I might have said this before but the nature of the iterator’s very existence is honestly horrifying. They do not die easily, and that is an understatement. yep so everyone who voted for cu chulainn in the previous poll (which was surprisingly a majority of you) got it right!

for those who don't know, cu chulainn is a character from the ror spinoff: apocalypse of the gods, and he is a demigod. like, an actual 50% human and 50% god.

yeah so that means there are now 2 types of demigods in the ror verse: a human with the strength of a god (gained via drinking ambrosa aka, zeus' blood; ex: heracles before ascension) and now the actual half-blood that we're familiar with

BECAUSE I ALREADY STATED IN ARSENIC BLUES THAT BIOLOGICAL HALF-GOD AND HALF-HUMANS DON'T EXIST AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO CREATE, CU CHULAINN WILL BE LIKE PRE-ASCENSION HERACLES: a human with the strength of a god BUT he got this through drinking lugh's blood and was also blessed by him (hence why he will have some of lugh's powers too)

so..... why cu chulainn? well, he actually has a lot of similarities with percy:

both are mortal children of a god. percy being the biological daughter of poseidon and cu chulainn being the adopted son of lugh (for my fic at least)

both have doggies 🥺🥺🥺

both are heroes/warriors. 'hero' more for percy, and 'warrior' more for cu chulainn (i'll explain this later)

both started young. cu chulainn actually started at age fucking seven 💀 and twelve years old for percy

both have ungodly amounts of rizz. percy's getting bitches left and right in BOTH pjo universe and ror universe, and cu chulainn's a fucking whore. no fr, in a lot of his lore, men hated his ass cuz they feared he may "steal their wives and ruin their daughters". he was balls deep in everyone 💀

both have hilarious beef with war gods 😭 ares for percy and morrigan for cu chulainn (fun fact: morrigan actually tried to rizz him once but he rejected her and she's hated his ass since 💀)

both have A LOT of enemies 💀 percy's pissed off like half the greek pantheon in the pjo verse and is on every monster's hit list and cu chulainn literally got killed because the sons of the people he killed wanted to get his ass for revenge 💀

both are really really good at killing their enemies 😂 percy's kill mostly consists of monsters tho and maybe some enemy demigods whereas cu chulainn pretty much killed hundreds of people in táin bó cúailnge in less than five minutes cuz he went into goblin mode 💀💀💀 (and then he went on to terrorize the entirety of ireland)

HOWEVER!!!!! there are also some MAJOR differences between them that i can't wait to explore.

cu chulainn was born into royalty. his mother was a princess and the sister of the king. then there's broke ass percy 😭

cu chulainn is an arrogant asshole in the myths and in the manga and percy's an actual sweetie pie who was raised well by her mom 🥺

cu chulainn's basically the heracles of ireland, and by that, i mean he was a huge fucking piece of shit 💀💀💀 yeah, he's basically as much of a jerk as pjo!heracles 💀

you know how in greek myths, there's tons of heroes that we learn about (theseus, odysseus, hercules, etc), but then you read the non-sugar coated version of their stories and realize "omg these are horrible ppl"???? yeah that's the same with cu chulainn 💀 back in ancient times, they pretty much called anyone who can kick ass a "hero", which is very different from our modern definition where we think of good people who go around saving lives. cu chulainn was more of a warrior than a hero tbh 💀

also, the dude was a rapist too (so he's already fitting in well with the yanderes yaaaaay 🤗)

i'm gonna have so much fun writing about him and percy lmaooo they share so many similarities, but at the same time are so wildly different

anyway, cu chulainn will show up in ACT TWO, not in act one!!!

1. Adamai works in retail do not ask why he just does.

2. He has clip on ear rings he got his ears pierced once and he regretted it because of the pain

3. He doesn’t like to express himself very much mostly keeping to himself and not talking about his problems.

4. He likes to read and I mean he LOVES reading, if you’re lucky you can catch him on break reading a comic book.

5. He knows how to skateboard (yugo does not and he laughs at this)

6. He mostly stays in his room only coming out for food or unless he wants to be outside for a bit. Other than that he doesn’t really leave his room.

