20 writer questions
tagged by: @lamortwrites (thank you!)
Tagging: @andrigyn, @defira85, and anyone else who's interested! I'm a little behind the curve so I don't want to tag a bunch of people who've probably already done this, but please consider yourself tagged if you're interested
How many works do you have on ao3?
Nineteen!
What’s your total ao3 word count?
65,507
What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. Möbius Strips and Other Such Eternities (T, 8k, Ketheric writes letters to Isobel after her resurrection) 2. Departure from the Vulgar Crowd (M, 5k, dark urge/gortash, first meeting) 3. They Who Seek to Deceive (M, 10k, dark urge/gortash, post-coronation reunion) 4. Would You Give the Devil This Dance? (Would You be a Part of His Plans?) (T, 8k, dark urge/gortash, Wyll goes to a party and tries to square a circle) 5. The Bloody Spectacle of It (T, 3k, dark urge/gortash, a bhaalist observes his god and master)
What fandoms do you write for?
Bg3 is the only fandom I've put anything up on ao3 for so far, but I've also got a critical role campaign 2 wip and some rogue trader wips that I'm working on!
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Eventually (oops). I always try to respond because comments mean so much to me and I want the person who left the comment to know how much I appreciate it! I'm just, uh, bad at knowing how to do that so it sometimes takes me awhile
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh hmm, that's hard to say! A few of my fics end on darker or less happy notes, but those tend to lean closer toward horror than angst, if that makes sense. I think I'd have to say either Would You Give the Devil This Dance? (Would You be a Part of His Plans?) for just how hard Wyll is working to make things seem okay when they clearly aren't or Not Glory but Power for how the near triumphant ending for young Enver is curdled with our knowledge of where this will lead him.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Also a somewhat difficult question! Probably They Who Seek to Deceive, in the sense that the main two characters certainly seem very happy about how things have turned out!
Do you get hate on fics?
Happily, no.
Do you write smut?
I would say that I haven't yet, but on the other hand my spouse says that I absolutely do. When I pointed out that there isn't any sex in any of my fics, they just said "you know that's worse, right?" So I guess it all depends on what you consider smut lol.
Do you write crossovers?
I haven't yet, but I might give it a try someday
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of! I think my stuff is too niche to be worth stealing for clout, honestly
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, no way is anything I write on that level of popularity!
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I have not! I have no idea how that would even work with my slow and chaotic writing process
What's your all time favorite ship?
Really, really good question. Hard to say. I think dark urge/gortash has to be up there. Shadowgast, obviously. Probably Merlin/Arthur from the TV show too (yes I have bad taste).
What's the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have the start of a very long Gale pov fic that's meant to cover all of acts 1 and 2, plus a tiny bit of act 3. It was going to focus on Gale and Vesper's developing relationship, on Gale slowly putting the bhaalspawn-shaped pieces together, and on moral flexibility and the relationship between wizards and power. So an exceptionally long fic already, made longer by the long-winded chatteriness of Gale's pov reinforcing my own worst tendencies, lol. It's one of those things I doubt I'll ever finish just for the sheer length of it, especially given that I'm not the fastest writer and I keep putting it aside for other projects. Maybe someday!
What are your writing strengths?
I'm a pretty decent worldbuilder I think, though that doesn't necessarily get a lot of airtime in fic. I'm solid with character voice and internal monologue as well.
What are you writing weaknesses?
I get lost in the sauce really easily and end up writing more than is really necessary or helpful to tell the story I'm trying to tell. I'm tend towards overexplaning things and not trusting people to pick up in what I'm trying to say (I'm working on it!)
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
If it's done to serve a purpose in the story, why not? Especially when you're pulling from a source material that does a lot of it to begin with.
First fandom you wrote for?
Almost certainly warrior cats
Favorite fic you've ever written?
It's tough and a very close competition, but in the end I think I have to go with They Who Seek to Deceive. The sheer amount of planning and double meaning I put into everything the characters say and don't say is what makes it for me, I think.

20 Questions: Writing Edition
Yippee! I'm pulling the curtain back on my ao3 Thank you for the tag @eregar!!!
How many works do you have on ao3?
Thirteen! There was once more, but the Star Wars Era and the Taakitz Times deserve to be put to a nice rest somewhere in my google drive folder.
What’s your total ao3 word count? 391,842
What fandoms do you write for?
Arcane and Warhammer40k.
I've written for Baldur's Gate Three, Critical Role, The Locked Tomb Novels, Holly Black's fey universe, Star Wars, and The Adventure Zone. Strangely enough, never for Homestuck or Dragon Age on account that there was all the fic I really ever wanted when I was younger and all of those writers went off to do crazy shit like write published books that get nominated and win Hugos.
My own projects are in the background right now as I am contending daily with the infamous sci-fi and fantasy magazine slush pile. The whitest whale. the cruelest mistress.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always, only with the exception of my Orphic Technologies (Hazardous Tech and the Minds Who BLANK) series where sometimes I don't really know how to respond, and a few comments are just sweet things like 'extra kudos'.
Fanfiction to me is the trench testing grounds for my work and for meeting other people who are interested in writing, reading, and really getting down in the weeds with the original piece that the fanfiction is based off of.
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Cry For Judas where Jester Lavorre's god, patron, co-dependent partner, and at one time implied caretaker gets taken to Super Fey Jail and she begins to violently lose her powers, but a majority of her friends refuse to help her save him because he's "weird" and "immoral". Enter Caleb Wiodgast with none of the tools able to assist in a way that matters and she gives him the ultimatum to follow her into a suicide mission. The end.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think most of my fics have happy to bitter sweet endings. Hazardous Tech ends with Jinx, Ekko, and Viktor alive and realizing they may have as much love for Zaun as they do for their own ambitions despite everyone else being mega-dead. Aleatory ends with Astarion having enough emotional growth to tell my Durge that she was infinitesimally kind to him even at her most vile. It Lives Near The Firescape literally ends with Nott getting to see her family again.
Do you get hate on fics?
I never got hate until I started writing Hazardous Technology and the Minds Who Make It for the Arcane fandom. I have to laugh about it. Good for the soul.
Do you write smut?
hell yeah <3
Do you write crossovers?
I write alternate universes, but never crossovers. Not for me.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I really hope not. A few people have asked to publish Hazardous Technology and the Minds Who Make It to Wattpad and I've politely declined each time. With the ever growing prominence of AI scraping, though, I imagine something I've written is out there in some fuckass large language model as it murders a tree baby and kicks a puppy. Gotta love it.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I still cannot believe this happened. Real life people decided to take the time to translate Hazardous Tech into both Ukranian and Spanish. I really can't go into how much those two languages have immense importance to me personally, but here we are. Life is very strange.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Sort of? I've sent early chapters to folks etc.
What’s your all time favourite ship?
You can't ask this of me. It's probably vrisrezi. I used to really like a Star Wars ship that people still scream about. Timebomb I still love even though they've sorta sanded it down. Widojest, I'll always love you...Let's talk about Dragon Age for six hours....this is like when Letterboxed tries to ask you your favorite four films.
What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I would love to wake up in a world where my Widojest AU where Caleb Widogast is still a torturer and pawn to his vile empire as he chases some silly heretic woman across the world is done...but if we are honest...I'm writing my Warhammer 40k fanfiction right now and that's already doing that premise with more growth and skill than I had even a few years ago.
I do really want to go back to my Machine Herald/Mel fanfiction. I really really do. I was just about to get to the part where she rips off his mask to kiss him thinking it's her fuckass boyfriend Jayce, but instead it was the quiet man she relegated to resource for the entirety of the first season.
My ultimate dream fanfiction I will never have the time for but sits rent free is a very petty re-telling of the Grishaverse that stars the teenage monk Yuri Vedenen while he shares a body with his world's version of Satan.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I think I'm pretty decent at fight scenes, too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I do love purple prose. I also struggle with sentence variety at times and feel paralyzed by synonym paralysis.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I used to do this all the time for Caleb, as Liam playing the character would sprinkle in sentences, but I take it so seriously that often it will be already pre-written phrases, sentences, or things I know for certain are perfect, because then I feel like I'm butchering the culture or the language without a speaker helping.
First fandom you wrote for?
Ava's Demon
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
We Will Outgrow This Place still has such a special place in my heart for being about a weird coming of age type deconstruction.
I do also really still love Aleatory, even for all its flaws and ways I would have now done it differently.
This is a long meme post so I am tagging a whole bunch of folks and everyone can choose whether or not they wanna!
@wizardysseus @florallychaotic @lordcaptains @andrigyn @lilac-lich @rizzikale @vspin @gingerfan24 @galahadiant

