you and I wrestle. Do you… understand what I mean?”
“I think so… Wrestling is fun, so that makes sense,” she murmured, crossing her arms on the counter. “So… you guys aren't breaking up?”
“Absolutely not,” he assured, rubbing her back again. “You were right, Moroha, mama and I love each other so, so much. You might be surprised how much time I spend thinking of ways to make sure she knows how much I love her, because she's so good at making me feel loved, and I want to make her feel just as good. The only way we're ever gonna stop being together, is if us not being together is in some way better for you. Do you think you'd be better off if we broke up?”
“No!”
“Neither do we,” he agreed with a smile. “We are gonna have to have a talk about hitting people, because that's really not okay, and we can't just hit every person who says things that upset us, no matter how easy and fun it might be. But I'm glad we got the Love and Arguing thing cleared up. Y'know, if we didn't fight like we do, you might not even be here."
“What?”
“Okay! How about you go get changed out of your uniform, and I'll scoop us some ice cream?"
“Ice cream!” Moroha jumped down from her stool, bolting down the corridor and up the stairs to her bedroom. Breathing a sigh of relief, he turned to the fridge, pulling out the promised ice cream. Oh, he really hoped she wouldn't bring that up later, after he let his guard down. His daughter did not, at any age, need to know about the disagreement that led to her conception.
“Nicely done.”
He'd never admit to having jumped a little, but he did turn around and flash a grin.
“Thanks,” he said, offering his free arm to the woman leaned against the doorway to their office, fond adoration lining her eyes and curving her smile. She stepped forward, hands sliding around his middle as she leaned up to kiss him. He held her close and kissed back happily, pulling away just enough to see her eyes. “What're you doing home?”
“Called the school back on my way there, and they told me you signed her out a few minutes before, so I just figured I'd meet you here,” she hummed, running her fingers through his long hair. “That all sounded really heavy, but it seemed like you handled it really well. But I’m definitely missing context, so why don't you fill me in while I get out the sundae stuff?”
They fell into an easy rhythm while Inuyasha recounted the past half-hour or so and they set about dressing up glass bowls for their ice cream and putting out various toppings. Kagome was, as he'd predicted, very not thrilled that Moroha had gone and hit someone. But given the fight that had led to that, she was a little more willing to call it mostly even. She commented that they should probably call Miki's parents to discuss things - she and Moroha were usually quite close, and they'd gotten close to her parents as a necessity, so hopefully they could get both girls to apologize and that relationship could be healed.
Moroha came back in her favorite red romper and threw herself into her mother's arms, accepting her scolding for resorting to physical violence before sitting down to a bowl of ice cream that she ate happily.
“While I'm thinking of it,” Kagome hummed, setting her bowl in the sink, “I have something for you.”
“Yeah?” Inuyasha asked, dumping his last scoop into Moroha's bowl while her back was turned.
“Yeah. S'in the bedroom,” she nodded, taking his hand to lead him there. Glancing over his shoulder, he grinned at his daughter before disappearing down the hall.
“You mentioned how our fighting is the reason Moroha's around,” she reminded him, bringing a blush to his face.
“It slipped out, yeah. Think I recovered pretty well, though.”
“You did,” she agreed, letting his hand go when they reached their room and going to her bedside table. “And… you remember that big fight we got into at that watch party Sango and Miroku had two months ago?"
“... Heh, yeah, I remember that,” he chuckled. “Remember that after party we had when we got home, too.”
“Good. Means I don't have to explain how this happened,” she grinned, turning around and offering him a small box, somewhat long and thin, like a bracelet box. White, with a silver bow. His eyes went wide as he took it from her hands, looking up at her as if to ask if this was really happening. She gestured for him to open it, but her beaming smile was all the confirmation he needed. Still, the sight of the two little pink lines brought tears to his eyes.
“Oh my God, Kagome.”
He set the box down and scooped her up around the waist, swinging her around until she laughed in his arms. He looked up at her, haloed in warm afternoon sunlight from the window, and he thought to himself (as he often did) that he had never loved her more than he did right then.
“I love you,” he hummed, hitching her legs on his hips to support her weight. “Thank you so much, Kagome, I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” she smiled, tearing up a little as she wrapped her arm around his neck, her other hand cupping his face. “You and our children mean the world and more to me. And I cannot wait to fight with you for the rest of my life.”
“Rest of my life. You're not getting away from me first, you're stuck with me, wench.”
“Bold of you to assume I'll let you die at all, then!"
“If I'm not allowed to die, you don't get to either!”
Kagome giggled, leaning down to kiss him. He kissed back, setting her on her feet so he could run his fingers through her hair.
“Shall we say, as long as we both shall live?” She suggested, dark eyes sparkling.
“Every version, every lifetime, Kagome.”

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 6 Tsumihoroboshi pt. 16
Rena, having made her daring escape from the school with none of her friends or Chie any the wiser, doesn’t catch that they’re talking about her escape. Keiichi is vaguely aware that she’s probably fallen under the spell of another cockamamie story, or maybe the one she was already certain was true before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s an interesting juxtaposition of how she hates the fact that Takano left her these scrapbooks, but she also views them as an absolute necessity in her struggle to stay alive. Rena then starts thinking about how exactly this unknown conspiracy is going to use the curse as a method to seize control of Japan. Settling upon the idea that the conspirators are going to use the curse and Rika as the embodiment of a miraculous wonder cure for the curse Rena spirals deeper into paranoia. Since Rika is being used as a figure head clearly that means she can’t trust her nor Satoko in her fight. That goes double for Mion, since she’s the leader of the Sonozaki family, and is therefore the leader of the muscle for the conspirators. She reflects back on Takano’s research, and comes to the conclusion that since the conspiracy killed her this means that their understanding of the parasite has clearly advanced to such a point that it is capable of taking over the entirety of the land all the way to Shishibone City. Or worse than that, the entire prefecture! And if it’s possible that it can cover the prefecture, this means that it’s more than likely able to cover other prefectures too! Clearly this is why they killed Takano, and are now plotting to kill Rena, because they’ve worked out all the kinks in their mad revolutionary plan to seize control.
How much sleep do you think Rena’s got over the past… since she got caught chopping up the bodies of Rina and Teppei? She latched on really tightly to this conspiracy angle that she just read about less than two days ago. Now I know that this can all be explained away with information we learn in Minagoroshi, but you know that her mind isn’t exactly at the best place it could be given the events of the last week or so. She committed a double homicide, she was caught trying to dispose of the evidence, she was given these scrapbooks filled with absolute bullshit, she recently began remembering previous trauma she’d mentally blocked away. Then on top of that, Ooishi mentions to her that Takano and Tomitake were found brutally slain shortly after she was given the scrapbooks of garbage. Around the time the rest of the gaming club helped her dispose of the bodies she did explicitly mention she was feeling exhaustion. So I can’t help but wonder if her excessively strong paranoia here might be the result of all of these various stressors just finally catching up to her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so, thus armed with $17,558 (adjusting for inflation) Rena goes to her secret hideout in the garbage dump. She reasons this is a perfectly good hiding spot, even if she’s ignoring the fact that both Rika and Mion know about this location. Rena, feeling the restlessness that comes with having to wait until nightfall to contact Ooishi leaves her hideout.
Which then cuts to Rena’s father talking with a local police officer because it looks like someone broke into his house and stole 800,000 yen out of his lock box. During said discussion with the officer Keiichi calls asking if Rena went home? Rena’s dad informs him he hasn’t seen his daughter since she left that morning and hangs up on him, the missing 800,000 yen and break-in being a slightly larger issue than his daughter’s friend wanting to chat over the phone.
Rena, meanwhile is off to go look at where they dumped the bodies of Rina and Teppei.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wuh oh! Just like the bodies in Watanagashi the bodies of Rina and Teppei went out for a stroll! Also, I love how the text for Rena’s narration is now this just blood red, it’s a very nice touch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the things that I like about this chapter, and it continues a little bit into Minagoroshi as well, is this notion that even though we have Mion’s word for it that the Sonozaki family isn’t as nefarious as they seem, but actually are still highly suspicious. I don’t doubt that the Sonozaki group at large just decides to take credit for some of the more illegal deeds that happen around Okinomiya/Hinamizawa. But there’s things like this, where if the Sonozakis were indeed on the up and up why are they willing to help dispose of these corpses with no one raising a fuss? It just acts at odds with the claim that they’re not actually a crime syndicate, and maybe there is something to their criminal reputation outside of their actions during the dam conflict.
Rena then rationalizes that the Sonozaki family must actually fear what she knows. After all, they moved the bodies, why do that if not to use against her in the future if she proves unruly? Emboldened by this new information Rena leaves the site where the bodies used to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like it took tremendous restraint on either Ryukishi07 or the translators parts to not include some variation of “I know that she knows that I know that she knows that I know that she knows.” It just seems like the sort of line that would be included in some way you know? Although I guess you don’t really see that used in a serious context very often. Cause as we all know this series has never indulged in a silly line like that at all during the course of it all. Still I appreciate how even in the ever worsening depths of her paranoia Rena still is aware enough to think that hey wait, what if Ooishi is in on it? However I do like the version of these events where even though she’s dead certain most everyone’s out to get her Rena is still willing to try to get some help on her side. It’s an interesting change from Keiichi and Shion’s dives into paranoia and eventual murder where they just kept it to themselves.

Have you guys ever read/watch Higurashi or Umineko no naku koro ni? Not a lot of cute boys to ship, (especially in Higurashi) but I get the impression that the dark themes in both of them may be things you find enjoyable lol They are both of my favorite mangas I've read besides SnK
We haven’t yet, but we really want to! My knowledge of both of these titles is pretty vague outside of some of the most well-known things, but I am pretty sure we will enjoy it a lot. Thank you for recommending it to us!
I don’t know when we’ll have the opportunity to dive into it, but whenever we do, I’ll absolutely have some sketches to show. I can already feel it…

Wait I think I know which webtoon anon is talking about
The Guy Upstairs by Hanza
I don't like Hanza bc she's an anti but she kinda got stuck with the short end of the stick with the whole situation
The shippers for the main pairing started harassing Hanza and that's why she decided to end the webtoon early
(related to our replies from yesterday)
Oh, I see.
Regardless of an author’s views, it is always unfortunate when they have to finish their story abruptly because of the pressure of the readers. One would think that they would appreciate it enough not to bully the author, but unfortunately, a lot of times people are very demanding and emotional.

So, I saw a post and I wonder if you've seen it or thoughts of it but a eric/crewel/trein threesome (i think his name was Eric but its vil's dad)
No thoughts so far. We keep getting asked about Eric and Trein (and Crewel I guess), but I don’t even know how or why they would interact. We haven’t watched the event yet, so maybe I just don’t know some crucial piece of information, but… Eric seems like too big of a celebrity to stumble upon these two all of a sudden? And Trein doesn’t sleep around as well, he is a very tough one to crack…
Not completely impossible, I just don’t feel it for now. Maybe I’ll have an epiphany at some point in the future!
Anonymous asked:
NEED to know more about your leech parents!!! do they sleep in the same fish bed? did they even want kids, was it just for traditional family points? she doesnt cook, do the rest of them keep it a secret too? hgrgrhrhrhhhhhh FISHFISHFISHFISHFISHFISHFISHFIFSHFISH
im willing to vote they have a cuck chair (? ...merfolk dont sit tho..)
lol Anon!! I am very happy that you got intrigued by these two; I really like thinking about them too to be honest lol so I guess I better share my thoughts before we get more canon lore about them (god forbid, I wouldn’t want that at all! *reverse psychology*)
Alright, so to answer your questions…
To be honest, I don’t think they sleep in the same bed, mostly because both of them are too damn long and take up too much space to share a bed lol They used to sleep together when they just got married, but quickly decided that it’s just too bothersome.
Moray eels aren’t super social and don’t have the “mate for life” mentality, so their family façade is kind of fake. It also makes them dangerous, because one moray eel is already trouble, but two? Who also have a family? This is one of the things that make them so dangerous. So yeah, I wouldn’t say that Papa and Mama Leech love each other romantically, but they have mutually beneficial relationship, and to them this is probably even better than love. They are also probably aren’t intimate with each other anymore… they are with other people though, when they feel like it~
So yeah, to answer your question about a cuck chair lol Sure, why not, but I feel like with these two it’d be more like one of them is obliterating some poor merman while the other watches it just for the sake of enjoying the show. And some additional intimidation/humiliation 😔
When it comes to family, both of them really wanted kids, but not due to any wholesome reasons: Papa Leech wanted to keep his business going strong even after he’s gone, and he would rather choke on a puffer fish than entrust it to anyone other than his own copies lol And Mama Leech really enjoys the drama of being a mother and a wife. She is a bit of a narcissist, and both of them are kind of sociopathic?? But they love their kids in their own ways.
The fact that Mama Leech doesn’t cook is the biggest secret in the world lol The tweels usually play along, especially Jade, but Floyd is more likely to just roll his eyes whenever she is talking to someone about cooking dinner for her sons. I would say that they have a cook, but actually I feel like the majority of things that they eat are raw…
Anonymous asked:
I wonder if you see the time we ask these at... hmmm
Moving aside NOT A REQUEST DONT GET IT CONFUSED BTW
Female!Jade, in Bayonetta 1 or 2's outfit...
We do~ We don’t check it though, so if you’re worried for some reason, don’t be lol
You’re making this woman way too powerful, please have mercy… she is already tall and scary…

