Elton John Says There’s “Lots to Come” after Five-year Farewell Tour Finale
- “While this tour may mark the closing of one chapter, it signals the beginning of a new one,” he says
Elton John’s five-year, 330-show farewell tour is finished. But John, in a letter to fans, says he is not.
“While this tour may mark the closing of one chapter, it signals the beginning of a new one,” John said.
“I want to let you know that there is lots to come, so stay tuned for new surprises along the way. … Your commitment has been remarkable, and I am excited to embark on this next adventure with all of you by my side.”
John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour wrapped July 8 in Sweden with the almost-titular “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” becoming the final number of his 50-plus-years touring career.
In his missive, John thanked fans for attending concerts, singing songs, donning “feather boa(s) and … sparkling outfit(s)” and creating “a legacy that will be talked about for generations.
“So let's bid adieu to this tour with a standing ovation and a promise to meet again soon, ready to embark on the next fabulous chapter,” he said.

Chris Skelton
My Head cannons (Spoilers Below)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fb72c59d7e456019c83e95a03d31227a/af4b97b4b3a522e7-94/s540x810/814c0d7fb27c755b952ffc867d25c9894b7db2d1.jpg)
- Although Chris lost his dad very young, he was always surrounded by Aunts, Uncle and Cousins. He and his sister never doubted that they had a loving family.
- Due to the loss of his dad, Chris found it hard to make friends at school and as a result spent a lot of time alone or with his sister, especially when carnivals came to Manchester.
- Music was very influential to him, it helped him escape from things that happened and helped his loneliness.
- Despite it making him “soft” in the eyes of his fellow officers, Chris really believed in soul mates he knew that somewhere out there, there was a girl who would love him for who he was. Unconditionally.
- Despite never owning a pet growing up, Chris had a real gift with animals, especially dogs, before his untimely death there was talk of moving Chris to work more closely with training dogs.
-As he and Annie both grew up in the 50s and 60s when they met they formed a strong bond, and were actually very close (if I’d written the show they’d have been besties)
Favourite Songs
Daydream Believer - The Monkees
Space Oddity - David Bowie
You Really Got Me - The Kinks
Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
Hey Jude - The Beatles
-Due to the circumstances he grew up in, he didn’t go to the cinema very often but as he got older he went more, often taking girlfriends. He saw the following films
The Great Gatsby (1974)
The Three Musketeers (1973)
Swallows an amazons (making the list as he took his nephew to see it)
- He had never really thought about dating anyone other than women until he met Sam Tyler, but even then, it was a far away, unreachable crush.
- He was desperate to become a dad, but also scared of what would happen to his children if something were to happen to him.

My Music for March 2023
Dear Tumblr,
They don’t call it March Madness for no reason, believe me this month was complete and utter madness. I went through a whirlwind of emotions. It was really the passing of my grandma that caught my family and me off guard. No one thought she would be taken out from under us, in a brief moment it happened so fast and at that moment her heart gave out. I couldn't believe it and I’m still in shock. My grandma was very dear to me and I’ve been grieving and going through the motions of her loss. The music I have been listening to has been very therapeutic and has brought that healing feeling I’ve been aligning to. I wasn’t joking when I mentioned in a previous blog that the leading ladies were back at it again. With Kali Uchis and Lana Del Rey both dropping their albums in March, the Top Songs for 3.2023 playlist on Spotify is lit and jammed packed with new music that was released this month among other songs I fell in love with while listening to my Spotify Discover Weekly. Shout out to Kali Uchis for putting her whole love and couchie in Red moon In Venus. Shout out to Princess Nokia for “i love you but this is goodbye” the album that brought closure to that situation that you didn’t think you needed. Last but not least, shout out to the Queen and mother to us all Lana Del Rey. The song Grants couldn’t have come at a better time in my life. The lyrics hit close to home. The lyric in particular, “My grandmother’s last smile I’m gonna take that too with me It’s a beautiful life” It’s these music synchronicities that tell me everything is going to be okay. The reason why I take time to share the music is important because you don’t know how impactful a song can be to a person who can relate to the music or feel understood in the poetry of that artist. Anyways here is the link for March music on Spotify:

