Ruined Safety

Gods, you know a whump trope I'd love to see?

Whumpee joining a group or making friends after they’ve escaped or started healing from their trauma with whumper on their own.

Their friends have only ever known them as this happy-go-lucky, sarcastic jokester. Someone who always has a ridiculous quip or joke ready to break the tension. Whose someone people can rely on and open up with to talk about their issues without judgement. Except when they think on it, they don’t really know Whumpee that well. They know they’re nice, and that they can be a joker, but they don’t know anything about their past. Whumpee refuses to talk about it, deflecting with quips and sarcasm and jokes until the topic changes without anyone realizing the questions were never answered.

Whumpee has rebuilt themself from their trauma, they’ve already took the broken pieces of themself that were left after they escaped Whumper and put themself back together as someone new. It’s been years since they were with Whumper and they have no desire to even think about that part of their life again.

...until Whumper shows back up without warning to rip the safety and the life they’ve built for themself out from under them. Reminding them that Whumpee is still just their pet, their plaything in front of everybody they’ve come to care about and and shattering the fragile sense of safety they’d finally come to have. :)

It's even better if Whumpee was actually starting to get close to someone in the group more intimately, finally starting to feel safe enough to maybe let their walls down and be honest with them, just to have the agency of sharing their past and everything that happened to them ripped away by Whumper in one fell swoop as they're dragged away kicking and screaming in chains :) :) :)

thinking about beloved trope "take me instead"

That is such a classic and for good reason. It never gets old. It never gets boring. It never fails to give me whumperflies. And it needs to be used MORE. It's so good. Tv shows please use it more often okay!

There's so many fun ways to use this trope too. Like hostage situations is the first thing you think of right? Two characters, bad guys is gonna take one as a hostage, A stands in front of B and says "take me instead." Classic.

But there's also after the whumping. A pleading to a higher power to "take me instead". "Don't take them, take me. Let them live." Like when Danny was shot in Hawaii Five-0 finale and Steve was in the hospital chapel telling God that if he wanted to take someone then you take him. Not Danny. Me. SO good.

What about an instance where A sacrifices themselves in order to save B? Like Buffy sacrificing herself to save all of her friends in season 5 finale.

Or what about B is already gone and A pleads to swap places with them! Like Clint Barton in Avengers Infinity War when Nat sacrifices herself.

So many good ways to use this trope.

Ah, it's hard to pick a favorite! Here are a few that I really enjoyed:

Gallery AU (Keith and Shiro from VLD fanfic) by @trytofocus - Keith is a prisoner in a secret, highly prestigious gallery where subjects are displayed in all manners of artful bondage for the entertainment of rich patrons. Shiro is one such patron. And he isn't nice. (Be warned that this fic is 18+, as it contains adult elements and themes, and is NSFW) Why I love it: God, the mental images are SO GOOD. The way that Keith is treated as a living, breathing, unwilling art piece... the emotions, the way things are described, the care and reverence taken in tying him up and putting him on display, the way that Shiro appreciates him, the attitude that Keith gives... It's so freaking good, and it gives me crazy whumperflies. I wish there was more!

Death Valley (also on AO3) by @ashintheairlikesnow - In 2003, Finn Schneider left Germany for a month-long planned trip around the United States. Somewhere around Death Valley, he disappeared. But he wasn't alone. (Be warned that this fic is 18+, as it contains noncon, murder, and is NSFW) Why I love it: This was the second whump fic that I ever read, and it was integral in getting me into the whumpsphere! I feel SO SO SO bad for Finn, what he goes through, and how he is in his future. It's one of those stories that makes me go "OH NO BB LET ME FIX IT FOR YOU ;A;" but this poor guy has seen and been through far too much. It's brutal. Even the flash forward has me on the edge of my seat and only wanting the best for him. I hope this poor man finds love, joy, and peace.

