When it comes to finding the best restaurants in Singapore, Balestier emerges as a significant contender. With its rich history and vibrant food culture, Balestier is home to some of the finest cafes and eateries that cater to diverse tastes. But what makes a Balestier cafe truly exceptional? What qualities should you look for to enjoy the best Balestier food? Here, we delve into the essential attributes that define the best cafes near Balestier.
Quality of Food
The cornerstone of any reputable Balestier cafe is the quality of its food. Fresh, high-quality ingredients should be a given, whether you are enjoying traditional dishes or indulging in fusion Western cuisine. Look for cafes that take pride in sourcing their ingredients locally, as this not only supports local farmers but also ensures the freshest produce makes it to your plate.
Furthermore, the taste and presentation of the food are paramount. The best Balestier food offerings should be both delicious and visually appealing. A well-prepared dish that delights the senses can elevate your dining experience and make you eager to return.
Menu Diversity
A diverse menu is another hallmark of a top-tier Balestier cafe. The best restaurants in Singapore are those that offer a variety of options to cater to different palates. In Balestier, you will find cafes that blend local flavours with international influences, creating unique fusion Western cuisine that stands out.
Cafes near Balestier should also accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences, offering vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other options to ensure all diners can find something enjoyable. A varied menu not only attracts a broader audience but also encourages repeat visits as patrons explore new dishes.
Ambience and Environment
The ambience of a Balestier cafe plays a crucial role in shaping the overall dining experience. An inviting and comfortable environment can make a significant difference, whether you are there for a quick coffee or a leisurely meal. The best cafes near Balestier often feature stylish decor, ample seating, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home.
Additionally, cleanliness and hygiene standards should be top-notch. A spotless environment reflects a cafe's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure the cafe you choose maintains high standards of cleanliness in both the dining area and the kitchen.
Customer Service
Exceptional customer service is a defining characteristic of the best Balestier cafes. Friendly, attentive staff who go the extra mile to make your visit pleasant can greatly enhance your dining experience. From taking your order promptly to accommodating special requests, the level of service you receive can set a cafe apart from its competitors.
Look for cafes where the staff are knowledgeable about the menu and can provide recommendations based on your preferences. Good customer service also means addressing any issues swiftly and efficiently, ensuring that patrons leave with a positive impression.
Value for Money
While quality and service are crucial, the best Balestier food establishments also offer good value for money. This does not necessarily mean the cheapest options, but rather a fair price for the quality and quantity of food provided. A top Balestier cafe will strike a balance between affordability and excellence, ensuring that you get your money's worth with each visit.
Unique Selling Points
In a competitive dining scene like Balestier, cafes that stand out often have unique selling points. This could be a signature dish, a special blend of coffee, or an innovative take on fusion Western cuisine. Identifying what makes a cafe unique can help you discover hidden gems and enjoy memorable dining experiences.
Community Engagement
The best cafes near Balestier are often those that engage with the local community. This could be through participating in local events, supporting nearby businesses, or simply creating a space where locals feel welcome. Community-focused cafes foster a sense of belonging and are often beloved by regular patrons.
Conclusion
In summary, the top qualities to look for in a Balestier cafe include high-quality food, diverse menu options, a pleasant ambience, excellent customer service, value for money, unique selling points, and community engagement. We had one of Steff's comedian friends staying with us on the weekend, lovely lad called Sam from Singapore. He had never been to Wales before, and he requested that we take him to a Welsh restaurant so he could try Welsh food
That's surprisingly difficult, actually. Like a lot of Welsh culture, our culinary traditions have not exactly been applauded over the years, so you don't really see them. But a lucky Google search revealed a brand new one has just opened in SA1 called the Welsh House, so great! Away we went.
Fuck me, they went all in.
It wasn't just the menu (though fuck me, what a menu - one of their 'for the table to share' options was little mini leek and cheddar Welsh cakes with salted butter and they were paralysingly good). It wasn't just that every alcohol was Welsh, even including the wine (surprisingly good btw, called 'Naturiol'.)
The table centerpieces were daffodils. All signs for the toilets were Welsh only. The walls had photos of Wales, modern and historical; the windows had the fleur de lis; the specials board (pork belly in Welsh cider and damson sauce with honey and wild garlic glazed carrots) had dragons on. I realise this is probably normal for country-themed restaurants, but I've never been to one for Wales before.
But the best bit, see, was the music
I clocked, when we walked in, that they were playing If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next by the Manic Street Preachers (you always clock the Manics). Ah, I thought. A Welsh song! In a Welsh restaurant! Ho ho ho.
As they seated us, it became What's New Pussycat. Ah! I thought. Another Welsh song! Fu fu fu.
Then they played Monster by the Automatic and I was like my god are they only playing Welsh music?? That's so cool! What an eclectic mix that's going to be. We should suggest to them they should look into Welsh language music too, really mix it up.
And then they played Anrheoli by Yws Gwynedd and lads, Steff and I lost our shit. We lost our fucking shit. Sam's sitting there, utterly bewildered. The staff are nervously edging away from us. We don't care. It's the first time I have ever heard a Welsh language song played outside of a Welsh language setting. We're so excited.
"They're playing Welsh music!!!" says Steff. "Holy shit!!!"
"Imagine if they played Sebona Fi!" I say, humorously.
"Nah," says Steff. "You can't in a restaurant. There'd be a riot, it's faerie music."
"...what?" says Sam
We explain the cultural phenomenon that is Sebona Fi. The song changes: Primadonna Girl, by Marina and the Diamonds.
"She's Welsh??" says Sam.
"She's from Abergavenny!" we beam.
"I don't know what that means," nods Sam, who is from Singapore.
Next: The Bartender and the Thief, by the Stereophonics. We're in high spirits. The extraordinarily Welsh wine arrives, as does the rarebit on sourdough starter. Sam, a gay man, delightedly orders the faggots and peas.
They play Ben Rhys by Gwilym Bowen Rhys, and we lose our shit again. Sam is now used to this, because comedians are adaptable. "They even have daffodils!" I say, misty eyed. "Is that relevant?" Sam asks, fascinated.
They play Hiraeth, by PLU. Hard to explain that one. Very hard to explain the effect it has when it's played in a restaurant, but Sam looks around the suddenly muted room and whispers "Are we in church?"
"It's about Hiraeth," whispers Steff. "So kind of."
Next: the Masses Against the Classes, by the Manics. Utter tonal whiplash. This playlist is not remotely restaurant appropriate. It's perfect.
"You'd think they'd pick like... a genre," Sam says dreamily. "We just went from church to the barricades."
The faggots arrive. "I forgot it would be a western sized portion," Sam says morosely, of what to me is a normal sized plate of food. He tries one, and brightens.
They play Sebona Fi.
The place erupts.
#I am going back there#going to try the rarebit next time#and the popcorn cockles#WALES!#closed for cleaning on mondays

she’s the boss | sebastian vettel
ferrari team principal!reader
an: for fanfic purposes, sebastian won a championship with ferrari let me be delusional sorry lewis
2015
A new season of formula 1 had started and with it came the arrival of Sebastian to Ferrari. While Sebastian was dominating the track with Red Bull, you stayed with the red team and in 2014, you were declared the new team principal. Of course the news made headlines. A woman as team principal for one of the top teams in formula 1? Would Enzo Ferrari approve of this?
But you were determined to prove you belong with the team. That was something Sebastian admired about you.
Race after race, Kimi and Sebastian finished in the points. It was clear that the season was Ferrari’s season. After each race, you always made sure to watch Kimi and Sebastian on the podium. Each podium, Sebastian made sure to wink at you. Sometimes he would even mouth a few loving words towards you.