7. He’s very smart about specific dragon cultures, every so often you can catch him in the library reading about dragon myths and possibly ancient food recipes.

8. Surprising he’s very quiet, sure at a young age he was bubbling with joy but now he’s more quiet and sometimes shy.

9. He doesn’t really like big gatherings it was never his thing. If he didn’t know anybody there then he would sit in a corner and mind his own business. (This man has horrible social anxiety)

10. His taste in fashion is decent most of the time he just wears baggy jeans and a shirt, he isn’t much for looking nice.

11. I like to see him as this huge nerd, for example if you ask him about a specific event involving ancient dragonic history. He will talk for hours explaining every detail and every bit of lore (look at my nerdy boy)

15. He’s a heavy daydreamer, often times you can see him standing in the middle of nowhere dozing off we don’t know how he does this or how he gets himself in these situations but god is it funny.

16. He gets embarrassed easily when told he did a good job on something, Adamai rarely if ever gets compliments so telling him he’s the best guy in the world it makes him hide his face due to how red it gets.

17. He gets scared easily but not like “omg everything scares him!” More like if you come up behind him without him hearing you he will scream like a banshee.

18. He can run and I don’t mean “oh he’s just fast” HE’S PRETTY FUCKING FAST, if this man so much as sees a big ass spider he’s fuckin GONE

19. I like to believe Adamai has a huge sweet tooth. He loves to eat sweets whenever he gets the opportunity

CAN YOU GUESS WHICH TWO I DESPISE? no. fr. the last two (the boob two) are far too dependent on helen being vain. and helen .... almost not feeling any guilt or shame from what's happened. and we know that's not true from the iliad. these two, to me, are classic. but i don't think menelaus EVER planned to kill her. i can accept euripudes' version cause i think there would have been a lot of greek men that would have wanted to see helen dead. it makes sense yknow? they dont see the full narrative. the big picture. as far as they're concerned helen ran away. loads of people died. and now she's gonna get away with it. they're not narrative aware enough to see all the cogs of fate and the gods and all this. so i can respect that some greeks would have wanted her to suffer and menelaus would have risked a fuckin riot if he outright said 'nah lads she's fine lets crack on' so the whole 'wait til we get home' narrative is a good way for him to save time. to buy him and helen some time to come up with a plan, a story. to hear each other out. to work through stuff. they don't get back to sparta for like. 10 more years. they can EASILY have come up with some reason why she's not been killed yet. or why he's not gonna go through with it/why it's all worked out.

in regards to menelaus never wanting to kill her, i believe that because of how menelaus behaves in the iliad. menelaus is constantly lamenting the deaths of the greeks. the needless death and suffering. how these men are working and sacrificing to get helen back. to bring her HOME. what would killing her do? another senseless death. all the sacrifice for naught because menelaus doesnt get his wife back. he goes back to sparta alone. as if he never even went to fucking troy and tried to get her back?????

and also because menelaus loves her. despite everything he loves her and he never stopped. it's why i really like his portrayal in IOA even if he is a giant ass clown. he's a man desperate to get his wife back. and he's under the impression they're just gonna go to troy and get her back. simple as. two months tops. he's frantic and desperate and willing to try anything to get her back (yo bro kill ur daughter for me kthx). and i don't think that desire to get her back changes. menelaus grows more subdued and quiet. and has less fire. but he's still trying. he goes toe to toe with paris, is willing to take on hektor. menelaus is very much: 'i am dying at troy or i am leaving with my wife' and how is that not love? it's literally. he is going to get her back or die trying.