this is without a doubt the weirdest thing I have ever done
SALUTATIONS, HELLAVERSE FANDOM!
You probably don't know me, but my name is Godfrey. (Pleasure to be meeting you, quite a pleasure!)
To be quite honest, I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here. As I type this, I'm unspeakably nervous.
"Why are you nervous, Godfrey?" I hear you ask.
Well...
I have a dream
I'm here to tell
About a fanfic I wrote for Hazbin Hotel
(sorry)
Okay okay serious director voice from now.
Look, this is gonna sound absolutely unhinged, but hear me out. (insane rambles under the cut, this bitch is LONG)
In April, a friend and I had a conversation about a song I wrote and how it was. Well, kinda coded to Vox and Valentino.
Then one thing led to another, and two-and-a-bit months and twelve thousand words later, I had written an absolutely sprawling shitshow of a fic (details later in the post)
Even as I was writing it, I knew the written word didn't do it justice.
Hence, this post.
(golly, this sounds really demanding, I am so sorry)
Fuck it, my mom always says "if you don't ask you don't get", and for once I want her to be right.
This is, I suppose, a sort of... call to action, for lack of a better term.
Artists, animators and voice actors, I'd like your help to turn this fic into an animatic, or if we can manage it, an actual animation.
ONLY if we can manage it, not if it's gonna stress anyone out.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Just to get this out of the way, not that I should even need to say this but it's unfortunately 2024. If anyone even SUGGESTS using A.I. your ass is getting blocked. I don't fuck with that artificial bullshit.
On to my next point: I am unequivocally in support of artists and actors being paid for their work.
However, I am a Broke Bitch. Unless we could somehow do crowdfunding or something, I physically would not be able to pay people. This makes me feel like a very shitty person, but unfortunately it's the truth, and I want to be upfront and honest about that.
This is why I hope to get as many people on board as possible for this project, so nobody has to do a shit-ton of work.
I understand that most of you are busy, with work, school/college, or life generally life-ing. Join the club, my life is hectic too.
This is why I really have no set deadline for this. Whether it takes a few months or a few years, as long as it's done well with a minimal amount of stress.
Well, now that that's out of the way, time to go into details a bit.
Characters in order of appearance (this is mainly for VAs)
Vox
Valentino
Velvette
Angel Dust
Charlie
Husk
Alastor
Vaggie
Lucifer
Niffty
Sir Pentious
Asmodeus (yeah this is slightly a Helluva Boss crossover)
Frank (the egg boi)
Fizzarolli
Katie Killjoy
Tom Trench
And lastly, depending on what everyone else thinks, I have an idea for how Verosika and Zestial can be involved.
Will there be musical numbers?
The short answer is YEAH, cause Hazbin is a musical. I cannot stress enough how much the music is My Problem. Literally, apart from people singing, I will take care of that.
My Idea Of The Process
(please bear in mind I have little to no idea of how the animation process works so this is almost definitely wrong, please feel free to correct me about it)
Step 1. Storyboard
Step 2. Voice lines and songs get recorded
Step 3. Animatic (this could very well end up being as far as it gets and that is absolutely cool beans)
Possible Step 4. Animation
Finally, I'd be more than happy to be the one to edit all the clips together. Editing is its own kind of hell, and I'm totally willing to take one for the team.
The Vision
This is. (fffffff) this is the part that's gonna make me sound like a Draconian jerk but I promise I don't mean to come across this way.
I'm hoping to have something that's as close to the style of the show as possible. (this video kinda has the right vibes) This is so the final project will look cohesive and somewhat professional. (god that probably sounded so bad but I genuinely have no idea how else to say it)
TO BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR. I have nothing against artists with other distinctive art styles, in fact I've come across several that I absolutely love.
Regarding The Writing
I've never directed anything before, so forgive me if this is crossing a line, but like.
I have my vision for how I want this to go and I'm kind of. not overly flexible on that. Obviously ideas that people have to get this to work good are more than welcome, but they might not end up happening.
Not to be a dick, but I am sorta the director so I do kinda get to make the call on that stuff. (ew god that felt odd)
If this gets off the ground, I'd have to turn this 12,000 word fic into a script to make it easier for people to read it and not get bogged down by my weird old-fashioned poetic style. This would be sent out to people who express interest at some point.
Just a heads-up: If you're expecting an AO3 link I am so sorry but it's Google Docs, mainly because this thing is wildly self-indulgent and I, for one, do not fancy attracting potential haters. Most people are nice, some are very vocally not. Besides, what would be the fun if everyone knew the story in advance?
BASICALLY
If you're interested shoot me an ask and I'll answer privately (OFF anon pls, I wanna know who I'm workin' with here!) or DM me and I'll get back to you.
If you see this and know someone who'd be interested, feel free to tag them or send this post to them.
I am gonna tag @achilleanauthor (my right hand man over here) @emeraldcity1900 and @onesidedradiostatic as they're kind of the only blogs I know who are I guess. Active in the Hellaverse fandom.
If this gains enough traction and I get people on board, I'll be setting up a Discord server (another first for me).
Watch this space, and as Alastor would say, "Stay tuned..."
#the chaos duck has spoken#hazbin hotel#helluva boss#i felt like. such an asshole even writing this post#but yeah.#halp meh#hazbin fan project