Brother's Keeper by @darkthingshappen - Ben Adkins' life changes forever when his brother Jake fails to pay what is owed to some powerful men. Will he be able to survive his harrowing experience and return to his family? (Be warned that this fic is 18+, as it contains explicit noncon and is NSFW) Why I love it: Phew, this one is intense! It's one of those fics that made me go "OH DAMN." a lot. I actually had to read this one out of order a bit because (spoilers) thereʻs a recovery arc... followed by a recapture arc. I had to save some of the recovery arc to read when things got too tough and I needed some joy for the characters, because GEEZ. Poor Ben!! Poor Jake! Poor Andrei! Volkov and his guys are sick SOBs and just merciless. Itʻs so whumpy. I had to skip a chapter or two due to some of my own personal squicks, but other than that, if youʻre looking for some guys having a super bad time, this is a great fic for that!

King of The Road by @darkthingshappen - George and Danny find themselves in the hands of a very sick and twisted trucker. What will happen to them as his newest victims? (Be warned that this is fic 18+, as it contains explicit noncon and is NSFW) Why I love it: The trucker is horrible!! An absolutely evil vile terrible sick guy!!! I have to know what happens to George and Danny! Thereʻs not much of the fic yet, but Iʻm frothing at the mouth waiting for more. The brutality is so whumperiffic, and I already desperately want to save them, so you know things are on a good track!

Secrecy by @doomeddestination - A young spy is captured by a mysterious man known only as Shepard. (Be warned that this fic is 18+, as it contains explicit noncon and is NSFW) Why I love it: Calico is such a great writer, and her dedication to her stories and characters is INSANE. This story was the first one of hers that I read, and it introduced me to Ander, who is another character that I simply wish to wrap in a blanket and give tea to and take care of forever. This poor guy just needs a break. Shepard is awful, and the suspense in the story is so great. Thereʻs a whole multitude of AUs and stories that contain these characters as well, so lots of stuff to check out! ... ... ... If Ander never gets to canonically see his mom again, I will riot in the streets. LET A GOOD THING HAPPEN TO HIM.

The Mountain Man by @darkthingshappen - A kidnapper has his sights on a hockey player and sets a plan into motion to get him into his clutches. Why I love it: Getting into the head of the whumper as he stalked and planed his capture was so cool. I loved the confusion and delirium that the hockey player showed, especially when things started to get scary. I think this story was meant to be a one-shot, but Iʻd gladly dig into more of it if it got continued!

Hazel's story by @starrywhump - A group of college students is kidnapped by a sadistic whumper who has no qualms about torturing them. Why I love it: This was the FIRST whump fic I ever found and read! I wouldnʻt be in the community now if not for this fic. I have no idea how I stumbled across it, but Iʻm so glad I did, because it introduced me to whump lingo, whump blogs, and this whole crazy world. I love the characters, the whumper is creepy and intimate, and some of what she does is just nasty and brutal. I donʻt know what happened to the author (the blog hasnʻt been updated in like three years), but I hope that theyʻre happy and doing well wherever they are. I love the fic, and would love to read more if they ever decided to continue!

There are so so so many other great fics out there, but these are just the few that come to mind off the top of my head! Any other fans of these stories out there? :O

1. Between Zoom and Eobard Thawne, who do you think gives Barry the best whump? Or is there another villain who you think does it better?

1. Ooo great question!

I’m ngl I went through like five different versions of trying to methodically figure out who provided the ‘best’ whump, but all of them were inconclusive. So I’ll just say:

When it comes to emotional whump, Eobard can’t be beaten. OG Nora’s death underlies pretty much all of the Thawne-caused whump and good gods does that give us some great scenes. Barry’s confrontation with him in the pipeline at the beginning of the S1 finale, the video message in his will from 2x01, the OTHER confrontation in the pipeline in 2x11, pretty much every scene with them in 3x01, yet another confrontation separated by glass at the end of 5x18, and there is more but those are the most notable to me.

Eobard provides some ~decent~ physical whump but not much that’s particularly memorable for me, ya know? I like those scenes, most notably the fights in 1x09 and 1x23— oh good gods, I almost forgot 2x17. (I’d consider the time vault scene {you know the one} to be physical whump considering he has Barry restrained and threatens to / is about to kill him. But really, the whump in that scene is a whole nother category. Psychological, almost. On both sides.). But yea, with the exception of 2x17, I like the physical whump from Eo, but I don’t love it.

