just because it's not important to you...do you even know the value of what you hold in your hands? you're telling me that you have NO FEWER THAN 600 PAGES of trans research done in the 1950s and you're just sitting on it?!

I've been thinking a lot about stories where transformation into something monstrous is seen as something appealing. Even if it wasn't necessarily the intent, that's how people have latched onto it.
Daemon Princes in 40k, Dungeon Meshi with Chimera Falin, Vampires and Werewolves, hell there's a whole line of wildly successful dolls for little girls to identify with monsters.
And while this is certainly an open-ended concept that people can click with for literally millions of reasons like "shit rocks", I think part of the appeal is the honesty.
Are you angry? Do you have violent thoughts? Are you a sadist? Do you wish you could be powerful? Wouldn't you like to be bigger and stronger than your boss, or your bully, or your abusive parents, or whoever it is you want to get out from under? Wouldn't you like to live a life where you're powerful enough to do whatever you want, and no one can stop you?
Most people that experience these things never get any kind of release, any way to vent their feelings in a meaningful way. And I think a fantasy where they can let go, where they can let their intrusive thoughts win, or where they can be free from the power dynamics of their life makes it much more compelling.
Also the monster fuckers, but maybe this too.

i know this is a long shot because i remember little and i'm pretty sure i've asked before and no one knew what book i was talking about but does anyone know a book that:
came out 10+ years ago
aimed at SOMEWHERE in the 8-15yo range (i realize this is a big range, but i don't remember when i read it, just that it was in the childrens section).
is a werewolf book but there's very little werewolf in it (do you know how hard it is to find a specific, non-popular childrens/pre-teen barely-werewolf book. google does not like it)
the setting is vaguely medieval/generic fantasy although i dont remember there being much fantasy outside of werewolves. maybe some alchemy? i really dont think magic obviously existed for much of the story
the main character is a girl (Also in the 8-15 range i would guess) who is living with a family that isn't her exact birth family (stepmom, grandparents, orphan taken in, i dont remember but it was something like that) and it isn't Great but mostly because they're poor and she's the weak link i think
for some reason she gets taken to a quarry and i remember it being her family's fault. like they didn't protect her from the working draft, did it to pay off their debts, etc. she's forced to work but makes friends with the other workers and i think she ends up seeming unusual in some way (strength to work when grown men cant, healing and recovering, etc. a plague sweeps through and she's fine and it's suspicious) there.
somehow she ends going from there to the palace. i remember her having some tie with the royal family but i think she also might have just befriended their daughter or something.
she was on the run either on the way to the palace or afterwards. she hid in a barn or under a trapdoor or something
here's the distinct part: that book ends with her in the woods, discovering she's a werewolf with the help of other wolf(ves). she has an injury at the base of her neck where the hair has grown back pure white (a sign of werewolfism???)
i feel like it was setting up for a sequel but have no idea if that ever happened. a few Extremely sparse details of this book have been burned in the back of my mind for like fifteen years and i have no clue what the fuck it was. any parts of this could be incorrect/missing because ive remembered this so many times off and on over the years that idk what parts are real or my brain filling in the gaps. i might be combining two books honestly but i dont think i am.
like i feel like her birth parent(s) (maybe just one) were wolves in the woods that she didnt know were werewolves, she started showing signs of being supernatural in the quarry, someone (rasputin-ish) kind of recognized that in her and had her brought to the palace to more carefully study (unbeknownst to her, to a certain degree), she became really good friends with a noble lady there her age, discovered her family might have ties to the royal one, but was still essentially a prisoner. one night she tried to sneak out and the princess(?) caught her but then ended up covering her ass so she could climb the wall and went on the run. she hid in a barn at one point, was discovered by a family and hid from the same kind of patrol that took her to the quarry. somehow she ended up injured, limping into the woods, where she discovered she was a werewolf. and then the book ended. but that sounds so inexplicable i feel like half of it has to be wrong! so i really want to find this book again but i cant figure out what to even google to find this weird fucking story again and i would feel like a lunatic going back to my childhood library 15 years later or whatever and trying to describe this fever dream to them.

this is so funny to me okay so the timeline goes
Several years ago in my desperately wanting to be a werewolf phase I looked at like one or two pages of the first chapter of the glass scientists but it had literally just started and hadn't gotten past chapter two and I was. A child. So I ended up like of dropping it
Fast forward several years later...
I'm looking at random tv tropes articles and there's one with a picture of a girl with a skeleton hand
I reverse image search it and one of the suggested images is a panel from chapter one of tgs
flashback.jpg
I binge the entire comic in a single day and buy volume one immediately
edward hyde and associates sink their grubby little paws into my brain
and today I just spend twenty one pounds on a copy of the two main source materials (j&h and frankenstein) and a copy of the jekyll and hyde OBCR and a copy of the original studio cast recording which had to come over the sea from TEXAS

