What are their top video games?

-mha version. Pt.1

-characters: tenya iida, izuku midoriya, Rikido Sato, Tsuyu Asui, Eijiro Kirishima, Denki Kaminari

- this is my take on things. And my opinion. It’s not canon (kinda in my head) but don’t come after me! And if you have other ideas I would love to hear them!!

- I will be doing other fandoms and characters! Let me know if you want any characters!!

Lets start.

Tenya Iida

He is a big enjoyed of candy crush and you can’t tell me anything else against that. I don’t see him having games on his computer or almost anything, so he plays mostly on his phone. I have a feeling he actually can’t stop and he is so embarrassed over it. Come on? Man is waiting for the new levels every time.

Tetris? A thing for his brain to work and does it kinda fast. He has high scores. MAN IS A BEAST- and when he fails he will get so frustrated and get mad….someone take his phone away please.

Super Mario is a childhood game but he still has it on something. Like a old nintendo, old ds and stuff. He plays it sometimes. And the only thing I see him having new gaming devices wise is a switch, and only has Mario games and plays it only each few mounts.

Izuku Midoriya

Planet zoo I can’t really explain but it’s just feels so right. I think he’s a pro at it. I really wish i could explain why I feel this way….Please tell me you see it to?

Fortnite he only plays with his friends but it’s so often. He does love the game a lot, even has a skin of himself in the game. And he has merch. He just loves to laugh with his friends and vibe. Has never raged quit.

Minecraft….Do I have to explain it? He’s wholesome, the games wholesome. It’s a match. Deku has so many hours it probably scares people. He’s obsessed!!! Mention you found diamonds and he’ll flip.

Rikido Sato

Unraveled is a childhood favorite of mine and I see him playing it for the same reasons. It’s chill but makes the brain think. I think he would love it.

Cooking simulators. This is not just for the meme. Tell me why I think he would rage so much to this because of the controls being whack. If he wasn’t a hero he would own his own restaurant/bakery.

Apex legends- HAVE NO IDEA WHY I THINK THIS. I know nothing about this game. I think he would play a shooter, and he gives apex vibes.

Tsuyu Asui

She’s plays game for chill vibes and vibes only.

Animal crossing?! One of the best games ever. She loves to decorate her island and go villager hunting. Has the best island out of the whole class. (Has many frog villagers)

Minecraft, 100# loves to vibe to the music. She plays with izu a lot too, the whole group. And she’s like the camp mom? Makes sure things are organized and she builds a whole ass city.

Stardew valley….One of the best games ever made again. Farmer Tsu!! She is the person who takes her time and doesn’t stress about anything, she knows everything without the wiki- but she could speed run the whole game so fast.

Eijiro Kirishima

Fortnite bro. Spends so much time on there is so embarrassing. The type of friend to beg his friends to play with him when the say no. He is that guy who doesn’t get up from his seat for hours to play this damn game. Headset, talking to everyone. Random people? He’s befriending them all.

Medieval dynasty is a good game. I see him enjoying building a city up from nothing, he is the type of guy I see. It’s relaxing.

Animal crossing fan and he has no shame. He loves this game so much. Decorates his island. Be proud of him even tho it sucks, but he’s so proud of himself (I relate) and keeps a streak of checking in every day.

Denki Kaminari

HE HAS ALL THE DAMN GAMES!! He talks shit every match. Has fought a child and made them cry (then got his ass handed to him) and I stand by this. He is good at the game, but also then sucks so bad.

Fortnite, yes other shooters because I believe he loves them. But likes to play with the boyz mostly, kiris main bestie in this game because they both are annoying the others.

Minecraft…yes this is getting used a lot but it’s a amazing game. Turns his music down because he’s either falling asleep or crying for questioning his existence. MINING!! He spends so much time mining it’s like he never goes to the surface.

yandere simulator ramble (mostly ab ayano)

see my thing is with yandere sim obviously there are a bunch of problems from alex himself being the developer, the panty shots in the game (because even tho it's used as blackmail with info-chan and sold to those who want it or wtv there could be a way easier way to blackmail the girls for points), the depiction that the bullies are gyaru giving the impression most gyaru's are mean/bullies, the fact that oh everyone is 18 even though they clearly arent?? amongst other things

yet even then there's something still addicting about the game especially with ayano being a yandere, or to consider: someone with obsessive love disorder (the highest 'level' or intensity of this). even then, although obviously everyone in the aishi family just has to be a yandere, it was gonna be obvious that ayano was gonna be one too right?

First Part: Emotions

ryoba fed into the mindset that ayano needed that special someone to be complete so she could finally feel something and she's 'reassuring' ayano that she, ryoba, was the same way when she was younger as well until she found jokichi. ayano, as a child, knew something was wrong with her. there is no doubt that something continues to be wrong with her especially after her own mother teaches her to get rid of blood to use it later to "get rid of future obstacles." Obstacles which refer to the rivals; rivals who are just girls that have a crush on taro (minus muja kina and mida rana because theyre just creeps i fear). even so ryoba's words lingered in ayano's mind. that was ayano's reason to live - something to look for. which btw is kinda fucked up cause she's a child thinking this but also fair anyway,,

Jokichi has attempted to make ayano's life better. he has tried to be a good father; he has tried to be the best that he can be in order to make his daughter feel normal. but with how ayano is - how she is broken from the start - it was impossible. it didn't help that ryoba encouraged the behaviour almost, saying she was exactly the same as ayano AND how she wasn't worried at all. jokichi didn't like that but ayano is nothing but an empty girl. however, what i find interesting is that she felt pity for her father. despite everything she felt pity, and that!! is an emotion!! why i find this interesting is how she can feel something for someone else but not for herself. as a result of her pity, she began to act like other children pretending to be normal and happy for jokichi, despite how she knew that he didnt really believe her happiness himself.

and then!! ayano began to pretend all the time. to stop the bullying, to fit in with everyone because it was simply more convenient even if ayano didn't really care if it happened or not. she had friends (though she didnt care about them) and she had a routine established by pretending all the time. she grew resentful of being 'broken'. as funny as that is because she was supposed to broken, yet, she felt emotions to a mild degree. resentment (some might also say bitterness) is like more complex emotion rather than your typical joy sadness etc but it's still an emotion. and ayano WANTS to feel and have emotions anyway. she craves it, ayano longs to feel, its almost painful itself because she can't experience it to a high degree. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!! as small as it is she's felt emotion: she's felt pity and bitterness and she wants and wants and thats so interesting. what's even more interesting is her length to have emotions. in her lore video, she is seen killing a cat to see if she felt something like guilty or remorse but nothing happened. this is where it (chronologcally) is seen that ayano is willing to do extreme things to see if she could feel something, so it's not a surprise when she's willing to kill her 'rivals' to keep taro.

now ayano is described as someone who has no personality, no hobbies, no true friends, nothing, just an empty husk of a person. however, when she meets taro that changes drastically. she has clearer and obvious emotions; she finally has the feelings she always wanted. although, i believe that she wouldn't react to having feelings the best especially after finding osana talking to taro etc etc. if you lived your entire life having no emotions (not any major or obvious ones anyway) until you find your someone (someone who you've been dreaming of, waiting for, needing) and all the emotions finally comes crashing down all at once,, don't you think you'd be more than a bit overwhelmed? she's been missing out on all the sensations people had since birth. she's always felt incomplete and then all of a sudden she meets taro and it fits like a missing puzzle piece finally being placed down. it was clear that taro made her feel happy, wanting love and all positive emotions. although, now that she has emotions: she's going to have to experience the 'bad' ones too. she'll experience anger, annoyance, fear, anxiety, jealousy, desperation, envy, hatred etc etc.

