R.I.P. Dave Prichard (1963-1990)

“Pirates” was one of the roughly 20 songs Armored Saint demoed in the years between Raising Fear and Symbol of Salvation, and although it was rightfully excluded from the latter album for not fitting with the rest of the material, the song ranked as one of the best from that era.  It was arguably the most savage track the band ever recorded: John Bush seethed with a venom we really hadn’t heard before, and the rest of the band stormed the gates with unrelenting fury. Although the songs that wound up on Symbol of Salvation turned out to be the most aggressive, angry, and at times despondent music of the band’s career, “Pirates” took it to another level, replacing the slight timidity of Armored Saint’s earlier albums with straight-up violence, practically getting by on kill factor alone. Bush’s howling in the chorus alone proved that he was the guy to take Anthrax to the next level in the mid ‘90s.  Symbol of Salvation was a great album that finally lived up to Armored Saint’s potential, and it was perfectly aggressive and metallic.  But even it didn’t measure up to the pure frothing fury that was “Pirates”.

Marvel Announces Robbie Reyes Special for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month

For Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, Marvel Comics has announced a special "Marvel's Voices" one-shot spotlighting Robbie Reyes.

Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special #1 will feature three new stories.

Carlos Hernandez and Moises Hidalgo's tale will see what Robbie Reyes has been up to while stranded in the God Quarry and how his family and friends are dealing with his sacrifice.

Felipe Smith and Daniel Bayliss' story will see Robbie face off against and interdimensional enemy that will require his full power.

Melissa Flores and Jan Bazaldua's tale will feature the debut of Fantasma, who is a Ghost Rider created by Luciano Vecchio for the New Champions variant cover program in 2023. Isabella "Izzy" Alvarez is a roller derby champ with a cursed secret. She teams up with Robbie to defeat a horde of Hellhounds.

Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special #1 goes on sale on October 2, 2024. The special features a main cover by Humberto Ramos, a variant cover by J. Gonzo, and a variant cover by Gerrardo Sandoval featuring Fantasma.

Armored Saint - Carpe Noctem (2017)

Surprisingly, Armored Saint has only released one official live album, 1988’s Saints Will Conquer, which was basically an EP.  For Carpe Noctem, the album isn’t that much longer than Saints, but many newer songs are included and the sound of the band is stellar.  Long time fans will enjoy this release:
