Series 6 Post 21: He is very often identified among the twelve Olympians as the god of war in a general sense, but this is an inaccuracy because in reality Ares is the god only of the more violent aspects of war and of the struggle understood as bloodlust.

🌸 The word "Ares" until the classical era was also used as an adjective, meaning enraged or warlike, for example we recall the forms Zeus Areios, Athena Areia, or even Aphrodite Areia. Some inscriptions dating back to the Mycenaean era report Enyalios, a name that survived into the classical era as an epithet of Ares.

🌸 Ares was the son of the king of the gods, Zeus, and the queen of the gods, Hera. His sisters were Hebe and Ilitia. According to Homer and Quintus Smyrnaeus, Ares had a twin sister: Eris. According to another myth, reported by Ovid and the First Vatican Mythographer, Eris and Ares were conceived by Hera simply by touching a lotus flower, without the goddess lying with Zeus.

🌸 Ares had a quadriga pulled by four immortal horses with fiery breath named: Ardente, Flaming, Strepito, Horror. Of all the gods he was distinguished by his gleaming bronze armor and in battle he habitually wielded a spear and shield. His sacred birds were the barn owl, the woodpecker, the eagle owl and, especially in southern Greece, the vulture. Is often represented on stone with the red color, red like blood, symbol of the ferocious acts that are carried out in war.

🌸From his fiery relationship with Aphrodite were born two sons, Deimos and Phobos, who personified the spirits of terror and fear. Usually Ares went to war accompanied by Cidoimo (the demon of the noise of battle), the Makhai (spirits of battle), the Hysminai (spirits of murder), Polemos (a minor war spirit) and his daughter of Polemos Alalà, personification of the war cry of the Greeks and whose name Ares decided to use as his own war cry. Even the god Eros was and is considered the son of Ares and Aphrodite.

My capstone project at Harvard is a ritual training manual for Godar and Seid-persons--- following the template of what I am calling Heathen Revivalism. So a little something different in the area of Divinity... I consider the height of this project the possession Seidr ritual that I will be doing in one of the campus chapels...I am curious how they will grade me... Can someone evaluate how possessed by Odin I will be?

Being the way I am, before I realized that a cake was called for? I was already planning to put together some cinnamon rolls out of that sweet roll mix that I picked up on sale to make semlor for the rather sedate Swedish answer to Mardi Gras, and then totally failed to do so. Have the butter already set out to soften and everything.

Another reason I welcomed the idea of an extra simple to throw together cake, BTW, which wouldn't require more mixer running. Especially since I was going to make that after Mr. C has gone to bed. Our stand mixer motor is powerful but NOT quiet, and the neighbors probably wouldn't much appreciate that in the middle of the night either.

But, then it also occured to me that we've got a package of almond paste that didn't get used for the planned semlor either. And I bet that could also be good incorporated into cinnamon rolls, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, this is apparently an established thing here. And I can probably still use the same amount of butter that I already set out, just basically sub some almond paste in for the sugar in the filling. Recipes I'm seeing are mixed on whether to add some extra starch or breadcrumbs, but I guess we'll see how the consistency looks after it's mixed up.

The linked recipe is also handy, in calling for sprinkling flaked almonds on top of the rolls instead of the pearl sugar that's normally standard on cinnamon rolls here. We don't have pearl sugar, and I don't like the texture. (Which is kinda why I never bought any.) OTOH, we do have an open bag of flaked almonds, everybody here enjoys those, and that also neatly sidesteps the whole glaze vs. crunchy sugar bits cultural divide. 😅

ROTTMNT Theory

I spent a few hours researching this.....

Where the turtles might have been from based on their species (and the information I’ve conveniently forgotten about)

Leo: Red-eared slider, comes from Hamilton Lake, Hardin Precinct, Illinois, USA (at first i thought he could come from Kintown Hollow RD.... i did not know RD meant road lmao) (HE’S AN INVASIVE SPECIES, SO IN CHARACTER IDK Y)

Raph: Alligator Snapping turtle, comes from Godar Swamp, Calhoun County, Illinois, USA (close to both Illinois River and Hamilton Lake, while simultaneously having a gap big enough so that both species of turtles don’t meet each other)

Donnie: Spiny Softshell turtle (Apalone), comes from Lac Trois-Lacs, Asbestos, Québec, CA (Asbestos is now known under the name of Val-Des-Sources) (A while back i read something about Apalone turtles (endegered species) living there, apparently not anymore, but i would assume that 14-15 years ago, some Spiny Softshell turtle would still live around there)