Onto Zoom! Which means we’re saying hello to my worst friend; bias! (Look, I really tried to keep it out but good gods I just love the Zoom-caused whump I’m sorry).

I’m starting with each whumper’s strength so for Zoom it is, of course, physical whump. Man, do I even have to say anything about this one? Prob not but I’m gonna anyways because I want to. The ‘fight’ at the end of 2x06… Best physical whump in the show. No contest, nothing ever came close. He captures Barry at the end of 2x13, tortures him {if only for around 18 seconds iirc but it counts}, and keeps him captured for nearly the entire episode. …ok fine 2x06 carries Zoom in this category but that episode rewired my brain so whoopdeedoo bias.

While Zoom wasn’t present for it, the aftermath of his attack in 2x07 was very good emotional whump (even if there should have been more because that trauma does not just go away with one pep talk, CW :|). The scene where he threatens Barry after capturing him at the end of 2x13 will always give me whumperflies, as well as similar scenes in 2x14. Barry’s visible distress in those scenes is just so nice :) . And ofc, he kills Barry’s dad in front of him and in the same place Eobard killed his mom; delicious whump. And jfc, he just kept kidnapping Barry’s loved ones. I know that affects more than just Barry but it’s gotta count for something.

Before I finish; quick shoutout to Ramsey/Bloodwork for the best emotional whump in this entire show. It was, in part, Barry’s own mind helping him know what to do but he still caused SEVERE mental distress that was and is truly painful to watch (in a good way ofc).

Conclusion: Zoom’s my personal favorite, straight up. But closer to objectively speaking, I think Thawne’s the best mainly because of his lingering presence throughout the show. Also, he really does have some excellent scenes, and the advantage of far more seasons of screentime compared to Zoom. More than anything, Barry said it himself; “I could throw him three centuries from now. He’ll always be a part of me.” You can’t beat that.

2. Yes. A Lot. But I’m not qualified to rewrite the entire show so I’ll cover some things off the top of my head.

Season 1: Remove the cheating in 1x15, as well as Joe refusing to give Eddie his blessing to marry Iris. Oh, and have Iris know that Barry’s The Flash way sooner because that was sexist bs.

Season 2: No Snowjay. Nope. It’s gone. Caitlin is left to grieve her husband in peace. Speaking of, her and Iris can support each other through that process and get closer through it (because we NEEDED focus on female friendships/relationships ffs). <- Double speaking of, Linda doesn’t leave and her friendship with Iris is focused on more (maybe some early hints at Walinda like the comics?). Since Snowjay is gone hallefuckinlujah that leaves room for ‘Jay’ to actually mentor Barry and for them to get closer so the betrayal hurts more (and for poor Barry to think he finally has a mentor that actually cares about him and isn’t evil…). Actual focus on the TRAUMA that everyone has suffered. Barry’s post traumatic symptoms after 2x06 being addressed. Harry triggering Cisco with the RF suit being treated seriously and not as a joke. Pretty much everyone’s dealing with shit from the singularity. JESSE’S TRAUMA. FROM EVERYTHING. An absolutely necessary and relevant creative decision— have Barry look a little more battered and bruised by the time rescue comes in 2x14 :) . My braincells are slipping. Change Zoom’s plan in 2x23. He doesn’t want to destroy the multiverse; he wants to conquer it (he literally said that. Idk why they changed it.). The race can stay, maybe change it so powering up the macguffin will create a stable wormhole that can take you to anywhere in the multiverse or smth. Just no multiversal destruction. Also, Wally and Jesse are not coming to that race. Double also; no putting Barry in the pipeline in the finale. Overall, this season’s gonna be focused on platonic relationships and (dealing with) trauma. My two favorite things.

Season 3: *sighs* Well I’m changing most stuff about Savitar’s storyline. For one, it just doesn’t make sense, and it also solves the problem of Iris’ main storyline being about her being saved from fridging. Scrap the cult stuff. Don’t kill Dante; let Cisco and him rekindle their relationship, come on now. What would I do with Savitar instead? Not sure. But it wouldn’t be whatever the real writers came up with I’ll tell you that much.