as soon as she sees osana talk to taro yeah you can tell she feels all the negative emotions all at once. she finally has emotions, she finally can experience what everyone else takes for granted, but osana comes in and threatens her. osana talks to taro, has a crush on him, and that sends a spike of fear and anger through ayano because ayano should not be stripped away of her newly found emotions. she needs the emotions. and as a result she needs taro because he is the one allowing her to feel this way. she's in love with the emotions. it's not love that she has for taro, not really, but she is obsessed. she has the overwhelming obsessive desire to protect and possess taro (which is literally the description of obsessive love disorder). she needs taro like how she needs air now that she's met him.

as i said like 3 paragraphs above she's going to be overwhelmed, like it or not, and whenever people are overwhelmed they tend to take an unnecessarily drastic and extreme path because when you're overwhelmed you aren't in the best mindset. ayano is still a human even if she was "broken" before. she makes mistakes and she's going to be overwhelmed by her emotions for a while especially because she feels like she's is almost dead when she's not near taro. taro is a trigger for her essentially. when he's near, the overwhelming feelings all come back. she felt dead before, now she doesn't and these feelings repeat over and over every time she's away from taro and when she goes near him again.

on another note, although ayano "has" taro currently, (in the sense she knows where he is, he's just in her reach and he's so close to being hers; the only thing stopping that is that he doesn't know completely acknowledges her, AND there are her 'rivals') she still feels broken and incomplete when not near him as mentioned. yet, this incomplete feeling hurts MORE because she knows who her someone is. im going to bring up the fact that ryoba and jokichi went to the states for a 'vacation' (to kill the journalist) without warning. i find it interesting because ayano is most likely to experience negative emotions more intensely than before. taro has brought the emotions to light so i believe she still feels them when she's not near him but it's so mild that it's barely there. despite that, there is no doubt that negative emotions are easier to feel. ayano was shown to be angry that osana has a crush on taro (and she wasn't near taro at the time) after finding out from info chan in the opening cutscene,, in fact she was at home meaning she was not close to taro at all. as i mentioned before though taro is almost like a trigger so its most likely just that. but even then the intensity of negative emotions she could feel may be easier to give into. so.... going with an idea that they are easier to give into, it's easier to feel even when not around taro. i believe the feeling of loneliness is something that is practically overtaking ayano's very mind.

ayano has always been lonely, before she met taro and after. she's been lonely in the sense that she never had been able to connect with her peers on a genuine note. lonely in the sense that jokichi only worried about her wanting her to be normal and ryoba was the opposite, not worrying at all. lonely in the sense she always felt incomplete, lonely cause she knew she wasnt normal, lonely because she needed to be fixed, lonely because nobody other than her mother and all those who suffered from the "aishi conditon" would understand her. and even though those with the "aishi condition" would understand, most have already found their someone (or killed themselves, some have been hypothesized to live even without their special someone, yet, theres no canon proof of that i think) so they werent "broken" anymore. and speaking of the those finding their someone it is highly likely that ryoba devoted more of her time to jokichi than she did to ayano. the reason i believe this is because although ryoba has jokichi, she needs him to love her as well. gonna leave it there because i can make a whole different ramble on that alone but!!! ryoba and jokichi are away in the states currently. so if ayano did feel lonely before, she's going to feel lonely in that empty house. a house too big with your own thoughts, own freedom and doing whatever the hell you want. ryoba actively encouraged ayano to do whatever she needed to do to get rid of the 'obstacles' in her life if she found her special someone. its no surprise with the eliminations you can do one of them is torturing your rivals (or even just mind breaking a random student). (On a side note Japanese houses don't typically have built in basements so ryoba had to literally custom add that)

anyway I bring forth another thing: neglect. however I'm going to go into detail with this with the second part: OLD

Second Part: Obsessive Love Disorder

Obsessive Love Disorder is something that Ayano has. Obsessive Love Disorder as said earlier is a disorder where a person feels obsessive over another person and feels the need to protect them. this isn't really looked at as an 'actual' disorder to psychologist but i couldn't give two bare fucks about that. let's break it down with SOME of the symptoms of OLD:

overwhelming attention to someone

obsessive thoughts

feeling the need to protect the person you're in love with

possessive thoughts and actions

extreme jealousy over interpersonal relationships

low self-esteem

may not take rejection lightly/easily

ignoring personal boundaries

overly controlling

being overwhelmed with emotions about a person that is disrupts your daily function

threatening the other if they leave

monitoring the others actions

blurring or crossing boundaries

anxiety

inability to tolerate time away

most if not all of these things can be easily associated to ayano's behavior. ayano stalks taro, occasionally fantasizes that he kidnaps her, dislikes all the girls who try and talk to taro, wants him all to herself, feels dead when he's not near, follows him home so she can spend more time 'protecting' him, cannot see a life without him (evidenced by 'snap' ending as when she kills him, she kills herself not long after), her first interaction with him shows her finally feeling emotions and as i said she's going to feel overwhelmed with them, anger and anxiety that a 'rival' may be able to take taro away from her, based on ryoba where she tortured jokichi i doubt that ayano would take lightly is taro tried to leave her, finally rejection results in quite literally being heartbroken AND snap so it's obviously not taken easily nor lightly etc etc

anyway!! those are some examples that relate to the symptoms now here are two of the many causes.

some of y'all (if anyone reads this actually but the group council in my head will suffice) may not like this one but number 1 is neglect.

neglect is one of those things that can be in several forms. the more common forms would be emotional neglect (AND!! physical neglect), e.g. not telling your child you're leaving to go away to take care of some 'business' until you're already gone. (even worse when the business is to kill a man but yk). with this neglect you're emotionally unavailable (and in this case also physically). to understand better emotional neglect it is when a child does not receive the stimulation and nurturing they need. ayano has not received stimulation or the necessary nurturing from ryoba because ryoba fully heartedly believes that all ayano needs is that special someone. in a sense, she is right but she was actively neglecting ayano by not helping her instead just repeating that someone will come to complete and fix her. (it must be remembered that not all neglect is intentional, but it happens anyway) as said in the example it can also be physical neglect as ryoba left a teen all by herself in a house whilst indirectly promoting the use of the basement through vague post cards and childhood lessons.

(And yes! Encouraging negative behavior is neglect because you do not care what happens to those around you!)

another form of neglect that ayano experienced was medical neglect. this form of neglect isn't as obvious but can be picked up in ayano's lore video. at the very beginning, it is stated that her first memories are that of hospitals, doctors and everything medical wise. this was most definitely jokichi's work as the best ryoba has stated on the matter was how they were similar and how ayano will find her someone to complete her. now later (but before ayano pretends) the hospital etc weren't mentioned again. it can be thought and implied that ryoba decided it was a waste to focus medically on ayano because she'll simply find her someone to cure her later. this can be thought out to be medical neglect because there could've been a small chance if ayano kept doing, if she visited more happy places there's a possibility something could've changed. even then this neglect isn't so obvious so it's easy to ignore. to add on though teaching your child how to clean up blood for not so good reasons is encouraging negative behavior and could be a contribution to her messed up mindset.

another reason would be delusional jealousy. this is inhibited by an instance or things that are false. this delusional jealousy can also make one believe someone is in love with them even if there are obvious signs that is not the case.

okay for this reason I believe the delusion itself is fostered by the fact that ayano needs taro so she believes he must need her. it's a common mindset even without OLD that if someone needs something, others must need it too making possessiveness and jealousy to form. because the game isn't complete and is likely not going to be complete in the next decade, it's hard to tell if taro would actually like ayano as a genuine person. (and I would say that it's kind of obvious that he doesn't but in game taro is a pussy? if you even stand near him for more than 5 seconds he's like "oh she's strange" "stay back get away from me!!" even when ayano isn't doing anything?? like in game I wouldn't be close enough where the pink love thing pops up and taro would still be like "get away from me!!!") but if ayano hypothetically talked to him like all of her rivals, then taro would maybe like her.