After Sebastian’s victory in Singapore, the German had asked you to meet him for a celebratory dinner. Thinking he had asked Kimi and others from the team, you didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until he knocked on your hotel door that you finally figured it out.
“So is this a date?” You asked.
“Only if you want it to be.” Sebastian replied.
“You are such a flirt, Sebastian Vettel.” You playfully rolled your eyes.
“I’ve been told that, but it sounds so much better coming from you.”
Soon, you and Sebastian were on your way to a restaurant that he thought you would love. It wasn’t too fancy, but it was perfect for you two.
Sebastian, being the gentleman he is, made sure you felt comfortable at all times. Instead of talking about work, he wanted to get to know you better. He learned that you always loved the color red, about your siblings and that when you were younger you had a massive crush on Patrick Swayze. When your food came to the table, Sebastian took the opportunity to ask something he’s been dying to know.
“Do you think we can go on another date soon?” Sebastian asked.
“I want to, but what if the FIA thinks what we’re doing is inappropriate?”
You enjoyed being around Sebastian. Not only was he a great driver, but he was an even greater person. He always made you laugh and comforted you when you needed it. It was hard not to fall in love with Sebastian Vettel.
“Sebastian, I don’t want either of us to get fired.” You told him.
“I guess we’ll have to sneak around. God, you make me feel like a teenager again.”
So that’s what you did. Before every race, you would sneak into his driver’s room and give him a good luck kiss. He insisted on getting one from you every race, you didn’t kind of course.
It was the last race of the 2015 season and Sebastian was fighting Lewis for the championship. You were nervous, but confident that Sebastian would bring home the title. It felt like a dream come true seeing Sebastian come in first while Lewis came in third.
“Sebastian Vettel, you’re the world champion! You did it, Seb!” Sebastian heard you on the radio.
“This one’s for you!” His message warmed your heart. If only you could truly celebrate as a couple without hiding.
At the podium, Sebastian was all smiles. Who wouldn’t? He had just one his first championship with Ferrari. It was a dream come true. While you stayed with the team, Sebastian celebrated on the podium with Kimi and Lewis.
“Y/n, you’ve been called to the stewards.” Sebastian’s race engineer, Riccardo, told you. “Have we been given a penalty just now? Do you know something?”
“No . . . If Sebastian asks, tell him I’ll see him later. We have no penalty, I’m sure of that. This is probably not serious.” You tried to play it off, but he wasn’t buying it.
“Okay, if you say so.” Riccardo gave you a hug before you left.
As you walk to the stewards, people around you called your name followed by congratulations or a hug. At the moment, you didn’t even feel like celebrating. All you felt was the nerves going through your body.
Finally, you made it to the stewards office ready to face what was coming. Would you be fired for being in a relationship with one of your drivers? You hoped not.
You entered the office and saw the FIA president, Jean Todt, looking over race footage. When he noticed you, he smiled. You weren’t told he would be attending the race.
“Y/n, congratulations to you and Ferrari. You have done a great job. I hope I didn’t interrupt any celebrations yet.” Jean told you.
“No, Sebastian was still celebrating on the podium when i was called here.” You tried your best to look fine, but deep down you were scared.
“Speaking of Sebastian, he’s a great driver, isn’t he?” Oh no, here it comes.
“Yes, Ferrari is honored to have him and Kimi as well. They’re both incredible drivers”
“But what do you think about Sebastian?”
Suddenly you couldn’t take it anymore.
“Jean, you know I respect you and Ferrari and Formula one so much. I don’t want to lose my job. I love this team to death. I understand what I did was inappropriate and it will never happen again, I swear by it. But if I’m no longer the team principal, I understand.” You blurted out.
All Jean did was chuckle. What?
“You think you’re fired? Y/n, Ferrari just won another championship and you think I’m going to fire you? The team would be crazy to let you go.” Jean spoke.
“Can I ask why I’m here then? Did Sebastian get a penalty?” You gasped. It would absolutely crush you if Sebastian got a penalty and he got his championship taken away.
“No, no! You’re here because I wanted to congratulate you and Sebastian on your engagement.”
What?
“I’m sorry?” You stood there more confused than ever.
“Marriage is a beautiful thing. I’m not yet married, but i know it is. I’m sure you and Sebastian will be very happy with each other.” Jean said. “I don’t want to hold you here for much longer. I don’t want Sebastian thinking you were kidnapped. Congratulations.” Jean gave you a hug.
Again, you were so confused. Did he know something? As you left the office, you saw Sebastian waiting outside with a concerned look on his face.
“What happened? Hey, talk to me.” Sebastian grabbed your hand. He was surprised you didn’t pinch or gave him a look for grabbing your hand in public.
“Did you say something to Jean about me?” You ask him.
“Like what? You know I always talk about you.” Sebastian replied. It was true. He took any opportunity to talk about you.
“Well he congratulated us on our engagement, which I didn’t know about. When were you going to tell me we were engaged?”
Oh shit, thought Sebastian.
“I might’ve told Jean that I loved you so much that I would marry you as soon as possible. To be fair, i was drunk! But that doesn’t mean it’s a lie!”
All you could do was laugh. At least he wasn’t the type of drunk to cause problems. You found it cute that he said that when he was drunk actually.
“You’re unbelievable, Seb.” You smiled at him.
“So you think we should do that? Get married?” He placed a kiss on your hand.
“When the time comes around. Come on, champ, let’s celebrate.” You finally kissed him not caring that others were around you. You were done hiding.

2013, Marina Bay Street Circuit
Sebastian was on an all-time high, he was winning on and off tracks. The championship was within his reach with each race he wins and his personal life is flourishing. He had felt the championship euphoria before but being in that podium and seeing Y/N proudly looking at him from below is something else.
Despite the energy burst, he opted to stay out of the Singapore night life and return to his hotel room. He didn't feel like mingling in sweaty clubs or the taste of intoxicating drinks tonight. Besides, he has a dinner at a skyline restaurant with a very beautiful girl so he has to change quickly.
Whistling down a happy tune as he texts a message to Y/N. There was nothing in this world that could ever ruin his happiness and that was a word spoken to soon.
When he turns the corner, there was someone that Sebastian didn't want to see.
"Oh Sebastian, thank God. I have to speak to you and its really important-"
"Hanna? What are you doing here?"
Sebastian's voice was mixed with confusion and anger. The past few meetings with Hanna was not a good memory for Sebastian and he could only feel as if trouble follows whenever he meets her.
"Are you stalking me?"the driver asked
The woman in front of him went red in embarrassment. She could understand why Sebastian would think that way but she was in a desperate attempt to talk to him.
"I know this looks bad but I had a friend here who told me where you would be staying and I needed to talk to you. I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't important"Hanna rambled.
"Didn't I make myself clear last time that Hanna I do not return any feelings for you and I'm really sorry if you thought a relationship could blossom between us because its never going to happen"Sebastian stated.
It would be a lie if Sebastian didn't notice how Hanna winced by the directness of his voice but he has to keep his boundaries. He doesn't want anything more to jeopardize what he is working on with Y/N. He will not be a man that will be unfaithful to her.
"But Sebastian, you have to listen. This is something big and this is something that I can't do alone"Hanna was begging.
"I'm sorry Hanna but whatever that is, I'm sorry but I couldn't be of any help"Sebastian ended the conversation.
He passed her by and shut the door in front of her. It was painful for Sebastian to hear the cries of his once childhood friend at the other side of the door but she has to learn that Sebastian cannot return her feelings back.
"You're not even listening to me Seb. You didn't even give me a chance to tell you about us"Hanna thought silently cradling the bump on her stomach.
2013, Suzuka Circuit
It was Y/N's dream to go to Universals Studio Japan to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She mentioned this a couple of times but due to the distance between the circuit and Osaka, she always missed the opportunity.
