I don’t know that I have one SUPER favorite holiday? Christmas is pretty great (other than some obnoxious songs) and I really like Easter.

headcanon: when hugh comes back, he gets kind of jokingly irritated because paul's stretched out all his jumpers (and then he realised how often paul must have been sitting alone in their room, wearing hugh's jumpers because oh god they still smell like him, and he kisses him a lot and then they pretty much just share jumpers from then on and hugh doesn't care that the're baggy)

LISTEN i’d 100% agree with you except you seem to assume that paul only starts wearing hugh’s stuff after hugh died? which... come on, don’t tell me that paul, the softest shroom, hasn’t always enjoyed wearing hugh’s things because they smell like him ;)

but after hugh’s death they probably both just give up and have a communal wardrobe and when they go shopping they fight over which jumper they prefer, and eventually they only wear things that the other one wore before, so it smells like their boyfriend

(ok but also what about hugh coming to their quarters after having been resurrected, which paul didn’t know anything about, and there’s paul, curled up in a corner, sobbing into the sleeve of a sweatshirt that definitely belongs to hugh)

and even though she figures it out quickly, it takes ages for michael to actually do something about these feelings. I mean things went pretty fast with ash by her standards but this time she wants to get it Right and even if that means creating the worse sexual tension discovery has ever experienced, it’ll be worth it

23. How do you balance your characters in an ensemble story?

... I don’t?

Actually though I don’t write ensemble stories much if ever; I usually have 2-3 characters that I’m focusing on, and other characters occasionally pop up. I guess I try to make sure that I’m not going too long without getting an update on what someone is doing if they’re all in the same scene. Like, if it’s been a while since they’ve done something, they’ll roll their eyes, just to a. remind the reader that they’re there, and b. be like “yeah they’re still engaged / paying attention / alive”

26. How do you go about world building?

Ok so for the main fic that I’ve written that I’ve had to create a reasonably developed alien world (The Blindness of Love and Justice -- shameless plug) I had a couple of key ideas and expanded from there. In this case, hexagons were a big thing, as well as it being a kind of desert-y vibe. Same kind of thing for an original story I worked on in high school (that I still really want to do something with): I had the idea of a fantasy world set in a fantasy Middle East-type of place, instead of the normal fantasy England, and I bubbled out from there, tweaking fantasy tropes to fit.

A = affection (how affectionate are they in day to day life? Do they show affection publicly or keep that more in private?)it’s definitely a very private thing for them. paul doesn’t enjoy pda, usually (even though that drastically changes after hugh comes back); and generally they don’t interact much in a public setting. in their quarters, however, paul is a huge cuddlebug (but so is hugh). even if they’re just hanging out and reading quietly, and even when they’re not cuddling during that, there will definitely be physical contact somehow. also, paul is the big spoon and he sleeps like a very clingy octopus. hugh loves it.also, they definitely do goodbye and welcome back kisses. plus hugh will usually wake paul with kisses (it makes him less grumpy).

H = hugs (do they like hugs? What kind of hugs do they give?)do they like hugs?? absolutely. especially since paul likes nuzzling into hugh’s neck and the ridge of his shoulder, and because hugh will feel warm and solid against him (and because paul will feel warm and soft against hugh and he smells really good).hugh gives soft hugs and usually lets paul dictate whether they remain a short embrace or turn to snuggling. sometimes he’ll really need paul to take charge of the hug to ground him; usually after a bad day at workpaul’s hugs are full bodied and tugging; especially after hugh comes back, he’s a VERY needy hugger. hugh lets him.sometimes their hugs are just arms loosely folded around the other’s middle, but those hugs usually lead to them dancing.also paul likes hugging hugh from behind, for nuzzling purposes.

N = no (what is their pet peeve?)look, paul loves hugh. a lot. seriously, he loves him SO much, and one day he’ll tell hugh that he feels like hugh is his soulmate.however, that doesn’t distract from the fact that one dr h. culber, md, is a messy person. not super messy, but enough to drive paul up the wall sometimes. because did hugh really have to stack the padds so precariously high? what about his trainers by the door, that always are just a little too much towards the entrance, so paul keeps falling over them? oh, and if hugh has to use paul’s shampoo, he could at least close the bottle. AND PUT IT BACK ON HIS SHELF.also hugh is an absolutely disgusting morning person, and if he smiles at paul one more time in the morning, paul is going to do something drastic (like pout).oh, and that thing hugh does where his idea of “folding” a shirt means balling it up? how did that man even make it to 44 years without learning ANY semblance of housekeeping?!hugh also loves paul. so much. he’s hugh’s favorite person in the galaxy. however, paul is absolutely (in hugh’s opinion) anal about tidiness. honestly, who cares if their pajamas fell off the hook? the floor is clean anyways! why is paul flipping out about that (again)?okay, so paul is chief engineer, and he’s a researcher, and he’s a genius, and he’s a real cutie, but... well, suffice to say that hugh is sure if paul would just take five more minutes for one of the few regular meals he has to make sure he doesn’t talk with a full mouth, instead chewing and then talking... it wouldn’t kill paul. as it is, however, hugh spends most meals glaring daggers at his disgusting boyfriend. (luckily, paul doesn’t do that on dates).also someone make paul stop chewing on their styluses. please. hugh is begging here.

O = occupation (what’s their dream job?)for paul it’s doing what he loves, aka continuing his research, preferably on a starship vessel and in command of his department, but also stationed together with hugh, so he is working his dream jobhugh... well, the only thing missing for hugh is that promotion to cmo he craves and works his ass off for