once again these two are not the only ones that can be associated with ayano but these are the only ones I wanted to discuss.

anyway ending this section to go to the next important one!! drumroll... Pacifist vs Murderer

Third Part: The Endings

this is the third part of my rant that consists of pacifist ayano vs murderer ayano which could be "Good Ending" Ayano and "Bad Ending" Ayano.

starting off with something a good bunch of yan sim fans don't actually agree on is that pacifist ayano is a completely different person than murderer ayano.

and you might be thinking "wrap it up luca,, pacifist is different than a murderer no shit"

but really it's more than that. pacifist ayano is different because she actually truly expresses her emotions when she's a pacifist. even if you gossip about the rivals or expell them where they don't show up to school anymore, ayano can be seen as a person who expresses her emotions because she's so much more than a murderer. this is even more vividly seen if you befriend the rivals. once again this is based off the two rivals that are out, osana and amai. if you decide to befriend osana and she comes to your house in the morning, there is the infamous talk where osana talks about her stalker and how she can't believe that someone could fall in love without knowing them. this, to ayano and the player itself, can be associated with ayano herself especially considering how she 'loves' taro without knowing him and has stalked him. now when ayano decides not to betray osana, giving her normal tea, it can be seen how desperate ayano is to keep taro without actually harming osana. osana may like taro, but ayano needs him. the desperation expressed through the befriend route shows the most human ayano ever. this desperation and longing for taro is carried through the same befriending route with amai (although her conversation involves jabs at having a "rival" and "eliminating" them).

the most human and realest part of ayano is when she befriends the rivals and begs them not to confess to taro. (if it isn't obvious I love the pacifist ending because I like the raw desperation and human form of ayano compared to the murderer route)

in contrast to pacifist ayano, when ayano murders the rivals, her sanity obviously decreases. unlike in game where you can giggle or go near taro to increase your sanity, it's not that easy irl.

keep in mind if ayano doesn't increase her sanity and it goes below 20% then ayano starts hallucinating and murdering those around her. even if ayano could realistically easily increase her sanity after killing a rival that is to show that ayano will only be a murderer (something the headmaster and megami saikou thinks her to be). if ayano were kill and regain her sanity quickly she is as broken as people think her to be. she is truly nothing but an empty husk who follows her mother. she may have emotions but she isn't someone you can love. she isn't someone who can be seen as a human. like ryoba, ayano would most likely follow the path that ryoba led where ayano simply kidnaps taro at the end torturing him and making him her husband. as said earlier, negative emotions are easier to form so it would be easy to give in to the pestering intrusive thoughts to kill her rivals. it's the quickest way out and it's the true emotionless thing most want her to be. being violent seems to be the easiest way out and most often people take that route, however, in the very end ayano simply follows her mother's path of decay and destruction. murderer ayano is easier to conform, though, is that the real ayano? is she someone who can't be proven not to be broken? another thing is that if ayano does go this route and she doesn't get caught, all she ends up doing is create a cycle. she continues down the path that ryoba had laid out for her since the beginning. (which honestly is the lousiest route and ending to take because people just loveee the trope of repeating the cycle)

personally I don't care much for the murderer ending but I will admit it is interesting to see how ayano spirals and ultimately decides to kill off every single one of her rivals.

the next two endings are going to be briefly the genocide ending and "snap" ending.

genocide ending is simply the ending where ayano is a murderer but instead of just applying that to just her rivals she does it to the entire school minus taro. it's the 'darkest' ending depending on how you look at it because it proves that ayano couldn't stand anyone else coming between her and taro. she needed taro all to herself and she did just that by killing every single person in the school all in the first day of the week (minus the headmaster, taro, infochan and the guidance counsellor). in this ending you can tell that ayano's sanity is completely gone by the way she says "so..i killed them all" in the cutscene that plays. ayano says it in such a manic and inhuman way its obvious that she doesn't regret it now that she can have taro all for herself. at the very end of the cutscene it pans to taro being in the basement tied up. this is where its clear that ayano follows ryoba completely (if not surpassing her in terms of violent nature and sense due to how she killed every one instead of just her rivals) to keep taro as her senpai.

and finally, snap ending. Snap ending is by far the most interesting one in terms of endings. Before ayano kills taro with the knife, when she walks to every student she kills them with her bare hands. in this ending I believe that she's more "broken" than her other endings. she's given up on this world and she's willing to take out others who get in her way (literally). the others are so terrified to the point where they can't even move, they just watch until it's their turn. ayano feels nothing but heartbreak and there's no other option but to kill taro then herself. even before she kills herself with the same knife she used to stab him, the insistence of voices saying "do it" continue to loop giving her no other option but to join taro. this ending is so interesting because it shows how ayano physically cannot live without taro and how she's willing to make sure that nobody else has him. another thing interesting about it is the trope of "if you die, I die". this trope is placed into things like Romeo and Juliet where Juliet pretends to die and Romeo kills himself to "join" her. when Juliet wakes up and finds Romeo dead she soon follows killing herself actually to join him.

anyway I think I'll stop for now cause I've been at this for hours LOL

The End (for now..)

idk I like yan sim a lot and I love ayano's character (I doubt yandere dev was smart enough to do it on purpose but whatever.) Ayano is literally my girl and I love her so much ❤️❤️ ayano is just a girl she can do many wrongs and ill support her anyway

OKAY but the BEST fanarts on twitter EVER are the mermaid gojos, the cursed spirit gojos. when they draw him ACTUALLY having six eyes i literally hnngghhh augh he's so "be not afraid" coded

i think gojo did mellow out over the years. like becoming a teacher - and i think especially yuta, who relates to gojo a LOT, and i'll bet gojo relates to him a lot more than we see in the text - actually did humanize him more.

imo that's the most humanizing and genuinely good part of his character. that's a part of my own irl elsey backstory tho, i'm a big academic and a lot of my favorite people in life were teachers, and i really respect teaching as an institution and the people who do it. in my mind it's just like, one of the noblest pursuits a human can do, but the real world has just turned it into *gestures sadly*.

but gojo PRE yuta? gojo post graduation, post suguru defection, in the wake of coming back to life and going "the world is so beautiful. i'm sorry riko, i'm not even angry." and contemplating the universe like it's the first time he's seeing it???

it's really fascinating. he says he's not even angry, and he even says he wouldn't feel anything if he killed all those people. so... why does he think that he should? it's like a mask off moment where gojo could be feeling literally ANYTHING (including nothing at all), but he's obviously trying to... approximate some kind of "human" response.

is he sad riko is dead, and he thinks that a normal response would be to "avenge" her? does he see those people as mocking her death, and that's worthy of being killed, and because he knows he wouldn't feel bad about it, he can't tell if it would be wrong to kill them?

maybe it's just what he said - "i'm sorry riko, i'm not even angry", and he's trying to simulate the emotions he thinks he should be feeling, because he knows he failed to protect her?

literally so fascinating. i do think you're onto something when you say there's a lot of room for interpretation, especially because he's got a lot of room to be a really really good person, despite being openly kinda a dick lmao. love him, love that bastard. wanna eat him AND his pretty eyes.

omg...what you said aboutt the 'im sorry riko' scene made me wonder if gojo did a lot more than figure out rct in his last dying moments...maybe he awoke his true potential with a binding vow...giving something while taking something away...something vital for humanity.