Season 4: *sighs again* If we’re doing the damn therapy, we’re doing it RIGHT. Can I get rid of Devoe? I hate him so much. For now I’ll leave him but make him 70% less annoying. No split personality for Caitlin. Cecile loses her powers after having Jenna. Iris and Barry either have an uninterrupted wedding ceremony, or an Olicity-free actual wedding {meaning Olicity doesn’t interrupt like they did in canon}. Either is good. Amunet is not treated as silly and/or sympathetic {backstory’s fine on its own but the way the show treated her gave me the ick}. She’s literally a human trafficker could we NOT.

Season 5: *heavy sigh* Cicada does not get a half-assed redemption. I remember literally nothing about this season. Oh, let Nora kiss a woman (in full view of the camera. No blurring or angle tricks.). I don’t know when or how but this is required. Oh, but since I hadn’t mentioned it yet, everyone on Team Flash is canonically queer, and this is mentioned if not straight up utilized.

Season 6: *double heavy sigh* Must. Fix. Crisis. I don’t know how but I need to do it. Again, I hardly remember anything it’s been a long time.

Season 7: *high pitched scream* Mark Blaine can exist. But he is forbidden from removing his shirt even once. Also he’s a side villain and doesn’t get enough screentime for a redemption. All MCs affected by the Mirrorverse have their trauma addressed. Gotta fix everything with the Forces and Godspeed. I don’t even know where to start I’m sorry. CISCO DOESN’T LEAVE.

Season 8: *cries* No Iris time sickness. That was stupid, went nowhere, and a shitty way to keep Iris out of episodes :| . Whatever happened with Thawne at the end and his ugly ass suit? Yeah bye. Again, I don’t know how to fix everything but I know what to get rid of.

Season 9: *screams and cries and sighs and dies* goodbye Red Death. There’s not enough damn episodes for a two big bad season. I’ve talked about this before: have all of the villains be brought back and team up near or at the beginning of the season. And yes, mlp style, we get a villain focused episode. Additionally, the villains have an actual plan and not just ‘run off and try to kill whomever’. Also, the negative speedforce brought them back; not Eddie. Eddie’s alive again but he’d much rather be with Barry and Iris than join up with the Legion of Assholes. Yes, Westhallen is endgame and canon. And when the villains are defeated, it is by either Barry alone or accompanied by his family (found and not) of other SPEEDSTERS. And jfc they won’t go down after one hit like whatever canon did.

There’s definitely more but like I said; this was just off the top of my head.

Ok ok ok. So. Soulmates feel each others pain, Vigcup, Viggo ten years older than Hiccup, Hiccup FtM, but doesn't get his first menstrual cycle till he's 15. You start feeling your soulmates pain after you've both turned 5. Viggo think, for ten years, he doesn't have a soulmate. But realizes once he's 15, he actually does have one. They are just younger than him. So, he's 25 when he suddenly feels horrible cramps. Hiccups first menstrual cycle is horrible. Hiccup puts it down to the fact that he didnt get it when he was 11-12. But later realizes he just get really bad cycles. So, Viggo sets his mind to his soulmate being female. And, during the first menstrual cycle, Hiccup has the fight with the red death. So while Hiccup didn't feel it when it happened, Viggo did. He suffered through the pain on cramps as well as the feeling of his foot burning and being ripped off. He was used to feeling pain that wasn't his. Hiccup was a very clumsy kid. But this was beyond anything he had felt before. And when he finally meet Hiccup, he realizes that his soulmate was born female. But would rather be male. And even though Hiccup is now 18 when they meet, he's still as clumsy as ever. He only realizes Hiccup is his soulmate when he gets hit by Ryker in front of him. Feeling the sting on his cheek as well. And just to be sure, he tells Ryker to do it again. Hiccup hasn't put it together yet. Not until Viggo falls into the volcano does he realize.

I wanna write this so bad now. Oh my god.

OH MY GOD. YES. Viggo telling Ryker to hit Hiccup to see if he himself feels it is kind of funny, but very in character. This whole concept is giving me whumperflies!