🥑🪲🥐🔪🦷
oops didn't think this through
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
God literally all of you drive busted-ass Ford Focuses (Foci?) so physically moving the body is an issue. Tentatively @masterqueef99 knows enough about anatomy to help me chop it up efficiently and uhhhhhh @subdee is the only person I know that doesn't drive a Ford Focus. Don't worry about what's in the bag.
🥐 ⇢ name one internet reference that will always make you laugh
The Moonbase Alpha debacle. I don't care if it's an old meme, one day it will be old enough to be vintage and I'll be ready.
youtube
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Surprisingly not murder-related. Was looking stuff up for Pinion and went down a rabbithole of extremely poorly documented science on highly specific intersex conditions, still never really found any good answers or research aside from personal testimony from the like two people in the world that have the condition and did a Reddit AMA.
(It's caused google to also switch from profiling me as someone with crippling erectile dysfunction from my TNI research to god knows what at this point.)
🦷 ⇢ share some personal wisdom or a life hack you swear on
When I am writing I like to start from the one scene I can see super clearly in my head and then build outwards from that. Makes it easier to build up to things more deliberately. Also I swear by making an outline but I know some maniacs that are only hindered by that because they get too into the weeds so who knows!
🪲 ⇢ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
"Everything is going to be alright," said Ignis again, leaning down behind the car to retrieve the handgun from the cupholder. "You've been very brave. You're being very brave, Noct --"
He didn't come back up right away. Noctis craned his neck to see, and immediately regretted it as he heard Ignis retch.
TRICK ME INTO WRITING THIS THING AGAIN WHY DON'T YOU I SEE HOW IT IS. This is from a XV/VII crossover AU thing??? Because apparently I just have a fascination with this game I don't even like. I dunno man I just work here.
There's still some bugs I have to hammer out in terms of the plot, and I mostly wrote some of the "first chapter" as a proof of concept, but I'm pretty happy with it. No Ignis isn't literally just Pinion in this shhhhh you didn't see anything.

Ghost Hunt x My Hero Academia Crossover
So I've wanted to explore the concept of Mai Taniyama's abilities in Ghost Hunt as as Quirk in My Hero Academia for awhile now because, frankly, she has the groundwork for an interesting one: Through clairvoyant dreams, Mai has the ability to witness past events, communicate with the dreams of other people, and even pass along small objects in dreams. She's also incredibly intuitive and has been able to rely on gut feelings in past investigations. (This last one may or may not be a Quirk thing.)
There's a few applications here. Firstly, the retrocognition would be a useful Quirk since it's primary function in Ghost Hunt's canon is showing Mai exactly how a person died. In the My Hero 'verse, this would allow her to determine if an unnatural death was accidental or a homicide, and in a missing person case, the astral projection side of her abilities can allow her to locate victims and determine what condition they're in and maybe find where they are.
The major drawback to this ability, though, is it would be a hellish Quirk to cope with as the way her dreams work, she is often compelled to relive the death as though it were hers. Not exactly the key to a healthy state of mind experiencing the last thoughts and feelings of a person who's died, and possibly violently at that.
...
Realistically, not the flashiest of powers, so she would definitely be on the more obscure side of the Pro-Hero popularity spectrum, probably somebody only Deku has heard about with any real know-how on who she is and what she can do. For comparative purposes, her career path would align closer with Aizawa's in that she can't rely on her Quirk to fight and therefore has to resort to alternative methods to handle a crisis. Abilities speaking, she's definitely geared more toward reconnaissance, stealth, and investigation, which is how she operates in Ghost Hunt anyway and why I went with a darker color scheme for her costume.
I want to incorporate her Nine Cuts somehow, but I haven't settled on a way to do that quite yet.
The name Epimetheia comes from the Greek Titan Epimetheus. I could have gone with some feminine form of Morpheus, the god of dreams, but I really think Mai's retrocognition is the core trait the of her power. Epimetheus is the titan god of hindsight. He 'knew all that came before.'
...
As always for Ghost Hunt, I tend to write Mai as a young adult, so she is not a student in this. Actually, for this crossover, she is much older than the main cast. She's in her twenties in the fanart shown here, but this is decades before the actual timeline.
And with that, here's a brief, un-edited snippet of something I've been playing with:
...
“We’ve actually met once before,” Hawks said abruptly.
“Have we?” Taniyama turned to him, confused. Her expression brightened somehow and the tired, hollowness of her eyes was gone.
“Yep. I was just a little kid then, so I don’t blame you for not remembering.” It was so long ago that he barely remembered it. “It was at the zoo. I’d heard they were letting kids in for free that day, so I found a chance to get away from my mom and headed out. I always wanted to see a real elephant.”
Her lips curled into a warm smile. “And did you?”
“Sure did.” He bobbed his head in brief nod. “I was standing in front of their enclosure and someone knocked into me with a stroller or something and I dropped my plushie. As I was trying to get it back, all these people kept kicking it out of the way or stepping on it. And then it landed by your feet and you picked it up.”
Taniyama was silent.
“I remember you crouched down to give it back to me and you had the biggest smile on your face. You asked if it was mine. Thing is, though…I think you noticed how dirty I was. You asked if I was okay and where my mom was. You even asked if you could buy me a pair of shoes.” He hadn’t let her. If he’d returned home with a brand new pair of shoes instead of the secondhand ones that were falling apart, his dad would have beaten him and demanded to know where he’d gotten them. Or he would have taken and pawned them for cash the first chance he got. Or both. But the hero Epimetheia must’ve suspected that much when he kept refusing her offers to help him with his silence and his nervous shaking head. “And then your smile became sad and you asked me…
“Do you need help?”
“You were so warm and kind, and I'm sad to say I think that scared me a bit. I wasn't used to that from adults and so I ran away. But even after the Commission took me in, I hoped I would see you again.” He turned to face her and was horrified to see her eyes running with tears. “Whoa, whoa, whoa! What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Shit, I made an old woman cry! She’s not that old, but I made her cry!
Taniyama placed a scarred hand over her mouth. “All these years, I wondered what happened to that little boy I saw at the zoo.”