My Dad will be 64 this autumn. My Dad is a die-hard Republican. My Dad was a Southern Baptist pastor for nearly 30 years. And my Dad is a The Great Ace Attorney fan.
He’s always had visual novels he enjoyed (I grew up on Higurashi.. it was kind of Our Thing), but he’s mostly a passive fan. The kind who is willing to wait patiently until the next game of something releases and suddenly remembers, two hours prior, that today’s the day.
So when my Dad called me a couple weeks ago, voice a little tremulous, begging me to send him a torrent whereby he could torrent The Great Ace Attorney 2 and bypass the Capcom Xbox gamepass library, I happily sent him the best one I’d found. He didn’t want to wait, he wanted to play it NOW, and I could respect him for that. It was a pleasant surprise, him loving the games so much he had to play it NOW.
Today, I finally got the chance to ask him about it.
I was bouncing on my toes, excited to be fangirling about my fave game with my own father. “What did you think, Dad?”
I didn’t expect him to get a little choked up. His next words blew my mind.
He said, “Sweetie, I’m old. Set in my ways. I was taught, and adhered to, a certain way that people should be with each other. I preached it, and I voted in light of it, and I taught it to you and your sister. But I watched this show. And I watched these two men fall in love with each other. And the only thing I could think was, ‘These two souls are meant to be together’. Ryunosuke Naruhodo and Kazuma Asogi are… soulmates. Over my years as a pastor, I’ve seen couples get married.. And couples get divorced.. It happens. But I’ve never seen two people who were more perfectly designed to fit together, and it broke my heart to see it not happen for them. I’m sorry I’ve been such an ass.”
Given that it was a brave moment, I blurted out, “Dad, I’m bisexual.”
And he turned to me and smiled, tears in his eyes, and said, “Just… be happy.”
Don’t fret that the press “has yet to discover” the “subtext” inherent in TGAA. Don’t fret that the creators and the voice actors still deny it. Because if my Dad can see it, then it’s crystal clear. My almost-64-yr-old-Dad ships Asoryuu. My SOUTHERN BAPTIST PASTOR Dad ships Asoryuu.
To the point that he internalized change in his thinking about same-sex relationships, and happily accepted my (rather abrupt) coming out.
Keep the faith.
This ship has sailed; and my Dad, of ALL people, is right on fucking board.