SHOWS: teen wolf (2011-2017), wolfblood (2012-2017)
MOVIES: an american werewolf in london (1981)* , werewolves within (2021), wolfwalkers (2020)*, viking wolf/vikingulven (2022), silver bullet (1985), ginger snaps (2000)*, wolf children (2012)*, dog soldiers (2002)
BOOKS: lycanthropy and other chronic illnesses by kristen o'neal*, rules for werewolves by kirk lynn*
also worth noting are the werewolf pride movement by caitlyn b. giacopasi and the werewolf: past and future by maegan a. stebbins which are much more like theses than media, but great reads if you want really awesome historical analysis of werewolves

nyx your tags 🤭 I need werewolf Toji in a way I can't explain. He lives free in my mind. Thank you so much for reading, love, especially you and how precious I know Toji is to you, I'm so glad you liked it
OMG not to be insane about it but I literally read it and my brain stopped working for like two hours. Like I needed to stare at the wall and piece my psyche back together bc I was like. Damn. I'm never gonna be a slutty little bunny on Toji's doorstep. I went through all five stages of grief about it lol

The ST boys as werewolves.
So forever ago I posted about Harringrovson werewolf headcanons. I drew them up based off those pictures but in my style. Not sure how satisfied I am yet w/ the designs (especially Eddie's). But before I actually do like dynamic poses and stuff I like to have color and pattern references. So at least that's done now.
(Me realizing I posted the one without my signature lol 😆 oh well)

Hi there! Popping in to say hi, Athena here. How are you, how's things going and do you wanna share any interestingly trivia about a character/and or WIP?
Hi! Since you've given me the opportunity, I feel like I haven't really talked enough about the folklore inspirations behind Werewolves Don't Wear Clothes. I'm kinda worried that I'll mislead people if they expect a serious take on the lore, but it nevertheless is a big part of my inspiration.
My villainess, for instance, is named Madelaine Corriveau. This is in reference to La Corriveau, a witch from Quebec folklore. According to legend, she killed seven husbands before finally being put to death for murder. As part of her punishment, the authorities hung her body up on display in a cage, but one day she and the cage went missing. Ever since, La Corriveau hangs out in cemeteries and eats wandering children or hitches a ride on the backs of travellers who fall asleep at the side of the road.
The most interesting part is that the myth of La Corriveau actually grew out of a real historical event. A woman named Marie-Josephte Corriveau was tried and executed for the murder of her second husband, and her body really was hung in a cage as part of her punishment. (This was one of the first murder trials the then-new British government oversaw.) From a modern viewpoint, it's pretty unclear if she actually murdered her second husband, but she definitely didn't kill her first. I made sure Madelaine's first name was different out of respect for the real woman; I wanted to make clear that Madelaine is intended to reference the fictional figure, and not the historical one.

The Crimson Mare & Boulangerie Colmar - a cc lot by moonwoodhollow
It's finally time for another lot! I feel like I've been teasing this one for far too long, but it's here now and that's all that matters!
The Crimson Mare & Boulangerie Colmar is a bar and boulangerie/café that works gameplay-wise as both a bar and a café and is best placed in Britechester. I've wanted a really nice pub feeling for The Crimson Mare and I hope I succeeded in making it ~classy~, yet also cool enough for university students to visit and have a drink with friends. Boulangerie Colmar is partially inspired by some boulangeries I've visited over the years in France and Southern Germany, it has a lot of charm and is the perfect place to meet for a coffee date or with friends to study gossip.
This is also A BIG THANK YOU to all you lovely people on simblr for being the reason I had the best 1st simblr anniversary ❤️
More screenshots, info + download link under the cut!
So what do you get?
The Crimson Mare is a 20x20 lot best placed in Britechester on the Pepper's Pub lot. The building is mostly furnished, meaning only the ground and 1st floors are fully furnished, while the others are empty. It's also been playtested.
The left/corner building is The Crimson Mare - a long-established pub loved by students of Britechester University and residents of the town alike and the building on the right is the Boulangerie Colmar, a café in which your sims feel as if they're in a cute street café in France.
If you want you could add a flat above the café for a sim who'd have it as their own business, or maybe just for storytelling purposes! (just an idea btw)
