I miss Toy Soldiers something fierce and I was wondering if you would teaser a snippet or two of Mare being the sweet baddie that’s mildly oblivious to Logan’s attentions and quirks as her unwitting cohabitant. Because oh my heavens, I am dying for that oblivious “and they were roommates” trope and because your writing styles are amazing, both your original and the more recent style 💕💕💕.

Did you by chance read the drabble that kicked off Toy Soldiers? 👀

When I originally wrote He's Not You it was just an idea I had in my head about Worst Logan ending up in the real world with reader and fighting tooth and nail to arrange her "just one chance" moment with Hugh Jackman, because she's always dreamed of working in film.

Shortly after I published that fic, I found my little Wolverine figure at the thrift store and took him home with me, and that's where TS started. It flowed so seamlessly with the idea of He's Not You, so eventually, she *will* choose Logan over Hugh Jackman, and get the best of both worlds. 🤭

There's a lot to unpack along the way, though! She's so oblivious it's painful.

As for a scene that lives rent free in my head —

"—yes, hi. Sorry to interrupt...whatever this is, but— I'm going to borrow him for a second, if that's alright?" Her forced Chesire smile is sharp, almost cutting to her molars while threatening to split skin. Grabbing his arm, she puts effort into hauling him up from the couch. Shoves him towards the linoleum of the kitchen with a growling, "Can I talk with you for a second?" Rolling his eyes, Logan shifts his shoulders beneath the jacket he hasn't shed since plunking on her sectional. "For fuck's sake, bub —" Her finger waves in his face. "—language. What the heck are you doing? I thought if you're gonna slut around, we were going with the 'less is more' approach," hands landing on her hips, her frown exaggerates, "as in, the less I know is more than enough when it comes to details of your sex life!" Scoffing with a low chuckle, the muscle in his jaw ticks with amusement. "Calm down, sister Christian," he rolls his eyes, arms crossing over his chest, "just met her at the bar around the corner. Didn't expect you to be back." Her look of surprise is real, genuine. Like he'd smacked her across her face. "Hello? Did you forget who you're talking to? You think I developed some type of life in the last eight hours I've been at work?" Resentment bites like a dog behind her words, and her hand flaps in a wild gesture towards his date, who is studying the Val Kilmer print hanging on the wall near her desk. Sighing, she considers the stranger and her hand slaps to her thigh. Shoulders slump forward; resignation hangs off the extra breath she offloads. "Honestly, Logan, I'm not your priest, but — a new girl? Every weekend? What happened to what's-her-face; with the cute glasses and the long hair?" Taking a pause has never felt so eternal. His lungs manage to burn as he sucks in a quick breath, eyes holding the curious look she levels on him. There's a few ways to answer this question. What he should say and what he's willing to are immensely different positions. Telling her how he feels, completely ridiculous — you don't just tell someone you've been craving the taste of them for months just out of nowhere and with this kind of context. It's never been acceptable, in any of the lifetimes he's waded through. Could laugh it off and tell her to buzz off, get stuffed, but knowing her, that's shit on the fan. And she totally misses the fact that what's-her-face, with the cute glasses and long hair, is as close to her that he can ever indulge. Can't bring himself to upend whatever the hell is that they have between them in this little apartment in the sky. Because he needs the little way she makes coffee in the morning, humming out of tune oldies that transport him back to the better days. How they argue about sorting laundry. The way he isn't bothered by the hair she leaves behind in the shower on the walls, or how she wants to rearrange furniture every weekend. Or, the fact she loves the thrift store and doesn't find anything wrong with wearing secondhand socks. No, he can't tell her what's truly eating him from the inside of his adamantium bones. Not really. That would wreck everything, and he'd already ruined everything in one universe. Gutted the lives of everyone he'd cared about. And Logan isn't all that willing to mark her name to his running list of regrets.

Hopefully that helps ease the ache a little!? I just love them so much. 😭😭😭

The wildest thing about getting to take a photo with Tom is that it didn't feel quite real, like he wasn't a real person standing there in front of me that I was about to be right next to. I partially attribute that to how fast the line was going, but even if I had a bit more time to process, I surely would have felt the same: that a man whose life, basically, I had been following since 2013, was in the same room as me and I was mere feet away.

I was lightheaded in the moments prior to the photo, although whether due to being hungry and needed water or overwhelmed suddenly despite not feeling it before (and thrown off by the girl in front of me trying to hold a brief conversation and the crew trying to escort her away), I'm not sure. I do wonder how Tom feels about the whole thing, about how fast it went.

We greeted each other, I got to shake his hand (his hand really is big, much larger than I expected, yet when he shook mine, it didn't feel overwhelming, and he didn't crush me), he put his arm behind me and mine behind him (his coat was quite soft; my mom speculated it's a nice/fancy wool), we smiled, FLASH, I thanked him (I can't recall if he thanked me), and off I went.

While fast, definitely 100% worth it. I've never had the chance to go anywhere else he's been due to time and money, but this time, the stars aligned.

I was lucky enough to have enough income to be able to do that plus get better seating for the live show, which was also definitely worth it; I wasn't as close as I would have liked, but better than higher up—and the general seating filled up really fast, so much so that when it got delayed due to autographs (I get the sense they overbooked him, because he had to go BACK after it was done), they told us not to leave the theatre because so many people couldn't get in.

Anyway, I absolutely loved being able to hear him talk in person, and he told pretty much all new stories this time! At least, new to me, but I'm pretty sure most of them had not been told before, probably because the audience got to ask the questions (using a Google forms from the week before that was only open for twenty-four hours AND I MISSED—and they had apparently 84 questions?? Surely they could have left that open longer, then).

I really hope I get the opportunity to see him in person again in some form or fashion; i.e. I'd probably do an autograph, or if he's got enough live event, just pay for good seating for that. I don't know if I'll get so lucky a second time, and I will definitely cherish this for a long while.

kingdom hearts 3 has been a lot of things so far but nothing compares to the sheer rush of emotions i got when 1) i realized demyx and ienzo were going to interact in this game 2) ienzo is dELIGHTED to see demyx and demyx is outright FLIRTATIOUS with ienzo in a way he hasn't ever been with any other character!??!??!?