I know I've talked about this before, but God, I'm never going to stop resenting the hold that Harry Potter has on me.
As an autistic person, special interests never really leave you, and that's more true for longer-standing ones. I really can't explain how all-consuming they are, how much time and energy and love you pour into them, how much joy and comfort you get from them. I'm kind of between special interests right now, after finishing both Constellations and Blue Food Project, and it's unsettling. Makes me restless, leaves a lot of time in my day. (Time I can use to look for jobs! Positives.)
Anyway. Harry Potter was definitely my longest-standing special interest to date. It was my SI through most of elementary school, and given the choice, I would do nothing except reread them, over and over and over and over again. My parents had to institute a rule where every time I finished the series, I had to wait a certain amount of time before I read it again, and I always did as soon as the time was up. There are parts of it, useless stupid lines, that I can still recite from memory. ("And he was even brave enough to nibble the end off a funny gray one that turned out to be pepper" has always been my favorite example.) I don't engage much with the Harry Potter fandom, because it's a mutant factioned thing that kind of scares me, but the story stays with me nonetheless.
Like many other fans, this letter broke my heart; I'm sure you know the one even without clicking the link. She's only gotten worse since then (every so often I still look at her Twitter account and mourn) but this was the beginning of the end. Most authors, I can forgive their transgressions; I can trust that they've grown, I can accept that their work is flawed, and I can enjoy what I read despite that.
Every since that letter, and plenty of the subsequent scandals besides, I've been unable to do that. I read any part of Harry Potter and I can see nothing but flaws. I see sexism, and ableism, and cultural appropriation and colonialism and hypocrisy. I think, why are there so many crowds of tittering girls? and why does everyone hate Fleur seemingly just for being French and pretty? and why did she design the Slug Club without any acknowledgement of 'this is literally how to break into a career field?' There is nothing there for me but frustration and hurt.
I've seen people in the trans community complain about cis folk asking if they can 'still enjoy' Harry Potter, which I understand. (I consider myself nonbinary, but my gender identity is so unimportant to me that I still consider my place in that community tenuous.) But this isn't that. This is frustration. Harry Potter was carved into me years ago, and I can't seem to dig it out, and I have yet to decide what to do with that.
But the story stays with me. The memory of it is inescapable. I don't even really need to reread the books to write fanfics, most of the time; I know every plot point by heart. How could I not? And every unanswered question, every point of shoddy worldbuilding that drives me nuts about that world - I can fix those. I do it all the time in other fandoms. It's really not that hard to create the answers to the plot holes that bother you.
Most of the Harry Potter fics I write are crossovers - Harry Potter goes well with just about any world, kind of like Avengers does. But there's one I've been playing with that bugs me in a special way.
I mentioned finishing 'Constellations,' my two part series where Percy Jackson goes to therapy for everything he goes through in the PJO and HoO books. That was a love letter to Percy Jackson, to Rick Riordan's writing. Like any writer, he has his flaws and weak points, but I love it nonetheless, every part of it. I wrote it with the intent to supplement and highlight canon for everything I love about it.
Now, I find myself writing a similar fic for Harry Potter, with Harry Potter going through therapy. It's in the beginning stages yet (such stories are obviously difficult) but it's such a fascinating topic that I can't shake it. What happens when a survivor of such vicious neglect suddenly is accused of seeking attention at every turn? How can someone so victimized by the Ministry come to trust them enough to work as an Auror? Did Dumbledore truly understand what he subjected Harry to with the Dursleys?
But with Constellations, I had respect for Riordan's writing that I don't have for Rowling's. Such a story would come from a completely different place. And that's fascinating, too. It's just complicated.
I'm not going anywhere with this, I guess. It's just- frustrating, to so thoroughly resent a story and a cast that I also love so much.
#long post#harry potter#hp#jk rowling#sorry it didn't seem right to break it anywhere#it has been YEARS now of trying to deal with this#autism#special interests#just because this post is arguably almost more about that than about harry potter#i kind of want to do a complete reread of the books and annotate everything that bothers me#would that help? maybe!#i don't know

20 writer questions!
I was tagged by @mashamorevvna and I'm doing this instead of grading peoples' final projects. thank you for the tag btw! this is a fun set of questions it made me want to write more :3
How many works do you have on ao3?
45! Most are quite short though, I've done a lot of 2k-4k oneshots.
What’s your total ao3 word count?
179,911. wow that feels like a lot
What are your top five fics by kudos?
Appetites (BG3, Astarion/Gale)
nor heaven peep through the blanket of dark (BG3, Astarion/Gale)
you up? (Detroit: Become Human, Kamski/Connor)
Artificial Conscience (Detroit: Become Human, Kamski/Connor)
At Knifepoint (BG3, Astarion/Gale)
as usual, more reflective of what ships are popular and the timing of the fics than the ones I think are the best! bloodweave is big and kamcon was also reasonably popular in its day
What fandoms do you write for?
BG3 (24) > DBH (16) > Hetalia (2) > various one-offs. I would like to write for Rogue Trader and Arcane though, so perhaps those soon...!
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, usually! I don't respond to every single comment (because sometimes I forget) but I respond to most. I just respond because I really appreciate them, getting a nice comment genuinely makes my day!
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh I have a lot that imply or outright state something pretty bad! I mean that urge often miscalled free will leaves Gale knowing that Gortash can override his ability to control his mind and his body any time. And Faced With A Better Liar is similar "permanently brain-fucked by mind control" situation, which some would argue is a fate worse than death.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
No question Self-Made, that is just about the nicest I'm capable of (outside of my lighter oneshots) and it is the most genuinely happy ending I've done (victim escapes and perpetrator seems to show at least some attempt to change their behavior).
Do you get hate on fics?
Super rarely, like I can count the number of times I have on one hand. I've gotten 100 times more nice feedback, which I really appreciate.
Do you write smut?
Yes, often! Though I would argue that my writing about things that are not sex is more horny than the writing that depicts literal sex. i love writing about people eating and i love psychological horror + body horror. you can read in the body horror that i'm clearly getting off more on that than the actual sex
Do you write crossovers?
It's only lightly a crossover, but Frankenstein Complex is a crossover with Ex Machina in that it uses the DBH characters for a similar story concept. Otherwise no, they're not usually my thing.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Mildly yes (I had a few lines stolen for someone's fic with a similar concept, and I was annoyed by it). However it wasn't stealing the entire fic as much as "I would have been fine with it if this person mentioned being inspired by mine". Since it happened that once and never again, I let it be.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, though it is SUCH a goal to write a fic that inspires someone to do a Chinese translation... Closest I've gotten:
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Not fully cowritten, but thrallwine (his) and precipitate (mine) are a collab between @lamortwrites and me to write the same fic from two perspectives!
What’s your all time favourite ship?
god this is an impossible question. I can't say me and Omii that's so cheesy but it's obviously me and Omii. That aside I will for sure always have an unreasonable soft spot for amechu. Runners-up go to galetash and kamcon <3
What’s the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
tephra (please)
What are your writing strengths?
i do not pull punches and i love drama and hamminess. and i have a good sense of rhythm to my writing from the music/lyrical inspiration.
What are your writing weaknesses?
i honestly think plot, especially for longer pieces. easy for me to write myself into a corner!
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
Almost always avoid, but I think it can be OK if used sparingly and intentionally. Don't have a bilingual character just start speaking their other language. But I have one or two lines where I was like, no I am really sure I need this to be in Chinese/Russian/etc. Include the translation if you do it.
First fandom you wrote for?
hetalia baby (i was 12 and posted it on FFN lmaoooo)
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
oh this is hard! though i do have a massive soft spot for that urge often miscalled free will. i'll go with that
ok done! tagging: i will shout out @tuffgreg, @lamortwrites, @bharv, @femmeharel! <3