"I still can't believe that you are taking me to Harry Potter"Y/N squealed, excitement was evident on her face.
"We still have a long way to go, they told me its a 2 hour drive" Sebastian noted "You can still grab some sleep"
"I should be the one telling you that, you just finished driving for the weekend and now you are driving at an ungodly hour of 7 in the morning"Y/N voices her concern "Don't you ever get tired of driving?"
"For you? Never"
Sebastian's hand found its way to Y/N's and he placed a gentle kiss. His eyes were still focused on driving and the road but he could see in the mirror the red tint on her cheeks.
For some it would be tiring to go on long drives. Sebastian thinks otherwise, he feels like he is the luckiest man alive to be able to go for long drives when she is at the passenger side.
"Do you have a list of which part of the Harry Potter world are we going first?" Sebastian wondered.
"Well maybe we could go and get some of those butterbeers and then we can explore the whole park. I wanted to try that rollercoaster that looks like Hagrid's bike and then the castle. I also want to buy some candies for Mick"Y/N listed down.
She looked up from her phone and she felt like she was being selfish not asking Sebastian about what he wanted to do. She wanted to do a face palm.
"That is if its alright with you? Maybe you want to go somewhere specific in Universals?"Y/N offered.
"Oh no, its alright. I'm good wherever you are happy. This is your day and I want you to enjoy the whole Harry Potter experience"Sebastian insisted.
Y/N thought he couldn't love Sebastian even more but she just did. She knew how Sebastian was not that big of a fan of Harry Potter, he didn't even know the names of the golden trio in the beginning. He just started to get into it because she was rambling all the time about it.
"Speaking of the Harry Potter experience, you can check the backseat because I believe there is a surprise for you there"Sebastian chuckles.
At the backseat, Y/N found two boxes. One has her name on it with a big black bow ribbon while the other had a scribbled vettel on it. She picked it up confused to what is Sebastian plotting now.
"Since when did you get all fancy?"
"I asked my Mom about it"Sebastian admits "Go and open it"
Once the bows were untied and the lid was lifted, there was a rustle of wrapping paper. Y/N couldn't believe her eyes upon seeing the emblem on the cloth.
"You got me robes?"Y/N can cry "And you got my house right!"
Sebastian will admit that he researched a couple of days ago about how to make this experience really special. Some said that the school robes was a good outfit to make the person feel like they are attending Hogwarts. He made some few calls here and there then tada he acquired some of the Hogwarts robes just like what was seen in the movies.
"So did you get a Slytherin robe?"Y/N asked, she often teased Sebastian that he could be F1's Draco Malfoy.
"Well I think I had to surrender, my Pottermore results said that I was a Slytherin"
"You took a Pottermore quiz and you didn't tell me right away?"
2013, Buddh International Circuit
The Taj Mahal looks exquisite with the sun setting at the back of it. Everyone was on their phones or their cameras to capture the moment but Y/N prefers sitting at one of the benches and preserving it in her head. There was something really peaceful to just live in the moment but she doesn't blame if people wanted something physical to commemorate this moment.
Maybe Y/N wanted to savor this moment of peace because by tomorrow she will be back in the paddock with all the different noises. She knows that there will be a lot of questions in the next few days following Mark's decision of leaving Formula 1.
She did not blame Mark, she understands that he has been doing this for quite some time now and he was bound to be burned out. She has also been thinking about retiring from this job but that would be happening in a few more years. The thought of retiring scares her because her life basically revolved around Formula 1. There was this idea that maybe if she doesn't have a job here then maybe she will lose everything that she have right now.
A heavy sigh escapes her mouth as she zoned out once more with the view.
"Mind if I join you?"
Y/N looked up and she saw the familiar grin of Sebastian Vettel. She gave a nod and gestured at the empty space at the bench.
"How did you know I was here?"Y/N asked.
"I didn't. We are doing some team video and then I spotted you here then I went ahead to say hello"Sebastian grins.
From behind Sebastian, she sees a filming crew at a distance. They seem to be distracted with Mark and the reserve driver Sebastien Buemi. Y/N acknowledges it with a smile then she proceeded to looking at the scenic view in front of her.
"You know when they told me about the Taj Mahal, I got reminded of us"Sebastian opened up "The two met when they were young and its love at first sight then they got married"
The thought of the very first time that Y/N saw Sebastian and the first time they talked to each other, crossed her mind. It seems like it was just yesterday but its been a really really long while now.
"And I don't believe in coincidences, I think some things are meant to happen"Sebastian stated "When I saw you here, I was given the sign of the universe and maybe a sign from Taj Mahal that its really you that I would like to spend the rest of my days with"
Y/N felt overwhelmed by the direct confession. This was usually how Sebastian is, he was very vocal about his feelings but the implication in his tone is different. Y/N felt like they are moving a bit too fast but maybe she doesn't mind at all.
A small box was placed in her hand.
"This was my Mother's. I carried it around with me since we started to tell each other how we feel. I am not asking you to marry me but I just wanted you to have it because someday I'm planning to marry you."Sebastian concludes.
"Seb, I can't.. This is too much" she was speechless.
"There is no other woman that I see myself ending up with" Sebastian insist "Its yours just like how my heart is also yours"
The silver band with a pearl in the middle stares at her. She ponders about it even after Sebastian left her side. This was technically not a marriage proposal but rather a promise ring.
She prayed for a sign in the weekends whether she deserves to place it on her finger or not.
Needless to say, it was a very eventful weekend for Sebastian. He crossed the finish line with a World Championship. Even after winning all these years, he was still amazed by the winning feeling.
The crowd chants his name as he shows his praises to his winning car. He managed to find his way to the podium with the congratulations littering everywhere he go and every face was a blur.
However, he had to do a double take as he saw Y/N on the barrier. She was wearing a proud grin and pointing at something in her finger. Sebastian didn't have to be a genius to recognize the familiar ring on her finger.
It was a memorable weekend.
2013, Yas Marina Circuit
It was rare that Y/N gets to hang out with girls. Being surrounded by a lot of male bravado and testosterones can be a little too much which is why when there is an opportunity for her to meet another girl friend then she will make time.
Post qualifying sessions was a good opportunity as Jenson chooses to rest while the Red Bull boys are stuck in strategy meetings. Therefore, this was Y/N's window time to accommodate Hanna's request for dinner.
She couldn't wait to tell Hanna about the recent happenings with Sebastian or the latest gossip in the paddock. She was pretty sure that she might shock Hanna with the development of her love life. However Y/N was the one with a jaw drop when Hanna waddled in with a pregnant bump.
"Oh my God Hanna! Why didn't you tell me your pregnant?"Y/N was shocked "Are you okay or are you tired? Did you need to sit down?"
Hanna gives a weak smile, "just a little water"
"Of course, here. Sit sit."Y/N fuzzed "If I had known you were pregnant then I would have made reservations closer to your hotel"
"Y/N you're already treating me dinner"Hanna said
"I should be because I think I have been late in congratulating your little one"Y/N replied.
Hanna held her bump protectively. She was suddenly reminded the reason why she asked to meet Y/N. She was doing this to help her little one because she cannot afford that her child will grow up miserable.
"How far along are you?"Y/N wondered.
"About six… six months"there was an unease in Hanna's tone.
Hanna knows what she did and she knows what she is about to do. It plagues her mind how she could wipe the smile Y/N has right now with the bombshell of news that she has. Hanna blanks out as Y/N ramble about how she is so happy for her and the guilty feeling sinks even further.
"Y/N I have to talk to you"Hanna cuts her off.
It was better to rip the Band-Aid early than prolonging the agony.
"Oh we can talk later, lets get you some food first"Y/N dismissed. "I don't want you or your little one getting hungry."