Good god, the volcano. Oh, Hiccup would be in so much fucking pain. It would be amazing.

I like these kinds of soulmate AUs because the whump potential is just too good.

Who Is Sorrow?

Hey! I'm the gracious host of this blog and I do hope that you've found some enjoyment out of anything I've created or shared. As always, I promise I don't bite very hard if you decide to ask anything :)

Background

I am 20 years old, pronouns She/Her, and I've been in the whump community since at least 2018 on tumblr. Although, I've been invested in men being traumatized and tormented for god knows how long. I always felt whumperflies whenever I saw a scene of someone restrained or begging, just being hurt in general. Even as far back as me watching Disney movies when I was younger. I just didn't know what the feeling was at the time. I always thought I was a little weird or maybe disturbed for feeling this way, but then I discovered Tumblr and the word Whump which just summed up everything for me. I still don't talk about Whump in my personal life yet, but I'm hoping that I get the courage to one day.

I'm also currently in college pursing a bachelors degree, which is why I have random periods of absences due to school work. I love to draw, always have. I'm still improving, but I do it for fun and it's one of my ways to give back to the whump community.

If it's a memory or past incident that is important to the character and story, then I understand. If it's the main focus of the story and happens repeatedly with the intention of reminding you that it’s minor SA, then it’s hard to read.

Unresolved misunderstandings

If you leave two characters with a misunderstanding and they never interact again, or when they do it's not the same because of the topic. I get so much anxiety and second hand embarrassment that I cringe myself out of reading the rest of the story.

So i’ve unofficially called the last 12 months/year “the year i watched supernatural” because honesty it’s just a better way to face the last 12 months. Anyway here’s my unrequested thoughts on supernatural. 

It helped heal my religious trauma lol. (also spoilers)

Things i LOVED

The sibling trope/dynamic from the first couple seasons. Whenever they put cosmic importance on siblings i ate that shit up. That’s so fun. 

The vessel sagas. See above but Michael possessing Dean to kill Lucifer who’s possessing Sam??? Fucking love it. That’s so great. Also trying to force (aka torture) sam to accept Lucifer? Fantastic. 

The canonical answer that ‘god likes Sam and Dean so he gives them stupid hero luck”. I love that. That they didn’t get flat tires or sick or whatever while he liked them because he was watching out for their lactose intolerant asses. 

The SCOOBY DOO EPISODE. ENOUGH SAID AMAZING I LOVE 

The yellowed eye man plot. I know it’s like the first one but GOD i love everything about that arc. Sam’s visions?? The episode where the demon transports a bunch of them to test them?? Hell yeah

All the possessions. They were so fun. 

ALL THE EXPERIMENTAL WEIRD EPISODES. Like when they’re just office coworkers?? When they go to our world? That’s so fucking fun.

Things i liked 

Cass teleporting so randomly. 

The idea that humans made ‘gods’ like the old gods because wanted something to worship. Nice i like that take. 

“Squirrel and Moose” as nicknames. 

Demon traps and the little tattoos that keep them from being possessed. Very visual symbols. Also the black eye blink. Iconic.

Bobby 

The bunker (not the men of letters… just the bunker) 

How they used the same motel set and just changed the wallpaper and the room divider. I missed the hotel rooms. 

Garth 

Sam’s health conscious streak 

Nick as lucifer was so fun to watch. I was genuinely a bit sad when lucifer was possessing someone else/died. 

The gate to heaven is in a children’s playground. That’s funny, it feels irreverent, love it. 

Prophets. I like the prophets.

Things i hated/didn’t like 

The steins. Oh my god i had to stop watching. God we understand. We got it. Please don’t spell it out like that it hurt to watch 

The men of letters as legacy. They should have just found the bunker and been like “this is mine now”. The men of letters as a thing? Meh okay fine. 

Rowena never fully grew on me. Her accent sounded so fake the entire time i was half expecting her to drop it one day and be like “oh it was for fun” 

Oz. God, just stick to the bible. 

