In the middle of the long, starless-dark night, Cregan wanders. The men are exhausted. They dare not venture further into Harrenhal.

"Lord Stark..."

A whisper, sweeter than summer's memory, accosts him.

"Begone," Cregan rumbles out, not looking behind him, approaching the old weirwood tree. He notes the sword slash-marks in pale bark. Bright red tree-sap dribbles down. As angry, bleeding wounds would.

Lurking out of view, an unknown spirit haunts Cregan's footfalls.

"Come lie beside me. Come rest. We denied ourselves once before."

"Do not anger a man beyond his reasoning. I said, begone."

"Lord Stark, I never confessed my truest of longings... I pleasured mineself and thought only of your hands... alas, the fear held tight..."

Cregan sets his jaw, glaring at the weirwood's bleeding bark. "I will not hear it," he proclaims. "I will not... I will not hear these deceptive and ill-mannered words off of a pretender's lips. You wear the face of one I loved. You make mockery when you should heed caution."

Behind him, the air ripples. Cregan sees it. Cregan sees Prince Jacaerys's young and handsome features, grey as lichyard soil.

It is not... Prince Jacaerys rots at the very bottom of the Gullet...

"An oath was made in mine and mine queen's name, ser. Your oath as a Stark. Your life to defend our cause. It is why you march to King's Landing for green blood. Let me remind you of all of our longing..."

In the recesses of Cregan's mind, Prince Jacaerys lives there. Smiling under the snowfall. His cheeks tinged red from Winterfell's bitter bite.

Gritting teeth, Cregan unsheathes Ice. The blade, wide and made of Valyrian spell-forged steel. He turns to swing powerfully, to cut apart the forces of destruction plaguing him. Unexpectedly, all goes quiet.

Cregan listens, breathing hard and open-mouthed. His brow damp.

Not a stirring of air.

Harrenhal, and all of its unnatural breath, remain silent in observation as Cregan returns grimly to the encampment of his Northmen.

The elevator lowered, dinging each floor as they descended, and Marshall Lee could not find it in himself to care.

Gary's fingers wound through his and his lips tingled from the warmth of their kiss. Gary had...he had given up everything he had worked for.

He had given it all up for Marshall Lee.

"I can't believe you did that." Marshall Lee said, pressing his forehead to Gary's.

Gary grinned, pecking Marshall Lee on the cheek as the elevator doors opened to the darkened lobby. "I can."

"But your Pastrymenchsen-"

"Will be even more delicious with you." Gary tugged on his hand, pulling him towards the doors and his van. "It'll work out, Marshall."

20. Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you?

Several at the same time! The way I write is that I can only write when all the stars are aligned. And then I don't decide where the stars decide to point. Or, in other words, I get bored with things very quickly. So, switching projects, changing gears, help me stay focused.

23. Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?

Description! And dialogue is hard because uuuuuh, I'm not personally good at it. Social awkwardness. That's why I prefer writing. And I love to write pages about a landscape, a scene or a character's emotions and thoughts. Dialogues need to be especially tailored to the character, to the situation, to the tone... Balancing all the elements to convey a line of dialogue that will sound authentic is hard.

36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?

I think of what the fic wants to say, what character it is centred on, and I look for quotes, or references to the source material, or song lyrics. I think my favourite might be Golden Light On The Roofs, my post-movie DDLJ (Bollywood movie) fic, because it's not a reference to the movie, not a song lyric or quote, not something about the characters; it's the vibe of the story. And the vibe that movie gives off too, at least for me. And also I just really love this one.

Honestly ricks new book has just inspired me to reread wcwsthwas again.

I'm convinced Rick doesn't remember who his characters are anymore.

ill be the first to admit my characters can also be ooc! i think ive also fallen into the 'annabeth as a mom friend' trap (though piper is usually annabeth's mom in my fic) and i do think i have a lot of work to do keeping my characterizations consistent.

but heres the crux of my problem, right: this isnt my job. im a girl in my twenties who works full time and writes for fun. my ao3 is my hobby, and the characters i write are not canon. thats why it KILLS ME that rick writes with such a loose pen. in this new book, ive seen at least 5 inconsistencies, and thats IGNORING the timeline one (because why are people acting like leo is alive???). he has changed....just core things about characters. like grover the vegetarian eating a bacon sandwich and clovis now being morpehus' son. lack of attention to the little details, imo, just shows a lack of care. and as @glove23 pointed out, it shows that he really doeant respect his readers. he's acting like we're idiots, like we arent going to notice the changes. and, at the risk of aounding like a scooby doo villain, HES GETTING AWAY WITH IT TOO!! twitter laps up everything he does. it infuriates me to a whole other level.

this man is retconning shit left and right, tweaking stories previous to suit whatever new one he's writiig at the moment, and it just comes off as disrespectful and sloppy. fic writers are doing better than him at just about everything at this point. im not even talking about ME. there are heaps of really incredible pjo authors who seem to understand and respect the source material far more than rick seems to these days. and thats a goddamn shame.

ive read snippets of the book - some parts are okay and some are passable but most feel...weird. i dont know if its just me, but even the percabeth felt off. i hate how percy calls himself dumb in, like, every second sentence. when did that become a thing? and WHY? i wouldnt be surprised if this was ghostwritten. tbh, i hope it is. like you said, it feels like rick doesnt know how to write his characters anymore :/ sucks but i feel like i need to add a disclaimer to every fic now: this author has read only the original pjo and hoo books and all characters are written based on the ones of those series.

