I’ve done a similar response to this before here and mentioned something else about it here but I’ll go over it again since those posts are both from a while ago. also bear in mind I haven’t seen aya recently bc I don’t like it. okay let’s get into it

[also im gonna preface this saying maybe i sound very pessimistic but im ranting and its just gonna sound like im complaining because i am. i mean no real malice by the way. im simply a person with a blog.]

first off. they don’t use the show don’t tell as well as they could. in the what might have been montage, sure, they showed potential scenarios and how phineas felt (very briefly) when isa stopped visiting his backyard but it just feels so rushed. I get that they only had like 11 minutes to show it but idk there has to be another way to write it. or just not have it at all idk its just from a writing point of view the whole episode feels rushed and out of place from everything else continuity-wise. why not use little easter eggs planted in the show beforehand? operation crumbcake? pharmacists? meapless in seattle? god theres so many episodes with evidence that phineas liked her back even if he didnt know. just. continuity!!!!

second. why did their friends not try something sooner. it’s not like they didn’t know. like phineas seems to be okay with saying “i wish! i am so in the friend zone there” in front of his friends (that quote alone makes me lose my shit but that’s a whole other point) so clearly they knew about phineas. and isabella also wasn’t quiet about it (source: pnf s1-4). they had like four years of high school to do something and they planned it the day isa left for college? nah its just the least realistic thing ever for me. also them being 18 is like yeah okay maybe the slow burn was worth it and theyre way more grown up (i love a good slowburn) but ohhhhhh my god SURELY their friends were getting sick of them dancing around each other. just me?

third. and I’m sorry to ash simpson but oh my god I hate the character designs like They Would Not Fucking Look Like That. it almost feels like it completely disregards their arcs during the original summer. like yeah child chub disappears over ur teen years but sometimes it stays a little longer! make phineas less twiggy!! make isa look more like her mother! (am i about to redesign them again? whoops)

four. and i know this is no fault of dan and swampy but the show was about to end anyways and yet the entire friend group was paired off into hetero ships?? get fucking real. none of those kids are straight. realistically, i know it was a different time and gay marriage wasnt even legal in the us yet so it wasnt all that common to have queer romance on screen let alone on disney channel but like i said, the show was about to end. what were the disney channel execs gonna do? cancel it? lmao

five. "I am so in the friend zone there." "we are guys. we do not talk about our feelings." WHAT!!! i cant believe this shit is real. these lines of dialogue are canon. what the hell. what kind of message does that even send to younger, impressionable viewers? if ur a 10 year old boy watching that (ok fine maybe that isnt gonna stick with you forever but listen) and you go 'oh its okay to just bottle everything up and not tell my friends about my feelings about anything ever' that is insane! thats not how things should go!! like i get the whole "im so in the friend zone" and yes, this also has to do with the era but like if they wanted to be a more progressive cartoon that kids look up to and enjoy maybe they just. shouldn't have put that whole conversation in.

i barely have any problems with the b plot. in fact id watch the episode just for the kazoo solo. because that plot lines up with the continuity. i can totally see heinz having bowling night with perry and carl and monogram every week! i can totally see perry and monogram retired! and carl running owca and getting payed for it! that all checks out! that one makes sense and works with the canon! if they got that plot so right how did they get the a plot so wrong?

i can answer this question: fanservice. its an awful word, i know. act your age is a fanservicey episode which is why i think it crashed and burned. mml season 2 is rooted in the same issue: doof is very present and takes away from the original plot of the show. like, the one he wasnt even in until the last episode of s1. slightly getting off topic but it is the crux of the issue. fanservice doesnt make for good storytelling. even if it brings in the big bucks. at its core, telling the story the way it should be told is the best one. even if it pisses people off. a good portion of the viewers will still appreciate whatever ending the creators come up with. and no, im not saying phinbella shouldn't have become canon, in fact i really like the ship and all their dynamics, i just think they went about it the wrong way.

as someone who's written and published fic about them getting together in different universes (granted, they were from when i was younger so its mildly terrible. take them with a grain of salt) there are a lot of other ways to tell that story canonically. honestly, i think the best way of doing it was to keep it ambiguous. dont tell that story. let the viewers pick their own ending for phineas and isabella. maybe they dont get together after all. who knows!