20 questions for Fic Writers
thank you to everyone who tagged me and I'm sorry it's taken me a month to do this.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
25 plus a few that I've posted anonymously. bonus points if anyone ever finds them.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
348,031
3. What fandoms do you write for?
just HP/marauders these days
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A Brief History of Dragons - people like this Remus I think.
Beneath a Big Blue Sky - my love letter to Yorkshire.
Statten Park - an old one but I do actually still like this, it's a lot of fun.
Sunshine on Leith - can we knock this out of the top five already please.
And a Hedgehog in a Pine Tree - I'm so surprised that this is here, it's such an inconsequential little thing. people like Christmas I suppose.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
oh god I try I really do, every email that comes through with a new comment makes my day but I'm terrible for leaving them all unanswered in my inbox. I'm sorry to everyone who has ever left a comment that I haven't responded to.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Proctor House for sure. A Winter, Forever Ago is pretty bleak too.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
most of them! probably the most joyous is something like Beneath a Big Blue Sky because you've been on a decent journey to get there. that goose threatening everyone's happiness and all.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not really. one comment I do get sometimes is that the way I write Remus/Sirius is OOC and yes I agree, it absolutely is. Remus in Beneath a Big Blue Sky has nothing to do with e.g. Remus in Ullswater. those men have never even met in a bathroom. James in A Brief History of Dragons is an arsehole compared to living legend James in Beneath a Big Blue Sky. Sirius in Statten Park is a complete stranger to Sirius in Heartstones. none of them, really, have much to do with their canon counterparts. just bits here and there but I haven't read the HP books in well over a decade and I don't really remember what these characters are actually like beyond the surface-level stuff, so a lot of what I write is fairly OOC. it's all done knowingly and intentionally and I'm not going to change that.
9. Do you write smut. If so, what kind?
oh gosh a little bit a little bit. please understand that I'm a repressed Englishwoman and I'm trying my hardest. Seventeen Hours and Statten Park are both fairly smutty. I'd like to write more but I'm awkward af.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
no not really my thing but I do like to take other stories and plonk marauders characters into similar worlds - Ullswater was very much inspired by If We Were Villains.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no but people keep nabbing them to get them printed and then apparently sell them? so actually maybe yes. grow up.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
no because I'm a control freak and I don't allow my work to be replicated. sorry about it. I think people have done it for personal offline projects though and that's absolutely fine.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
back in the day I used to co-write with my then-partner but it was just bits and pieces, not full fics. again, I'm a control freak so I'd struggle with this. I need to get my own way always.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
right so I should say Remus/Sirius but honestly... Remus/James just reaches places other pairings simply cannot. so it's a toss up.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
oh god how long have you got. I think one of the reasons I dislike Sunshine on Leith so much is because I put that stupid note at the end promising a third part in a few weeks. that was in 2020 and I've still not done it. help.
16. What are your writing strengths?
description, particularly when it comes to: natural landscapes, buildings, food, weather. I think I'm alright at witty dialogue too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
actually writing anything down. also action, can't do action to save my life.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't think I've done it but I'd give it a go.
19. First Fandom you wrote for?
I think it was LOTR and yes it probably still exists somewhere on an old desktop computer at my dad's house and yes that thought keeps me up at night.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
The Proctor House and Beneath a Big Blue Sky

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by the amazing, sexy, incredible @wormdebut - thanks, love! ❤️
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Eighteen and and a whole batch of new ones incoming for the @steddieholidaydrabbles - so excited, weeeeeee!!!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
308,387
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Stranger Things
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Hic sunt dracones
Someone who cares
Possession
See you in a crown
Just add water
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, always! (Well, except for the rude ones but I can count those on my fingers, thank God!) Every single comment is so fucking precious to me. You didn’t only take the time to read my story, but you liked it enough to go to that little box and tell me your thoughts? Kissing you, kissing you, KISSING YOU!!! 😘
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I’m a happy endings gal all the way! If I’m gonna put them through the horrors for hundreds of thousands of words, I damn well wanna give them their happily ever after! That being said, I have this little microfic where tentacle lake monster Steeb enthralls Eddie to lure people to him so that he can eat them. Sorry, Eddie!
(He’ll absolutely bring him O’Donnell and Principal Higgins, so it’s fine.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hic sunt dracones! I mean hello? They are mates and Steve is King and everyone is happy and my boy gets flower crowns and apple pie and hot, hot dragon sex forever after!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Someone once felt the need to leave me a very passive aggressive comment on how my Brit slips were “completely ruining the vibe” of my fics (and then I wrote a microfic about British!Steve, I’m still laughing).
Oh, and then there was that one time I was accused of racism.
But apart from that, everyone has been lovely and fantastic and supportive and I really love it here. I’ve met so many more lovely people than assholes.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ummm … I’m the person with the 100k dragon porn fic. Hell yes, I write smut! I love writing smut, all kinds of smut!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, sorry, my brain doesn’t do crossovers. XD
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I’d be thrilled to see it happen. Any and all transformative works are always welcome, just be sure to tag me because I’d love to see them and you will have my sword and my axe for eternity and I will scream about it forever!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I once co-wrote an original work with a friend when we were like 15? We had no idea what the fuck we were doing and it never got finished, but it was a blast!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Steddie. I love them, I’m obsessed with them, I think I’ll be writing fic for them for the rest of my life!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’m committed to finishing all of my WIPs, that’s why I’m a good girl and only ever work on one large fic at a time with smaller projects on the side, but there’s SO MANY I WANNA WRITE STILL!!!!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Several people have told me that I’m really good at scene setting and evoking imagery, at painting very vivid pictures in their minds … so I guess there’s that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I wish I could write stunning, creative metaphors like @wynnyfryd . The river Styx one from the trailer park AU? Blew me away! I could never come up with that!
I also admire @wingedquill for being able to be concise and still so fucking intense in their fics! I'm a wordy bitch myself and always in awe of that skill.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I’ve never been in a situation where I was faced with the decision, but I think I’d rather describe it instead of typing out the actual words? Such as “they exchanged a few sentences in Spanish”. I’m only fluent in one language besides English, so I feel like I’d either need to get help or include a horrifically mangled Google translation and end up being unintentionally hilarious.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The first fandom I published for was Stranger Things.
The first fandom I wrote for was Harry Potter, back before it went to shit (Wolfstar shipper of the very first hour here)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Hic sunt dracones, my beloved! This fic is everything I ever wanted, both in terms of writing and the echo it received. I still daydream about these two (and have another bonus drabble coming in December).

I was still pouting about how a show from CN got to have a crossover with Sonic and it wasn't the Powerpuff girls 😤 when suddenly some wonderful marvelous fantastic news popped up!🥳Evil has been defeated! That disgusting PPG live action project is officially CANCELLED 👏🎊🎉THANK GOD😮💨 after the gross bullshit garbage vomit 2016 cursed reboot 🤢🤮 I had enough of seeing my girls been tarnished like that, but you know what?
One good thing came of that abomination and that is that our god creator Craig McCracken decided to make a proper reboot by his own professional hands!🥰 A ppg reboot with continuity with begining and ending! You did it so well with kid cosmic so we are putting all our hopes and dreams on you Craig! I'm putting my faith on you don't fail me!😖🙏(If the crossover with sonic happens I'll be very thankful and blessed too🥺🙏 maybe I'm asking too much but if it happened with Ok ko why not?)I'm guessing he saw the 2016 reboot and his heart was broken, his eyes bleed, were set on fire and fell off his face, then he understood that's how all us fans felt and he decided to try heal our souls.
So, to celebrate I'm going to give my analysis of the original Powerpuff girls and my reasons to love them:

BLOSSOM: The nice leader girl: She is like the least favorite in popular polls, but i think she is just really misunderstood, most people don't get the appealing of her character when it comes to her flaws, come on guys be honest do you really want a character perfect without a flaw? NOPE because THEN she would actually be an obnoxious Mary Sue, so let's check those said flaws: she is a proudfull "miss know-it-all perfect", she is smug and arrogant, a tattleteller, bossy, envious, hypocrite, nagging yada yada. Ok first yes, she wants at all costs to be a perfect girl, is a personal achievement and she works hard for it and usually with her good plans, good results and good grades and be praised for being polite she gets her way so she feels pride out of it and that's why she is smug and arrogant and the appeal of this is that she actually is far from being perfect, we saw her fail a lot and not being right all the time, we see her feeling the consequences of being too proud and stubborn refusing to accept she could be wrong, she is bossy but she isn't an indisputable tyrant ruler, her sisters would and will disobey if they disagree with her and she can't stop them, she has been mean but all the sisters had at some point, we all have been mean at some point but it's not a Princess Morebucks kind of character in general she is very nice, she is kind and polite, she wants to do what she thinks is best and right, she means well even when she is wrong and regrets it if she is wrong, she believes in Justice, she likes to learn and that's why she is so smart and a good strategic leader, also even if she is most of the time confident she has lots of insecurities and in her quest of being the perfect girl she wants to be she becomes a drama queen when she fails big and overreacts badly, she can be clumsy, can lie to cover her ass, she is playful and naughty, she makes jokes and pranks, she has no problem showing love (less intense than bubbles and less shy than buttercup), she always looks at bubbles in a fondly way and even if she fights a lot with buttercup they show mutual sisterly love, she is really a very nice girl. Her biggest fear is failure, that's why she is a miss perfect, it's relatable! I remember the special interview when she got sassy because she was called the smart one and she said she didn't like it because the smart one is the "boring" one and then she goes full jealousy over her sisters (i lost it 😂 when she said: "what makes bubbles the cute one?" "I'm cute! Look at this bow!"), Saying she is smart cute and tough the whole package 😂, all three are the whole package but she stands out for being smart.

BUTTERCUP: The jerk with the golden heart, lot of spice our dear childhood tomboy, a girl who liked to show people who is boss💪😎 and could have the roughest attitude while wearing a dress 👊💅, she was an icon for those tomboy girls or girls who had a tomboy phase in childhood, she was a girl who in general liked "boyish" things and sometimes girl things too, she could do both perfectly: a girly giggle and a war battle scream, i can kick your ass wearing a skirt. Often she was mean or even a bully sometimes towards people or her sisters, the one who gets more often in trouble because she is a hot headed impulsive girl, she isn't very polite, misbehaves, is reckless, is stubborn, she could be insensitive, she gets into fights with her sisters easily and gets carried away with the villains, she doesn't consider herself good at school and gets defensive about it but tries hard to prove she could do good as a leader too, she gets angry easily, she can be greedy, selfish... Yeah all that stuff but damn! She is such a really good girl, the contrast of all that with her other side, her vulnerable side... The way she loves just as intensely as her sisters, how despite not liking being a sap she happily let's her dad give her hugs and kisses, she can be brutal but she can feel an intense guilt for her actions and gets sad and frustrated with herself, how much she works hard to look tough and strong that she ends up being too rough and mean... Don't misunderstand my girl, she also learns from her mistakes, she can be extremely friendly, even if she isn't very trusting she gave people second chances, she has a temper but she isn't grumpy all the time, she always tries to have fun with her sisters and friends, is so obvious how much she loves her family and dear she is so shy... Also she is the one who struggles the most with emotions and is on guard with her feelings but she is the one who first got a crush that made her act sweet, shy and dreamy and got her heart broken 💔, the first thing she did? Hug her sisters, yep she is introduced as someone who doesn't like mushy stuff or being affectionate but like I said she has no problem when her dad gives her love and also buttercup herself gives hugs and even kisses when she is happy enough to forget she is suposed to be too tough to be that sweet. How can you not relate with her at some point? How unfair is that she didn't get a special power, at least you could say she is the one with more stamina when it comes to physical strength, i mean the girl likes to punch giant hunks of meat as a hobby, she works out off duty she absolutely deserves the title of the toughest fighter.

BUBBLES: Here she is! My sweet best girl!🥰 Cute and sweet until you cross her! My personal favorite! I can relate to her because when you have a certain personality or tastes sometimes people doesn't takes you seriously, i mean for example people who is energetic and always looks too happy is often misjudged by others as "stupid" or "clueless" as if you could never be serious and they infantilize you (I've been through that) and also because she is the artistic one.
So if Blossom is the brain 🧠 and Buttercup is the muscle 💪 Bubbles is definitely the heart 🩵 of the team, the glue that keeps them together. It's been said that she doesn't deserve her popularity because the show favors her too much or something, like she doesn't get in trouble for her actions, well aside certain episode I'll say that is mostly untrue, she gets reprimanded for her misbehavior as much as her sisters. Then what else? She is a crybaby, she is too naive, oversensitive, too emotional, coward, an airhead, too childish, too loud and also stupid and spoiled WOW, for starters there's nothing wrong with being naive she just want to see the bright side, her sisters have been deceived as well lots of times, even Blossom, she is sensitive and cries a lot but we see her trying and struggling to be strong too, she doesn't hide her emotions and that will make her better at process her feelings than anyone who hides them, also sensitive or emotional she is no pushover, normally she let's someone else defend her because is not in her nature to jump straight into an argument but if there is no one to defend her she will stand up by herself but when it comes to defend others she won't hesitate, she doesn't like when their sisters argue but she doesn't have any problem fighting them if she is provoked, she can be really sassy and her sassiness is hilarious, she likes to tease too and is mischievous, yes Bubbles can be naughty, she is playful and plays cute on purpose to get her way so she isn't stupid (she has her shining moments), she is also a lot more humble than her sisters since she doesn't describe herself as better than them but just AS good as them (or as strong and as mean) anytime when she gets her strength questioned because of her cuteness and whoever underestimated her will soon regret it, she is scared of the dark or bugs or certain monsters, that doesn't make her a coward that makes her brave because she still confronts them regardless and she is really so extra sometimes 😂😂 is so funny! Also she is the most open and affectionate of the trio! She'll hug everyone and she loves so easily (ok on that i can't relate 🙃) she is also energetic, empathetic and positive honestly... Best sweet girl ever!! She really owns the sugar!
See? Characters full of flaws and virtues!! The magic of a three dimensional character well done is just how relatable they are, this three superpowered little girls are just so human. Every reason to love them! And why they deserve respect if you're going to make a reboot of them... So Craig great cartoon Creator we'll leave it in your hands 🙏🥺