The needless double casting. Specifically chuck being god. I like chuck as a prophet, i love that they fought god, but chuck being god? Stupid. Annoying. Damaged the plot of the show. Should have just cast another dude to play god. 

The parallel universes. Meh leave it 

The episode in the girls highschool where they made a supernatural play. I had to skip that episode too cringy 

Sam’s beard 

The Campbell family was DUMB. Dumb and made no sense. 

Cass in “the empty”.... Just… what. If felt rushed and wrong and maybe it didn’t even stick?? IDK just weird and bad. 

The mark of cain was tiring. Okay concept but tiring and non too interesting.  

Mary coming back. That was weird.

Okay, lovely Ace, so I have a question. Are there any whump scenes that you would love to have seen be extended? You know when there's whump that is really good and manages to still give you whumperflies despite only being a short scene or brief moment . I sometimes find myself getting whumperflies from a single groan or moment right before the scene cuts off and the rest of the whump is skimmed over! And then I just think of all the possibilities! Goodness the frustrations of a whumper xox

Oh god yes! It happens to me all the time. 9 times out of 10 I wish a whump scene was extended. Let me think of some examples.

So you know in 9-1-1 2x18 when Buck gets crushed by a ladder truck? Yeah I need so much more of that. I'm gald we got the initial rescue but I want the hospital scenes. I want the first time he goes home. I want the recovery!

They skipped so much in the episode of Murdoch Mysteries "Convalescence" when Murdoch falls from a great height and gets hurt. He falls and then bam the show skips to him in bed. I want to see the stuff in the middle!!

Oh my god there's so much missing in Infinity war/Endgame with Tony Stark. He got stabbed and there was all that time he was slowly starving and isolated and damn I want more of that.

GRACELAND!! Oh my god when Mike is going through withdrawal! I want more of that. But like specifically the rest of the withdrawal after they had to put him in the ice bath. They just skipped ahead to him being fine.

Can I have 1000 more scenes of Alec Hardy's heart condition? Every single one of those scenes can we extend them please?

Eliot Spencer's gunshot wounds in Leverage "The Rundown Job" needs to be shown more. They skipped from him getting shot on the train to being treated on the ambulance. I'd like the in between please.

Oh hell when Phileas Fogg got whipped in Around the World in 80 Days and THERE WAS NOTHING BETWEEN HIM BEING FLOGGED AND THEM BOARDING THE SHIP! NOTHING! WHERE WAS THE TREATEMENT!?

And every single semi whumpy scene in any Hallmark movie. They could all do more.

I’ve been asking myself that question for the past year, lol. The list has definitely been growing with the new tropes I’ve discovered. I’m probably going to list them when I remake my Masterlist, but I’ll use this to start figuring out the ones I like.

Kidnapping/ Held Captive:

This is what started me on my whump journey. I’ve always been obsessed with movies and stories that had scenarios that involved this.

Torture (physical and emotional):

Love interrogations with torture, even just unwarranted torture that leaves the Whumpee helpless and groveling. Making threats of torture and hearing them beg. Begging gives me hard whumperflies.

Giant/Tiny:

This one is recent. I’m starting to love the dynamic of a small whumpee being trapped and helpless against a large Whumpee. Like a cat and a mouse situation. Even caretaker having to be delicate with Whumpee.

Pet whump:

This one is new too, but I think it’s more because I like the side of it where Whumpee gets punished and wants to be forgiven by their master so badly. Or even a defiant Whumpee that doesn’t want a master at all but they better listen if they want to live. Im not too big on like the sexual pet side where they need to do intimate favors and that’s the entire dynamic. That’s not to say I don’t like a little nsfw if it’s written well 🤭.

Whumper turned Whumpee:

Omg when I tell you I eat this shit up, I’m not even kidding lmao. Just the satisfaction of knocking whumper off their pedestal and giving them a taste of their own medicine gives me whumperflies every time. Whether it’s a vengeful caretaker, whumpee, or outside party, someone needs to beat this shit out of that guy.

