By • Olalekan Fagbade Rivers Youths occupy Government House over Fubara’s impeachment move Youths of Rivers State have continued the occupation of the entrance gate to the Government House, Port Harcourt, in protest against the move by some lawmakers to impeach the governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. The protest began on Monday in the wake of the event and has continued through the night until Tuesday morning. The protesters are insisting that they will ensure that the sitting governor is not removed from office unlawfully. On Tuesday, thousands of youths entered the government house gate with music bands and DJs, displaying all forms of entertainment. The State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, said the youths would continue the occupation until they are sure that Fubara is secured. “I want to condemn what happened in the state. There are a few people who want to cause a crisis in our state by wanting to impeach the governor of the state, Fubara. It is uncalled for. “This is just the beginning, and we are going to occupy the streets. We are saying no to Godfatherism. The youths will occupy the streets because we have a governor who has passion for the Rivers youths.”

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has debunked claims that he was being pushed to run for the position by some godfathers. The LP governorship candidate was responding to the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, who on Tuesday said that his LP counterpart is being backed by godfathers such as Chief Bode George. Wike Accuses Oshiomhole of Enslaving Edo People Nyesom Wike, the executive Governor of Rivers State has spoken to the Edo people regarding the forth coming governorship election in the state. The governor who spoke on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television told the people of Edo to re-elect governor Obaseki because he has been able to resist ‘godfatherism’ in Edo State.  Wike’s words: “The mere fact that Obaseki resisted this godfatherism should be the one reason Edo people should vote for him. There are so many things about this election; it has nothing to do with Obaseki like I said,”  He added, “First of all, Edo people, will you continue to allow godfatherism? Is it not an opportunity to end this godfatherism? “You wake up in the morning and you tell Edo people something, in the night you call the same Edo people and say ‘what I said in the morning, I didn’t mean it’; how do we now know the one that you meant?” At some point in the interview, Governor Wike blamed Adams Oshiomhole for enslaving the people of Edo state; claiming that this was the major reason for the disagreement between him and the incumbent governor, Obaseki.   Gov. Wike said that most of the appointments in Obaseki’s administration were done by Oshiomhole, and when Obaseki couldn’t take it anymore, he resisted him and that was the beginning of their disagreement.
