I just think SunnyNami could be so cute! Like during the Jade Mountain arc it really feels like they lean on one another during all the bullshit that goes down at the academy. They investigate the bombing together and I think after the whole fake Glory thing happens they’d really look to each other. I think Tsunami would be able to break down around Sunny about how scared she was that Glory was dead. And I mean like. Fall apart. Whereas I think around Clay or Starflight she wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that. Maybe she could cry in front of Glory too but Glory’s off ruling her own kingdom so.

Then she’s talking again with Tsunami in Turtle’s book about the school and then in Qibli’s book Sunny is the one who convinces Tsunami to put on the earring. Which. Like. After all the shit Nami has dealt with around animus magic? The Orca statue! Anemone in general! Her general distrust for powers and magic! She must trust Sunny so much.

Plus like. They’d balance each other. Almost like a good cop, bad cop deal. Or the bright and happy/grumpy and standoffish thing Qinter and LynxFall has! And it really feels like they’re both working so hard for the good of the school and they care about the mission and the students and just.

Tsunami spends nearly her whole pov book wanting Sunny to forgive her or not be afraid of her or whatever and a big moment in that book is when they hug and you know!

Othermind: if you could rewrite one book/plot point, what would it be?

Tbh I’m not really a fan of how qibli and winter act with moon. It’s set up like a love triangle but I honestly don’t see any chemistry between them. Give me some sweet baby gays please tui im begging you. Also the series isn’t over so it could technically still happen but I really wish that deathbringer turns out to be evil and just trying to get a nightwing on Glory’s throne. Then tsunami can sweep in and save her secret crush (yes I know some people view the DoD as siblings but Glory and tsunami never seemed close enough to see each other as sisters, to me at least. Also I’m starved of dragon lesbians). Then it’s happily ever after and we get two lesbian seawing princesses with rainwing gfs, also tsunami is butch and you can’t convince me otherwise

I’ve got a few! I can’t remember at this exact moment but the idea that orca had melanin and wore pale jewelry to honour her namesake. I know it’s kinda mine but albino nightwings born under all three moons! And also that nightwings used to have events to honour the moons!

I really enjoyed the festival scenes with whiteout! She’s just a total agent of chaos and i love her with my whole being (ps she deserved better)

Lil correction, in the books (book 2 to be precise) she said she used to have a crush on them before realising that Clay saw them as siblings and Starflight wasn't her type and that she is now embarrassed about it because she sees them as brothers, her crushes on them is the equivalent of that weird crush that some very young kids develop on their cousins (or anything similar / people who are too old ect ect) before they really know what romance really is

Starflight may have a similar crush on Sunny but it stayed cause he didn't introspect and had the realisation that Tsunami did, and also because Sunny is a sweetheart and a far cry from the dry-er personalities of Tsunami and Glory have of the abusive nature of Kestrel, so he may have formed a strong attachement to her because of this

Most poeple who ship Glorynami probably have no problem with Sunnyflight, asside from maybe the fact that it ignores Sunny's canon opinion, but these people ignore the fact that Glory and Tsunami bicker and argue like sisters during all of arc 1 soooooo

kinda ironic how many ppl ship glornami while saying starsunny is problematic for being practical incest!!! so is glornami ya weirdos!!! they were raised together!!!

Welp I lost it. But I had an ask questioning a ship I mentioned only once in passing as being a bad one. 10 points to the first one who gets which one it was.

Before I begin. I am not dissing on this person their pov is valid and the ask was pretty respectful all things considered but I do have a few things to say.

I really don't care if you don't ship something that I ship. Or if you have something personal against the ship in question. That's all on you. But if you would please not diss on these ships or harass me about them that would be wonderful.

I mean I'm old enough and mature enough (hahaha) that I can take it but what if I was say a 12 year old who had wandered into Tumblr somehow. (Actually I was essentially that kid just a couple of years ago.) And the first thing I get is someone "older and wiser" telling me what ships I can and cannot ship and how you are unethical for liking certain character and oh boy I'm getting more steamed about this then I meant to.

Basically what I'm saying is it can be a form of bullying. I had an experience like that on my first account at the ripe old age of 13 of 14 and it certainly didn't help my social anxieties.

Fandoms can be incredibly toxic. Especially when it comes to shipping. Someone may not like a ship for one reason or another and will come up with a reason why nobody should ship that ship that actually has very little basis in canonical interactions and then people will just follow because that's just what people do. We follow along without thinking it through ourselves.

And I want this to be a safe blog where we can all talk about our ships without feeling judged or hurt by anyone who disagrees with your ships.

I'm gonna come out and say it I don't like moonbli, Winterwatcher, or even glorynami. And I would like to be able to continue to make my personal feelings about that very clear. But I am 100% okay if anybody else likes them and wants me to take a stab at writing little AUs for them.

I am a strong advocate for the age old fanfiction tag of "don't like, don't read." And I hope I never make any of you feel stupid for an idea that you have for an AU or a pairing that you like. I can't say I will personally ship the same ships but I want everyone to feel included. Even if it is just watching me wreck my way chaotically through these AUs.

Well. This post ended up longer than intentional. Essentially. Don't diss on my ships. Don't diss on other people's ships. Be kind and remember we don't know everyone's life and what's going on behind closed doors. That person you messaged hate mail for liking a ship might be a 13 year old who has been struggling through middle school with no friends or come from a bad situation where the only escape the have is the internet.

Thank you and this has been another of my wonderful 'enlightening' rants which are more or less a dive into my psyche.

So I’ve been thinking

About glorybringer as a ship. I’ve never really been a fan of it, even when the books first came out. I never really thought about how old any character was but now that I’m aware of their ages, it isn’t any better. In dragon years Deathbringer is twice Glory’s age, and when I do the math for human years, Glory’s 18-21 depending on your idea of a mature adult, and Deathbringer’s in his late 30s to 40s it’s just not enjoyable. Also, Tsunami and Glory never seemed very close in my eyes so like... gal pals??