Show #1
Title: The Supreme Yellow Brick Moon Edition
Release Date: April 28, 2021
I want to be embarrassed by this show, but there are some rather good takeaways. The sound is not horrible as I would have thought, although once I introduce the third person, the mixes get a little rougher. Dave is not here (insert your own Cheech and Chong joke), and this is really the start of what would become Musical Shenanigans.
The whole WQRZ thing dates back to 2020 when I was hosting a "radio station" over Teams at work. We had all been home for longer than the planned two weeks after Friday March, 13, 2020 when the world shut down (and most of us are still working remotely). I got bored and started playing around with Audacity, mixing in songs, and doing something of a morning show, hence the Cory in the Morning moniker that hopefully disappears on this podcast. I did manage to get a spot on the local news for bringing music and laughs to my coworkers - and honestly, it was only about thirty people, as it was kept inside our department. I did different themes for each show and played music. An mp3 file was delivered through Teams on the mornings I had time to drop them, and a good time was had by all. So there is the WQRZ back story. It is long gone, but it served its purpose well, and may it rest it in peace. There were some great bits on there, by the way.
Boudreau's Cajun Fryer is one of the bits that came from the WQRZ days. I was having too much fun with creating different voices and characters and every show needs a commercial, right? Right? So, I created these fake commercials, and some even had elongated and protracted back stories - I was also adjusting to a world that was literally shutdown and adjusting to being in the house with the same people day after day after day after day. But, a lot of quality time with my kids came out of it, and for that, I am a little thankful.
Otherwise, on this show, Scott and I went through these picks way too fast. This was clearly early in the development of what is Musical Shenanigans today, but we had to start somewhere. And there is the back story of how Scott became the "O" in HELP!
The Albums, as described by ChatGPT
"The Supremes Anthology" is a compilation album by The Supremes, an American female singing group active from 1959 to 1977. The album features a selection of the group's most popular songs, including "Baby Love," "Stop! In the Name of Love," and "You Can't Hurry Love." The tracks showcase The Supremes' signature Motown sound and the powerful vocals of lead singer Diana Ross. This album is a comprehensive collection of some of the greatest hits from The Supremes and is considered an essential addition to any Motown or classic pop music library.
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is a critically acclaimed album by English singer-songwriter Elton John, released in 1973. The album features some of Elton John's most famous songs, including the title track, "Bennie and the Jets," and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting." With its blend of rock, pop, and theatrical elements, the album showcases Elton John's unique style and musical talent. The lyrics often have a nostalgic or introspective tone and are set to lush and ornate musical arrangements. The album was a commercial success and has since been regarded as one of Elton John's best works. It remains a staple of classic rock radio and is widely considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time.
"The Dark Side of the Moon" is a groundbreaking album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released in 1973. It is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time and has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. The album is a concept album that explores themes of life, death, time, and human emotion, using a combination of rock, blues, and experimental music. The songs are linked by atmospheric sound effects, spoken word samples, and instrumentals, creating a cohesive and immersive listening experience. The album's iconic cover art, designed by Storm Thorgerson and Hipgnosis, adds to its mystique. "The Dark Side of the Moon" remains Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and is considered a classic of progressive rock music.

Elton John says 'there's not much of me left' after health issues

Elton John has joked that “there’s not much” of him left after health issues and various surgeries over the years.
The 77-year-old music icon retired from touring in 2023 after his epic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road world tour, which started in 2018.
A new documentary Never Too Late is looking back on his 50-year career. Elton John got candid at a screening of the movie at the New York Film Festival, ahead of the film’s release on Disney+ in December.
“To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left,” he said.
“I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.
“But I’m still here. And I thank you, you’re the people that made me.”
youtube
Elton John said hubby David Furnish and their sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, make him “the happiest man in the world.”
“I found complete and utter happiness and bliss when I met David, and when I had my children, our children,” Elton said.
“And it satisfied me so much. I’ve never felt happiness like I have now.
“As you know, I decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years of age. I’ve done all there is to do, to play. I’ve succeeded, I’ve been there and I’ve done it.
“I’ve still got to make room because I’m still going to have music in my life.
“But the most important thing in my life are David, Zachary and Elijah and my family and my friends. I found utopia, and I’m so thrilled.”
Elton John: Never Too Late
The new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late follows the music icon as he looks back on his 50-year career during his last US stadium show in Los Angeles in late 2022.
The documentary charts his rise to fame as well as the dark times in his life, his struggles with drug addiction and the road back to sobriety.
“At that time, there was an emptiness within me. My soul had gone dark, I had gone dark. I wasn’t a joy to be around. I didn’t have anything apart from my success and my drugs,” Elton says in the film.
In August, Elton celebrated 34 years of sobriety. He shared a photo of his Alcoholics Anonymous coin, and said his “life has never been better”.
Earlier in the year, Elton’s friend and co-writer Bernie Taupin revealed that Elton’s 32nd studio album is “all done and recorded”.
Elton John: Never Too Late is streaming in Australia on Disney+ on December 13.