ok i decided
to post now. before i begin let me make a HUGE reference to my inspo fic: The Importance of Being Kept Chapter 1: Kagome, an inuyasha fanfic by LianaLyn on fanfiction dot net. I read this story at the very beginning of the pandemic and loved it. Please check it out
blurb: at the end of high school, Inuyasha gives Kagome a special gift. how will their new lives at college impact their lifelong friendship?
ok here goes ~~~
“What’s on your mind, Kagome?” Sango asked. Kagome sat at the beautiful mahogany table next to her mother and best friend, Sango. She graduated high school a few hours ago and was currently surrounded by friends and family to celebrate.
“She’s probably thinking about how soon she can move out!” Sota cried from one end of the table. He sat next to grandpa who was trying to get Inuyasha to give Sota hints on how to be successful in secondary school. Sota wasn’t paying too much attention, trying to enjoy the fact that school was out for summer break.
“Shut it, Sota! I’m thinking about how interesting it will be to move to another stage of life. I don’t have to go to high school anymore!”
“Yeah, well college is a whole different ball game,” Sango added. She was already done with her first year as an engineering student. “You have to manage your own schedule and be responsible with keeping up with everything and make sure you eat too!” Everyone laughed while Kagome blushed. She was known for her big appetite for oden. How was she supposed to manage everything and find the time to make oden?
“Don’t worry, Kagome. Sango, Inuyasha, and I will all be here to make sure you eat, even if it’s not oden,” Miroku said. “Besides, we’re all relatively decent in the kitchen.” Now Sango and Kagome laughed.
“I think you’re being generous, Miroku. You know Sango burned her ramen just last week,” Inuyasha added. “Besides, why’re ya lumping me into this? Don’t I get a say?”
“Because we know you’ll help out anyway. Remember that time I got sick last semester? Mom wasn’t home and you brought me homemade soup!” Kagome beamed. Her oldest friend could pretend all he wanted that he’d leave her out to hang but when it really came down to it, he’d be there for her in an instant.
“Keh, my mom made it and told me to bring it to you. It was her idea, not mine! Anyways, I'm finished, I’m gonna start the dishes.” As Inuyasha retreated to the kitchen, Sango thought about her friends. What wouldn’t Inuyasha do for her? she wondered. It didn’t matter now. Kagome was going to university and their whole friendship would see a brand new world. They would meet new people and learn about the harsh reality of balancing work and play. Sango couldn’t wait for Kagome to join her.
---
Kagome’s friends and family finished their wonderful meal at the Higurashi household dining table, a place they frequented many times over the years. The warm summer breeze danced on their skin as they talked and laughed and told stories of their childhood memories. The first time Kagome learned Inuyasha was a hanyou. The time Inuyasha learned that even if Miroku wasn’t a demon, he still had interesting abilities. All the times they protected one another without fail. The way they all became friends and how they made it their task to stay close after graduating high school.
Growing up, Inuyasha never thought he’d have a group of friends so loyal and dear to him. He didn’t say it much, but their acceptance of him blew his mind everyday. After all, it wasn’t easy being mixed. Half youkai, half human, and neither side of his family thought he was good at being either of them. Although his parents gave him the best opportunity to go to school with both humans and youkai, he had always been a bit nervous around his classmates. It wasn’t until Kagome joined his class that he got his first real friend.
Kagome was laughing at something Miroku said when she caught his eye. You okay? She thought, nodding her head at him. He looked across the table to find Miroku continuing whatever story it was that made the girls laugh. “Goshinboku tree,” Inuyasha intoned then stood up curtly and left, his red canvas button down flowing in the breeze. When no one seemed to notice, Kagome followed him, the end of her skirt taking off behind her.
“Hey.” Inuyasha glanced at her on his peripheral. He knew she was approaching, could smell her sweet, jasmine and lavender scent in the wind. Sure being a hanyou made him more alert of his surroundings but he always felt just slightly more sensitive to Kagome. For a long time he just chalked it up to her being his oldest and best friend but now he wasn’t so sure.
“Hey, yourself,” Inuyasha grunted, looking her over thoughtfully. “How’s it feel? You’re all grown up and stuff now.”
Kagome laughed and sat beside him. “We’re the same age, Inuyasha. When we get to college we’ll be on our own, so we’ll have to look out for each other. Anyways, Mama will always be here at home for me.”
“Keh, as if! I look out for you more than half the time because you’re so damn clumsy! What would you even do without me?”
Kagome looked at him thoughtfully for a moment. “I don’t know Inuyasha. we won’ve been there for me for so long, I don’t even know what it could be like to not be around you.” Inuyasha felt his cheeks start to heat. He had meant to stay lighthearted. “But I have to be independent now because you’t be in the same classes or even the same building most of the time. So I’m gonna do my best not to bother you as much, ‘kay?”
Inuyasha looked at her. What did she mean she wasn’t gonna bother him? Who else would look after the klutz? “Forget it! I’ll still look after you in college, you know. What, are you trying to get rid of me or something?”
“No! But I want you to be able to make your own friends and decisions without having to worry about me. We’re not in the same major and at some point we won’t be living as closely as we are now.”
“Yeah, well that’s not today!” Inuyasha was surprised she seemed this detached from him. Weren’t you supposed to lean in to your friends and family during big changes?
After a few moments of silence, Inuyasha pulled out a small velvet case and shoved it at her. “Here,” he mumbled. Kagome looked at him in surprise. “It’s your graduation present.”
Kagome opened the box and gasped. Inside she found a silver banded bracelet, inset with what looked to be real rubies and emeralds. The edges were lined with small diamonds. “Inuyasha…” Kagome didn’t know what to say. Why would he give her something so precious and expensive? “Thank you,” she said finally. “This is very lovely. What made you think of it?”
Inuyasha stared at the ground, his face flushing slightly. “I had the band for a long time and my parents gave it to me to give to someone who was special to me.” Damn, he hated this. How much could he explain without actually telling her what it meant? “So I chose you because you’re my best friend and I didn’t want it just sittin’ around anymore. What am I supposed to do with a stupid bracelet, anyway?”
Kagome looked at him, peering into the amber of his eyes. “Your parents gave it to you? Does it mean something to them?” Kagome was familiar with a lot of the everyday culture of youkai but she was still unfamiliar with the way they expressed themselves. When she first met Inuyasha, she had a difficult time getting him to express his emotions in a way she understood. He didn’t seem to have the words to tell her yet.
“Ehh...who knows, I don’t have time to learn every stupid thing about being a youkai.” Kagome could tell he was deflecting somehow but shrugged it off. He was usually very thoughtful about his mixed human and youkai ancestry and wanted to learn how he could better integrate the two parts of his life to become one. It wasn’t an easy task, but Kagome was proud that he was learning to accept and embrace who he was.
After a few silent moments, Kagome asked “are these real?” trying to determine just how expensive this gift was.
“Yeah, but don’t worry about it. I got a good price on the stones.” He seemed pleased about that. Inuyasha looked over and saw Kagome worrying her lip, no doubt over the price. “I’m serious, Kagome. I want you to keep the bracelet. You can wear it under your sleeve if you think it’s too flashy but I’m not takin’ it back.”
“Well, if you insist,” Kagome answered before slipping the beautiful bracelet onto her wrist. It fit perfectly and wasn’t too oversized. He was right. If she kept it under her sleeve she could wear it anywhere. “Perfect fit!”
He grinned.
---
After Kagome’s graduation party, Inuyasha experienced a continuous wave of calmness, a tranquility his yoki never felt before. It felt like he was releasing a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. He sat in the top branches of the Goshinboku tree to revel in this new feeling before quietly taking off towards his own home.
When he arrived he was surprised by the presence of his older half brother who didn’t really frequent the Inu no Taisho’s house too often. Sesshomaru Taisho saw himself as his own man and insisted upon living independently of both of his parents. While he had no problems with his mom or his father’s second wife, Sesshomaru found himself diverging from the personalities of both of his parents and wanted to find his own way by living alone. His parents offered to financially support his “independence”, but as much as they were willing to provide, Sesshomaru insisted on fending for himself. How could he make a name for himself independent of his father if he didn’t branch out?
Regardless, none of this explained why Sesshomaru was at his father’s house now, some random night at the end of spring. Sesshomaru was going to Waseda University and had lived off campus in his own apartment for the last two years.
Sesshomaru stood at the kitchen counter, drinking tea and reading the newspaper like he belonged there. He seemed comfortable in any environment. Inuyasha knew that wasn’t a trait he’d inherited. “What are you doing here?”
Sesshomaru looked up. “Came to talk to you.” That surprised Inuyasha.
“Keh, like we have anything to talk about. I haven’t seen you in like 5 months, and ya never reach out.” Inuyasha scowled. Their relationship seemed to be only on Sesshomaru’s terms. He didn’t like feeling manipulated by his brother with questionable motives.
“As a matter of fact, we do.” Sesshomaru replied, facing Inuyasha head on. “Father wanted me to talk to you about Kagome graduating. She’s your human, is she not?”
“She’s not my human, she’s my friend, and you know that!” He hated when Sesshomaru referred to Kagome that way. She wasn’t an object, she was a person. His best friend.
“Regardless, she has found herself with the sympathies of a youkai family and will more than likely need it as she begins this next stage of life.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I mean that she will likely start becoming a target of all matters of youkai from now on-”
“I don’t believe it! You’ve always had a problem with Kagome and you’ve always wanted me to be as weirded out by humans as you are! Well I’m not! I’m half-human myself, idiot, and if you think I’m gonna start treatin’ her any different then you’ve got another thing comin’!” Inuyasha left Sesshomaru in his wake as he stomped off to some other part of the house to avoid his brother. He couldn’t believe this shit. Sesshomaru never did make it easy for them to act like actual brothers, that’s for sure.
Once Inuyasha got up to his room, he considered opening his window to climb out onto his favourite branch of the tree next to the house, but hesitated. For the first time in several years, Inuyasha felt like he didn’t need to sit in the tree to calm down. Sure, Sesshomaru was being a grade-A dick, but suddenly Inuyasha felt more emotionally equipped to deal with his annoyance of a brother. Instead, he just laid down on his bed, looking up at the starry sky through his window. Fingering the beads at his neck, he thought about how things would be when he and Kagome joined Sango and Miroku at school in the fall.
---
“You know, your brother might have more patience for you if he learned that you don’t actually hate humans.” Sesshomaru turned to look at his father. On most days, Toga Takahashi was a resplendent and dignified presence to almost anyone who crossed his path. But in his home with his family, he tried to be as earnest and down-to-earth as possible.
Sesshomaru sighed. His father had always been more delicate with Inuyasha and humans. “You think he’ll start opening up to me because of one girl?”
Toga chuckled. “Not at first, but at least he won’t think you’re as critical of his best friend as you’ve always seemed.”
Sesshomaru let out a low growl. His father was right but it still took a lot of effort to deal with his prejudices. He was trying.
“Besides, if he can’t count on his own brother to support him with something as trivial as this, how can expect the world to treat him any differently?” Toga really did have a point. While it was easier to figure out his son’s bias on his own behalf, it was harder to see Inuyasha struggle with his brother’s stubbornness. They needed a push if they were going to have a better relationship.
“I’ll think about it,” Sesshomaru conceded under his breath. It looked like Rin wasn’t going to be a secret for much longer if his dad kept harping on him like this.
---
Kagome kept the bracelet hidden as best she could at the beginning of summer break. She didn’t want her mother, or anyone else for that matter, reading too much into it.
The girls worked nonstop for three hours before Sango suggested they take a break. Kagome was fortunate to get the help of her friend to pack up her room for school. Mama Higurashi insisted that Sango stay for lunch afterwards as thanks. As they finished boxing up Kagome’s accessories, Sango noticed the bracelet on Kagome’s bedside table.
“Woah, Kagome, this is beautiful!” she exclaimed. “Did your grandpa give this to you for your birthday?” Sango carefully picked up the silver band to admire the red and green gemstones that littered the sides of the bracelet.
Kagome blushed. “Actually… Inuyasha gave it to me… as a graduation present.” Kagome’s flush deepened as she said it. Up until now she had managed to keep the bracelet out of sight, unseen by her friends.
Sango’s jaw dropped and she stared at her friend. You’re saying Inuyasha Taisho gifted this to you with no strings attached?”
“Of course there were no strings attached!” Kagome hissed in embarrassment. “How could you even say that? We’ve always been best friends.”
“Hey, I never know what’s going on with the two of you. Inuyasha likes to be very discreet about his emotions, remember?”
“Tell me about it,” Kagome sighed. At least the bracelet was a kind gesture. What he couldn’t express in words, apparently he could express in gifts. Not that she needed anything more from him anyways. They had a friendship that was unbreakable for years, and she knew he loved her as much as one loved the person that could save them from their loneliness. She tried to reassure him that he didn’t owe her anything, but he made it clear that he was more than incredibly grateful to her.
“Come on, let’s go eat. Does your mother know about it? She’s always been rather intuitive when it comes to him.” Kagome blushed. In fact, she believed Mama was relatively unaware of the bracelet and its origin, although she couldn’t be sure. What would her mother say? It couldn’t possibly be anything more than a gift between gracious friends.
“Do I know about what, dear?” Mama Higurashi intercepted them at the bottom of the stairwell, catching an evasive look on Kagome’s face. “Inuyasha’s bracelet?” Her daughter’s eyes widened.
“Mama! You knew about it?”
Mama shrugged. “Well I asked Toga to be sure but I had my suspicions early on. It wasn’t hard to guess, Kagome.” Kagome’s jaw dropped. Wow, her mom really was intuitive when it came to Inuyasha. “I suspected he might give you something sooner or later, especially since you’re going off to school soon.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“You mean Inuyasha didn’t tell you?” Sango asked.
“Tell me what?! All he said was that his parents gave it to him to give to someone important to him and I guess his belief of being indebted to me went far enough for him to give this to me in gratitude.” Sango looked at her incredulously. Her friend really had no idea what she had ahead of her.
“Kagome dear, the friendly relationship you have with Inuyasha was quite uncommon not too long ago,” Mama started. “In fact, it has only been within the last 50 years that demons and humans and the like have been allowed to coexist in society together. Before that demons and humans had their own land with its own rules and customs. Fortunately, things have changed but some parts of the relationship between humans and demons require more improvement than others.”
“What do you mean, mama?”
“Well, there is still a large population of demons that see humans as expendable playthings useful for their entertainment. As a response other demons may take it upon themselves to ‘claim’, ‘keep’, or protect humans they consider vulnerable or deserving of their attention.”
“Although, sometimes demons that decide to ‘claim’ humans end up being just as stubborn and possessive as the ones that don’t care for humans as much,” Sango added, shaking her head. “I swear we’ve come so far but still have so far to go. Anyways, the ‘kept’ or protected are usually given a charm of some sort that let’s other demons know not to mess with them.”
“So that’s what this is?” Kagome stared at the bracelet in annoyance. “A charm to keep me from meeting other youkai and hanyou like him?”
“I don’t think that’s his intention dear,” Mama said. “You know Inuyasha is quite noble at heart even if he doesn’t always go about things the right way. Why don’t you give him a chance to explain. I can only imagine that he wants to help and protect you, nothing as aggressive as what we mentioned earlier. He’s not like that.”
Kagome thought about that for a moment. What would cause Inuyasha to feel like she needed more protection than she already got? She was just another teenager going off to college and had never faced any real troubles - not with demons at least.
“I hope he doesn’t really think I’m that helpless. I don’t want to be ‘kept’ by anyone!” Kagome mumbled as she finished eating. Sango looked at her in surprise.
“I’m sure he just wants you to know that he’ll be there for you. Going to college is a big transition and you guys will be more separated than before. Maybe this is his way of saying he’ll be there no matter what.” She could live with that.
---
“It’s this way,” Sango pointed in the direction of Kagome’s new residence hall. The decision not to be roommates for the sake of preserving their friendship was mutual. The warm August air welcomed new students and their parents as they moved on campus. Kagome felt lucky she had friends who already knew how everything worked. She was starting to realize that starting a new life was a bit overwhelming if you were by yourself. When they arrived at the residence hall, Sango boldly led the small brigade through the chaos and right to her friend’s new room.
This is it. Kagome opened her door hesitantly to find her roommate on the other side.
“Hi.”
“Hi! I’m Eri! You must be Kagome.” Eri put down the clothing she was folding to introduce herself to the group. “You all must be Kagome’s family.” She smiled.
“Sort of…” Kagome said bashfully. “This is my mom, and these are my friends, Sango and Inuyasha. Although I’d say they’re family at this point. It’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s good to meet you too! Hey,” she said, turning to Inuyasha. “Are you a hanyou? Can I touch your ears?” Before he could answer, Eri’s hands were already in his face, reaching up to grab his furry ears. He quickly batted her hands away and Kagome winced, dashing in front of him.
“He’s sensitive about his ears. And yes, he’s a hanyou.”
“Half inuyoukai if it means that much to ya,” Inuyasha grunted. It was barely their first day on campus and already someone had to go and do the wrong thing to a hanyou. “Dontcha think it’s kinda rude to just reach in someone’s face and grab their ears?”
Eri stumbled back a few steps. “I supposed it is,” she said matter-of-factly. “Forgive me.” With that she moved on to speak more with Sango and Mama Higurashi.
“Ugh, I can’t believe I’ll have to put up with her all year,” Inuyasha complained, setting the boxes he carried in down on what looked to be Kagome’s side of the room.
“Calm down, Inuyasha. It’s not like you’re living with her, you don’t have to see her.”
“Keh! I will if I see you! Face it, you and her are gonna get real close and do stupid stuff like upset a youkai. And then what? I’ll have to handle it.” Kagome froze. This seemed like exactly the type of thing mama and Sango told her about. The possessive nature of even the best youkai seemed to be getting a hold of Inuyasha. She was 18, she could take care of herself.
“Oh well, Inuyasha, I guess I’ll have to learn how to take care of myself sometime,” She tried not to be too indifferent but she couldn’t stand him acting like she was his problem all the time. Kagome put away her items mindlessly, trying to ignore him when Eri broke into her thoughts.
“Boyfriend?” she asked, nodding over at Inuyasha. He was talking with Sango and mama, helping them finish up with Kagome’s things.
“Nooo!” Kagome responded, her head shooting straight up. “He’s my oldest friend and he likes to worry.” The girls giggled.
“Well at least that means we can go look for boys together!” Kagome liked that idea and told Eri so. It seemed like her new roommate was pretty cool and could be a great way to meet other students on campus.
Across the room, Inuyasha’s ears perked up. So they were gonna look for boys, huh. He figured he could put up with that as long as she didn’t decide to hang out with obnoxious, annoying youkai that felt like they owned her.
“Are you okay?” Sango asked him, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“Yeah, why?”
“Well, you were growling to start.” She looked unimpressed.
“Well what’s it to ya? Seems I’m just tryna mind my business here and they’re over there talking about foolishness like meeting random people. Dontcha think that could be dangerous?” Mama glanced at him and laughed.
“Oh Inuyasha, that’s just a part of the college experience. She’ll be okay, don’t worry.”
Inuyasha grumbled and returned to putting the sheets on Kagome’s bed. This campus made him on edge. Maybe it was because he hadn’t really gotten the chance to get used to it yet but the calm he felt all summer long disappeared the moment they all got on campus. He didn’t know how Sango and Miroku dealt with it. There were so many people in such a small space. He felt like he would go crazy on his own. It seemed like Kagome knew it too because she insisted that he and Sango go ahead to their own dorms instead of worrying about setting up hers. Inuyasha was glad to get out and get some fresh air.
When he got to his room, he found that Miroku had already unpacked his half of the room and looked to be headed out.
“Where are you going?” As much as Inuyasha didn’t want to socialize, he couldn’t imagine his friend would just leave him on his first day.
“Ladies are calling, Inuyasha, and I intend to answer them.”
“What the hell does that even mean?”
“There are tons of freshman girls just downstairs that need help moving in or finding their way. I just plan to be a gentleman and help them,” Miroku answered, feigning innocence. “Plus, someone has to give them the lay of the land here.”
“Keh, you sound like bad television. Whatever, I’ll just see you at dinner.”
After Miroku left, Inuyasha unpacked his things and tried to familiarize himself with the dorm hall. It would be better to at least try to warm up to the place. He paced up and down his hall then took the stairs to the floors above and below and paced those too, allowing his nose to pick up as many scents as possible. If he could cut down the number of unfamiliar scents, maybe he wouldn’t feel as restless. Or maybe if Kagome was here. Inuyasha shook his head. Where did that come from? True, she had always been able to help him settle in any environment but he couldn’t just default to her. He had to learn how to survive on his own.
Inuyasha found himself wandering the halls. The floors above and below him housed people from all over Japan, humans, youkai, and hanyou of all types. It would definitely be interesting living amongst so many other types of youkai and hanyou so closely. It was his first time living so close to anyone besides his family. He wondered how long it would take him to find a nice, secluded spot for thinking like the tree outside his house. Waseda was a big place for thousands of students but he needed some time by himself. It wasn’t like he was super introverted but as sensitive as his senses were, sometimes he needed a place where they could settle down without being overstimulated.
Inuyasha was thinking about finding a way to the roof of the building to aid his search for isolation when he bumped into someone, another youkai by the smell of it. “Oops.”
“It’d be helpful if you were careful where you’re going,” a slightly irritated voice came from what looked to be a wolf youkai. He had about two inches on Inuyasha and wore a muscle shirt and track pants. His hair must’ve been long because it was pulled up into a lopsided bun at the back of his head. This guy seemed to put a lot of thought into his appearance. He seemed like the type of person that used his looks to intimidate people.
“My bad, geez,” Inuyasha replied. Damn, it was his first day and he was already on bad terms with someone. This would be a long four years.
“You’re good. Just watch it. Other youkai aren’t as forgiving with hanyou around here.” Oh, like it was some great compliment that a mere hanyou like Inuyasha wasn’t bothered by a youkai like him.
“Keh, give me a break.” He wanted to be done with the bullshit. “I don’t need some oh holier-than-thou youkai to try and tell me shit, I’m aware.” The youkai looked him up and down, seeming amused and slightly impressed by him. After a few moments of considering the hanyou’s presence, he introduced himself.
“I’m Koga, wolf youkai. You must be a dog hanyou if I’m not mistaken.” He rambled on. “Listen, you’re alright. I live two floors down with my boy Ginta. Room 412. Stop by if you ever need anything. Us canine youkai gotta stick together!” Koga had already started back down the hallway and was gone before Inuyasha could respond. Koga didn’t seem too bad, just really full of himself.
Like I’d ever want anything to do with him, Inuyasha thought and made his way back to his room.