(also idk how much people value to fall of troy texts that are around but like. menelaus kills deiphobus in those. when dei is with helen. the man is insane in those moments he could easily have took helen out too in his madness. but he doesn't. also also. when he's in the horse and he hears helen, he's said to 'groan' when he remembers her and given the context of the other men weeping and stuff. this is like. a groan of pain. hearing helen's voice after so long and remembering her. HURTS him. he's missed her so much.)

menelaus and helen loved each other. you see it in odyssey 4. the healing they must have gone through in those 10 years. is so admirable and powerful. and they did it because they wanted to. because they were gonna see this out. they were gonna make this work. and even zeus acknowledges it. because he lets menelaus into elysium just to be with helen (his own DAUGHTER) for eternity. even though menelaus has LITERALLY no elysium qualities. not even zeus cant bear to separate these two.

they're just so fucking powerful.

i finished catching up to this like 2 minutes ago [EDIT: WROTE THAT THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAYM NOW ITS 2 DAYS AGO] and i genuinely really liked this. for a manhua its amazing!! the plot is unique and keeps you guessing, the characters are entertaining and NOT cookie cutter cutouts of isekai tropes, theres been some interesting reveals and a lot of people in the comments were hating on ml but personally i found him super fun; hes very morally grey n has definite flaws but thats what makes him a good character to read about !! not to mention the main character herself is great. i hate that my bar for good manhwa/hwa characters has gone down to 'has more than 2 personality traits' but she is leaping over it for sure

Back with another update. I hate that this book is so good and yet nothing goes on. And I hate that it's so addictive cause I have a test coming up on Mondey and I can't stop reading. I have to know what happens next!!!!

LOVE how much The Emperor is invested in Ianthe and Harrow. Partially because he needs them, partially because he cares. I love how he's kind, but I also know there's more to him than just what meets the eye. He's doing all of this because he has no choice. And I think he's not as powerful as everyone thinks he is. But he wants to keep that status. At least as an illusion. To bring others, all of his followers, at least some comfort and security.

Stranger things season 4 rant:

In season 2 when El finds 008, 008 explains to El that one day she went into the rainbow room and El wasn’t there so when her powers got strong enough she escaped but in season 4 008 isn’t in El’s memories except for the one in the rainbow room when her mom tries to get her back, when Henry was mentioning this moment he said something about it being before 008 escaped. This inconsistency actually irritates me so much, it was on my mind constantly when I was rewatching season 4.

Another inconsistency is when they fr forgot Wills birthday, it was mentioned in season 2 that it is on March 22nd but in season 4 the camera of the guy who was recording El getting bullied said March 22nd and Wills birthday was never mentioned, It wasn’t like they made it apart of the plot, they didn’t make the characters forget his birthday, the duffer brothers actually forgot.

Eddie’s death was so pointless and predictable. There was absolutely no reason that he had to die, if he doesn’t come back in season 5 I’m going to go feral. It was obvious they were gonna kill Eddie off when he was saying shit abt how he’s no hero and how he just runs away like when he kept beating himself up for running away when Chrissy got killed but bitch I would’ve ran away too tf, who isn’t gonna run away when some girl is floating in the air getting her bones broken and her eyeballs taken??

I think they focused too much on Mike and El’s relationship, I really wish they would have given us more moments between El and Will and Jonathan. That one scene where Mike is telling El that he loves her and to fight and that gives her the motivation to get out of the hold of those things and fight Vecna, I hate the fact that they made it so it was Mike that gave her that motivation and not Max who was literally dying right in front of her.

THEY RUSHED THE HOPPER AND EL REUNION, THIS WAS STRAIGHT UP EVIL, I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE DUFFER BROTHERS. They rushed the ending in general, it was bullshit.

I really hated the entire Vecna storyline. It just feels kind of disappointing that he turned out to be the mind flayer, that the mind flayer just turned out to be some guy with powers who was sent to the upside down. IMO It would have been a lot more interesting if the mind flayer was actually some ancient creature from another dimension. I saw a theory that Vecna isn’t the mind flayer he just thinks he is, and that the mind flayer is actually using him, I hope this is actually what it is.

instead of adding those tension moments between Steve and Nancy and making it seem like she was developing feelings for him again I wish they would have focused on their friendship, Steve moving on and Nancy seeing how much he has changed and they bond together but not romantically, they just develop a friendship.