cuz have we ever seen gojo....actually avengeful? post-riko? maybe im overthinking it cuz ya hes gotten angry, mad, frustrated, but...if hes human...ughhh i cant explain it but wasnt choso part of the 'capture gojo' squad of shibuya, but a month later he and gojo are civil??? even when yuji dies, and you can see gojo's clearly upset, he still feels a little muted and controlled.

again, it might be because hes the strongest, he consciously controls his emotions, but itd be interesting to think that in his last moments he did a binding vow to escape death, maybe it had something to do with his negative emotions. it could be a great reason as to why he's always 'high' whenever he's fighting someone close to his strength.

ok hi i am currently making my way through all of ur recs and its a LOT of music so its probs gonna take me a couple of days . that being said what ive heard so far i REALLY like

wanna start with what id already heard, ofc Daytona USA OST is great, id say my favorite songs from there were either Sky High or Pounding Pavement, very hard choice.... good stuff all around tho to be sure

i listened to a couple of tracks from FL2LT and id say Could Be or Sling Shot are my favs there, i really love how he always does his vocals, that shit always rocks and it really shines here from what ive listened to so far

finally MAN all of Mitsuyoshi's tracks from Sega Rally 2006 absolutely fuck. every track i heard was awesome, especially Temptation of Speed, Iron Bullfight, and Muddi'n Bass, pumpin tracks that sound like a perfect fit for a rally game (really makes me wanna give it a shot... the last time i tried a rally game, Michelin Rally Masters, was also for the soundtrack, but i didnt mesh with it that much. maybe ill like Sega Rally more,,)

Hell yeah I love "could be"! Its one of my favorite tracks from Crackin' DJ Part 2.

I enjoy Sling Shot a whole lot... buuut I do kinda preffer Dennis St. James ngl. Idk I feel his voice fits more Daytona 2 but I would be lying if I said Mitsuyoshi didnt give a great performance.

Sega Rally rocks! Its one of my favorite racing game series, straying away from simulation racing to focus on the joy of drifting arround in a rally course.

2006 is great buuut I highly recommend starting with the original and its sequel!

(Ok this is the start to a random ass ramble about Sega Rally... just skip the next bold text)

Sega Rally '94 was ported to PS2 and Saturn

PS2 is a straight port of the arcade version while saturn has a bit funkiness due to it being a much weaker machine than the Sega Model 2 but its still great tho!

Highly recommend the "Plus Netlink" release because of the 3D analog pad support.

2 was ported to DC and Windows... but both versions are bad.

Long story short: SR2 for DC was built arround the Windows CE support that the Dreamcast had. WinCE support was mainly there to make it so developers had an easy time working with the hardware and little trouble bringing their stuff to PC... problem is, windows CE on DC was crap and was much more limiting than it should have been

(so much so SEGA just gave developers their own simple OS so they didnt have to use CE (Using CE was still an option but... nobody used it))

Visuals are much worse and it runs like straight garbage and PC is just DC but at an acceptable framerate.

Emulating the Model 3 ver is the way to go.

Its a bit of a hurdle but its super worth it imo. Its one of my absolute favorite games.

The feeling of taking a corner is unmatched

OKAY I GOT DISTRACTED FOR A BIT BY GETTING IN THE ZONE BUT AITSF UDPATE:

1: finished the komeji and shoma ending! i! okay ill be honestly i wasn't super thrilled. I REALLY like the set up stuff in terms of simulation reality, and beleiving its all fake bcs you can't cope, im MASSIVELY INTO THAT. But. I don't. like. Komeji I'm so sorry his just. he's so cube. and he annoys me. I feel like a usually have a pretty high tolerance for this kinda stuff but I just. On paper i get it but in practice I really dont like him. was very happy to see date n co tho. i think it's RIDICULOUSSSS how they explain date's interest in porn like that did not need to be explained. however. its such a stupid explanation it kinda loops back around to being funny to me. sure. why not.

2: ollowing finishing that route i tried to get back to Tokiko to see if i could use that elevator code, bcs she'd been mentioning frayers and i thought i knew what that was but i did not. but no thats only 6 digits so still not right f=/. dang. i also tried to get onto mizuki's half i miss my baby, but i found i needed two names. i know Dahlia is one, but the other is 4 letters so. Currently its probably either for Mame, Lien, or Naix. I suspect Naix the most as an answer.

3: started onto the other route from komeji's somnium. I maintain that these are too easy. It's not like they're like. the problem is that I feel like i'm being treated like I'm an idiot. ryuki and tama talk everything out in such detail, and theres often not a lot of stuff to interact with at all, a lot of which doesn't even let you make the choices like from the last game. like, proper timie usage was SO important to me last game and in this one I've never even racked up 3. i also feel like there's less dream logic, and it's a little disappointing. like, oh tape the cardboard back together. turn on the tv. =( the whimsy. it did improve some in the back half though, and i'll take it!!!

4: liking this dead komeji route WAY MORE than the other one. its not that i hate him that much but i do like the way the plots moving here. what does mame know? whats the masked womans deal? has anyone seen shoma. WHAT IS WRONGGGG WITH RYUKI <33. what is wrong with ryuki is by far my favourite mystery. im more interested in that than i am in the half body killings honestly. (part of that is teh victims i think. we dont really know jin, chikara was annoying at best but the more i learn about him the more i hate him, komeji was annoying, so. honestly i havent really been that upset about any of them dying. tokiko i did love and i am sad she's gone, but also these murders are a little bland following the first game. i just watched a guys head explode could there at least be a little blood? just a little? i know its probably for plot reasons but ive never missed gore so bad. im not even that into gore.

5: somewhere on the dead komeji route i finally figured out what that little green thing in the menu was so i've activated my tamagotchi thingy!! very fun i love it. mines an iris-y one or something? its cuteee!!

6: in terms of the wider mystery: im just really curious how far they're gonna commit to being meta.they did start with asking ME what i knew about the last game so.... looking forward to ryuki's whole deal, actually getting to play as my darling mizuki again, finding out what is UPP with date. i really like the weird videos series i just think they're neat. if the endgame doesn't have a somnium based on those thigns i will be disappointed, surely thats what we're building to.

i left off right before starting mame's somniumin the gameshow room. i don't think shes' actually involved in the killings, but doing that would be REALLY NEAT as a sequel thing, imo. i'd like it. i think shes just hiding stuff bcs she was threatened. assumably i've still got a good chunk of the game to paly! i havent done much if any of the extra eyeballs either, just whats on the way so. i'll get those guys. have been picking up some costumes n stuff tho. you can put tama <33 in pants <3333333333.

Momo's Anime Recommendation Rubric: ROMANTIC KILLER

Every once in a while I get in the mood for a good romance anime, preferably a reverse harem because.. let's be honest, a male with 50 bitches is unrealistic af. Half of yall can't even keep the one girl, let alone more.

So I watched Romantic Killer a couple of weeks back and I'm still heavily thinking about it. Genuinely a funny anime with great art and some cute ass guys, and if you read the summary of it you will notice it's 'dating sim based' but with a twist, the twist being the MC has absolutely no fucking interest in having a dating life. And honestly, I fuck with that.

Title: Romantic Killer

Episodes: 12

Manga: yes, anime completely caught up (4 volumes)

Genre: comedy, romance, supernatural, reverse harem

Synopsis: a high school girl obsessed with her cat, games and chocolates gets tricked into taking part in some crazy, weird magic dating simulator by a wizard mascot that pops out of the universe's ass. The wizard mascot tells her that this project was created in order to increase japan's dropping birth rate numbers by providing means for people like her who are hopeless in the romance department so they can find partners and true love.