The way that Y/N cares so much about Hanna makes the pregnant woman even more uneasy. Hanna noted how Y/N was so caring in asking her preference and she wonders if she would still be like that if she finally learns the truth.
Dinner went on smoothly with their chitchats of how life has been and how they are dealing with the changes. As time goes on, Hanna felt the gnawing guilt eating her even more which is why the minute the tables were cleared and the desserts were out, it was now time.
"I really need to talk to you about this Y/N"Hanna gestured at the bump.
There was a glee in Y/N's eyes, maybe she was thinking that Hanna is making her a godparent. Hanna tried her best to avoid her eyes because she cannot handle when her eyes starts crying.
"Now what do you want to talk about?"Y/N questioned.
"Im pregnant Y/N"it was now or never for Hanna.
If she could just change how things were then she wouldn't have been so stupid. She wouldn't have been in this situation right now and she wouldn't lose such a great friend like Y/N. However, this was a consequence of her selfish actions and now she will pay for it.
"I am well aware of that Hanna"Y/N grinned "and congratulations by the way. You should totally let me help you find some cute baby stuffs and-"

His older sister, Lee Rina, had no interest in the company, firmly convinced that it's a greedy industry. She moved to Norway to study and just never came back. But his older brother, Lee Haejun, was different. He was stuck on the idea of becoming the next CEO. After both him and Heeseung were old enough to understand what benefits came with being a leader of a major hotel line, they stopped treating each other like brothers, instead focusing on the rivalry that was brewing. They wanted so badly to prove to their father who's more competent, who deserves it more, that at one point it became too much.
Heeseung at one point no longer wanted any of it. He just wanted his brother back. Haejun just never was the same brother Heeseung learned to love. He didn't care, he wasn't kind. Heeseung felt like he lost both of his siblings although they weren't actually gone.
“I don’t think they mentioned you” you murmured, trying to recall the conversations you had with Wonyoung and Niki.
“Wonyoung and Niki? Probably because they don't like me” he laughed, and put out his blunt on the tiles of the balcony, throwing what was left into a jar filled with water.
“They like everyone, I think it’s a ‘you’ problem” you assumed, and he scoffed.
His body sluggishly stood up from the chair, as he tried not to fall over the balcony “Both of them are fake as fuck, and I don’t think you’re one to judge”
You sighed “You don’t know them”
“I know them better than you, transfer” he chuckled, “They always cuddle up to new students, just like Wonyoung did to Jake, and whenever they go slightly out of line, they drop them” he explained, and you foolishly didn't believe his words, choosing to stand with your new friends who you in reality, knew nothing about.
“I don’t know, I don't think the Jake that I just met, and got forced to drink by, is a good example” you murmured, playing with your hair, avoiding eye contact with the boy.
He had this dark aura surrounding him, his hooded eyes just adding into his image, making him look much more scary.
He slowly moved towards you, accompanying you on the silk covered bed. That’s when you could truly analyze his face; bloodshot, brown eyes, a curve to his lips, his nose slightly pointed and eyebrows straight. His skin was glistening, a soft tan to it. He looked at you so intensely, and you couldn't quite reciprocate, scared of his intimidating presence.
“Jake was always like this, they just didn't know how to handle him” he smiled, his hand inching closer to where your legs lied “They love saying that Jay ruined him, but he didn't even have to do that”
to be continued...

lost in japan — lando norris
lando norris x you (femreader) | 3.8k summary – a convincing late night call and a flight to japan. warnings – 18+ (sex, coarse language) inspo – ‘i like being close to you. you’re warm’ for the #monzamashspecial and that shawn mendes song – you know the one. masterlist
“Fly out and see me…”
“You know I can’t, Lando.”
This had been the back and forth for nearly half an hour, like a painfully long rally in tennis and neither one of you wanted to give up the point. Lando had been out in Japan for nearly a week, 5 days and counting and before that, Singapore and before that, Italy for training. He had always been at peace with the time he spent away from home, because up until now it had never really been a problem. Jet-setting across the globe, living out his childhood dream – on top of the world. Chained to nothing and nobody.
But then you showed up in those leather pants; it was all by coincidence and he was in trouble from the very beginning. He liked you. A lot. And you liked him but that one night on a breezy street corner in Melbourne had changed his perspective. Skewed beyond recognition, because now he had someone to miss. Someone who influenced his happiness, his contentedness and that was you. You had snapped up a spot in his cold, precious heart that he had guarded, locked away safely so he didn’t have to wake up to that sinking feeling in his gut, or look at his phone and have his mood drop when he didn't see your name in his notifications.
He was forlorn without you and even though it made him sick that he had ended up like this, he loved it. He took the good with the bad, every chance to hear your voice made it worthwhile and much to your surprise, you felt the same. Infatuated and swept up in this new romance.
“Why not? If you give me a really good answer, I’ll stop asking,” Lando bartered as he trudged around his hotel room, kicking articles of clothing towards his empty suitcase in an attempt to clean up the mess he’d made over the last couple of days.
“Well for starters I have this thing called a job… I have responsibilities and I have my houseplants – you know how much they mean to me.”
A small smirk tugged on the corners of your mouth when Lando rolled his eyes, brow quirked. Even the shaky camera was able to capture his distain for your answer but he quickly bounced back, knowing that he wasn’t completely out of the fight if it was a couple of replaceable pot plants keeping you from dropping everything to see him. Surely he meant more than that.
“You love me way more though.”
“Definitely not,” You scoffed playfully and adjusted the loose, somewhat revealing top you'd been sleeping in before this late night call, “But I do miss you a tiny bit…”
Lando’s frown softened at your confession, one he’d been patiently waiting to hear. I miss you too; he sighed and walked into what looked like a bathroom, carefully balancing the phone on a shelf beside the mirror.
He was an enigma the night that you met him; a friend of a friend of a friend, someone had said when introducing the two of you at a swanky restaurant in the heart of the city. You had wondered why there was a last minute invite sent your way that afternoon, until your friend explained that her new work friend wanted to show their friend who had just flown in from England a good time. It was a confusing web of acquaintances but you agreed, knowing that whatever she had organised would be worthwhile attending.
Little did you know that the friend would have something to do with why your street was shut down for a week, making your daily commute fifteen minutes longer than normal. But when you looked into those stormy blue, or maybe they were hazel eyes, and grasped the hand he was holding out for you to shake, you didn’t care. In fact, nothing really mattered after the two of you pulled up a seat at the long table and continued chatting, drawn together.
“See something you like? …”
Lando’s tinny voice pulled you out of your daydreaming and snapped your eyes back to your screen. You cleared your throat and tucked a couple of stray hairs behind your ear as you watched him change out of his Phoenix suns shirt; his rippling muscles contracting caught your attention, perfectly sculpted under is sun-kissed skin. Beneath all the boyish charm and dripping sarcasm, he was sexy. And it was taking everything in your power not to give in and book a plane ticket to Japan as soon as possible.
“Nothing in particular but I do like that shirt,” You deflected with a smirk, wanting nothing more than to be crawling your lips all over his skin, tasting the cool mint mouthwash he was swirling and spitting out in quick succession.
“Might have to steal it when I see you next.”
“Which will be…?” Lando teetered off, hoping for sooner rather than later but you simply shrugged and closed your eyes, exhaling so deeply that a whistle rang through your nostrils.
Lando could tell you were battling internally with the idea, knowing that you wanted to see him just as much as he ached to see you. It’d been too long and with your situationship being so new, so hot – he was desperate to lock in a time or have at least a crumb to cling onto if nothing else. But he needed to be gentle, patient while you worked through all of the metaphorical plates spinning in your head.