I hate season 4 in general, there were some things I liked about it (ONE OF THEM BEING DMITRI BC GOD DAMN HE IS HOT) but it just seems to suck compared to the other seasons.

'You, little child, shall be the prophet of the Most High'.

John’s father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke this prophecy:

‘Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel for he has visited his people, he has come to their rescue and he has raised up for us a power for salvation in the House of his servant David, even as he proclaimed, by the mouth of his holy prophets from ancient times, that he would save us from our enemies and from the hands of all who hate us. Thus he shows mercy to our ancestors, thus he remembers his holy covenant the oath he swore to our father Abraham that he would grant us, free from fear, to be delivered from the hands of our enemies, to serve him in holiness and virtue in his presence, all our days. And you, little child, you shall be called Prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins; this by the tender mercy of our God who from on high will bring the rising Sun to visit us, to give light to those who live in darkness and the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace.’

(i) 24th December

Today’s gospel reading has become one of the great prayers of the Christian community. The prayer of Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, is part of the official morning prayer of the church that is prayed in monasteries, convents, parishes and homes every evening. The prayer opens with a reference to God visiting his people and it closes with a reference to the rising Sun coming to visit us from on high, which is a clear reference to the coming of Jesus into the world. When we hear the word ‘visitation’ we tend to think of Mary’s visit to Elizabeth, but Zechariah’s prayer suggests that the more fundamental visitation was God’s visit to humanity through Jesus.  God has visited his people in and through the person of his Son, Jesus. There is a powerful depiction of this visitation of God through Jesus in that prayer. This visitation reveals the tender mercy of God. Jesus’ coming is spoken of as the rising Sun from on high bringing light to those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death. The sun is the source of light and life. In an even more fundamental sense, Jesus is the source of light and life. In revealing God’s tender mercy, Jesus brings the light of God’s merciful love into the darkness of our lives and he also offers us a sharing in God’s own life, thereby scattering the shadow which death casts over us. The true meaning of Christmas is to be found here. In celebrating the birth of Jesus, we are celebrating the coming of God’s light and life, a light which no darkness can overcome and a life which is stronger than all forms of death. Christmas is the feast of Jesus, the light of life. It is a truly hopeful feast because it proclaims that we need no longer remain in darkness or in the shadow of death.

Zechariah who has had nothing to say since the annunciation of John’s birth because he was struck dumb now breaks out into a great hymn of praise. The beginning and the end of Zechariah’s hymn makes reference to God’s visitation of his people. He begins by declaring that ‘God has visited his people; he has come to their rescue’, and he concludes by proclaiming that ‘the Dawn from on high will visit us, to give light to those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death’. Many of us will be doing some visiting over the next few days. We may we visiting the homes of family members we haven’t visited for some time. We may also be receiving visits from family members and friends. Christmas is a great time of visitation. Perhaps that is because at some deep level we know that we are celebrating the feast of the great Visitation, no so much Mary’s visit to Elizabeth, but God’s visit to his people. God visited us in his Son, like the Dawn from on high, to give light to those who live in darkness. When we visit, we try not to overstay our visit; we leave after a certain period. When God visited us, God stayed. God visited us through Jesus, whose other name was Emmanuel, God-with-us. This evening we will celebrate the feast of God-with-us. Our calling is to be a people who are with God.