20 Questions for fic writers
I got tagged by @thetragicallynerdy, thank youuu <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
57 since 2018!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
494,281, the vast majority of which is from the last year and a half.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently just Our Flag Means Death, but previously Schitt’s Creek.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
to wild homes we return to (Schitt's Creek) (5,943 words)
an atypical emotional response to common sounds (Our Flag Means Death (TV)) (6,612 words)
Made With Love (Schitt's Creek) (8,942 words)
What happened in Vegas? (Schitt's Creek) (1,000 words)
actually, the markup is very good (Schitt's Creek) (1,166 words)
I started writing Schitt’s Creek fic when the fandom was relatively small, so I suspect that accounts for the prominence here. Funny enough, the one OFMD fic in this list is the most recent thing I posted. The stats on that thing blow my mind a little (not that ever do, like, big name fan writer numbers).
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I reply to every one if I can. Sometimes when people binge-read a multi-chapter fic and leave comments on several chapters I find it hard to come up with something to say in reply to all but the last (or specific things mentioned in the comment), but I love when that happens!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Gotta be in a time trap, an efficient little 5+1 not-exactly-a-fix-it OFMD post-S1 timeloop fic where Stede keeps waking up with Chauncey’s pistol in his face.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Skipping the Schitt’s Creek fics, because those are largely happy fluff to begin with… Probably the most uncomplicatedly upbeat happy endings are found in Disruptors and We’re Gonna Live In The Trees.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No one has ever said anything unkind to me on AO3.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Oh, god, I’m fucking TRYING, and it is a TRIAL. It is NOT my default, but it’s personal shit I wanna work on, so. It’s generally not mlm, though ‘an atypical emotional response to common sounds’ is the one exception. Currently pushing myself to improve throughout the t4t tealoranges climate apocalypse fic the way things are going (with deep gratitude to tragic for their support and advice).
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Heh, my first attempt at writing smut was a Schitt’s Creek/The Good Place crossover, Wine Tasting! Eleanor helps Stevie explore her bisexuality as a kind of soul-saving thing (look, I don’t know). I’ve written a few other things that are heavily inspired by other things, or rewrite/twist something into the current obsession (OFMD, always OFMD), but no full-on crossovers.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge. That’d be weird.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nah, though a few have been recorded as podfics. ♥️
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Ask Me Anything: A TealOranges SMAU was totally co-authored with @thetragicallynerdy, of course. I also like to say that Kitchen Mistakes & How To Avoid Them was in many ways a collaboration with my friend rose, who was muuuuch more than a beta reader, even if they won’t claim it as such. And oh no I’ve dropped the ball on this (it takes effort) but several pals in one of my group chats were co-writing a silly thing together, Public Relations: An OFMD Celebrity SMAU. I really enjoy collaborating on creative projects and would do it again! Though, uh, probably no more SMAUs. 😂
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
tbh ships in and of themselves are not my main approach to enjoying things, though I realize that’s the structure a lot of fanworks take (including my own). I really do love writing Jim/Oluwande and Ed/Stede. I know, boring ol’ canon ships, but whatever. Those guys can fit all kinds of wild AUs and personal shit!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ehhh, honestly, if I abandon a WIP, it’s probably dead. I have at least one thing that might look abandoned because I haven’t updated it since August but I swear it isn’t. Probably. Ennhhh.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I’m good at picturing/researching the setting enough to shade in the details and make it feel real for the story. Dialogue, because I hear it in my head and rewind and play it back and write it down. Internal monologue/complicated feelings.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh god, smut. Smut is SO hard. Describing bodies/clothes and probably to a large extent facial expressions, too. Em dashes. Tagging.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I’ve really only done tiny bits of Spanish dialogue in fic. I took Spanish in school ages ago, but have never ever ever been fluent, so it’s pretty minimal and uses reference sites/translation tools to do my best that the phrases make sense in context, etc. If it were more than that, I’d want to confer with someone who’s a native speaker or has a lot of direct cultural experience, but generally I don’t think I’m ambitious enough to try to write outside my own experience in that particular way.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Schitt’s Creek, unless you count what might be considered songfic back when I was obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead in high school in the late ‘90s.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Hmm, an impossible question, really. Maybe all that i need is you and the sea (an accidental time travel amnesiac love story told in five parts), because it was perhaps my first experience with something that bananas taking over my head and just flowing out of my brain over the course of several days, and it touches on all kinds of themes and issues and jokes I include in other fics. I learned a lot working on it, too. I just think it’s neat.

Hypothetical time (yep, it's another one of these)
You've been asked to make a sequel to one of your favourite movies. What movie you following up?
(I'd personally go with 1991's The Little Engine That Could, maybe do like a Christmas or Halloween special or something)
OOOH. See, this one is an extra-toughie, because the last movie I pined for a sequel to, was... Wreck-it Ralph. (Weird, they never made a sequel to that movie? Nono, no, don't correct me.)
Actually.. Could I make my own sequel to Wreck-it Ralph? The original was a 30-something year production and love-letter to the history of videogames; I think that I'd like to continue that trend. I always wanted to have more time to explore the insides of the games, and maybe get some more deep-cut favourites in there. I would LOVE another hour-thirty romp through refference after refference, whilst we explore some new narrative. Half of what made the first one so great, was just the sheer novelty and enjoyment of 'oh my god! It's Q*bert! It's Tapper! They're in Pacman! Sonic is at the party!' -- It's the same reason that, say, the Smash Bros series is so much fun - it's just an excuse to put a bunch of known characters, from semi-obscure to household-name, and let you geek out about that! Maybe discover some new characters.
I don't want to spend a LOT of time talking about why I didn't like Wralph Breaks the Internet... But I will say, it felt like they missed the mark entirely on why the references in the first film were charming - because every reference in WBTI is just... It feels gross. "eBay! Amirite! YouTube! You know what youtube is!" -- What emotion is this supposed to elicit? This isn't the same at all as when King Candy inputs the Konami Code on a NES controller.... You're not pulling from my knowledge base, you're just showing me product placement. This isn't like how they had the concept art Sub-Zero standing in the halls, this is just... Sad. Like, I KNOW Capcom crossovers are dime-a-dozen, but there's still nothing quite as exciting as 'IS THAT CAMMY IN THE BACKGROUND? OF MY BIG-SCREEN CINEMA FLICK?' -- And then you get to explain to your unassuming friends why Cammy is great.
Maybe it's a story about... The cabinets being bought as a lot, and being moved to a large F2P Arcade, with a tonne of other cabinets? A sort of 'moving to the big city' movie, except the 'big city' is a two-floor F2P passion project, and now the Sugar Rush cabinet is neighbour to pop'n music, and they've got Jubeat and MaiMai, and IS THAT REIMU and it's all so very much to take in -- Litwak's hadn't really seen a new cabinet, so now they're also having to comprehend all of these... Like... 2018 cabinets, and, and, and... It's sort of a story about changes and moving on, like... Accepting that the world is changing so rapidly, and finding your place in that world. I think if you gave it 5-10 years, that sort of story would stick well with the people who watched it as a teen or kid in 2012.
IT COULD BE SO GOOD.

[20 Question Fic Writer Tag]
I wasn't tagged but I've always wanted to do one of these, so who cares! I'm doing it anyway!
How many works do you have on AO3? 85 and counting
What is your AO3 word count? 417 089
What fandoms do you write for? FFXIV, Genshin, and (newly) BG3, mostly. I dabble in others, but I rarely share them.
What are your top five fics by kudos? The Daily Inconveniences of an Au Ra, The Detriments of Being a Fox, To Catch a Fox by His Tail, Reckless and Wrecked, and The Soft Green Glow of Affection.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to whenever I can! Sometimes I can't come up with anything better to say than "Yay!" or "I'm glad you liked it!" but I always try to put in the effort to make my responses personal when I can. It's a lot of effort to comment, and I want to show my appreciation!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Nidhogg's Final Revenge, which actually has an even angstier alternate ending that I opted not to post. The one it's got is dark enough on it's own :P
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Why is this question so hard? Maybe No Regrets? A lot of my fics have peaceful or happy-ish endings, but I can't think of any that end "happily ever after"
Do you get hate on fics? Not often
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Sure do. It is my personal mission to prove that consent is sexy
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Not a big fan of crossovers, personally
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope. I've thought about translating my own fics before tho, just as a side project
Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Many many years ago. I'd definitely be open to doing it again! But most of my artist friends are visual artists
What's your all-time favourite ship? h o w am I supposed to answer this, I am the king of multishipping. Can I do it by fandom? I could do it by fandom. Maybe. Probably. (Wangxian. I don't write for mdzs, but... I think it's wangxian.)
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? I will finish my Haurchefant lives/WoL dies AU. I will I will I will.
What are your writing strengths? Really evocative descriptions. I think I'm really good at drawing the reader into the scene.
What are your writing weaknesses? Please for the love of the gods do not make me write action. Or do, I guess, so I can get better at it, but >.<
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I have... a lot of thoughts on this. Tl;dr, if you're just going to translate it right after anyway, don't bother. If you're doing it because you expect your reader to understand or because you intend for them to not understand (ie with fantasy languages), go for it.
First fandom you wrote for? Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I think?
Favourite fic you've ever written? My actual favorite fic is one I haven't shared yet, but of the ones I've posted... The Soft Green Glow of Affection