Ok ranting time!!! (Im gonna try and keep it short but god do I have a lot of fun stories)

OKAY SO ACTUALLY THAT ONE WITH THE CHILDE COSPLAYER IS LIKE MY FAVORITE BC OF WHY I GOT IT

I went to a genshin panel that got done early, so the host/Neuvillette decided to do a mad libs with everyone. They said to try and keep the words genshin related so the first word I thought of was "tartagalicious" and after much debate with me and my friend decided that word would fall under adjective. So when they say they need an adjective I raise my hand and say it, and holy shit the Neuvillette took one look at me and was like "of course you of all people would say that." Anyway the Tartaglia thought that was funny too and they blew me a kiss and when I tell you I was FREAKING OUT- It's actually embarrassing how my friend had to calm me down. Anyway once the panel/mad libs was over I went and asked them for a picture, they said yes and now I have that silly little thing to remember :)

(also once again ranted about this on my writing blog but I'm still honestly processing it so uh yeah I'm talking about it here too) Anyway, I got to meet Alejandro Saab!! I paid $10 to get Jing Yuans quote with it but it was sooo worth it. That poster is like my favorite ever so I'm happy I could get him to sign it :) we also talked a little about the book "a court of thorns and roses" bc he was talking about it on stream the other day, which I sadly had to stop watching bc I didn't want spoilers. He said it's really good so far so I'm super excited to keep reading it!!

Also the second picture was another favorite of mine, I won't say who they are but they were actually so sweet and did a whole presentation on decora fashion after the j fashion show we watched. Plus I made some candi while we listened so I do also have a new bracelet!!

Another super exciting person to meet was cyber girl!!! (I don't remember her exact user sorry I swear I'm a real fan 😔) anyway they were so nice and I bought the cutest sticker for my laptop from their brand candy☆trap!

Most of the other pictures are just other amazing cosplayers I met some I chatted with others I just thought they looked cool so I asked for a picture

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of people that wanted to take a picture with me! I had 5-6 come up when I was dressed up as Zhongli, and 3 as Cirrus. To know people liked my cosplay so much that they want to take a picture that they'll keep makes me so happy. Like those people seriously made my day.

Okay I think rant is over, all in all I had a great time and I'm excited to go again next year, and (hopefully) not spend so much money there. (I currently have 11 dollars to my name but I'm working again soon so we're good >:D)

Oh im about to fucking rant and vent, i dont care that this is my porn blog im fucking ranting on here. Not to doxx myself but yo hurricane milton was actually fucking shit. Jesus christ, not only a leak in some room that idk the name of, causing my parents to be such little fucking bitches about it. And i was fucking high as hell. Do you know what thats like? Having to be a voice of reason for mfing grown ass adults in their 50's? While im high? Im literally having to lean against the wall to keep myself upright and yet im still being more reasonable than both of you. I shouldnt have to straight up tell you guys to take turns talking. Then there was a leak in my room, which genuinely was the least worrying thing. Like it got close to my pc WHICH I BUILT, literally my prized possession, but i cleaned it up. Too bad i had a pad of watercolor paper go to waste. And ughhh im lucky my house wasnt destroyed but oh my god my entire, basically my entire town, has no electricity. Every single streetlight is down and oh god the people here cant fucking drive they're literally yelling at each other every second. AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT THE ELECTRICITY WONT COME BACK UNTIL AT LEAST WEDNESDAY. its friday now. it was gone since Wednesday night. Ugh im glad we have a generator. But oh my fucking god. The worst. Absolute worst part about this. Is that both my parents are just home, since they cant work. Im literally walking most of the day, in my boots bc i refuse to buy walking shoes, bc i cant stand being at home. And yeah i should invest in some good shoes, they're no more than 30 bucks probably. But i genuinely refuse to spend money. Im fucking broke and im saving up for college rn bc my dumbass was so fucking dead set on leaving this fucking state, absolutely going no contact with family but that didnt fucking work out. I didnt do any backup bc well god being alive was so much fucking effort and it still is. I would do anything but be next to my parents bc genuinely there isnt one conversation where they point out smth wrong with me or judge me. And yet im doing everything for them cuz im the only one whos being fucking competent rn or ever honestly. God i need my fucking job applications to be seen but they're not being fucking seen. And the hurricanes are delaying the one place thats giving me training, and its gonna look good on my resume since its somewhat closer to my field than just a retail job. And i cant even fucking do sexwork bc i frankly dont want to do sexwork for the rest of my life. I wanna keep my face hidden. 🔥I've seen this said before but for me, if I'm gonna write with someone consistently, I'm gonna be your friend. I'm not someone who enjoys just having a partner who's an automatic reply machine. I enjoy getting to know people, I like talking about what's going on with my friends/writing partners. making friends with my partners on here is fun. some people over the years are really impersonal and that's honestly too bad. i like feeling comfortable with someone where i can run ideas by them or send them things that make me think of their muse or our dynamic.