Mind you the MC is very much not fond of the idea and refuses, but the little weird wizard mascot takes all her games, chocolates and her cat away, and sends her parents away to work in America, because anime logic is flawless and we do not question it. So, seeing as how she isn't going to get rid of the mascot nor can she get the things she wants back, she accepts her fate, yet remains absolutely determined to curb any and all men that try to romance her.

Well, as you can imagine, it goes sideways. The hot guy, the sporty guy, and the rich spoiled guy all appear, and two of them under suspicious circumstances end up living with her. However, unlike what you would expect, she does not cave. While admitting they are hella handsome fellas (I mean, the girl has eyes) she refuses to date them and keeps them at an arms length romance wise. Great friends tho! They learn about each other and grow in a wholesome way.

Above all this girl is an amazing friend, completely dedicated and willing to go long ways to protect those she cares for. The romantic interests all have their background stories that are incredibly interesting, and throughout the entire anime a light, fun atmosphere is held. If you squint you came ven see a gay plotline covered up as friendship. If you squint even harder you can see it as one big unlabeled poly relationship, which tickles my fancy very much. As all romance animes it has it's cliché's, but it is still quite refreshing and I highly recommend it to anyone in the mood for a good laugh, feeling giddy and experiencing butterflies in their stomach.

I do wish to have a small disclaimer that the last 2 to 3 episodes of the anime take a slightly darker turn and deal with bsessive stalking and violence, so do be cautious!

it mostly has to do with your tendency to lean more towards pacifism. your quirk partly being the ability to turn into the matter that, at high levels, could destroy so much implies an ability to quickly end a fight or aprehend a villain with little to no issue or hesitance.

but your kindness sometimes clouds those aggressive instincts, and though endearing, your class worries it'll get in the way.

bakugou and todoroki, who are by far some of the most offensive fighters, show this by encouraging you to be more assertive on and off the battlefield.

the bakusquad feels relatively the same in those regards, tho they'll more openly hype you up and at time make comments about having to be a tad bit more offensive than defensive. they'll never be rude about it, though, and don't dismiss the work you do, either.

the rest of the class is pretty neutral, though they do worry. they show this more in availability to back you up over anything.

URARAKA LOVES WORKING WITH YOU

your quirks are so naturally compatible and you two help each other with flight training which is always fun :]

hagakure (💀) and aoyama (💀💀💀) both are really invested in training with you, too. as a trio, tactically, you make a great team. hagakure's ability to bend light and you and aoyama being able to switch off being sources of it just 💞 it just works!!

also you're "shiny" so aoyama is naturally inclined to befriend you. AND TBH HIS SHININESS IS APPEALING TOO-

so like life sucks right so im trying to pluck my face and i stumbled upon bounprem stuff even tho i've been watching like nothing or drumming videos (i lied... know why, cos i keep clicking on fanmade mvs for winteamidk why bc i hate watching them but they give me info in extremely close amounts of time)

ANYWAY

pro: everything else. i ESPECIALLLLLLLY like how they want to work behind the camera!!!!!!! it seems like that was boun's goal all along which really excites me as a ~filmmakeur~ and i like that prem may try it too. i laughed when he didnt know what a slate was but he didn't know about production and he's a green actor so i can believe that but he shouldnt sell himself short cos being an actor can give you a lot of insight into the behind the scenes work. it also makes u appreciate us more :)

this makes me want to hug my friends lmao i havent seen or touched friends and i'm fucking single and im high alone GOD WHY!!!!

anyway my point was that im high and love them and i hope they do art >:)

lastly, i hope they are friends forever they have great chemistry and their true actual care for e/o. i was thinking about how i don't ship people but i enjoy seeing good relationships esp in this context. bl is really devoid of a lot of shit but i think what's the best thing about seeing two people who share a space and are being looked at is the chemistry of how that dynamic works as co-workers and, hopefully, close friends. that's why pretend camraderie is important when doing (dumb) press-circuits (so people can make ze $)

it's always nice to see natural chemistry or people learning their rship or even people who may not be close after shooting (in any context, but here in particularly) but find themselves as older casual friends to catch up with. since this genre is so heavily focused on blurring those lines or whatever when things start getting weird (like from exposure and lack of good skilsl of acting and/or care or whatever idk im high) or they have shitty rships in between them for whatever reason u can immediately tell

so like oh your chemistry is real ! on top of that for some it's like oh real and ur playing characters that are falling in love. idk what im saying it's just reaally exciting to meeee u have a perosn with u supporting u thru the same process u r. also with two people there's always going to be someone who picks up not...slack but is more into a leadership type position (i hate using this word) but somoene you rely on if you arent the type to want to take care of eveyrthing—a lot of friends and couples do it (i do with my best friends. literally i'll be quiet and let them do things im too embarrassed to do but im still insanely forceful and i will play that role for them if needed) so bounprem have that in their natures and boun being older and slightly mroe mature (or i would say again different natures who knows)

it's the same type of joy you get and excitement you feel when ensemble casts truly like each other and it's ~natural energie~ (like in my engineer the whole feel of it i'm just like omg u guys are FRIENDS fijshoufija theyre so cute; hope theyre all okay) it also shows that you have someone/people you trust and having fun on set is really important. filming should be fun. a lot of times i don't like finishing shows because if the chemistry is good for the cast i feel like empty, like im leaving the set. that's a really good feeling tho!!!

anyway i think a big part of it (im still trying to articulate myself) is the fact that they dont have to be real but have the capacity to be and can set the limits of their rship but it's really nice to have a really influential set of people who want the best for you and vice versa esp if someone knows u more intimately in a capacity many people may not experience/understand because of ur job (IE showing as ~lovers~ but being friends irl even tho uve been very intimate for simulation and artistic value. this is based on a specific set of principles btw i'm not including sex work here bc it's also very different and a job in a different way but it doesnt make it lesseer than anything. all jobs suck tho)

ALSO I realize how easily their personalities fit winteam not in a 'they dont have to try" way cos they do and should. they're ok actors and the more u do and learn etc but the chemistry tests they probably had with them probably solidified that even though they are very diff than their characters. being an insanely good swimmer from jump gives the watcher the impression of probably perfectionism, a bit of torment, perhaps dumb jock syndrome, and having to be insanely good; for win the tattoos are an instant signifier instantly (if u c them) cos it's always like ~ooh what's the story~* lmao

Growing Up is Hard; It’s Hard and Nobody Understands

So I noticed netflix has Neon Genesis Evangelion up last week and started watching it front to back for the first time ever(this happens to have coincided with me being in a down-mood for your edification, dear readers u_u), finished it today, REALLY liked it, and I wanted to try my hand at explaining what the hell is even going on in NGE cuz it actl seemed super-clear to me(a person who has been consuming NGE analysis and post-NGE media for literally 25 years) u_u

Surface Plot; Or NERV: What the Hell Is It?

I’ll try to make this as brief as possible: An organization of super-wealthy individuals calling itself Seele(looking this up, it means soul in german) wants to possess the power of God. The final third or so of the series is clear on this; it’s all about power. Ikari Yui, a geneticist, is recruited by this organization, and her husband Gendo(having taken her name which says a LOT given typical Japanese practice) comes with her. In seeking out this power, they discover a hollow sphere underneath Antarctica(”The White Moon”), send an expedition there under the guise of the UN, encounter an entity with this power which they label an “Angel”, and do SOMETHING which prompts it to explode the continent flooding the earth and killing half the population(that Gendo left beforehand implies this may have been intentional, or that a bad outcome to Seele’s approach was easy to predict, tho in typical Gendo fashion, his is the only ass he cared to save).

