These are messy, but I highlighted some time ago some of my favorite lines from the original 2015 script for the Good Omens TV show.
Only for the pilot: In the Beginning.
You can see some changes were definitely made. Brrr.

Please enjoy the Good Omens Script
It's a pretty open secret that I hand out The Good Omens Movie Script (of the never to be made 1990s movie) to anyone who asks nicely or checks my current Dreamwidth. It was published in a small edition, and a pdf of it was very widely circulated in book fandom back in the day.
Someone broke all fan etiquette, and common sense, and the fourth wall and brought it to Neil Gaiman's attention, forcing a situation where people who had already read it would refuse to share it saying it was to respect Neil Gaiman. Me, I never really was very cool with this "I've got mine!" attitude. Incredibly irritatingly, people did circulate out-of-context quotes and used them to portray it as terrible, script!Crowley as abusive, and script!Aziraphale as a doormat. None of these are true: it is an extremely, extremely loose and weirdly Americanised adaptation, but it's fricking adorable, and so are its versions of Crowley and Aziraphale. (The characters who get done badly by are Madam Tracey and Brian, IMO - best to think of them as entirely different characters.) It lacks Terry Pratchett's grace, complex humanity and way with words (see also: GO S2), but it's laugh at loud funny at times and this version of the Ineffable Husbands is a seriously cute grumpy/sunshine couple. Also, it has Business Exec Satan.
All this led to the ridiculous and annoying situation of people who had never read it being derogatory of it, while, despite being published, it was in danger of becoming lost media and a lost opart of GO history. (See also: Revenge of the Old Queen and Rocky Horror.) So I'm sharing the link here. If you want to yell at me, I ask you to first consider why you want to respect Neil Gaiman's wishes on anything and reconsider your priorities. It's a damn pdf of something only eleven people own in hard copy.
Feel free to share, or to archive it yourself. If it gets taken down, let me know and I'll find a new home for it. Just be aware that I'm rarely on Tumblr so it takes me a while.

A Very Bad but Trying Very Hard Good Omens “minisode”
Set directly after Crowley’s “lift home?” in 1941
done as a fun little exercise between a friend and I. Tried to limit ourselves to five pages and match Neil Gaiman’s screenwriting style (which is hard in case you’re wondering).

Leaving this in the script is criminal
Blinking halo?? The theorists would have gone wild
AND its right after the “you go to fast for me” bit. The fandom would have lost it

"Boxing Day" - a Good Omens speculative minisode
Still in pain over the ending of season 2? Me too, but let it be said that I loved the minisodes. Back at the beginning of July I wrote a speculative minisode that, retrospectively, seems really resonant with the season we got. huh.
Written as a screenwriting exercise with @byleranalysis.

i don’t know whether or not this has been said before but something that always hits me right on the gut is in season two of good omens, when gabriel and beelzebub are reunited, the demons and angels are arguing and yelling about what to do with them—how they should be punished, if gabriel will be demoted, if beelzebub will be demoted, all that jazz, and aziraphale makes them all shut up says “why don’t we ask THEM” what they want. and gabriel and beelzebub say they want to be with each other. this wasn’t just
some one off thing. this is pretty obviously (to me) a comment on how the governments of the world treat lgbt people. no one asks us what WE want. it’s always “trans people can’t change their names without ____” or “gay men shouldn’t be in the media” or “gay people are indoctrinating out children” and there’s all these fucking AWFUL laws about what we’re allowed to do and what we have to do before we can do something as simple as get gender affirming care and being gay still has the fucking DEATH PENALTY in a bunch of countries and yes it’s better than it was 10 years ago but holy shit no one asks what we want. the government treats us like fucking objects and i’m fucking sick of it. the fact that that specific line was in there punches me in the stomach every time and when i heard it for the first time i came very close to crying. maybe this line was intentionally put in there as a little nod to how the governments treat us but even if it wasn’t it meant the world to me.

My Newest good omens book got here!!!! I am so excited to read the deleted scenes.
Tumblr media
I still don’t have all the versions I want. Thankfully, I am touring The University of Edinburgh this spring and can get some more of the UK versions. White script book has all the deleted scenes but UK to is postage sucks.

Reading the reblog comments on this is (mostly) really very lovely and supportive! Let's make sure Neil's wishes are respected so he can focus on writing season 3 😇😎🥰
I've noticed that people have started spreading the 1992 Good Omens script around. Please don't. If you've got it up, please take it down. There's a mess of serious and real legalities involved, and I don't want to have to start being a dick and asking for copyright takedowns and all of that, and I don't want to have to regret letting it out into the world. Just take it down, unshare, delete links. Thank you.

"GOOD OMENS" - Sometime, somewhere in Soho
Day II of me very subtly creating little parts I could play in "GOOD OMENS" season 3. Please tell me, if this is bothering you @neil-gaiman - otherwise, I'll keep writing and hoping and drinking lots of tea while doing so (I might have the bladder of a professional scuba diver one I get noticed) :`)

David Tennant talking about reading the S3 scripts at the Angels, Demons and Doctors con in Germany, 5.5.2024 (from official.gingerkat tiktok <3)
Q: So I read in an interview that Neil said you read the first three episodes. I don't want spoilers, but I do want to know what you thought of it. Like, do you think we will be-
David: It's awful. It's all going to shit. No, it's... what can I tell you? I can't wait. I can't wait to start.
Q: Are you satisfied with the third season?
David: Well, I don't know where it's going. I've only read the first half. Although I have read the final scene. He's already written it. I know.
Q: Do you change costumes a lot?
David: Do I change- what, in the final scene? I don't know what I can... I literally can't... obviously, I literally can't tell you anything. I can't tell you anything. But uhm, I think... I think, well, I'm very satisfied. I'm very pleased, and I can't wait to start again. All I'm sad about is that it's the final one because we'd be happy to go back to that every two years for the rest of my life, I think. But, yeah, it's definitely heading towards something.