🔥i think that the rpc should also keep in mind that this is not a serious thing. this is a fun and sometimes silly hobby and that is okay. crossovers can be wild and fun, and so can au's and verses that are kinda out there. if it brings you and your partner joy and you're having fun exploring some crazy scenario then who cares? don't look down on someone or think you're better than someone else because you don't dabble in that stuff. people are allowed to have fun with this. at the end of the day, this is playing barbies with our fictional characters.

🔥to kinda go back to what i was saying in the first one, i think people should really not be afraid to reach out to people more. i get it, it can be intimidating. and people have had bad interactions with others in the past, i know i definitely have. but i personally enjoy when i'm writing with someone who i know doesn't see me as that peter blog. reach out to your followers and your friends, let them know you care. obviously i'm not saying send a love letter every day but checking in once and a while is nice. this is a social hobby and a collaborative one at that. and if someone is making you feel bad simply for talking to them then...they really aren't worth keeping around.

🔥 okay time to mix it up now and talk about marvel stuff but mcu spider-man is not as bad as people make it out. i know it's popular to dunk on them and make the iRoN bOy JuNiOr claim but, i dunno man. homecoming was great for me. the iron man stuff honestly doesn't bother me that much cause like it or not, iron man is the central character for that era of the mcu. and we had already had two phases of mcu movies by the time peter was introduced, where they didn't even think they'd get the rights to him too. so, for having to shoehorn in peter at the last second? i thought it was fine. also the fact that homecoming has such a different feel to it than the other mcu movies and spider-man movies, for that matter. it doesn't feel like a superhero movie, it feels like a john hughes movie. which is a really cool take on a spider-man movie. it's actually the only mcu spider-man movie i can rewatch and still enjoy. i also think it's a really dumb critique to say that peter is getting saved by iron man in the movie over and over when....that's the point bro. that's peter's arc. at the end of the movie he saves the day, saves the villain, all with his crappy homemade suit, web-shooters, and gadgets. the whole point is that he doesn't need iron man to function, he's capable on his own. whether or not the sequels do as good of a job as that is a different matter, but if i just look at homecoming by itself? solid.

🔥which brings me to my next point, into the spider-verse is the best spider-man movie and that's a fact. there's more passion put into a single scene of that movie than of all the other live action spider-man movies combined. the artwork, the sound design & soundtrack, the coloring, all fantastic and give it such a unique look and feel. it's got so much personality in it too which is just so refreshing. the majority of the mcu movies have zero personality to them. they're shot in such a static way and later on they all have this just ugly, grey color to all of them. there's a few exceptions where some have personality to them like Black Panther, Doctor Strange (which i didn't think was good but i can't deny it had some unique camera work to it), Homecoming, but a lot of them are just very...i dunno...dull? i could honestly just talk about the artwork for ITSV and that'd be enough. also miles in ITSV is a huge improvement on his comic book counterpart. the "what's up danger" scene is my favorite superhero movie scene of all time, and it's not even close. people were quick to write off the movie cause it's a cArToOn but...still the best spider-man movie. or they write it off cause there's not a hot british guy playing peter, i dunno. also the movie is genuinely funny. there's moments that still make me laugh. i can barely watch some mcu movies without cringing from some of the jokes (especially if it's a wh*don one) it's fantastic. also the artwork and sound design? even better in the sequel. though i do like the first movie overall more, the art and sound in the sequel is even better. giving each universe it's own art style and sound is so good.