Afterwards Seele blame the scientists for this outcome and send Gendo on a salvage mission which recovers both remains of the Angel, now dubbed “Adam”, and a device they dub “the spear of Longinus”. Seele creates Gehirn to study these remains for practical use; they clone “Adam” and dub the result Evas(Eves). Having cloned them, they now need a way to use and control them as the Evas are non-responsive. They hit on the idea of injecting people into them via the Entry Plug system, presumably to act as a brain. The first person to try this, Ikari Yui, was absorbed by the Eva(Unit 01); the second(Soryu Kyoko Zeppelin; Asuka’s mother) was partially psychologically absorbed by Unit 02, psychologically and mentally injured by this, institutionalized, abandoned by her shit USian husband Langley who remarried to her LEAD DOCTOR, and eventual kills herself in a hanging which Asuka either is the first to discover or, given her memories of promising to die with her/begging her not to do it, was present for. An important thing to note about this: Shinji and Asuka’s ability to sync with their Evas comes from the fact that their mothers are PART of their Eva’s identity, and all of their classmates are potential pilot-candidates. The implication here is that Seele KNEW this happened when you put adults into an Angel, and they KEPT DOING IT ANYWAY to create more pilots, but there’s no confirmation of that in series.

After the attempt at human adult control fails, Gendo combines Yui’s DNA with Adam’s and creates Rei. At the same time he is doing this another team, under Akagi Naoko, is developing Magi, a biomechanical computer for simulating the human mind(again: certain implication to this re: Evas though the series never says anything). Naoko is romantically interested in Gendo, and they start getting together(Gendo’s too much of an asshole to be said to date, I think). After Rei, a toddler, tells her Gendo calls her an “old woman” in private, not realizing this is insulting, Naoko kills her, then kills herself out of shame over having MURDERED A CHILD, and Gehirn is folded into a new organization, NERV, which Gendo is put in charge of. Rei forms the basis of the second attempt at controlling the Evas; child-pilots.

How they use Rei for this I’m not exactly sure. It could be because Rei is cloned from Yui(she easily syncs with Unit 01 before Shinji bonds with it completely), or because she’s part Angel via her Adam element(Kaworu says Angels merge with one another easily and naturally), or it could be they did something with Rei I’s corpse and Unit 00(I dont see how as it seems to require a LIVE pilot). Regardless, she is raised to be the pilot for 00, the prototype. MUCH later, when the rest of the Angels finally decide to come looking for Adam, Shinji is called in, and after his success Asuka(who like Rei and unlike Shinji has been training to pilot her whole life) is called to Nerv headquarters(under Japan, in the “Black Moon”; a second spherical hollow where they found another Angel they call Lilith) too.

Regardless the child-pilots are only a step in Nerv and Seele’s plans, as Rei is ALSO the template for the Dummy Plug system, the final step in complete control of Eva units. To put it simply, the Dummy Plugs are Rei-clones without her personality or memories, and will just do whatever the heck they’re ordered to. At least once during the series(and I’d argue two, possibly three times) Rei dies and is replaced by one of these clones through some process, which involves what looks like a pre 00 Eva’s spine and probably a Magi-like backup, which transfers her personality and memories into the new body.

So what is Nerv? Well it’s hard to say EXACTLY because Gendo is in some sort of conflict with Seele(and I want to keep my watches of End of Evangelion out of this post; to focus entirely on JUST NGE itself) and Nerv IS Gendo, but as the series states repeatedly it’s an attempt to control the future of humanity by controlling what they call “the power of god” which, given that it’s what most distinguishes the “Angels”, is the AT, or “Absolute Terror”, Field. What is the AT Field? It’s a field that can make or unmake any kind of matter or energy from basically nothing, and it also seems to have a strong tie to what you could call the Ego; to desires and sense-of-self. An AT Field gets stronger when the person generating it is experiencing powerful emotions; Confidence, sure, but also Fear, Abandonment, the Will to Live, and Anger.

That last bit is very important. Why? Strong AT Field effects require a powerful emotional motivation in the pilot combined with high sync-rates with the Eva(basically a lobotomized Angel-clone) generating the Field. The three pilots we meet, the Strongest candidates, are all exceedingly traumatized people, and Gendo is the direct cause of the trauma of two of them. At no point in the series is Gendo ever a good father to Shinji, he is CONSTANTLY unreasonable, neglectful, and cruel to him; he’s kinder to Rei but at the same time her loneliness, the state of her “home”, and her lack of self worth shows that he rarely interacts with her outside of missions or explains what’s going on beyond bald facts; and he COMPLETELY ignores Asuka, a deeply lonely child with a history of abandonment and close brushes with death; he even delegates bumping her from the program. This point is important because it’s important to recognize that Gendo is a bad dad on PURPOSE; that he instrumentalizes his bad dadness to traumatize Shinji(and Rei and Asuka, though sadly the series doesn’t focus on them enough for us to see much) as much as he can, because he thinks that trauma, that emotional instability and anger, MAKES SHINJI A MORE USEFUL PILOT; ie lets him generate more powerful AT Fields. This is never said clearly, but it’s clearly what’s going on as forcing Unit 01(and thus Shinji) into awful, heartbreaking, life-threatening situations is vital to his plan. Gendo’s a piece of shit, and I want ppl to recognize just HOW BIG a piece of shit he is, because I feel this powerfully.

And for what? For Power. To be “God”. To get the highest numbers. To generate the MOST Invincible Invincibility Shield. For Ridiculous, Absurd, Childish reasons. For, you know, the same reasons rich and powerful people do all the fucked up shit they do in the real world where giant magic robots thankfully DONT exist.

And how do they plan to do this? Through “Human Instrumentation”, which will literally kill everyone by turning them all into goo.

Metaplot; Or “SHINJI! Don’t Get in that Robot!!”

So, maybe this is just because(as said previously) I’ve been reading NGE Analysis and consuming media which NGE heavily inspired for ~25 years, but I think it’s old hat at this point to note that Neon Genesis Evangelion is ALSO an allegory for becoming an adult, centered on Shinji. However, it’s just really SO on the nose in this, so PERFECT as such a narrative, that I want to run through it real quick. Also: A Cruel Angel’s Thesis is basically a thesis-statement for this series; please check out the lyrics.

So Shinji is living under the guardianship of a teacher(yup: this series even takes a swing at how our society uses schools to warehouse kids so their parents can waste their lives producing “Value” instead of raising them), when the shitty dad that abandoned him decides he has a use for him after all and calls him up.

On meeting with a child he has not seen SINCE HE WAS A TODDLER LITERALLY ABANDONED HIM ON THE STREET WHEN HIS MOTHER DIED he immediately ambushes him with the command that he get in a huge body(that he grow up) to do what? Whatever Gendo tells him to, but specifically: commit acts of violence for Gendo and Seele’s profit. He tells him this will protect people; meanwhile doing it destroys those peoples’ literal homes. The rest of the series is a series of monotonous, incomprehensible “Tests” judging his, and his peers, worthiness for approval and affection on the basis of how well they can use those giant bodies to do what Gendo tells them(so: capitalist work), punctuated by unpredictable, brutal, traumatizing, and physically dangerous events(so: capitalist work). Every friend, and the one lover, he meets, he is placed in unnecessary, destructive competition with and, when they are male, forced to attack and(in the case of the one lover, Kaworu) kill them; this last comment on homophobia is so stark and obvs I don’t even feel like you can CALL it subtext, even IF it plays out over mostly a single episode(honestly this plotline should have been given more time). And all the time they’re doing this, they must ALSO continue going to school and maintaining the front that they’re happy smiley Heroes, completely normal and not traumatized at all, and Nerv and the government that lets them run this city is a great and wonderful organization. Is this not what becoming an adult, over your teens and 20s, feels like?