For WIP, I'm curious about One True Self Prevails!
YES, FINALLY! :D Thanks for sending an ask. Anyway, One True Self Prevails is a crossover between Detective Conan and the Persona video games. The basic premise of the fic is that Shinichi and the other characters in Detective Conan/Magic Kaito are now the characters in a Persona Game, and what they do in those roles. I actually published around 10 chapters of this WIP to Ao3 before I realized how horrible out of character I was making Shinichi and some of the other characters (For context, that was my first published fic in the fandom, predating The Field Trip of DOOOMMMM!!!), so I abandoned that fic and began a rewrite.
However, due to me working on several Exchange Projects, the DCMK Fanfiction Server Zine, Field Trip of DOOOMMMM!!!, my inability to focus on anything, and, more recently, Blue Blur and the Silver Bullet, I have only rewritten like a chunk of the prologue. Oh, and here's the snippet: (Below the cut)
Blue. That was the first thing that came into his vision. A rich blue not unlike the color of his eyes. The room he was in was filled with blue. Wait a minute, who was he, questioning why he was in a room filled with blue?
Oh right, He was Shinichi Kudo. Famous high school detective from Teitan High and son of famous mystery writer Yusaku Kudo and famous former actress Yukiko Kudo. Loved by millions and one of the biggest fans of famous literary detective Sherlock Holmes, his main source of inspiration for his detective work.
And this room wasn’t his. He remembered falling asleep on his big queen-sized bed in his parents’ huge mansion, not in some weird dark blue room.
Shinichi looked around the room, slowly slipping out of the hypnopompic state as the cogs in his brain finally kicked into overdrive.
He was laying on a couch, one covered in a velvet blue material that was soft to the touch. The couch was rimmed with lacquered wood, and was long enough to house his body completely on the cushions, which was currently in the fetal position. Right in front of him was a table made with the same lacquered wood as what rimmed the couch, which supported a tea set made of European-decorated porcelain. On the other side of the table was a couch identical to the one he was currently laying on, with even the same shade of blue velvet cloth covering the cushions. Sadly, he couldn’t see any more of the room due to him lying on the couch, so he decided to push himself up off the couch. However, he couldn’t move his body off the couch for some reason, like he was compelled to sit and to only sit. What was going on here-
“Ahhhhhh, welcome to the Velvet Room.”
Shinichi’s eyes snapped open as he heard a voice echo through the room, infecting his mind with its qualities. It was like a mixture of hearing a kind old man and a mysterious eldritch being talking to him, greeting him in this domain. Whatever the hell it belonged to, it gave Shinichi the shivers.
However, that didn’t stop Shinichi from slowly turning his head to the left, only to find a peculiar sight once he killed the cat with his curiosity. It was an old man with a long nose and balding head, sitting behind a desk only illuminated by a single desktop lamp. Its orange glow cast a sinister look on the man and his companion standing behind him, a tall woman with long hair and a blue suit.

Thanks for the tag @simplifiedemotions
How many works do you have on AO3?
47
What’s your total AO3 word count?
994094. I feel like I've been edging a million words for like a year, and then writing nothing but minifics and one-shots.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Just two three. Harry Potter. Star Wars. Edit: And Avatar: The Last Airbender.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Manacled
2. All You Want
3. The Seduction
4. Love and Other Misfortunes.
5. Height
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I don't. When I started posting on ao3 I didn't realize it was a thing, and thought that if I replied that people would think I was doing it to inflate my comment count, and then by the time I realized that it was the polite thing to do, I was in really deep and had overcommitted myself with update schedules. And replying to comments gives me really bad anxiety for some reason, I feel really bad if my replies are repetitive, or like one person gets a longer response than someone else, and so then I start mentally spiralling and stressing about it, so I've just made it a rule that I don't need to reply to comments and prioritize chapter updates as a way of making it up to my readers. But I do read them all.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably Manacled, that's the one that has hurt the most people I'd say.
Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't. I find worldbuilding in one universe gives me enough stress without adding on a second one.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. Quite a bit of during the last year in particular. I have resigned myself that it's the inevitable consequence of having stories recommended outside of their intended audience, they start finding their way to people who are going to hate them. And I've never prioritized widespread appeal or catered to a particular readership, so it's not surprising, but still it does get to be a bit much somedays when it feels like I can't go anywhere without running into it. But I'm coming to terms with it... and I just stay off social media and keep my social circles small on the days when I don't feel like I can.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have been known to. I don't even know what kind I write. I've done all sorts at this point. I've found that I don't tend to like writing particularly explicit sex in longer fics because I feel like it tends to distract from the focus of the story, but I enjoy writing smutty one-shots and shorter fics where I can give my kinks a full workout.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes... a couple times now. But so far its been something that's been pretty easily resolved.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes. I've been meaning to make a spreadsheet for translations because I've been trying to get more organised about fandom stuff.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Dramione is what I always come back to in the end.
Whats a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Too many, tbh. I have so many projects that I've started and now they're languishing in my files and I just haven't found them compelling enough to finish or had the motivation to rework into something better.
What are your writing strengths?
I honestly don't know. I think my use of language is fairly vivid, visually/physically/emotionally. That's probably my main strength.
What are your writing weaknesses?
My sentences lean towards being too short and choppy all the time. I can't write first person that I don't despise. I get overwhelmed by large casts. And I can get too easily caught up in overanalyzing my plots and picking them apart and thereby never finishing them.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I enjoy it when there's a plot point to it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter.
What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Ugh. Hard to say. I have a lot of fond feelings for Manacled since I am pretty proud of it and I kind of... grew up as a writer in the process of writing it. But that also makes it a kind of painful fic to reread because it's hard for me to see the story people love because I just see all the technical issues and things I could have done better.
A lot of my other fics are based at younger ages like Eighth Year (now I'm currently writing a 6th Year fic) where the framework and perspective of the characters is narrowed by their age, and so even though I like them and really enjoyed writing them, they have less of a sense of resonance for me personally. I have a really complicated fic that I've been developing for over a year now that has probably my most interesting Draco and a very complicated Hermione, and if I can swing it, it'll probably be my favourite because it kind of hits a lot of my sweet spots story-wise. But god knows when I'll get around to publishing it.