“You can steal all of my shirts when you get here,” He sweetly stated, his attention full focused on your solemn expression, “Look, what day suits you the best and I’ll work around that.”
He was serving the ball in your court now, with the promise of taking care of everything else so you didn’t even have to think about it. Make the fleeting decision and the rest will be sorted. Except for the glaringly obvious hurdles you’d have to jump over to get the time off work that you knew Lando wanted you to have.
“Maybe Saturday…”
Lando groaned at your response, “But I’ll be busy all day Saturday.”
“Doing what?” You teased; lip firmly gripped between your front teeth as Lando rolled his eyes and ran his fingers through his messy hair in frustration.
“Ha-ha. Very funny,” He grumbled and titled his head back, chin and jawline tensed as he groaned loudly into the dark bedroom he was sitting in, “Come on – I’m blue-balling out here and you’re not here to help me… It's not fair.”
“Oh, so you just want me for sex?”
Lando’s eyes narrowed and a small smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth as he planned his next move, “No,” He sheepishly whispered, “But also not no… But definitely not just for sex because that would be wildly perverse and disgusting – promise.” Cheeky fucker.
You hummed, “Just so we’re clear, I’d just be coming out for the sex. Nothing more than that – can’t stand you, actually. Absolutely gross.”
Not even a beat passed before Lando's loud, high-pitched laugh filtered through your air pods, hand barely covering his face. The other was in your face, middle finger perfectly framed on your screen while you sat back and enjoyed the sound you’d missed so much; his laugh alone made you chuckle and forget all about your worries.
“Fuck you,” He cheekily retorted, wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes, “But what I’m hearing is that you’re coming out… I’m booking you a ticket right now so keep an eye out for the email, baby.”
Baby.
“Baby?” You asked, eyebrow quirked with intrigue.
“Shit, sorry…” Lando cursed under his breath, cheeks reddening as he clicked away on his phone, “It slipped out. Is it bad?”
You shook your head and balanced your chin on your knuckles, “No, I like it – makes me feel like we’re more than just strangers fucking around.”
“Oh yeah? And is that something you want to feel or?”
Now he was just being cocky.
It was your turn to roll your eyes and scowl, “Don’t push it, baby.”
“You can’t go calling me that with that tone and not be naked in this bed right now… You’re killing me.” His voice was strained, eyes dark.
You simply smiled and winked, “I will be soon.”
“Cannot fucking wait.”
It was raining in Osaka when you landed; the red eye flight causing your eyes to flutter close as you slumped in the back seat of the cab, silent. Bright headlights from the heavy traffic flashed behind your eyelids as the driver slowly made his way through the city streets, stopping every two seconds for pedestrians. You were in a foreign country; one you’d never visited before but you felt calm, safe to completely relax after the tenuous eleven hour flight.
Lando had messaged you the address to the hotel he was staying at and let you know he’d left his spare key card for you downstairs at reception. You shyly asked the attendant for the card he left, feeling a little dirty at the insinuation that you were there for a good time, not a long time. A thought entirely in your own head as the young lady gave you a polite smile and sent you on your way.
Because of Lando’s efforts to go above and beyond making your journey as stress-free as possible, you hadn’t bothered messaging him when you landed or even checked to make sure he was at the hotel. Only having carry-on gave you the freedom to jump off the plane and into a cab – no time to really think about the logistics that you had been reassured were taken care of. All you could think about was the instinctual pull you felt to get to him as quickly as you could.
Maybe you should’ve messaged. Given him the heads up as you tiptoed through the long hallway, past the large lounge room and kitchen that was bigger than your own back home. It was massive and as expected, exuding luxury. You could tell from the facetime yesterday that he was living large in the penthouse suite, indulging in all the lavish things life as a professional athlete promised. It was too much but you weren’t complaining when you touched the plush robes hung up on the back of the bedroom door or when you saw how huge, and enticing the bed was.
You let your mind wander to the possibility that maybe, just maybe you could get used to this but as soon as that thought emerged, you flicked it away. The gentle sound of running water echoing drew your attention to the door on the other side of the room, closed and most likely locked for privacy, or so you assumed.
Your feet were gliding you towards the sound, hand reaching for the handle before your brain had even registered what you were doing. Impatience and temptation were fuelling all of your movements as you clicked open the door and let out a cloud of steam, warmth instantly hitting your face as you took a couple of steps over the threshold.
“Hello?” You softly called out, not wanting to startle Lando but failing as you heard a shallow gasp from behind the steamed glass. His hand hit the pane and smudged away the moisture obstructing his sight, his narrowed eyes bloodshot from the water but he could see you, wondered for a second if you were a ghost in the fog but grinning when he realised you were here. Really here.
“Holy shit…” He breathed out and pushed open the glass door, thrilled that you were already unzipping your jeans and tugging the tight shirt from your shoulders. He didn't even have to ask.
“You scared the absolute shit out of me.”
He almost giggled as you skirted your underwear down your legs, the cool air sending chills down across your skin, “Let me in, quick!”
Lando moved aside with another chuckle, hands grasping your waist as you searched for warmth, a sigh of relief exhaled when you felt the hot water rushing over your back, eyes closed and skin tingling from the gentle touches trailing down your spine. You fluttered your eyes open; smile etched on your face as you looked up and took in your surroundings. Took in him.
“Hello.”
“Hi.”
Lando whispered back as you reached out and placed your hands on his chest that was glimmering with water droplets the same size of his birth marks and freckles. Misshapen and lovely. The scent of lemon and sandalwood mingling together filled the air, his skin still slick and soapy from being interrupted mid-shower but he didn't care. Not one bit.
Your fingers danced across his beating heart, tracing small circles on his shoulder before gazing up through your lashes, smile coy.
“I made it…”
“You did… and you’re real,” So real he could feel you and see, for the first time in over a month, how you reacted to his touch.
“How are you real?”
“That’s way too philosophical for my mushy brain so just shut up and kiss me, please,” You teased, tone soft and arms snaking around his waist to bring his body closer; chest stuck perfectly against yours.
“That I can do,” Lando sang back as he grasped your slack jaw in his hands and pulled you in, lips tied in a wistful kiss.
It wasn’t an ordinary kiss. It was a Lando kiss, which up until this point in your life you’d never experienced before now. You felt sparkly, giddy yet set alight, burning with desire – all rolled into one wild emotion. At first you mistook it for lust, merely a physical attraction that would slowly fade away, never felt again. But it was lust disguised when you felt it for the second time and then the third and forth time, the fifth and so on.
The feeling never faded and remained even when you were miles away, kissing through the phone and pretending you were together, touching one another. Chasing that feeling over and over again.
His lips moved so perfectly with yours, in sync and the taste on his tongue reminded you of a warm summers day down on the beach, cocktail in one hand and his fingers intertwined in the other. It was visceral and destined, like you’d kissed him a million times before; but what you were doing with him was all so new, so fresh, so fucking exhilarating that you hadn’t even realised he’d moved his lips to your neck, the soft spot beneath your ear being gently nibbled by his sharp teeth.
“You smell so good... like the first night we fucked,” Lando mumbled against your supple skin, eliciting the tiniest whimper to slip from your parted lips as he brushed the palms of his hands over your perky nipples.
“Hello to you,” He whispered, pressing a soft, smirking kiss to the top of your left boob before moving to the right, “And hello to you.”
“Oh my god,” You groaned at his words, barely slapping his bicep but still making him flinch, as his breathy giggle fanned across your chest, “Such a dork.”
Lando removed his lips, reluctantly and stood up straight again, slightly towering over your smaller frame, “I remember you saying that you liked that about me…” He defended and suggestively winked, slowly walking you out from underneath the stream of water and towards the shower wall.