Just beat Watanagashi
Tumblr media
Thoughts and Spoilers below
An enjoyable chapter. Definitely gives a different feel from chapter 1. While that was filled with a feeling of paranoid irrationality Watanagashi gives a slower feeling of despair at the end.
Liked the conflict in the beginning with the doll (I didn't even notice it when it happened and I like to think that I'm a bit more aware of that type of hidden insults than others) and how it showed Keichi's differing views on the sisters
Tumblr media
Why Keichi is a better protaginist than Shirou Emiya. In this essay I will– nah not really
Initially, I was really confused on what they were doing with Shion & Mion. Thematically I understood what they were going for but the Shion and Mion are the same person idea was introduced pretty awkwardly, It just sort of becomes an idea in the MC's head, for little reason.
The reveal of them actually being siblings was funny, however and didn't diminish the Mion's character journey in the way I thought it would.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene adds a lot of depth to Mion's struggle with her femininity than just leaving it at Mion is pretending to be Shion.
Higurashi has been repeatedly asking the question if the horrible events at Hinamizawa are the results of a supernatural god killing human beings or if it's because a group of people are earnestly maiming and killing their fellow man and what it would mean for a regular persons mind if the Rational side is true or if the Supernatural side is true
An interesting dilemma for the protagonist and the player. I, am personally a fan of the Tsukihime style mind trips so the ending was leaving me with a lot to desire. I enjoyed Keichi's resolution to apologize and the final phone conversation with 'Shion' but the ending with Mion suddenly turning into a demon and torturing Keichi was a bit much. There's so many this is whats going to happen>then this other thing is going to happen happening story beats it got boring.
It's >Mion seems to want to turn herself in>Mion might kill herself to get out of responsibility>Mion surprise stunguns Keichi>the baton passes on whether she's going to kill Shion or Keichi first>She's about to torture Keichi>Keichi says he wont resist the torture but asks the demon to forgive Shion and Leave Mion's body>Mion then let's Keichi go> weeks later Mion shows up at Keichis door and stabs him with a meat cleaver>Keichi survives> mfw
Again is it better for her to be a literal demon or some sort of split personality is an interesting question but this back and forth was just boring.
But then there's the hospital scene...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The episode could have ended at the report on the torture chamber or the second report on the home stabbing but I'm so glad it ended with this.
Suprise! and Intrigue! The throat inflammation drugs from the end of chapter 1 make a suprise return with Rika and still alive corpses roaming about. Was the Mion at Keichi and Shion's crime scenes psychotic hallucinations or the work of devils? And what was with the floor board creaking in the storehouse, that only Shion and Tomitake could hear? I'm excited to see what the answers may be in Higurashi Ch3 Tatarigoroshi!
Tumblr media
Blud has no idea wtf he's saying. Mion>Shion 100%

Winter 2021 Anime Worth Watching!
Since 2020 basically sacrificed itself to give us the most stacked anime season of all time, I’m currently buried under the weight of almost 20 shows airing per week. So for anyone who’s looking for some anime to watch this winter, here’s some first impressions! I’m speed running my list this time by only talking about the new shows...because otherwise this would be my great American novel.
If anyone’s interested, I have master lists for both 2020 anime and 2019 anime, because there’s no shortage of fun things to find.
New Shows!
And before anyone asks, So I’m A Spider, So What? isn’t on here, because CG spiders freak me out.
Cells At Work Code Black: This...less comedic spin off of Cells At Work (made by a different studio) takes the wholesome concept of Osmosis Jones meets cute anime girls and turns it on its head. In this much more depressing version, we follow a rookie red blood cell who works in the body of an overly stressed, alcoholic smoker who puts every strain on the body imaginable. I love Red Blood Cell AA2153 and his co-workers, but man am I glad we get the regular Cells At Work airing this season too, because I need something fun and uplifting after seeing my sweet son go through hell every episode.
Tumblr media
*Heaven’s Design Team: Have you ever wondered how God came up with some of the weird ass animals that live on this planet? Like, what’s the deal with giraffes? And why can’t we have dragons and flying horses? Well this is a comedy about the engineers and designers in heaven creating the new animals that are going to inhabit the Earth. That’s it, that’s the show. It’s kind of in the same vein as Cells At Work, having comedy blend with a surprising amount of educational information. If you want something light and funny, this is the show for you (though I don’t think it needs to have full length episodes). I’m just hoping there’s an episode about how the hell the platypus was created. Also it’s the only new one available on Crunchyroll.
Tumblr media
Horimiya: A romantic comedy about a girl named Hori who fits the image of a perfect queen bee and a quiet bespectacled boy named Miyamura who never makes an impression at school. When the two meet by chance outside of the classroom, we see that Hori is practically raising a younger brother by herself, and Miyamura is actually a sweet guy who happens to be covered in tattoos and piercings. This show is an exercise in breaking down the images people have of others in their minds, and it’s a concept that really hits home in a fun and meaningful way. Honestly, this has become one of my immediate favorites. The characters have great chemistry, and I can’t wait to see more of them!
Tumblr media
Monster Incidents (Kemono Jihen): When big shot Tokyo detective Inugami is called to a rural town to investigate a series of strange animal deaths, he finds a mysterious boy with the nickname Dorotabo who has been shunned by the other children in town. As the detective gets closer to Dorotabo, he discovers that there may be more...inhuman secrets to the boy than he realizes...and Dorotabo discovers that Inugami has some secrets of his own. This is a hard show to sell without spoiling the first episode, but it had twists and turns that kept me engaged from start to finish. I’m really interested to see where the plot goes, because I thought this was going to be something totally different just from the PV and series summary. If it plays its cards right, this could be a great paranormal detective show!
Tumblr media
Wonder Egg Priority: A psychological drama about a girl named Ai who starts having dreams about a mysterious egg that promises to give her what she wants most in the world...a true friend. Before long, she begins to see how the dream world and reality are tied together, and trippy antics ensue. It’s hard to say more without spoiling anything, but I had to go back and add this one in because I made the mistake of thinking it was an OVA when it’s actually a full series. And what a series it’s starting out to be. This anime has all the psychological discomfort of a Satoshi Kon product with the beauty and style of something from Kyoani (even though it’s made by Clover Works). It’s really one of those anime you just have to see to understand.
Tumblr media
Sk8-∞ (Skate the infinity): An original skateboarding anime from Bones, featuring a typical sports anime protagonist who takes a new transfer student who has never skateboarded in his life under his wing. Together they compete in dangerous races and take the skating community by storm. The character designs rival Appare Ranman’s in outlandish creativity, and I can smell the main characters’ ship dynamic a mile away (considering they’re exactly the same as the protagonists from Robihachi). If you’re looking for some wild and crazy fun with top notch skateboarding animation, don’t skip this!
Tumblr media
2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu (Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club): Yes, it’s another volleyball anime. And no, it’s not just a clone of Haikyu. This story follows Yuni Kuroba, a physically built but emotionally weak teenager who finds out his childhood friend Hajime is moving back to their hometown for high school. Yuni discovers Hajime has become an exceptional volleyball player and they join their school’s volleyball club hoping to turn the unknown team into a rising star. If anything, this anime is much more like Stars Align or Free, where the sport is a backdrop for letting the characters explore their personal problems. Or at least it seems that way after the first episode. I went into this show ready to throw it in the trash because how could anything compete against my beloved Haikyu, but I found myself really enjoying the dynamics of the main duo and I’m curious to see what the rest of the team is like.
Tumblr media
And speaking of sports anime rip-offs…..I can’t believe I’m including this but…
Skate Leading Stars: The show where the animators clearly wanted to design another throw away idol anime but saw how popular Yuri On Ice was so they decided to make whatever the hell this show is instead. It revolves around a fictional team sport called skate leading, and we follow the world’s most insufferable main character, a former figure skater named Kensei who wants to return to the ice and join his school’s skate leading team after he finds out his childhood rival is going to compete in the sport. Look, this show is just trashy enough to get a certain type of audience hooked, and it mainly has to do with the best boy of the winter season, Hayato Sasugai, the aspiring team “coach” who pulled most of us into watching this show with his punk appearance, snide comments and smug personality. He’s basically the lovechild of Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima in a high school sports anime setting. The show treats itself with the perfect amount of sincerity to get away with being absolutely ridiculous most of the time without making you feel like you’re watching it from a dumpster...like Try Knights. You will know after one episode whether this show is for you. All I can say is, Hayato is worth the watch, and I haven’t seen any 3D animation used for the skating scenes (yet) so that’s a win for me.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention:
Jobless Reincarnation ( Mushoku Tensei): Yet another isekai where the main character is hit by a car (big surprise) and gets reincarnated into a fantasy world...but he happens to remember his previous life and narrates himself growing up as a jaded adult. I’m only including this because it looked amazing animation wise, and I love the opening where getting hit by a car and dying is actually traumatic. And I love the protagonist’s parents (who are retired adventurers who just want to bang all the time). But honestly...the main character is the fucking worst, and I don’t know if I want to keep watching it because of how creepy and weird he is. Like...he’s the hit on your fantasy mom as a baby kind of creepy and weird. But for anyone who wants a cool looking isekai that had an amazing PV, it’s worth checking out.
Tumblr media
Continuing Series!
Because the real gold of the season is in all the established anime getting their next seasons, I’m just going to list some of the things that are also amazing and definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already (because I’ve already talked about most of them at some point and don’t know what else to say).
Attack On Titan season 4
The Promised Neverland season 2
Beastars season 2
Log Horizon season 3
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 2
Re: Zero season 2 (second cour)
Dr. Stone season 2
Cells at Work season 2
Osomatsu-san season 3 (second cour)
Higurashi New (second cour)
Jujutsu Kaisen (second cour)
Not to mention all the shows I don’t watch that everyone else loves...like World Trigger (which I have seen quite a bit of, but long shounen shows are too much for me now) Quintessential Quintuplets, and Non Non Biyori.
So there’s just some of all the anime airing this season. Hopefully, someone can find something they like. Here’s to a great year...well, of anime at least...