And then there’s Seele and Nerv. Able to move state governments as they wish, Seele CAUSED Second Impact(Global Warming). By not returning Adam’s remains, they’re CAUSING the Angel attacks on Nerv meant to retrieve them(the threat of Human extinction). The Angels eventually begin trying to communicate and Nerv’s response? Destroy them before they can; blow up the Evas(and their pilots) if they succeed. And to top it all off Seele and Nerv are actually trying to CAUSE the very extinction(Third Impact) they claim to be preventing! Seele and Nerv are just SUCH good metaphors for capitalism in our modern day.

The transwoman reading of Shinji also seems pretty dang strong to me, though I’ll only deal with it shallowly. Shinji is the only “male” of all the pilots. Outside of command and security, most Nerv staff are women. Being an Eva pilot, being Nerv staff, is marked as “feminine”, and Shinji is an Eva pilot; is a Nerv staffer. The body he gets into, Unit 01, acts as a metaphor for the large, imposing, masculine body he’s expected to have as an adult “man”, yet it’s also spiritually his mom -feminine- and his ability to use it is tied DIRECTLY with his ability to “Sync” with that spirit; with his ease and comfort being feminine. Even at the level of mere aesthetics, Shinji’s plugsuit makes him appear to have breasts! Going a bit deeper, he initially relates to the women around him by relating to their gender. He’s most at ease with Rei because of the personality traits she shares with him which, we know from his gender-policing of Misato from earlier in the series, are traits he considers feminine(ie: he doesn’t feel like Misato has them, so he thinks she’s being a woman “wrong” and gets oddly offended by this in a way that really feels more about him than her). Asuka is constantly expressing her frustration with him for not “being a man”, ie, for being “feminine” in her eyes, and he isn’t really bothered by it(her calling him an idiot seems to stick much more firmly). Misato and Shinji establish a modus vevendi when she accepts him as he is, allowing him to do the household chores and to cook; he’s comfortable and happy when accepted into roles his culture considers feminine, while most of the series is him bucking AGAINST the masculinity forced on him by Nerv, his father, and others. Again: this is a very surface-level engagement with the subject, but even at that shallow level I feel like the case for reading Shinji as a transwoman is pretty solid.

Dislikes

It’s not a perfect series by any means of course.

There’s allot of dialogue that’s pure 90s nonsense, though the series mostly includes it only to shoot it down.

Like I said above, I don’t think Rei and Asuka really get the time or attention they deserve. In general the series treatment of women is ...Weird... especially around the issue of sex. It’s really strange; in many ways it’s far better than most anime(spcl from that period) on this. Women are ACTUAL PEOPLE with psychology, opinions, and pasts; they’re allowed to have emotions of their own, and struggles, and to be damn competent; they are independent and their own selves rather than accessories or “prizes” to men. But on the issue of feminine sexuality it just gets suddenly so weird in this very particular old-school misogynist way. Like: it treats women’s attraction and reactions TO relationships as something devoid of and impenetrable to reason, without belittling the emotions(the desire and hurt) behind those reactions. That’s the only way I can describe it, and it’s so strange to see something that is both so insulting and sympathetic at once. Oh, and the Akagis in particular are done super-dirty for seemingly no reason I can see, tho I can guess, and Akagi Ritsuki is CLEARLY a lesbian(possibly bi lesbian) and also Rose Lalonde(srsl; her Deal should have been an unrequited, unspoken crush on Misato. They openly dealt with queerness re: Kaworu and Shinji they could have done it here too).

The Kaworu storyline should have been a series of episodes or even developed from the start with him as another pilot(maybe replace Toji with him), though they’d have to tone down his weirdness, at least at the start. A deeper dive on Shinji’s sexuality(honestly his attraction to Kaworu is SO much more immediate and believable than anything we see with him and Asuka, which there is basically nothing of beyond the ep where they had to do choreography for a fight, and that’s not developed on) would have really been appreciated, and having Kaworu be a bigger part of the series would have facilitated that.

Also honestly the whole series feels a bit rushed? Spcl the second half. Like I said: I haven’t done any followup reading lately, but I remember there being some budget problems or something, so maybe that’s the cause. Ironically it might actl also be why it’s as GOOD as it is; having to keep it short forces you to write concise and lean, and that’s probably why its themes and message are so clear. But, I’d have liked more rambling for character development, and more time spent on seeing Rei and Asuka react to the stresses we saw Shinji face(also they never really get moments to shine like he does; another negative common to the medium and genre). Asuka in particular, as a Japanese German with a USian temperament abandoned by her parents, already an outsider in SO many ways, coming to live in an entirely different culture where she’s even MORE of an outsider; forced to live with people(Misato and Shinji) she finds it impossible to relate to or connect with; who has literally NO ONE beside a single adult guardian who totally blows her off THE WHOLE SERIES after delivering her; PLUS her awful past: there’s just SO MUCH material I’d have loved to see explored more slowly and with greater depth, detail, and sympathy even if what IS there already is pretty powerful and effecting. She’s SUCH a good Vriska(so I’d also have loved to see her break more shit too >:>)

Conclusion

So Anyway: I really liked this series. It had its problems, there are things I’d have liked to see, but it absolutely deserves the reputation it has. I might write more about this, I might do a watch through INCLUDING End of Evangelion(which actl makes much more sense having watched the series, though having done so makes Shinji’s masturbation scene comPLETELY out of left-field like where the hell did THAT come from); we’ll see.

huh, so sleep has improved quite a bit over the last few days. i’ve started going to bed around 12 and waking up around 9, though all the times i stayed awake after 9 i’ve gotten really tired again around 11 and fallen back asleep until my like 4th alarm goes off for yiddish class at 2:30. Nevertheless, this is more tenable than The Morning being the core of my rem sleep lol -- in general, based on when dreams happen, my rem sleep seems to have shifted earlier as well, based on when my dreams happen (my sense of time in dreams has actually always been quite accurate -- like if i wake up, check the time, go back to sleep, have a dream, and then wake up again, i can generally tell how much time has passed at least as accurately as during waking hours -- which, granted, is not that accurately). interestingly, my dreams between 5am and 8am ish have started being slightly more unpleasant than usual, which is not affecting my quality of life at all and might not be a long-term phenomenon. anyway, the rem-shifting’s great, and might also explain why it was always so difficult for me to wake up even if i was otherwise well rested. (tho in high school, where did i NOT sleep to make up for lost hours. on a toilet seat, on the train, on a park bench outside. u know where it was forbidden to sleep? the boston central library. and they enforced it too. why.) anyway, what seems to have helped the most is taking a melatonin pill at around the same time each day. hopefully this trend will continue, and at the very least i’ll be awake right around when my 10am classes (grumble grumble) are. also, i learned that epileptics tend to have lower melatonin levels than the average person! not sure if this means i should take more than the recommended dose or na oborot less bc it’ll take less to simulate a natural spike. i guess i will speak to my doctor. also, melatonin levels spike during seizures, which makes a LOT of sense. before i was diagnosed, i called absenses “being asleep”, bc that’s basically what it felt like. same effort to produce utterances with my actual mouth as in a dream, same sense of connectedness to reality and understanding of what it is i’m supposed to be doing as appears in certain dreams. also explains both why i’m always exhausted after tonic-clonics and why both absence seizures and tonic clonic auras manifest like that, where in auras i can barely speak and process information and have, like once or twice, actually had no recollection of anything that happened during them, then in mid-grade absences, i’m usually like, idk, 10% more aphasic than my normal Very Phasic (can u tell by how long this post is lmao? i hope nobody reads it through, this isn’t interesting info) and also, which is how i usually notice that something’s wrong, i can’t process any information that i read, and the most mild of absences manifest so close to tiredness, with maybe just a bit more heaviness in a particular place behind my eyes, that i often can’t tell until later, when i’m like “oh, the characteristic ‘not feeling connected at all to what happened this morning’ sensation”. (i’ve apparently gotten pretty good at producing minimum viable sentences and, like, Doing Activities, during auras which is actually not great bc it takes more for someone to notice that something’s off, which is relevant at least as long as i live with people i interact with in the mornings [extra parentheses, my parents whenever they were suspicious kept asking me to do multiplication, even tho it was not once effective and i kept being like. guys. we learned the multiplication table in 2nd grade. 11x11 is not information it is taking me any energy to retrieve. ask me to summarize a paragraph. they did not do this once! why?). also, studies have shown that teens who regularly take melatonin have both more and less seizures than their counterparts, which i think has much more to do with the type of kids who tend to take melatonin regularly than with its actual impact on seizures, since most of these studies were questionaires and not clinical trials that tracked how many seizures you had before and after starting regular melatonin doses. also, sleep deprivation and other sleep fuckery is a known seizure trigger, so it makes sense that depending on why and how you take melatonin it could affect seizures. anyway, future masha can use this as testimony to doctor in case “tell me all about your sleep on january 22nd” is a question that comes up