In the distance, she hears the Mediterranean Sea roaring. Goldfinches perch above towering trees. Her hands visibly quiver.

The maestra, old and wise-eyed and leading Lilia's coven, nods.

"What do you feel about your power...?"

Lilia opens her mouth, hesitating.

Beside her in the underground tunnel, also covered in swamp murk, Jen notices Lilia staring glassily behind her. "What is it?" Jen asks.

"It consumes me."

"Lilia?" Jen takes Lilia's wrinkled and dark mud-smudged hands quivering, absently stroking fingers. "Hey, Lilia... I'm right here."

Blinking, the other witch slowly comes to herself, gasping in.

"I really, really hate this," Lilia mutters, gritting her teeth, but her eyes tear up. Like a child's. Sensing the frustration mounting, Jen offers a hug wordlessly. Her arms cradling. Lilia tightly hugs her back.

- 556,655 (a PALINDROME!!!!!!!! omg i love palindromes what a lovely coincidence)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

- I have fics posted for harry potter, dungeons and daddies, and irondad. my current wips are for hp, irondad, and i have one atla wip that may never see the light of day based on how fast progress on it is (like… 500 words a year? if that? it’s bad)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

- How Like Home Harry Potter, Dimension travel AU, 158,008 words, incomplete

-Phoenixes are Pests Harry Potter, this one has a comic drawn by @minryll! and the entire idea for it came from her too, 1,541 words

- In Plain Sight Harry Potter, severitus AU where snape goes undercover as one of harry’s classmates and gets to know harry, 93,784 words

- Close to the Chest Harry Potter, sequel to In Plain Sight, 37,115 words

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do my absolute best to!!! The main reason I write fanfic is because I love the community around it! But sometimes I have to choose between responding to comments or working on the fic they commented on and I get the feeling that people would prefer that I write the fic rather than respond to their comments XD

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m not much of one for angsty endings, I love angsty beginnings/middles, but I like to end on hope. So that being said, I do have an incredibly angsty ending that I might write for worth living for i might also go the sappy happy ending i originally had in mind. i might do both. who knows.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

since I already answered the previous one with a fic that doesn’t have an actual ending, i’ll avoid saying how like home for this one since that technically does not have an ending. instead, i’ll say This Is Our Salvation a real world-ish drarry AU that’s kinda weird but is the second fic that came to mind and not enough people have read it to be able to contradict me so yeehaw baby

8. Do you get hate on fics?

much less now that I moderate comments on how like home! but yeah I do still sometimes get it, and it’s a bummer

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

not often, but like I love the community around fanfic, and people are weird about commenting on and interacting with explicit fics so it’s just not what I gravitate towards with my extremely limited writing time these days

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

nope!

gonna combine these previous two into one because i once had someone use google translate to translate my fic into spanish and then posted it to wattpad (all without notifying me, as i request in my permissions statement on ao3) and what’s hilarious is spanish is the one language i’d be able to tell that it’s google translated rather than earnestly translated. i’ve had other people request to translate hlh to other languages, i gave them the go ahead, but as far as i can tell, nothing ever came of that

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

a couple times! the longest fic I co-wrote is no longer on my ao3 for various reasons, but I also worked with minryll on the aforementioned phoenixes are pests and @yes-i-am-happyaspie have a fic we’re co-writing that i SWEAR i will get back to!!!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

i don’t like… go that hard for romantic ships.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i will finish all my wips i swear to god. i will be eighty fucking years old chipping away at these bitches if i must, but they WILL be finished.

16. What are your writing strengths?

introspection baby! unfortunately that means my characters are probably way more emotionally intelligent than they should be based on canon but such is life

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

summarizing. there’s a reason hlh spans like. two weeks of time. that’s because i hate summarizing when i could spell out everything that happens. and i know it’s a problem and i’m working on it!!! but like not as hard as i should because it’s hardddddd 😭

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven’t really run into this issue, but hypothetically I’d need to find a confident speaker of the language to give my dialogue a pass before I’d be willing to publish it

It’s definitely easier to draw someone straight on facing the viewer, but if I had to pick between the two directions, I’d say I draw more characters facing to the left

I keep So. Many. WIPS. on my iPad that never see the light of day outside of me. If anyone is ever interested, I could be persuaded to post a screenshot of my WIPs some day soon

I love drawing dresses!!!!!!