SESSKAG STARTER: “ give me your gun. “ “fuck, no. “
So this turned into a monster. For Tumblr at least. Curse me and my inability to write anything without a happy ending. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY!!!
To Serve and Protect
Summary: Detective Higurashi finds herself in a pinch during a raid, finding help in the unlikeliest of places.
Triggers/Warnings: Reference to gun wounds and hospitals
A continuation of this drabble/Tumblr prompt.
Read it on Ao3, Dokuga, and FFnet.
“Give me your gun.”
“Fuck no.”
Taisho’s eyes narrowed. “We do not have time for your bravado, detective. We need to move to the offensive, and you are in no condition to do so.”
Kagome opened her mouth to retort, but a twist in the wrong direction reminded her why she was on the ground in the first place. A stray bullet had caught her right shoulder, leaving her incapable of raising her gun, let alone firing it.
And Naraku’s flunkies were closing in.
She still didn’t trust Taisho but had to give him some credit for not up and leaving her once she’d hit the ground. He’d actually covered her long enough for the two of them to find some cover.
Before demanding she hand over her only means of defence.
“I remind you that had I been so inclined, I could have already relieved you of your weapon.”
“You don’t have to act so smug about it.”
“It is not arrogance, it is fact. Give me your weapon so that we may increase the likelihood of getting out of here alive.”
She looked around the small alcove she was currently hiding in. It covered her on three sides, but she was completely exposed on the front. If Taisho stayed here and they got past him—
Even as the thought crossed Kagome’s mind, he was pressing himself against the nearest wall, golden eyes scanning. His silver-blonde hair had been braided and tucked into his hoodie, giving their adversaries fewer ways to catch him unawares.
Up until that night, she’d always seen him in a suit. And not various combinations; each encounter had him in the complete ensemble, tie and jacket included. When he’d shown up in the dark hoodie and jeans, she hadn’t recognized him. It wasn’t until he’d approached her and actually spoken that Kagome had realized who he was.
He’d looked human.
She’d also been dismayed to realize that his suit wasn’t being used to give him the guise of a respectable physique. The hoodie and jeans proved he was just as toned as the suit made him out to be.
Blue met amber, Taisho’s hand outstretched between them. Kagome gritted her teeth but handed over her gun, feeling exposed without it. Her heart calmed a little as he quickly inspected it.
At least he knows how to use it properly.
“Stay here.”
Kagome rolled her eyes. “Where else would I go?”
“The snark is unnecessary.”
She would’ve flipped him off if she’d been able to raise her arm.
Watching as he moved silently away from her, Kagome was reminded of how little she knew about him. She still hadn’t figured out how a business executive, who’d been raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, had become an informant on the biggest crime boss in the city.
The banshees who wrote the gossip columns loved to wag their tongues about his private life, pairing him with a different person every week—and they weren’t always female. When the chief had first put her on this case, she’d groaned at the thought of having to babysit a spoiled brat who was more concerned with his image than anything else.
How quickly he’d proven her wrong.
Even his apartment was a contradiction. Sure, it was still a penthouse suite with a fantastic view, but there had never been any indication of anyone aside from himself living there. And he’d never acted spoiled at all. Pompous. Arrogant. But never spoiled. He was very aware of how much money he had and was never above sharing the wealth with those who deserved it.
The fact that he still had all his limbs was surprising.
“Don’t die,” she blurted.
The corner tilted up into a smirk. “Always so selfless, detective.”
Kagome shifted her weight, wincing as she felt blood drip between her fingers. “I figure that even if you don’t come back for me, if you live, you’ll be able to tell our backup where to find me.”
Taisho glanced at her over his shoulder. “I would not leave you here.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
A slight nod was his only response before slipping into the shadows. Kagome strained to distinguish between the grunts and curses of the men that had been chasing them, wondering which of them were caused by bullets from her own gun.
Her hiding spot gave her a good view of anyone who would try and get the drop on her, but she was still vulnerable without a weapon. Folding her legs, she tried to conceal herself better—even a few inches could be the difference between life and death.
She’d meant what she’d said before; she didn’t want Taisho to die. He didn’t deserve to have his life cut short by a slug like Naraku. Hopefully her stoic ally would be able to take out enough people to escape.
Her eyes fluttered shut as she leaned back, the dampness of her shirt concealed by the dark shade of the fabric.
She probably should’ve told him about the second bullet wound.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
She could hear her name. It was quiet but desperate.
Far away.
She needed to answer, but Kagome couldn’t open her eyes. She was so tired, and everything hurt.
The voice became demanding, pleading, and she leaned towards it, but all she found was darkness.
Why was it so crucial for her to wake up? Sleeping felt like a much better idea.
The voice fell away.
She’d find it later.
Time passed slowly. Or not at all. Something brushed the edge of her consciousness, gripping her fingers, pulling her out of the darkness.
No.
The darkness was more comfortable. The light brought pain and a buzzing—a beeping—sounded in her ears.
Dark lashes fluttered, and Kagome slowly opened her eyes, squinting at the bright lights and pale walls. The beeping was annoyingly constant, and she tried to pull away from it but found she couldn’t move.
Brows furrowing, she tried to sit up, groaning softly at the weight of her limbs.
“Took you long enough.”
Another voice. Not the same one as before. Her eyes closed, but she forced them open again.
“How’re you feeling? Other than a giant pile of shit?”
Kagura.
Chief, her brain reminded her.
“Where am I?”
Kagura’s face came into view, the concerned features blurred around the edges. “Tokyo General. You went and got yourself shot. Twice.”
Shot? Right, she’d been ambushed. There’d been more men than she’d anticipated.
“I should write you up for insubordination. And forgetting your throwdown weapon. And for giving your service weapon to a civilian.”
Civilian? Why would she have—
Blue eyes widened, the lines of the room suddenly becoming clear. “Taisho! Is he—”
A soft hand was placed on her chest, Kagura holding her down. “He’s fine. A few bumps and bruises, but certainly not as bad as you.”
Air whooshed out of Kagome’s lungs, relief coursing through her.
“He’s going to be pissed that you woke up when he’s not here, but oh well.”
Sucking in some of the air she’d lost, Kagome managed to turn her head, wincing as the muscles in her shoulder twinged. She was in a room by herself, various machines monitoring different parts of her body. Two tubes were attached to her arm, one clear, the other filled with blood.
How much had she lost?
The chief’s words finally registered, and she frowned. “Why would he be upset?”
Kagura’s lips thinned into a line, void of their usual crimson pallor. “You’ll have to ask him that. Apparently, he made quite the fuss when the rest of the team showed up.”
Kagome’s mouth mimicked Kagura’s as she struggled to stay conscious, fatigue clawing at her mind.
“Did we get him?”
The hand on her chest moved to her head, forcing her eyes to close. “We got him. Rest. You have nowhere to be right now.”
Unable to even nod, Kagome simply let the darkness take her again, the need for sleep drowning out all the questions rolling around in her mind.
When she woke again, the walls were the same, but the lights had shifted. The ones above her had been turned off, the coloured blinking of the machines reflecting off the white walls. The sun had set, no light filtering in through the blinds.
Her head felt significantly less fuzzy, but her body was still heavy, each movement a strain as she tried to sit up. And then a hand slid under her neck, adjusting her as the bed whirred, tilting her up into a sitting position.
Blue met gold when she opened her eyes, and Kagome gasped at the myriad of emotions tumbling across Taisho’s face. Time slowed again, though exceedingly less fuzzy this time, and when it finally returned to normal, he was sitting in a chair next to her bed, features pinched into a scowl.
“What time is it?”
“Late. Past midnight.” His voice was gruff, strained, and it was then that Kagome noticed the dark circles under his eyes. She tried to remember a time when he’d been anything less than pristine but came up empty.
“The chief said—”
“You lied.”
“What? When?”
“You said it was not serious.”
Oh.
Shit.
“I didn’t think it was. I’ve been shot in the arm before—”
“But not in the back.”
Kagome’s mouth snapped shut and she looked away, unable to meet his gaze. “No, I’ve never been shot in the back before.”
“So you lied.”
“I didn’t lie on purpose. I’d actually forgotten about it until you left, and by then—”
“You almost died.” The last word was hostile, startling Kagome into looking at him again.
Taisho’s face was blank, but his hands gripped the arms of his chair, his knuckles white. She suddenly realized he was still in the same clothes he’d been wearing when they’d been attacked. Something in Kagome’s chest fluttered that had nothing to do with the surgery she’d been through.
“I’m okay.”
His expression turned hollow. “You are not.”
“I am! It’ll probably take a little time to recover, but—”
Taisho grabbed her hand, his fingers biting into her palm. His chair hit the floor, the sound going unnoticed as she tried to make sense of the myriad of emotions passing over his face. The man was always in control, to the point of Kagome making a game out of getting under his skin, but this was different. There was something untamed in his features, and her heart constricted.
He’d been genuinely worried about her safety. About her.
Placing her other hand over his, she gave him a reassuring squeeze. “I’m going to be okay.”
Breath came out in a shudder before his knees hit the floor, long silver hair creating a curtain around his face as he pressed his forehead to her hands.
They stayed like that for a while, Kagome not daring to move, the only sound the steady beeping from the machines monitoring her status. When her energy began to wane, Taisho finally shifted, golden eyes peeking at her through a curtain of silver.
She offered him a soft smile.
“You should rest.”
“I am resting.”
A scowl pinched his features, and Kagome managed to laugh. Her hand was still in his, and she laced her fingers through his. Something the chief had said tugged at the back of her mind, stopping her from giving in to the exhaustion.
“What happened—” she asked, blinking slowly. “The chief said you were upset when the backup arrived.”
If she hadn’t been watching him so closely, she would’ve missed the slight darkening of his cheeks.
“I may have—” he paused, finally sitting up, “—overreacted.”
“Overreacted? You threatened to tear the head off anyone who tried to get near her.”
The pair jerked, Kagura smirking from the doorway.
“I did not—”
“You pointed Kagome’s gun in the medic’s face.”
His blush returned, and Kagura’s smirk widened before she turned to Kagome. “I’ve talked to your mom. Once you’re released, you’ll be going—”
“She will be coming home with me.”
“What?” Both women gave him an incredulous look.
Taisho’s determined gaze slid from their still connected hands up to Kagome’s surprised face. “You have spoken before about your mother running your family shrine. She will not be able to provide the care needed for your recovery.”
Her mouth opened and closed several times before she found the right words. “I don’t need a babysitter.”
“Actually, I agree with Taisho on this one.”
Kagome couldn’t muster more than a groan. “I followed protocol!”
“Minus all those things I told you I was going to write you up for.”
Fatigue and fury swirled in the detectives eyes, and Kagura put her hands up, laughing. “Alright, alright, I give. Don’t shoot me.”
“You are not amusing.”
Kagura winked at Taisho. “You’d be surprised.”
His lips thinned, but he turned to Kagome, his hand fingers tightening around hers. She opened her mouth to argue again, but the look in his eyes stilled her tongue.
“Please.” He’d righted his chair after Kagura had interrupted their conversation, now sitting in his original position but just as close to her as before. “Come home with me.”
The inflection of his voice, his whisper, made Kagome’s cheeks burn. He held her hand and her gaze, and Kagome, unable to look away, slowly nodded.
“I’ll let your mom know then.”
Biting her lip, Kagome nodded again, hypnotized by the softening of Taisho’s—Sesshoumaru’s—features. The flutter of his name against the inside of her mind. And her heart.
“You don’t get to leave until the doctors sign the release papers, Kagome,” Kagura reminded them. “Same goes for you, Taisho. None of this ‘using money to influence the professionals’ thing.”
“If you insist.”
“I do. You’re in enough trouble as it is.” Kagura cast one last look at Kagome, the woman having finally torn her gaze away from the man in front of her. “I’ll expect a full report once you’re settled.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The door closed behind her, and Kagome shut her eyes, her head beginning to spin. Sesshoumaru went to stand, but her hand clenched around his, not letting him leave.
“You require rest.”
“I meant what I said. I don’t need a babysitter.”
“Your chief seems to think otherwise.”
Kagome snorted, then winced as pain shot up between her shoulders. “The chief is in league with my mother and is overprotective of anyone in her section.”
“A commendable woman then.”
“Tai—Sesshoumaru, you don’t need to do this. You’re not responsible for my—”
“You are inclined to your interpretation of events. I am inclined to mine.”
Kagome sighed, her eyes settling on his hunched form. “You—”
“Kagome.”
A shiver that had nothing to do with her current condition ran up her spine, and Kagome was glad he’d never called her by her first name before then.
“I will do everything in my power to ensure your speedy recovery. Whether you agree to it or not.”
There it was.
A tired smile tugged at her lips. “It’ll probably be a long recovery.”
“Unsurprising.”
“And I’m going to have a lot of demands.”
“I am prepared.”
“You’ll have to be really thorough with your treatment.”
Pale eyebrows raised in surprise before he brought the back of her hand to his lips, golden eyes gleaming. “Only the best for you.”
Kagome hummed softly, dark lashes fluttering closed as she finally gave in to her body’s demands for rest.
She could’ve sworn she felt something brush across her forehead before she fell asleep.

WiPW - Ghost of Higurashi Shrine Edition
Tumblr media
So I’m working through the next chapter of “The Ghost of Higurashi Shrine” and I’m hoping to have it ready to go in a couple of weeks.
So to give you a little piece to tide you over, I offer you this little tidbit from the chapter titled, “I’m Running Purely on Spite and Bad Tea.”
Inuyasha slipped into the kitchen, knocking the remaining food into the trash and setting the plate in the sink.
“How much did she eat?”  Her mother asked, walking in.
“A piece of bread.”
“And she kept it down?”
“So far,” he said, with a short sigh.  “But just looking at it made her sick.”  He looked out the window at the grounds, trying to figure out what he was missing, what he wasn’t doing to make her better.
“Come here, dear,” her mother said, and he turned towards her after a moment.  She reached up wrapping her arms around his shoulders, and he let himself be dragged into her hold.  He’d forgotten what it was like to be hugged by a mother like this.
His own mother was a sharp but vague memory.  He remembered her hugs when he’d run up upset for whatever reason.  Her hands rubbed his shoulders as he slouched against her.
“She’s going to be fine.  This is just a little hiccup,” she told him, and he nodded into her shoulder.  She let go, and he stood upright.  “Have you checked to see if Kaede had anything?
“She said to check with her this evening, and she’d know more.”
Her mother nodded, moving to the sink to wash the dishes.
“Would you mind checking with her?  Just to see if she’s made any progress?”
He glanced upstairs.
“When she’s asleep,” he said, and her mother nodded.
“Of course,” she said with a genuine smile.  “Thank you so much for all that you’re doing for us.”
Inuyasha nodded again, heading towards the stairs and up to her room.
He stepped into the room, seeing Kagome stretched out in her bed, under the covers.
He sat in the side of her bed, staring at her pale skin and how her face contorted in discomfort.
She was uncomfortable from eating.
How the fuck was he supposed to fucking fix that?
His hand rested on her hip, and he talked to her.  Quietly, he reassured her that she was going to be fine, and he would find a way to fix this.
He would find a way to make sure that she got better, because losing her like he lost his mother—
He gave himself a mental shake and rose to his feet.  Sitting here talking about it wasn’t going to make anything better; it wasn’t going to make her better.
Striding out of the room, he headed towards the back door.
“Are you leaving?”  Her mother asked, peeking her head into the doorway.
“She’s asleep.  I’m going to go check in with Kaede.”
“Alright,” she said, and Inuyasha gave her a short nod before opening the door and bounding out for the well.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be books, anime movies or tv series)? Thanks....
Hi there!! Ahhh, I’d love to talk about my top 10 blorbos :) I always change my mind when I make lists like these lol. Idk if I can rank them, but here’s my favorite characters in no particular order 😊
Wei Wuxian from Mo Dao Zu Shi. He’s my icon for a reason. Love the necromancer boy.
Killua Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter. It’s been years but I still adore the skater boy
Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket. Best girl!!
Catra from She-ra & the Princesses of Power. The ultimate poor little meow meow <3
Lio Fotia from Promare. Pink flames and leather is a look!
Kagome Higurashi from Inuyasha. I was literally obsessed with her when I was a kid :)
Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto… He’s the guardian of my passport.
Jiang Cheng from Mo Dao Zu Shi. I was trying to add one per fandom, but I’m breaking that rule and adding the grape man.
Luo Binghe from Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System. I really love the whole crybaby demon thing he’s got going on. (It hurts me not to add Shen Qingqiu (ಥ﹏ಥ) but he would be number 11)
Okay, I can rank one character. My absolute favorite fictional character. The most blorbo to ever blorbo.
Ash Lynx from Banana Fish. He stands in a league of his own. I have never wanted to pluck a character out of their own story more. Fic writers who give him healing and happy stories on ao3, I owe you my life (I watched this show every week when it was airing in 2018 and if you sort my bookmarks by fandom, even though I am a huge mxtx fan now, this one is still at the top.) Anyway, here comes the boy 🥺❤️