A little late but I'm also in the underleveled and struggling boat. Are there any guides or resources with help along the lines of team building, leveling, what to focus on, etc?

I used this guide when I was starting out. It’s been updated since then with some newer dolls and info, thankfully. The biggest problem with this guide is that it’s so aggressively geared towards giving new players some basic guidance and helping them avoid “newbie traps” that it actually winds up giving harmful advice to midgame players.

I did kind of start making a new player guide but I couldn’t really figure out what level of advice made sense to give. I’m going to try to give a shorter version of that guide here, but it would really help me if you (and anyone else who reads this and finds it interesting or helpful) ask more questions or call out explicitly what you find helpful and whether you feel like I’m missing anything or saying anything misleading, because I would really like to make more resources for other players and I feel like not knowing where other players are at is kinda holding me back. c:

There’s kinda two different areas of focus for advice here; the first is just general base and resource management stuff. Unfortunately, people don’t make guides for this kind of thing. (I would love to sometime tho.) Here’s what I’ve learned.

Running 4 logistics at all times is not optional. It is required. Do your best to refresh your logistics as often as you can. Stacking up your resources to 100-200k lets you farm maps as much as you like for drops (read: dummy cores) and XP.

The fastest way to get a lot of dummy cores for linking your high-rarity dolls is crafting. This is another reason why logistics are so important, and learning to manage your logistics so that you have not only a good ratio of resources but also are building up your contracts over time is really important. If you want to do construction just for cores and don’t care what you pull, I recommend pulling for SMGS (430/430/130/230), as the UMP sisters have a high drop rate and give 3 cores each. (They’re also just really good, so you should raise them if you can.)

Even if you’re poor, do 4 constructions a day every day. 30/30/30/30 is good enough. You’ll make your resources and most of your contracts back from daily quest rewards, plus you get a guaranteed core every day from the dailies AND you have a solid chance of getting at least one 3* HG from that recipe. It doesn’t seem like much when you’re waiting on 45 cores to get that x5 for just one of your dolls, but I promise it builds up quick.

If you’re desperate for cores, running maps for drops sounds awful but honestly isn’t that bad over time. I personally liked 7-2E a lot but that’s because My Wife Is A Shotgun and having a shotgun makes it much easier to clear that map without paying a ton of repair costs. 0-2, 0-4 (retreating instead of trying to clear the map) and 4-3E are all fine choices and the guide linked above gives even more options.

The most important stuff to buy from the Black Market Shop, in order, is Combat Reports > Universal Parts > Cores (they’re disproportionately expensive imo so i value them lower) > Special Reports > Batteries > Enhancement Capsules.

It should also go without saying that you should do your combat simulations every day and use up all of your sim energy. Leveling dolls’ skills is really important when you get to late and endgame, and will also make a big difference in night battles. Enhancement capsules become easy to come by once you are able to farm event boxes reliably (and thankfully you don’t need to be high level to do that), so you can spend capsule days on neural fragments instead if you want.

I don’t personally like to spend combat reports on dolls over level 90 because getting from 90 to 100 is almost as expensive as getting from 1 to 90, but you get triple combat XP when fully dummy linked and can clear maps with much higher XP yield at that level, so it seems like a really inefficient use of reports.

The other side, like you mentioned, is more in the game theory and meta world. What dolls are worth using? How should I combine them? What’s the highest priority to raise?

Purely from a “clearing content efficiently” standpoint, your number 1 priority is M4A1, followed closely by ST AR-15 and M4 SOPMOD II. RO635 is also good but not quite as much of a hard requirement. But the three core AR team dolls are all virtually best in class and M4A1 is literally the best doll in the game when she gets her neural upgrade, with ridiculous damage output and unparalleled versatility. These dolls will carry you through content for your entire career in GFL.

M16 is kind of niche and weird but certainly not bad to raise. I just wouldn’t consider her a top priority.

Your first echelon should be ARSMG (probably built with the AR team). If you don’t know what to build after that, build a second ARSMG team, then an RFHG team. If you’re diligent and make liberal use of support echelons, this should be enough to clear all story content right now (though I won’t promise it’ll be easy). MGSG echelons should wait until you feel like you have a good grip on your logistics management, because they’re very expensive to use and not that much better than ARSMG.

Great early ARs: FNC is surprisingly good even in lategame and is a solid choice thanks to how common and cheap she is to raise. OTs-12, F2000, SIG-510, and G3 are also good. You get an STG44 from quest rewards and she’s fine, too. Most ARs are good, but lower-rarity ones are obviously easier to raise.

Great SMGs: A well-loved Skorpion will surprise you. Ingram and PPS-43 are also great choices. I had decent success with Type64 and Spectre M4, too, but they will be outscaled by higher-rarity options later on. The UMP sisters are excellent SMGs with UMP45 possibly being best in class, but they are a little more expensive to raise.

You should stay away from most 5* SMGs unless there’s one you really love, because choosing your SMGs properly is actually deceptively really hard and spending a bunch of resources on one that doesn’t synergize well with your other options would be a huge bummer. The one exception might be Vector, but only if you really invest in her skill.

Great RFs: People hype up M14 for a reason. She’s cheap, the game hands you a ton of copies for free as achievement rewards (and you can get more of her from map drops easily), and she scales really shockingly well, remaining a really strong choice even in endgame content to this day (and probably forever). SVD and WA2000 are high rarity but so fantastic that they are worth raising if you don’t have any other options. SKS and FN49 are also good low-rarity options; the quest reward Springfield is worth raising, even if she doesn’t really reach peak performance without her special equip (and thankfully it’s not hard to farm for!).

Handguns starting out are just kind of tough. There are two reasons for this; one, they don’t provide their full power buffs until max dummy links; two, they can’t equip an exoskeleton until level 80, which means they’ll get shredded by basically any enemy that looks at them funny. If you’re having a hard time running RFs + HGs at mid level, it’s fine to put an SMG in front for a while just to absorb damage. Later on you will want to practice luring and stalling enemies by moving your HGs around manually, and if you can master that, RFHG will become a lot stronger (well, technically every echelon will, but RFHG will benefit the most).

Again, please please please let me know whether or not this is helpful and don’t be shy about asking follow up questions. This game is kind of hard and tricky and weird and I want very badly to help! The more I know about where my followers are at, the better advice I can give!
