King Baldwin IV Headcanon
Baldwin and Godfrey's (Bastard) daughter part 1(sorry, English is not my main language)
about her:
-I haven't come up with a name yet
-young girl with her father's piercing blue eyes
-long, wavy hair
-honest personality
-her mother died when she was four years old
-her father came for her, when she was 16
-Godfrey don't die, so he can be there for her
-in Ibelin it was her first time, sleeping on a real mattress, and not just on straw
-was confused about all the soaps and oils that woman use for their body and hair
-loves to help the people in Ibelin and sometimes plays with the children
-is very good at climbing on trees
-only wear simple dresses, without much layers and decoration
-can't sit still when she is nervous
her and Baldwin:
-he wants to meet Godfrey's daughter
-she is brought before him alone
-she is very nervous and can't say a word
-he tries to politely keep his distance because of his illness
-he asks her if she can play chess
-embarrassingly she can not
-instead he just sit down with her and they talk
-she is very shy
-he asks her, if she is afraid of his disease
-she said honestly, that she is nervous to sit towards a king
-he is extremely kind to her and she can relax a little bit
-she never learned to read, but she excitedly tells him that her father is teaching her
-he is enchanted by her beautiful appearance and her pure character
-when Godfrey departs with her for Ibelin, she promises to write him a letter when she has learned to write
-the people laugh about her, but Baldwin silences them all and tells her that he will be waiting full of excitement
-she smiles warmly at his kind words
-and he loves her smile
-he send her gifts like new fabrics for dresses, fragrant essences, a hand mirror, and a beautifully crafted wooden box
-she sends him a dried flower, a handkerchief that she embroidered herself, and a wooden cross she made herself for him as a lucky charm
-he keeps the dried flower on his Working table, the wooden cross under his pillow and the handkerchief is always with him

Duty is the Death of Love Chapter IX
Jerusalem Beckons
Available Here: ao3
“I do not recognize these banners, Eulalia. Might you recognize them because you are the princess that is most properly trained in court etiquette and knowledge?” Marwan reining in his horse in approach to her side is accompanied by a snark laced voice and an inquiring brow raised with curiosity.
“They belong to Godfrey of Ibelin, one of the great knights of Jerusalem.” Though her plain garments of white cotton may disguise her identity as Eulalia of Bethlehem , the growth of annoyance against her features is curbed though she may wish to grant a slap against the skull of her cousin for the mocking tinged commentary. “His banners are very common at court, especially now if he’s made his return from France.”
An utterance of an Aramaic name derogatory in nature for a person of French descent follows with swiftness as Marawn has never held any drop of affection for the nobility of foreign descent that took occupation of the lands upon the creation of the kingdom.

Week 39
This week I got caught up in reviewing a few movies I watched during the week.
Reviewing Kingdom of Heaven
This Ridley Scott star-studded production, Kingdom of Heaven (2004), features elaborate fight scenes, good costume design and casting, and good character development. Despite these good qualities among others, the film ends up lacking some kind of depth and is in need of a backstory. This disappoints the viewers looking for another epic like Scott’s previous film, Gladiator (2000).
The film starts by introducing the main character Balian (Orlando Bloom) and the tragedy of losing his pregnant wife to suicide he has just endured. The movie highlights the importance of religion right from the start, as the way of his wife’s passing inspires Balian to travel to the Kingdom of Jerusalem, then a Christian capital of the world, to ask for God’s forgiveness for his wife’s sins (as suicide was considered a sin in the 1100’s). Religion is in the center of the whole film, as later on a war of Jerusalem is started between two nations and religions to determine the domination of the capital of religion. Although Balian begins his journey by searching for God in Jerusalem, towards the end Balian questions God and his will during the fighting of two religions. As Balian surrenders Jerusalem to the Muslims in the end of the war, Balian discovers that instead of fighting for Christianity as it is disguised as, the war has become of fortune and authority, fought at the cost of the people. His view on God becomes somewhat indifferent, which can be seen also from his opposition to Priest of Jerusalem’s opinions on for example chivalry (which helped the Church uphold the hierarchical society of the Middle Ages, when common people were advised to practice religion to better their societal status for the afterlife) and escaping the war. This portraying of religion describes the feeling many underprivileged people felt in the Middle Ages when the hardships of life were explained as the will of God.
On his journey to Jerusalem, Balian is accompanied by his long-lost father, Lord Godfrey of Ibelin (Liam Neeson) and his crusaders. This plot twist of reunion of father and son is delivered early on in the movie without any explanation whatsoever as to Balian’s mother and why the separation happened among others. Some explaining is attempted to be done during the course of the movie, as Godfrey’s habit of seduction is mentioned by Guy de Lusignan (Marton Csokas), but this leaves the viewer with questions as to how Godfrey knew about Balian and possible other offspring, among which Godfrey specifically chose Balian. As a result, the plot is left open in a part where there could have been an opportunity for some character background development for Balian and Godfrey.
Reviewing See how they run
Tom George’s film “See how they run” is a love letter to the writing of Agatha Christie and classic features of their film adaptations. Although taking a more humoristic, almost satirical, approach, it is still an enjoyable murder-mystery with great casting of more and less known movie stars. In addition to imitating the greats of the murder-mystery category, the cinematography takes after the distinguished style of one Wes Anderson. George has indeed mastered to put himself in the shadows of Christie and Anderson in his own movie.
The movie is based on the play The Mousetrap, which is one of Agatha Christie’s works that has never been adapted into motion pictures. Furthermore, the plot is not the only thing inspired as the movie is centered around the cast and crew of the exact play that is being featured in the 1950s West End of London. The film includes the basic elements of a Christie-story: the detective-character the film is centered on, a murder with no perpetrator but multiple suspects, and the gathering of all in the end to reveal the murderer. Although the audience, who is probably familiar with the Christie-style, knows what is about to happen next, the movie is still enjoyable and easy to watch, because who does not love a whodunit?
The layperson not fanatical about movies would guess the film would be a Wes Anderson script from the symmetrical nature of scenes and vivid color-schemes, further confirmed by the usual suspects of Anderson films: Saoirse Ronan (Constable Stalker) and Adrien Brody (Leo Köpernick). This attached with the Christie-inspiration, the film lacks originality and the touch of the crew of the film. The film could have might as well directed the profits to the Agatha Christie foundation and Wes Anderson’s pockets.

Kingdom of Heaven Timelapse
Completed over a number of hours, largely listening to the film score (I see you reusing your battle themes between Kerak and Narnia Mr Gregson-Williams) and regretting the level of detail
