The male and female Golden headed Quetzal have been observed carrying a variety of food items to their nest to feed their nestlings. The nest is in a hole on a dead tree trunk in a field adjacent to forest on a mountainside close to Mindo, Ecuador. This photo was taken on the bright, sunny morning of August 22, 2013. The Golden headed Quetzal is found from southern Panama in Central America south through the Andes of South America to Bolivia.