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 3 Tatarigoroshi pt. 10
Before we get into the real meat of it, I would like to talk briefly about a technical aspect of the GOG release of Higurashi (probably Steam as well). If you are playing the game (reading the visual novel) on two computers and using cloud saves, but don't have the same mods installed across both computers, this can actually bork your saves up.
In Tatarigoroshi part 9 I mentioned briefly how at the start of chapter ten it just has Keiichi mention point blank that he murdered the hell out of Teppei Houjou. I initially thought this was a remarkably quick change of pace from how the rest of the VN had presented facts. It turns out, playing the VN on my desktop computer (my Strong Lad) and not on my laptop as I usually do caused the save to somehow skip over chapter ten entirely. I read roughly an hour or so of chapter nine on my laptop earlier and it deals almost exclusively with how Keiichi executing his plot to kill Teppei Houjou. So I got curious just how much they'd written to extend this part for the console release (the console port got new art, so maybe they wrote a small extra part just for console). When it got to one of the mid-chapter stopping points I decided to see how much was left in the chapter and skipped towards the end. After verifying the chapter was over, I went about my day and eventually decided to check it on my desktop. "I'll read it for a while to see where they decide to converge the paths," I thought and so I read for a while, until I started thinking that something seemed off. This chapter ten seemed awfully different to what I'd just read. So I decided again, to use the skip dialogue until it got to the end of the chapter, where it gave me different TIPS than the ones the one on my laptop gave me. That being said, let's continue.
Tumblr media
As you can see, he's becoming slightly more unhinged, considering he now thinks he'll be able to just move on from killing a man.
Tumblr media
Bearer, seek seek lest.
I think it's an interesting idea, this notion that he's decided to become a gun for Oyashiro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the console remake art is flips very quickly through a handful of the environmental scenes while showing the words that the remake version has there. It's a neat effect, and I curse Nvidia for my recording software not working at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that it's just a product of his deeply unwell mind, but I don't really understand why he's decided to project this almost heavenly aura on to the bat Satoshi left behind. Keiichi is treating it like it's a divine holy instrument, and the embodiment of Satoshi's will, when up until twelve hours in-game ago he thought Satoshi was a bum who just cut and run when the going got tough. He's acting like he's inherited the divine sword of justice in an RPG, and not the bat of Kevin the bed wetter who was mid at baseball. Like I said, I know this is a symptom of an unwell mind, but it's just wild to see him completely flip and change opinions on a guy that when you get down to it he knows nothing about.
Tumblr media
I think you're gonna have a bad time. Oh yeah, also Keiichi dug the hole he's going to plant a seed of Houjou to see what flowers out of it later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so the trap has been sufficiently baited, and Teppei walks unknowingly into his doom.
Tumblr media
Bad news Tep, you lost your living perms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so begins the murder of one Teppei Houjou by the Coward Keiichi Maebara.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not saying I wanted to see it, but given how the visual novel up to the point has shied away from depictions of murder I'm surprised at how graphic this scene is. You basically get to read all about how Keiichi just splatters this man apart. Whereas in Onikakushi it was just "Mion and Rena got beaten to death with a bat," and left it at that.
Tumblr media
"I felt muscular and compact, like corned beef."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so it ends. Keiichi Maebara beat the life out of Teppei all for the sake of a relationship that a little over a week ago seemed more perfunctory than anything. Also I do find it interesting how he's taken this view that you're allowed a single murder on the night of Watanagashi. It's like a little Purge, a little murder, as a treat.
Tumblr media
Sure. Keep telling yourself that buddy.
Tumblr media
It's all fun and games until you have to clean up afterwards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Realistically that's probably how that would play out though. He goes to all the trouble to plot and scheme the murder only to slip fall and drown to death in a swamp. So Keiichi drives the motorcycle the late Tenpenny Houjou had into the swamp, and then begins to have a heart to heart with what he feels is the now at peace spirit of Satoshi.
Tumblr media
I know it's not what will happen, but it would be funny if Keiichi goes to all this effort and thinks he's done well for the spirit of Satoshi and Satoko, and he just shows up cause he's back from wherever he ran off to. And it turns out the entire time he was just having off-screen adventures and didn't actually murder anyone. Anyway, shortly after axe-throwing the baseball bat into the swamp Keiichi realizes the problem with committing a night-based murder and finds he doesn't know where he is, or where he left the hole he was going to dump the body in. Which is a pretty amateur mistake to make given all of his plotting and scheming about where, when, and how to do the deed that he forgot the simple truth that it gets dark at night.

I wrote a thing.
@superpixie42 and I chatted about this a while back when she reblogged a post about how skinny Inuyasha is (I can’t find the original so I googled a pic). And about Mama Higurashi feeding Inuyasha. I said I would let this idea percolate and write something. Didn’t manage to cram all the ideas in, but here we are :)

WEEKLY SPECIALS
[Mama Higurashi + Inuyasha]
It was no more than three steps away from the elaborately stacked display of packaged goods, when her feet stopped her forward movement.
Mama Higurashi shook her head a little, laughing quietly at her own indecisiveness. Sure, this month’s budget was on the tight side, but surely they had enough to spend just a little more. It was on sale after all.
Her hands gripped the horizontal bar of the shopping cart once, like the knock of a gavel signalling a proclamation. She reached back behind her, and secured another pack, tossing it in to join the others. Inside the metal cage, the silly cartoon chicken grinned up at her from the neon blue background. It was Inuyasha’s favourite brand of instant noodles.
Strange that it had only been a bit more than a month, yet it already seemed as if the loud, but kind-hearted boy had always been part of her family. It’d become routine to see the red blur chasing after Souta around the courtyard with Kagome’s dark hair and forest green uniform thrown in the mix.
If he’d been born to a different life, he would’ve been forced to listen to his own mother lecture him on the nutritional value of instant ramen–or lack thereof. But it so happened that the kami had deposited this silver hair, doggy-eared boy at her own kitchen table instead. Like any well-meaning mother, she too would’ve gladly fed him something home cooked and more nutritious, but she couldn’t deny him any happiness, knowing that it must be hard to come by in his life.
And boy was he content.
They had established an unspoken routine, when sometimes, while Kagome was at school, Inuyasha would shyly slip into her kitchen around lunch time. Within minutes, his face would be buried in a steaming bowl of noodles, ears twitching in time with his loud slurps, his whole body fairly vibrating with delight.
Mama Higurashi would make sure to top those processed noodles up with plenty of greens, eggs and thick slices of meat. And of course, daikon, which Inuyasha seemed to consume with gusto when soaked in the flavoured broth.
She saw through his billowy clothing. ‘Lean’ would be a kinder term, but frankly, Inuyasha could do with more flesh on his bones, half-demon or not.
By habit, she continued to walk while her mind was preoccupied with her musings. Looking up, she smiled, shaking her head yet again, realizing she’d taken herself to the meat section instead of the cashiers.
It’d probably be another month or so before she’d need to shop for meat again; the freezer at home was stuffed to bursting.
Sure, when she’d come up the shrine steps towards the house and spied the tiny trail of rust red drops, she just about lost her head. But when she tore into the house, following said trail, all she found was Inuyasha, looking awkward and sheepish. He’d deposited an impressive amount of meat into the kitchen sink.
“Least I could do,” He’d shrugged. “Ya feed me when y’don’t haveta.”
Mama was grateful for the sentiment, and even more so that he’d been thoughtful enough to skin and roughly butcher the animal he’d brought her.
The familiar beeps of the scanner sounded in the background, as she loaded the last of her cart’s items onto the belt.
“You’re sure making the best of our ramen sale this week, ma’am.” The cashier chimed in softly, making small talk as she continued scanning in the items.
“Yes.” Mama replied. “It’s the family’s favourite brand.”
The older employee smiled back, nodding knowingly. “Ah yes, I remember that period of time. Dare I guess you’ve got a house full of hungry teenagers, judging from your shop today?”
The comment made her pause, triggering a rush of emotion she wasn’t quite prepared for, but she recovered quickly.
“Oh yes,” She smiled again, but this time, it reached her eyes, crinkling the corners. “I have two boys and a girl. All ravenous, especially when there’s oden.”

Before Time | Sesshomaru x Reader | Prequel to Beyond Time
Beyond Time | Sesshomaru x Reader
A/N: This is just short mini stories. Reader meeting Sesshomaru in this time line, how they fell in love. I have a sequel as well in mind about their future as well coming. I don’t have timeline yet though between work and school and just needing me time.
Tumblr media
(Y/n) wandered into the property of the Higurashi’s. It had been a couple of weeks since Kagome had been present in her English class and she couldn’t help but worry about her favorite student. It was strange, it was as if she and Kagome were meant to be friends. Like the universe just called them together. (Y/n) held the small stack of homework and the box of snacks she brought with her to bring to Kagome, however when she began to approach the house something shining in the old well house caught her eye.
It was as if she was meant to follow it. Like the well house was calling to her.
A little peak wouldn’t hurt... would it?
She wandered forward, gripping the items in her hands. (Y/n) pushed the door open and leaned in. A frown contorted on her face. Nothing was in there. Not even a lantern.
“Weird.” Gently, the items were placed down on the ground by the well. She leaned forward, trying to see the bottom of the well. Still nothing out of the ordinary, she leaned even more. She could have sworn she felt a slight breeze coming from the well. “Hello?”
What a dumb thing to say into the well.
She moved to stand up however, something caught her leg. A small furry something, which caused her to jump loosing balance and falling into the well. Her heart instantly dropped into her stomach. She was going to get hurt that’s for sure. The way she fell she’d most likely hit her head and who knows when she would be found!
Her eyes were shut tight and when she opened them again, she was on the ground. Upside down, but alert and not majorly injured save for her back being in an awkward position that was quite sore due to her general size.
“Hello?!” She shouted from the bottom.
Meanwhile Kagome and Inuyasha had just left the well. Kagome only returned long enough to her time to grab some more medications and other supplies but Inuyasha nagged so much she didn’t bother to stay for school. That was the light (Y/n) had saw originally. They were just starting to walk away when Inuyasha stopped.
“What the hell?” He ran back to the well noticing the voice and new smell from the bottom. His golden eyes widened at the sight of a young woman. A slightly plump young woman and one who had a different look about her, something he just wasn’t sure of. “Wha-” Kagome was at his side and saw her at the bottom of the well. “Ms. (Y/L/N)?!” she turned to Inuyasha. “Help her out! Don’t just stand there.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes and hopped down helping her out. After that time. After that day, the young teacher had found themselves returning back and forth with Kagome helping them to defeat Naraku.
--
It wasn’t for a couple of months after that (Y/n) had that the young adult would even meet her darling Sesshomaru. In fact, she had no clue Inuyasha had a brother. It was late at night, the fire was roaring. Inuyasha and (Y/n) were the only ones awake. Casually talking about nothing important. It was strange really, how well Inuyasha and the human woman got along. It even surprised Kagome.
“I think you’re improving” Inuyasha told her, as he watched her practice with her weapon. They would often train to help make sure she is as sharp as ever, just to be extra safe. He began to put away his sword however he paused when the wind shifted. “Damn it. Stay back, (Y/n)..” “What’s wrong?”
He didn’t have time to answer, a deep voice spoke. “Inuyasha.” A silver haired man appeared, (Y/n) breath caught in her chest as she looked him over. He was beautiful. Someone she couldn’t even dream of. “Training a human?” He scoffed, looking her over. Something in his demeanor changed when he actually gave her a good look.
It was almost as if he couldn’t stop looking her over.
Strange.
He moved. He was quick. So very quick. In one moment he was in front of her. His golden eyes examined her face carefully. “Sesshomaru you leave her alone, you bastard.” Sesshomaru h’mfphed softly, glaring at Inuyasha. “I have no interest in fighting you right now, little brother.”
Then he was gone, as if they were the ones who bothered him.
“Idiot.” Inuyasha huffed.
--
It was a while later when (Y/n) finally joined Sesshomaru’s journey. It all happened during a large fight with a large amount of Naraku’s demons. (Y/n) got separated from Kagome and the others, she was inured. It was her leg. A large gash ran down her calf and simply could not move from her place where she had ended up. Sesshomaru was the one who found her. He followed the scent of her blood.
He stared at her a long time. As if he were arguing within himself.
Then he walked to her, kneeling before her. He lifted her leg without speaking examining it. He said nothing the entire time he took care of the wound. It was strange.
“Not that I don’t appreciate it...” (Y/n) broke the silence. “But... why are you helping me...”
He looked at her, his face was emotionless but something about his energy made her feel like he was unsure. Reluctant.
“I don’t have to explain myself to a human like you.” He finished the work he put in before moving forward to lift her easily with his arm.
“W-What are you doing?”
He didn’t respond, however he brought her to Jaken and commanded him to care for her wound until she healed to the little imps dismay. Slowly, she began to come back to feudal Japan, traveling with Kagome only until Sesshomaru returned for her which in turn became Sesshomaru waiting for her by the well.
--
His confession was strange.
Sesshomaru never said a word, however, it was one night after she helped Rin fall asleep. She was reading a book in a language Sesshomaru didn’t understand but learned to enjoy hearing. His golden eyes never left her, it had been months of internal battles on why he wanted her around so much. Then it came crashing down in that moment. The glow of the fire against her skin and the way her lips curled into a small smile as she read.
He was in love with her.
The great dog demon fell for the silly and slightly plump human.
She was his everything. She knew him. She saw past his coldness. It was as if she was inside his head, though it was often filtered by her world’s dialect.
Without hesitation, Sesshomaru stood up kneeling before her and lifting her chin to face him.
“You’re my woman.” He said simply before kissing her. His lips were sweet yet numbing. It was wonderful and she didn’t want it to stop. Of course she wanted to be his and she wanted him to be hers but she had no idea. No clue that he wanted her back. He was so god-like in so many parts of his life.
“I-” She was going to speak when he pulled away but he kissed her again before she could. This time she reached up, pulling him to her deepening the kiss. Her mouth opened and his tongue explored her dominantly, but of course he allowed her own tongue to explore him as well,
“You are mine” He said simply.

