I Thought I Was A Goner

~An In Stars and Time Fic~

Summary:

All you can think of is a hand, grip tightening, blood seeping through cracks in the gauntlet.

Hah, hah... The thought terrifies you.

Or: Goner Kid event, but ISAT.

Siffrin's eye shoots open, heart beating a mile a minute as their overwhelming desire to 'MOVE, JUST MOVE, DO SOMETHING' culminates in a hand swatting at the air, pathetically. Their arm falls limp right after. They were back. They'd managed to loop back, but Bonnie-! They were too late! He was too late, and Bon- They shoot up from their spot, marching down the path, stopping only when they see Mirabelle. "Oh, Siffrin-!" She starts, cheerfully.

"Hey, Mira." He cuts her off, trying to sound calm. "Have you seen Bonnie?" They need to. He needs to.

"Bonnie...?" She cocks her head to the side. "They're... Over by the veggie fields, aren't they?" Not enough. He needs confirmation.

"Thanks." He walks off, not stopping even as she tries to get their attention. All that matters is making sure Bonnie's okay, this entire loop can burn to the ground, otherwise. Realistically, they knew. Time looped back, Bon-bon's safe and sound, but... ...The air feels colder than usual. He thinks there are fewer birds about, though they can't recall how many were here to begin with. Everything just feels wrong. ...They reach the field quick enough. "Bonnie." The kid doesn't move, for a moment. Then they glance over their shoulder.

"hey-" They do a double take. "...frin? Are you okay?" They're fine. He's fine. "You look... Really tired." Siffrin can feel the tension in their face drop slightly, a halfhearted grin forming, despite himself. "Did what the king do to me scare you that badly...?" The tension returns, having tripled as every hair on his body stands on end.

He sputters. "Wh- Bonnie, what?"

"The King," they say, as if that answers any of the questions he has. "He... Crushed me. Are you scared?" They stop leaning on the fence, turning to face him fully. Their face... is... How the Change God looked, when they took Loops' form. "Did you think, when you asked Mirabelle about me, that she wouldn't know who you were talking about?" They're talking so strangely. And the look on their face...

Siffrin places a hand on his dagger, but thinks better of pulling it out. "You're not them," he says, brow furrowed.

Bonnie(?) ignores him. "Did you think I was gone?" He feels water drip down his forehead. There's no rain, nor is he sweating. They step toward him. "What's wrong? Aren't you happy? I'm here. Safe. Sound. Really, it's the others you should be worrying yourself over."

Siffrins' grip on his dagger tightens as Bonnie(?) approaches. "...Others?" They don't answer him immediately. There's a few agonizing seconds of dead silence. Then...

"Loop number ninety seven, timeline number one thousand two hundred and three. You've died seventy three times, were frozen by tears and/or sadnesses seventeen times, and looped back of your own accord for the remaining seven." Siffrin steps back, eyes widened. He struggles to even comprehend all of that, the sheer magnitude. They're cut out of their thoughts before a spiral can occur by the next thing to leave Bonnie(?)'s mouth. "What happened to those timelines, Siffrin?" Suddenly, the magnitude feels more akin to a boulder placed atop their shoulders. "What fate do you think befell those versions of you? Of everyone?" Their attention is torn between thoughts of everyone being forced to fend for themselves after their passing, and Bonnie(?)'s continued approach. His arm wavers and shakes, not steady enough to grab hold of dagger's hilt. "Where are they, 'frin? Did they cease to exist? Odile? Isabeau? Mirabelle? ...Me?" They stop, mere inches from him, though too short to be up in his face.

...

Silence. As they stare with limp eyes. "Bonnie-" Siffrin begins, not knowing what else to really say.

...

...

...They open their mouth.

"Who's Bonnie?" In a flicker, everything shifts. They're back over by the fence, the birds return in force, the wind blow briskly, and warmly, and Siffrin can't help but tear up. Even as Bonnie looks at them, all they feel is pure dread hanging over them. Even as they ask if he's okay. Even as they realize he's not. Even as they bring him to Mira, who brings him to the Clocktower, who has him rest early today even though after what just happened the likeliness of a peaceful rest remains zero. Even after sleeping, entering the House, enduring snack time after snack time of not being able to look Bonnie in the face, after making it to the King and slicing him to shreds whenever he so much as glances at Bonnie... The thought couldn't leave their head. 'What happened to them?'

They start encountering... Echoes, they'll call them. They start encountering echoes, a few loops after this encounter. In similar places they'd been before, doing similar things, from previous loops. Sans their party, strangely. It only serves to hammer it home, like a chisel being taken to their brain, 'what happened', 'what happened to them', 'what have you done'... As their echo distorts and fades, having given their group a saddening smile, all eyes turn to him. They feel a tug on their stomach, but fear grinds it to a halt-! If they loop back, what happens? What's going to happen to their family? The past few times were out of necessity, but this... Well...

He steels himself. But even as the group approaches, the pulling sensation never leaves them completely. It gnaws at their insides, much the same manner Bonnie(?)'s question gnaws at their mind... There would be no more unnecessary looping, this, he would make certain of. To create as few timelines as possible where his party were defenseless, and killed, that should have been his goal from the beginning!

But, he reasons, it's fine. They know now, they won't. Make. That. Mistake. Again.