“I think it came up when you were touching yourself and moaning my name… Maybe? Can’t quite recall,” He toyed, knowing exactly what had happened last week when you texted him, ‘call me asap’ in the middle of the night.
“You are doing a lot of talking for a guy who replied with ‘I’m watching the new episode of Mandalorian, can’t call’, after I sent you a photo of me literally naked… You know what, maybe I should leave you hanging, now that you’ve so kindly brought it up.”
The whiny protest and strain in Lando’s eyes softened when he felt your hand graze his thigh, fingernails lightly scratching the skin so close to where he had been aching for you. He gasped at the sensation, starved of anyone’s touch besides his own for far too long. Your eyes met in the middle, a humorous smile twitching on the ridge of your mouth when he sucked in a deep breath and his bottom lip with it as you wrapped your hand around him, twisting gently.
Long strokes sent his eyelashes fluttering shut as he pushed you against the wet titled wall; skin slapping as your back made contact. His head was titled back from the pleasure coursing through his veins, somehow still attached to his body as he let out a strangled moan. He couldn’t think straight – the words magnificent and mind-blowing tumbling around his empty head until he heard a squeak and cracked open his eyes to see you turning around, hands pressed against the crimson tiles.
He noticed a hunger burning behind your stare when you glanced over your shoulder, ass brushing over his cock like a woman starved.
“I’ve been dreaming about this ever since I left your place in London,” You confessed as Lando dipped his head and trailed open-mouthed kisses down your back, "Think about it so much."
“Fuuuck,” He grumbled as you rolled your hips steadily, stroking him between your slightly parted thighs with a raspy moan, “Shower sex specifically?”
Lando’s question was punctuated with his tip nudging forward, gliding over your clit before sinking slowly into your warmth with a gruff exhale, “Shiiit.”
A soft giggle slipped from your lips as you leaned forward and rested your forehead against the wall, droplets of water dripping down the ceramic onto your flushed cheeks. Chills crawled down your spine as Lando roughly grasped your hips, fingertips kneading the skin as he slowly fucked into you.
“Shower sex had crossed my mind but honestly, I imagined it all…”
“Did it feel this good?” Lando asked with a knowing smile on his lips as he rocked into you, slow and steady, sensing that the occasion called for something gentle, "Because it didn't in my imagination." You shook your head and grasped his wrist, needing to feel his large hand on your stomach, “Not even close, baby… I want it all.”
Hearing you stake your claim for his heart and hint that maybe you wanted more than just a couple of one night stands strung together sent a surge of serotonin through Lando's hazy mind. It may have started that way; a subtle mention of 'no strings attached' so you could both keep your hearts safe but the countless hours talking on the phone, venting about your day as if you’d known each other for years proved that it was more. The way his touch set every inch of your skin alight proved to you that he was more.
He was the match to your fuse.
A gasp slipped from your lips when he pulled out, the emptiness feeling like a punishment for god knows what but Lando was quick to spin you around and pin your back against the cold wall, “Need to change it up otherwise we’ll be calling it a night very early.”
“Can’t handle the heat?” You teased, hoisting your leg to wrap around his thigh as he stretched you out again; eyes closing for a split second to adjust to his firm thrust.
“Oh, I’m doing great, pretty girl. Dunno about you though...” Lando whispered the last part as his hand skimmed down between your legs, thumb gliding over your sensitive nub ever so lightly – enough to have you hissing in pleasure.
“I am going so good..." You exhaled, trying to keep your cool but the scrunched up brows and slack jaw exposed you and he couldn't help but admire how fucking beautiful you looked meeting his snapping hips, deliciously synchronised .
"Keep touching me like that.”
You unclasped your claws that were digging into Lando's muscular biceps and slung your arms loosely over his shoulders, chest to chest and you could feel his heart beating. It was pumping under the taut skin, thrumming against your own as he rocked his hips into you, long, teasing strokes that were clouding your mind with all sorts of dangerous thoughts.
“I like being this close to you. You’re so warm and soft and god…” He rambled off with a moan and a gritted smile as you opened your eyes and held his face in your hands, smiling back.
“I like it too.”
The words got tangled in your throat as your nails dug into the back of his head, the pace now quickening to a level you’d never really been before with Lando. Sure, you'd had sex but this was different. It was pent up, building to an unparalleled crescendo that was washing over the both of you quicker than expected. Loud moans being swallowed in a desperate kiss, hands fumbling to grab hold of any inch of skin they could to pull you through your earth shattering high. Screams muted by the sound of running water.
And all you could do was ride it out while Lando held you upright, palms shaky and fingertips barely holding on as he dipped his head into the crook of your neck; curls tickling the sultry skin. The air was thick, humidity making everything sticky as your erratic breaths rattled against one another; chests connected, limbs tangled together as you stood under the water.
Wow, was all Lando rasped with no attempt of untangling himself from your embrace until your trembling fingers traced down his back, nails dragging over his supple skin finall brought him into your vision once again. Eyes misty and tired.
“I’m really pruny.” He stated and held up his wrinkling hand; a shy smile appeared on his plush lips as you laced your fingers with his.
You hummed and tucked a couple of the damp curls that had fallen into his face behind his pointy ears, “Shall I suggest continuing this on that massive fucking bed sitting in the middle of a room that’s bigger than my apartment?”
Lando chuckled and ghosted a soft, heart-racing kiss to your pursed lips as he reached for the towel he’d set out for himself, “It’s stupid how massive it is,” He bashfully confessed, wrapping your shivering body up and guiding you out to the warm bedroom.
“It’s… Lavish and maybe a little silly.”
There was comfortable silence as you glanced around the room again, noticing the pile of clothes that Lando had been kicking around on your call yesterday, “Yeah, sorry about the mess. I was gonna clear up but I didn’t expect you to get in so early tonight – I'm bad with time zones and all that shit.”
“Well you have a lot to keep track of with all the travelling so that’s understandable and don’t worry about the clothes, my floor is ten times worse than this.”
There was something familiar in the way you soothed his nerves and made his anxieties melt away with your words. He liked that about you, that no matter what stupid thing he’d said or done, you were either backing him up or affectionately ribbing him before mollifying his worries.
“Can’t wait to see it in person soon,” Lando blurted out, not even thinking about whether that was something you wanted or if your reassuring words warranted that intense of a response.
But you smiled and nodded, again, easing his blushing cheeks that were still burning from his high only minutes ago. There was a comfortable silence as you stood up from the end of the bed and let him bury you in one of the big, fluffy robes you’d noticed on your way in – the gold italic ‘H’ shining under the down lights as you tied the belt up, watching Lando do the same.
“Very soon, I hope.”
You sealed the promise with a kiss to his bottom lip, praying that you could be more than just a stranger he’d met by happenstance. More than an acquaintance who was simply a way to pass the time while he was away from home. Away from his creature comforts.
And if he did need you in his life like you needed him, then you definitely wanted to be his friend. Maybe more.

September 22nd, 2024 - Marina Bay, Singapore
The roar of engines filled the air at the Marina Bay Street Circuit as Lando Norris crossed the finish line in first place, securing his third win of the season. The cheers from the McLaren garage echoed through the paddock, blending with the jubilant celebrations from the sea of orange-clad fans. Lando pumped his fists in the air, the victory a monumental one—not just for him but for the championship standings. With this win, he inched closer to Max Verstappen, reigniting hopes for the drivers' championship.
In the McLaren garage, Max Fewtrell and Pietra Pilão leaped from their seats, cheering louder than anyone around them. Max wrapped Pietra in a bear hug, both of them bursting with pride for their best friend. The atmosphere was electric, their excitement mirroring the thousands of fans chanting Lando’s name.