TAKING FLIGHT

A childhood friends to lovers, soulmates AU
Read on AO3 or Below the Cut
Inuyasha was already awake and drinking a cup of strong black coffee when his father arrived. Touga chuckled at the sight of Kouga sleeping on the floor, curled into a ball with his tail wrapped around his waist. Miroku was still obviously unconscious on the couch, lying face down, with mouth open and drool slowly pooling below.
“You boys had a nice evening then I take it?” Touga asked him as he poured himself some coffee into a mug.
Inuyasha laughed slightly. “Sure. You could say that. We all got drunk, well Miroku got absolutely pissed, and then Kouga tried to fight me.”
Touga raised a brow at that. “For the fun of it or for a specific reason?”
“Cause he still wants Kagome. Told me that if he could beat me that he would be the one to marry Kagome today.”
“I take it that went...well? The furniture all seems to be intact.”
“Oh I was all for the fight, then I just said no and went to bed.” Inuyasha set his now empty mug in the sink before heading back to the living room. “I’m sober and my hangover is almost gone so I imagine Kouga is fine and just sleeping in, lazy bastard. Miroku will be feeling like crap if he’s even sober by now.”
Inuyasha knelt by the couch and gave Miroku a shake. “Miroku, buddy.” Inuyasha shook him again when there was no response. “Miroku, time to wake up.”
Miroku groaned, rolling onto his back “Go way.” He muttered.
“Well you can wake up now and have some coffee and we can hit a drive thru for some greasy food for you and you can still stand by me today as my best man or I’ll ask my dad to stand in your stead. Which would you prefer?”
Miroku’s eyes fluttered open. “There was no option in there for you to kill me so I’m on the fence.”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes, rising. “Kouga. Wake up, either come with us or go home. You’re not staying here.”
Kouga flipped Inuyasha the bird from his place on the floor, but still opened his eyes and ran a hand over his face. Groaning, he sat up. With a heavy sigh he stood before making his way towards the bathroom. “I’m coming, wouldn’t want to disappoint Kagome by not having her favorite youkai in attendance.”
Inuyasha let out a warning growl just before Kouga slammed the door closed.
“You guys aren’t friends right?” Touga questioned as he handed a fresh mug of coffee over to the now sitting Miroku.
“Nope, I put up with his existence because Kagome has a soft spot for sad lonely wolves.”
“I heard that!” Kouga yelled through the door just before the sound of the toilet flushing came through.
“Good.” Inuyasha called to him. “I’m gonna go grab some socks and mine and Kagome’s luggage. We can head out after Miroku finishes his coffee.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Inuyasha sat in the passenger seat, munching on a hashbrown as his father drove and Miroku and Kouga sat in the back, both chowing down on breakfast sandwiches from the drive thru.
“Did you have to go home first?” Inuyasha asked his father as he sipped coffee from his paper cup.
“No, we are stopping by the Higurashi’s; Kagome left her overnight bag there and your mother texted me and asked me to grab something she left there as well.”
Inuyasha nodded, looking out the window and watching the scenery pass by. He thought that he would be feeling nervous by now but found that he was more antsy and anticipatory for the whole event to begin.
When the car pulled into the short drive and came to a stop, both Inuyasha and Touga climbed out and made their way to the house. Inuyasha used his key to let them inside, he proceeded towards Kagome’s old room while his father went towards the kitchen. He immediately noticed Kagome’s bag, resting on the computer chair in front of the desk. He glanced around the room and peeked into the bathroom to make sure she hadn’t left anything else lying about. After snagging her hairbrush off the bathroom counter and tossing it into her bag, he noticed that one of his shirts was tucked underneath her favorite pajama bottoms.
Inuyasha pulled the shirt free, bringing it to his nose he inhaled deeply, the sweet scent of Kagome was strong on the fabric but there was a hint of his own as well. The combination of the two scents had Inuyasha’s youkai ‘purring’ as Kagome liked to put it. Upon the realization that she must have worn it to bed during their night apart, he clutched the shirt to his chest and bowed his head over it. While he wished that she didn’t have to deal with having such a hard time being apart, Inuyasha was slightly ashamed to admit that he was also glad that he wasn’t alone in the feelings. Bringing the shirt back to his nose he took one final whiff before tucking the shirt back into the bag and zipping it closed.
Bag slung over his shoulder, he met his father by the front door.
“Dad, can I ask you something?”
“You know you can.”
“How did you and mom do this? Stay a night apart, I mean. I feel it shouldn’t be this...difficult to sleep away from Kagome for one night. I mean, we are apart for a majority of the day during work.”
“Well, mainly, your mother and I were already bonded before we got married, so that helped. It still wasn’t easy, trying to sleep when your mate isn’t there is extremely challenging. Being full youkai, I don’t think I could’ve handled sleeping apart at your mother’s request if we hadn’t been bonded already. But you made it through and it should get easier here soon, just knowing your mate is in the same vicinity as you, surrounded by family. And just keep in mind that by this time tomorrow you will be a husband, mate, and soul bonded, and your mother and I couldn’t be more proud.” Touga clasped Inuyasha tightly on the shoulder, squeezing lightly in affection.
Inuyasha gave an almost shy smile. “Thanks dad.”
The pair shared a brief tight hug before heading out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Inuyasha finished buttoning up his dress shirt before reaching for the cufflinks that his father had worn on his wedding day. He turned as he slipped the first one into place, taking in the sight of Miroku sitting on the sofa in the ‘man cave’ as the venue called it. He was nursing another bottle of water, head resting on his open palm.
“So, care to tell me what all the excessive drinking was about last night?”
Miroku rotated his head slightly in the semblance of a head shake. “I… had a date with Sango last week and I fucked it up.”
“How did you manage to fuck it up, haven’t you two been going on dates for months? Haven’t you already had sex?”
“Yes. I did something really stupid, panicked and ran out of there; leaving her with the bill and all alone in the middle of the restaurant. And I haven’t responded to any of her calls or texts and I just don’t want to face her today.”
“What did you do?” Inuyasha chuckled, straightening his sleeves after pinning the second cufflink into place.
“Don’t want to talk about it.”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “I’m sure it’ll be ok, you guys have been doing this dance since junior year. Off and on, someone always says something to screw things up, you guys fight or don’t speak. Then one of you apologizes to the other, or you guys get drunk and make up.”
As Miroku opened his mouth to reply, the door to the room creaked open, and Izayoi’s bright smiling face appeared.
“How’s it coming in here, boys?”
“We’re great, mom. You can come in.”
She slipped into the room, letting the door snik shut behind her. Her eyes quickly took in the room, scanning everything before settling on Miroku.
Inuyasha looked over his mother as she studied Miroku for a moment. She wore a floor length midnight blue sheath dress that Inuyasha knew perfectly matched the markings that graced his father’s cheeks. The bodice had a layer of flowery lace in the same shade, cinched at the waist before flowing to the floor in a shimmer of satin.
“Miroku, dear. Would you mind helping Touga outside for a few minutes, please?”
Miroku’s brows met his hairline for a moment as he looked back and forth between Inuyasha and Izayoi.
“Ummm, yeah, sure.”
“Thank you, dear.” Izayoi gave him a sweet smile as she watched him go.
Inuyasha turned back to the floor length mirror, picking up his pale golden tie from the side table. Looping it around his neck, he watched his movements in the mirror as he began tying the Windsor knot. He was halfway finished when his large hands were cupped by smaller delicate ones.
Izayoi took the tie into her hands and resumed Inuyasha’s work as his hands dropped to his sides.
“Kagome looks lovely.”
Inuyasha gave her one of his rare genuine smiles. “She’s always lovely.”
“Transcendent then.” Izayoi stuck her tongue out at him before giggling and folding down his collar, adjusting his tie into place.
Izayoi stretched up to her toes and placed a kiss on his cheek. Dropping back onto her heels she made her way over and sat on the sofa Miroku had vacated. Waving him over she pointed to the floor in front of her.
“Sit.”
Inuyasha stopped in front of her. “Sit on the floor? But I’ll wrinkle my pants.”
She rolled her eyes and smiled. “They’ll be fine for a few minutes, sit please.”
He sat on the floor between her legs, crossing his legs and instantly relaxing. He had always found sitting on the ground, comforting.
Izayoi picked up the hairbrush that was resting on the side table and began to brush Inuyasha’s hair in gentle, slow strokes.
“I remember,” she said softly, “doing this when you were a little boy. You were always so excited for it. You’d come running to me with the brush and you would instantly climb into my lap when I would sit down. Oh, how it used to lull you to sleep, you would slowly start to slump over more and more until you fell asleep right there in my arms. I would just rock you in your sleep until your father came and scooped you up and carried you to bed.”
Inuyasha smiled fondly at the memory, eyes drifting closed as the sense of peace came over him. “You used to hum too.” He murmured.
She hummed her acknowledgement before beginning to hum a soft lullaby under her breath. When the song was finished she leaned forward and planted a kiss to the back of his head, setting the brush down on the cushion beside her.
“I love you, mom.”
She ran her fingers through his hair. “I love you too. You know, you have been and always will be my little boy; but you’ve belonged to Kagome just as long. Your father and I are so happy that this day is here and we are so proud of the man you’ve become. You’ve always done whatever you can to take care of and provide for Kagome, and those are amazing things to receive from a mate.” She kissed him again before rising.
Inuyasha stood and turned towards her, quickly moving to wipe her cheeks when he spotted the dampness there.
Izayoi smiled tenderly at him. “Today is a joyous day. One of the happiest days of my life was marrying your father, tied with the actual mating, and having you of course.” She lovingly stroked his cheek. “Now. Let’s get you in your jacket and outside.”
Inuyasha nodded slightly as he pulled her into his arms, tucking her under his chin and holding her tightly. He held her for several long moments before he released her.
“Ok. I’m ready, let’s do this.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kagome had been pampered, massaged, prodded and poked all morning and she was ready to be done. While the beginnings of the day had felt great, she was ready for the hair pulling, fidgeting, pins poking her head, and the fussing to be over with. All she wanted was to walk down the aisle and tell Inuyasha how much he meant to her and then be whisked away as husband and wife and spend the night in his arms.
She missed him something fierce, and she felt like she was starting to itch under her skin. She couldn’t quite figure out if that was the bond making her extra antsy and on edge being away from him or if it was just in her head. She could only imagine how Inuyasha was feeling about the separation since he had always felt the effects of the bond much more strongly than she had.
“Your hair turned out so beautifully.” Her mother stood directly behind her, stroking a gentle hand across her shoulder.
Kagome noticed Sango, her friend since freshman year of college, and Ayame, her good friend she was a new start with at work, standing behind her mother in the mirror she was sitting in front of, both nodding their agreement. She hoped to introduce Ayame and Kouga later at the reception, she had a feeling that they would get along and she hoped that they would hit it off pretty well. She had always felt a little guilty that Kouga still carried a torch for her even after finding out that she was Inuyasha’s mate.
Turning her attention back to the mirror, she turned her head back and forth, taking in her seemingly simpler hairstyle that had cost more than she had been willing to pay. A relaxed french braid started at either temple, forming a crown of sorts around her head and met together in the back to form a low messy bun. Loose tendrils fell from her bun and more were deliberately left out framing her face with slightly wavy strands. A simple gold leaf and pearl hair vine comb was pinned up against the side of her bun. She really did love it but still felt that the style could’ve been achieved without paying the amount that they had but her mothers had insisted that a wedding day was a day to splurge for the finer things, like having someone else to do your hair and makeup. Kagome was happy to have talked them out of insisting that she hire a makeup artist as well, pleading with them that her friends had asked and wanted to participate by being the ones to do her makeup. They had done a great job, her skin looked smooth, and she was shining in all the right places, her eye makeup was noticeable with the winged eyeliner and the shimmering gold shadow but it was all light enough to still look closer to a natural style.
“Alright, let’s get you into your dress.” Izayoi came over carrying a shoe box that she set on the vanity.
Twenty minutes and eight overly helpful hands later, Kagome was finally tucked into her dress. Izayoi and Sango guided her over to her chair and helped her sit, rucking up her dress as her mother and Ayame knelt on the floor, each bearing a shoe.
“Guys.” Kagome protested. “I can put my own shoes on.”
“Don’t be silly, darling.” Izayoi spoke by her side. “It’s hard to reach your own feet in a wedding dress, besides we enjoy helping.”
Kagome held back any further comments as each of her feet were worked into her crochet lace pointy toed flats with a sheer organza lace up ribbon. Although she was able to walk without her crutch now and almost always had a smooth gait when she walked, she wasn’t able to get much practice in with heels and had decided that it would be safer to wear flat shoes. But that hadn’t stopped her from taking Sango and trying to find the prettiest flats she could, and she thought the ballerina lace up shoes were to die for. After they finished criss-crossing and wrapping the ribbon around her leg and tying it into a neat little bow at the back of her calf, both Ayame and her mother stood.
“There.” Her mother beamed. “Now, let me grab my phone before you get your first look in the mirror.”
All four of her helpers reached for their phones at once. There were no blinding flashes throughout the day so far, no intruding presence, the photographer they had hired had been snapping photos throughout the process, occasionally disappearing to where Kagome could only guess was the ‘man cave’ where the boys were getting ready. Even though the photographer, Lacy, Kagome thought her name was, had been amazingly silent and unobtrusive, everyone else was still insistent on taking photos on their phones.
Kagome had been avoiding her own phone for most of the day, fighting the urge to text Inuyasha. But she came to the conclusion that having some hand taken photos and selfies of her wedding day would be a nice addition as well. Rising, she made her way to the vanity, careful not to look into the mirror. Pulling her phone out of her bag, she opened up the camera and turned to snap a few photos of everyone else digging their phones out of their bags, except Sango who was explaining some app she had to Kagome’s mother.
“Ready? Will someone take some photos with my phone too?” Kagome unlocked her screen, her lip quivering slightly at the sight of Inuyasha’s grinning face gracing her wallpaper.
“Yeah I got it, Kagome.” Ayame said as she came up beside her and gently took the phone from her hands, patting her softly on the shoulder. “You’ll see him soon, he’s fine and you’re doing great.”
“Thanks.” Kagome murmured as she sniffled before turning away.