...

...'What happened to them?"

“It makes sense why ASGORE took so long to hire a new Royal Scientist. After all, the old one... Dr. Gaster. What an act to follow!” “One day, he vanished without a trace. They say he shattered across time and space.” “Well, I needn't gossip. After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening.”

I recently decided to add an Asgore to my AU because I think he's a really interesting and deep character that kiiiind'a gets clowned on a lot.. <XD I wanted to do him justice by bringing out what I like most about his character and overall vibe :}}

This was originally going to be in a post with like 6 other drawings. But I was so proud of how it came out that I wanted to post it by itself. :}}}}

His temporary lore/backstory is after the keep reading! :D

Asgore's story is a bit vague.. but I'm thinking he's in a similar situation to River Person and Grillby. He cant go back to his AU and is full of grief about it..

I know his AU wont be like classic Undertale. Maybe in his AU they were sent underground much later? Or not at all? Chara and Asriel could be older.. who knows. But I'm thinking that at some point.. while being married to Toriel and having both Chara and Asriel, he had to go to war.

He told his wife and kids that he loved them very much. He said goodbye to them and went to war.. In which he was later killed.. Somehow Jevil and his gang passing through, ripped his soul out of his AU and into the multiverse. In doing this his crown was left behind and he was prevented from fully turning into dust somehow..

If he were to return to his AU, he would just continue turning into dust and die. So he cannot return.

Now unlike Grillby or River Person, Asgore is able to cope with this situation a bit better than them.

He was able to say goodbye to his family before he died. And the last thing he said to them was that he loved them. He died protecting his people, and his sacrifice in battle is ultimately what led to their victory. His family will be full of grief, but they have his crown to remember him by. And Toriel is a very strong woman. He has no doubt that she has enough love in her soul for the both of them. And will raise their kids into strong and mature individuals without his help.

He is still grieving the fact that he will never see his family again, of course. But knowing that his family is still alive and will continue to thrive and live despite his absence.. its comforting really.

Asgore is now permamntly in a state of dusting, but not really..? He is made of dust but he is still very powerful. It doesn't seem like him dusting has effected his magic too much.. he's not really sure <XD

Since he no longer has his crown, he has blatantly just said "I am no king, not anymore." He now kind'a acts as the groups body guard. Also unlike Grillby, he is thankful that Jevil saved him. If Jevil hadn't accidentally interfered, Asgore would have just died anyway and never knew if his family was safe or if they had won the battle or not.

I have other ideas of Asgore being this really tender character, and devoting himself to protecting his "new family". I imagined him helping Grillby move on and cope with his grief.. and if he can still heal monsters/darkners.. I imagine him healing Seam and Spamton to ease them of their pain.. Even if its only temporarily relief. I like to think that he is this rock that the others can lean on.

All in all, this Asgore is a pretty neat dude. He's their friend now, they're having soft tacos later! :}

GASTER'S FOLLOWERS

Don't forget these are also AU contents so designs and other weird things I don't know how to explain are can be different than canon or what other fans made like.

Ok guys let me explain. I did a lot of research on the names of Gaster's followers. But I couldn't find a Canon name for all of them. (Or there was but I couldn't find it.) I named most of the names based on information on some sites I found. Especially since there is no information about Goner Clam Girl and Eye Talker's real name, I named them myself.

Other facts about Gaster's Followers :

Follower #4

Goner Kid is Monster Kid's sister and a family member, and Eye Talker is her uncle.

The ribbon on Goner Kid's head was gifted to her by W.D Gaster.

Since she is already a child, she does not bother helping Gaster in the True Lab. She mostly hangs out with Alphys in the normal Lab.

Follower #1

Okay, I have to say this: Dust Licker is not naked under his apron. As long as the metal necklace on his neck (yes, he calls it a necklace) is on his neck, he is not naked, regardless of whether he takes off his apron or not.

He is the person in the best psychological condition in the group.

Follower #2

He's the Follower who hangs out with Gaster the most. Gaster and him are like brothers.

In AU, he can appear both with and without a hoodie.

His eyes appear when he feels dominant emotions. Examples:

You may not know this Follower, because she only appears in the Nintendo Switch version of Undertale if we go back to the Waterfall before reaching the barrier during the Good Ending.

There is a theory that her neighbor's daughter is Susie (Deltarune). This AU also has this theory. But it's not a big deal.

Follower #3

As you can see in the images, Eye Talker has 2 different forms and can transform into either one whenever he wants. The reason I made the First Form was because I thought it was strange that someone like him, with no arms or legs, would be one of the people helping Gaster in the laboratory.

This may be ridiculous information, but Eye Talker has an amazing jumping ability. He can jump up to 3 meters.

So this animation by @asepriterico was so absolutely delightful that it inspired me to make an entire Deltarune/Undertale AU centered around Jevil despite having no knowledge or liking towards Jevil previously and I am very happy with the result so far 👌👌👌

Y'know how Goner Kid goes "Have you ever thought of a world where everything is exactly the same... except you don't exist?" and shit like that, and everyone immediately assumed it was related to Gaster?

What if, instead, it was related to the gonermaker Vessel?

The vessel, a being for the player, was discarded. Yet, even still, the story carries on.