also this is a blogging platform so i’m just gonna get some stuff written down, read it or not, just need to say stuff and i don’t feel like pulling out my journal rn

we had a dept meeting yesterday morning, which is pointless with 5 days left in the year but admin’s orders so w/e. and we’re all sitting together, the four of us who teach 7th and 8th and who are all leaving, and one of the reading teachers at another table and we’re just talking and one of my coworkers said something that i’m feeling 

she said she’s bitter, and she’s not going to forgive them for this. and yeah, me too. that’s exactly it. they took a thriving ela department with people who work well together, like each other, support each other, collaborate, etc. and in three years they obliterated it. all of us are going to different places. i mean obviously, because it’s not like some school is gonna be like “lemme hire these four from this one school” although that would be awesome because i love these ladies. 

it didn’t have to be this way. it really didn’t have to be this way. and all of us are feeling it. we don’t want to leave each other. admin, yes, but we don’t want to leave each other. i don’t want to work with a new ela department. i don’t. i don’t wanna go through the growing pains of getting to know them and their style and if we mesh well (and if they’re not filthy magats which i will never for the life of me understand how an educator can be but whATever) and just. i want my department. i wanted to stay here, i really did. we all did. none of us wanna pack up all our shit and go somewhere else. none of us wanna find our place in a new school. none of us wanna lose what we’ve spent years building up. the four of us have been working together for 4 years, since two of them got here. 

and i’ll admit i was reluctant at first, every single fucking teacher who’d been in the room next to me had left me up until that point. i didn’t wanna even bother to get too close because i had really liked the previous teacher, she was My People and we got along so well and she left. and i don’t fault her for that bc she got a job she’s really happy about but for me, having people leave me constantly well. i didn’t trust easily. i kept my distance at first. but now we’re all so close and we have built this amazing, strong department - one that was called the strongest department by this same admin a couple years ago - and now it’s ending, it’s over.

and that’s not even it, i mean man i came here to this school every day for seven years. seven fucking years. this classroom is like my second home and i didn’t wanna leave it. will i even find that somewhere else? i don’t think i will ever find a department that meshed as well as the four of us did together. i don’t think i will ever have what i have here and now. and we’ll keep our group chat i’m sure, but it isn’t going to be the same, it’s never going to be the same. and now it’s just hitting me that we’re all leaving. this is ending. this amazing thing that we had together is ending and i’m so fucking pissed off at these fucking horrible admin for making us all feel this way. for breaking up this amazing, cohesive department by being toxic and forcing us to do dumb shit that BY GOLLY didn’t raise the scores! they’re still shit! we told you this would happen!

just. they ruined something amazing. and i wouldn’t even be surprised if they did it on purpose, because we’re so close and we back each other up and we’re a unit. they don’t like that. the principal actually tried to get me to roll on one of those teachers like r u fkn kidding me bitch? i pretty much told her where to go. 

but yeah. this year’s ending is going to hit different. it’s just gonna hit different.

I realize I have not spoken much about the Jacobite I actually know so I am going to YELL about him here now in a very disorderly fashion bc he has recently left and i am actually kinda sad :((

ok so he's a catholic priest and he is mexican. if you know anything about us you will know that we are not the target audience for jacobite propaganda (whatever that may entail), so obv i was never suspecting any jacobite shenanigans from this guy nor from any other guy where i live

but THEN one night after mass i was hoppin back outside and on my way out i hear this man say one (1) thing that made me STOP IN MY TRACKS. he says "ustedes conocen los jacobitas, seguidores de jaime el segundo..." ("you all know of the jacobites, followers of james ii...")

idk what he was talking about and i didn't stay to listen. but that was all i needed. HE KNEW ABOUT JAMES THE GODDAMN SECOND AND HE KNEW ABOUT THE JACOBITES

so i go and tell @acrossthewavesoftime and we decide that i should talk to this guy and see what he knows. originally i was legit not gonna talk to him but i'll admit i was curious too. from there i talked to him many times, i would say like about 7-8 times, and he said plenty of stuffs that i told Radegonde (which was always hilarious). here are the highlights, all the spicy opinions!!

-the first time i spoke to him, i asked him his thoughts on James (under the guise that i needed the knowledge for school). he went on a bit of a rant that i dont remember much of, but i do remember he said that what James did was honorable (something like that i think??) and that giving up his kingdom for catholicism isn't something anybody would do. said he would be fine with making James a saint but that he isn't a jacobite (implying he knows that there are some still around)

-also in that first time, he called William an enemy of the bible (which Radegonde referenced on her blog once and it made me choke)

-for some reason i thought it was a brilliant idea to tell him of the green stockings kink. he made a face at it and said he would look into it. idk if he ever did bc he never mentioned it again............