On the 21st December, the shortest day of the year, those who are fortunate enough to get places within the megalithic tomb of Newgrange in County Louth in Ireland gather to witness, weather permitting, the rays of the sun penetrating into the inner chamber of this passage tomb. This only happens on the shortest day of the year. This 4,000 year old monument witnesses to the conviction of our ancestors that just as darkness is at its greatest, the light begins to return to our world. Since that day, the nights have been getting imperceptibly shorter and the days imperceptibly longer. The feast of Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, coincides with the emergence of greater light in nature. Today’s gospel reading is the great song of Zechariah, the husband of Elizabeth and the father of John the Baptist. In his hymn he sings of the tender mercy of God who brings the rising Sun to visit us to give light to those who live in darkness and the shadow of death. Zechariah proclaims Jesus to be the rising Sun who visits us with his light, a reflection of the light of God’s mercy. All the lights of Christmas, the Christmas tree lights, the candles that we light, point beyond themselves to the warm and gracious light of that rising Sun whom God is his mercy has sent to visit us and to remain with us until the end of time. Our calling is to welcome the light of the rising Sun into our lives and to walk in that light so that we may witness to his light by the way we live.

Today’s gospel reading is the prayer of Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist. His prayer has become part of the church’s prayer. It is prayed every morning as part of the church’s Morning Prayer. Zechariah prayed his prayer in response to the birth of his son, John the Baptist. He had come to recognize that his son would have a special role in God’s purpose. His son would go before Jesus to prepare the way for him. Jesus is spoken of in his prayer as the rising Sun who comes from on high to visit us, to give light to those who live in darkness and the shadow of death. It is a lovely image for Jesus and one that is very appropriate for this time of year when the sun begins to make a return and the days start to get longer. As we look upon the rising sun we thing of Jesus who has come to visit us form on high and who remains with us until the end of time. Zechariah celebrates this rising sun as the manifestation of the tender mercy of our God. At Christmas we call on Jesus, the rising Sun, to shed the light of God’s loving mercy into the dark areas of our lives. We position ourselves beneath the rays of the light of God’s mercy and love that shines upon us through Jesus, Emmanuel. In gratitude for that rising Sun from on high, like Zechariah, we praise and bless God who has visited all people in this life-giving way.

Today’s gospel reading is the prayer of praise that Zechariah prayed after the birth and naming of his son, John the Baptist. It has come to be known as the Benedictus, the Latin word for the opening word of the prayer, ‘Blessed’. Zechariah’s prayer is prayed every morning by those who pray the Morning Prayer of the Church. It is a prayer that is very suited to this Christmas season because it praises God for visiting his people through the Saviour that he sent, in faithfulness to his past promises. Towards the end of the prayer there is a lovely image for the coming of God’s Saviour among us. The prayer speaks of the rising Sun from on high who visits us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death. There is something about the rising sun which draws us. It heralds the coming of light after the hours of darkness. This is how Zechariah’s prayer imagines the coming of the Lord, whose way would be prepared by John the Baptist. This rising Sun is the revelation, of what the prayer calls ‘the tender mercy of our God’. At this Christmas time, we celebrate the coming of the light of God’s tender mercy through the child of Mary and Joseph. We are all invited to come before this child in our poverty, like the shepherds, aware of the darkness in our own lives and of our own need for this warm and welcoming light of God’s tender mercy that shines through this child and now continues to shine through the risen Lord.

In today’s first reading, King David had in mind to do something worthwhile for God. He was going to build an impressive dwelling place to house the ark of the covenant. However, he came to understand through the prophet Nathan that this was not what God wanted. God had much bigger plans. Nathan declared to David that God would make a house for David, rather than David making a house for God. God would establish David’s house, in the sense of David’s household, David’s lineage. God would see to it that one of David’s descendants would rule forever. God would relate to this descendant as father to son. The early church understood this prophecy to have been fulfilled with the birth of Jesus who was a descendant of David through Joseph. What God intended was so much more than David could have foreseen. Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist made this same discovery. When Gabriel announced to him that his wife Elizabeth would bear him a son who would prepare a way for the Lord, he refused to believe it. He couldn’t come to terms with the magnitude of God’s purpose for his life. However, like David, he eventually surrendered to this greater purpose of God and when his son John was born he sung that wonderful hymn which was today’s gospel reading. It has come to be known as the Benedictus and is now part of the Morning Prayer of the Church. Both readings remind us that God’s purpose for our lives is always much more wonderful than anything we could ask for or imagine and this is good news for all of us.