Shaking herself out of her momentary lapse she slowly made her way over to the floor length mirror in the corner. She gasped when she saw herself. She had loved the dress when she saw it in the catalog but she was amazed that it looked as great as it had before. Knowing she was being ridiculous since she had seen herself during her fitting, this felt different, more final.
The intricately embellished bold lace bust delicately embroidered with sequins had a deep v-shaped neckline showing off just the right amount of cleavage. The bust flowed into a voluminous silk chiffon circle skirt, ending as it graced the floor. Turning slightly she caught sight of the low open back that ended with a small silken bow. Smiling, she turned to face the mirror again, reaching up to finger the delicate hand-beaded shoulder detailing with strings of thin spider-silk-like beaded strands dangling off her shoulder in drooping half circles.
Kagome was vaguely aware of exclaimed praises and comments about capturing good photos but it was all background noise. She shook herself from her daze and turned back to face the group, the sooner she was done fawning over herself the sooner she could walk down the aisle. They snapped a few more photos before taking turns taking selfies with her then gathering for group photos. They asked the photographer to also take photos with all their phones of the small group of women.
Kagome’s mother pulled her aside and hugged her, stroking a tender hand across her shoulder.
“I wish your father was here to see how beautiful and happy you are. I know he’d be so proud of the woman you’ve become.”
Tears filled Kagome’s eyes, her gut clenching as it always did when she remembered the accident that took her father from her.
“Thanks mom, I love you.”
“I love you too, sweetheart.” She pulled her into another brief tight hug as Izayoi stepped up beside them.
“I’m going to go check on the boys and make sure Inuyasha is ready and get him out there. Take a few minutes to yourself, your mother and Sango will wait for you outside the door.”
Kagome nodded, giving her soon to be mother in law a hug. As the door closed behind the group Kagome let out a sigh of relief at finally being alone for the first time that day. She gathered up the couple items of hers that were strewn about the room and piled them into her bag; sneaking at glance at Inuyasha’s photo on her phone before tucking that too away and zipping the bag closed. Her mother had mentioned coming back to the room after the ceremony to grab her bag for her so Kagome wanted to make it as easy as possible on her.
Walking over to the vanity she sat, taking a few calming breaths. When she stood again she felt her weak leg give a little tremble. Sighing, she went back to her bag and extracted her brace. Sitting down she hastily pulled her skirt up and with difficulty managed to get her shoed foot through the brace and pulled up into place. After a stern glare at the brace, she stood, smoothing her skirt back into place. She gave one last glance into the floor length mirror before making her way to the door.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Inuyasha escorted his mother down the aisle, a symbol to their guests that it was time to find their seats as the ceremony would be beginning shortly. Kagome and Inuyasha had opted to not have a long drawn out intro to the ceremony, not wanting to wait what would feel like forever as bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle. So Sango and Miroku were already in place at the end of the aisle, standing to either side, ready to support and be witness to the union of their friends. In truth, Inuyasha hadn’t wanted anything to draw attention away from Kagome being presented and walking down the aisle.
Inuyasha studied the trees that they had picked to get married under. They were beautiful, far reaching weeping willows, standing slightly apart. Leaving the perfect amount of space for the couple to stand together in front of everyone and declare their love for each other. Kagome and both of their mothers had come out the day before and helped the venue string up fairy lights all along the tree branches. Allowing some to hang down from the branches towards the ground. The effect was almost magical as the sun began to set and the light a little lower, drawing more attention to the lit tree.
As Inuyasha reached the end of the aisle with his mother he stopped. Izayoi withdrew her arm from his before stretching up and placing a kiss on his cheek. She gave him a tender smile before moving to take the empty seat beside his father.
Moving to take his place beside Miroku, Inuyasha clasped his hands tightly together in front of him. His nerves spiked as his senses were suddenly overwhelmed, finally feeling Kagome’s presence nearby again.
Oh, how he had missed it, the feel of her gentle, loving presence brushing up against his. Her smiling face, her love filled eyes as she looked at him with adoration. He was hard pressed to believe that they had only spent a night apart, it felt like it had been days, weeks, years even. His yearning for her had grown so strong that when she stepped out from the tent flap beside her mother all breath and coherent thought left him.
She was the most divine creature he had ever laid eyes on. He glanced over her. Yes, the dress was beautiful and her hair was nice but he was more interested in her face. The brightness in her face and the smile that showed her absolute happiness of the moment. It spread to him, her joy, and he felt it reach him deep down into his soul, soothing his youkai.
He noticed the tightening of her hand wrapped around her bouquet, the catch in her breath and the speed of her already rapidly beating heart kick up a notch when she glanced up and met his eye. Hers a warm chocolate from a distance but he knew them intimately. Knew that they held many shades, shades of whiskey and a crystallized honey. Eyes focus solely on him, the bright gleam in her eyes only for him. Eyes that saw everything of him, that pierced through any gruffiness he might have had at the world and saw straight through to him.
When Kagome and her mother reached him, he stepped forward, placing a kiss on her mother’s cheek before taking Kagome’s hand and leading her the rest of the way to the front. As they stopped in front of Totosai, his father’s long time friend, they turned to face each other. Kagome, still smiling and Inuyasha suspected that he had a goofy grin planted on his face.
Totosai spoke a few words of welcome to their guests, speaking the meaning of marriage and how happy he was that Kagome and Inuyasha were coming together; but Inuyasha didn’t hear the words, all his attention on Kagome. Inuyasha’s mind finally registered the words that were being spoken when Totosai spoke again.
“Kagome and Inuyasha have asked to incorporate a handfasting into their ceremony. And have asked that Inuyasha’s father, Touga, step forward and honor them in officiating the ritual.”
Inuyasha’s attention was drawn away from Kagome for the first time since she had appeared from underneath the tent to walk down the aisle. He glanced over at his father, who was rising from his seat amongst the front row, surprise clearly written on his face as he straightened his coat. Kagome and himself had decided not to mention including the handfasting into their ceremony to anyone other than Totosai, wanting it to be a surprise and a gift for his father.
Handfasting was an old tradition, something developed not from their heritage but was adopted early on in youkai society as an additional symbol of a soul bonded match. It was considered a great honor among youkai to be chosen by a bonded couple to perform the ritual.
As Touga walked around the couple, Totosai pulled him aside. They talked in hushed murmurs for a few moments before separating and Totosai stepped off to the side, standing near Miroku, with a smile on his face. Touga took his place behind the couple, facing them and the gathering, holding three satin cords in one clawed hand.
Though he had to clear his throat before beginning, Touga spoke loudly and clearly. “Though not originating from the youkai, handfasting was quickly developed into mating and marriage ceremonies as a perfect outward display of a soul bond. It is considered extremely fortuitous and rare to find your soulmate as well as a blessing to witness the joining. I am beyond honored to stand before you all as I guide my son and my new daughter into their union.”
Turning his attention back to the couple, Touga spoke to them. “If you would join right hands, please.”
Kagome turned, handing off her bouquet to Sango before turning back to Inuyasha and offering up her right hand. Inuyasha gently clasped it with his own, his eyes roving her face, taking in every detail.
“With full awareness, know that before this gathering of witnesses you are not only declaring your intent to be bound before your friends and family, but also by joining hands you are representing your willingness in the union, if one of you is unwilling to be bound to the other, please now lower your hand.”
Inuyasha and Kagome both held on tighter, staring into each other’s eyes as they spoke together. “We are both aware and willing.”
Inuyasha turned his attention to their clasped hands as Touga laid one of the satin cords, in a vibrant shade of forest green, across Inuyasha’s wrist. “This cord represents Kagome’s commitment and acceptance of Inuyasha in the union. Kagome, would you like to say a few words to Inuyasha?”
Kagome glanced at Touga, nodding slightly before turning and looking into the pools of melted honey that were Inuyasha’s eyes. “Inuyasha, we’ve been best friends for twenty-one years and you’ve been the love of my life for a dozen of those. That night when we were eight and you convinced me to sneak out of my house to watch the meteor storm with you, we both made a wish. And I think it’s finally time to share my wish with you; I wished for us to be able to stay together forever. My wish is coming true and that makes me the happiest-” The emotions clogged her throat and she covered her mouth with her free hand for a moment as she took a ragged breath. When Inuyasha squeezed her hand in support and encouragement she cleared her throat and looked back up to him with tear filled eyes. “The happiest person in the world. Inuyasha, I promise to always love and respect you. To support you and cherish you. And I promise to try to be everything to you that you have always been to me.”
Kagome looked to the side as Sango stepped up beside her, offering up Inuyasha’s ring on the palm of her hand. It hadn’t been hard to figure out a way to mix the traditional handfasting with the modern wedding ceremony. Taking the ring in her left hand, she turned back to Inuyasha as he offered his left to her underneath their clasped hands. As she slid the cool platinum band onto his finger he kept his gaze on her face, and when her watery eyes flicked back up and meet his, he mouthed ‘I love you,’ and she beamed, the motion spilling her tears out of the corners of her eyes to track down her cheeks.
Touga laid the crimson satin cord across Kagome’s wrist. “This cord represents Inuyasha’s commitment and acceptance of Kagome in the union. Inuyasha, a few words?”
Inuyasha took in a deep breath, he had written vows but they seemed a cheap imitation to what he knew his heart wanted to say. The breath he had been holding came out shakily as he slowly released it. He had so much he wanted to say and he was afraid he’d say it wrong. She had said such wonderful things that caused a warmth to bloom in his chest and he was the one that always fumbled for the right thing to say when it mattered most.
But he knew. He knew.
That no matter what he said in this moment, Kagome would know. She would know what he was trying to say, what he wanted to convey, what was in his heart. She always knew, she always understood, she knew him better than he knew himself.
“Kagome, you have been my entire focus and ever present constant since I looked out the window twenty years ago and saw a little girl fierce in her determination to make it from the car to the house on her own. I think even then I knew, I sensed something within me reaching out to you, urging me to befriend you, protect you, love you. I’m happy with the man I’ve become and that’s all because of you; because of your gentle hand and your guiding words. The strength and kindness of your heart never ceases to amaze me. I strive to be as good to you as you have always been to me. I promise to be your guiding light in the darkness, a warming comfort in the cold, and a shoulder to lean on when life is too much to bare on your own.”
Inuyasha looked down as a hand appeared at his side, Kagome’s delicate rose gold band lay on Miroku’s open hand. Inuyasha plucked the ring off his friend’s palm, mindful of his claws. When he turned back to Kagome she had more tears on her cheeks but her smile was dazzling, warm, accepting, and happy. Her offered left hand was already waiting for him, as he slid the ring onto her finger, he felt the youkai within him sturing. The need to throw her over his shoulder and carry her away from prying eyes and finally claim her as his mate washed through him with such force that he had a hard time resisting. But when his father began speaking again, he tried to tamp down even harder on the urge, knowing that later that night, Kagome would be his in every way possible.
“This cord represents their union, the joining of not only Inuyasha and Kagome but of each side’s family coming together.” Touga draped the gold cord across the top of their joined hands before moving both the other cords up to rest alongside it. “Today on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other forever, you are holding the hand of your best friend. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you built your future.”
He spoke as he held one side of the strands steady in one hand and began to wrap the other side around it. “These are the hands that will love you and cherish you through the years. These are the hands that will celebrate with you when you feel happy and comfort you when you feel sad.” He tucked one side under the other, pulling to form the knot on top of their clasped hands. One end of the cords dangling down on each side of their hands. “These are the hands that will give you strength and support whenever you need it. As your hands are joined together now, so your hearts will always be.”
Inuyasha and Kagome each took hold of one of the ends of cords, making sure to maintain eye contact. Slowly, they slid their clasped hands along each other’s as they separated them, pulling on the cord ends at the same time. When their hands fell free, the cords came together, forming a tight infinity knot.
Totosai stepped up beside Touga. “By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Using the cord as leverage, Inuyasha wasted no time in yanking it, pulling Kagome towards him, wrapping his free arm around her waist and crushing her to him. Still maintaining his hold on their cord he pressed his lips to hers. He’d kissed her countless times before, but the tingle of blissful tranquility that flowed through him felt new in a way he could not describe. He moaned slightly at the feeling, deepening the kiss. Stroking his tongue across her lower lip before dipping it inside her parted lips.
Only when he let out a low possessive growl did he remember the crowd; pulling away just enough so their lips were still touching.
“I love you.” He whispered against her lips.
“I love you, too.”
It was only then that he heard the crowd, they were all cheering and clapping, some rising from their seats. Inuyasha took Kagome’s end of the cords from her, turning and handing the knot over to his father.
“Guard this for us till later?”
Touga nodded, accepting the duty.
With a large grin Inuyasha tucked Kagome’s arm in the crook of his elbow, beginning to lead her away from their position at the front and down the aisle. His eyes were fixed on his luminous mate even as she watched the crowd, a shy but ecstatic smile on her face. There were a few clicks and flashes of cameras going off but Inuyasha’s attention never wavered. Flower petals rained down upon them, creating a lovely effect but other than causing Inuyasha to blink more often as sone petals hit his face, he never looked away.
When they reached the end of the aisle, he scooped Kagome up into his arms and quickly dashed off, looking for a place where they could extract a couple of quiet moments to themselves and bask in the joy they were feeling.