Thousands of miles away, in Columbus, Ohio, Amelie watched the race unfold on her tablet, her heart racing with every turn. The Nationwide Arena was abuzz with activity as her team prepared for the Short n Sweet tour, but Amelie had carved out time to catch the race. Her messages to Max and Pietra had been incessant—play-by-play reactions, endless emojis, and voice notes filled with excitement. When Lando crossed the finish line, she sent a final message.
Amelie: Tell him to call me as soon as he can after the interviews. I don’t care if he’s covered in champagne—I NEED to hear his voice!"
The post-race celebrations began with the podium ceremony, champagne sprays flying as Lando, Max, and Oscar basked in the spotlight. Lando’s smile was unstoppable, his eyes glinting with pride and determination. He was still catching his breath when the post-race interviews began.
The usual questions came first: about tire strategy, overtaking moments, and his approach to the final laps. Lando answered them all with the practiced ease of a seasoned driver, though his gaze occasionally drifted toward the McLaren team celebrating in the background.
Then came the unexpected question.
—Lando, congratulations on the win. It’s your third this season, putting you even closer to Max in the standings. But I have to ask—how’s Amelie doing? Did she get to watch this incredible race?—
Lando’s grin softened, the kind of smile that only came when he thought about her. —She’s good,— he said, his voice warming. —She’s rehearsing for her tour right now, so she’s thousands of miles away. But knowing her, she definitely watched. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was screaming at the screen.—
The reporters chuckled, and one added, —She’s been quite the good luck charm this season, hasn’t she?—
—She’s a lot more than that,— Lando said, a bit shy but undeniably in love. —But yeah, I’m lucky to have her support, even from so far away.—
The celebratory dinner at a nearby restaurant was lively. Max Fewtrell was recounting stories about his and Lando’s antics from their younger days, while Pietra snapped candid photos to capture the evening. But amidst the chatter and laughter, Lando couldn’t stop glancing at his phone.
—Just call her already,— Pietra teased, nudging him with her elbow.
—Yeah, mate,— Max chimed in. —You’ve been smiling at your screen like a lovesick puppy all night.—
Lando rolled his eyes but didn’t argue. Slipping away from the table for a moment of quiet, he finally hit the call button.
The screen lit up, revealing Amelie with damp hair and a towel wrapped snugly around her. —Took you long enough,— she teased, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.
Lando raised a brow, his cheeky grin in full force. —Nice outfit. You always dress like this for me?—
—Don’t get used to it,— Amelie shot back, though her cheeks flushed. —Let me grab some clothes. Hold on.—
Lando chuckled as Amelie disappeared from view, the screen shaking slightly as she propped her phone against something. He could hear the faint rustling of fabric and the sound of a drawer opening, followed by her humming softly—a tune he recognized from her album. He leaned against the wall, his smile unwavering.
Max and Pietra peeked around the corner, not so subtly eavesdropping. Pietra had her hand over her mouth, stifling a laugh, while Max mimed Lando’s lovestruck expression dramatically. Lando shot them a glare, but it only made them laugh harder.
Amelie returned, now dressed in an oversized sweatshirt and shorts, her hair still damp but brushed back. —Okay, I’m decent. Now, talk. How does it feel to be the fastest man on the planet?— she teased, settling onto her couch.
Lando leaned closer to the camera, his grin widening. —Feels pretty damn good. Almost as good as hearing your voice.—
Amelie rolled her eyes, but the blush creeping up her neck betrayed her. —Smooth. But seriously, you were incredible today. I was screaming so loud I’m pretty sure the crew thought I was losing it.—
—Told you,— Lando said with a wink. —I could feel you cheering me on, even from here.—
They fell into easy conversation, Amelie asking about the race, the strategies, and the celebrations. Lando, in turn, wanted to know everything about her rehearsals, her setlist, and how she was holding up with the pressure of the tour.
—Exhausted but excited,— she admitted, tucking her legs under her. —The crews amazing, and the stage setup looks insane. I just wish you could see it in person.—
Lando’s smile faltered slightly. —I know. I hate that I’ll miss your birthday, too. It’s just... the schedule’s insane right now. But I promise I’ll make it up to you.—
Amelie sighed, her expression softening. —I get it, Lando. Really, I do. We both have crazy lives, and sometimes it sucks. But I’ll survive. Besides, the Mexican Grand Prix isn’t that far off. We’ll see each other then, right?—
—Right,— Lando nodded, though a flicker of guilt passed through his eyes. —Still, I miss you like crazy. Seeing your face on my screen isn’t enough.—
—You’ll manage,— Amelie teased, though her voice was warm. —Now, go back to your friends before they come looking for you. And don’t even think about skipping out on celebrating your win properly.—
Lando laughed. —Fine. But you better get some rest, superstar. You’ve got a big tour ahead.—
As they said their goodbyes, neither of them wanted to hang up, but eventually, the call ended. Lando stared at his screen for a moment, his thoughts racing.
Back at the table, Max and Pietra immediately pounced.
—So? How’s the pop star?— Pietra teased, sipping her drink.
—She’s fine,— Lando replied, but his grin gave him away. —Exhausted, busy, and, well... her usual amazing self.—
Pietra and Max exchanged knowing looks.
—Mate, you look like you’re ready to book a flight and crash her rehearsals,— Max teased, leaning back in his chair.
Lando’s fingers drummed on the table, his mind clearly elsewhere.
—You know, that’s not the worst idea,— he said suddenly, his gaze sharpening.
Pietra nearly choked on her drink. —Wait, you’re serious? Lando, her birthday is in what, a week?—
—Three days,— Lando corrected automatically, his cheeks flushing when they both laughed. —Look, I know I told her I couldn’t make it, but… I hate the idea of not being there. Especially since we’ll only have a few days in Mexico.—
Max raised an eyebrow. —Alright, Casanova, but how are you going to pull this off? You’ve got commitments. And sneaking away isn’t exactly your style.—
—Leave that to me,— Lando said, a spark of determination in his voice. He grabbed his phone, already searching for flights. —I’ll find a way. I just need to be smart about the timing.—
Pietra smiled, leaning her chin on her hand. —You’re really whipped, aren’t you?—
Lando shrugged, unbothered. —Maybe. But she’s worth it.—
As they finished dinner, Lando’s plan began to take shape. Between bites of dessert, he coordinated with his manager and checked schedules, determined to make the surprise happen.
The plan was crazy, and Lando knew it. But as he sat in the restaurant, surrounded by laughter and chatter, his focus was solely on making the impossible possible. For Amelie, it was always worth it.
The countdown to her birthday began, and with every passing hour, his excitement only grew.
Because for her, he'd do anything.

Singapore GP part 2
Masterlist
The sun bore down on the track as I settled into my car for Practice 3. The heat shimmered off the asphalt, making the circuit look like a mirage in the desert. My engineer’s voice came over the radio as I pulled out of the garage.
“Alright, let’s do a few race simulations. Keep it smooth, and let us know how the balance feels.”
The laps started off fine—steady pace, good feedback from the car. I was starting to feel the groove, envisioning how I’d attack certain corners during the race. But as I hit the apex of Turn 8, something felt... wrong.
“Uh, guys,” I said into the radio, frowning as I fought with the steering. “Something’s off. Feels like I’m losing power on the straights.”
“Copy that, we’re seeing it on the data. Box, box,” came the reply.
I limped back to the pit lane, frustration bubbling under the surface. By the time the mechanics started investigating, I was already out of the car, pacing near the monitors.
“It’s the ERS,” Marcus said after a tense ten minutes. “We’ll need to replace some components, but you’ll be fine for tomorrow.”
I nodded, exhaling sharply. I hated losing track time, especially during a session this crucial, but there wasn’t much I could do. As the minutes ticked by, I watched other drivers complete their runs, mentally taking notes while the mechanics worked on the car.