-i asked him if he thought it was weird that spanish wikipedia has James as "Jacobo" rather than "Jaime" (which is more correct honestly) and he said it was very strange, implying that he has been on wikipedia

-on that note, he called James "Jaime" but didn't call William "Guillermo." understandably so bc it is very funny

-apparently he has been to France (and speaks French!!! wow!!) and that's how he learned of James. i can only imagine what he saw there

-i asked him his thoughts on Mary and it was really interesting bc it seems that he thinks of her as a victim! specifically he said that he couldn't blame her bc she was obeying what her husband wanted and claimed that even if she hadn't wanted to go depose James, William would have done it anyway

verdict: a jacobite even if he denies being one. i get the vibe that he does NOT like William......

so i think this guy's really interesting bc he's actually. not that bad of a priest?? like one time this dickhole at church was ranting things against trans people yknow the usual insults and my jacobite priest was sort of...side-eyeing him. he did not look too happy. an ally? something else? i have no idea. idk how openly trans i look but he was at least very much willing to talk to me.

and thats the thing that i'm actually sorta sad about, bc i feel like i got to know more about him than just the jacobite part of him. like this post is about his Very Fascinating Opinions but also sometimes i had a rough time at church and listening to him talk was funny so it made me feel better. he also genuinely said hello to me sometimes and would listen to MY opinions very attentively

he recently switched over to another church, which means i won't get to see him as much anymore if at all, but last sunday i saw him he said he hopes he gets to see me again

in conclusion. very strange thoughts but not a terrible priest by my standards! oddly i miss him now but it is what it is :(

i love yapping about my project planning so here i am. i did knit my first sweater and i'll update about that at some point but rn i just wanna talk plans.....

first one is my good days sweater, completely and 100% inspired by good days by sza one of my fav songs of all time. if i can, i would knit it with wild violet fiber's colorway matcha in whatever base they have enough of and with the matching mohair. tbh i've been looking around at patterns and stuff to decide what pattern i want to follow for this bc i wanna maybe try something new but now that im thinking about it i might just stick with the step by step sweater by florence miller... its what i used to knit my sweater and it's a banger pattern, and like. since it's a construction i already know, i don't feel too crazy about fiddling with gauge and all that and i can just try it on. tbh however. the flaw with this is that i just don't think i would have enough yarn. the main color that i wanna use, the matcha is sold out in almost every base and pretty much gone in the others. like i just don't know if i would have enough yarn. but the design is basically just a regular stockinette sweater with "good days" written on it in colorwork, the color im thinking of is knitpicks stroll in melon and maybe holding it with their mohair in tarragon. although idk about that. it's not gonna happen for a while bc i really don't have that kinda money but maybe once christmas rolls around and i get a few gift cards... lol.

second plan is what i'm calling my iykyk sweater/jacket. originally it was gonna be a sweater but now that i'm thinking about it..... letterman jacket would be so cool. basically so well i'm obsessed with all for the game a book series (check out my reading blog if u wanna know more) and theres this one scene where the mc goes off on another character and it's just kind of iconic. and well i think it would be funny if it was on a sweater. the books about a made up sports team playing a made up sport so i would do it in their school colors white and bright orange. so far i'm leaning towards knitting for olive hokkaido in their merino and one of their whites/creams for consistency. i haven't found any patterns on ravelry that really match what i'm looking for except for one... and it's bottom up. idk how to reverse engineer knits so i might just free ball it from a somewhat similar cardigan and go from there. i think the biggest differences between a regular cardigan and a letterman jacket are the collar, the pockets, and the button band... the pockets would probably be the hardest to figure out... the collar i would just pick up stitches in the certain way i want... and the button band. well idk. i think that should be relatively easy to figure out from yt tutorials. colorwork, i would do the big rant text on the back and maybe honestly im really not sure about this detail but "iykyk" on the front near like the breast pocket area where logos usually go. maybe a little fox paw somewhere. but yeah. it'll be interesting to see if i can actually figure this out. i wish i was somewhere where these yarns were more available so if need be i can just pop over to the store and get more if i run out bc thats some of the biggest hindrances in my executive functioning. i get really nervous about the actual amount of yarn i need and it gives me anxiety if i maybe even have the slightest doubt im not ordering enough. but then also i can't afford to spend that much extra on yarn i realistically dont need lol. oh well. hopefully it will happen someday.