I wanna sleep so bad but my roommate/friend WILL NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! Like she's not even talking to anyone. She's talking to herself. And this isn't something I'm like judging her for or anything, but this shit is driving me insane. She's been doing it since she woke up. She goes into the bathroom for hours on end and does it. She does it with her headphones on. She does it with them off. She does it when we're in class together.

She's not even saying actual words and she doesn't know she does it. Anytime I point it out she's all like😮 and it stops for maybe 6 seconds and then she's at it again.

AND we have to take all our classes together next semester because she can't handle not being in a class without me. I'm at... My wits end. I need a break from her before I crash out... But I can't get a break because I'm her ride home! 🤗😀 I LOVE THAT FOR ME!

You know the saying "too much of a good thing"? That's what's happening!

And it's not just the talking to herself that's driving me insane. It's the other little noises, the weird ones where she just screams or groans out loud out of nowhere. No, this isn't a tick. The inconsiderate way she plays her show/movie/video at max volume whenever she's watching something. She has two sets of headphone, yet doesn't use either of them. What the hell is going AWNNN?!?!

Another thing that particularly pisses me off is that she keeps moving the bathmat from in front of the shower so there's water all over the floor in the bathroom. Like what the fuck did I buy it for if you're just gonna shove it behind the toilet while you go in there and talk to yourself? I literally bought it. Not her, not my parents. Me. Now if I take it back home and don't bring it back like I did my flannel (which she got mad at me for, because God forbid I don't wanna bring something I OWN back to the dorm for her to wear and never give back), I'll be in the wrong. Right? Cool.

All I wanna do is sleep. She won't let me. I can't leave the room because she's all in my shit whenever I leave (and by shit I mean my business because 9 times out of 10,whenever I leave, she wants to leave too! 🤗😀) I NEED A BREAK! FUCK!

I thought she was finally being quiet. There are Instagram reels playing at like 60 on her phone now. Her light is still on. I can't turn it off because she's going to turn around and say "I'm using that" like she did last time. (She then proceeded to use that thing for 3 more minutes then shut it off)

I need a break. I wanna be alone so badly next semester. I hate to say this because she's my friend and I love her to pieces.... But if she can't come back next semester, I think I'll jump for joy.

anyway, I'm gna post a full thoughts on the fic i was reading last night later BUT if anyone's interested the best usuk fics are 1912 and 1915 by robinrocks. especially 1915 if anyone's interested in how alfred is power hungry + innocent at the same time ("why wouldn't i want power? isn't it natural to want everything in the world?" he asks 100% genuinely) and arthur being a conniving, resentful bitch and it has saturn eating his son themes and it has arthur hating and loving alfred at the same time, jealous and in awe and resentful of how powerful alfred is...... anyway my point is that even though I'm an antonio, lovino, and company gang, usuk has a special place in my heart bc THEYRE FUCKING CRAZY!!!

and antonio and lovino can also be crazy, but i love thinking of them very... old soul/world romance... and when they are crazy (if nationverse) i like to think of it as they are crazy towards other people. oh Until the Moss Had Reached Our Lips, and Covered Up Our Names is a perfect example of this (the real gangster au)

my point is that arthur and alfred are very insane towards each other, it's full of hatred and anger and resentment but also fondness... it's that they both want to see each other burn but also have an immense love and fondness for each other. power hungry freaks LOL

and antonio and lovino are insane in a way that's like... they'd see the world burn if it meant the other was happy. they're possessive and bitchy and controlling but also codependent and happy and domestic. it's more of an external 'i'd see the world burn to make you happy' vs usuk's 'i want to knifeplay you and then make out with you'

usuk is very new world and spamano is very old world, court politics, tensions of back and forth, love of the beaches and forgoing everything in favor of love <333 usuk is insanity lol