The next day, Qualifying loomed, and the pressure was palpable. By now, the car was fixed, and I was determined to make up for lost time.
Q1 was smooth—I managed to clock a competitive time and made it to Q2 without a hitch. The car felt sharp, responsive, almost like it was making up for yesterday’s troubles.
By the time we hit Q3, my nerves were a cocktail of excitement and determination. Every corner mattered now.
“Alright, let’s push,” my engineer said as I started my final flying lap.
The car danced through the corners, each turn feeling like an extension of myself. Sector one—purple. Sector two—green. I pushed harder through the final chicane, my tires squealing in protest as I crossed the line.
“P7,” my engineer said over the radio, his tone almost celebratory. “Great lap! Fernando is P6, this is a great look for the team.”
“What about Franco?”
“Franco in P12.”
I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding, a smile breaking across my face. P7. Not only was I starting in the top ten, but I’d qualified right behind my teammate.
As I climbed out of the car and waved to the fans, I caught sight of Fernando. He gave me a small nod of approval, a gesture that felt like a victory in itself, even if he wasn’t smiling.
Franco, on the other hand, was standing off to the side, shaking his head in mock disbelief when I passed him. “Alright, Hermosa,” he called out with a grin. “Don’t get too comfortable ahead of me.”
I laughed, the weight of yesterday’s frustration finally lifting. Tomorrow was race day, and I was ready to fight.
The city lights of Singapore reflected off the wet streets as the three of us stepped into a cozy restaurant tucked away from the chaos of the paddock. Franco had picked the spot, insisting that it was far enough from the main driver's haunts to avoid the usual media frenzy.
“Table for three,” Franco said with a charming grin as the host led us to a quiet corner.
I slid into the booth beside Lando while Franco took the seat opposite us. The tension from earlier—my battle in Qualifying, the weight of the weekend—started to melt away as the aroma of food filled the air.
“You know,” Lando began, glancing at me with a smirk, “you could’ve let Franco have P7. Would’ve been nice to have you further back so I wouldn’t have to worry about you at the start.”
I laughed, rolling my eyes. “Please, you got pole. Like I’m even in your mirrors.”
“Exactly my point!” Lando teased, and Franco chuckled as he picked up the menu.
As we settled into conversation, my gaze wandered across the restaurant. In the far corner, a table of familiar faces caught my attention—several other drivers were eating together, laughing and chatting like old friends. Fernando, Carlos, Pierre, Alex, and even Sergio were there. For a moment, I felt the sting of exclusion, but I tried to push it aside.
Franco noticed where my eyes had landed and cleared his throat. “You okay, Hermosa?”
I forced a smile. “Yeah, just... didn’t realize everyone else was here.”
“They always do this,” Lando said softly, his tone lacking its usual playfulness. “It’s kind of a thing. They keep it tight-knit, you know?”
I blinked, looking between the two of them. “You knew about this?”
Franco nodded, his expression serious. “We did. And we chose to be here instead.”
Lando leaned closer, his voice quieter but filled with sincerity. “Look, you don’t need them. They’re stuck in their little circle, and they don’t see what you do. You’re proving yourself every single weekend, and if they can’t see that, it’s on them.”
The lump in my throat threatened to choke me, but I managed a small smile. “Thanks, guys.”
Franco grinned, breaking the tension. “Enough of this sappy stuff. Let’s order before I starve.”
The night ended on a lighter note, filled with laughter and stories, the earlier sting of rejection fading as I realized that, with Franco and Lando by my side, I wasn’t entirely alone.
The humidity was oppressive as I sat in my car on race day, the grid bustling with activity. Lando was on pole, radiating confidence, while I prepared for the challenge ahead from P7.
The lights went out, and chaos erupted. I managed to hold my position through the first corner, but the car felt off almost immediately.
“Something’s not right,” I radioed in, fighting to keep control through Turn 5.
“Copy that,” my engineer replied. “We’re seeing it too. Keep pushing if you can; we’ll adjust strategy.”
For the next 15 laps, I wrestled the car, the balance off and the rear sliding unpredictably through the tighter corners. Drivers behind me loomed dangerously close, and I had to dig deep to keep them at bay.
Fernando, in P6, was a constant figure ahead of me. I could feel his presence as both a motivator and a challenge, his car tauntingly steady compared to mine.
Lap by lap, I fought back, leaning into the anger, the determination that had carried me this far. By the final stint, I found a rhythm, the car stabilizing enough for me to push.
When the checkered flag waved, I crossed the line in P6, a mix of exhaustion and relief washing over me.
“P6,” my engineer confirmed. “Well done, great recovery.”
As I rolled back into the pits, I caught sight of Lando climbing out of his car, his arms raised in victory. Pole to win—it was his day. But as he looked toward me, a smile broke across his face, and he gave me a thumbs-up.
Franco jogged over as I climbed out of my car, his grin as wide as ever. “See? I told you you’d survive. Now let’s go find Lando and celebrate.” I laughed, letting the tension of the race melt away.
Franco and I made our way through the bustling paddock, weaving through the sea of team personnel and media. The cheers from McLaren's garage were unmistakable, and it wasn’t hard to spot Lando—his beaming grin and the sea of orange-clad crew celebrating his victory made him stand out like a beacon.
“There’s our winner!” Franco called out, throwing an arm around Lando’s shoulders as soon as we reached him. “Pole to win, mate! And you were worried you’d choke!”
Lando laughed, shoving Franco lightly. “Please, I was never worried. Just making it look dramatic for you lot.”
“Sure you were,” I teased, stepping closer. “You looked ready to pass out on the grid.”
“I call that focus,” Lando shot back, sticking his tongue out before pulling me into a quick hug. “But seriously, thanks for coming. It means a lot.”
The celebration was warm and chaotic, with McLaren’s garage buzzing with energy. Oscar joined the group a few moments later, his quiet demeanor contrasting with Lando’s exuberance, but he was smiling nonetheless.
“Hey, Oscar,” Franco greeted with his usual charm, nudging me subtly. “You’ve met our girl here, right?”
Oscar nodded, his smile polite but genuine. “We’ve crossed paths a few times. Great job out there, by the way,” he said, glancing at me. “P6 with car troubles? That’s impressive.”
“Thanks,” I replied, genuinely surprised by his compliment.
“She’s been outdriving you for a while, mate,” Lando joked, earning a mock glare from his teammate.
“Careful,” Oscar warned playfully, “I’m still faster in the simulator.”
The banter flowed easily, and I found myself laughing along with them, the weight of the past few weeks easing with every joke and story shared.
At some point, Lando raised his drink—a bottle of water, still in full celebration mode but with tomorrow in mind. “To good races, great friends, and proving every doubter wrong.”
The four of us clinked our bottles together, the unspoken camaraderie cementing itself in the shared moment.
As the night wore on, I couldn’t help but notice how seamlessly Oscar fit into the dynamic. While quieter than Franco and Lando, he had a subtle wit that added to the conversation, and his genuine interest in getting to know me felt like a small but meaningful victory.
“Guess we’ve got a new regular for our dinner outings,” Franco remarked as we started to head out.
“Careful,” Lando quipped, “Oscar’s competitive. He might take over my friend spot.”
Oscar smirked. “Not a chance. I’m not sure I can handle both of you.”
We all laughed as we left the McLaren garage, the Singapore night alive with energy. For the first time in weeks, I felt like part of something bigger than just the race. It wasn’t about the rumors, the past, or the doubters anymore. It was about moments like these—building friendships that could weather whatever the world threw at us.
And as I walked back to the hotel that night, surrounded by laughter and lighthearted teasing, I knew one thing for sure: I wasn’t alone anymore.