Mikey: Ornate Turtle, come from Tazewell County, Illinois, USA (close to the river, there’s like, a forest, idk how it’s called) (I did make more research about other types of box turtles, i will share two of them cuz i found it funny; had he been a Three-Toed Box turtle, he would’ve came from Grassy Pond, Géorgie, USA, just north of the Florida Panhandle) (had he been a Yucatán box turtle, he would have came from the Reserva de la Biosfera Ría Celestún, Yucatán, MX.) (Box turtles are known to have reproduced with their cousins box turtles, so Mikey could have been a mix of Three-Toed and Yucatán Box turtles, as the Yucatán Box Turtle seem to have similar markings as mikey but are too pale in comparison with him) (do go look at Grassy Pond on google maps, there’s one dude’s photos whom are both hilarious and nightmare fuel)

Development (and added details)

WHICH MEANS, Leo, Raph and Mikey were shipped together, while Donnie was shipped alone to Draxum (i just imagine little turtles in like, Amazon boxes being dropkicked in a random place for Draxum to get them-), BUT each turtle could’ve come from a breeder, but i feel like the person taking care of them would live close to one of their natural habitat. For example, Leo, Raph and Mikey’s breeder would live in Henry (Illinois, USA) which is both close and far from their original spot and Donnie’s breeder would live in Saint-Hyacinthe (Québec, CA) (For three-toed Mikey’s breeder, they would live in Navarre, Florida, USA and for Yucatán Mikey, they would live in Yaxché de Peón, Yucatán, MX) OR MAYBE draxum walked all the way to their natural habitat and stole some babies???

Guys, gals and beach balls, I also made some more research about spiny softshell turtles, they do also live in Illinois.... I think the teenage mutant ninja turtles are illinoisan oh nooooo, i mean, i will keep the headcanon of Asbestos cuz idk, i like that there’s different places, but yes, actually there’s a lot of spiny softshell turtles living in Illinois.

What about the twinsies??

Now now, Donnie and Leo do seem to be twins in ROTTMNT, and what better way to bond than knowing each other since birth. I mean, red-eared sliders are an invasive species (as mentioned earlier) so it is very likely that some can be found in the same perimeter as Donnie, so yeah, their breeder could be the same person. There was some sightings of red-eared sliders in southern Ontario, according to google maps, the itinerary from Saint-Hyacinthe to southern Ontario is like, six hours, which is honestly not bad. With some more research, the Otonabee River (Peterborough County, Ontario, CA) doesn’t seem like that bad of a place, though might be a bit cold for a red-eared slider.

btw this is just research i made randomly, my sources are literally google maps and wikipedia, idk how reliable that is-

Perfekt att laga i förväg och njuta av under flera dagar! 🛒 ingredienser 2 gula lökar, grovt hackade 8 vitlöksklyftor, finhackade 3 morötter, skivade 4 selleristjälkar, skivade 150 g grönkål eller svartkål, grovhackad 2 förpackningar borlottibönor (à 380 g) Ca 150 g ljust bröd (gärna surdegsbröd) Olivolja 1 förpackning hela tomater (à 500 g) 6 dl vatten 1 tsk peperoncino (eller chiliflakes) Salt och peppar Vegeta (eller grönsaksbuljong) Hyvlad parmesan till servering 🔪 Tillagning Fräs lök, vitlök, morötter och selleri i olivolja ca 10 minuter på medelvärme tills de mjuknat ⏲️ Tillsätt tomater, vatten och chili. Låt koka upp och sedan sjuda i ca 10 minuter ⏲️ Skölj bönorna och häll ner dem i grytan tillsammans med den hackade kålen. Rör om och smaka av med vegeta, salt och peppar. Vet inte om alla känner till att dom allra flesta grönsaker som finns i handeln är genmanipulerade i dag.

Det innebär att ex tomaterna är jätte röda och fina för ögonen, men smaker mer vatten än tomat plus att riktiga tomater innehåller mycket mer vitaminer.

Är det så vi vill ha det?

Själv vill jag nog först och främst ha nyttiga grönsaker som smakar det som dom skall smaka. Med andra ord nyttigare och godare!

Varför är det på detta viset, jo som alltid rättfärdigas allt med Mammon 😈 ( ekonomin )

Därför letar jag efter kvalitet.

Denna olivoljan är nästintill helt ren vilket vissa andra kända märken inte är.

Vill uppmuntra odlare som bryr sig mer om sina produkter än endast sina egna vinster!!!

Är sååå trött på denna ideologi där allt rättfärdigas med ekonomi.

det kanske börjar bli dax att öppna dom vackra ögonen.