So my old, old, old tumblr account was a personal one that I literally just reblogged the most ridiculous fandom posts at the time and a huge amount of the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez- so I get the not wanting your friends to know what you’re into.

But like you can create a sideblog in 20 seconds (if that) on here- so I don’t really think that’s an excuse anymore.

I remember back in the day on here some writers said they wouldn’t reblog fics to their writing blogs because it made them messy/cluttered and so they made additional sideblogs for that and there was some fat discourse over it because obviously that sideblog wouldn’t give the same traction/traffic as posting to their main writing account would- but like I just think regardless if you have 1 follower or 1000 followers, telling someone they did a good job makes them feel good? Even if it’s just “thanks for writing this”. Like it just makes someone feel seen? Or feel recognised.

WAH ok ok. uh. this is not gonna be a super serious rant bc i dont have any actual issues w the fic and its very well-written and if u like shit like potc or whatever u should definitely read it bc its very fun. that being said thats also MY special interest theyre butchering so im just gonna like. infodump about golden age of piracy below the cut

gonna start this off rq by saying im ignoring any obviously fantastical elements like erets magic or the weird storm at the beginning cause like. idrc about adding in fantasy shit, my own pirate au has like. piglins and shit. its fine idc

ok first major point is like. general characterization. which i dont honestly think is the fault of the writer misunderstanding the characters or anything, i think its more just the general assumption that pirates were all lawless renegades and the navy were idealistic men or something, in which case, lil bastard shit philza would fit the pirate role better while deeply ideological techno would fit the navy. but. i find it really fucking hard to believe that a character whos anarchist ideals make up a big portion of his motivations would be a bootlicker. and he honestly fits pretty well into the role of pirate captain? a big part of like. piracy in general. was creating this terrifying image of yourself, bc realistically you didnt want to get in a fight with every ship, that costs ammo and ship repairs and possibly lives. and i think technoblade, someone who is usually known as The Blade and who has a reputation for just being. super fucking bloodthirsty. but in reality has deepseated ideals and is determined to protect his friends at all costs, would fit way better into the role of pirate captain than phils casual war criminal self would (to be clear: i aint saying phil wouldnt be a pirate, he absolutely would. im just saying hed be a kinda shit captain tbh)

second point: pirate crews did not have the same highly hierarchical approach to roles on a ship as the navy did. to the writers credit, they kinda touched on this in ch 3 when they mentioned that the mens loyalty would still lie w phil rather than techno, but like. pirate captains werent just put into place like that, and certainly not by the previous captain. they were generally elected by the crew, who could then elect someone else if they didnt live up to their standards. also, when someone joined the crew, there'd be this whole captains code thing that theyd have to read and sign (admittedly, i know why they didnt put that part in, paperwork is boring im not faulting them for that)

along the same lines as the hierarchical shit, there wasnt really a first mate, at least in terms of like. "second in command." what there Was was a quartermaster, someone who kinda like. relayed messages between the crew and captain. again, not a huge grievance, just something that kept bugging me every time they mentioned it

another rather small grievance but one that bugged me nonetheless: at the end of ch 3, they had this moment where techno looked up at their colors and had a minute of Self Reflection that i completely ignored bc like. you would absolutely not just sail around w the black raised you are a sitting fucking target and it gives any navy vessel/pirate hunters just like. a dead giveaway that you should be attacked. youd only raise the colors if you were like. actively chasing a prize

ALSO while we're at it. this ones not a historical inaccuracy but is more of just a missed opportunity. not everyone had the same flag! most pirate captains had their own unique designs, some a bit more. goofy. than others

in phil and my au, techno has a flag similar to calico jacks (top right), but with a pig skull instead of a humans. again, its not entirely historically inaccurate, but it wouldve been cool to see what their ideas were for a unique philza flag

ok my last major issue here and one i wanted to save for last bc its a bit more graphic than others: corporal punishment (pogchamp!). im gonna be honest, im not super familiar w what could and couldnt get you punished w the royal navy, But what i do know is that the whole. cutting off a hand thing. would not be super accurate. if he was punished, hed likely be whipped (probably w a cat o nines which are like. super fucking brutal. not a fun time in the slightest). amputations were more of a "whoops you got an infection and this is the 18th century so our treatment is just to Chop" thing
