people will write the most aphobic or amatonormative essays on creativity or media in general and other folks will link it around like it's the most Beautiful and True thing that has Ever been Written and it's just something like
"more children's media needs to show characters having sex"
or "art is only good if it involves fetishes and is written by intensely sexual people because liking sex is normal and not being interested in sex is not and makes your writing Extremely Boring and Bad"
or "media that shows muscular or thin people is so sad because it will make other people want to be muscular or thin and then that will lower their libido and they will not be able to enjoy sex which is more important than health"

I know I'm not what I produce. But my inability to write lab reports in time has really bitten my lab partners twice this semester, saddling them with unnecessary amounts of work and stress. I don't know what to do.
#i didn't think i was this bad at writing#maybe it's partially the tiredness#am i gonna fail this lab class that most people get As in?#i might deserve to at this point#i tanked my midterm presentation too#even with a gracious extension from the professors#my journal club presentation was the only assignment i actually did decent on#and even then#this is why I'll never ever be a professor#and probably never a real researcher either#I'm good at analysis but i can't write for SHIT unless given tremendous amounts of time. and i don't even write badly#i just either write fairly well or i write nothing#and lately “nothing” seems to be winning more and more#vent#vent post

Remembering once again how much I dislike Edelgard von 3H as a character, and how I don’t think she’s a good example of morally grey writing at all and how when I was full force in this fandom, it felt like you weren’t allowed to hold that opinion. It was very “you can dislike her but admit she has good writing.” But genuinely— I have writing objections.
I low key think that Rhea is by far the best 3H/W3H ever did a morally grey character but has it been long enough to voice such a thing? Will I get pounced???
#Edelgard has inspired my own writing because I dislike how she was handled#my issue is that she’s transparent manipulation of pathos#I was starting to feel so defeated by the moe being used in place of earned tenderness#the writing was like ‘take these war crimes now she’s going to be uwu shy about her Byleth fanart and aw scary rats’#it felt cheap#her characterization is so good in ‘Edge of Dawn’#I wish that was stuck to more#But I just felt like they were trying to force me to like her with waifuness#plus I really found the weird political rhetoric of W3H in particular objectionable#there was this sense that people prolonging war by defending their homes were just as bad as the aggressors#good gracious me#this is not a personal attack on anyone who likes her#remember when I posted about someone telling me you can’t criticize characters people deeply love?#it was her#I’m opinionated#FE3H#fire emblem#three houses#you can’t say it’s misogyny because I like Rhea as a powerful flawed woman#her being both kind and ruthless at different moments was done well#Rhea was dumb in CF but it felt like 11th hour scrambling to make Edelgard retroactively right#fudge nuggets I’m remembering how awful it was#CF is like ‘let’s see how much we can poke people with sticks’#and then ‘look! they hit back! proof the poking was justified!’

Bro just got told last night by not one but two people “back during that wild period when we were having debates every day you were kinda pissing me off but I’m glad we’re out of that phase 👍”
Pffffft I mean yeah I totally stopped debating for fun because I could tell it was getting annoying and not because I just started getting more tired and inactive and couldn’t really be assed anymore. Wdym I could totally tell I was being annoying and pick up on that. That would be crazy if I just. Never realised. And kept doing it. Until I started getting to the stage where I figured nothing mattered anymore. And then just opted to occasionally yell my thoughts into the void on my Tumblr instead (but with old books instead of philosophy) because every time a debate-worthy topic came up I started to just go “I disagree with that so much but honestly I can not be assed to talk about it rn.” Yeah. No. I thought that too. Real?