Wrong place wrong time, or right time?:

Not really a standard trope but I like scenarios where maybe whumpee is just doing a simple thing like grocery shopping or taking a walk down the street and whumper shows up and decides, “yeah, that’s mine now”. Just snatches whumpee simply for existing. Even if maybe whumper accidentally got Whumpee instead of their original target or was forced to take them because they witnessed something and now they actually like having them as a plaything.

Being held at weaponpoint:

Having a knife to your throat or a gun to your head. Maybe a freaking lightsaber that can cut your limbs off kind of thing. Anything that is a threat to your life and makes your adrenaline pump.

Immortal/ non-human whump:

Vampires, gods, hybrids, mythical beings. Whatever you can think of in this category. I love them being a whumpee. Having this perception that they’re invincible in their own realms. The strongest, baddest beings alive and yet a “lower being” has captured them and is breaking then down to nothing.

Multiple Whumpers:

I only sometimes like this. I have a problem with becoming biased towards one of the whumpers so when another one comes over, I’m like, yah no that’s not right. But if it’s written well and theres a dynamic where one whumper is way more sadistic and horrendous than the other. Then it makes it interesting to see Whumpee picking favorites.

These are definitely not all of them, just the ones that I could think of in my head right now. I think I definitely lean more towards the “hurt” side of whump. I’m only ever really heavy on the comfort if I feel bad. Like, I’m the one who wants to comfort the whumpee, not the caretaker in the story if that makes sense. Which is why I like to draw because then I can make the things that I want to do for characters come to life.

So i’ve been tempted to remake my intro post because, ngl kinda hate my first one pf.

Hello! You can call me Ghost, Para or Pollux, and ill probably sign off with either of those names (for the funsies), you can use they/he + any neos for me, also feel free to do pronoun checks! They change a lot :]

My favorite whump tropes are definitely (also warning for whump typical violence ! :])

Captivity (literally my favorite thing, being trapped with a monster with no way to escape? whumperflies,,)

Defiant whumpees who are broken by the end of it (and this can go in two ways!!! Whumpee being shattered, feeling worthless, like they have no place in the world, they flinch and tense, they cry into their pillow at night. They lean into caretakers touch, the first kind touch they’ve felt in years, maybe. 

But on the other hand, whumpees that are Broken, like shards of glass. They never lost their spark nor their defiance, they killed whumper in cold blood and pushed away any horror or regret they felt to it. They escaped into the night with nothing, they fed on garabge and did odd jobs, theyre drunk constantly, they do anything to distract themself. They snap at anyone who looks at them with an ounce of pity, they wipe the blood pouring from their nose and grin with bloodied teeth, “is that all you’ve got?” they taunt, because they’ve been through it all before, they push away the pain because pain is life, and they will not stop, they will not give in)

Sadistic and intimidate whumpers (they make me BLUSH!! God,, the mix of sweet pet names to kicking whumpee in the ribs, or trailing a finger down whumpees cheeks before grabbing whumpees hair and dragging them around)

Following the topic above, manhandling (YES FLING WHUMPEE AROUND, GRAB THEIR HAIR AND SLAM THE BACK OF THEIR HEAD INTO A WALL TIL THEY BLEED)

Restraints (they make my heart FLUTTER fr,,, literal whumperflies)

Failed rescue/escape or being caught in the process of being rescued/escaping (especially when the whumper is only amused by their actions, like?? The amount of people that they Know they have, they dont have to drag whumpee around, they dont have to yell or shout, because whumpee is already wrapped around their finger. The amount of power in whumper sneaking up on whumpee, not even angry, just pleasantly amused, because its a game for whumper!! I will Never be over it)

Hiding injuries (ESPECIALLY WITH WITH DEFIANT WHUMPEES,,, whether they hide their injuries from whumper or caretaker,, hmmmmnnnnpos)

Branding (,,, oh dont make me blush,,, its just?? Theres something about it AND collars that make me sooo,,,,,, mmmmmnn)

Pet whump (im iffy on pet whump sometimes, can make be a bit uncomfy. The dehumanization both makes me lean away and lean in, theres also something about the possessiveness that makes me sfhausdosdsa. Its good usually, and when it isnt i just click away :])

Not exactly new to the whump community, i just thought it’d be cool to make a more up to date intro post!
